KOI 1984 in Regensburg

Pleasant and located in the pedestrian zone, relatively quiet, private, very friendly service, fresh ingredients. I opted for tuna tartare and pho with beef, both of which were excellent.

My absolute favorite sushi in Regensburg! 😍 There are many good sushi restaurants in the city, but the sushi at Koi has that special something and stands out in terms of flavor. It's not drowning in sauce, the rice is perfect, and everything is super fresh. No matter what you order, it's always delicious. The drinks are also special, look great, and taste really good. The ambiance is perfect: beautiful, harmonious, and cozy. The service is always super friendly, and you immediately feel welcome. I'm always happy to come back. :)

I went to this restaurant and was unfortunately very disappointed. I ordered €15 ramen, which tasted absolutely disgusting—it was completely inedible. I also had lemongrass water (€4), which had no flavor at all. My final bill came to €23, and the staff informed me that card payments are only accepted for amounts over €25. This means that if you don't have cash, you're forced to add a euro or two, even if you absolutely don't want to tip. Overall, a very unpleasant experience—both in terms of the food and the service.

If you are someone who loves to try everything on the menu, this asian-tapas restaurant is perfect. The food was fantastic and deeply flavorful. The Koi non-alcoholic drink I ordered was delightfully refreshing. The price was fair for the quality and quantity of food. Highly recommend

This was my first time at this sushi restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised. A variety of creative rolls and great options for vegetarians too. The service was friendly, the ambiance modern yet cozy. The prices are fair for the quality you get.

Never again – poor service in the rain and cold. We were very disappointed with our visit. Although numerous tables inside were visibly free, we were told that everything was reserved and we would have to sit outside – in the pouring rain and cold weather! Even after more than an hour, the supposedly reserved tables were still empty, giving the impression that we were simply turned away without any valid reason. The service was also unfriendly and unaccommodating, even though it was clear that the situation was unacceptable for guests. No offer of blankets, no solution – nothing. Absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant in this price range. We will definitely not be back and advise others to think carefully about whether they are truly welcome here.

A beautiful restaurant, and it was soooo delicious! At first, it was a bit hectic because there weren't enough seats available, even though we had a reservation (but we were also a bit early), but they pushed the tables together so everyone had room and generally made a great effort and were very friendly. The food was very, very, very delicious!!! Everyone was very happy and enjoyed it 😍 I would definitely come back!😍❤️

The sushi is wow, the fish feels fresh, we've eaten there 2 times. It was really delicious. A small thing that maybe could be a bother: depending on who's serving, they might not speak English or German at all and we didn't get a bill. Sometimes, you need to ask for a second portion of soja sauce. Personally, it doesn't bother me, the quality is really good, which left me pleasantly surprised. They deserve 5 stars. It's busy most of the times, for the second evening we made a reservation. Dessert (mocha ice cream) is also amazing!

We went there without a reservation on Sunday evening, June 15, 2025—no problem. We also went there for dinner on Tuesday, June 17, 2025—also without a reservation—but at 5 p.m. Our vegan dish was delicious, very appetizingly presented, and not too spicy. Very upset, we booked a table in this establishment and thought that they would really reserve it for us. But when we arrived he said that there were empty tables anyway and we could sit wherever we wanted. We made an order and only at the end the waiter said that payment by card was not possible, at that moment we could not withdraw money from the ATM. This was a lovely family friendly establishment located in the historic area of Regensberg Germany. Accepts Euro and Credit card for payment. Lively staff most of which can speak multiple languages to include, German, Vietnamese and English making ordering easy. No rush dinning with plenty of delicious menu options ranging from Sushi, soups, appetizers, coke drinks and alcohol, rice bowls and more. Great location to have both cooked and raw authentic and new sushi dishes. Located 40 minutes from JMRC Hohenfels. Very busy streets. No parking near restaurant, but parking is located in the surrounding areas. Total bill for a family of four/ drinks and shareable option was 💶88 euro.

The food is delicious and the value for money is top-notch! The homemade lemonades are delicious. The location is ordinary. There's not much privacy at the table, as the tables are very close together.

Were very satisfied. We spontaneously got a table on Sunday evening without a reservation. The drinks look great and were to our liking. The sushi starter was delicious and came very quickly. I can highly recommend the ramen as a main course, the broth is super tasty! Can only recommend it.

We both absolutely love this restaurant. The map and the interior are very beautiful and clearly designed. The service is very nice and accommodating and the food is simply fantastic 🤗 there is a great selection of tapas and sushi or udon if you prefer. Definitely to be recommended!

There were 5 of us at Koi on Saturday evening. The waitresses were very friendly and quick. The food came according to the number of guests. We had different dishes and everyone was very satisfied. The only negative point was that the music was a bit too loud for a restaurant.

We were there on Sunday lunchtime. The ambience is excellent. The presentation of the drinks is the finest. Unfortunately the food leaves a lot to be desired. The vegetables were fresh, the duck definitely wasn't, it was neither crispy nor really soft. The Special for 2 had a mountain of completely tasteless noodles on it. Even the 3 small sauces didn't make up for it. The green salad (garnish), which was sometimes very plentiful on the plates, was completely unseasoned. A quick toss in a dressing would have been enough. The summer rolls were simple, like at any snack bar...unfortunately. Unfortunately the sashimi wasn't worth the money. At most, the 6 tiny slices weighed 70g for €12.50. The portions, especially the main courses, are very small. You definitely won't feel full without an appetizer. The five of us paid €166.30. 1 drink each, a small, simple starter and a main course. Here the ambience and appearance of the food and drinks determine the price, unfortunately the taste, size and quality of the food are not convincing. We ate much better there. For the high price, we would have expected much more.

Very friendly service! The noble, stylish ambience invites you to feel good. The menu is varied and offers something for everyone - the sushi was particularly excellent. Only the vegan duck could have used a lot more sauce. Overall, a successful visit :)

We were visiting Regensburg and went back to KOI 1984. Our food was again very good and freshly prepared. We had a mega crunchy sushi as a starter. Then udon noodles with duck and phoe real soup. I am now finally a sushi fan. Our nice evening was rounded off by the incredibly nice ladies from the service.

The restaurant had very good food, though id prefer a bit larger of portion sizes. We sat outside which was nice however, I guess another store attached to the restaurant is having renovations done and there was a port a potty sitting out next to some of the guests while they ate. Only an eyesore for us but table placement may need to be considered when sitting outside

Vegan duck and lemonade was very nice

We were there for the first time yesterday. It is very nicely equipped, you feel very comfortable and can go out and eat in a relaxed manner. We all ordered different things and the conclusion we all came to was: the food tasted excellent. I ordered a sushi platter for two people because I thought I could easily manage it anyway. But I have to admit that the crowd really made me struggle and I ended up having to hand something over to my colleagues because I simply couldn't do everything.

I tried the udon noodles and was thrilled – really tasty! My colleagues had the sushi and said it was also very good. The selection is large, and there are many exciting dishes, especially for vegans. An absolute highlight was the lychee mocktail – really, really, really delicious! It was super refreshing and perfectly balanced. The ambience is modern and pleasant, and the staff was friendly. It can get a little crowded, but the food and drinks totally make up for it. We'll definitely be back!

I am extremely upset about the disastrous service at your restaurant. I had a reservation for February 14, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. that was already confirmed, and yet it was simply forgotten. When I tried to make contact by phone, I was simply rejected without warning and hung up on. Such unprofessional behavior is simply unacceptable and shows that you have no respect for your guests. The food was excellent. Overall it was very loud in the restaurant. What was a real shame, however, was that we were discreetly sent out after 1.5 hours even though we had already said that we would like some more dessert. We made reservations at 6:30 p.m. Apparently the table was reserved for 8 p.m. But we were only informed of this at 8:00 p.m., along with the bill. The first and last visit there for us. We can't even drink the drinks, including a bottle of Prosecco for €45, in peace

The restaurant is really busy and a reservation is necessary - especially in the evening. The dishes were convincing and very tasty, I had them 23. KIMCHICHI (really spicy, but that was intended) 66. UDON'T DIET with duck (simply delicious in combination) The cold (!) sake is also really good and is also a treat for Franconians who prefer dry wines. The service was friendly and professional and gave us really good advice on the sake selection. If we are in Regensburg again, we will come back to Koi1984!

The food took so long (more than 30 minutes) to get to us. Service was very bad and inadequate. The guy almost looked irritated from the start. We had ramen and seafood don. Taste wise, both were ok (but not the best). But the starters (spring roll) was very good.

I first wanted to make a reservation by phone, then I was told yes 7:30 p.m. would be fine, then they said it would be better at 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. and then I said I had to clarify it briefly, I would put myself on mute for a moment, please just stay tuned for a moment. I put it on mute and the lady hangs up. I call back 10 seconds later and no one answers. Then 10 minutes later I call again and say I want to make a reservation at 7:30 p.m. or 8 p.m., then the lady only says 8:30 p.m. That's just annoying. Then I no longer reserved.

Good Asian, fresh products, very nice presentation. We went to celebrate New Year's Eve. They hadn't noted our reservation but still found us a table, adorable! The only downsides of the evening: We waited 45 minutes for our dishes and the room was very noisy. This is not a restaurant with privacy

We had reserved for 5, but there was only 1 space for 4 people. We were promised 2 hours, but we were only able to order after 1 hour. The food was super delicious! The service, however, was very unfriendly. We had ordered dessert and a drink, but we didn't get the drink because we didn't have enough time for it. It's a shame, because the food is really good.

An extra request when ordering the food was taken into account, but not implemented. Even after asking, the request was not taken into account. Food was okay. A little rice for the curry. In the end you just sit with the sauce.

Basically a good restaurant; good food, moderate, reasonable price and nice interior design (at first glance). Even though it was full, there was a good conversation. The ramen was tasty. However, the menus are particularly worn out. We sat at the counter and all the dishes were stacked there. Directly in view is a particularly tasty flycatcher. Great at first glance, but I wouldn't go back again.

I've been there many times and the quality of the food has been excellent every time. There is also super friendly service, which rounds off the visit perfectly. The price is slightly higher, which is understandable given the central location and the current challenges in the catering industry. I can only recommend it to everyone – definitely try it out!

Only recommended! There are very friendly staff on site and the food is really top! Price also relatively good! Recently had food delivered and unfortunately something was missing. However, it was definitely an isolated case, it can happen from time to time, and it was delivered immediately and it was handled really well! Really a big recommendation from me❤️

Excellent service! My wishes and concerns were discussed and implemented with great care. Since I am very picky due to my special diet for health reasons, it is almost impossible for me to eat out. I wanted to make an exception for my wife's birthday - and everything was perfect, without a single mistake. Many thanks to the friendly staff and the warm boss, with whom I contacted in advance via email. All wishes and needs were taken into account as best as possible. Even if it was not 100% possible to completely avoid contact with vegetable oils, they did their best. A special thanks to Ms. Ling for the great service!

Fantastic food, every time. Also every time: waiting despite a reservation, being forced to leave even though you arrived after 7:30 p.m. without being informed in advance - especially since the website clearly states that there is no longer a time limit after 7:30 p.m. We've probably been to the Koi 6-8 times and every time the ambience is spoiled by the overcrowding and the resulting unrest. Please take the numerous reviews to heart and don't let your great restaurant go to waste.

Were there today on Sunday around 4 p.m. without a table reservation, were greeted nicely and assigned to the table. The menu has a good selection of food and drinks. I decided on a ramen soup and it was really DELICIOUS! 😋 Ambiance was nice, staff friendly and helpful. We left a tip of €4.30. WE WOULD LOVE TO COME AGAIN!🙂

Dubious and not recommended: Despite having a reservation, we first had to wait outside for 10 minutes, were then shown to a table, and another 5 minutes later we were asked to give up the table again and sit somewhere else. Overall, the seating in the restaurant is very tight and very loud: making a lot of sales seems to have a higher priority than comfort. Four of us went there to eat sushi. Four different types of sushi were prepared differently than stated on the menu: some with cream cheese, although cream cheese was not listed on the menu, salmon with asparagus was not flambéed, although it was stated that way on the menu. Communication with the staff was extremely difficult; three service staff's knowledge of German was so inadequate that they were referred to other people. Only the fourth person largely understood what we were complaining about. To be fair, we were then given a small discount. What was strange for a restaurant of this size was that they only accepted cash. Conclusion: the store seemed dubious to us...

The two of us had dinner at Koi. When you make your online reservation and then when you enter the restaurant, you will be informed of the maximum length of stay of 90 minutes. But that's not necessary at all. After 30 minutes we were finished with starters and main courses. So we cannot confirm long waiting times. For us it felt like mass processing. Never experienced anything like this in a restaurant. Tables are way too narrow. It was also sticky, as were the menus. Main courses are put on the table even though the starters have not yet been eaten. Starter was okay so far. The announced scallop was completely missing from the main course. Vegetables were almost raw and without any taste. Overall the food was very bland... Our conclusion: Price/performance doesn't fit here at all... Unfortunately not recommended for a leisurely meal on Saturday evening

Food was really good. There are no objections here. BUT!! We were forced to leave because the table needed to be used again. We weren't even allowed to drink anymore. This just ruins the evening!

Chic restaurant with good food and a diverse selection. The menu (actually two cards - a sushi and a 'normal' menu) is far, far too big. If you don't know what you like beforehand, it can be difficult. And the fact that you can only stay for 90 minutes doesn't make it any easier. The service was friendly and on point. The dishes were visually excellently prepared and tasted good. What's annoying given the price level is that no card payment was possible. Apparently only that day - but two weeks later the note is still hanging on the window.
