KOH SAMUI - CITY in Frankfurt am Main

I was there today out of necessity, and I never wanted to go back… Unfortunately, it's gotten so bad that I felt compelled to leave a review. I seriously doubt the 5-star ratings.

Even two hours after eating, I still have a smile on my face. It was so good! I had the green papaya salad with chicken pieces. Absolutely delicious. Nice, attentive, and friendly service. Absolutely fantastic value for money. I'd go back anytime. I'd love to come back tomorrow!

Truly disappointing. The food was raw, bland, and tasteless. €10 for an opened bottle of water.

The two of us ordered a bottle of water that arrived already opened, costing €10. We ordered two dishes that weren't the ones we ordered and had to keep them. They were tasteless, with raw vegetables and no chicken. The food was completely unrelated. Terrible.

The food was delicious. Service was nice and fast. But the prices are a bit high for the portions.

The food was ok, nothing special we had Tomkha kai (chicken coconut milk soup), stir fried beef and stir fried big flat noodles but it was almost like noodles soup. In term of flavor, it’s not that much better than the other Thai food here, The proportion is rather small and the price is quite expensive. I gave it overall 6.5 out of 10.

I had an amazing experience at Samui restaurant. The food was authentic and full of flavor. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the ambiance made it a perfect place to enjoy a meal. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for genuine Thai cuisine in Frankfurt.

Best and friendliest Thai restaurant in Frankfurt city center.

We were here for the first time in a long time. The staff was, as always, very friendly and attentive. But it was, as always, very tasty. Today we had satay gai and ped pad krapau with fried egg. The chicken satay was tasty and not too dry. The ped pat krapau was excellent, and in my wife's opinion, "the best in years." Plus a bottle of water. All in all, €33.10. Not exactly cheap. But it was worth it. Everything was very tasty. Conclusion: Highly recommended Update: We were here again today (02/08/25) and had the same thing again. And unfortunately, the chef has changed. The satay gai were from the deep fryer!! And they tasted awful, too. The krapau was also okay at best because it was too salty. Together with two Cokes, we paid €25.80. The price was okay. Conclusion: Still recommended

For lovers of Thai cuisine. A small but very nice restaurant in downtown Frankfurt. They offer a discounted lunch menu at lunchtime. There's a small outdoor seating area. The staff is always very friendly. The portions are a bit smaller at lunch, but perfectly fine in the evening. However, it's also cheaper. Credit card payments are accepted. The restrooms are a bit tricky. Access is a bit difficult for those with walking difficulties, as they have a narrow staircase leading down. I'm not sure if there's an accessible restroom upstairs.

Good food. You can order more or less spiciness. The owner is very friendly. The staff is welcoming and not lonely.

We've been going to this fantastic Thai restaurant for years. At least 6-8 times a year. Birthdays have been celebrated there with incredibly delicious cocktails and wonderful food, whether it's starters, main courses, or desserts. But be careful, slightly spicy is spicy! If you don't like it, just say so when ordering! It's always an experience.

This place is a piece of real Thailand in the heart of Frankfurt! The dishes here are an explosion of fresh flavors and aromas: you can feel that they cook with soul, using authentic spices and high-quality products. The portions are generous, and the combination of ingredients is perfectly balanced. The atmosphere deserves special attention - cozy and homely. The staff greets with a sincere smile and does everything to make guests feel special. If you want real Thai hospitality and cuisine that takes you to the streets of Bangkok or Samui - this is the perfect choice. I definitely recommend visiting!

The foods so so good 😭 The spiciness and boldness is just what me as a fellow south east asian always looking for here in Germany. The fish is just the best. Som tam also very refreshing with still tolerable spiciness. It could be too spicy for locals though so be careful, if the waiters say it is spicy, it is indeed spicy ;) Very friendly staffs, beautiful restaurant. We will come back for sure!

Authentic, delicious, and welcoming – a definite recommendation! Koh Samui is a real highlight in Frankfurt! The food is delicious and tastes just like in Thailand – fresh, aromatic, and authentically seasoned. Also worth mentioning is the incredibly friendly staff, who make you feel truly welcome. Best Thai restaurant in Frankfurt :)

The food was fantastic and the service was super friendly. She knew the menu by heart and was able to provide information about each dish. The only negative was that it was quite cold in the restaurant. But scarf around the shoulder: problem solved.

Oh my god that was delicious! I was recently in Thailand but already missed the food and people from there. Without further ado, I went here with my partner in the hope of getting authentic Thai food. You are greeted by a super nice Thai lady who is incredibly happy when you say a few words of Thai. Of course, the interior is not decorated like a typical Thai restaurant - that would be quite simple, but with wall decorations. The interior design captures the feeling of Thailand and reminded me of some temple complexes or typical Thai houses. And then the food came. No matter whether it was tofu, fried rice, sticky rice, Thai ice tea: everything tasted the same as it did in Thailand just a few weeks before and I was overjoyed. I will definitely come back and especially when there is Mango Sticky Rice again! By the way, the price is great with the lunch menu - it's also valid on Saturdays!

The price was high but it was delicious. The first time I went there, I fell in love with the pad thai because it had a really good fiery flavor, but the second time it was a little average. The seasoning of the somtam was just right. It was delicious Pad Thai, which is hard to find in Germany, where fake Thai food is rampant.

Mango Sticky Rice is a must try

I ordered a dish to pick up. When I arrived it was already finished. However, the price was higher than advertised on the website. I pointed this out to the lady and told her that unfortunately I only had the exact amount that was advertised and that I didn't have an EC card either. Instead of accommodating me, as it is obviously a mistake on the site and not mine, she sends me away without food because of the €1 I was missing. This can also scare away guests.

The lunch menu is priced well! It costs around 11~12€. My friend said that the Portion were small. For people with a big appetite, the amount might be a bit too small! but I was satisfied!☺️

We, 5 people, tested this Thai restaurant for the first time. The restaurant is small but very cozy. The service is excellent and very friendly. A large selection of food and drinks are available. Like the starter, main course and dessert, everything was delicious. Upon request, a dish was prepared even spicier than it was on the menu. There are parking garages nearby. In any case, we will come to eat more often. 😊

Wir haben Thailänder kennengelernt. Auf die Frage, wo sie in Frankfurt thailändisch essen gehen, wurde dieses Restaurant genannt. Wir kennen es schon lange und fühlten uns bestätigt. Freundlich, gute Küche. Wenn man es wirklich Thai scharf haben möchte sollte man es extra sagen. Angemessene Essenspreise,wobei eine Flasche Wasser für 7,50 Euro übertrieben ist. Die Preise der Mittagskarte sind günstig. Die Portionen sind aber deutlich kleiner als am Abend.

The food in Koh Samui is really delicious! We had different dishes and loved them all. The service is totally polite and quick. Unfortunately, the air becomes a bit stuffy as the evening progresses.

Terrible service. We were three people and went there for dinner on a Tuesday evening. When we first arrived, half of the restaurant was empty. We ordered one starter to share and main courses. After one hour starter came. We waited another hour for main course but nothing came. Waiters just kept saying it is coming it is coming. We left the restaurant after waiting 2 hrs of no food no service no nothing. Please avoid this place.

Amazing place ! Amazing food (fresh, not from microwave!) super tasty. Magnificent Service. That kind of service should be an example for other Restaurants in Frankfurt. Great food but with a bland aftertaste on the bill. This was my first visit to Koh Samui because I like Thai cuisine and always try out new restaurants. The food was very tasty, just a little too hot, but better that way than the other way around. What surprised me incredibly in the end was the hefty price for my fried egg at Krapau, which I know as an integral part of the dish: €2.90 for a single egg!? That's more than 10% of the total bill. As delicious as it tasted and as nice as the service was, I just can't understand prices like that, hence only 3 stars.

Koh Samui was the Thai restaurant of our choice when we (four friends) met in Frankfurt. But with all my understanding for the problems in the catering industry and the high rents in the city center: I am prepared to spend money on a good meal, but not on one or two handfuls of fried rice with a few vegetables for 16, 90 EUR (the prices on the website download map are no longer current). Especially since the taste left a lot to be desired. The other women had a similar experience. Relatively small quantities at relatively high prices. We overlooked the rather cramped atmosphere with often quite loud guests as long as the price/performance ratio was still right. Now we're not going there anymore.

I have never eaten better Thai in Frankfurt. Unfortunately it's always pretty full - so reservations are not recommended

The decoration style of the restaurant is very comfortable, with a Thai flavor, the service staff is friendly and polite, and the flavor of the food is acceptable, but there is a strange salad, I don’t know what it is marinated with? It’s so salty that I can’t even eat it!

A very friendly and pleasant restaurant with friendly service and nice furnishings. Prices are moderate and the lunch menu offers a wide range of dishes at a reduced price. Since it was already very hot outside, I asked for a cooler place inside and was offered a quiet table right next to the fan. There is a one star deduction for two things: The lack of WiFi, even though there is virtually no cell phone reception inside. The food is a bit too “Germanized”. Things could be more authentic here without scaring off customers. Ordered Thai spicy and probably out of caution it was only “spicy”, it wasn’t even very spicy. Still very tasty!

It was my first time in a Thai restaurant. We ordered two main courses and a salad. The fried chicken was super delicious and crunchy—definitely a must-try. However, the fish and the salad were difficult to eat due to the spiciness. Even though the waiter had already mentioned this, we still ordered them. If they say it's very spicy, believe them because it was indeed very spicy, and I relied on the iced teas (also very tasty) to cool down. While the dishes might be perfect for someone who enjoys spicy food, I found them too overwhelming. Additionally, the fish was challenging to eat as it came with a bubbling liquid due to a small flame underneath, and we were concerned it might spill over. Despite this, the restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere, with nice interior design. The staff were very friendly, and the service was excellent. In conclusion, Koh Samui deserves a chance for its non-spicy dishes. My personal dislike for spicy food does not reflect the quality of the restaurant.

Old-fashioned curry with hardly any vegetables, but far too much canned bamboo. The soups are over-seasoned, austere, with tough, fibrous chicken with no lemongrass, galangal or coriander, but bamboo! The papaya salad was the only one of six dishes that tasted fresh, but with dried shrimp it was overpowering. The not-so-bad-tasting Pad Thai with far too much limp tofu. Conclusion: cheapest food at expensive prices, absolutely unworthy of a real Thai!

Great Thai, will definitely come back again! I had the Red Curry, it wasn’t as spicy as I like but excellent flavor! I had a hard time deciding what to get on the menu! The chicken Satay and spare ribs were excellent. If you’re looking for a break from the traditional German fare, this is a great choice.

It was my first time stopping by to eat at this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. I was very impressed. (I've walked past this shop 2 times) When I walked into the shop..the picture of the inside of the shop is..very beautiful. The decoration of the shop is Thai style, very classic and romantic. The photos came out very beautiful. The wait staff provide the best service. The taste of the food is beyond description because every menu item is delicious..👍 Who likes Thai food? Genießen nicht möglich,aber es gab auch nichts zu genießen. Das Essen war alles andere als schmackhaft. , schlecht gewürzt und fade Für uns war es das letzte mal. Kein Preis Leistungsverhältnis.

We ate in this restaurant yesterday by chance. Despite not having a reservation (this would be an advantage on Valentine's Day), we were warmly welcomed and shown to a table. A great fish was recommended to us and the salad with chopped chicken meat and mint was also super tasty. In general the atmosphere was very pleasant… wooden decorations on the walls, pleasant music in the background and EXTREMELY FRIENDLY SERVICE! We can highly recommend the restaurant 🤎
