While there's nothing to complain about regarding the service and welcome, I find the single menu pricey. Everything is good and homemade, of course, but the price is still €33 excluding drinks. Wine is €9.90 per glass, cocktails are around €12, and dessert is to be shared between two. We also had to leave without waiting too long for the second course of the evening. At that price, I like to be given time to decide if and when I want to leave. A good experience overall.

We really like the basic idea of ​​the restaurant!!! First, the positive: The food was consistently delicious and tasty. There was a set menu, and all tables were served in the same order. This brings us to the negative: We had to wait 40 minutes for the first dishes. This is incomprehensible to us, as most dishes can be prepared well in advance. A second negative point is the tableware. What looked like stylish ceramic turned out to be plastic. All the bowls and plates were made of plastic! I don't think that's very nice. Conclusion: Delicious food, but the surroundings were a little lacking.

I'd long wanted to try the famous hummus here. Finally, the timing worked out, and we were able to enjoy hummus and shakshuka. On the hottest day of 2025 so far, the homemade lemonade was extremely refreshing. I also prepare both dishes in my own kitchen, but I absolutely had to try these prepared by professional chefs. The various appetizers were also excellent. It was truly delicious. 😋 The friendliness of the waiters and the ambiance left nothing to be desired. ☺️ I definitely recommend a visit! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

A very nice idea to unite Palestine and Israel, but unfortunately, the shop doesn't have good staff. They apologize profusely and nicely, but it would be better if so many things weren't forgotten or brought out incorrectly, and if everything went faster overall. The food is simple, which would be okay if the quality were top-notch. Unfortunately, although both kitchens have great spices, much of it is rather blandly seasoned. This is my second time there and unfortunately I won't be going back.

Delicious hummus. It’s probably the best hummus I’ve had in Berlin. Most dishes are either vegan or available in vegan versions. Was very disappointed to read that it might be closing. If it’s true, I recommend folks try it out before that happens.

A great restaurant with delicious food and a super cozy atmosphere: many different great small plates are served for the whole group to share. All dishes are vegetarian, and there are vegan and gluten-free options for everything. The four of us couldn't finish everything and were allowed to take the leftovers home with us – so we had a few extra treats for lunch the following day. Highly recommended!

Had a small good-bye party here and it was fantastic! The food, the atmosphere, the service. We all had a fabulous time. The co-owner and the staff are SO accomodating and warm. We were a group of secular Jews, Muslims, and fallen Christians and just had the best time. Kanaan is one last oasis where Israelis and Palestinians come together.

This was our first time here and we were immediately impressed: a diverse, welcoming restaurant with high-quality food. You can taste the love and care that goes into the cooking. Ben David is attentive and explains the dishes very precisely. Unfortunately, the restaurant is currently going through a difficult time due to political reasons. This makes it all the more important to support this special place dedicated to diversity and quality – we will definitely be back!

Great hummus, great cocktail: arak with pomegranate cranberries lemonade

I'm a bit conflicted about my review of Kanaan. I absolutely want Kanaan to be preserved; right now, places of international understanding like this are needed more than ever. That's why I was looking forward to going there again. I have to say, though, that our dinner was rather disappointing. There's only a set menu; you eat what you get. I knew that. The starters were solidly standard. Apart from the vine leaves, everything was cold, all quite good, but nothing exceptional. The main course was a stuffed onion, delicious, and vegan shawarma, which turned out to be just cold, supermarket-style "vegan chicken" with equally cold fried vegetables and rice. We weren't impressed. The service, unfortunately, didn't make up for it. While it was really friendly, we did have to wait 15 minutes for a drink. The fact that, thanks to expensive drinks, two meals and a total of four glasses of wine (two per person) end up coming to just under €120 leaves a rather bitter aftertaste. I hope Kanaan overcomes its crisis and increases its offerings again.

I was invited to a birthday party there, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was very good and plentiful, the dishes kept coming, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was very friendly and attentive. The birthday girl even received a serenade; everything was perfect. And the concept is also very nice.

We had an amazing Brunch experience at Kanaan. Although we already reached the end of the "brunch time" the super friendly waiter generously offered us to still order the brunch menu - which was just the right choice for us foodies. Loads of delicious dishes were served, although we all were hungry we were unable to finish everything. The biggest recommendation!

Great food, a wonderful place where you simply feel welcome, and a project absolutely worth supporting! And there's also a fantastic cookbook with the best "Canaan" recipes to try at home...

You sit at Kanaan, order nothing—because you can't order anything—and yet the table fills with plates, as if you've ended up at a family gathering you weren't actually invited to. A menu, countless courses, 33 euros—and you immediately wonder how they calculate it. At some point, I stopped counting whether it was the seventh or the twelfth plate, and simply resigned myself to the fact that eating here doesn't proceed linearly, but exponentially. The nice thing is: you suddenly find yourself discussing hummus like you normally only discuss philosophy or politics. "This one is creamier, that one has more acid..."—and before you realize you're behaving like a self-proclaimed gourmet, the next course arrives. It's impossible not to leave with a smile. And honestly, for that price, it would be impossible to complain—even if you wanted to.

The vibes are fantastic. A place everyone should visit at least once in their lives. Not joking - the hummus is out of the world, the service is working hard and friendly, as well as accomodating. I came for the concept and stayed for the food. The idea of a Palestinian-Israeli restaurant got my curiosity from the start. The moment that the food arrived at our table brought up the delicious aroma of all the spices and fresh baked bread. The Potatos with Zatar are great. The Stuffed Onions and the Falafels are amazing. But my favorite of all was the Labneh with Roasted Beetroot. Best beetroot I’ve had in my life! The atmosphere is welcoming and the owner (one of the two) was very kind and attentive to the clients. Unfortunately the Brunch Menu is only available during weekends but they do have a shared menu for dinner everyday. I’d definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone visiting or living in Berlin!

Kanaan is a typical and wonderful Berlin experience. The food was excellent. The menu consists of a very large selection of starters, two main courses, and a dessert. The food is shared. We were already full after the first course, so it's a good idea to ask for a takeaway box while we were still enjoying our starters. The service was very attentive and courteous. However, only English was spoken. Given that I'm not vegetarian/vegan, the restaurant impressed me even more. A convincing ambassador for meat-free cuisine. We'd be happy to come back. Highly recommended!

We had Kannan cater our company summer event – and it was simply perfect! The quantities were just right, and everyone raved about the food all evening (and even the next day). It was so delicious that even when everyone was already stuffed, no one could stop eating. The team was incredibly helpful – even when I was driving them a little crazy with the setup because we had to move from the outdoor area to the indoors at short notice due to a storm. They were incredibly supportive in helping us manage the quick location change smoothly. Food: 100 points, Service: 100 points. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Unfortunately, the food was very poor for the price. It tasted very bland. The quality was noticeably inadequate for the price. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also unpleasant. It was the worst restaurant I've been to in a long time.

A few years ago, Kanaan was still one of the better Israeli restaurants. But the quality has declined massively. Hummus was cheesy and bland. Even the pita was a tragedy, dry and certainly from the day before. Clearly no longer a good place for hummus and the like.

We knew Kananan through Instagram and had previously eaten at Jalil's in Israel. Unfortunately, what we experienced here as a family was a complete rip-off. There were five of us – two adults and three children (3, 9, and 10 years old). Since we know the portion sizes from Israel, we only wanted to order two portions. However, the waiter said that anyone 10 and older counts as an adult – and didn't even believe us when we said one of our daughters is only 9. In the end, we had to order four menus at €33 each. We later realized that the portions were actually meant for two people – but they were charged per person! Meaning: If you come alone, you pay €33 and get the same amount as two people together. Totally unfair and not transparent. The hummus tasted rather mediocre, and the portions were very small overall – definitely not what you'd expect for that price. Also, the dishes didn't match what was advertised on the menu. Three advertised items were missing, and the waiter simply said that the kitchen decides spontaneously what to serve – no advance notice. Conclusion: All show, little substance. Expensive, dishonest, and not family-friendly. For us, this was definitely our first and last visit.

Kanaan is an AMAZING place that shows what life can look like when Israelis and Palestinians come together. I wish I had the time to eat everything on the menu. I loved the dishes I ate; the labneh was DELICIOUS. The warmth and vibe of the restaurant is so delightful. Kanaan provides a lot of hope for what can be. It is the perfect restaurant for now. I cannot wait to come back when I return to Berlin.

At a table booked well in advance, with the comment that I was allergic to gluten in bread, two slices of eggplant were served as a bread substitute. The dining time was limited to two hours, and the waiter reminded me three times that the table would have to be cleared immediately. Overall, the atmosphere was hectic, the food mediocre, and the price was unfortunately too high.

As a big fan of Israeli and Palestinian cuisine, I had hoped for much more – because it's wonderful, but unfortunately, it's not authentically presented here. We hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and improves service and quality.

A lovely place in Berlin that I finally got to visit with my husband. I had read about and watched a video about the restaurant and wanted to both support the concept and enjoy good food. 🍋‍🟩🥗🥙 We shared a starter consisting of zataar-spiced lemon potatoes and of course hummus with shakshuka. Everything tasted delicious. We also shared a carafe of homemade lemonade with fresh mint leaves. 💚 Kanaan is located on a peaceful and colorful street, which is a good fit. 🙏🏽🩷❤️🧡💛🦋

We are really disappointed, the service is really slow and bad. We ordered a brunch that has small plates with hummus and different pastes. No need to cook. Then the poched egg toast came an hour and a half later. No apology or whatsoever. On top of it, it’s overpriced for the food and service they offer. I don’t recommend it.

I’ve been coming here regularly, watching you grow, always happy to pay more because the experience was worth it. Then you introduced this 12-course sharing menu with deliberately misleading marketing copy: “designed for sharing” and “available for a minimum of two guests.” Any reasonable person booking for 4 would assume they could order 2 menus to share. Your own words suggest this. But when we arrived, staff demanded we order 4 full menus—48 courses for 4 people. That’s not hospitality, that’s a cash grab disguised as a dining experience. Here’s what you’ve created: A system that forces customers to waste food and overpay, then dismisses their concerns when they object. Your staff couldn’t even acknowledge that your marketing is confusing, let alone offer any solution. To fellow diners: This isn’t about the €66 extra we’d have spent. It’s about a restaurant that’s lost its way. They’ve prioritized revenue extraction over customer care, forcing you into a rigid, wasteful system with zero flexibility. The Palestinian and Israeli cuisine is still excellent, but you’ll be treated like a transaction, not a guest. We walked out hungry after years of loyalty. That should tell you everything. The real tragedy? Great food and genuine culinary heritage being overshadowed by tone-deaf business practices. You had something special here—a neighborhood place where people felt welcomed. Now you’re just another restaurant that thinks trendy concepts matter more than treating people decently. Fix your misleading marketing. Train your staff in basic hospitality. Remember that your longtime customers made you successful in the first place. Bottom line: When restaurants choose profits over people, everybody loses.

I have the cookbook, and we visited the restaurant on our trip to Berlin. From the very beginning, we had the best possible impression of service and friendliness. The staff are courteous and make you feel very comfortable right away. We chose the menu from various appetizers, two main courses, and dessert. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it: €33 per person, plus drinks. The menu is well-organized, with timetables, and the layout of the place is comfortable. The music and the attentive service from the entire team are a delight to the palate. I highly recommend this beautiful experience, a fusion of both Palestinian and Israeli cuisines. Supporting these types of projects is important for the world, where wars know no love. But here, there's love in the kitchen, in the team, in the food! This was so delicious! They have a fixed menu, where you get a lot of cold starters in small plates with bread, where you can get refill on what you like. That is followed by two bigger main dishes, and then a dessert. All for 33€ per person. We decided to get some of their cocktails as well, which was known cocktails with a twist - really good! All the dishes were vegetarian and packed so much taste. The staff where really nice and observant. Definitely a great experience and cannot recommend it enough!
