We went to Könings Pfeffermühle for the first time on the recommendation of good friends and have been coming here regularly ever since. The dishes are prepared with love (and understanding), nothing comes off the shelf here. The regular menu is great, but we always look forward to the special offers like the fish days at the moment or the fantastic chicken recently. It's best to pre-order special culinary highlights - it would be a shame to miss out. The atmosphere and the service are very nice and warm and we always feel a bit like old friends who meet up in the kitchen or living room to chat and eat and drink delicious food. And while I'm at it, I'm already pre-ordering this great chicken for us in case it's available again soon ;)

Because of the positive reviews about this restaurant, I went to this snack bar for the first time with my partner yesterday. The first impression in the entrance area made me shy away, many open bottles of alcohol... No food to be seen.... A friendly lady handed me the menu in the entrance area, I decided on currywurst with fried potatoes. I got a cold, undercooked bratwurst with cold sauce poured over it and fried fried potatoes that were totally over-salted. It's a shame, unfortunately the food wasn't edible for me and I definitely won't go there again. I also won't recommend the place to anyone and unfortunately I can't understand the many positive reviews.

It couldn't be worse. You enter the snack bar and think...huh...wrong entrance? No food to be seen. But more than 1000 bottles of schnapps have been started.... We ordered currywurst with fried potatoes and Jägerschnitzel with fries. Currywurst was placed on the plate in one piece, unfried and almost cold, and covered with cold sauce. Fried potatoes warmed up in the deep fryer. Schnitzel not cooked through and the fries warmed up too.. We can't recommend anything in good conscience and can only advise against visiting there. And the collection of spirits, mainly whiskey from all over the world, makes any drinks market look old. No wonder there are so many repeat customers. The burgers were really tasty and exceptional a few months ago. Unfortunately it didn't taste good to us today. The burger patties are now thinner and finer. Unfortunately there was a complete lack of taste. The schnitzels are extremely fatty and had a strange taste. Just wrap them differently or dab them with crepe paper. If the burgers hadn't changed, it would be recommended. The owner is nice, child friendly. The location is clean. There's definitely a reason for the changed opening times, but especially on Sundays it would be a gold mine in the area. If you make the burgers the same as before, then I'll happily give them 4 stars. But for 26 euros for two burgers, three fries and schnitzel, it has to taste real. Too bad. I really hope that it will be different again, then we'll be happy to come back.

Of course you get a currywurst, a shish kebab or a burger, but they are not only fresh and mostly regional, but above all extremely clever and excellently made. In addition, there are changing theme menus, whiskey and other tasting evenings as well as special menu evenings, the goose dinner being just one example of many. Listing all the goodies is definitely going too far here. However, it is also important to mention that you can quickly have a “family connection” if you wish. An address that you definitely have to remember in and around Oberhausen!
