Hotel Gasthaus Zum Kellermann in Grafenau

Im Juni waren wir für zwei Nächte dort. Wir können dieses Hotel weiter emfehlen. Die Inhaber sind sehr Gastfreundlich. Die Verflegung war sehr gut, und der service war super. Da wir wieder hinfahren, werden wir dort natülich wieder übernachten. M.Döringer 😃😃😃

Wir waren im Hotel mit Hund und können sowohl das Hotel als auch das Restaurant empfehlen. Die Betreiber sind super freundlich, das Zimmer war großzügig und alles was man brauchte. Beim Restaurantbesuch haben wir Avocado-Burger, Schnitzel und Lachs mit Spargel gehabt. Alle essen waren sehr lecker und gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis! Danke

Unser Besuch im Gasthaus Kellermann am Montagmittag war leider kein Highlight. Wir bestellten das steirische Backhendl und den Steaksalat. Das Backhendl verbrachte offensichtlich zu lange Zeit in der Fritteuse, die Panade war grenzwertig „knusprig“ und das Fleisch trocken. Der Kartoffel-Vogerlsalat bestand aus einem Töpfchen Kartoffelsalat, frisch aus der Kühlung, daneben ein Sträußchen Feldsalat mit einigen Tropfen Kürbiskernöl. Die Kürbiskerne fehlten. Wie man einen steirischen Kartoffel-Vogerlsalat zubereitet, dürfte dem Chef wohl bekannt sein. Das Fleisch auf dem Steaksalat war sehr gut, weich und gut gewürzt, der Salat bestand überwiegend aus Frisée, auf das wässrige Dressing am Tellerboden musste man sich erst durchkämpfen. Die Gremolata fehlte. Die Krönung war dann noch das „feine Gebäck“ das sich als halbe aufgeschnittene Semmel entpuppte. Auch wenn es in der Region kaum mehr ein Lokal gibt, das montags, und dann auch noch mittags geöffnet ist, wird dieser Besuch beim Kellermann unser einziger bleiben.

Super Hotel mit Restaurant, das Essen sehr lecker und Service/Personal super freundlich. Die Zimmer sind sauber und gepflegt. Ein sehr hilfsbereiter und netter Inhaber. Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen 👍👍👍

Das Zimmer des Gasthauses war sehr sauber und gepflegt. Das Gasthaus hat eine Top Lage mitten in der Stadt. Der Service und die Mitarbeiter waren top und das Restaurant kann man nur empfehlen. Der Inhaber ist ein sehr netter und hilfsbereiter Mensch. Wir würden das Gasthaus jederzeit weiter empfehlen und auch jederzeit selbst wieder hin kommen.

Über das Hotel und den dazugehörigen Komfort kann ich nicht urteilen, da wir nur zum Mittagessen in der Gaststube waren. Das Mittagessen wiederum war absolut lecker und sehr schön angerichtet 😊 Das Interieur ist auch gut abgestimmt. Das wichtigste aber, sämtliche Bedienungen sind richtig freundlich. Preislich war es für uns auch vollkommen akzeptabel. Alles in allem ist dies ein Ort zum Empfehlen. Macht weiter so 👍🏻

Ich habe meinen Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Die Fastgeber sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Im Zimmer ist alles was man für ein paar Tage benötigt vorhanden. Preis Leistung passt super. Komme gerne wieder.

Man merkt sofort, dass hier mit Können und Liebe zum Detail gekocht wird. Der Service war ebenso überzeugend – freundlich, aufmerksam und angenehm unaufdringlich. Man fühlt sich willkommen und gut betreut. Ein großes Kompliment an Küche und Service. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und können das Gasthaus & Hotel Zum Kellermann uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

Sehr schöne Zimmer, neu renoviert. Zentrale Lage am Stadtplatz. Frühstück sehr gut, sogar Hafermilch vorhanden. Spiegeleier oder Rühreier werden frisch in der Küche zubereitet. Wir sind außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten angekommen. War überhaupt kein Problem. Nach kurzem Anruf kam der Chef persönlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

The hotel and inn "Zum Kellermann" is highly recommended! The service was truly excellent and incredibly friendly. The food was truly delicious and also really hot, which is something that's often neglected these days. It's also incredibly cozy, with everything beautifully decorated and prepared! So be sure to pay it a visit.

We "only" ate at the restaurant. I would gladly give it 6 stars. It was the best meal of our entire vacation there. The kids loved it, which hasn't really been the case at any other restaurant. They even gave us a Lego reward for eating up everything. Simply fantastic!

Very nice, helpful, and accommodating hotel owners. I was very pleased to receive a call after booking to check everything was okay. The rooms are clean and spacious. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The self-service breakfast includes bread rolls, corn bread, butter, jam, etc. For me, if I ever come this way again, staying there is a must. The price/performance ratio is absolutely perfect!

Good morning, I've been staying at this hotel for a week now, and I have to say it's a very nice hotel. Great service, the breakfast is delicious, and the staff is super friendly. The chef even works in the kitchen. 😊 I would definitely book it again, and the location, right in the center of town, is simply perfect. You can reach everything on foot in just a few minutes.

I can't comment on the rooms, as I'm a local and only frequent the inn. However, in my opinion, the cuisine in Grafenau is the best you can get in the Bavarian/Austrian category. Especially the Austrian specialties, such as Wiener Schnitzel or Backhendl, are probably unparalleled in the entire district. The Backhendl, in particular, deserves special praise. It's a dish that actually seems quite "simple," but it's really not easy to make. I've already been served "Backhendl" in expensive restaurants in Salzburg, which I unfortunately had to return because I would have been afraid for my health if I had eaten it. As I said, it's not easy. You have to fry it here for a long time and at a low temperature. If you simply throw the breaded chicken into the deep fryer you also use for fries and the like, the breading will quickly burn, while the chicken meat will still be completely raw inside. You have to know exactly what you're doing here. The chef(s) at Kellermann clearly know exactly what they're doing. I've eaten this dish here several times, and although I usually try my hand at the entire menu at restaurants I really like (like this one) and rarely order the same thing twice, I will definitely order it here again and again, because it's so rare to even find this dish on the menu, and if I do... As I said, I've been severely disappointed several times, even in Austria, the home of this delicious dish. At Kellermann: a clear recommendation from me! Crispy on the outside but not burnt, cooked through but still very juicy on the inside. This is Champions League! The other dishes I've tried so far, either by myself or by friends and family, have always been of excellent quality: salad with beef, cordon bleu (veal), pepper steak, soups and broths, roast pork... Everything has always been of the highest quality. A little tip from me: get the Italian dishes like "Pinsa" and Carpaccio off the menu. There's no substitute. As a truly good Austrian-run restaurant, you don't need to satisfy the local yobs' hunger for "pizza salami with wheat beer." They should (literally) go to Roberto or Da Peppo a block away. Obviously, these dishes in particular haven't done you any favors in the past. I find it stupid, even insane, to order "pinsa" or carpaccio in an Austrian-run restaurant with typical Austrian dishes on the menu, but of course: as long as it's on the menu, it will be ordered again and again. And then you have to (contrary to expectations) deliver excellent quality there too, or you'll immediately be bombarded with the most fulsome criticism. I would just leave it alone, I have to say, quite honestly. As I said, if you want Italian, you really only have to walk 20 or 30 meters down the street. I must admit, though, that I'm not sure whether the quality of your Italian food is actually subpar. As I mentioned before, it would never occur to me to order something Italian in such a restaurant. But that's the only criticism I've heard from people around me so far, that the Italian food is simply subpar. Whether that's really true, I'll never find out for myself, because I'm far too busy enjoying your wonderful Austrian specialties. I hope this restaurant will be around for a very, very long time, because as long as it's there serving a fried chicken like that, I'll never be able or willing to stay away for very long.

Absolutely poor service! I was in the beer garden at 6:30 p.m., and by 8 p.m., no one was able to serve a Spezi! It was the same with every guest around me: around 7 p.m., the beer was out, and Champions, etc.

We went out for dinner for the second time today, trying the Pfeffertöpfchen (pepper pot) and the Wiener Schnitzel. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and plentiful. We'd happily go back again 😊

I can only report on the food, not the rooms and the accompanying services. We spontaneously decided on the lunch special. I had the cordon bleu, and my friend the XXL schnitzel. The cordon bleu tasted and looked great, just maybe with a bit more meat, since there were no other sides. The schnitzel was plentiful, and it came with a nice portion of fries. Service was first-class, friendly, and courteous. We didn't have to wait long for it, and it was delivered to our table at the right temperature. I also don't understand the people who always write negative comments about it being too cold, etc. Address it in person, then there won't be any negative comments. But they always trash everything online. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely go back; I was personally impressed.

There's no Kellermann (restaurant), absolutely recommended! The southern German/Austrian menu completely suits my taste. I also thought the seasonal asparagus menu was great. The asparagus cordon bleu was so delicious, I've never had anything like it!😋 The delicious Bernaise sauce was very well seasoned with it. And the asparagus cream soup beforehand was also very good. The portion sizes were perfect for me, because it makes a starter (and/or dessert) fun again. Overall, all 14 at the table were very satisfied with their dishes. 😊 And the price-performance ratio is fair - e.g. today for 4 people €32 each, two including starters and including drinks. Not to forget the very fast and perfect service today, and that on Easter Sunday! Gladly again soon. 👌🏻

It was a unique experience! We went for dinner with four people on Easter Sunday. My request to please clean the table because there was still leftover food from the previous person was dismissed with a harsh "wo" - wiped with a wet cloth and then not dried - good thing I wasn't wearing a light-colored top. The waiting time of 35 minutes was just acceptable. A beautifully presented meal then arrived in baskets – truly a feast for the eyes. My pepper pot tasted good - but far too few side dishes and meat. The same thing happened to my fellow campaigners. The pike-perch portion was definitely a joke - no child will be fed up with it. The food was rather lukewarm for all of us. At this price level I expect sufficient portions and hot food. The friendliness of the boss was nowhere near that of her predecessor. Too bad...

Unfortunately, there was an unpleasantly long wait for food, 1.5 to 2 hours despite a reservation. Unfortunately there wasn't more than one drink in it due to the lack of attentive service. The dishes were good, but unfortunately the portions were also smaller than average.

Lunch at Zum Kellermann, Grafenau on February 14th, 2025: Alexandra had schnitzel basket (pork, turkey, chicken) with potatoes and salad, €16.90. Uschi lunch menu spaghettini with fish piccata, €8.90. 0.5 l blackcurrant spritzer, 0.5 l wine spritzer, 2 x espressos, total 42 euros. Food freshly prepared, nothing from the retort. Service very friendly.

Like the last few times, everything was very good. Very nice staff and very tasty food. Cozy atmosphere and just right for Grafenau. I didn't see or use the rooms because we only go here to eat.

My wife and I had dinner at the “Zum Kellermann” inn on New Year’s Eve 2025. A cozy restaurant awaited us. Luckily we had reserved the table and the food a few days before. The inn was already busy early in the evening. (So ​​please book in advance.) We received a very friendly welcome. The staff is competent and very helpful. The dishes have a very good price-performance ratio and are also visually very appealing. Unfortunately, only cash payment is possible. (Two ATMs are on site.) The inn can be reached very easily by public transport, the bus and forest railway station is about 7 minutes away and also by car. There are plenty of parking options in the immediate vicinity and at the spa park, about 10 minutes away. That evening we had a strong bouillon of grass-fed beef with fries and roast venison with potato croquettes, tossed vegetables, elderberry red cabbage and Burgundy cream sauce. (see pictures) Both were very tasty and highly recommended including drinks at €60!! The other dishes on the menu offer something for every guest. We'll definitely be happy to come back in the near future!!

Our family had lunch at Kellermann's on December 25th, 2024. First of all we have to say that unfortunately not everything was good here. The menu was small, which we understand for Christmas, but the selection of dishes was not designed for the holidays. There wasn't even a goose or a duck, typical of the time. The roast venison was definitely not from deer. The side dishes were also really sparse. Very little sauce, some frozen vegetables, a spoonful of red cabbage and three small croquettes. When we asked, we were given four more croquettes, but they cost an additional 3 euros. In order to gain regular guests you have to treat people differently. The fried chicken was positive, it tasted really good, but the salad had very little dressing which is why it didn't taste particularly good. I had eaten there a week before and had a schnitzel with fries, which was really very good. We can only hope that Christmas Day was a blip, otherwise it will be difficult here in Grafenau.

The way to the toilets wasn't appetizing either, as the men's toilet smells very much like old urine, you don't feel welcome here. I'm very sorry, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I hope you also understand the meaning behind “review” giving feedback. It should be there to tell you: What is good / or what is not so good and what could possibly be improved. Unfortunately, I have the feeling that they ignore other people's opinions, feel attacked and immediately write back negatively. With this in mind, I wish you much success and a wonderful, contemplative time, as well as a happy new year in 2025. I will definitely come visit you again and perhaps you will have implemented some of the suggestions that your guests have shared with you. Otherwise they are unfortunately wrong in the industry.

First of all: The owner has changed and no longer has anything to do with the previous “Kellermann”! When it came to food, he was subpar. It would therefore have been better to change the name so that the bad reviews from the predecessor would also be gone. Now to yesterday's visit with 5 people: the selection and food was very good throughout. Unfortunately, the only drink available at the moment is Bucher beer. The Zwickl beer was even drinkable. Since the owners are Austrian, the waitress says there will also be Austrian beers available in the near future. Food: Only the portions, especially the side dishes, could be a little larger. The taste and quality is really very good! Desserts are Austrian (Eispallatschinken, Kaiserschmarrn,...) and therefore very tasty. The waitresses were very nice. Conclusion: If you want to eat well in Grafenau, then you are in good hands here.

We really enjoy coming to the restaurant and always get very tasty food. On top of that, we get a lot of help from Ms. Peterhansl about which dishes are gluten-free, and she is always very welcoming. Thank you to her and the flexible creative chef.

We were here for dinner. The service was friendly and responded to our wishes. The food was very good and the prices were reasonable. I would have goat cheese on colorful vegetables with tossed potatoes. This was very tasty and a reasonable portion. The dessert plate was mega and even enough for two people. I can recommend the restaurant and would go there again.

The menu has a large selection with something for everyone. The portions weren't particularly large, but sufficient. Essen war gut! Der Service war wünschenswert! Ich war die letzten 12 Monate vier mal zum Essen dort, man hat bemerkt, dass die anderen Stammkunden bevorzugt behandelt werden! Ich war heute an meinem Geburtstag mit meinem Mann dort, auf die Frage an die Chefin, ob es einen Geburtstags- Schnaps gibt, kam die Antwort „wir suchen uns schon selbst aus, wer einen bekommt! Ein einfaches Nein hätte genügt, Ihre Aussage war beleidigend! Fünf Minuten später kam sie noch an und hat mir zum Geburtstag gratuliert. Wir können dass Lokal für Stammkunden empfehlen, als seltener Kunde wird man ziemlich ignoriert! Wir werden das Lokal nicht empfehlen, da hier nicht jeder Gast gleich behandelt wird!

Guten Essen und super netter Service...sehr zuvorkommend...wir kommen gern wieder

Wir waren am Montag dort. Da es Montags allgemein schwierig ist ein offenes Restaurant zu finden sind wir auf das Gasthaus Kellermann gestoßen. Vom Ambiente her ist es ein ganz normales Gasthaus. Die Servicedame war freundlich auch zu den Kindern. Das Essen war sehr, sehr lecker nur die Portionen hätten etwas größer sein können. Bei der Schweinebratensoße merkte man das sie selbst gemacht war und keine Tütchensoße. War sehr lecker. Das Fleisch beim Grillteller war auf den Punkt perfekt. Leider mussten wir ziemlich lange auf das Essen warten was aber der gute Geschmack wieder gut machte. Zu guter letzt haben wir uns noch einen gemischten Nachspeisenteller gegönnt der mit 12,50 € zwar nicht preisgünstig aber jeden Cent wert war. Es war darauf wirklich alles Hausgemacht. Sowohl die 4 verschieden Eisnockerl als auch die verschiedenen Cremes und Soßen die mit Feigen und anderem Obst abgerundet wurde. Jedes für sich ein Gedicht. Wir können das Gasthaus mit bestem Gewissen weiter empfehlen.

Super leckeres Essen, einfach wow die Sterne reichen nicht aus , genau so das Personal super freundlich ,waren vor Öffnungszeiten da dürften sofort rein wurden super freundlich bedient zum weiterempfehlen 100% immer wieder

Viele Jahre kehren wir schon beim Kellermann ein wenn wir Urlaub im bayerischen Wald machen. Das Essen ist immer sehr lecker, der Service freundlich und das Lokal sowie die Toiletten sauber. Auch ist der wöchentlich wechselnde Mittagstisch sehr zu empfehlen. Übernachtet haben wir auch schon. Wir kommen bald wieder und freuen uns!

Local guesthouse near to the Grafenau bus station (around 5 minutes walk). The location is very good, surrounded by lots of restaurants and cafés. The room itself was clean and comfy but outside of the room smelled like something old and food, which was not pleasant at all. Very overpriced in my opinion, but I’m not sure if there are a lot of other options to stay in Grafenau even for 1 night!

Wir waren nach längerer Zeit mal wieder 2 Nächte dort, uns gefällt, dass es die bekannten freundlichen Gesichter der Menschen noch gibt, gerade in der schweren Corona Zeit, ist das nicht selbstverständlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und fein gegessen. Frühstück war lecker, wurde immer gefragt, ob wir etwas brauchen. Schön, dass es diesen Familienbetrieb schon so lange gibt, das Haus ist sauber und gepflegt. Küche wie gesagt, sehr fein. Danke

Essen war heute wieder super lecker! Jedoch wurde mir beim Abservieren der Getränke der vorherigen Gäste ein halbes Glas Weißbier drüber geschüttet, als Entschädigung dürfte ich die nicht benutze Stoffserviette der vorherigen Gäste nutzen.. Service geht anderes ;)

Alles hast gepasst. Zimmer volkommen in Ordnung. Küche sehr gut. Wenn ich wieder in Grafenau bin , werde ich dort wieder übernachten.

Sehr gute saisonale Gerichte, nette Gastgeber und sehr saubere Zimmer. Absolut gute Lage mitten in Grafenau. Der Bahnhof der Waldbahn ist fußläufig sehr schnell erreichbar. Für einen Wochenendtrip optimal!

Im Zentrum von Grafenau gelegen. Gute Küche, saubere Zimmer, freundliches Personal! Man fühlt sich wohl und der Preis passt auch! Kann man nur empfehlen!

Haben ein Rostbraten und Käsespätzle gegessen war sehr lecker

Wir wurden sehr freundlich bedient, das Essen war ausgesprochen lecker. Besonders erfreulich war, dass es gleich mehrere vegetarische Gerichte in der Karte gab. Wir kommen wieder.

Es gibt hauptsächlich regionale Küche, die aber auch die eine oder andere kulinarische Überraschung bereit hält. Alles kommt frisch zubereitet aus besten Zutaten auf den Tisch. Der Service ist schnell und freundlich. Die Atmosphäre ist ebenfalls sehr angenehm. Und das Ganze zu wirklich fairen Preisen.

Wir hatten im Zuge einer Pauschale des Fremdenverkehrsamts ein drei Gänge "Bärenmenü". Alles hat sehr gut geschmeckt und war absolut frisch zubereitet. Auch der Service war flott und freundlich. Eine klare Empfehlung....
