Delicious food, excellent service, we really enjoyed it!

It's been a long time since I've been back to Kindelsberg 😊. The food was delicious and plentiful, the prices reasonable, and the service friendly and good. We'll be back.

One star less, because we didn't like being addressed informally by a young woman out of nowhere. A beer glass had a small fly stuck to it, and after informing them that the beer would stay in it for this reason, they smiled away. Food was excellent...

After a long hike up the mountain, this is a wonderful place to stop for a bite to eat. Hearty food and Krombacher beer on tap. Plus, a fantastic view!

Even though we were there with a large group of people, all ordering at the same time, the staff was confident and friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful; we'll definitely be back.

We were there for a company party. The new ambiance was very nice. Unfortunately, the food was completely out of keeping with the price. The schnitzels were completely dry and unseasoned. It felt like they were ancient and had been quickly reheated...at least for those prices, I expect a freshly cooked schnitzel. The price-performance ratio is unfortunately not right here. The bag salad is also completely unacceptable. It's a shame...we can't recommend it.

The interiors are freshly renovated, modern, and very cozy. Unfortunately, the service is poor. The Kindelsberg is far from a customer-oriented restaurant.

We visited the tower again today and enjoyed a very good meal with excellent service, and we didn't have to wait long. Keep up the good work, we'll be back.

I rode to the tower today with my three horses. We received a very friendly welcome! Buckets of water were brought to our horses, and the four of us girls also received thirst quenchers. Thank you for that!

The ambience is really beautiful, particularly when the weather is nice, but they urgently need to hire more trained staff. Yes, it was busy, but the young girls were completely overwhelmed and, what annoyed me most, they became very snippy. We ordered more fries. After an hour and repeated requests, I went to the front. The kitchen was already washing up and they called out that no order had been received. The waitress was pretty rude to us and acted as if we were impatient guests, no wonder after an hour of waiting. We then said that we didn't need any more fries even though our daughter was hungry, but they should have at least remained friendly and, above all, dealt with our concerns. We could also hear the guests' dissatisfaction around us. But how can it be that the owner isn't there on such nice days, or at least look into better staff? P.S. Afterwards, the waiters were smoking, and people in the restaurant were wondering why the bill hadn't arrived 😅 oh well, we still had a great day and didn't let it spoil our mood. By the way, the food was almost cold 🤷‍♀️

The rest stop has been beautifully renovated inside. Very nice, light-colored furniture. A wonderful ambiance. Very good food and attentive staff. Good service. We were there with 15 people and all the dishes were served together. We will be back!!!

The food and service were good, but the ambiance isn't that cozy. The once quaint restaurant has been remodeled with very light-colored furniture. Unfortunately, it's not cozy either, as neither the benches nor the chairs are padded, but rather have wafer-thin felt cushions. That's a real shame 😢 Perhaps this suggestion will be taken into account and the furniture will at least be made a bit more comfortable with upholstery or at least decent seat cushions...

We were there on Sunday with our e-bikes. The food was good, the service was young and friendly. We'd love to come back.

We set the Kindelsberg Tower as our mountain bike destination, and we reached it. Unfortunately, everything was closed, so a review is only possible for the outdoor area. However, it has a lot of potential. An incredible view, a beautiful beer garden, and a large terrace are sure to be a great place to celebrate when the restaurant is open, but also to relax.

The location is beautiful and you have a lovely view. The service was good and very helpful. The food, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I don't need to go to a restaurant and pay a lot for cheap things from the supermarket. It's a shame, they could really turn it into a great restaurant with simple, homemade home-cooked meals.

The Kindelsberg, with its atmosphere and view, is highly recommended. The 2 stars for the food aren't due to the taste (I would rate taste as 4 stars), but rather the value for money. For me, the worst thing is going out to eat and not getting full. Unfortunately, that's what happened to everyone at our table, and we're perfectly normal eaters! Four average adults, and no one was full.

Absolutely. I've been there several times now, and I love the bright, friendly ambiance and atmosphere, as well as the team. The food is delicious. A great experience whatever the weather.

Ideal for a stop during a hike.

Great place to eat, drink a lot of Krombacher and get some physical activity by hiking before and after! Have visited several times and have been particularly beautiful since the renovation!

We stopped at the rest stop today. The ambience and the service were great, unfortunately our menu didn't work left much to be desired. On the Jägerschnitzel there was a small mushroom and two mushroom stalks and the chicken curry with fresh fruit was lukewarm and with broccoli, carrots and snow peas. A piece of pineapple, two Pieces of peach from a can of fruit salad...so tiny It's a shame...could have been done better. It was certainly our mistake not to have complained.

Delicious food, Krombacher beer on tap, and a fantastic view from the terrace. This place is always a delight when you're out hiking and stopping here for a break. I'd love to come back!

Went there a few days ago to stop for a coffee after an exhausting hike. Restaurant was quite full, so there is no cozy atmosphere after a hike. When we came in I immediately asked a waitress if there was still a way to get a table for two people. Answer: I'll check immediately. Just then, several seats behind us became available. However, the lady didn't notice this because she was initially serving people who were already taken care of. After waiting 10 minutes in the entrance area we left. By the way, the tables were still free! Conclusion: First of all, don't go there anymore!

We hiked there. Nature is very beautiful to look at. The little paths through the forest are fun. A decent slope for beginners. No problem for experienced people. We had coffee upstairs which was cheaper than expected. View is wonderful. Unfortunately, a lot of trees were felled, as is the case everywhere in Siegerland. The atmosphere in the restaurant is rustic but cozy. After the change of ownership we hiked up here. We waited 10 minutes because all the tables were supposedly full. The waitress walked past us 5 times without saying a word even though several tables were free. We just wanted a coffee...we turned around without a word and left. Won't be coming back either.

The location of the rest stop is very nice, of course on the mountain. The food isn't particularly good, it tastes like ready-made food from a package, so it's not very tasty but it's edible. The service is quite okay. The price of the food is also okay.

Unfortunately, I had a negative experience for the second time. On the first visit there were some dishes on the menu that weren't available, what we were served was only lukewarm to cold. Today there was no goulash again...the alternative order was simply forgotten. And no, not a word of apology... just a sorry, that can happen. NO, it shouldn't. Especially since the restaurant was busy, but everyone had already had their dishes and so there wasn't a big crowd at the time we ordered. Maybe the untrained waitresses, who seemed quite overwhelmed, forgot something, okay, but something like that shouldn't happen to the landlord. Well, fortunately there are other options for stopping off... you won't see us there again, and I can only advise against it... the atmosphere is great, the owner and staff unfortunately 5-

An absolutely fantastic place for a break! The Zum Kindelsberg rest stop is impressive across the board. As soon as you enter, you'll notice the friendly and inviting atmosphere, which will immediately make you forget the stress of the car journey. The culinary offering is outstanding - fresh, high-quality dishes that are prepared with a lot of love. We particularly recommend the regional specialties and the homemade potato salad, which tastes simply heavenly! The prices are more than fair for the quality on offer. The staff also deserve high praise: incredibly friendly, courteous and always keen to make the guests feel comfortable. In addition, there are immaculately clean sanitary facilities, which unfortunately is not a given these days. Whether for a short break or a hearty meal – the Zum Kindelsberg rest stop is the perfect place to recharge your batteries and continue your journey in peace. Unreservedly recommended! I'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed today. The schnitzels are small, dry and salty. The atmosphere is great and always worth a hike but the food today was nothing.

Absolute shame how this place was carelessly reduced to an "Ikea restaurant". Before, it was a place with soul, with culture, with old objects that testified to tradition from a generation long gone. It should be forbidden to place such traditional places in the hands of people who have no sense of culture and history. There is nothing left of the old objects, the beautiful wooden ceiling, the old, cozy curtains, the everyday objects. City whose cheap press plan lamps and generic decoration and colors. Whoever "restored" or commercialized this place and is hopefully reading this: they should be ashamed of themselves!

It was a wonderful meal (tender roast pork) that lived up to its name, everything was just right, the ambience and the service can no longer be beaten. A very big thank you for a really harmonious and great evening in the rest house at Kindelsberg. Thank you dear ones, no one will imitate you so quickly. PS.: Price-performance ratio is right. Opening times online and in real life are not the same. Let's say the menu is clear, the schnitzel is dry and kind of a chip shop, the ambience doesn't match the wonderful hiking experience around it. Price but ok Hospitable as an ogre.

A beautiful atmosphere. Despite the many customers, within a short time we had a waitress who showed us to the table. Notice that it was a super sunny, ice-cold day and we got a table quickly. Die Bedienung war nicht aufmerksam. Wir hatten mehrmals unsere Gläser leer und niemand kam um eine Bestellung auzunehmen. Die Bestellung für das Essen kam erst nachdem wir und mehrmals bemerkbar gemacht haben. Wir waren mit 13 Gästen dort. Bei der Abrechnung waren die in Rechnung gestellten Getränke nicht eindeutig nachvollziehbar. Möglicherweise haben wir mehr Getränke bezahlt als bestellt und serviert wurden. Sehr schade. Alles in allem eine sehr unzufriedenstellender Service.

Das Essen war zum Teil kalt. Desweiteren hat ein Kollege überhaupt kein Essen bekommen. Erst auf mehrmaliges Nachfragen wurde das Essen gebracht. Nicht zu empfehlen.

We were there with friends on Friday evening and were very impressed. The service was consistently friendly, the drinks arrived quickly, and the food was – as we know from Stahlberg – good. We'll definitely be back!

It was busy, but the service could be better

Wir waren mit Freunden zum Abendessen verabredet. Diese Lokalität werden wir in Zukunft meiden. Das Essen war unterste Schublade und nur schwer zu verdauen. Schlechter geht eigentlich nicht mehr. Das Schnitzel war viel zu trocken und in schlechtem Fett, genau wie die Pommes zubereitet. Der dazugehörige Salat nur vom billigsten Eisbergsalat in einer matschigen Soße. Und das alles zu einem hohen Preis. Abgesehen vom sehr schlechten Essen ist das Lokal wegen seiner Lautstärke und dem schlecht gelaunten Personal nicht zu empfehlen. Wirklich schade.

We stopped there during a hike and we were welcomed even though there was a lot going on. Unlike other guests, we got something to eat and drink. About the food: the potato soup was very tasty, but the portion should be a little larger and, as I know it, you should include some bread. We had dinner there with 6 people on the public holiday and had made reservations in advance. I thought it was a shame that I had specifically stated when making the reservation that it was a birthday, but unfortunately nothing was taken into account. I really like the atmosphere, but the tables are really close together. Food came quite quickly, was tasty and portions were OK. Unfortunately we had to wait for the cutlery. Unfortunately, I have to say that the service was a disaster. The waitress was really nice but it took forever to take orders and then it took forever to bring the drinks. The tables were sometimes not cleared and the tables were not even wiped down afterwards. Something definitely needs to change in terms of service. When we collected the money, we were charged too much, which unfortunately only became apparent when we got home. Annoying! The menu in the restaurant does not match the one on the homepage and there are also different prices. How come?! Unfortunately, it is really questionable whether we will come back again. Too bad about the tower.

Cafe on the mountain seven days a week

If you haven't been there yet, you've definitely missed something. A great end to a hike, partying, or simply eating and drinking well. The view is breathtaking. It is advisable to make a reservation here.

Ambiance is good. But that was it. Cake is from the freezer and costs €4. Pieces are different sizes. Long hair in cheesecake. When asked what types of cakes there are, the answer is: we are now defrosting an apple cake. Cups are out, so the coffee takes 30 minutes. Bockwurst tastes like it comes from a can. Very small portion of potato salad. Very disappointed. Won't come back. The climb isn't worth it.

We were there for the first time after the new tenant took over. Our fear that our “regular destination” might have changed too much has not come true. Although dripping wet, we were all warmly greeted, taken to the reserved table and served quickly. The food was plentiful and tasty (many dishes from the usual selection), and the atmosphere was very good. Every table was occupied later, and of course - as always - it was correspondingly loud. That’s part of it for us. The rooms have been beautifully renovated without the restaurant losing its rustic charm. Always worth a trip - hopefully next time the weather will be good enough so that we can enjoy the beautiful outdoor terrace and the wonderful view.

I don't want to make a statement about the quality of the food. We sat for over an hour with plates not cleared away. etc. The biggest joke at the end! On our bill there were dishes, desserts and drinks that we had ordered or distorted!

Not reachable by phone, only a recorded message asking you to state your reservation request and telephone number. Unfortunately no response, no call back throughout the day despite a new request a few hours later. Conclusion: Very bad service!

We celebrated my grandfather's 90th birthday and were not disappointed. We were here when we were little children and came from Berlin especially for this. Very nice modernization, friendly attentive staff & super delicious food. Any time

Seit meiner Kindheit kenne ich den Kindelsberg und war sehr gespannt, wie sich das Restaurant verändert hat, nachdem der Pächter gewechselt und es Anfang Juli wiedereröffnet hatte. Zunächst das Positive: nach einer umfassenden Renovierung sind wir sehr begeistert gewesen, wie man den Flair des alten Restaurants bewahrt, dabei aber ein tolles neues Ambiente geschaffen hat. Sehr gelungen... Nun zur Küche: wir bestellten Schnitzel mit Pommes - früher durchaus eins der vielen Aushängeschilder des Lokals. Die Pommes waren gut - das Schnitzel jedoch leider gar nicht. Qualität des Fleisches war nicht gut, die Panade labberich und nahezu geschmacklos. Da half auch leider daraufhin geordertes Salz und Pfeffer nicht mehr. Die Jäger-Waldpilzsauße kam aus der „Tüte“, enthielt keine frischen Pilze und war völlig überwürzt. Von schöner Jäger, geschweige denn Waldpilzsauce konnte da leider keine Rede sein. Als Ausflugsziel zum Wandern, wenn man nur ein kühles Getränk und Pommes oder Bockwurst möchte, nach wie vor zu empfehlen. Als Restaurant, wenn man nur zum Essen auf den Kindelsberg fahren möchte, leider nicht. Sehr schade…

We arrived at the Kindelsberg today with great expectations. Unfortunately we were disappointed again. There is no toilet paper in the sanitary facilities, the tables are not cleared even after more than an hour and the service is uncontrolled. All in all, not a nice experience. Hopefully the landlords will intervene urgently after this short period of time.

There's no need to say anything about the surroundings and location, just great. In my opinion, the gastronomy leaves a lot to be desired. The ambience after the renovation is certainly appealing, BUT: You arrive at 4 p.m. on a Sunday after a walk. A maximum of half of the dishes on the menu are available and the prices are almost outrageous, I say only €5 for a waffle with powdered sugar at the self-service counter ;))

Just bad and not recommended! We recently went to the Zum Kindelsberg excursion restaurant and I have to say that our experience was extremely disappointing. Despite our mothers' great anticipation of waffles with cherries, ice cream and cream. Our patience and that of our mothers (92 and 90 years old) was really tested here. Long waiting times: We had to wait well over an hour for our waffles and it was only because I complained and asked where the waffles were that anything moved at all. Mind you, we're talking about waffles, with ice cream from the chest, cream and cherries from the glass. Not about a 3-course meal or anything else time-consuming and honestly, making waffles really isn't rocket science. The restaurant wasn't full and there were waitresses there, but they seemed to be busy with other things than looking after their guests. Service: The service was inattentive and seemed overwhelmed even though there was nothing going on. When we asked when our waffles would arrive, we only got evasive answers, like the vanilla ice cream was out and whether we wanted another ice cream. What really annoyed us was that others who came after us got their waffles or other food far before us. But as the saying goes, “The fish always stinks at the head first.” The manager of the Kindelsberg restaurant should rethink his job, perhaps take a course on how to deal with complaints. I would like to praise the old Kindelsberg crew!! What good is a nice restaurant if you don't liven it up with friendliness and good service. Positives: The coffee and water came quickly. But it's no use as the waffles didn't arrive until over an hour later. The restaurant has been beautifully renovated, the toilets are excellent, especially for older people. If it weren't for these points, there would probably only have been one star, since the waffles still came after I complained. Conclusion: We were really hoping to spend a nice afternoon with our moms here, but the long waiting times, the way we were treated and especially our moms ruined the afternoon. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the Zum Kindelsberg excursion restaurant and we probably won't be coming back. But I don't think the tenant cares about that either.

What a great clean restaurant with great staff.

Family trip to Kindelsberg again after a long, long time: We really enjoyed being able to feast together again after so many years and enjoy the view. The food is absolutely ok and the service responds to all requests. Everything was great and very child friendly. The ambience is great. Greatly renovated and clean. In the playground there is still the cool "hamster wheel" that we had so much fun on even as children. And everything is in good condition, new and well maintained and clean. The only drawback: there should be more seating in the shade, under the trees or something, at the playground when the weather is really sunny. Otherwise nothing at all to complain about. We thought it was cool.

After the renovation, a bright gem on the Siegerland hiking trails. But can also be reached by car. The food is proven good with small changes and price increases. A hike from one of the villages around the Kindelsberg is also worthwhile if you just want to drink a good beer or just sit, eat and chat with good friends.

Today we ate under the new tenant on the Kindelsberg for the second time. The newly designed restaurant and the still wonderful view are something to be proud of. The service was also nice and attentive. But the food was again only at a mediocre tourist restaurant level. Plus, terribly loud dance music on the terrace. Doesn't fit here! I had a turkey schnitzel with fried potatoes (pork was out). The potatoes were mushy, saltless, barely fried and, on the outside, just a bag product. The schnitzel was also not seasoned and wasn't really cooked in the middle. You can also buy my wife's veggi schnitzel at Aldi. Very bland and bland. The waffle for dessert could have been from yesterday. Firm to the bite and refined with terrible spray cream. I had chocolate ice cream for dessert. Vanilla was out. 3 balls of chocolate ice cream in a glass. Without waffle, without cream, without decoration, without love. The roast pork and the cheese spaetzle were quite tasty. I could have mentioned the bland salads on my last visit. All in all, you can definitely stop here after a hike or bike tour, it's nice, but definitely not just because of the food. Taste is a matter of taste, but we won't be coming back anytime soon.

However, I can't agree with Milly's review at all! We were invited there for Mother's Day in 2023 and I have to say that in all the years before the new tenant I have never been served so badly and yes, almost unfriendly and the food didn't taste good either, after we were only given a day ticket anyway This was replaced again after we had already chosen it! We were all looking forward to the visit there and the food and were so disappointed that it is extremely doubtful whether we will ever be seen there again! Accordingly, we will also recommend the catering there or of course we will definitely not recommend it!!

The restaurant was very busy. I can only recommend reserving a table in advance and we were lucky and sat right in front of the regulars' table at the counter. The staff was very friendly and the food came very quickly and quickly. The food for the little one came first Then our two dishes, the drinks were very cold. Card payment was possible and the chef, who I met later, made a nice impression

After a beautiful climb to the Kindelsberg you reach this beautiful inn. Unfortunately the food isn't really tasty. The schnitzel was on the table in less than 5 minutes. Even the salad took longer. The schnitzel was probably finished and heated briefly in the deep fryer. At least that's how it tasted.
