Authentische deutsche Küche nach alter Art...ein Besuch lohnt sich. Preiswert.

Der Service war gut, der Pannfisch auch, aber der Lachs war nicht ganz durchgegart. Die Bedienung hat das wohl bemerkt und uns ein zusätzliches Stück Lachs gebracht – das war sehr nett und eine unerwartete Überraschung. In der Senfsauce fehlte der Dill und die Kartoffeln waren nicht knusprig. Der Salat war sehr lecker.

Auf der Suche nach einem guten Labskaus fand ich den Knipp - und es war die beste Entscheidung des Tages! Der Knipp war perfekt knusprig, die Bratkartoffeln genau richtig und die Salatsoße köstlich! Außerdem war auch noch alles hübsch angerichtet, mehr geht nicht 🤗 Ja, es kostet ein bisschen mehr als so mancher Mitbewerber, aber ich war völlig zufrieden, daher alles gut. Und in der schmalen Gasse sitzt man draußen auch gemütlich.

Ein fantastisches kleines Restaurant im Herzen von Bremen. Der Service war exzellent, Speisen und Getränke kamen schnell.

Ein wirklich nettes, ungezwungenes Lokal, um gut zu essen. Es war köstlich und der Service hervorragend. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Die Preise sind Abends recht hoch, doch es ist sehr schmackhaft und eine gute Portion. Das Servicepersonal war sehr freundlich.

Schönes, rustikales Ambiente. Vor allem draußen ist es bei entsprechendem Wetter empfehlenswert. Preis - Leistungsverhältnis eher zu hoch.

Die Lage ist günstig und sehr zentral. Wir hatten Würstchen, die in Ordnung waren, aber vielleicht lag es daran, dass wir so lange warten mussten, dass wir eigentlich alles essen konnten, als das Essen endlich kam. Der Service war ziemlich unangenehm, der Kellner war fast schon unhöflich. Insgesamt lohnt sich ein Besuch nicht.

Das Lokal war überfüllt, der Service langsam und unfreundlich, das Essen kam erst nach einer Stunde Wartezeit … und war bestenfalls mittelmäßig. Am Ende verlangte der Kellner, der uns den ganzen Abend fast ignoriert hatte, Trinkgeld. Kein Besuch und den Preis nicht wert. Das einzig Schöne war das alte Gebäude, aber das kann man ja auch nur von außen sehen.

Essen, Panfisch leider in der Senfsoße ertränkt,Rumpsteak hatte ein sehr breiten Fettrand ,der Salat bei beiden Gerichten mit auf dem Teller angerichtet.Wir finden bei so einer Preisklasse müsste es anders angerichtet sein.

Ich war dort mit einer Gruppe. Insgesammt ist die Einrichtung schon sehr durch. Der Service war nett. Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut. Wir hatten unterschiedliche Gerichte und keiner hatte etwas auszusetzen.

Gute Bremer Hausmannskost und ein schönes Ambiente verbergen sich hier. Zu zweit haben wir noch Platz bekommen, daher empfehle ich am Wochenende einen Platz zu reservieren. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist in Ordnung. Die Portionen sind groß und geschmacklich gibt es nichts auszusetzen. Am nächsten Tag merkten wir, dass wir einen hochwertigen Stetson liegengelassen haben. Einen großen Dank an die Besitzerin des Lokals, die uns den Stetson nach Hause, schickte.

Wir hatten für den 27.4. 13:00 und 6 Personen bestellt. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und bekamen schnell unsere bestellten Getränke. Die bestellten Gerichte wurden ebenfalls schnell serviert. Alle waren mit dem Essen sehr zufrieden. Wir beschlossen nächsten Abend nochmals hin zu gehen (ohne einen Tisch zu bestellen). Trotz fast vollem Haus bekamen wir einen Tisch und wurden wieder freundlich und schnell bedient. 😊👍

Ehrlich gesagt fühlt es sich an wie ein kleiner Geheimtipp: Die Portionen des köstlichen Essens sind riesig und das Restaurant hat Charme und Charakter.

Ein nettes kleines Restaurant, aber weder der Service noch das Essen haben mich überzeugt. Ich hatte Lachs mit Senfsauce bestellt. Der Lachs war zwar gut zubereitet, aber leider in Senf ertränkt. Wer Senf nicht so gerne mag, sollte die Sauce unbedingt separat bestellen! Man braucht wirklich nur ganz wenig, und der Senf war völlig überflüssig. Der Salat war lecker. Die Kartoffeln waren größtenteils in Ordnung – die angebrannten Stellen habe ich einfach ignoriert. Der Service war wirklich schlecht. Ich versuchte, die Aufmerksamkeit des Kellners zu erregen, damit wir bezahlen und gehen konnten, aber er ignorierte mich. Er räumte andere Tische ab und unterhielt sich mit anderen Gästen, anstatt mit uns. Er beachtete uns kein einziges Mal. Schließlich mussten wir ihn an der Bar zur Rede stellen. Ich werde wohl nicht wiederkommen.

Ohne Reservierung ist es Glückdsache...

Alles in allem ganz nett, allerdings auch ziemlich teuer für das was man bekommt! Wird wohl an der touristischen Lage liegen.

Waren zum Mittagstisch da,die Auswahl der Gerichte war sehr vielseitig. Mit der Vorsuppe und dem Nachtisch ein leckeres Menü. Der Service war super. Man fühlte sich willkommen. Wenn wir mal wieder in Bremen sind,werden wir auf jeden Fall wieder im kleinen Ratskeller essen.

Das Essen war sehr gut , nur das Steak war etwas zäh , trotzdem war es geschmacklich sehr gut. Ich hatte das „Werder“ Menü , es war so reichhaltig, gefühlt eher für zwei Personen. Bedienung war nett , das Ambiente ist sehr schön. Kommen nochmal wieder

Die Rouladen waren absolut lecker und der Teller mehr als gut gefüllt. Nur der Bierpreis war uns zu hoch aber das ist ja leider überall der Fall

Gutbürgerliche Küche im rustikalem Ambiente

Gemütliches Lokal… wir wollten eigentlich nur Wein trinken, wurden aber irgendwie dazu gedrängt, auch etwas zu essen zu bestellen… also entschieden wir uns für Schnitzel, das furchtbar war… steinhart und nicht knusprig, wie man es sonst kennt. Hackepeter war okay. Das Einzige, was uns geschmeckt hat, waren die knusprigen Bratkartoffeln. Das Geld nicht wert!

We ordered the set lunch menu: soup, rump steak, and dessert. The soup was completely overcooked and extremely salty—inedible. The so-called rump steak was a low-quality piece of pork neck riddled with sinew, making it inedible. The fried potatoes were also extremely salty. The dessert was a simple, store-bought mixed red berry compote with vanilla sauce, which at least was edible. The price of €19.00 is still too high for what was offered! When we asked if everything was alright and satisfactory, the waiter refused to accept any criticism, became loudly abusive, and threw the dishes on the counter. There was no farewell either. We will never go back.

The beer was fine, you can't really go wrong with it. The staff is rude and unfriendly. They immediately ask if you're coming for dinner; if you say you're just there for drinks, you can leave.

Authentisch, lecker und ein echtes Bremer Original! Wir waren in der Vorweihnachtszeit zu viert im Kleinen Ratskeller – und obwohl der Laden richtig knackig voll war, hat das nur zur Atmosphäre beigetragen. Es ist eben ein beliebter Ort, und das völlig zurecht! Die Speisekarte bietet eine tolle Auswahl an traditionellen deutschen und besonders Bremer Gerichten. Wir hatten unter anderem Labskaus und Rinderroulade – beides absolut empfehlenswert. Man merkt sofort: Hier wird großer Wert auf gute Zutaten gelegt, und das schmeckt man auch. Alles war frisch, aromatisch und mit viel Liebe zum Detail zubereitet. Der Service war trotz des vollen Hauses freundlich und aufmerksam. Wer echte norddeutsche Küche in gemütlicher Atmosphäre erleben will, ist hier genau richtig. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

The place looked good, but when they saw we looked Spanish, they told us they wouldn't serve you without a reservation. Those who came in later were seated without a reservation; they were German.

The minced pork wasn't fresh. The schnitzel was okay, and the fried potatoes were very good. For the price, you should expect better quality. We won't be back.

The quality of the food needs improvement. I ordered noodles with vegetables and tofu, which were completely tasteless and tasted like a frozen mix. The tofu wasn't served with the dish, and when I asked about it, I was told it wasn't listed on the menu – which was simply a lie. A normal apology would have been fine, but as it was, it left a bad impression.

As single, I was only allowed a table besause a gentle woman allowed to sit at her table - Many Thanks. I had a steak - very good, and a surprisingly nice and well taisting dish.

Warning!!! This is a complete tourist trap; unfortunately, we fell for it. We ordered a so-called "butcher's platter" and were served an outrageous and ridiculously overpriced dish. For €28, we received a child's-sized plate of sausages that resembled something you'd find at a bad school camp. We were later informed about this awful establishment and paid dearly for it with an exorbitant bill. We will definitely never go to this restaurant again, and several other guests have since shared our experience. If we hadn't been so wet and frozen from the bad weather, we certainly would have complained. The quality was abysmal and will leave a lasting negative impression.

A little gem. Had the Jaeger Schnitzel - very large portions and delicious as well. I visited on a Friday night and it was absolutely heaving.

Charming decorations. On Sunday the jägerschnitzel and another type of schnitzel are on special for less than 20 euros. I sometimes don't like schnitzel because it is too greasy, but neither the schnitzel nor the potatoes were greasy. Good portion size. They had a great flavor, and the meat inside the schnitzel had good flavor. Mushroom sauce was very good, and salad was fresh. Portions were good. You can't tell in the picture, but there are mushrooms under the schnitzel. Rather than be very wide and thin, the meat is a little thicker but very tender. Like a lot of restaurants in this area, the menu is in German and English. Glass of wine was slightly less than 9 Euro.

Good food in a cozy environment with very friendly staff

The Kleiner Ratskeller is always worth a visit. However, we were rather unpleasantly surprised by this lunch special. First of all: The food was good, the portions were a good size, and it was nicely presented. However, what happened to the plate before it was filled is anyone's guess. Even the pepper sprinkled on it couldn't hide it. The slogan "Our standards are high!" didn't really apply here. After the drinks and food were on the table, small flies immediately joined them. Not particularly pleasant. The price of €14.90 for lunch is acceptable. Although €6.50 for a large beer (0.4 liter) is not. We will still give the Kleiner Ratskeller another chance.

The food was awful. The price/performance ratio was absolutely not right. A children's meal – pasta with tomato sauce for €16.90?! We adults had small schnitzels, the fries tasted of old grease and were mostly green and brown, and the salad also had a lot of brown bits. Premium prices, but not premium food. The only positive experience: the service was very friendly.

We stopped in spontaneously while strolling through Bremen. Our intention was simply to have a warm drink. The Ratskeller isn't marked as a restaurant from the outside. After ordering our warm drinks, we told the waiter we didn't want any food. When our warm drinks arrived, we were asked again what we wanted. When we again said no, we were rudely told to finish our drinks quickly, as they were full of reservations. A shame. We would have loved to stay in this atmospheric, pleasant restaurant. Hence the star rating.

Quaint, cozy. Service: friendly at first. When it became clear that the four of us wanted "only" drinks at 5 p.m., we were rudely escorted out with a "reservation for dinner!"

Small, quaint restaurant. Very cramped. Quick response to our reservation request. Very tasty food (we had Labskaus - which could have been more for a grown man!!! and a quick nick). Fresh side salad, portions were average, not generous, hence the high price! Side order reordered without any problem, and we requested applesauce at no extra charge.

I was back for the first time in a year. The restaurant has always been one of my favorites in Bremen. With new owners it has gone bad. Prices have skyrocketed, the quality of the food has suffered. Will not be back again.

Exceptionally good home cooking. I was there three days in a row. It was truly outstanding.

We were there by chance a few years ago and loved it, but then there was a change of ownership. The prices are so high for really cheap food like Knipp or a kid's portion of French fries that we just felt like we were in a tourist trap. One of us had the vegetarian dish, which was straight out of the frozen bag and lacked any flavor. The atmosphere outside is great and the waitress was very nice, but we wouldn't recommend eating there!

I have to admit, I was absolutely surprised. But let's start with the beginning: we were looking for something to eat at the unusual time of 3 p.m. in the afternoon and ended up at the "Kleiner Ratskeller" (little Ratskeller). The lunch menu appealed to us, and my request for a different dessert was immediately welcomed. The beer was tasty, and the menu consisting of soup, main course, and dessert was delicious. Unfortunately, I ended up getting the red berry compote, but my wife enjoyed it. All in all, a cute little restaurant with a great atmosphere, a very engaging, friendly young waitress, and delicious food. The price-performance ratio is perfect.

While passing through Bremen, we discovered both the beautiful city and this restaurant. It's a small but traditional place. The owner is very friendly, the food is excellent, and the portions are generous.

Unfortunately, our food was served lukewarm. We took it back and it was reheated. It tasted okay. The presentation was quite good. The atmosphere in the alley was very nice. The staff was friendly. Unfortunately, everything was very expensive. We wouldn't go back; there are cheaper and better restaurants.

Very expensive and cafeteria-quality food. The asparagus was poorly peeled and undercooked, the hollandaise sauce tasted like it came from a tetra pack or was pre-cooked, further overpowering the delicate flavor of the asparagus, and some of the potatoes were sweet. The schnitzel was average. €39 for asparagus with schnitzel for that quality was outrageous.

Things started off badly when we were informed that only cash payments were accepted today. Complete nonsense, of course. Then the draft wheat beer was completely flat. After that, the waitress brought three incorrect dishes, but of course charged the higher price, and then seriously complained that he hadn't received any trick money. Pure rip-off with exorbitant prices.

Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend it. What a shame. The main criticism is the value for money. The prices are above average and the portions small. For example, a children's schnitzel is offered as a children's plate for 18.90. We decided not to order that. Our order was "Large Crispy Hunter's Schnitzel" for 27.90 (!) and classic Knipp with fried potatoes. Given the price of the schnitzel dish, we expected large crispy hunter's schnitzels (plural). Instead, we got a rather small schnitzel, which you might find on a children's plate elsewhere. What a disgrace. The taste was okay, though. The Knipp tasted good, but the portion was manageable. In addition to the Knipp, fried potatoes, cucumber, and beets, a side salad was also included without asking. Not really a problem, but it wasn't served in a separate bowl; this salad took up half the plate. The result: the actual dish was correspondingly small. When we brought these issues up in the restaurant, the owner showed no understanding or willingness to accommodate. Instead, we were told that "crispy schnitzel" meant one and that the salad was fine. I now know I won't be coming back. The price/performance ratio is simply not good. The target audience is probably tourists, who probably only come once anyway. It's a shame, yet another traditional restaurant that can't turn things around after a change of ownership. (Since I'm reading here that reviews are apparently contested by the owner if they don't give a 5*, I've attached the bill, which proves that I was actually there today.)

Really amazing food and service! We were visiting from England with limited German but they were very friendly and made us feel welcome even though we stumbled over a few words! The food came really quickly and tasted delicious! It's in a lovely spot in the city, if you sit outside you can hear the street music! Would definitely go back on our next visit!

As a long-time regular customer, I don't recognize the small Ratskeller. Unfortunately the prices are completely exorbitant: 0.3l beer 5.50€, wedding soup 12.90, Labskaus 24.90, Hackepeter 17.90. Steak without weight stated for a good €35, schnitzel for €28 - I used to go to this restaurant often, I always liked it. But unfortunately today's prices are so exorbitant - after studying the menu I left the restaurant... Previously 4 - 5 stars for me here on Google, no longer recommended. Unless: you have too much money

Dogs allowed – that’s a positive! I had the Jägerschnitzel from the daily menu. Unfortunately, the meat was gristly and swimming in an excessive amount of hunter's sauce. The fried potatoes were extremely oily, and the side salad was drizzled with a typical wholesale dressing - nothing fresh or homemade. The drinks menu wasn't up to date, I found the beer prices ridiculously high, and unfortunately the beer tasted stale. To highlight positively: The staff was friendly and asked if everything was OK. I then mentioned that I wasn't happy with the schnitzel, and the chef prepared me a fresh plate about ten minutes later - I give them credit for that. Nevertheless, I can't fully understand the many positive reviews - my overall impression was rather disappointing.

You really can't complain about the food; it's very tasty and the portions are generous. Unfortunately, what led me to give this poor rating are the prices. A 0.3l beer and a 0.4l Spezi each cost €5.90, and the dishes with Knipp (a kind of sauerkraut) for €24.90 and Kutterscholle (a kind of plaice) for €29.90 are quite steep. We also got the Bremen Card for our visit to Bremen (highly recommended), which advertises a 10% discount at the small Ratskeller. The man in charge of the restaurant didn't know it and denied it, saying, "We don't have anything like that here."

Small restaurant near Böötcherstrasse. It was advertised outside with “Offer of the week: Schnitzel Holstein €19.90. Also with “Sunday Schnitzel Day”. So we ordered - on a Sunday - a schnitzel Holstein and a Jägerschnitzel, which according to the offer should cost €19.90 each. When the bill came, the schnitzels cost €27.90, which is the regular price on the menu. We asked the waitress about it. The answer was that we didn't explicitly state when we ordered that we wanted the “offer schnitzel”. But we didn't say that we wanted the "Card Schnitzel", we simply ordered two schnitzels. The comment that in this case the guests should be made aware of the difference was met with excuses. Otherwise, the schnitzels at the neighboring tables (schnitzels were ordered at all tables) didn't look any different. There was therefore de facto no difference between the card and the offer. From my point of view, there is a certain system behind it... The portions were good, I would describe the quality as normal. The price of €19.90 would have been appropriate, but it's not worth €27.90. Drink prices are also above average. There are better alternatives in Bremen. It may be the business strategy to exempt guests once, but it would probably be smarter to rely on sustainably satisfied guests. In any case, for us it was our first and certainly our last visit there.

Had kale with pee. The kale was slightly sour, the potatoes were too watery. The Kassler is very robust. Unfortunately, the food got cold very quickly because the plates weren't warmed up. The service was very friendly and attentive at first, but later I was left high and dry. The waitress almost had to be forced to pay. The price/performance ratio is not good. Beer at Oktoberfest level. Kale is expensive, but the presentation doesn't quite match the price.

Wir haben den kleinen Ratskeller in Bremen besucht und waren insgesamt zufrieden. Die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich, und das historische Ambiente verleiht dem Lokal einen besonderen Charme. Der Bremer Pannfisch mit Senfsauce hat uns gut geschmeckt – frisch zubereitet und schön angerichtet. Die Portion war ausreichend, und die Beilagen haben gut dazu gepasst. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Insgesamt ein angenehmer Besuch. Wir können das Restaurant für ein traditionelles norddeutsches Essen empfehlen.

The food was delicious. However, we had to wait for all the food (sorry as only one chef), drinks and bill. Sometimes give notice multiple times. And even if everything gets more expensive, a wedding soup for €11.90 is beyond the scope

Very friendly female service but completely overpriced. Portion labskaus of the quality well - size / quantity like a starter but very expensive - steak medium ordered came through - tight max almost 20 euros - drinks prices outrageous - it's no fun - not recommended// in addition the toilets are rocky - Heating broken - ambience? Still New Year's Eve decorations - sorry, all no-go...

I had Knipp (€24.90) on the recommendation of the waitress. The portion was decent and the quality was also good. Probably one of the best but also one of the most expensive in the city. It's interesting that an original "poor people's meal" now costs almost €25. And the beer prices are higher than at Oktoberfest or even in Switzerland. The price for 40 cl of beer is a whopping €6.90, which corresponds to a price for 1/2 liter of beer of €8.60. I can drink beer cheaper in Switzerland. The menu lists everything that has become more expensive in recent years. I can understand it too, but I cannot explain a price increase of over 40% compared to other restaurants in the old town of Bremen for food AND drinks. And especially when it comes to drinks, the restaurant next door is the same beer from the same brewery as here.
