Wir waren zum Abendessen im Kanaan und unser Besuch war von Anfang bis Ende ein schönes Erlebnis. Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt- die Mitarbeiter im Service waren freundlich und kompetent. Bestellt haben wir das Menü mit zahlreichen Vorspeisen zum Teilen. Zu jeder Speise gab es eine Erklärung. Wirklich gut 👍 Es folgten zwei Hauptspeisen und ein großes Dessert. I have the cookbook, and we visited the restaurant on our trip to Berlin. From the very beginning, we had the best possible impression of service and friendliness. The staff are courteous and make you feel very comfortable right away. We chose the menu from various appetizers, two main courses, and dessert. Everything was great—served in individual bowls and with an explanation of what was being served. There was truly plenty, and we could have ordered more. The cuisine at Kanaan is excellent—when we're in Berlin, we'll definitely be back.

Excellent Welcome! The menu is divided into several steps: appetizers, main courses, and desserts. I reserved a table to celebrate my husband's birthday, and we really celebrated! We felt very welcomed, the waitress was very kind to us and explained all the steps! (I don't remember her name, but I think it was Lia or something like that.) The food is excellent, with good portions, sizes, and flavors. You can order vegan options, as was our experience. Everything is meant to be shared, although the price per person is the same. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it: €33 per person, plus drinks. The menu is well-organized, with timetables, and the layout of the place is comfortable. The music and the attentive service from the entire team are a delight to the palate. I highly recommend this beautiful experience, a fusion of both Palestinian and Israeli cuisines. Supporting these types of projects is important for the world, where wars know no love. But here, there's love in the kitchen, in the team, in the food! Oh, and if you're here in the summer, I recommend reserving a table outside!

This was so delicious! They have a fixed menu, where you get a lot of cold starters in small plates with bread, where you can get refill on what you like. That is followed by two bigger main dishes, and then a dessert. All for 33€ per person. We decided to get some of their cocktails as well, which was known cocktails with a twist - really good! All the dishes were vegetarian and packed so much taste. The staff where really nice and observant. Definitely a great experience and cannot recommend it enough!

I've eaten here twice and both times the food has been excellent. You can expect to be really full - there's always enough food. It's a really nice place. It can be busy and it can feel a bit hectic, but when they were behind, they served us free lemonade. So of course it can be busy, but they also have an eye for that. I recommend this restaurant to everyone I know who's traveling to Berlin.

We were in Berlin as part of the Easter Leather Weekend, 17. - 20.4.2025. As I had come across an article online on the horrendous attack on on Kanaan on the berliner site roughly a year ago (24/7/24), I instantly set out to support this magnificent project, so rounded up my friends together, booked and soon made it ourselves comfy here. And it was a perfect eve: the friendly-flirty service, the atmosphere, not to mention the excellent food (was swooning about the creamy Hummus days after!) And this is how to do it - bringing people together: it’s a perfect setting and reminder how easy it is to be dehumanised by the most horrendous ideologies, yet how basic our common needs are: a safe space, to meet fellow minds, with excellent food and drink, together. Esto nos lo había recomendado un amigo y estaba ocupado la noche que fuimos. El concepto no se explicó completamente, pero no importa. Te dan ocho mezze para empezar (algunas porciones son muy pequeñas) , luego dos platos "principales" y luego un pudín (tiene buena relación calidad-precio en torno a 33 euros) . Algunos de los platos eran muy buenos, otros menos atractivos. Tuvimos una camarera muy amable. Tuvo que comprobar muchas cosas con otros y luego descubrimos que estaba "entrenando". Hizo un buen trabajo. ¿Regresaría? Probablemente no como me gustaría probar en otro lugar.

I loved the food here! It's a wonderful blend of Israeli and Palestinian dishes, all vegetarian (but vegan is possible). The food is served as a fixed menu which came as a relaxing difference to other places I visited. And don't worry about not having enough - we were asked multiple times if we needed more of anything. Additionally, I want to point out their cocktails. They lean on the sweeter side, but can be boozy. I want to point out their Arak mixes as my favorites. It's a smaller place, but bigger groups can be supported. I strongly suggest to reserve in advance. However, same day reservations are possible if your group is small enough (and especially for two). I can't say if this place is good enough for one person, tho. Online they say that coming along could be a problem, but the menus in the restaurant mentioned that you can order for a single person (it just costs more).

Oh my god the food here is BOMB!!! If you're into mediterranean style food, this is a must. Such flavorful and colorful dishes. The tahini with beetroot is amazing, so are the zataar potatoes and the grape leaf rolls. They have a very delightful mint lemonade. And the sheperd's pie was incredible!! Would go back! The place isn't the prettiest, decoration wise. It's okay, nothing bad just not fancy or cute. Staff is friendly and attentive!

Delicious hummus. It’s probably the best hummus I’ve had in Berlin. Most dishes are either vegan or available in vegan versions.

I had read many good things about this restaurant and was looking forward to trying it, but it was extremely disappointing. None of the dishes tasted fresh, and each individual dish was one of the worst versions of that dish that I have tried. Everything needed salt, and each dish tasted like it came from a supermarket deli - the hummus at any grocery store is better. Also, for what it is, the set menu isn't all that cheap. You can get a much tastier dinner at many other restaurants in Berlin for less. Very disappointing. Also, the bathrooms were filthy.

Visited here a couple of times and I've always liked the food. However the service today was terrible. Specifically 1 girl (black haired to ensure I don't point to the wrong person). She was plenty rude and behaved as if we've come for free food. Mind you, she was selectively rude to a few people. Absolutely hated being here and it was a mood kill. Hope the restaurant fixes this.

An unusual restaurant with a fixed menu. For us there were 12 starters - great for cheerful lines, a main course and dessert with fruit. What's really delicious are the unusual creations from Palestinian and Jewish cuisine and the spices! Super delicious! The only drawback: The big bottles for the lemonade make a mess! Plus: Super nice, lovely waitresses from queries to normal people! Top!

Unfortunately not a location for a cozy evening with friends (there were four of us). This is particularly due to the two-hour slots granted to guests. At times we felt like we were being processed at a mass meal. The service was friendly. The food was delicious again.

A superb discovery in a nice little neighborhood. A unique menu with an assortment of excellent and original dishes. This dining experience was incredible, the flavors and textures superb and the hummus was some of the best I have ever eaten. Bonus, everything is veggie. I recommend without hesitation!

Super friendly service, super delicious food that is distributed in small bowls all over the table so that everyone can try everything. So everyone can find something to fill them up. Ordering more bread or food is no problem! Definitely worth a visit!

We really wanted to like this place but honestly it fell flat on every level. To start the service is absolutely awful. After we were seated we waited at least 20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink orders. The food was edible but nothing to write home about and very overpriced for what it was. The wait time to get food was really long and the servers didn’t come by at all. They also seemed irritated when we asked for more drinks/reminded them we’d ordered water that wasn’t brought over. Although the environment is nice the lack of attentiveness and mediocre food made this place very underwhelming.

Und das alles zu einem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, das sich sehen lassen kann. Ein Ort, den man erlebt haben muss – und den wir am liebsten sofort wieder besuchen würden.

I come here every time I'm in Berlin. It feeds my soul to support an queer Palestinian and Jewish co-owned business. The food is delicious - especially the homemade breads. I just wish they (along with the amazing hummus) arrived first because we were hungry waiting and then there's so much food on the table (portions for the prix fixe are very generous). Highly recommend!

My family and I had lunch at Kanaan on Sunday. We ordered à la carte - and everything was perfect! All of us enjoyed the great vegetarian/vegan options!

I love Arabic food and know some good restaurants/snacks. Unfortunately, your restaurant is not one of them. There is only one menu for 30 euros. Which would be completely okay in terms of price if the food tasted good. In the entire menu only one small dish was good. These were small sandwiches with hummus. The soup was a puree and not liquid at all. The other dishes were not well seasoned, if you can speak of seasoning here. We had to use a lot of salt and pepper, although we only use salt when necessary. Otherwise the rice dish was quite dry and bland. The dessert was a type of panna cotta that was very very solid and tasted quite mediocre. We sat by the toilets and unfortunately it was unbearable due to the smell that wafted over from time to time. And it was very cold at the table at the front door through the front door. However, we were also here in March. Very disappointing.

Habe die beiden Gründer im Fernsehen gesehen und fand die Idee super. Da wir aber nur an einem Sonntag dort essen gehen konnten, mussten wir das angebotene Menü für 29 Euro pro Person nehmen. Es hat uns geschmeckt, doch unserer Meinung nach war der Preis für das Essen, was wir erhielten, leider nicht angemessen. Gemütlich sitzen konnte man auch nicht, da es ziemlich kalt und zugig war. Alles in allem hatten wir uns ein schöneres Erlebnis vorgestellt.

I saw the two founders on TV and thought the idea was great. Since we could only eat there on a Sunday, we had to take the menu offered for 29 euros per person. We enjoyed it, but in our opinion the price for the food we received was unfortunately not entirely appropriate. You couldn't sit comfortably either because it was quite cold and drafty. All in all, we had imagined a nicer experience.

Im Restaurant war es kalt, der Service schlurfte unmotiviert durch die Gänge und zweitweise war kein Kellner in Sichtweite. Der Kellner hinter der Bar schlotzte sehr lieblos den Nachtisch auf die Teller - nicht sehr appetitlich. Die Hauptgerichte waren kalt und nichts besonderes, der Preis letztendlich viel zu hoch für das was es war. Das ganze wirkte wie Massenabfertigung mit sehr hoher Gewinnmarge. Ich verstehe den Hype um das Restaurant überhaupt nicht, denn die Geschichte dahinter ist zwar toll, aber der Rest lässt stark zu wünschen übrig. Eine sehr große Enttäuschung, denn ich hatte mir schon lange gewünscht hier zu speisen. Wir werden sicher nicht zurückkommen.

I come here every time I am in Berlin. The food is just outstanding! A wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes with exceptional flavours. My favourite is the brunch on the weekend and the wide selection of starters. The staff is super friendly and the vibe in general is very relaxed. I also had the set evening menu before which is also outstanding. I will definitely come back again.

The food was mediocre, in any case not according to the good reviews. There are much better Israeli restaurants in Berlin, which are also much nicer. Service was okay.

Disappointing experience for families I had reserved a table for my son (3) and myself as a reservation for just one person was not possible. However, we were informed on site that I would have to order two full menus. Even though I explained that my child couldn't possibly manage a whole meal and we could share one, this was firmly refused. Instead we were sent away just because we didn't want to order two menu items. I find such inflexibility, especially towards a mother with a child, very disappointing. I find it particularly irritating that the restaurant advertises openness and diversity, but in this case has shown no understanding or accommodation. If this rule had been pointed out when making the reservation or if an individual reservation had been made possible, this unpleasant situation could have been avoided. It's a shame because we were looking forward to the visit.

Had the menu for two today (Sunday). The taste wasn't convincing, unfortunately there was too much oil that wasn't particularly tasty and it wasn't very seasoned. The service seemed unprofessional overall; our waitress was wearing a baggy fleece sweater and ripped jeans and wasn't particularly friendly. You eat from plastic plates. While we were eating, two tables next to us were sprayed with Sagrotan hygiene spray and cleaned, which was very unpleasant. Overall it wasn't worth the €25 per person for me. It's a shame, I actually think the idea of ​​an Israeli-Palestinian restaurant is really great, especially given the current circumstances. You could do a lot more with it!

The food is good but only 1 dessert to share with a misunderstanding about the coffee and a bottle of water charged 7€ even though we had asked for normal tap water. We had often eaten hummus (Zula), but never full Israeli/Palestinian dishes. The restaurant is simple, the staff is friendly. The choice of dishes is limited to the vegan version or those with cheese. This makes things a lot easier if you don't know the courts. We really liked the idea of a fixed shared menu. The food was solid. Not mind blowing but everyone found something they really liked. The service was very good. One thing we found disturbing was the smell of toilet, weed and burned hair. It was not present throughout the complete evening, but reoccurring.

The design and lighting are loveless. It was cold in the shop. And until the sewage problem is solved - it smells like a toilet everywhere - in my opinion this shop should be closed. The authorities should actually intervene. Pity us somehow scandalous.

I discovered Canaan on Instagram. Yesterday the three of us were there and were excited to see what awaited us. First of all, we received a very warm welcome and felt welcome from the start! I love the concept of having a planned menu. The only choice is between vegetarian and vegan. We were more than happy with our vegetarian version! We will definitely come back! The prices are fair and the atmosphere at Kanaan was very good. Clear recommendation! The only thing I could complain about here would be the plastic dishes, which are very pretty but unfortunately...😉

This was a truly exceptional experience. The food was phenomenal, both me and my friend are meat eaters but didn’t miss the meat for a second. We both walked out perfectly happy and full. The drinks were great, and the service was outstanding. We went to a bar recommended by one of the waiters after and had a great time. An amazing gem we’ll be recommending to all of our friends!

Very delicious restaurant with fusion kitchen. Everything from the pomegranate lemonade to the dessert was so delicious.

We were there for dinner. There is a set menu for 29eur per person. Individual dishes were a great taste experience. Others, unfortunately, not so much (cauliflower was completely cooked until soft, some was only lukewarm). It gives the impression that not everything was freshly prepared. Maybe that's because of the concept. The price-performance ratio is definitely not right. Drinks are also very expensive. However, portions were sufficient. Service was top. All the waiters were very attentive and friendly. A big negative point and a reason for me not to go there again: the toilet stinks and is unfortunately dirty right down to the corners. Black, sticky dirt on the floor, on the tile edges, dirt on the door, dirty sink. And this wasn't the dirt of a few hours, but of days and weeks. Unfortunately, this is an absolute no-go for me and corresponds zero to the look and hype that the restaurant wants to convey.

Great place for brunch. Shashuska was delicious but spicy for my taste, eggplant and salad that came with brunch was excellent. Recommended.

We had the sharing menu and therefore had a good overview. The taste is actually rather one-dimensional and really nothing unusual. The highlight was the simple eggplant with tomato. There were several lowlights: the house bread (simple, dry flatbread) WITHOUT dips, “Napoleons” puff pastry with wild herb cream, the dessert. Small tables (the opened wine in the bottle cooler was simply placed on the floor next to the fan heater after it was served). The service was friendly, but not entirely attentive.

All in all an annoying experience... There is actually only one menu in the evening for 29 EUR per person. (See photo) It all comes at once and is quite small for two people. Therefore, I find the price-performance ratio questionable. If it was an "all you can eat" menu and we could have ordered individual items, then we were not told. We would describe the overall atmosphere in the store as “annoying” and stressful. As soon as you come in, you run into other guests waiting between the counter and the door, which creates an unpleasant feeling. The employees seem overwhelmed and rushed. When in contact, they are friendly and do their best, but are really difficult to understand because they communicate in hasty English which is difficult or only partial to follow. The atmosphere in the restaurant is like a canteen and quite loud. The food is good! That's why you do this to yourself. Maybe I'll go there again if there's something to order from the menu. There should be, but I can't for the life of me see WHEN. 🫨

Disappointing lunch, soggy tepid cauliflower ‘fritters’ drenched in hummus.

We had a menu that was very diverse and extremely tasty. So colorful, so interesting in terms of flavor combinations, good service and at the end a warming, delicious orange blossom tea. There were three of us eating and we didn't make a reservation. We got a table in the back room. Unfortunately there was a foul smell coming from the kitchen. A menu only is offered for €29.00; you cannot order dishes individually. We were looking forward to visiting the restaurant because Kanaan was recommended by “With pleasure”. The cuisine is said to be Israeli-Palestinian. So we expected fine Levantine food and were disappointed. The beetroot was not fresh and completely tasteless, the cauliflower was overcooked and watery, the coconut milk dessert also tasted watery. There was little good in this “menu” worth mentioning. In short, tasteless food for too much money. The very friendly service was positive, although - as in Mitte - they only spoke English. We were asked if we enjoyed the food. After we politely said no, the price for 1 menu was waived.

Too much hip, not enough top! December 16th, reserved at 6:00 p.m., for 5 people, got a table for 4. None of the photos so far show what it looked like at our table: the plates piled on top of each other everywhere, hardly any space for the cutlery on the left or right. Tasty, but too expensive. Despite promises to the contrary, we constantly had to put our empty plates on an empty neighboring table ourselves. Nobody asked for a second drink until 7:40 p.m. - I had to get up and ask for a coffee. But the invoice was presented at 7:45 p.m. because the second round of bookings was due at 8 p.m. At 7:50 p.m. we hadn't had our coffee yet when the completely blasé, arrogant request came to vacate the table. When I remarked that we would finish drinking first, the woman suddenly couldn't understand/speak English anymore and sent a colleague. In the back part (towards the toilet) of the guest room there was a cloaky smell. Repetition excluded.

16.12., reserviert zu 18:00, für 5 Personen, bekamen einen Tisch für 4. Keines der bisherigen Fotos zeigt, wie es dann an unserem Tisch aussah: die Teller überall übereinander getürmt, rechts und links kaum Platz für das Besteck. Lecker zwar, aber zu teuer. Trotz anderslautender Zusage mussten wir ständig unsere leeren Teller selber auf einen leeren Nachbartisch stellen. Bis 19:40 fragte niemand nach einem zweiten Getränkewunsch - ich musste aufstehen und mich nach einem Kaffee erkundigen. 19:45 wurde aber die Rechnung vorgelegt, weil 20:00 die zweite Buchungsrunde anstand. 19:50 hatten wir den Kaffee noch nicht getrunken, als die vollkommen blasiert arrogante Aufforderung kam, den Tisch frei zu geben. Auf meine Bemerkung, dass wir erst austrinken würden, konnte frau plötzlich auch kein Englisch mehr verstehen/sprechen und schickte eine Kollegin. Im hinteren Teil (in Richtung Toilette) des Gastraums roch es kloakisch. Wiederholung ausgeschlossen.

Man hat das Gefühl, dass man als Nichtstammgast trotz Reservierung nicht erwünscht ist. Der Service ist unfreundlich und hört bei der Bestellung nicht zu, im Restaurant ist es kalt. Das Essen war gut, hätte wärmer sein können, Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte kamen zusammen. Wir kommen nicht wieder und empfangen das Restaurant nicht.

I‘m so glad you’ve brought back Hummshuka. It was actually my first and favorite dish when I first discovered Kanaan years ago in the old location.

Very nice restaurant. We were there for brunch and did order two different dishes. For us already the starters were too much but everything was very tasty and we enjoyed it a lot. We will definitely come back to test the dinner options, but I can highly recommend coming here and enjoying the food. Especially in summer when you can sit outside. Also, we liked that it is a card only restaurant.

I visited this place for the first time tonight and it was an excellent experience. The menu was set and consisted of seven vegetarian dishes. The hummus with the vegan ragout was simply spectacular, but all the other dishes were delicious too. The waiter was extremely friendly, served us immediately and explained the menu in detail. I will definitely come back! Sono state stasera per la prima volta in this locale and is state an'ottima esperienza. The menu is now fisso, constituted by several vegetarian dishes. The hummus with the vegan ragù is in your heart's content, but it also has a very delicious taste. The camera is gentilissimo, it serves subito and it has an illustration of the menu in minute detail. Ci tornerò safe!

Food has been great and I like the one menu concept. Unfortunately it's been cold inside and it's been loud. Two things that can easily be changed. Service was nice and friendly but rather occupied and some confusion who was handling our table. Unfortunately we had to wait almost an hour until we were served that meant we had dinner 9 pm.

The food was delicious. We got the tasting menu to get a taste of everything and would definitely reccomend it. Would suggest booking a reservation in advance.

There were three of us and we had dinner quite early or lunch late. The rooms are small and simply furnished, but with a charm of Canaan, the biblical landscape. There is a hint of Arab-Israeli flair. If you need mica, you should go somewhere else. We liked it very much. Everything clean. The team was very friendly towards us and we immediately had a good impression. Great menu. Selected and got food quickly. Everything was good so far, but then things got significantly better. The food was incredibly good for all of us, no, excellent. We were thrilled and the portions were more than enough. Beautifully prepared and served in the dish from the oven, the food remained pleasantly hot. A fascinating taste. We were given great advice about dessert and enjoyed it even more to the fullest. It wasn't cheap but it wasn't expensive either, but it was certainly appropriate for the taste experience. In short: we were thrilled. We cannot confirm all the negative criticism read here. We'll definitely be happy to come back. P. S. I treated myself to the cookbook and have already read a few things. It's worth it. We'll be cooking with it next week!

Went here for my birthday lunch during a trip to Berlin with my husband and 4 month old son. The food and service were absolutely amazing and it’s a very baby friendly place! Great ambience and music too. We got the set lunch menu which included lots of food but definitely the way to go. Great Israeli red wine, too!

The food was beautifully explained and described when served. Since we didn't know what was available beforehand, it felt a bit like we were staying with friends. The many small dishes had very varied flavors, some of which were new to us. A feast for the palate. And the result was a very pleasant satiety and wholesomeness. Absolutely recommended.
