The food was awful. The price/performance ratio was absolutely not right. A children's meal – pasta with tomato sauce for €16.90?! We adults had small schnitzels, the fries tasted of old grease and were mostly green and brown, and the salad also had a lot of brown bits. Premium prices, but not premium food. The only positive experience: the service was very friendly.

Small, quaint restaurant. Very cramped. Quick response to our reservation request. Very tasty food (we had Labskaus - which could have been more for a grown man!!! and a quick nick). Fresh side salad, portions were average, not generous, hence the high price! Side order reordered without any problem, and we requested applesauce at no extra charge.

We stopped in spontaneously while strolling through Bremen. Our intention was simply to have a warm drink. The Ratskeller isn't marked as a restaurant from the outside. After ordering our warm drinks, we told the waiter we didn't want any food. When our warm drinks arrived, we were asked again what we wanted. When we again said no, we were rudely told to finish our drinks quickly, as they were full of reservations. A shame. We would have loved to stay in this atmospheric, pleasant restaurant. Hence the star rating.

We were there by chance a few years ago and loved it, but then there was a change of ownership. The prices are so high for really cheap food like Knipp or a kid's portion of French fries that we just felt like we were in a tourist trap. One of us had the vegetarian dish, which was straight out of the frozen bag and lacked any flavor. The atmosphere outside is great and the waitress was very nice, but we wouldn't recommend eating there!

I have to admit, I was absolutely surprised. But let's start with the beginning: we were looking for something to eat at the unusual time of 3 p.m. in the afternoon and ended up at the "Kleiner Ratskeller" (little Ratskeller). The lunch menu appealed to us, and my request for a different dessert was immediately welcomed. The beer was tasty, and the menu consisting of soup, main course, and dessert was delicious. Unfortunately, I ended up getting the red berry compote, but my wife enjoyed it. All in all, a cute little restaurant with a great atmosphere, a very engaging, friendly young waitress, and delicious food. The price-performance ratio is perfect.

While passing through Bremen, we discovered both the beautiful city and this restaurant. It's a small but traditional place. The owner is very friendly, the food is excellent, and the portions are generous.

Very expensive and cafeteria-quality food. The asparagus was poorly peeled and undercooked, the hollandaise sauce tasted like it came from a tetra pack or was pre-cooked, further overpowering the delicate flavor of the asparagus, and some of the potatoes were sweet. The schnitzel was average. €39 for asparagus with schnitzel for that quality was outrageous.

Things started off badly when we were informed that only cash payments were accepted today. Complete nonsense, of course. Then the draft wheat beer was completely flat. After that, the waitress brought three incorrect dishes, but of course charged the higher price, and then seriously complained that he hadn't received any trick money. Pure rip-off with exorbitant prices.

Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend it. What a shame. The main criticism is the value for money. The prices are above average and the portions small. For example, a children's schnitzel is offered as a children's plate for 18.90. We decided not to order that. Our order was "Large Crispy Hunter's Schnitzel" for 27.90 (!) and classic Knipp with fried potatoes. Given the price of the schnitzel dish, we expected large crispy hunter's schnitzels (plural). Instead, we got a rather small schnitzel, which you might find on a children's plate elsewhere. What a disgrace. The taste was okay, though. The Knipp tasted good, but the portion was manageable. In addition to the Knipp, fried potatoes, cucumber, and beets, a side salad was also included without asking. Not really a problem, but it wasn't served in a separate bowl; this salad took up half the plate. The result: the actual dish was correspondingly small. When we brought these issues up in the restaurant, the owner showed no understanding or willingness to accommodate. Instead, we were told that "crispy schnitzel" meant one and that the salad was fine. I now know I won't be coming back. The price/performance ratio is simply not good. The target audience is probably tourists, who probably only come once anyway. It's a shame, yet another traditional restaurant that can't turn things around after a change of ownership. (Since I'm reading here that reviews are apparently contested by the owner if they don't give a 5*, I've attached the bill, which proves that I was actually there today.)

Really amazing food and service! We were visiting from England with limited German but they were very friendly and made us feel welcome even though we stumbled over a few words! The food came really quickly and tasted delicious! It's in a lovely spot in the city, if you sit outside you can hear the street music! Would definitely go back on our next visit!

As a long-time regular customer, I don't recognize the small Ratskeller. Unfortunately the prices are completely exorbitant: 0.3l beer 5.50€, wedding soup 12.90, Labskaus 24.90, Hackepeter 17.90. Steak without weight stated for a good €35, schnitzel for €28 - I used to go to this restaurant often, I always liked it. But unfortunately today's prices are so exorbitant - after studying the menu I left the restaurant... Previously 4 - 5 stars for me here on Google, no longer recommended. Unless: you have too much money

Dogs allowed – that’s a positive! I had the Jägerschnitzel from the daily menu. Unfortunately, the meat was gristly and swimming in an excessive amount of hunter's sauce. The fried potatoes were extremely oily, and the side salad was drizzled with a typical wholesale dressing - nothing fresh or homemade. The drinks menu wasn't up to date, I found the beer prices ridiculously high, and unfortunately the beer tasted stale. To highlight positively: The staff was friendly and asked if everything was OK. I then mentioned that I wasn't happy with the schnitzel, and the chef prepared me a fresh plate about ten minutes later - I give them credit for that. Nevertheless, I can't fully understand the many positive reviews - my overall impression was rather disappointing.

You really can't complain about the food; it's very tasty and the portions are generous. Unfortunately, what led me to give this poor rating are the prices. A 0.3l beer and a 0.4l Spezi each cost €5.90, and the dishes with Knipp (a kind of sauerkraut) for €24.90 and Kutterscholle (a kind of plaice) for €29.90 are quite steep. We also got the Bremen Card for our visit to Bremen (highly recommended), which advertises a 10% discount at the small Ratskeller. The man in charge of the restaurant didn't know it and denied it, saying, "We don't have anything like that here."

Small restaurant near Böötcherstrasse. It was advertised outside with “Offer of the week: Schnitzel Holstein €19.90. Also with “Sunday Schnitzel Day”. So we ordered - on a Sunday - a schnitzel Holstein and a Jägerschnitzel, which according to the offer should cost €19.90 each. When the bill came, the schnitzels cost €27.90, which is the regular price on the menu. We asked the waitress about it. The answer was that we didn't explicitly state when we ordered that we wanted the “offer schnitzel”. But we didn't say that we wanted the "Card Schnitzel", we simply ordered two schnitzels. The comment that in this case the guests should be made aware of the difference was met with excuses. Otherwise, the schnitzels at the neighboring tables (schnitzels were ordered at all tables) didn't look any different. There was therefore de facto no difference between the card and the offer. From my point of view, there is a certain system behind it... The portions were good, I would describe the quality as normal. The price of €19.90 would have been appropriate, but it's not worth €27.90. Drink prices are also above average. There are better alternatives in Bremen. It may be the business strategy to exempt guests once, but it would probably be smarter to rely on sustainably satisfied guests. In any case, for us it was our first and certainly our last visit there.

Had kale with pee. The kale was slightly sour, the potatoes were too watery. The Kassler is very robust. Unfortunately, the food got cold very quickly because the plates weren't warmed up. The service was very friendly and attentive at first, but later I was left high and dry. The waitress almost had to be forced to pay. The price/performance ratio is not good. Beer at Oktoberfest level. Kale is expensive, but the presentation doesn't quite match the price.

Wir haben den kleinen Ratskeller in Bremen besucht und waren insgesamt zufrieden. Die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich, und das historische Ambiente verleiht dem Lokal einen besonderen Charme. Der Bremer Pannfisch mit Senfsauce hat uns gut geschmeckt – frisch zubereitet und schön angerichtet. Die Portion war ausreichend, und die Beilagen haben gut dazu gepasst. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Insgesamt ein angenehmer Besuch. Wir können das Restaurant für ein traditionelles norddeutsches Essen empfehlen.

Portion labskaus of the quality well - size / quantity like a starter but very expensive - steak medium ordered came through - tight max almost 20 euros - drinks prices outrageous - it's no fun - not recommended// in addition the toilets are rocky - Heating broken - ambience? Still New Year's Eve decorations - sorry, all no-go...

I had Knipp (€24.90) on the recommendation of the waitress. The portion was decent and the quality was also good. Probably one of the best but also one of the most expensive in the city. It's interesting that an original "poor people's meal" now costs almost €25. And the beer prices are higher than at Oktoberfest or even in Switzerland. The price for 40 cl of beer is a whopping €6.90, which corresponds to a price for 1/2 liter of beer of €8.60. I can drink beer cheaper in Switzerland. The menu lists everything that has become more expensive in recent years. I can understand it too, but I cannot explain a price increase of over 40% compared to other restaurants in the old town of Bremen for food AND drinks. And especially when it comes to drinks, the restaurant next door is the same beer from the same brewery as here.

The friendly gentleman pushed for 7:30 p.m., which was already very tight for us. Of course at this time everyone would like to occupy the tables several times, but as it turned out the restaurant was only 50% full. So why put pressure on two people? I will say in advance that I have eaten there several times. The fried potatoes are usually great and the schnitzel is also very good. Yesterday there was plaice for me and my companion. A proud price for 32.90. My expectations were already high. What actually happened was disappointing. A plate with a manageable plaice that was not properly prepared on the edge. The edges are cut off in good kitchens. Only then would one have seen at first glance that this floe would have been even smaller. To be honest, the reference to Bode on the menu is not a predicate after this meal. It wasn't cleaned well and my companion noticed that the headboard wasn't clean either. Lemon is actually extra, so the guest can decide for themselves whether they want to use it or not. Here lemon juice (not fresh) was most likely used on both sides, which was not okay with us as we don't use lemon on fish and so the taste dominated before the plaice. The fish was well fried, the meat was juicy. The only thing that didn't really come through for us was the taste. The speck of bacon wasn't really enough for it to be mentioned separately. The fried potatoes were good, quite a few but they were cooked way too dark, some of them black. Finally, a comment on the drink prices. 5.90 euros for a 0.3 liter of Kräusen beer takes your breath away. I just checked again to see what other locations were taking, i.e. d. Typically you get 0.5 liters for this. The service was attentive and the food came within a timely manner. But the prices are not appropriate, with all my love, for 32.90 I would have expected that there would have been fried potatoes in a separate bowl and a salad also on a separate plate, instead of manageable leaves, a tomato and onions do not belong in a side salad. In addition to the technical weaknesses in cooking, the plaice for this price was simply too small for the price level shown. I've eaten in the small Ratskeller twice this year, but I'll be staying away for a while before I give it another chance. That just didn't resonate with me. Despite the reasonable ambience and good service, I only got two points in the overall rating because the food really annoyed me. I would classify the whole thing as a tourist scam, but unfortunately I'm not a tourist, I'm from Bremen.

Nice and cosy atmosphere. Very nice waiter, but did not speak English, which made it very difficult to communicate. Does not have a children's menu. The dish we ordered for the children was full of pepper, and they hardly ate it. Suitable for adults only.

Very cozy atmosphere, we had kale for food. It was tasty and filling, but the half piece of smoked pork was more like molded meat and not smoked pork neck. Overall, unfortunately, significantly too expensive compared to other, similar restaurants in Bremen. The plate of kale with 1 cooked sausage, 1 pee, 5 potatoes and 1/2 piece of smoked pork for €28.50. You can get the same thing (also in terms of quantity and quality) for less than €20 elsewhere. Unfortunately it put us off a bit.

We wanted to eat there with our NeoTaste voucher. We were then told that this didn't apply today because there was so much going on that they could occupy the table like that. You can't misuse the app as an advertising platform and then decide whether it's valid today, contrary to the applicable voucher conditions. This is absolutely unfair, unfriendly and dubious.

Well, I can only rate the service. Saturday, December 7th, 2024, it was very crowded early in the evening. The waitress came up to us and asked if we had reserved. Nope, it was a spontaneous visit. She was so friendly and brought us to a large table with the note that there would be 4 more guests. I didn't mind, we took a seat. The guests in question came, the card came and the guests left after 2 minutes. We were alone at the table when a gentleman came and said: "Such a good table for two people, that's not possible." We were allowed to get up and leave. We did too.

Eten was prima, maar we werden weggekeken. We hebben nog koffie kunnen bestellen, maar er werd erbij gezegd dat we over 10 min weg moesten. We zaten er net een uur en 15 min! Rare gang van zaken..

This was my third time eating there, twice with a friend and now with my wife. I love the cozy atmosphere of a bygone era and the good atmosphere in the restaurant, although it can get a little louder, it is always well filled. Reservations are worth it 👍. The menu is clear and the ingredients used are fresh and crunchy... a solid selection of local dishes (the beef roulade with boiled potatoes and apple red cabbage... 👌). Two men are thrilled... at least my wife is happy 😁... I will definitely be there again on my next stay in Bremen. Regarding the missing 🌟 in the service... they are very friendly and attentive and worth a decent tip, but the narrowness of the restaurant, which makes it so quaint and cozy, unfortunately hinders the service... I'm happy with that.

A cozy place that is loud and lively during the holidays. In most cases the food looks homemade. Prices are a little higher than other establishments, but the atmosphere is worth it. The portions are huge, and as far as the taste goes, it's quite good - even for an amateur of German cuisine.

Horrible kitchen, broken dishes, freezing cold because the door was wide open. Food smelled and was rotten. After the complaint, the neck steak was barely cooked through. My portion of fish was barely to be found on the plate. As Bremen, we have different memories of the restaurant. Never again!!!

The food was quite good :) classic German cuisine (home cooking) - however, we came with Neotaste and they didn't want to accept it at first, but you could book it and I was pretty confused about it. I found that very unfriendly. Then they shouldn't register there if they don't want people from there. I also think the prices are very high for what you get in the end.

Matjes and fried potatoes were quite greasy, didn't taste very fresh and were too salty. Labskaus was okay, the herring didn't taste good enough for the price. It's a shame, because the rustic ambience combined with delicious food would have made you want to linger. Overall not recommended.

All the food was heated, we ordered expensive fish dishes with mashed potatoes and a second one with potatoes, if you tried heated potatoes at home, it tasted exactly the same, only the oil was old, and the fish was dry due to heating, just the centerpiece. But the food for the children is ok (they ate: French fries and pasta) The drinks are ok, except cappuccino, which isn’t very good either. I don't recommend it!

We were looking for something for dinner and ended up in the small Ratskeller. We saw the size of the portions at the next table (generous) and therefore only ordered two meals for 4 people (2 adults and 2 children): tartare and schnitzel. The prices were reasonable, but I'm happy to pay that for good quality. The drinks prices are a disgrace: €4 for 0.2l Fanta, €4 for 0.25l water, €8 for a 0.25l wine spritzer and €6 for 0.4l beer. This catapulted the total bill for 2 meals and 4 drinks to over €70. This almost borders on highway robbery and is the reason for the star deduction.

We were actually there relatively late and after a quick call everything worked out. A sample app was brought to us and we were warmly welcomed. Although the kitchen was more or less closed, food was spontaneously provided and we had a free choice of the menu (A La Cart) :) When the food was there, we were quite surprised by the portion, and the alternative (vegetarian) was also available super customized. I really liked the fish, it got to the point and the side dishes like baked potatoes and bacon went really well! The portion was very good (as can be seen from the picture). Recommendations go out. The atmosphere actually resembles an old Ratskeller, it's not really big, but it's cozy and enough. Of course everything seems a bit older, but we were completely happy with it :)!

Unfortunately, the bad surprise came when we arrived at the “Little Ratskeller” at 6:30 p.m. "THERE IS NOT A FREE TABLE FOR 4!" was offered to me. “The best we could do is sit at a table that is much too small if those already sitting there agree.” - Beyond amazing (and outrageous)! - Was there a table for 4 available right in the entrance area like we reserved before!? Even after my emphatic request, it was not possible to take this table because it was finally reserved!? - That's probably the height of impudence. In the "Little Ratskeller" the guests are apparently classified when making reservations and accordingly you get a reserved table or not!? I understand that the catering industry is a "tough" industry and that you have to try to "sell" as many places as possible every day. However, an approach like this is underground! We, the guests in the catering industry, are also looking forward to a visit and a delicious meal with friends. Therefore, this was planned in advance with a reservation! Fortunately, this does not apply to the majority of catering establishments. La peor comida que comimos en la ciudad. El almuerzo familiar también fue arruinado por un servicio súper lento. La traducción al inglés del menú es desastrosa. Cuando pedimos Hombro de cerdo resultó ser sarro crudo de carne de cerdo. Nuestro plato de carne en conserva era un puré de patota mezclado con sabor a carne en conserva. When we arrived 45 minutes after opening, there was no menu with additional dishes outside, nor was there any information from the waitress. The roulade wasn't to my taste, I also bit on cartilage or something similar. I had juice as a drink and the bill said spritzer. There were different prices on the menu. The waitress said everything cost the same. They were pretty hefty prices. There was no internet reception in the restaurant. I cannot recommend the restaurant.

Nice little traditional restaurant in the old city of Bremen. Menue offers a variety of regional dishes. Pannfischteller was nice but nothing special, Knippteller tasted deliciously. Roulades were good in taste and tender but far too dry. Rumpsteak was stringy and not enjoyable. Portions were big. Prices definitely too high for the quality offered. Atmosphere was ok, a bit stiff though. Staff was very friendly and efficient.

Very nice, small, rustic restaurant, with great cuisine and very friendly service. What is a little annoying is the greatly increased prices. They are now very sporty. The quality of the food is top.

In a little walkway that intersects the famous Botcherstrasse, this little restaurant is worth finding. Excellent food, friendly and excellent service, and reasonable prices for the area. Close to several hotels and just steps from the market square.

When the weather is nice you like to sit outside. But a musty smell comes from the adjoining cellar, which makes you want to eat your food again. It doesn't smell, it smells like a drain or sewer. A pity. It could have been a nice evening. As for the food itself, there is nothing wrong with it. This was, if you ignore the smell, very good.

One of those "what's not to like?" places? Tucked away in a little alleyway is this friendly little tavern. Becks on tap, excellent asparagus with juicy salmon and a portion size such that I had no room for dessert. It's the German equivalent of pub food and served with a smile by a waitress who speaks English but put up with my mediocre German

Small, cozy restaurant. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We were lucky and got a free table without a reservation. I think you should make a reservation for evenings and especially on weekends as a precaution. The menu is not very large, but this is usually evidence of the good quality of the food. That was also the case. I took one of the daily recommendations based on a recommendation. Schnitzel Holstein, this was very tasty and juicy. The fried potatoes were also really tasty. My wife had the salmon with mustard sauce and she also loved it. The portion was absolutely sufficient for us. Clear recommendation from me.
