Kreuzberger Himmel in Berlin

Yesterday we were at Kreuzberger Himmel for the second time and were delighted again. Great concept, very tasty and beautifully presented food (vegetarian too)! We were also very impressed by the service, especially the attentive and loving treatment of our little son. We are already looking forward to our next visit :)

We went to this restaurant by chance and were really impressed! The food was fresh and delicious and the service was very attentive and friendly! I highly recommend it!

On our second visit we received a very unfriendly welcome. Due to illness there were only 4 of us instead of 5 and as soon as we arrived we were told in an inappropriate tone that we would have to pay a €15 fine for the person who was absent. No thanks, without us. We left our money at the extremely nice and delicious Italian restaurant a few doors away. The service staff at the hospital should do an apprenticeship here.

Unfriendly and bad service (it takes forever to get a drink you ordered, no questions asked, etc.) The portions don't offer much food and unfortunately it's not tasty either because everything is soaked in far too much oil. The highlight, however, was that a €15 'fine' had to be paid for one (!) missing person.

Unfortunately not recommended. Bad and unfriendly service. The food was completely drowned in oil and otherwise barely seasoned. Price and performance are disproportionate.

Basically very disappointing. The service was really substandard, unfriendly, no effort was made, we had to beg for the first drink, after 30 minutes it was there. I wanted to order a bowl of rice with my main course (price just under €16). Not possible. The dish itself was a disaster: two slices of eggplant and bread chips soaked in tons of olive oil. To be honest, you can eat better at any street snack bar in Berlin - for a third of the money. Very unfortunate. The concept sounds convincing, but unfortunately the stay was one of the worst restaurant visits in recent months.

a wonderful place with wonderful people and a wonderful concept. This is how integration works! The food: a dream. Every dish. You can't go wrong here. The wines are excellent. And the service is very friendly. We are regular guests here and it is an absolute pleasure every time!

For example, we had to wait longer to receive the invoice. But that only slightly spoiled the overall impression, as the friendly staff otherwise tried very hard. We arrived late to a birthday dinner (after 10pm) & though the kitchen was closed already, they still offered us cold starters to eat & were very accommodating! Food tasted incredible too!

I was looking for a good Arabic restaurant to celebrate Christmas with my friends, and we decided to try Kreuzberg Himmel. While the food was delicious enough to make me forget the long wait, the overall experience was disappointing due to poor service. Shockingly, they didn’t even have the most basic item—water. When I requested wine, they didn’t have that either, despite claiming to have a new and updated menu, which should’ve been fully stocked. On top of that, the waiter’s attitude was awful. He seemed eager to rush us out, making us feel unwelcome throughout the evening. To make matters worse, they didn’t even have Arabic Mocha Coffee, which you would expect as a staple at an Arabic restaurant. While the food was good enough for a first-time visit, the poor service left such a bad impression that I won’t be giving this place a second chance.

We recently hosted a dinner event at Kreuzberg Himmel. The restaurant was very cozy, our guests were happy, the staff were charming and the food was excellent. We would like to thank you for a great evening and would be happy to come back.

Very unfriendly service. We had a larger group of participants planned for the visit, three of whom canceled. After ordering, the owner came to our table and demanded that we pay a flat rate of 15 EUR for the no-shows. Our reserved table was already fully occupied and it would not have been physically possible for more people to be there. The food we ordered was ok but nothing special. The operation was slightly uncoordinated. During part of the evening the owner sat at a table in the restaurant and put his head on the table and slept.

Very tasty food and friendly service

Very good food, fantastically seasoned. The hummus is a dream. The lamb ragout was perfectly cooked and in a very well made sauce. The service was a bit slow but it was worth the wait.

I really enjoy going there, it ALWAYS tastes incredibly good, the seating is comfortable and the service is very, very friendly. And of course the concept is worth supporting.

Delicious and varied Middle Eastern food with a selection of delicious starters that other restaurants usually lack.

There were four of us there. The service needs to be more attentive. Starter plates not cleared, but main courses already arrived. We then put the dirty dishes together ourselves. The waiter whistled that we should keep the cutlery for the main course. Apart from the fact that I don't like it, it was already too late because we had already put everything together. But I didn't think that was quite as bad as the bad-tempered expression on the male service staff's face. That's no way to give guests a nice restaurant experience and that's why I won't go there again. Unfortunately I don't find glasses and dishes suitable at all (cheap). The eye also eats.

The food is very tasty and the people are nice too.

One meal was over. In another meal there was a piece of plastic wrap… The service was not very attentive and communicative.

Unfortunately disappointing. We had been meaning to try the restaurant for a long time and were unfortunately very disappointed. The menu said “mixed starter (4 pieces) of your choice” or “mixed starter plate for 2 people (only cold starters)” When we ordered it turned out that the 4 mixed starters only referred to the cold ones. Then I also ordered two warm ones. The food came quickly, but was carelessly prepared and everything was very bland and not very seasoned. But plenty of it. Unfortunately there is no main course to share between several people. We then decided on the lamb goulash. The portion wasn't very big and we wouldn't have been full without a starter. The meat was nice and tender, but again not very seasoned even though it was supposed to be a hot sauce. The side salad in the bowl was no longer completely fresh and had already collapsed a bit. Service not particularly attentive. Candle not lit, no advice on choosing food, no asking if you would like drinks or dessert, etc. Conclusion: nice concept/basic idea but the hype that was created around the restaurant is incomprehensible to us. No recommendation.

Excellent traditional Syrian cuisine with warm hospitality in a pleasant atmosphere. Easy to reach, reservations are recommended. A real discovery for me.

We had been meaning to try this restaurant for several months and had previously read a few of the reviews along the lines of "unfriendly staff, tiny portions" and didn't take them too seriously. There were two of us and we came around 4:30 p.m., the entire restaurant was empty and there was one person sitting outside. The waiter asked if we had a reservation. Since we almost never make reservations, we said: "we never make reservations". The waiter then became upset and replied in a loud voice, "So you're saying that anyone who makes a reservation works for free?" and waved his tablet around. This didn't really make sense to us, we then tried to explain that you don't always know what you want to do at what time several days later, but the waiter got louder and louder and at some point said: "If you don't make a reservation "I don't have a table either!" We then asked again whether there really was no free table in the completely empty restaurant. The same answer came again, just a little more aggressive. I'm still amazed and wondering what the young man's problem was. We basically got kicked out of the restaurant because he felt like he was being offended by something. I'll probably never know what the food tastes like there...

I was here a couple of years ago and loved the food. But this time (couple years later), it was a bit disappointing. It definitely is overpriced now, 9 Euro for Babaganoush which was missing a bit of taste. It was not bad and fresh, but def not worth the price. Also the main dish felt more like a starter because of the size and came at 13 Euro. Wouldn’t mind the price if the taste and everything would be exceptional, but sadly it was only good.

The waiter from Afghanistan needs more training, he wasn’t very professional. Our main courses took way too long as well. However, the food is super yummy and very authentic.

When I came into the restaurant (around 5 p.m.), there were two guests in the entire room and many seats were empty. The waiter asked me "How many people?". When I said "one" he informed me that all the tables were reserved and I couldn't eat there. Then why only the question about the number of people?

Great concept! Restaurant kept open by refugees. The food is also super tasty, I had the kibbeh with yogurt sauce, I had never eaten this before and it was definitely worth it!

Wow, what a great restaurant... Ate there during the week on a recommendation and was more than impressed. Very nicely furnished, centrally located, the restaurant offers a great culinary experience in addition to the great concept. Clear, very tidy menu with interesting dishes that are absolutely convincing in terms of taste and more than fair in price. Plus, for example, Lebanese wines, so it's definitely a well thought-out concept. Very attentive and friendly service, we recommend it with conviction and would be happy to come back!

Arabic food on a whole other level. And the ambience is also very tasteful. In terms of price, you can't cook for less with such quality. Excellent!

Very tasty food. And an excellent catering service. We ate in the restaurant and then ordered catering for 70 people. It was excellent. Also for vegetarians and vegans.

Sehr gutes Restaurant, exzellenter Catering Service! Wir waren zunächst im Restaurant und waren sehr zufrieden. Wir hatten verschiedene Vorspeisen (mit und ohne Fleisch), danach zwei Fleischgerichte, alles war sehr lecker. Das Huhn in Orange war ein besonderer Favorit. Da uns das Essen so gut gefallen hat, haben wir den Catering Service des Restaurants für unsere Feier gebucht. Die absolut richtige Entscheidung! In großer Vielfalt (auch vegetarisch und vegan) kam ein exzellentes und reichhaltiges Essen für 70 Personen. Das Orangen-Huhn war natürlich auch dabei. Unsere Gäste waren begeistert und viele wollen nun unbedingt auch im Restaurant essen gehen. Ein sehr guter Plan!

Four of us had dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The food was very, very tasty, the service was very correct, the price-performance ratio was okay and: the concept is fantastic.

Were there because of the integrative concept. The food is solid and OK, but for the price it's not particularly sophisticated or has a wow effect. Service staff seemed rather unmotivated, no one could smile and, in my opinion, all cleared dishes should be put in the dishwasher and not reused for the next table. Absolute “no go” in terms of hygiene. A pity.

The three of us were in Kreuzberg heaven and we had also made a reservation. The staff is very attentive and the atmosphere is also quite nice. The drinks and food came extremely quickly and tasted good. However, I expected better for the price. I probably wouldn't go here again because for me the quality and price don't match.

Als Schwarztee kam statt Schwarztee ein earl Grey, Beuteltee von Teekanne. Die Vorspeisen waren Welten von syrischen Vorspeisen entfernt, alleine die geschmacksfreien, Dosenolivenscheiben kaum zu glauben. Als dann statt Lamm mit frischen Pilzen Schwein mit Dosenchampion kam und dabei Salat mit baldamicodressing aus der Supermarkttube, hab ich aufgehört zu glauben, hier wäre ein echter Koch am Werk. Das war alles schlimmer als im Falafelimbiss nebenban.

Sehr schlechter Service, wir sprachen mit einem Kellner und er ging. Sie wollten uns keine weitere Portion Brot bringen, weil sie sagten, wir hätten es aufgegessen. schreckliche Qualität und schlechte Produkte.

We became aware of the restaurant because of its special concept and think the idea is wonderful - it's a shame that it's the exception and not the rule when it comes to integration! We found the atmosphere really lively and the fact that we could share the table with other guests was a nice touch. The food tasted really good (the starter with the beetroot could use a little more spice ;)) and the two service guys served the entire dining room excellently. While we were eating, we philosophized about whether this concept could also be used to convince less tolerant people and ultimately came to the question of whether a restaurant with the same concept, but with German, home-style cuisine, would arouse the fear of “the refugees.” “could take, because the hurdle of “foreign food” would be eliminated ;-)

Mega nice restaurant, with a great concept and mega delicious food and a great ambience! Great service. My mother and I were thrilled. I live around the corner and it is now one of my absolute favorite restaurants 😊

I came here as I thought the concept was great, plus I’m a huge fan of Levantine cuisine having spent months working in Lebanon and having visited Syria in 2019. This said, everything was a disappointment: starting from the shared table with another couple (though I booked a table in advance — no privacy) and the room was extremely cold and had to eat with my coat on. Tablecloth was spotted and dirty in many places, this isn’t fine for a medium price range restaurant, no doubt about this. The food: I would only save baba ganoush, sadly muttabal wasn’t available as many other dishes. So I ordered koussa bil Laban and the portion (see picture) was embarrassing small for the price. There was hardly any meat in the zucchini. My mum got kibbeh. I tried them. They were tasteless, completely lacked of spices. I could only taste the bulgur from the shell. She couldn’t finish them. The service was not attentive at all. I sadly won’t be back, one star cause 0 isn’t an option. Good Levantine food is somewhere else in Berlin, at fair prices and with Levantine portion sizes, not children’s ones.

When reserving a table, it wasn't stated that you had a time slot of two hours. There were four of us in the restaurant. The menu is clear. Five minutes after ordering, the waiter said that my dish wasn't available today. I chose a different dish. The meal, including the starter, was served at the same time. My dish came in 10 minutes. later. I had just ordered a glass of wine when we were asked to pay and leave. I could no longer drink the glass of wine in peace. It has nothing to do with enjoyment and the service was poor.

Great concept! That's why we're there! But I really expected more. We were there on a Friday evening. It was very crowded and loud. Which in itself is nice for the restaurant. The furnishings are very thrown together and a bit 80s style with double tablecloths. We sat in a corner where there was hardly any light and only a small lamp (on the fairly large table for a total of 8 people) was illuminated. The service was poor and not attentive. However, there were only 2 waiters there when the shop was full. After the starter platter (highly recommended) for 2, we had main courses - overall it was a bit too much because we were very hungry. The main courses were rather disappointing. The plates were really old school again... and we weren't even asked when we were clearing away the main course whether it was tasty. Plates were still full, but when I said I wanted to pay, they were immediately collected and then cleared away. There is definitely still potential and room for improvement here. The Baba Ganoush was an absolute delight, but I still wouldn't go there again.

Ich bin geflasht und habe schon öange nicht mehr so gut gegessen. Ich bin vor Jahren mit dem auto durch Syrien gefahren als es noch möglich war und dieser Abend hier erinnert mich an die Köstlichkeiten. Und die Geschichte hinter der Küche finde ich sehr lobenswert. So sollte Integration sein, positiv für beide Seiten. Ich liebe es ;)))

Ich gebe 5/5 Sterne. Dennoch ein paar Tipps: 1.) Die Wasserflasche vor dem Gast öffnen und Wasser in die Gläser eingießen. Uns würde die Flasche nur relativ laut auf den Tisch gestellt. 2.) Ein bisschen mehr Sensibilität und Gastfreundschaft bei Gesprächen mit Gästen. Kann mir vorstellen, dass das bei Euch eigentlich immer der Fall ist, an dem Abend wirktet ihr aber sehr gestresst und hattet eine sehr ernste Ansprache. Passt nicht so ganz, wenn man einen entspannten Abend möchten. Insgesamt aber tolles Restaurant und super Essen. 5/5

Super service und alle Getränke waren auch mega. Die Kellner gehen die extra Meile

Wir waren in den vergangenen zwei Monaten 3x dort, und das Essen war jedesmal perfekt. Wir lieben die Vorspeisenplatte - ein Traum. Und das Tabouleh. Und das Huhn mit Orange. Und...und...und... Bei einem der Besuche war der Himmel mit einer britischen Gruppe fast vollständig ausgebucht, trotzdem hatte der Service alles im Griff und das Essen kam schnell und lecker angerichtet, auch die Getränke sind gepflegt. Über das Konzept hinter dem Kreuzberger Himmel muss man ja nichts mehr sagen - Chapeau!

Freilaufender Hund vom Inhaber im Restaurant und Auswahl der Speisen absolut kein Wiederholungsbedarf. Ausstattung ist viel zu sehr durcheinander und die Bedienung war sehr herrisch.... (Frage: kann ich das Gericht auch ohne Käse bekommen... Antwort: nein das ist so vorgekocht!) Leider muss ich sagen bin ich hungrig nach Hause gegangen

Konstant leckeres Essen, frisch und homemade, man merkt die Liebe zum Detail und die Aufmerksamkeit des Teams, Das Konzept ist super und wer die Küche des Nahen Ostens mag ist dort richtig - das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist grossartig, die Lage perfekt, taugt auch als reguläres Familienrestaurant. Also Leute: nur hin da!

Sehr tolles Lokal ! Und tolles Projekt, nachahmenswert - denke ich für andere Städte ! Mit Geflüchteten, die Rezepte aus ihrer Heimat auf den Tisch bringen! Immer eine Überlegung wert ! Not open until 12am, went at 10:30pm and they turned us away and said they were closed. Seems good food but restaurant should update hours.

ABSOLUTE ENTTÄUSCHUNG. Das Essen war qualitativ nicht einmal annähernd auf dem Level, welches es eigentlich für ein Restaurant haben sollte. Beim bestellen der Getränke wurde mir gesagt, dass sowohl Sprite als auch Cola nicht bestellbar wäre. Daraufhin sah ich unzählige rausgaben von Cola und Sprite. Als Kunde fühlt man sich dabei einfach nur verarscht.

The restaurant was lively and busier than many others in the area-a good sign. Service was quick and friendly. The warm starter was delicious and great value. The two mains were flavoursome and beautifully cooked. The menu seems fairly fixed based on other reviews.

Waren gestern dort Essen. Hab seit langem nicht mehr so lecker gegessen. Hatte Fatteh Makdoush. Eine Explosion des Geschmacks! Werde definitiv wieder kommen.

I had the Faroug, it was a tasty meal but maybe too lemony but would guess that’s the authentic version. Service was nice and meal was decent portion.

Also vom Himmel ist hier nicht die Rede. Schlechter Service. Null Bock-Haltung. Der Kellner hat nicht mal die Weinflasche geöffnet und hat sie auf den Tisch gepackt. Ein Kühler musste extra geordert werden. Das Essen war durchschnittlich - nichts besonderes, die Champignons waren leider nicht frisch, wie angegeben - vom Geschmack, eher langweilig. Es hat keinen Spaß gemacht hier zu sitzen. Leute, dann lasst es doch einfach, wenn ihr kein Bock auf Restaurant-Betrieb habt. Schade um meine Zeit und um mein Geld.

Sehr leckeres Essen. Absolut frisch und gut ausgewählt. Service sehr nett. Man kann auch draußen sehr schön sitzen. Absolut zu empfehlen.

Eigentlich hatten wir nebenan im Casa Mia reserviert... aber da war zu und hier (gleich nebenan) war offen und Platz. Also testen! Libanesisch/orientalische Küche ware für uns alle neu. Aber wir waren begeistert. Es war sehr lecker und der Service aufmerksam. Das Restaurant ist nicht sehr groß und daher stehen die Tische etwas eng. Für meinen Geschmack etwas zu eng, da ich ungern die Gespräche vom Nachbarn hören wollte... aber ansonsten sehr schön.

Ein so schönes Konzept und so leckeres Essen, einfach toll. Wir gehen gern dort hin und lassen es uns gut gehen. Das ist Essen ist für mich immer ein Highlight und die Bedienung stets freundlich. Wir hatten bisher nur schöne Abende dort und freuen uns auf das nächste mal.

What a find. Superb Syrian restaurant run by and for refugees. Plenty of veggie options. Lush tabbouleh and kibbeh. Great Lebanese wine as well. Great service from our Pakistani waiter.

Komplexe Küche, einfache Karte, netter Kellner und gutes Essen. Wie im Himmel eben.

Wir waren vor ein Paar Tagen mit Freunden dort zum Abend essen und haben nur die Vorspeisen bevorzugt. Wir hatten eine Platte mit allen Dips und die waren echt sehr lecker und frisch. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich. Die Lage ist sehr zentral, aber wenn man draußen sitzt, ist es sehr laut, da es eine sehr lebendige Straße ist. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Dieser Laden hat ein sehr sehr schönes Konzept. & Dazu schmeckt das Essen sehr! Anfangs war ich etwas skeptisch, da das Restaurant nicht so voll war. Jedoch hat mich das Essen & das Ambiente sehr überzeugt. Super lecker gewürztes & authentisches Essen. Ich würde immer wieder hier hin kommen. Eine absolute Empfehlung & ein tolles soziales Projekt was man zusätzlich unterstützt!

Kleines Restaurant, mit leckerem Essen aus der arabisch(?)-internationalen Küche, sehr freundliches Team und dabei noch ein soziales Projekt. So geht das freundliche Berlin!

Erstklassiges orientalisches Essen und sehr freundlicher Service. Wir werden den Kreuzberger Himmel bei unserer nächsten Berlinreise sicher wieder einplanen.

Deutsche werden das Essen eventuell noch genießen können, wer aber aus der arabischen Region kommt, sollte sich unbedingt etwas anderes suchen.
