We were at a kale party and were seated in the barn. The music was so loud that I couldn't even talk to the person at the next table. After we said something, the music was turned down. The soup arrived before everyone had even sat down, which meant it wasn't hot anymore. Then, unfortunately, it took a long time for the kale to arrive. We had to ask for the alternative dishes, but they did eventually come. The meat was cold, unfortunately. I didn't eat dessert; it took too long. The service, all young people, tried their best. Unfortunately, the drinks were unacceptable for €70 all-inclusive. The wine and the Prosecco were undrinkable, and there weren't any original brands. Captain Morgan instead of Havana Club is unacceptable. The music and atmosphere were great, but the price/performance ratio was poor. Regards, Marianne

The staff was incredibly attentive, warm, and friendly from the very beginning. You truly feel welcome and well taken care of. The value for money is simply outstanding and completely convincing. The quality of the food exceeded our expectations. Delicious food, freshly prepared with high-quality ingredients. You can taste the attention to detail in every dish. A thoroughly enjoyable visit with superb service, a wonderful atmosphere, and excellent cuisine. We will definitely be back and can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent selection of regional dishes at reasonable prices with attentive staff and fast service.

We stumbled upon this place more or less by chance during a winter walk. It probably won't stay a hidden gem for long. I ventured to try the Bremer Knipp... delicious! The prices were reasonable, the service friendly but not pushy. They even allowed the dog in. With the view of the winter wonderland, the apple-cinnamon punch tasted better than at any Christmas market. We'll definitely try the beer garden in the summer, I promise... Keep up the good work!

We're parked in our campervan at the nearby campsite and ate here today as a couple. Our dog was also welcome. The service was very friendly and attentive. We didn't have to wait long for our excellent meal. The mackerel steak was very tender, the roasted vegetables still had a nice bite and were perfectly seasoned. My husband's schnitzel was also very good, and the side salad was superb. Afterwards, we had an espresso and a Ramazotti. The bill, including four small beers, came to €40. Unbeatable value for such a delicious meal.

We'd almost forgotten about the cowherd... The cappuccino was great, the staff super friendly, lots of people having lunch in good spirits around us, and all of it in a perfect walking environment, over the dike to the Werdersee and along the Piepe... It was really lovely all around!

We were at a birthday party. The Mediterranean buffet was amazing. The beef was pink and incredibly tender, the vegetables were imaginatively arranged and absolutely delicious. The waitstaff were all on the ball, super friendly, attentive, and quick. Five stars are definitely warranted! We'll definitely be back.

We spontaneously stopped by the Kuhhirten restaurant early this afternoon. The welcome was very warm; we immediately felt comfortable and welcome upon entering. The menu is varied and appealing. We chose the eggplant balls as a starter to try something new and were absolutely delighted. Beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. Afterwards, we had Labskaus, which was superb. The portion was just right and attractively presented. Here you get quality at a great price with very friendly service! It's a shame we live so far away; we'll definitely be back on our next trip to Bremen. Best of luck with the relaunch and all the best for 2026!

Very attentive and friendly service. Delicious Christmas dinner (duck with red cabbage and dumplings, €18). The dessert (gingerbread tiramisu) was also very tasty. Excellent value for money. Inexpensive drinks (0.2l soft drinks €2) and the food is incredibly good value. Highly recommended. We will definitely come back for another meal. Keep up the good work!

The food was good, but in my opinion, the portions were too small for the price. Christmas dinner with four tiny potatoes, two asparagus spears, and two very small pieces of venison for 20 euros is simply unacceptable. I'd rather pay a few euros more for a normal portion.

We're glad the Kuhhirte is under new management again and are generally very happy about it. The ambiance, food, and drink selection are great. The value for money is excellent. However, the service needs attention; the staff handles the cutlery by the top when setting the table and reaches inside the glasses when clearing them – extremely unhygienic. A recipe for cold sores! This needs to be monitored and the staff retrained. If this can be corrected, it has the potential to be fantastic and successful.

We visited for the first time since the reopening this afternoon. We also brought our small dog, who, like us, received a very friendly welcome. The food was good, and the service overall was excellent. The interior has been spruced up a bit. The prices, however, are incredibly low. For example, €4.50 for a 0.5-liter beer is something I don't think you'll find anywhere else in a restaurant. I expect the prices won't stay this low for long, and that wouldn't be a problem at all.

Today we tried the new Kuhhirten restaurant. The new ambiance is a real improvement, and the restrooms in particular are excellent. However, the room temperature and drafts also contribute to the ambiance, and it was uncomfortably cool and drafty for us in the front row in front of the bar. We had currywurst with fries and spare ribs with fries, both with an extra side salad. I thought the currywurst was good; the curry sauce was perfectly seasoned and really great. I found the amount of sauce and fries rather meager. I'd rather pay €3 more for a proper portion. The spare ribs were excellent in terms of meat and texture, but we found the barbecue sauce unpleasantly acidic. We found the side salads to be extremely basic: only one type of lettuce instead of several leafy greens, just coarsely chopped bell peppers and cucumber, and the dressing was completely tasteless. Some people also like mayonnaise with their currywurst and fries. They do have them, but unfortunately they come in those standard, squirting plastic bottles. Finally, a word about the menu: Everything was great, but I was missing a filet mignon or rump steak option. Thanks to the very attentive and friendly service, we will definitely come back and try more of the dishes.

I ate at Kuhhirten for the first time today since its reopening – and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were intentionally not overflowing, and therefore just right for enjoying an appetizer, main course, and dessert without any guilt. Both my stomach and my wallet were happy – a combination that's rare these days. The ambiance also immediately won me over: modern, clean, yet classically cozy. The restaurant's new color scheme is particularly lovely. With the carefully selected pictures on the walls, reflecting Bremen, every Bremen native's heart will beat a little faster – and even tourists are sure to be instantly charmed. You feel like you're in a traditional German roadside restaurant in the best sense: a place with a touch of vacation vibes, a place you'll want to return to, and home all in one. What I especially appreciate is the concept. Smaller, more substantial portions that offer a genuine dining experience – rather than overflowing plates simply to justify high prices. In a time when everything seems to be getting more expensive, this concept feels refreshingly honest, down-to-earth, and absolutely contemporary. Very tasty food at moderate prices, friendly service

An absolute culinary highlight! We actually found this restaurant by chance on Google as a replacement for another restaurant. *THE cowherd* has found a new regular in me. On this evening, October 4th, the very friendly and energetic young waiter (a student, as we later found out) was particularly special; it was a pleasure to watch this young man at work. We ate two fried eels and one roll, which exceeded our expectations. Just to add something, despite all the euphoria, the ambiance is unfortunately 80s with the corresponding junk; they need a bit of a lick of paint and a bit of redesign.

Service was attentive, and the food was delicious. On our second visit, we sat down at a table after consulting the waiter. The tablecloth was very dirty, and the waiter was nowhere to be seen for the next 10 minutes. (There were four tables occupied in the dining room.) We then left without ordering anything. Even as we left, we couldn't find the waiter. It's a shame, but that explains the mixed reviews.

Booked in for Sunday lunch time. Warm welcome, we wanted to sit in the restaurant to avoid anyone smoking outside. Good choice of German quisine.. All freshly prepared for that meal. The kuhhirten xxxl schnitzel IS XXXL so beware. The kuhhirten platter came with a tasty mushroom sauce and the meats were very tender. Staff spoke good English to confirm my attempts to speak German! All in all, a pleasant experience and not too painful on the wallet.

We got a table for two and a half people here after the Fans' Day without a reservation. A MUST-HAVE for all Werder fans, this was the stadium's founding venue. The food came quickly, but unfortunately, the steak wasn't cooked well. We would have appreciated a bit more from the kitchen. It was busy, but the servers were friendly and did their best. The food was reasonably priced and tasty. Our kids really enjoyed the small garden with the mud kitchen.

The food here is truly outstanding – fresh, plentiful, and prepared with love. The selection is large and varied, so there's guaranteed to be something for every taste. The portions are also generous, and you can tell that the ingredients used are high-quality. I have to deduct one star, however – not because of the food, but because of one page on the menu. There, rising costs, taxes, fees, and political conditions are discussed in great detail, in a passive-aggressive tone. With all due respect for the current situation in the restaurant industry, such a menu item is rather jarring and takes away from the anticipation of the meal. In my opinion, such messages don't belong here, especially since they unnecessarily detract from an otherwise positive experience. Conclusion: Highly recommended from a culinary perspective, but the menu should stick to the topic – the great food.

Unfortunately, no review of the food is possible: We arrived at the hotel next door this evening and wanted to grab a bite to eat with seven people. At 9:21 PM, we were told the kitchen would close at 9:30 PM and we should leave. So, we left hungry... So we went to McDonald's...

We spontaneously stopped by for dinner one evening. The terrace was moderately busy; initially, there were three servers on duty, two of whom initially ignored us, while the third then assigned us a table. Drinks were taken quickly, but took quite a while to arrive; another drink had to be requested by calling a server from inside. The food was delicious; unfortunately, the starter and main course arrived together, despite our prior request. Empty glasses were initially not taken away. When we pointed out the "poor service," the staff were friendly and took our criticism into account; they even gave us a drink on the house. Given the relatively good food, we would give the restaurant another chance.

June 21, 2025, a family celebration with 13 people. Our stay was as good as the weather that day. The food, service, drinks, and atmosphere were excellent. We hope we didn't disturb our fellow guests too much. I'll be back with my senior group in a few days.

Went back after a long time in the hope that things had improved. As soon as we sat down the waiter asked what we wanted to drink and then brought the menu. We ordered quickly. After that more and more guests came and were served and quickly got their drinks. After asking, we finally got our drinks after 40 minutes. 3 tables that arrived after us got their ordered food, but we still didn't after an hour. When we asked, yes, there is a lot to do, hello, 4 tables that arrived after us had their food and drinks before us. When we asked, another shrug of the shoulders. We paid for our drinks and left the restaurant and will never go back. Apparently the restaurant industry is doing badly, I think lack of interest is the problem.

We came to the asparagus dinner with 15 people. Although the place was only moderately full, we had to wait over an hour for our food. Then the plates were served one at a time. Unfortunately, the sauces (butter, hollandaise) were intentionally served at the very end, so the first few had to wait a while before they could start eating and it slowly got cold. This process needs to be changed... The food was super delicious. Excellent value for money too. Unfortunately... everyone's asparagus was very firm... since it was borderline and we were all starving, we ate it and didn't complain (but it annoyed us). In the end, unfortunately, we were charged for a drink that no one had ordered (the wrong beer arrived, we complained, the beer was returned, the correct one came, but BOTH were charged)....

Not recommended: The service seemed overwhelmed, the fried potatoes were soft and greasy, and the outdoor area overall made a rather unkempt impression. Better off going to Café Sand.

Exceptionally delicious and with friendly service. A traditional restaurant with distinction. In winter, the kale with Pinkel (a kind of sausage) is highly recommended. Pair it with a delicious Kräusen Pilsner on tap.

Bad service. We ordered coffee and cake for 15 people at 4 p.m. The table wasn't set, and coffee was served by the cup, which naturally took a while. The strawberry cake arrived at the table already torn. We complained and asked for the manager. Someone did come, but it wasn't the right manager. It was an employee. They had to decide whether it was being heated, otherwise it would probably still have been frozen. At 6 p.m., we finally had everything on the table. Wouldn't recommend it. Dinner came a bit faster. Well, yes, it was ready-made schnitzel, fried potatoes from a bag, and frozen vegetables. DRINKS ALSO TOOK A VERY LONG TIME OR DID NOT ARRIVE AT ALL. I PERSONALLY WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE Almost €500 is a lot of money. It was reserved in advance for 15 people.

Food: The food is delicious. The vegan Knipp was great, the vegan currywurst was okay. The portions could have been a little larger, but overall ok. Service: Very nice waitress, who then probably got off work and left the outside area to her two male colleagues who didn't try hard at all. Part of the order was forgotten, which we addressed immediately when the food arrived. The waiter hardly reacted, so the missing part was of course not delivered. When I asked again whether it would come straight away, it turned out that it wasn't passed on to the kitchen at all. Although we then said that we no longer needed it since we were finished, it was then delivered later and of course we were also billed for it. Overall, the two male waiters weren't attentive at all and were more busy talking to each other. Ambiance: old-fashioned inside and also a bit musty. The outside area was unfortunately a bit dirty, with tissues and other rubbish lying around.

Started strong, slowed down a lot! At the beginning we had friendly, great service, we ordered drinks and food. Unfortunately she got off work and the shop was left to her 2 male colleagues. When the food came, the fried egg was forgotten, which I mentioned straight away, the waiter said it would be there soon, 20 minutes later, I asked the second waiter what was happening, and it was noticed that it had simply not been passed on and nothing had happened in the 20 minutes. When the fried egg arrived, everything was already eaten and I said I didn't need it anymore. The waiter's words were just "yeah" and of course it was off on the bill. Overall, the two of them didn't make any effort at all, they were barely visible and even if they just stared at the floor, they just didn't allow themselves to be spoken to. We were happy to skip another drink and dessert.

Simply MEGA!!! We stayed in Bremen for 2 nights on the parking space next to it. I thought the restaurant would definitely not be good if it was next to a parking lot. BUT: IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!!!!! The schnitzel was tender as butter, the fried potatoes were delicious and the hunter's sauce was the best I've ever had. With fresh whole champion heads. My husband's fish and vegetables were also very tasty. Very good price. We'd love to come back when we're nearby.

The food was good, home-style. The schnitzels were good, as were the fried potatoes. The medallions were hard and chewy. The vegetables tasted like nothing and were watery. The service was very slow, chewing gum and totally not in the mood! He had forgotten our food order and we waited forever for everything. The restaurant is old-fashioned and outdated.

The vegetables came from the freezer and had little flavor on their own. And it wasn't further processed to taste, so we found something lukewarm on the plate that looked like cauliflower, broccoli and carrots. The pork medallion was way too chewy and hard. The mushrooms in the sauce had a soft consistency and therefore came from the jar. The fried potatoes were pleasantly hot, crispy and well seasoned. The service was subpar, I won't go into detail about that now.

We were at the Kuhhirten campsite and then went to eat at the Kuhhirte restaurant. The ambience is nice and simple. Our waitress Marissa was super friendly and very accommodating. She was also happy to accommodate our special requests. In terms of price, you can get dishes there that are at a good average price. We had a small salad, a schnitzel with fried potatoes and a grilled chicken with vegetables. The salad was great. The two main courses were good and tasty. I would like to emphasize once again that it always depends on how you prepare things yourself and how you like them yourself. There are also enough parking spaces there. All in all, a very good four star recommendation if you are ever in the area.

We were in the restaurant as a large Kohltour company. The food was very tasty 😋 but the tables were very cramped for eating. The music and the DJ were ideal for a Kohl tour and the fact that the bar was right next to the dance floor was perfect. Were there on a cabbage tour. Entrance at 6 p.m. and immediately the toilets were broken. Nothing meaningful was done all evening to solve the problem. The women's toilets (which had been converted into men's toilets - note on the door) were also in an underground condition by 8 p.m. at the latest. All in all, a disgrace for the price. Never again.

Yesterday we went to the Kuhherten for a cabbage tour with 20 people. We had two tables, one table had the full program served to the table, unfortunately they forgot to serve the kale. With so many customers, the staff was completely overwhelmed and could no longer be seen. The table next to us was kind enough to help us out with kale. The Kassler was completely dull, the Mettenden also completely dried out. The cabbage tasted burnt. The only thing that actually turned out well were the boiled potatoes. Unfortunately, things went just as badly with the drinks; a tea we ordered took about 20 minutes to reach the table. As a non-drinking person you really lost there yesterday. The coffee bar that was set up was a nice idea, but it only made sense if the coffee pot had been filled. About the toilets, well, Antifa smears on the wall and no more toilet paper from around eleven o'clock. Conclusion for me, never again. 75€ thrown out the window.

We were here on a cabbage drive. Great DJ. Very tasty food. The best meal on a cabbage trip in a long time. The dance floor is big enough for those who love fire. There was enough security and they did their job very well. The only drawback, but probably cannot be solved structurally in any other way, is that the toilets are in the basement. For people who are already intoxicated, this is a little more difficult to accomplish. But as I said, there is certainly no other way and it is not particularly problematic.

We have been there several times for asparagus tours, this time it was for the cabbage tour. Always great. Super organized. We'll be back.

On the way back from the toilet the menu was handed to me, My companion at the table hasn't even seen a waiter yet. Even though nothing was going on, it was pretty sad. Service comes and doesn't come, so we then leave the restaurant. Atmosphere outdated and not exactly comfortable.

Was there for a kale tour. I can recommend it.
