Kleblmühle in Grafenau

We have stayed at the Kleblmühle several times, and for good reason. A friendly welcome, friendly staff. A very clean holiday apartment where nothing is missing. Then there is the cozy restaurant with excellent cuisine and service. You feel completely at home there.

We went to Kleblmühle for lunch today. The service was very friendly, and the ambiance was also excellent. The highlight, however, was the food... We've rarely eaten as good as today. The portions were very generous and the taste was excellent. We'll definitely be back 👍

Very good food in a beautiful location. We'd love to come back next time we're in the area.

The waitress brought only the broth instead of beef broth with liver dumplings and thought this was the right thing to do. Then the next waitress came, who didn't understand anything, and then someone else came again. The main course arrived, and after several discussions, the soup with liver dumplings arrived. The food was very expensive, but not particularly good: no seasoning, nothing. They also charged €1.50 for a side dish change. Disastrous. There were only two couples and us. Not recommended.

The food is of very good quality - but compared to other, similarly priced competitors, it is now far too expensive.

Subject: Urgent report: Suspicion of illegal work, deception, and abuse of foreign workers – Kleblmühle, 94481 Grafenau Dear Sir or Madam, I would like to report a serious incident that, in my opinion, involves several legal violations: At the "Kleblmühle" accommodation in 94481 Grafenau, foreign workers, particularly young women from Hungary and Slovakia, are being lured with false promises of employment. A Hungarian man who lives on site allegedly organizes these workers for the company. The victims have their ID cards, tax IDs, and registration documents confiscated and copied. The next day, however, they are thrown out onto the street without any possibility of employment. The individuals are accused of failing to perform their work properly, even though they have not been assigned any work. In my opinion, these practices constitute clear violations of labor law, immigration law, and data protection. Furthermore, the targeted recruitment of young women endangers their safety and constitutes an abuse of vulnerable individuals. I therefore urge you to immediately investigate the operation and take appropriate measures to prevent further harm and protect those affected.

A very nice inn surrounded by nature with a large playground right next door. Unfortunately, there's no fence for small children, who could easily run out onto the road. Plenty of outdoor seating, both in the shade and in the sun. Inside, there are plenty of seats in various rooms. A great selection of different cakes. I paid €4.80 for a latte macchiato, which I found very tasty.

Very good food. Their own game products are definitely worth buying on-site. The venison ham is highly recommended (buttery soft and delicious). The cakes and tarts are delicious. The service is sometimes attentive, but unfortunately, the friendly lady speaks little of the local language.

We had dinner yesterday on August 9th 2025 with 25 people (birthday party)!! Reservations started at 6pm!! The whole party went on until about 9pm!! Unfortunately for the sad reason that we were simply "ignored"!!! The reason was clear..!! The staff wanted to finish work and get rid of us!! The staff didn't even come to the table to take the money...we had to go to the counter...!! That doesn't speak for the service and hospitality at all...!! The 25 of us will be avoiding this restaurant from now on and will not recommend it to anyone...!!!

The hotel is very clean and tidy. All the staff are very friendly. The food in the restaurant is delicious and of a good quality. Generous portions at a fair price. The atmosphere is great 👍. The breakfast is also very good and varied. Overall, I felt very comfortable here.

Excellent restaurant with very friendly service. We stumbled upon it because dogs weren't allowed in the local restaurant during our stay in Neuschönau, but we're very happy we did, as it was a great discovery. Great menu, very good beer selection. As someone from the Weinviertel, I was delighted by the wine list, featuring lots of wines from our region, but when you go to Bavaria, you still stick to beer ;) The dishes are described in an original way and lovingly prepared. Even our vegetarians found enough variety for two evenings – and missed out on the excellent meat dishes. Steak dishes are included on the menu at a reasonable price, definitely an investment you won't regret.

A dream, even with a free charging station

We were just guests at the restaurant. The food was delicious, the portions generous, and the dessert was a real treat. The waitresses were very friendly but a bit too accommodating. By that, I mean, the waitress came to our table a bit too often and at very short intervals to ask if everything was okay. The table was cleared before everyone had even finished eating. It felt a bit pressured. Nevertheless, I would happily eat there again anytime.

At first, we were a little skeptical, as the restaurant is located very remotely in the forest – but our concerns quickly vanished. The food was truly outstanding! I'd even say I had the best fried chicken salad of my life here. The restaurant itself is beautiful: quaint and cozy, yet modern at the same time. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel immediately welcome. The quiet location invites you to linger and creates a real holiday atmosphere – ideal for unwinding. After dinner, we went for a walk and even spotted deer that we could feed – a real highlight! All in all, a beautiful place with great food and a relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

We stopped here for a quick, delicious lunch. We were a little early, so the place was still pretty empty except for a large group of children. But the terrace quickly filled up. If we're in the area again around lunchtime, we'll be happy to stop here again!

Nice restaurant, very good food. Staff is very friendly. I find it funny that you can feed the animals on one side (for a fee of €1), and on the other side you can feed animals like these 😁🫣 Very nice location, there's also a small playground for children. Plenty of parking available.

Eight of us (four children) came here for lunch. We received a friendly welcome, and the service and food were excellent. The portions were generous, more than filling. There's a great selection for vegetarians, including dishes that aren't the same as everywhere else. The setting is wonderfully idyllic, and there's a large playground for the children.

The inn is truly a gem. The hosts are very friendly and personable. The food is delicious. Everything is run with love.

We were here for lunch today. Super family-friendly restaurant, lovely terrace overlooking the fantastic playground and deer enclosure. The food is prepared with passion and only the finest ingredients are used, which is reflected in the quality of the dishes. All the dishes were beautifully presented and everyone enjoyed them. Bevor wir an einer Wildtiernachtführung im Nationalpark teilnahmen, stärkten wir uns noch am frühen Abend in der Kleblmühle. Es war sehr wenig los, was uns nicht störte. Wenn man Kinder dabei hat, dann sind die vorhandenen Spielmöglichkeiten (u.a. Rutsche, Tischtennisplatte) positiv zu erwähnen. Unsere Bedienung war freundlich, wirkte allerdings etwas unsortiert und für ein zweites Bier musste ich sie dann schon eher aktiv an den Tisch bitten. Dafür, dass so wenig Kundschaft dort war, etwas enttäuschend. Gegessen haben wir u.a. den Räucherlachs, den Schweizer Wurstsalat und die Hirsch-Currywurst. Die Portionen waren recht großzügig, hätten aber leckerer sein dürfen. So richtig abgeholt hat es mich nicht....

We spent four nights in a vacation apartment there. It was a great, very well-equipped apartment! Unfortunately, it was very dusty, and there were cobwebs everywhere. The playground in front of the house is a dream for children. However, some things there are broken (slide, tire tower) and may not be entirely safe anymore. All in all, it was a great, worthwhile stay in a lovely accommodation with very friendly staff in a very beautiful setting!

We went there for dinner. It was excellent. The portions were large and very tasty. The seating was comfortable on the terrace. Highly recommended.

We love venison, so we decided to eat there at short notice. A well-kept, simple inn, with prices more for those on the larger side, so the simpler dining room and the service (birthday dinner) weren't quite right. The food/venison roast was plentiful, and the quality of the food was excellent. The food was perfectly warm, the roast tender, and the side dishes were also delicious. We'll be happy to come back.

After a week at home, we still fondly remember the wonderful time we had. We enjoyed the hospitality, the peace and quiet, and the plentiful food. At home, we enjoy the venison specialties. If we stay healthy, we will definitely come again. Best regards, the Witt family

Recommended! The farm shop at the reception offers a various range of deer meat from our own farm.

A perfect place to enjoy great game dishes from our own hunt and breeding. The Kleblmühle is beautifully located, in the middle of nature and a bit out of the way. Great game sausages from our own butchery are also sold in the restaurant. Highly recommended.

On the way home from the treetop path we stopped at the Kleblmühle. We both took the deer braren with dumplings, spaetzle and chanterelles. We really enjoyed it and the price/performance ratio was also good. We paid just under €70 for everything with a side salad and four drinks.

Perfectly quiet location and for hikes

Some time ago, I was a guest at the Kleblmühle again. After the renovation it became really nice there. Ambiance is pleasant. The memory card is versatile. The only thing that really shocked me was the prices. I certainly understand that everything has become more expensive, as well as electricity, personnel costs and purchasing goods. But the prices there in the Kleblmühle are very borderline

The Kleblmühle is a very quiet, family-run country hotel. Surrounded by Serwald, this inn is in a very idyllic location. The owners are very warm and take care of every concern you raise. Everything is very clean and tidy and you have everything you need to spend relaxing days in the Bavarian Forest. In terms of gastronomy, you can get hearty Bavarian food in the Kleblmühle that is really very well prepared and there is nothing to criticize. If you don't find anything here, it's your own fault. The parking situation is also positive. Everyone will find a place to park here. It is also possible to charge electric vehicles. However, it is a coincidence if you get a charging option. The idea here is good, but the practical implementation has not yet been fully thought through. The stay was very entertaining and I would like to spend a few pleasant days in the middle of the Bavarian Forest again at any time.

Super good food and very nice atmosphere

We went to eat at Kleblmühle today because we wanted to eat game, which was otherwise unavailable in Grafenau. What can we say: It was simply delicious. There were medallions of young deer that were cooked to perfection and were eaten like butter. The venison goulash was also very tender and more than tasty. Children's chicken schnitzel is mega big, crispy and very tasty. Our children had fried potatoes instead of fries. Operation and service were very good, we would definitely stop by again if we were in the area again. All we can say is: incredibly good food in a really great atmosphere.

Was here for 3 days when my wife and son were in Grafenau for a spa treatment. The two of them preferred to be here in the Kleblmühle than in your facility. ;-) Short and sweet: Great location, nice rooms, great scenery, top class food. Breakfast rich and tasty. Friendly staff, always helpful and attentive. This is how real hospitality works!!! If you also want to eat good game, you've come to the right place! Many thanks to the entire Kleblmühle team!!!

Delicious game dishes and very nice service :-)

Die Kleblmühle ist einfach ein schöner Ort! An einem kleinen Bach gelegen, findet sich ein Wildgehege, ein Kinderspielplatz, Spielgeräte, direkt am Restaurant. Man sitzt auf urigen Bänken oder bequemer auf Sesseln am Tisch, unter großen Marktschirmen. Besonders schön ist also bei gutem Wetter der Außenbereich. Die Kleblmühle ist an sich ein Urlaubsziel. Warum dann dieser Abzug? Über die Jahre hinweg habe ich dieses Restaurant regelmäßig besucht. Es hat sein Angebot moderat aufgebaut, doch bleibt die Speisekarte regional und wenig aufregend, auch wenn natürlich durch die Rotwildhaltung das Angebot an Wildgerichten größer ist. Die Küche ist durchaus schmackhaft, ich würde sagen: mittelmäßig. Kuchen und Torten sind allerdings erfreulich üppig, wobei hier das hohe Preisniveau eher verschmerzbar ist. Sollte es in ihrer Urlaubszeit ein Angebot aus dem Backhaus geben, reservieren Sie einen Tisch. Vor allem, wenn sie gerne fleischlastig essen, wird Schäufele oder Haxen sie erfreuen. Erwähnt sei, dass bisweilen Kindergruppen nerven deren Mütter die Chance geniessen, ihre Kinder unbeaufsichtigt toben zu lassen. Die Horde entstammt dem nahen Müttererholungsheim. Die Bedienungen halten sie nicht im Schach, zumal deren Deutschkenntnisse oft rudimentär sind.

We really enjoyed the holiday itself, the food was delicious, never so good in Bavaria. Forest eaten. Rooms really nicely furnished and nice quiet location. What I would have liked... More for the children, a paddling pool at 30 degrees or a little more or at least new toys. Wood had toys, baby swing with porous plastic, no sand toys...

Went there for dinner with a bus group, it worked very well and everyone was happy. Good price-performance ratio!

We were there for the first time today because I got a good impression when I drove past. It's very beautiful there. The facility is great. The greeting from a waitress was a bit sparse which, as we later discovered, was probably due to the language. In any case, we were served well and quickly and were repeatedly asked whether everything was okay, which was very nice. Starter with salmon and potato pancakes was absolutely great. The chanterelle soup tastes like a poem and is full of chanterelles. Really great. The spaetzle baked with cheese was also great. Only the dumplings with sauce could be improved. Bread dumplings a bit softer and perhaps more like gravy or cream mushroom sauce. But that's complaining at a high level. Otherwise all around great👍

Es ist ein sehr schönes Lokal, bzw. ein Landgasthof mit Hotel. Das Personal ist nett und zuvorkommend. Flotte Bedienung. Sehr sauber. Kartenzahlung möglich. Das Essen ist gut und viel. Jedoch nicht mehr ganz zeitgemäß. Das Fleisch, die Knödel und die Spätzle werden mit einer sehr dicken Sahnesauce übergossen. Die Spätzle waren frisch, der Knödel schmeckte wie ein Fertigprodukt aber nicht schlecht. Alles in allem erinnert mich das daran, wenn die Oma früher Braten mal mit Fertigsoße serviert hat.

Review of the restaurant - drinking coffee After a hike we went to the Kleblmühle for coffee. Very good cakes, good selection. Prices reasonable. The menu with deer specialties appeals to us. We'll definitely come back. You can also see the deer diagonally opposite the restaurant.

We can only rate the restaurant as we only went there to eat. The reception was friendly and we were able to choose a seat that had not been reserved. The waitress came after a reasonable, pleasant time, brought us the menu and asked us about the drinks. Pork loin in pepper sauce with roasted potatoes and pork schnitzel with fries tasted very good. Both meals were generously laid out and the side salad ordered with it was varied, tasty and fresh. The prices are slightly higher but quite reasonable for the quality and quantity. We'd love to come back.

The three of us went there for dinner late in the afternoon on Saturday. Not much attended. The quality of some of the dishes was not worth the price, even without salad. Many dishes were too expensive. Otherwise, the restaurant is cozy and the staff is very friendly.

We only visited the restaurant. Badly attended for a Sunday evening with only 5 people. Overall, the quality of meals has declined significantly in recent years. If you're only there once a year, you really notice it. Who knows what the reason is?

Great living, great food, great chilling

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the rooms. We just stopped there. It's very cozy. They have very tasty cakes and delicious baked apple mulled wine 😋 The staff is very friendly. We recommend.

Sehr gutes Essen und guter Service, freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. Leider ist der Standort ein bisschen abgelegen und wenn man nicht ortskundig ist, etwas schwer zu finden! Und ich persönlich finde die Preise teilweise ein bisschen überteuert! Aber ansonsten ein tolles Landhotel. Kann leider nichts über die Zimmer sagen, weil ich noch nie dort übernachtet habe. Da ich bisher nur dort im Restaurant gegessen habe.

Die Kleblmühle an der kleinen Ohe etwa 2km östlich von Grafenau bietet in der Gastwirtschaft mit den Wild-Gerichten eine kulinarische Abwechslung für den Gaumen.

Ein wirklich mit sehr viel Liebe eingerichtetes und geführtes Hotel. Bin dienstlich in vielen Hotels unterwegs aber schon lange nicht mehr in so einem schönen gewesen ! Bitte weiter so.

Ein Blick in die Speisekarte zeigt schon, dass es sich hier um eine Hochburg des Fleischkonsums handelt. So weit so gut. Dennoch sollten heutzutage auch Vegetarier auf ihre Kosten kommen können. In der Kleblmühle ist das leider nicht der Fall. Auf der Speikarte gibt es genau drei vegetarische Gerichte. Zwei davon die ewig „Verdächtigen“: Käsespätzle und irgendwelche Kartoffelröstis. Langeweile pur. Besser hörte sich dagegen „Kartoffel-Lasagne“ an, die wir erwartungsfroh (dummerweise gleich beide) bestellten. Die Entäuschung war riesig und das für 16,50 €! In einer Auflaufform lagen einige Teile verkochter, völlig geschmackloser und in Sahne schwimmender Kartoffeln. Dazwischen ein paar Tupfer Frischkäse. Oben drauf ein kaum geschmolzener Scheibenkäse und etwas Mozzarella. Keine Röstaromen, kein Geschmack, nichts. Das war weder etwas, das in irgendeiner Weise mit Lasagne noch mit Kartoffelauflauf in Verbindung gebracht werden hätte können. Das einzig Positive: Auf unsere Beschwerde hin kam die Chefin an unseren Tisch und machte glaubhaft, dass sie unsere Unzufriedenheit ernst nahm und uns als „Entschädigung“ einen Schnaps anbot. Selten haben uns 16,50 mal zwei so sehr gereut…

Immer wieder toll hier. Entspannung garantiert. Super leckeres Essen und freundliche Gastgeber.
