Great place, cozy and delicious. the service is also good

Very disappointing. With the opinions and prices they manage, we expected an experience comparable to other restaurants of the same supposed level: mentions or Michelin stars, etc. But not. We went for the tasting menu, and also ordered kimchi and bulgogi. The beef on the menu convinced us, the rest was very average, basic, uninspired. Correct, without further ado. The kimchi, well, at the level of any Korean restaurant, but at a golden price. The bulgogi, very normal. The wine they recommended to us was very ordinary, at the price of a quality reserve. It wasn't, not even close. We also didn't find anything fusion anywhere. Using Iberian pork in Korean recipes is not fusion. Put some olives on top, more Greek than Spanish style, either. The only fusion we saw was putting the bulgogi in a bao bun. Anyway, in our opinion, this restaurant is extremely inflated in rating and price. The attention of the waiters, very good, yes.

We spent a Tuesday night at Kochu Karu and had their 5 course tasting menu. Very interesting flavours and well composed dishes. Service impeccable. Great value. We did not have the wine paring but got to try a nature wine recommended by staff which was an excellent adjunct to the food. Seemed popular with locals and a reservation in advance is probably a good idea. Highly recommended.

High expectations about this place after knowing about its Spanish Korean cuisine, what sounds really interesting. Unfortunately although the food is good and there a couple of dishes that were tasty, overall didn’t match our prior ideas. Atmosphere didn’t feel as cozy as I had in mind. However, the service is so nice and the wine expert is a top notch, recommending the right beverage according to our preferences.

The waitress was incompetent and had no basic knowledge of service nor was she familiar with the menu. The food was disappointing and did not live up to expectations. We were there with children, which meant that we were treated like second class guests.

A small, fine restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. The fusion of Korean and Spanish cuisine is very successful. Unfortunately, the dessert was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

Very nice little restaurant. Be sure to reserve. There are no real main courses, but you can order a multi-course meal or several intermediate-sized dishes a la cart. High prices but very interesting and tasty. I can especially recommend the Korean tarte flambée, the green beans with potato miso and Canarian mojo sauce, as well as the Korean pancakes.

Unfortunately, the food at this place was disappointing for me. While the service was nice and the atmosphere was pleasant, the dishes we tried fell short of my expectations. We started with the sourdough bread and tofu cream, which was just okay—nothing particularly memorable. However, the green beans and potatoes dish was the epitome of disappointment; it simply didn’t taste good. My second letdown was the gnocchi with seaweed pesto. The gnocchi had an unusual texture, almost like mochi, as if it were made with rice flour. It was chewy, almost like gum, and the seaweed pesto sauce didn’t taste good at all. On a positive note, I did enjoy the tempura mackerel with aged soy sauce. I found it to be tasty, although my partner only took one bite and disliked it so much that he couldn’t eat more. Despite his reaction, I thought this dish was well done. We tried a few more dishes and a dessert, but these were the most notable. The wine recommended to us, however, was quite good and complemented the meal nicely.

The three of us were at Kochu Karu in August and had a great evening. The service was extremely attentive and friendly! The food was surprising and really tasty! The fusion of Korean and Spanish cuisine is very successful and results in exciting new delights. The wine accompaniment was very well selected by the sommelier Bini, who is also the owner. There was also a lot of new things to discover here. Thanks for the lovely evening!

Spansk koreansk køkken. Det bedste mad vi har fået længe. Fantastisk betjening. Vi fik 5 retter og det var en vild oplevelse af smage fra det spanske og korianske køkken, så flot integret i hinanden. Vi fik “vin” meny til som bestod af en blanding af vin, sake og koreansk dessert vin. Kan anbefale stedet, det er en virkelig god oplevelse. De bør få en Michelin-stjerne. Den er allerede Michelin anbefalet og det lever de helt klart op til.

Super food experience. Exciting place with Spanish/Korean cuisine. We were recommended the place, and booked a table and noted that it was a special day (wedding day), and when we arrived, we were seated at a special table. Very cozy and intimate. We ordered set menu and accompanying wine menu and they were very flexible so my wife got menu of white wines. Each dish was a little surprise of delicious intense flavor. 5 courses - really delicious. And a good mix of wines/sake for the food. All in all a really good experience, they should get a michelin* Great recommendation from here.

Absolute yum! The Korean tart flambee was delicious, like a kimchi flammkuchen—definitely a must-try. The homemade kimchi, though a bit pricey on paper, was well worth it; I’m glad we ordered it. The bulgogi buns were out of this world, with the perfect texture and a savory-sweet balance that was just right. The bibimbap was good, though probably my least favorite in an otherwise outstanding meal. If you order it, be sure to ask for the bottom to be crispy—the heater they provide just doesn’t quite do the trick. The service was attentive without being obtrusive, making for an overall fantastic dining experience.

For this price (250+ for two people), which is more than what restaurants with stars in Berlin are charging, the overall experience was underwhelming at best. The menu and dishes gave a cheap copycat fine dining feeling. The elements were there, but nothing ties together and there was no soul or true creativity that one expects to find at this level of restaurant they advertise (and prices) themselves to be. The only part that is on par with fine dining was the waiter, who was professional and amazing.

It is Korean-Spanish fusion restaurant. I love Korean cuisine and it isn't what I expected.

I came here on a business trip and had amazing food. The fusion of Spanish and Korean food is surprisingly delicious. And I think cabbage kimchi will always come to mind. I think I ate more than German food because it wasn't served as much as German food and I ate a small amount of various foods as a course. I highly recommend it when you come to Berlin and want to try Korean food. It will be a different experience from just a Korean restaurant.

The food was nice, but it wasn't particularly exciting. The asparagus was super flavourful and the sesame dessert felt special, but the chicken and rice and the ceviche felt less tasty and exciting than foods I've eaten in more low-priced restaurants. Not much atmosphere - it was rather empty. Overall a nice night, but probably wouldn't go back.

I had high expectations for this place - the menu looked amazing, and the price on par with great places. Although everything was quite good, nothing was really mind-blowing or special. None of the dishes were memorable, and it didn’t feel like a cohesive cuisine or fusion. The atmosphere also didn’t feel particularly special. On the plus side, the entire staff was very nice.

We sampled the four-course meal and found everything to be excellent. Each dish was exquisitely prepared and delicious. However, given that it was a fine dining experience, the portions were quite small, and I wished there was more to eat. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience!

Food was good, but first time in my life I found vege course better than meat option. Service was great!

First of all: the price/performance ratio is not right at all. The service is fantastic, accommodating. The atmosphere is also very inviting. But the food (vegan tasting menu) unfortunately falls behind. It starts with a kimchi bun with dip, and unfortunately stays at that level. The noodles could use some flavor, and the bibimbap is actually just tofu with rice (the soy sauce spices it up a bit!). The dessert was still the best, but an ice cream on a foam with a mini croissant… It's a shame for the price, although you can spend a very nice evening there.

We were a party of 3 celebrating a birthday. Right from the start, we felt pretty much at home as we were warmly welcomed by Michael and shown to our table at a cosy corner. Their menu was not large yet carefully curated. We opted for the Ala carte option as we wanted to try different items. After ordering the food, Bini helped us to pick out a couple of wines that paired perfectly with the evening’s food. We started off with some snacks like the flammkuchen and sourdough bread with manteca schmalz dip. Then some small plates including the lotus root with chrysanthemum, bacalao croquetas and iberico bulgogi (a must order!). Our main courses of boiled brisket, monkfish with Korean broth and bibimbap were all surprisingly good. We added on the galbi but was too full by the time it was served and had to pack some away. Ended the night with a couple of deserts and Michael initiated a birthday song for the birthday boy. Overall, it was a very pleasant evening. Michael and Bini were both super friendly and made our evening very relaxed and enjoyable with their excellent and attentive service. I think they change their menu every now and then. Can’t wait to be back again!

As I am writing travel guides for and about Berlin, I am always looking for hidden gems. And I can tell you this restaurant is one ❤️. Here you find a unique dinner. The Cocktails and wines are also well selected. Kochu Karu is an exceptional restaurant, blending the best of Korean and Spanish culinary traditions. Bini and José offer a superb four-course vegan menu, including, for example, a vegan Flammkuchen with a delicious creamy cheese-like topping. Every course is thoughtfully prepared, highlighting unique combinations that surprise and delight. The buckwheat tea and kombucha are both delightful beverages that complement the meal perfectly, showcasing their dedication to quality and taste. The warm ambiance and friendly staff make this restaurant a must-visit for anyone seeking innovative, flavorful cuisine. I highly recommend the four-course menu, but they also offer tapas à la carte. Absolute five stars from us!! I was able to celebrate my birthday today at Kochu Karu. The incredibly thoughtful and charming boss reserved a separate table for us because I had our little dog with me, who is very anxious, but was allowed to celebrate with us. The food was exceptionally good, the flavor compositions were unusual and sensational, surprising, creatively delicious... It's hard to find words for it. Just taste it yourself. 😍As are the drinks that we had recommended. The service was great, the two waiters were attentive and friendly, without any hint of intrusiveness. So, when we have something to celebrate again, we'll definitely go back - even if we live further away... We'd love to come back. 🌸❤️🌷🪻

As our first arrival in Berlin we couldn't ask for anything better. Delicious, particular multicultural cuisine, rich in flavour, balance and balance. Super friendly, helpful and attentive hosts. Very careful selection of wines, different from the usual. Particular location with a crazy ceiling that exudes history. Absolutely worth trying.

The food was great! We unfortunately experienced service issues and an overcharge that was promised to be refunded after a quite unpleasant email exchange with the owner. Sadly, no refund so far :(

Spanish Korean, fantastic, creative, unique. A must.

We had great expectations, but unfortunately we were very disappointed! Unfortunately the food was standard to mediocre. The individual dishes were not at all coordinated with one another and were more reminiscent of canteen food than of upscale fusion cuisine. The bacalao was reminiscent of a normal frozen croquette, the boiled beef was tasteless and the tarte flambée with kimchi was unfortunately rather mediocre (this was almost a cheek and so dry that you had to wash it down with overpriced wine.) The only thing that was really good What tasted good was the soup. The price-performance ratio is not right here at all if you compare it with other upscale restaurants in the area in Berlin. It's a shame, especially since this was a birthday dinner.

The service was excellent. From the welcome to the good bye we felt very well looked after. We did not really feel to be in a restaurant but rather in some friends place. The dishes are all unique and very minimalistic. Some of the wines we had we never heard before. In particular the rice wine. (Highly recommended) All over we had a fantastic evening!

We had a great evening! The ambience is inviting and modern, and the staff is extremely accommodating. The vegan menu was well selected and we were able to try one or two new things. I particularly liked the dessert. The presentation of the food was also excellent. I can recommend Kochu Karu to anyone who wants to experience Korean cuisine and fine wines at the highest level.

Wonderful place to eat. The menu balanced the Mediterranean and the Korean food, but it was more Korean. The soup was beautiful and the desert too

We had a 5 course menu 1. Oysters - very poor ones, tasteless 2. Kimchi staffed with rice - was okish 3. Poteto salad with poched eggs in tempura and crevetes - was fine 4. Roast beef was just delicious. Soo soft and tasty. Just amazing 5.cheesecake with mandarines was also really delicious We also took wine accompaniment. Not all of them were good enough for price and some of them were even poor. A glas of wine costs between 9-10 e.

I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The set 5 course menu was very well balanced across a palette of different korean and spanish tastes. I especially enjoyed the seaweed as a supporting ingredient bringing out the flavours in two of the dishes. Portions were big enough to fill us, which is sometimes a problem in other establishments of this standard. A great selection of wines and a knowledgeable, attentive and very friendly staff rounded of this evening as a dining experience. I will definitely be back when next visiting Berlin!

My fiancé and I loved every aspect of our dinner here. We ordered both options for the 5 course menu, so we were able to sample their diverse menu which was absolutely delicious! Every dish was exceptional and I was blown away by the flavors in their vegan options. Highly recommend this place for a top tier experience. Shout out to our amazing waiter MD!

Absolut Empfehlenswert!! Der ausgezeichnete Service schafft es, dass man sich herzlich willkommen und zuhause fühlt. Die Inhaberin versteht ihr Handwerk perfekt und man merkt, dass sie ihren Laden und ihre Arbeit liebt. Es bereitet einem Freude, ihr beispielsweise bei der Weinempfehlung zuzuhören. Das Ambiente ist schick, aber nicht steif. Die Karte ist klein, aber das Essen ist hervorragend. Manch ein Sternerestaurant könnte sich hier etwas abschauen.

I just visited the restaurant. We each took a different menu sharing everything. After “5 dishes” I’m still hungry. The dishes are minuscule. Some are more appetisers than real dishes. The menu and wine are way overpriced. Only foreigners in the restaurant. The restaurant was not warm and there was a draft. Was cold the whole evening. When paying the waiter asked if we wanted to leave a tip on the card? That is not how it works in Berlin ! Replied that I left the tip in cash. Another Sign of the Tourist Trap. Not very polite. They also charged for the water. That is normally included in a menu. And we bought a bottle of wine. The food was not bad in any way. But spend your money somewhere else. Way, way overpriced. The price/ value is not balanced at all.

Mit einem Wort: PHANTASTISCH. Der Service ist umwerfend - aufmerkam ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Die Weine sind überraschend und excellent. Die einzelnen Gänge im Menü sind jeder für sich unerwartet. Man muss sich unbedingt ganz ohne Erwartungen auf die neuen Geschmackskompositionen einlassen. Nichts ist so, wie man es kennt. Also ist der Besuch im Kochu Karu ein Erlebnis pur. Für mich ist es zwar hochpreisig, aber jeden Cent wert.

Zum Kochu Karu findet man Beschreibungen wie „Zwei Mal Heimat. Ein Mal zuhause. 50% Korea, 50% Spanien, 100% Berlin" oder „Fusionsküche, wie etwa koreanische Tapas und Tacos“. Dies ist aus unserer Sicht nur teilweise zutreffend – unsere Erfahrung: Das Kochu Karu verwendet ausgesuchte Produkte aus der genannten Kulinarik, ist dabei aber weder spanisch noch koreanisch, sondern fügt vielmehr die Erzeugnisse in einer atemberaubenden Weise neu, kreativ, fantasievoll und köstlich zusammen – zu einem wunderbaren, herausragenden Geschmackserlebnis! Wir entschieden uns bei unserem Besuch jeweils für das 6-Gänge-Menü mit Weinbegleitung. Als Appetithäppchen wurden vorweg Ciabatta, Oliven und Manteca-Lard gereicht. Jedes der Gerichte / jeder der einzelnen Gänge waren absolut originell, appetitlich angerichtet und die jeweils verwendeten Produkte perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt. Die Aubergine und das Tomaten Kimchi überzeugen dabei im Zusammenspiel der Kontraste, der Oktopus ist butterzart, das Roastbeef auf den Punkt zubereitet, die Käseplatte ein erstklassiger Genuss und der baskische Käsekuchen der krönende Abschluss. Das „Haar in der Suppe“ muss man schon suchen – aber auch Vortreffliches kann vielleicht noch besser werden: Während im 2. Gang beim koreanischen Salat Wrap etwas Würze und Salz fehlte, hat die Sauce zum Roastbeef etwas reichlich davon abbekommen 😊. Ausdrücklich empfehlenswert dazu die angebotene „Wein“begleitung (in Anführungsstrichen, da man eventuell nicht unbedingt auch Cidre, Sake oder andere Reisweinvarianten erwartet): Gut für das Menü arrangiert, die einzelnen Gänge schön begleitend und auch einzeln ein Genuss (Empfehlung, da ungewöhnlich: 2008 Riesling Spätlese, Thörnicher Ritsch). Bilanz: Essen: 4,8/5 | Getränke: 5/5 Das Restaurant ist recht klein, die Anzahl der Tische überschaubar, die Einrichtung eher minimalistisch. Gleichwohl ist das Ambiente des Kochu Karu gemütlich, harmonisch, fast familiär. Ein besonderes Augenmerk verdient der Service: äußerst freundlich, sehr angenehm, da betont unauffällig, trotzdem stets aufmerksam – herzlichen Dank für eine perfekte Begleitung! Bilanz: Ambiente: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 Fazit: Das Kochu Karu ist mehr als eine kulinarische Migration koreanischer und spanischer Einflüsse. Der Mix ist außergewöhnlich ungewöhnlich, die Aromen perfekt neu und anders verbunden und die Produkte ausgeklügelt kombiniert. Ein sehr schöner, kulinarisch ausgesprochen positiv überraschender Abend mit empfehlenswerter Getränkebegleitung und wunderbarem Service. Die aufgerufenen Preise sind diesbezüglich insgesamt angemessen, bzw. für das Geschmackserlebnis preis-wert! Umso verwunderlicher sind die hier teilweise veröffentlichten negativen Rezensionen. Deren Meinung können wir absolut nicht teilen, der Michelin-Stern ist aus unserer Sicht hier aufrichtig verdient! Unsere Gesamtbewertung: 5/5 – und wir kommen gerne wieder!

great dinner experience. Feels like a Michelin experience without being overly pretentious. The food is amazing. I do not eat spicy and they accommodated my request easily. Very nice vibe, it is not a massive place which made it even better, great atmosphere. Congrats to the chef(s) and overall, wonderful service.

Habe eine Online-Reservierung am vorigen Tag vorgenommen. Das Portal funktioniert nicht. Trotzdem soll man seine Kreditkartennummer angeben (und per Banking App bestätigen). Sehr traurig, werde nicht wiederkommen. Rate dem Restaurant den Booking-Service zu wechseln.

Was a really nice experience here. Although it's an expensive restaurant. But worth the experience. Really amazing food and we were received well. Nice wine and the fusion was really tasty. Overall nice experience. But you may have to pay more than 100 euros person for the real experience.

wonderful Spanish / Korean fusion food … worth the money and a very good wine selection

The expectations were so high, but the result… meh. Disclaimer: we’re used to fine dining, fusion concepts, uncommon flavors, Michelin starred/mentioned restaurants. For a restaurant that has Michelin mention and wants to be “fine”, I was expecting a completely different experience than what I had. - the biggest disappointment is the portions: I don’t know if it was a wrong evening or else, but the portions we’ve received were ridiculously small. Fine dining is not about putting 3 tiny pieces of (halved!) octopus tentacles; is not about putting 3 infinitesimal pieces of eggplant in a splash of tahini with 4 tiny cherry tomatoes; etc. This is pretentious and “wanna be”, NOT fine dining in 2023. And it’s a pity, because generally everything was very good (special mention to the dessert with mandarin sorbet). - the prices could be aligned with the concept, but not for those portions :) It just gives the client, when leaving the restaurant, that small feeling of being scammed - that is not the feeling you have when you leave a high range restaurant. - seasoning sometimes was incorrect: the ragù spaghetti (we praised the concept, very nice) was way too salty; the beef had way too much (pepper?), etc. These details make the whole difference in a dish. - The service: we got served by 2 persons, both lovely, but missing some professionalism: explanations of the dishes, when arriving, was too minimal and whispered; cleaning the tables next to us with the spray (I mean…); etc. Generally, as I said, the food was very good, but too many things are not working, to live up to the league they wanna play in (just comparing to Berlin’s scene). Maybe it was just an off evening and we were unlucky. I hope this helps!

Super Fusionsküche, toller und aufmerksamer Service und wunderbar abgestimmte Weinbegleitung zum Menü!

I was really looking forward to eating here after reading other reviews, but my boyfriend and I found the food -- we got the two different tasting menus (vegetarian & not) -- mostly middling. I live in Brooklyn and regularly eat at foodie/Michelin haunts in the city so have a lot of great food to compare it to. The concept here is great and the presentation is meticulous, but the flavor combinations were either too dissonant (too much going on) or leaned too much toward purely salty. The Korean influence was more evident than the Spanish, though we love Korean so that wasn't an issue. The highlights of the meal were the starters -- the sourdough, olives & lard AND the kimchi bun with sour cream & caviar -- as well as the roast beef (which was cooked perfectly). The really disappointing dishes were the ramen, which had overcooked underwhelming noodles, spare dressing/additions, and lacked the deep umami flavor of most great ramen; the temple bibimbab, which was exceedingly tiny (even for fine dining) and only the rice was flavorful; the cauliflower dish which had so many textures and so little flavor; and finally the desserts, both of which were underwhelming, but the one with the sesame ganache had an especially off-putting flavor profile. Had this meal been $100 we might have said it was worth the visit, but at $180 after two glasses of wine and a beer and this was not a great experience. In addition, our waiter was oddly more informative and kinder to the couple sitting next to us the whole night, for no apparent reason. He would tell them more about the dishes, follow up more, and was even warmer. So strange.

An sich ein toller Laden mit viel Potential… Allerdings die Art und Weise , war nicht grad kundenfreundlich , wie ich und meine bezaubernde Frau fanden 😞 Total überfordertes und orientierungsloses Management. Ich vermute das die nichtmal wissen wie man Kulanz schreibt, jetzt weissen sie es 😂 Nichtsdestotrotz werden wir sobald nicht wiederkommen. Leute vergesst nicht wenn ihr einen Laden führt, müsst ihr besser Abwegen was wichtiger für den Laden ist und nicht für euch selbst … Vermutlich wird meine Frau ihre schlechte Erfahrung noch weiter erzählen , so das ein paar Menschen ohne das sie euch besucht haben direkt verzichten werden euch zu besuchen ; ) (Verlierst du einen Gast , verlierst du meistens 10 Gäste ) So die Rechnung für gute! Dieses Restaurant vermarktet sich als High-Class Restaurant in Berlin. Das einzige, was daran High Class ist sind die Preise. Das Leistungsverhältnis fehlt hier gänzlich. Bei dieser Preisklasse erwartet man Top-Service, Top-Informationsverfügung und absolute Kundenfreundlichkeit. Der Kellner war zwar sehr sympathisch und freundlich, wusste jedoch von kaum etwas bescheid, keine Frage konnte er beantworten. Die Preise auf den Menüs waren zudem inakkurat. Nichts daran hat gestimmt. Wir mussten bei allem nachfragen. Man fing an unserem Tisch an nachzurechnen. Und kam auf niedrigere Preise. Unerhört. Nach dem Gesamtgefühl war unsere Stimmung bereits gedämpft. Dann servierte man uns Aperitife mit 0,1 cl das Glas. Die Getränke waren gut, als wir jedoch entschieden in einem anderen Restaurant zu dennieren und das Restaurant zu verlassen, servierte man uns eine Rechnung von 25 Euro für 2x 0,1cl Aperitif. Ich war schockiert. Zumal ich keine Karte mit Getränken vorgelegt bekam und nichts davon wusste (es sogar als guten Service wahrnahm, was sich als völlig überteuerten Schluck herausstellte). Man pries noch an, dass das servierte Wasser von der Rechnung genommen wurde. Nachdem ich dann mit der Geschäftsführerin telefonisch eine lange Diskussion führen durfte, drohte sie mir mit der Berechnung einer "No-Show-Gebühr", welche sie über die bei der Reservierung hinterlegte Kreditkarte belasten könne. Am Ende, nach fast 30 min hitziger und unangenehmer Diskussion, gab sie nach. Jedoch schrieb sie mir eine unheimlich passiv-aggressive und an psychischer Gewalt angelehnte Nachricht als Feedback zu meinem Besuch. Ich kann nicht glauben, was ich erleben durfte. Es war Samstag Abend und es war lediglich ein weiterer Tisch neben unserem belegt. Insgesamt höchst enttäuschend und schockierend. 👎Zum Essen kann ich nichts schildern.

Es hat einfach alles SUPER gepasst! Ich war gestern mit meinem Freund hier, da wir unseren Jahrestag gefeiert haben. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und wurden sofort beglückwünscht vor unseren Jahrestag 🥰 Wir bekamen sogar auch ein kleines Cava aufs Haus! Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, die Weine sehr elegant und das Service super freundlich! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und freuen uns, wieder zu kommen! Vielen Dank für alles. Das doch kleine Restaurant bietet rund 30 Sitzplätze und ist somit definitiv kein Massenbetrieb. Auch liegt das Restaurant sehr abseits der bekannten Berliner Touristenorte. Die Atmosphäre und Ambiente finden wir sehr gut. Auch der mögliche Blick in die Küche ist eine Bereicherung, dort wird in aller Ruhe und hochkonzentriert die anstehende Arbeit erledigt. Die Qualität der Speisen und die optische Präsentation ist schlicht Spitzenklasse! Das Service Personal fällt dazu auch nicht ab. Die Weinkarte gefällt ebenfalls, da sind einige sehr interessante Spanische Weine aufgeführt. Wir haben die Ehre den weltbekannten Starkoch Andreas Caminada (Schloss Schauenstein in der Schweiz) gut zu kennen. Somit können wir zwischen dem Kochu Karu und Caminada einen realen Vergleich anstellen. Ja das Kochu Karu ist auf dem Caminada Qualitätsweg unterwegs! Wer günstig in Berlin ein Abendessen geniessen möchte ist hier definitiv fehl am Platz. Für die im Kochu Karu gebotene Qualität ist das gehobene Preisniveau angebracht!

Did tasting menu and every dish is tasty.

Einfach: gut. Zweifach: herzlich. Dreifach: Immer wieder.

Wir hatten einen wirklich schönen Abend mit einem leckeren Menü und feinen Weinen. Alles etwas außergewöhnlich und besonders. Das Serviceteam, vor allem Chefin und MD, sind gut aufgestellt, gut gelaunt und fröhliche Gastgeber. Malee ist eine Bereicherung und sorgt immer, wenn sie an den Tisch kommt dafür, dass man unweigerlich lächeln muss. Einziger Wermutstropfen: wir leben in Hessen. Könnte sonst unsere Lieblingsdinnerlocation werden. Weiter so!

Sehr gelungene Fusion aus spanischer und koreanischer Küche, in angenehmer Atmosphäre und mit TOP-Service. Das Ambiente ist minimalistisch, ohne dabei kalt zu wirken. Der Service ist erstklassig und auf den Punkt. Wir hatten für ein (Geburtstags-)Dinner einen Tisch reserviert und uns für das Tasting Menü (5. Gänge) entschieden. Die Gerichte waren leicht, mit interessanten Geschmackserlebnissen und sättigend - dennoch hatte man danach nicht das Gefühl "voll" zu sein. Für das Tasting Menü sollte man sich gut zwei Stunden einplanen, um die Gerichte und den Service wirklich genießen zu können, dabei ist uns die Zeit weit aus kürzer vorgekommen. Bekanntlich vergeht die Zeit schneller, wenn es einem gefällt. Hervorzuheben ist der Service im Kochu Karu, der uns sehr gut gefallen hat. Ein Besuch - Reservierung nicht vergessen - lohnt sich auf jeden Fall! - Insgesamt sehr weiter zu empfehlen!

Wir haben das Restaurant zu viert ( 2 Paare) besucht. Als wir die Bestellung aufgaben, war die Chefin sichtlich verärgert , dass nur 2 von uns ein Menü bestellten und 2 à la Carte bestellten ( aber auch 2 Gänge plus Dessert). Sie insistierte auch, doch wir blieben dabei, was mit einem leicht schnippischen: dann scheinen Sie ja wirklich wenig Hunger zu haben, kommentiert wurde. Wir haben dann auch sehr lange auf unseren ersten Gang warten müssen, da hatten die Menü-Besteller schon 3 Gänge bekommen. Das Essen war sehr gut, aber wir hatten uns mehr versprochen für den stolten Preis. ( knapp 400 €) Der Kuchen zum Nachtisch war Mittelmaß. Der Wein war gut, aber mit 48 € pro Flasche auch nicht gerade preiswert. Alles in allem war es eine Erfahrung, die wir aber nicht wiederholen werden.

Lovely feast experience here at Kochu Karu, friendly staff and delicious meal. Hats off to the chef for the nice blend between Korean and Spanish. (especially the kimchi bun 👍🏻) However, dessert selection could be improved.

We were delighted with Kochu Karu. The service and food were on point. I recently made the reservation for my GF's birthday and heard about the restaurant from word of mouth, and I was super intrigued by the Spanish and Korean combined fusion. We were greeted with a warm welcome. I met Bini at her Deli. She knows how to run the restaurant I worked in, The Capital Grille in DC, so I can tell from experience that you will be well cared for. They had a non-vegan tasting menu because I wanted to try all the different variations of food they provided. They start us with sourdough bread, olives, and Manteca lard. The fat just melted in the bread, and the olives were sauteed. We had the Chicoree Romesco. It was bitter, but the sauce complimented and canceled out the bitterness. The Tofu Kimchi was tasteful. The complex texture of Kimchi and the soft texture of Tofu. The Salmon Tartar was smooth and delicious, but you might not like it if you are not a fan of raw food. The Gallway beef was cooked at the right temperature. The meat melts in the mouth the sauce complements each other. For dessert, they served Sorbet with Cheesecake which was balanced, sweet, and delicious. I had a great experience. I will be returning soon with my friends and family. Thank you

A great experience in a lovely intimate setting. They've managed to deliver (as promised) a fantastic blend of cuisines and culture, into a setting and meal that is as much an experience as it is a great dinner. Would thoroughly recommend it and we'll be back to try their set menu soon for sure.

Excellent service and excellent food. When I had trouble booking online, Bini the owner was very fast in replying by email and helped me with reservation. The staff was very friendly and attentive to us, the dishes were served fast and tasted excellent. We also asked for a bottle of wine to go with our different dishes and got an excellent recommendation that fit well with all vegetarian, seafood and beef dishes. I highly recommend a visit.

In my opinion this restaurant is overrated. They tried to make unique flavors, but they simply didn’t combine well. Some dishes were decent and desert is good.

Aufregende Mischung aus Spanien und Korea. Unbedingt reservieren.

Wir haben das Restaurant an einem Freitag besucht und einen schönen Platz am Fenster bekommen. Das gehobene Ambiente und die stielvolle Einrichtung hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und die Weinbegleitung hat das hervorragende Essen noch besser gemacht. Somit ein sehr gelungener Abend, der das Geld uf alle Fälle Wert war. Danke an das Team :)

If you are going here because of twelve tastes make sure to read this: we presented the twelve taste book after selecting the testing menu that costed around 60 euros. However we were then informed that for the twelve tastes there is a different menu. One that costs around 80 euros and has one small dish more. And that is the one we get the discount. At the end you end up paying around 60 euros, the same price as if you are going there normally…. Our experience after that: We came to the restaurant to celebrate a birthday and we made sure to write it was a special occasion. But I guess there was no difference to it. Even though I understand it’s not something they are obligated to do, I do not understand why they ask if it’s a special occasion while doing the reservation if nothing changes at the end. At the end we were asked to moved out of the table even though we made a reservation and eat as fast as we could. Overall the food was ok and the service was very kind.

Wir waren vor einem Jahr dort und hatten selten zuvor zu gut gegessen. Gestern wollten wir wieder hin, aufgrund eines Krankheitsfalles mussten wir leider stornieren. Ich kann mit Stornierungsgebühren generell nichts anfangen, jedoch kam mir das Restaurant entgegen und hat aus Kulanz diese um 50% reduziert. Gerne kommen wir wieder und genießen köstliches Essen und ein wunderschönes Ambiente.

Moderne Fusion aus Mediterraner und Asiatisch-Koreanischer Küche, gutem Service und schöner Atmosphäre! Klare Empfehlung! Wir waren zu viert an einem Samstag-Abend zu Gast. Wir wurden direkt am Eingang herzlich empfangen und bekamen einen schönen Tisch in der Ecke. Uns wurde prompt Wasser angeboten. Da man eine Pauschale pro Gast zahlt, kann man auch immer wieder Wasser nachbestellen. Wir entschieden uns für das 5 Gänge-Tasting-Menü. Der gereichte Dip zu verschiedenen Brotsorten kamen in angemessen schneller Zeit und war sehr lecker. Den Start zum Menü machte ein gegrillter Chicorée mit leckerer Romanesco Sauce. Sehr fein abgeschmeckt und lecker. Weiter ging es mit Tofu in einer wahnsinnig tollen Brühe! Der Tofu selbst war mir ein wenig unspektakulär… die Brühe aber feinste Umami-Erfahrung. Anschließend gab es ein Lachsforellen-Tatar, mit Tapioka-Popcorn und Vinaigrette. Sehr schmackhaft und mein Favorit an diesem Abend. Der Hauptgang bestand aus feinsten Galloway Rinderstücken… der Garpunkt war traumhaft Medium und das Fleisch sehr zart. Die Sauce und Praline passten geschmacklich sehr gut zum Fleisch. Der Cheesecake sowie das Sorbet waren ein gelungener Abschluss des Menüs. Preislich mit 69.00€ fair, die Portionen sind nicht groß, aber man wird gut satt. Geschmacklich war ich sehr überzeugt, einzig der Tofu selbst überzeugte mich nicht. Der Service war den ganzen Abend sehr gut, aufmerksam und freundlich. Die Gerichte werden am Tisch annonciert. Weinempfehlung passte auch, obwohl der erst favorisierte leider aus war.

Ein besonderes Geschmackserlebnis. Die Küche und der Service wissen genau was sie tun. Alles sehr profisionell! Sehr zu empfehlen!

Leckeres Essen, guter Service, interessante Menüs.

The food is good but the experience is better, I particularly enjoyed the way in which the team explained the dishes as they just didn't list the ingredients but they mention the flavors, I tried the 6 course menu, if anything the crêpes were not memorable but everything else was. A special mention to the sommelier, she just nailed it.

Viel Raffinesse haben die Speisen schon, jedoch empfanden wir (2 Personen) den Geschmack meistens gut aber nicht wirklich traumhaft. Der Speiseraum ist eng bestückt mit Tischen, man sitzt sehr nahe an den Nachbarn dran. Wir empfanden den Geräuschpegel der Stimmen teilweise als belastend. Im Laufe des Abends wurde der Sauerstoffgehalt der Luft immer dünner, es gab ja auch kein Fenster, das auf Kippe war. Besonders hat uns geärgert, dass unsere Flasche Wein (€68) ohne vorherige Rücksprache bzw. Nachfrage mit uns still und von uns unbemerkt gegen eine zweite volle Flasche ausgetauscht wurde, als die erste Flasche leer war. Wir waren tief im Gespräch und bemerkten den Austausch der leeren Flasche mit der zweiten Flasche erst, als die Rechnung kam. Der Jugendliche (Lehrling?), der einige der Gänge zum Tisch brachte und servierte, sprach derart undeutlich und leise, dass wir nicht verstehen konnten, was auf dem Teller gerade serviert wird. Selbst auf unsere Nachfrage, änderte sich an seiner Art der Ansprache nichts. Für den Abend haben wir 360 Euro bezahlt, dafür kam einfach bei uns keine Begeisterung auf. Insgesamt empfinden wir, dass wir wahrscheinlich nicht nochmal hingehen werden.

This is a hard one. Kochu Karu is a restaurant which is too ambitious for casual dining but not ready to be a fine dining restaurant. If you expect a casual tapas restaurant, you will be positively surprised by new ideas and twists the chef has created. If you expect fine dining, like me, you will constantly spot missed opportunities to make your visit a great experience. In particular, the service is not yet at a level where it should be, wine pairing was also so-so, and in the end many small other things feel a bit underwhelming. However, I might give them another chance in a while again to see of they improved.

De las mejores experiencias gastronómicas que he tenido. El sitio acogedor y elegante, la comida increíble: cada plato, cada vez más original y sorprendente y exquisito. El ambiente del local es estupendo y el servicio amable y muy simpático. Muy muy recomendable.

Great food, took little to long for it to arrive (even for a multi course restaurant). They ran out of beer, then when they got a new beer they ran out of cold beer. Food was generaly good but there was a course that basically had no taste. One of the waiters kept the standards to the highest and was lively and fun. Small easily fixable things took down their ratings, its a nice restaurant and definitely worth the visit.

Awesome experience! Service was outstanding and food was an absolute joy! Exquisite more than what you would expect. We live close by so we had to try it. Glad we did since now this can be a treat every now and then. But yeah definitely will plan to come again!
