A simple yet charming inn with exceptionally friendly and competent service and a highly recommended menu. Regional cuisine of the highest quality that should delight everyone. Whether you stop by for the excellent Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle), the enormous roast beef, or a four-course meal, it's definitely worth it. An absolute recommendation, as it's definitely one of the best restaurants in Ludwigsburg.

A small but excellent menu, with something for everyone. It's on the pricier side, but the price-performance ratio is absolutely fair. When I was there, the restaurant was completely full, so there were a few longer waits for orders, etc. In short: highly recommended, I'll definitely go again.

Sunday, the first Sunday of Advent We stopped in despite the unpleasant, wet, and cold weather. The atmosphere was cozy and nice and warm. We were greeted and served in a friendly manner. And since it was Sunday, we chose the Sunday roast. It's actually a tricky choice, as everyone has personal memories associated with it from their family history. Roast beef with Spätzle and vegetables. WOW! The meat was tender and very flavorful, the vegetables fresh and cooked perfectly with just the right bite, and a lovely combination. The gravy was rich and perfectly seasoned (it could perhaps have been a touch thicker, although that's a matter of taste). The Spätzle were exactly as I imagine them to be from Swabia. So all in all, Just like Mom or Grandma used to make. Thank you for a wonderful, down-to-earth Sunday meal.

The mushroom cream soup was very thin, the wild boar sausage had little flavor, but the sauerkraut and mashed potatoes with the gravy were very good.

We went here for dinner in the evening. The food was good, but that's where the positives end... We specifically reserved a table a little earlier, at 6:30 pm, because we had a four-year-old with us. We had to wait ages for our drinks, and then at 7:30 pm the appetizer arrived: pancake soup. It's a mystery to me how it can take so long to serve broth... Then we had to wait almost another hour for our main course. Even though the food was good and the place has its charm, we certainly won't be coming back.

The price-performance ratio is completely off. Despite the restaurant being quiet, we waited an hour for our food. The portion size and quality are not worth the exorbitant price. The broth was unfortunately completely unseasoned. Several drink orders were forgotten. The staff was friendly. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

Good, delicious food! A bit out of the way, but well located for a stroll after dinner. I was there for business and will be going back with the family soon. You might need to make a reservation in the evening.

Because of the many positive reviews, we wanted to give it a try. Maultaschen with potato salad for €21 must be a hit. It isn't, rather average, and the ambiance fits in seamlessly. I got the impression that they don't really care about attracting new customers. I couldn't understand the good reviews.

Lunch with three people. The Winzerstark was greasy and swimming in oil with the vegetables. The Maultaschen (ravioli) with potato salad were okay. I haven't had such a bad meal in a long time, and we eat out in Ludwigsburg weekly!!! The taste and value for money are no longer there!!! I celebrated my birthday there a few years ago with 40 guests. Everything was fantastic from start to finish! It's a shame, it's so nice to sit on the terrace 😕

We recently visited the Krone Alt Hoheneck and were absolutely thrilled! The restaurant impresses with authentic Swabian specialties, prepared with great attention to detail. Whether it was Maultaschen (roasted pork with onions), Zwiebelrostbraten (spiced beef), or Spätzle (spaetzle) – everything was cooked to perfection and a true taste sensation. Particularly noteworthy is the very attentive and friendly staff, who take plenty of time for their guests and create an all-around pleasant atmosphere. You feel welcome from the very first moment. A very special compliment goes to the chef, Markus, who not only shines with his expertise, but also with his genuine warmth. You can tell that passion and hospitality are lived here. We will definitely be back – a clear recommendation for anyone who wants to enjoy good Swabian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere!

We were looking for a table for eight at short notice, and the Krone was quick to help us find it. We had a pleasant evening with regionally sourced Swabian specialties. The roast beef was excellent, and the pork steak was perfect. Only the cheese spaetzle could have been a bit heartier. We had a long wait for the food, but that was okay given the short notice. All in all, a well-rounded evening with friendly service in a beautiful location.

Monday is baking day with fresh bread, snacks, and tarte flambée. We found the sausage salad and fresh bread very tasty and would love to come back.

I love the wonderful, relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in this restaurant! Whether outside on the beautiful terrace or in the original dining room, the food is always freshly prepared with regional ingredients. Hopefully, it stays that way for a long time!

We celebrated our wedding at the Krone Alt-Hoheneck in July 2024. The church ceremony took place in St. Wolfgang's Church directly across the street. The Krone was the perfect location for our subsequent celebration – with uncomplicated advance planning, a great ambiance, attentive service, and delicious food! We were able to use the entire venue that day – a champagne reception, coffee, and cake were served in the ballroom, the evening meal was served in the dining room, and the subsequent party took place in the ballroom. This allowed guests to move freely around the venue, allowing the waiters to clear up and prepare without interruption. Both we and our guests were absolutely thrilled with the day! We couldn't have imagined a better location <3 Thanks again to the entire team – it felt like we were celebrating a wonderful party with friends :)

There were six of us here, and we really enjoyed it. The food was very good, especially the salads. However, the really small vegetable soup didn't even come with a piece of bread, which was a bit meager. The prices are rather high. We had to wait a long time between courses, even though it wasn't very busy that evening. Overall, though, I recommend it if you're not in a hurry.

It feels like my second living room. Very nice people work and cook there, and hospitality is important to them. The food is of very high quality and sooo delicious, even the vegetarian dishes. Finely balanced, with lovingly decorated plates, and lots of tasty details in the sauces, foams, and oils. A personal highlight is the homemade wood-fired bread. I'd gladly drive the 60 kilometers for a portion of bread and butter. I always feel welcome and cared for there. A great team, and the food is always worth a visit.

The food is quite expensive and we had to wait forever for it. The food tastes good, they even have vegan options, but for me it was way too oily.

We tried the Krone Alt-Hoheneck with a larger group on Mother's Day. We had watched the great video online beforehand and went in with high expectations...unfortunately, we left the restaurant somewhat disappointed. The asparagus soup, for around €10, was served in a small cup with just firm green asparagus...nothing more...actually inedible. The main courses were all very good overall...unfortunately, we waited about an hour for each...the staff did point this out, but it was still far too long. Conclusion: Far too expensive for what they offer.

Table was booked for 6 people on the out patio area for 7 pm…Although near the Necker ( across the road I think ! ) couldn’t see or hear a thing of it….Although there were empty tables and not busy it took a good thirty minutes to make the order although one beer did turn up after about 10 minutes…The waiter came and went in between each person ordering….then the real wait began !! After about one hour the waiter came to the table and we asked where the food was ? also why there was not even bread on the table for us to eat….he said that he had been waiting for us to order some started type food but then reluctantly offered us some bread and salt to keep us going and the food arrived some ten minutes later…. The food was okay and had the salads arrived for all the dinners we would have had more reason to complain….as they say “three leaves do not a salad make” it was a joke to call this a side salad…. So I guess what I am saying is this….location rubbish….service rubbish….food okay but expensive… Beer not that cold and expensive….Don’t bother eating here try the place a few metres up the road….

Restaurant with a rustic atmosphere. Price/performance is not right. The food is delicious and the portions are mostly generous. Exception asparagus with salmon. Attentive service is expected in this price category. The initial supply of drinks worked, and the food was also taken in quickly. However, we were in the restaurant at 6:30 p.m. and were one of the first groups to reserve, ordered after about 20 minutes and received our food at 8:45 p.m. That's definitely too long. In between we had to ask if we could get something to drink. Conclusion: Restaurant nice and rustic, food good, concept doesn't fit and prices are not justified (even if organic quality). Sorry!

EDIT: Even though the owner isn't around as often anymore, the place is still going strong. Attentive staff and truly excellent service – even if it sometimes takes a little longer. But good things take longer, and that's why the Krone is still highly recommended! The Krone Alt-Hoheneck stands for high-quality, deliciously presented food. We had a very nice evening here with delicious food. The schnitzels were excellent and everything else was very good too. The atmosphere is very tasteful and the staff is friendly and accommodating. We felt very comfortable and can highly recommend the Krone in Hoheneck.

Wir waren mit Freunden zum Abendessen und mussten erst sehr lange auf die Suppe warten , die dann nicht mal heiß serviert wurde und dann dauerte es nochmal fast eine Stunde bis die Hauptgerichte kamen. Das Ambiente ist rustikal schön, wie in einem schönen Wirtshaus. Auf der Weinkarte gibt es den Hinweis, dass es weitere regionale Weine im Keller gibt und wir bekamen eine kompetente Beratung. Über Preise wurde nicht gesprochen um so erstaunter waren wir, als wir in einem Gasthaus ohne Vorwarnung für 2 Flaschen Wein 150 Euro zahlen mussten. So geht man mit Gästen nicht um.

We spent a lovely evening in the Krone on Valentine's Day. It was our second visit there and we are absolutely thrilled! The ambience of the old inn has been preserved and creates a wonderful atmosphere. The food is great and the service team is super polite, informed, quick and takes the time necessary for the customers.

We come from further away and had to drive about 2 hours, were actually in the area for another reason and stopped by spontaneously. It was soooo delicious! We haven't eaten so well in a long time. Cozy furnishings, great service, super dear host 😁 We will definitely go back, despite the long journey! An inn like you rarely find. The food here is fresh and delicious. Beautiful rooms with lots of old wood and no frills, you feel comfortable here.

Price performance is no longer quite right. It was better two years ago. Ambience could use a coat of paint. Given the prices, I expect excellent service and an attractive atmosphere. Don't wait 15 minutes for someone to pick up the drinks and mediocre wine. Food was good, nothing to complain about.

Schon seit langem war mir die Krone am Rande von Alt-Hoheneck ein Begriff - immer äußerst positiv konnotiert. Nun war es endlich an der Zeit, das traditionsreiche Gasthaus auszuprobieren. Kurz gesagt, es wurden alle Erwartungen übertroffen. Die Gaststube ist rustikal, aber dennoch gemütlich und absolut passend eingerichtet und dekoriert. Es lädt auch nach dem Essen noch zum weiteren verweilen ein. Der Service war sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und dennoch herzlich. Man merkt, dass Fachpersonal am Werk ist, welches heute leider nicht mehr überall der Fall ist. Die Speisen sind qualitativ hochwertig und sehr lecker. Es wird besonders viel Wert auf die Herkunft und Qualitätsstandards der einzelnen Zutaten geachtet ( mindestens biologischer Anbau). Die Preise sind der Qualität einzusprechen angemessen und fair. Wir kommen garantiert wieder und freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Abend in der Krone!

For Boxing Day we thought we would treat ourselves to something expensive and reserved a table at the time specified by the innkeeper. The Christmas menu, which we viewed online beforehand, sounded promising. The fact that there was no "A'la card" shop that day also sounded good to me. Unfortunately, I interpreted this as meaning that the chef can then concentrate fully on the handful of dishes, everything is done quickly (since it is scheduled) and is really tasty. Oh well.... We were led into a bare, half-renovated room (probably supposed to be that way, but - especially at Christmas - it had no atmosphere and was, in my opinion, just ugly and cold) and sat at a table that had charm, as it was from "grandmother's kitchen". , but has no place in a restaurant where you feel like you're in "fine cuisine". The table was full of stains. A Christmas tablecloth would have helped here. So now we sat at the table in question from 5:30 p.m. and waited. And waited. And waited. Well, at some point we were asked which water they could serve us, medium or still, and they brought us this and the (overpriced) wines we ordered. We were never informed about the price of the water, which is why we thought it was included in the menu price. Only two wines were listed on the menu. As a recommendation for the menu. 0.2 liters for 9.50 euros and 12.50 euros. At 6 p.m. we were given a basket of bread and each a glass of butter and an admittedly tasty spread. Silently. We didn't know whether the soup that was still to come would be added or whether we should have "vespers" first. After 10 minutes the soup came. In a small coffee cup. For the price and the small quantity, the taste must be amazing (I thought). It was tasty. But I lacked the sophistication. I got a soup like this in another restaurant nearby with a bread basket after 5 minutes as a “greeting from the kitchen”. In other words, free of charge. I was still looking forward to the ox cheeks, which were the main course. We had to wait what felt like an eternity for this (it was 20 minutes, but the soup was eaten in just 3 minutes, which is why the waiting time was really annoying). The main course consisted of cheeks, red cabbage, puree and sauce (of course described more elegantly on the menu). Unfortunately my meat was quite tough and difficult to chew. The ratio of the individual products didn't suit us either. Lots of meat and far too few side dishes. The puree was too sweet for me (celery-hazelnut puree). The red cabbage was tasty, which isn't difficult, but there wasn't enough of it. The dessert came 10 minutes after the main course was cleared away. There was nothing wrong with that. Was delicious. The long waiting times before and between the individual courses, the non-existent communication between the serving staff and the guest (no explanation of the dishes, which I expect in a fine kitchen), the cold atmosphere, that the guest is "used to" - all of that is what I expect at the kebab around the corner, but not when I was supposed to pay 64 euros per person for bread, mini soup, mini salad, main course and desert, excluding drinks. Christmas Eve cost us 169.80 euros. 2x 64,- 2x 12.50 (wine) 1x 9.50 (wine) 1x 7.50 (bottle of water) I won't eat there again and won't recommend the place to anyone. The expensive evening was too disappointing for that.

Wir waren mit 12 Personen essen. Der Kellner war sehr hochnäsig. Eine von uns hat nur eine Vorspeise bestellt (da sie nicht so großen Hunger hatte) - eine halbe Maultasche - in der Karte für 13,50 €. Beim Zahlen musste sie dafür 19 € bezahlen - Aussage des Kellners: Sie soll sich nicht einbilden, das wir hier einen Tisch bestellen und nur eine Vorspeise essen und bezahlen - es blieb bei den 19 €. Ich hatte ein Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat - im Kartoffelsalat waren haufenweise Senfkörner - voll eklig. Das Schnitzel war nicht frisch zubereitet, es war so ein Pressschnitzel auf der Gefriertruhe - Kosten 25 €, keinerlei Deko auf dem Teller. 4 andere haben das Maultaschengericht gestellt, diese waren aber nur lauwarm, die Teller gingen zurück, dann kamen diese warm wieder (sie hatten aber keinen Namen drangeschrieben - wen welcher Teller gehört - es wurde ja schon ein Stück Maultasche gegessen. Es waren Zwiebel drauf - auf den Maultaschen - die waren ungenießbar, scheinbar frittiert und irgendwie mit Fettglasur. Die Preise entsprechen nicht der Qualität des Essens. Der Kellner war sehr unfreundlich. Wir würden nie wieder in dieses Restaurant gehen.

We had food there for the Christmas party, unfortunately it was inedible and the meat was of poor quality. Plates arranged carelessly and without love. Beef Dry and tough. Drinks were forgotten several times. Adjoining room with little charm and barely decorated. The price is absolutely unreasonable in relation to the quality and presentation of the food. Glazed winter vegetables were simple leeks and the braising sauce was watery and thin. Side dishes OK but quantity insufficient. The recession represents my opinion and I will no longer visit the restaurant

Service and hospitality The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating throughout my visit. The waitresses and waiters were attentive without being intrusive and showed genuine interest in making us comfortable. They knew the menu inside out and gave excellent recommendations – both on the dishes and the drinks to go with them. This warmth is rare these days and clearly sets the restaurant apart. Position The restaurant is idyllically located near the Neckar, embedded in a beautiful landscape that is typical of Swabia. It's easy to get to, but still offers a relaxing atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the city. After dinner, the surrounding area invites you to take a walk along the Neckar - the perfect way to end the evening. Conclusion This restaurant has earned a permanent place on my list of favorite places to eat. It's more than just a place to eat - it's a total experience. The successful combination of excellent Swabian and Hessian cuisine, a stylish ambience and a dedicated team makes it an absolute must for anyone visiting or living in Swabia. I will definitely come back and look forward to my next visit!

Disappointing price-performance Although the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was friendly, the quality of the food could not keep up with the high prices. The portions were small and the taste lacked sophistication. In addition, above-average prices were charged for simple side dishes and drinks, which further tarnished the overall impression. Overall, the price-performance ratio was unfortunately not right. For these prices I would have expected much better quality and taste. A second visit is therefore rather unlikely for me.

Nice and cozy, winding and minimally old-fashioned. Based on the name, you would be more likely to guess that it was a rancid village pub, but that would be far from the case. The food is excellent, in my opinion the prices are significantly too high (bottle of house wine 27€ (rosé 😶‍🌫️) What? Service is first class, the atmosphere is more like a village pub and the prices are simply too high.

The food itself was okay, nothing more, so I don't think the pricing was appropriate since I had to pay €25 for a schnitzel with fried potatoes and it didn't even include a small salad garnish.

Waited over 10 minutes for fries and cold bratwurst (there were also other visitors in front of us). The bratwurst was previously handed out incorrectly to another customer and then "parked" until I asked for it. I was then offered this "parked" bratwurst, which was of course cold ! I specifically asked if it was hot. Appropriate answer from the seller: "I can't touch it now."Seller didn't even know about our order and apologized for technical problems, rather defects, because the fuse failed for a long time. Poor communication, money back and gone. Topic settled.

Very good cuisine with many regional products, some of them organic. The menu is clear (meant in a positive way) and offers a selection for every taste, including vegans. Very nice service team. We really liked it and would come back.

A wonderful taste experience! We have been guests at the Krone several times and have been thrilled every time. The service is fast, friendly and accommodating. I've eaten here several times and the food is good and tasty. But in my opinion the price/performance ratio is no longer right! I think that's why the veal schnitzel has disappeared from the menu.

This restaurant is one of the most special places in all of Germany. Everyone here is extraordinarily kind, generous, and welcoming. It is truly a one-of-a-kind location to enjoy a delicious meal and refreshing drinks. I cannot recommend Krone enough.

We were at a celebration with a buffet. The food was good, but I couldn't really rate it until I had the opportunity for à la carte.

On our bike tour through the vineyards we accidentally discovered the Krone in Alt Hoheneck. A very cozy beer garden, perfect for taking a short break and strengthening yourself. There is delicious beer and also delicious small dishes. The atmosphere is really great. After looking at the menu, we will definitely visit the restaurant in the evening and have a leisurely meal.

We celebrated my big birthday in the Krone ballroom with almost fifty guests in the evening. It was the ideal location for this and all guests were thrilled by the ambience and atmosphere. When the weather was wonderful, the champagne reception took place on the beautiful terrace. At the subsequent buffet in the ballroom, delicious, regional food was served and a dedicated, helpful and friendly service team was on duty. The bar and the existing music system in the ballroom invited people to chat and dance after dinner. For us it was a great evening and an all-round successful celebration!

Very nice location and surroundings, the outdoor area is also beautifully designed. From a price performance perspective, prices are far too high! The food doesn't justify it in terms of taste or portion, nor does the service. As soon as you ordered, you were ignored and not asked if you wanted something to drink. We sat at the table for about 30 minutes with empty glasses and decided to pay. But here too there was no sign, no attention from the staff.

We ate very well. Only regional products are used. I would say that it is worth eating in this restaurant. The menu is manageable, but the products are top notch. There is also a selection for vegetarians and vegans 😅.

The food was solid, unfortunately we expected much more for the price. The portions are manageable, and in every second Swabian country inn you can get a roast of a comparable standard for less money. My wife's vegan main course (tofu with vegetables) was unfortunately too salty and, at EUR 24, even more overpriced than the roast. I would also like the service to be on first-name terms with the guests instead of consistently using the “you” even when you are on first-name terms yourself. That would be a little more contemporary. I also agree with a review below: The ancient building has charm, but you should at least create a cozy, modern contrast with the furniture - this investment should probably be included given the price level.

Beautiful, old house with a lot of charm. We went to the Kronekeller on Mondays because we really like the atmosphere and the food on offer is something different. Everything was good, but the service was difficult that evening as it was quite busy, so there were some deficiencies, which we accepted.

Successful from start to finish! Very attentive staff. The service and especially the food were fantastic. The spaetzle was scraped by hand, something you rarely see anymore and the other dishes also looked great. There are a number of vegetarian dishes, including a small but good selection of vegan dishes. The prices are relatively high, which is perhaps the only criticism. But if this quality is delivered, it's fine. We'd love to come back.

Price performance is no longer right for me! Were there with a larger group. Seats reserved in advance. The space assigned to us was so-so. You have to like the atmosphere, everything is very simple (old). In combination with the listed building, high-quality and, above all, comfortable furniture would have been better placed here as a contrast. If you estimate appropriate prices (roast roast €36!) and want to present yourself accordingly to the outside world, at least that would be desirable. Toilets with sliding doors looking towards the kitchen! We also had problems with the electrical system; the lighting above our table kept flickering. The quality of the food is good and it tastes good too. However, the portions are a bit small, I would have hoped for a little more with the roast roast, I know that differently, especially given the price! Unfortunately, the service was not satisfactory for us, some orders were forgotten and everything took too long. You should have patience here. All in all, despite the good food, it's not worth a second visit for us.

Wir hatten in der "Alte Krone" mit Familie und Freunden ein ausgezeichnetes Mittagessen. Von der Vorbesprechung bis zur Durchführung durch und durch gelungen. Sehr leckeres Essen, freundliches, immer lächelndes Personal, ein zuvorkommender Service und eine tolle Atmosphäre. Zudem ein fairer Preis für regionale und saisonale Speisen.

We had a small celebration with family and friends in the "Alte Krone" and enjoyed an excellent lunch. From the preliminary discussion to the implementation, it was a complete success. Very tasty food, friendly, always smiling staff, courteous service and a great atmosphere. In addition, a fair price for regional and seasonal dishes.

Das Personal war super freundlich und sehr aufmerksam. Das Essen (Rostbraten) 100 von 100 Punkten. Keine Wartezeiten. Auch die Vor und Nachspeise war perfekt.

Great food, no finished products, fine taste buds. Great rose house wine, earthy and yet well developed, is rare to find. Qualified waitresses are also rare these days. The ambience: a mixture of austerity and little distraction from the essentials. That's a matter of taste.

Restaurant with a very nice atmosphere, very friendly service and the food (puristic bread with butter and salt, onion roast with oxtail ragout and fried potatoes) was also very good. Schnitzel was good, but not outstanding. We will be happy to go again at the next opportunity!

Wir haben mit einer größeren Gruppe in der Krone gegessen. Die Online-Reservierung ist unkompliziert und die Zusage erfolgte schnell. Parkplätze haben wir trotz der engen Gassen genügend gefunden. Das Lokal ist urig-gemütlich; ein schönes Ambiente. Mit dem Service waren wir sehr zufrieden, denn die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und aufmerksam. Leider ziehen das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und die Qualität des Essens unsere Bewertung deutlich nach unten. Für unsere panierten Schnitzel (vom Schwein) mit Kartoffelsalat haben wir 25 Euro bezahlt. Das Fleisch war dermaßen in die Breite geklopft, dass es nur noch einige Millimeter dick und entsprechend trocken und hart war. Die Küche verdient deshalb nur 2 Punkte.

Old and clean, ok, but furnished with bulky waste without regard to seat/table height etc. - that's not style but ignorance. Nothing is recommended (price/performance), it was worth a try!
