Another Ambitious Sushi kitchen near Isartor. This pre-Afghanischen restaurant turned sushi kitchen looks very rundown from outside (they didn’t renovate a bit). Inside it feels like a disco bar with very dimmed light but the sushi bar is surrounded by very bright white light, creating a strange and spooky atmosphere in the night. Nothing on the menu is special and certainly has nothing to do with Geisha. Presentation is again very fancy (bonsai with liquid hydrogen) but only for the eyes not for the mouths. Vietnamese food is slightly better but my stir-fry beef is quite chewy. The Vietnamese somehow love to open Sushi restaurant in Munich, but honestly, the rice, the vinegar, the fish, the dressing and the nori sheet, nothing taste right and not a big difference to the sushi box sold in the supermarket. Many Japanese friends told me, for real sushi you need to visit Düsseldorf, in Munich there is nothing. Update: It didn’t survive eventually.

Summary: You're coming here for pretty, and slightly above average food. There's better value (and for sure, service) elsewhere. My recent time in Munich was a mixed bag (great attractions / tours, but my visit was literally rained on), and so is this restaurant. Admittedly, I could've rated a bit lower to a 2, but I decided to give some slack. More than anything, you're coming here for pretty dishes with less than functional (and in some instances impractical) purposes (one of the dishes that I got has sushi that is on an elevated plate, but the sushi rice is so sticky, that several times when trying to pull the edge pieces, the other side of the plate needed to be supported otherwise the plate would've simply fallen off). Their nigiri (sushi) needs significant work (rice portions are too much, along with being much too sticky and borderline gooey, but at least the fish is passable), the value proposition of this place is pretty much a miss (you're essentially paying a significant premium for 'pretty' food which tends to include excessive plating and/or a bunch of dry ice for a wow factor), and the service is lacking and apathetic (people shouldn't have to walk up to the server after their done and ready to settle the bill, but folks have to when they aren't tended to for almost 15 minutes despite the place being virtually empty; for my personal example, when I went to settle the bill, the cook, bartender, and server were all staring at their phones for who knows how many minutes at that point, and only when I walked up did the server switch gears to schmooze me in hopes for a higher tip, or whatever). I'd say give this place a pass unless you really want to pay an extreme premium for what they might consider as fine, "Japanese Authentic" food (slight hint, it actually isn't).

The food was very good, the service is always very courteous and polite. The restraunt is beautifully decorated and perfect for eating out. The sushi man knows his craft and decorates with dedication. Can recommend! <3

Fusion sushi cuisine near the Isartor. Dark dining room, very stylishly furnished, food good to very good, but with a bit too much show (dry ice), prices are rather high for what is on offer, service can still be improved. We waited quite a while for the tickets even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. By the way, the restaurant was initially called "Five by Geisha", don't get confused.

I am absolutely impressed with the taste every time! We recently had lunch at a restaurant. There were 5-8 dishes to choose from. Sushi, curry, bowl, fish… there was something for everyone. One star deducted for service and price.

Everything was excellent, except the Tempura and the Cod fish Main course they are dry and chewy. And as a tempura fan, i was expecting the authentic tempura which they don’t do the same way. But else everything we ordered was very mouth watering! Definitely will come back again. Very recommended!

Absolute Empfehlung! Das essen ist der Wahnsinn, top Qualität und unfassbar schön aufbereitet. Preislich etwas gehobener, mit gutem Service und einer atomsphärischen Location. Kann man wirklich nichts falsch machen!

Sehr sehr leckeres Essen und Cocktails! Wir hatten zwei verschiedene Crunchy Rolls und Inside Out Rolls. Auch die frittierten Garnelen als Vorspeise waren super! Die Cocktails waren ebenfalls sehr lecker und vor allem nicht so verwässert. Ich kann das Lokal nur empfehlen.

Kleines, aber sehr gutes Sushi-Restaurant. Außergewöhnliches Ambiente. Recht dunkel, aber stylish. Das Sushi war sehr lecker und spektakulär präsentiert. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Preislich etwas gehoben, aber gerechtfertigt.

Spontan gekommen, gerade noch einen Platz mittendrin bekommen. Das Ambiente hat mir gut gefallen, vor allem mit der Sushitheke gleich am Eingang. Ich mag es dunkel. Empfang war okay, aber nicht so, dass man sich sofort 100% willkommen fühlt. Die Vorspeise kam noch recht schnell, war geschmacklich gut, aber ziemlich spartanisch angerichtet. Bis zum Hauptgericht (1 x Kabeljau, 1 x Riesengarnelen) verging sage und schreibe weit über eine Stunde, während anderen Gästen, die nach uns gekommen waren, munter schön Sushi gereicht wurde. (Das Sushi sah übrigens gut aus und wird kreativ auf Körben gereicht, auf denen Trockeneis dampft.) Auf Nachfrage, wurde uns mittgeteilt, das irgendetwas noch auftauen müsse, so ganau habe ich das nicht verstanden. Die Qualität der Speisen war in Ordnung, aber nicht aussergewöhnlich. Die Portionen waren ziemlich klein. Für die gehobenen Preise kann man meiner Meinung nach wirklich mehr erwarten. Würde dennoch Mal wiederkommen um dem Sushi eine Chance zu geben. Wie gesagt, das hat schon ganz gut ausgesehen.

Das Essen ist wirklich sehr lecker, aber wir waren jetzt zwei mal dort und beide Male war der Service eine Katastrophe. Wir werden deshalb nicht wieder kommen.

Wir hatten Sushi und Cocktails und alles war sehr lecker! Der verarbeitete Fisch war von sehr guter Qualität. Das Restaurant ist raffiniert eingerichtet, eine Mischung aus modern und traditionell. Nur die Geräuschkulisse war unangenehm laut. Das Essen kann ich klar weiterempfehlen!

The quality of the fish is great and the portions are very generous. I had the tuna tartar as a starter- it was perfect. The grilled octopus melted in your mouth too. The sushi was presented in a very innovative way (I think they use dry ice) and again the quality was very very good. As it was Saturday evening the venue was very busy so our food took a while- however nothing too crazy in terms of waiting. The staff is perfect- very polite, considerate and even sweet! If you do go- ask your waiter for recommendations. I based my choice entirely on what the waiter recommended. Overall- one of the best sushi places in Municu

Zufällig habe ich das Lokal im Google Maps gefunden und habe es gleich ausprobiert. Als Japanerin kann ich richtig alles super genießen was ich bestellt habe. Sehr empfehlenswert The Five by Geisha👍

Suuper lecker!! Gute Portionsgröße, extrem sympathische humorvolle Bedienung! Man kann zudem bei der Zubereitung des Essens zusehen. Ein schönes nettes kleines Lokal, das definitiv zu empfehlen ist, wenn du authentische japanische Küche magst bzw. austesten möchtest!

Super leckeres authentisches japanisches Restaurant. Recht unbekannte (für mich) Gerichte, aber sehr schmackhaft. Der Service ist sehr freundlich. Sehr zu empfehlen The Five by Geisha. Ich würde allerdings vorher reservieren!
