One of the best places for dining in Hamburg. Cozy, large selection of wines, friendly staff and the food is just incomparable! Highly recommended!

Fantastic food, very friendly service. The beautiful, green facade makes this small restaurant a real eye-catcher. Truly cute and charming! It was packed and accordingly loud (my only criticism), but the service handled it excellently. I also found the prices reasonable for Hamburg and the high quality. A definite recommendation!

Very good food, even with a very small daily menu, which, of course, further enhances the quality. The service was super friendly and accommodating; they even got me a drink from the 'sister restaurant' because they were out of stock (and they even gave me a free drink because it wasn't exactly what I wanted). Long story short... Krug is now on our favorites list.

A small, very cozy restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. We weren't entirely impressed by the food. The beef tartare wasn't traditional, but rather a creative take. However, the pickled egg yolk grated over it looked like Parmesan and was more of a homeopathic dose. The anchovies weren't really noticeable either. The portion size was great. For the main course, we both had the braised veal pouches. Super tender! The pea risotto was just as it should be. Unfortunately, the thyme jus lacked strength. Yes, it's modern pub fare, but the flavor lacks strength.

It's a small restaurant, so seating is quite tight, and the menu is small but excellent. Service is quite relaxed, more like a pub, which is unexpected and unusual for the rather high prices. Main courses start at €22 (vegetarian), but very good. The portion size was just right for me. When it's full, it's very loud.

The Krug is a fantastic restaurant in the heart of St. Pauli. The service is attentive, friendly, and always there, without being intrusive. You immediately notice that hospitality is a hallmark of this place. The menu boasts a small selection of well-chosen dishes. The starters are just the right size and leave you wanting more. Whether it's fish or meat, everything is perfectly prepared, perfectly flavored, and beautifully presented. You can tell the love goes into the cooking here. The wines also match perfectly. We've been there a few times now and have never been disappointed. If you're looking for good food in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to be.

So, a nice place, good, attentive service, but the food was unfortunately below average. The veal tongue was very dry and thickly breaded, and the lentils were really quite plain. The roast beef was pink and good, along with the colorful root vegetables, a piece of parsnip and a piece of carrot, and the potatoes felt like they'd been reheated twice. A bit disappointing for the price.

Last week I went to Krug with my daughter on a visit to see her in Hamburg. We were intrigued to try the sister restaurant to Fritzlis and it was extremely good. I am not vegan but the Nodel and sauerkraut reached new hights. I never thought such a combo could be so good. And a lovely starter of burrata with puickled rhubarb. The Maitre D who I reognised from Fritzlis said he couldn't understand why it was so busy - I coudl though but great atmosphere and very good service. Go!

The food that comes from the mini kitchen is handmade and tastes very, very good. A little bolder seasoning here and there would be perfect for me personally. I really loved the wine selection. The jug of vermouth is a must try.

I was looking forward to a nice evening with friends and was happy to get to know a new, hip restaurant. Loading nice, concept good. Then came the service: at the start it was mediocre and it didn't get any better. We didn't ask once if we wanted a second bottle of water after the first one. Ran after the third wine, begged for dessert. Even if the concept and the quality of the courses are good, the service is anything but attentive. Too bad. The bottom line: too much hype. The food is one thing that makes you feel comfortable and the atmosphere is something else. That was very weak. I will not recommend the restaurant to anyone.

It was a wonderful evening. The shop was well stocked. There is a communicative atmosphere. A nice selection of wines by the glass and by the bottle. The menu is small but nice. Vegetarian-fish-meat. Service is friendly and knows how to give good advice. At the end there was a short chat with the boss. Everything was great, we'll be back.

Totally recommended! Pleasant ambience, great service and above all absolutely fantastic food. Both the starter and the main course were great in every way. The red wine is velvety smooth. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Ate “World Champion Parmesan Dumplings” today! They have never been so fluffy and delicious. And first of all, the super awesome sourdough bread that you would love to take home with you.

A bit expensive, but great food and very nice, authentic service! Very tastefully and comfortably furnished.

We were disappointed. It's too narrow and too loud. Tables are small and chairs are hard. Our table was right by the door. Newly arriving guests were practically standing right at the table. Booking only possible for 2 hours. The prices are far too high for that, even if the food and drink themselves were very good.

Nice local food in a cosy atmosphere. List is short, so the choosing the food is easy also for us tourists.

The food is varied but unfortunately the range of dishes on offer is very poor. There was also a lack of a certain warm-up culture such as small appetizers. The duck wasn't really well done and the other dishes were pretty average. I may have been misled by the atmosphere and the rooms. It was ok but a bit too dark and narrow.

I've been to the Krug several times and have always been satisfied. However, my last visit was disappointing. We were served rather condescendingly by the staff and we had to wait a long time for our food. Our main course was probably forgotten. With a time slot of 2 hours, this shouldn't happen because we had to leave very abruptly afterwards. Drinks weren't refilled either, we were left stranded for an hour. There was no apology and we felt unwelcome. (Mind you, we were a group of girls who just wanted to have a nice evening, neither loud nor unpleasant). The food was really tasty but not outstanding either.

We've been there for the third time and were just as excited as the first time. This time we enjoyed it more spontaneously, but that's okay too. We'll definitely be back😀 see you soon ✌️

First of all - chapeau for the great kitchen performance in the smallest of spaces. We had a pleasant evening, with good service and a great atmosphere. The concept is fun and we will definitely come back.

We came spontaneously without a reservation and were warmly welcomed and given a table that was later reserved. This was clearly communicated and the time frame was ok for us. The staff was very nice and relaxed and made you feel welcome and seen. Small room, dim lighting, lots of tables close together, very quaint and cozy. The food was very, very good. A small, fine card. Everything is of the best quality and wonderfully freshly prepared. Best wines and a delicious deer kiss to say goodbye - thank you very much for a lovely evening with you 🫶

Nice little restaurant in St.Pauli. Atmosphere and service is nice, the quality of the food still has room for improvement. Goulash, for example, still has a lot of untapped potential.

we came here to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and we totally loved it at krug! the staff was incredible kind and the menu was for us as veggies perfect to handle. our dishes were extra delicious as was our rosé. everything was cooked to perfection. we also liked the robust style of the interior. prices are fine for the quality of the food - we will come back for sure ☺️

Tagliatelle with cream sauce and fruit was really to die for! Wine list very good. We also really liked the service and ambience! Not a cheap restaurant, but affordable and the price is more than reasonable for what you get!

Kleine Auswahl – aber die hat es in sich. Als Vorspeise ein hervorragendes Rindertartar, dann wunderbar zartes Maishähnchen und als Nachspeise ein herrlich leichtes Passionsfrucht-Mousse. Dazu einen Vinho-Verde-Rosé. Das in einer Äußerst angenehmen Umgebung mit einer sehr freundlichen und aufmerksamen Bedienung. Es war ein toller Abend dort. Danke!

We had an incredibly lovely evening in the Krug! Great ambience, nice & attentive service and delicious food. Only the pasta would have been much tastier with a handful of fewer berries. I think the concept of the small card is great and I also liked the “living room” atmosphere. If I lived in Hamburg, I would probably do honor to the “Stammtisch”. I felt very comfortable here & it was definitely not my last visit.

There were two of us and we got a window seat. I had reserved the table online several days in advance. It was very easy and I received an official reservation confirmation by email within a few hours and even a reminder on the day of the reservation. We arrived there 10 minutes early, but we were still warmly welcomed and our table was already ready. Both operators worked with a smile on their faces and had a lot of fun at work. The interior of the restaurant is rather small, but very cozy. The menu includes three starters, three main courses and a dessert or cheese plate. You can always choose between vegetarian, fish and meat courses, but special requests are also taken into account here. Portions are rather small, but incredibly tasty. The only disadvantage: Our plates from the main course were cleared away and we wanted something to drink and a dessert, but the waitress avoided eye contact and didn't respond to hand signals, so we had to wait almost 20 minutes before we could order something again. We personally didn't mind it, but we might still pay attention to the guests more often. Definitely worth a visit, but reservations are essential.

AWESOME, actually I would give it 6 stars. I can fully agree with the positive reviews. The food was perfectly cooked and seasoned optimally for our taste. Actually, I usually add more salt, but it wasn't necessary. Which doesn't mean it was oversalted; My wife never adds salt, and it was perfect for her too. So very seasoned. The service was also very competent, pleasant, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We were well advised when choosing wine and found something delicious. Price performance absolutely appropriate. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy the beautiful ambience as we were given a seat in front of the neighboring café, which was very convenient for us as it was a bit quieter. And the service didn't suffer in any way. All in all, we had a very nice evening and we will definitely visit the Krug more often.

Mini restaurant. Very cozy. If you like it tight, this is the place for you. So that was the only thing that was a BIT uncomfortable. Fantastic food, great taste, incredibly fine. Only 3 dishes to choose from but there is definitely something for everyone. Interesting compositions that define a wonderful taste. Friendly service except for the lady behind the bar. Price performance high but still fair.

Superb diner experience at Krug. You can tell the team is really passionate about their restaurant, and the chef is incredibly talented. Excellent flavours and top quality seasonal food. The team makes great efforts to speak English and help with our very basic German. Very happy with our dinner and would 100% come again.

I particularly liked the concept of the menu: five starters, three main courses (fish, meat, vegetarian), two desserts. That's it. All exquisite. Our visit at Krug was the perfect ending to what felt like the first day of Spring. The food is simple and yet elegant with the clear feeling that the small details matter. The atmosphere is very friendly and we felt well taken care of and appreciated as customers 😊

Visited the Krug on a recommendation on a Tuesday. An unforgettable evening! A very cozy atmosphere, with dimmed lights and very romantic. The service in particular must be praised! Rarely have I received such good and friendly service. Time was taken, there was a small wine tasting and we were warmly welcomed even without a reservation (which I would recommend is only possible online) and everything was pulled out to accommodate us. The drink selection was very good, especially the aperitif. The starter (whipped butter and Duroc pork loin) was incredibly good! Perfectly seasoned. The main courses (wild garlic gnocchi and saltimbocca variation) were well thought out, but failed somewhat due to the implementation. Unfortunately, the side dish for the saltimbocca was only lukewarm, but the meat was still on point and well seasoned. Unfortunately, the gnocchi were too oily and lacked the complexity to stand out. As a meat eater, I was rather disappointed when comparing it with the Saltimbocca. The price for two starters, two main courses and four drinks was around €115, which I was happy to pay. All in all, I would warmly recommend the jug!

An insider tip (or not). A reservation is advisable. The menu is very short and simple - 4 starters, 3 main courses and 2 desserts. When we were there there was roast beef with red cabbage, fried stone cabbage fillet (wild caught) and a vegan roast chestnut. The food was prepared in the open kitchen and was of the very best quality. Everything without any frills.

Sehr gutes Essen in einer sehr entspannten und gemütlichen Atmosphäre. Dazu war der Service freundlich und aufmerksam. Ein Stern Abzug für das Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis. Die Qualität der Gerichte ist mit Sicherheit sehr gut, trotzdem erscheinen die Preise etwas überteuert.

Habe sehr viel gutes über den Laden gehört, daher war die Messlatte für mich wahrscheinlich zu hoch. Wir kamen rein und haben uns nicht abgeholt gefühlt. Ein Herr fragte ob wir reserviert hätten und hat nicht mal Hallo oder Willkommen gesagt, was leider einen negativen Beigeschmack bei mir gegeben hat (natürlich hatte ich reserviert). Es gibt sehr wenig Gerichte, was für mich Charme hat, aber es wäre schön wenn sich die Kellner Zeit nehmen würden die wenigen Speisen den Gästen zu erklären, anstatt zu sagen dass man sich ein Foto von der Speisekarte an der Bar machen soll. Die Dame als zweite Bedienung war dann aber sehr freundlich. Essen war eine 7/10. Getränke und Weinkarte gut. Insgesamt overrated.

Really nice food! We went last week for a family dinner and really enjoyed. The waitress was new but she was amazing, made the effort to translate the menu for us into English and she was really attentive through the whole dinner. Something I found really nice is that we order a wine and it was sold out, and the wine we got recommended was good and also cheaper, nice to receive an honest rec. Menu changes - it is not always the same. Update November 2023: came back a few months later and still great 👍🏼
