Khao Thai Restaurant in Hannover

The restaurant looks very unassuming from the outside. The food and service are top-notch. Delicious dishes and generous portions. Highly recommended.

The ambiance is reminiscent of a snack bar, but the prices are more like restaurant prices. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. In some cases, the rice could perhaps be adjusted slightly to the amount of sauce. However, the value for money is good. The service was very friendly and attentive. We went there for the first time to try it out using the Schlemmerblock (a discount voucher booklet), but now that we know how delicious the food is, we will definitely come back even without it.

I received raw fish. Unfortunately, there was no compensation; they simply cooked the fish thoroughly. I didn't make a fuss, but it's only right that an apology should be more than just a simple "sorry." Furthermore, one of the fish dishes wasn't described very well on the menu, and when I asked, they couldn't explain the difference in taste between the two fish listed. Very disappointing. Incidentally, I was using a discount voucher booklet, and I won't be coming back. A complete failure.

The food tastes absolutely delicious and is very authentic! My favorite is the five pork skewers with spicy sauce! The waitresses are incredibly friendly and attentive. They anticipate your every need! The food arrives very quickly, and after my third visit and trying different dishes, I'm even more impressed each time!

Stir-Fried Basil with Crispy Pork. The pork was very hard and dry. 👎👎👎👎👎 I ordered stir-fried crispy pork with basil and a fried egg over rice. What I got was... pork that was hard, dry, and black, like it had been left out overnight and then re-fried. It wasn't even pork belly. The pork skin wasn't crispy, but rather tough. It had onions, eggplant, ginger, bamboo shoots, and beans, all mixed up. When I asked for the bill, the waitress asked, "Is the pork hard?" (She seemed to know.) I answered, "Yes, it was. It was very hard and dry. My gums hurt. And it wasn't pork belly either. What part of it was used?" She went silent. I ate it all not because it was delicious, but because I was so hungry I could only eat rice. No one asked me how the food was, and I didn't have time to order another dish. ((Crispy pork with basil and fried egg on rice + a small bottle of water, totaled 20.20€)) I've never felt so bad about spending money like this. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

This is the fifth time I've been to this restaurant – and I'm impressed every time! 🥢 Yesterday I was there with my girlfriend, and it was fantastic again: The food was fresh and incredibly delicious, the soup was top-notch as always, and the iced tea was simply perfect. 🍜🧋 The service is always friendly and attentive. You almost feel like you're at someone's home there – cozy, warm, and authentic. Highly recommended! I'll definitely be back.

We didn't like it there at all. The food was tasteless, portions were way too small, and the price was high. Overall, not recommended. Never again!!!

Not suitable for vegans; the dishes labeled as vegan (which are also advertised) are served with, for example, yogurt sauce. Furthermore, the price is completely unjustified. Lots of rice, five leaves of lettuce, two broccoli, and the tofu. No sauce or anything similar (except for the yogurt sauce on the salad).

Today I went out to dinner with my friends. First, I ordered a glass of Coke for myself, then I ordered two more glasses of Coke for my friends. The short-haired waitress misunderstood my advice and only brought us two Cokes. I simply said that one Coke was missing. She then said I hadn't ordered it. I explained to her that I had ordered for myself first and then for my friends. But she still claimed I was arguing with her. But I didn't say anything. She simply said I was arguing with her. It wasn't my fault in the first place—why should the customer be blamed in the end? The service was truly unfriendly.

I’m Thai and I travel a lot and always trying Thai restaurants around the world. I can honestly say this one is one of my favorites! When I visited Hanover, I came here 2 days in a row. I had the papaya salad which was absolutely delicious, super tasty, and authentic. The fried chicken and fried beef that came with the papaya salad were also so delicious! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I only wish I could have stayed longer in Hanover to try more of their dishes. This is now my new favorite Thai restaurant in Germany!

Good, authentic Thai with friendly service and a decently large portion! We were there for dinner today and were pleasantly surprised. After the papaya salad was a bit under-spiced, and we pointed this out, a selection of different chilies, some of them fresh, arrived immediately. We were then asked if we wanted the main course spicier. It arrived quickly and was well-seasoned. Both servers who served us were prompt and extremely friendly. We could just about eat the portions. The food was both authentic, fresh and delicious. The waitresses were all extremely polite and friendly. Prices were great, I highly recommend and enjoyed my experience.

Great Thai food, no complaints from me.

Stopped here for a quick lunch and it was so tasty. It’s 10.95 for the lunch offers, which are one main of a decent size and three small forgettable vegetable spring rolls to start. I asked for the beef green curry with lots of chillies. They put so many in it turned red. It was so spicy I was sweating and panting, which is exactly what I wanted. Very happy to find a place that can make the food spicy on request. Definitely going back.

The food tastes very good. The portion sizes, however, are designed for children/small women. A normal-sized adult (185cm, 82kg) won't be full with a starter and main course. It's just the same portion size as in the canteen at work, so you can last a few more hours.

We were here for the first time yesterday because of the Schlemmerblock (snack bar). The waitresses were all very friendly, and our order was served promptly. Because of the warm weather, we sat outside. It was okay because we weren't sitting directly on a main road; it's a pedestrian-only zone. The food was delicious. The fried rice noodles with crispy duck were a dream. The seafood No. 74 could have been a bit more flavorful, but the taste was delicious. Authentic, fresh ingredients, and the shrimp served without the guts were great, which isn't always the case. I give it four and a half stars.

We stopped by chance to eat at this Thai place without looking at the reviews and it really surprised me, I had the green curry and it was really good and plentiful. I recommend it.

Very nice place with delicious food, friendly staff, and overall good value for money. We came here for the first time because of the gourmet block. We initially ordered two cocktails, one of which was unfortunately incorrect. However, I received a new one within a very short time. A little later, they even offered us the incorrect cocktail for free, which I thought was super friendly. I was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer size of the menu, as there was so much to choose from. Also, the location, next to Primark, is unfortunately not the prettiest, although this is obviously not a factor in the restaurant.

Very tasty and authentic Thai food. We didn't eat the classic pad kraphao (Thai style) better, even in Bangkok. The staff is super friendly. There is a lunch menu on weekdays, which I can only recommend. Another tip: try the Thai coffee

The quality has decreased massively. When ordering, meat is simply forgotten even though it is ordered with meat. Vegetables do not taste fresh and crunchy but are overcooked. Vegetables are hardly used anymore. The shop considers a bit of cabbage and two thin slices of carrot to be a lot of fresh vegetables. Definitely not authentic Thai food. The competing stores in Hanover are significantly better.

This time was my second time here, i thought the food or service would be better, but big NO. The waitress was so rude to us and just threw the takeaway packaging, asking us to do it by ourselves. Doing it ourselves was not a problem, but throw something at your customer. It is just rude. The foods also didn't meet our expectations.

Can only recommend the food there. There you can find authentic Thai food like from home and they can make it extra spicy or milder if you wish. I'd love to go there. Apart from that, the service is very nice if you treat them nicely ;)

The three of us ate a local meal. The portion consisted of plenty of rice. The meat portion was tasty and rather small. The service was friendly. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I got home that I discovered that the receipt had been overcharged for one drink. Can happen. Unfortunately for me, going to the toilet was a terrible experience. I had never found such poor condition anywhere before. I don't want to say anything more about it at this point.

The food is delicious, but the service is very unfriendly. I ordered an extra fried egg and asked for it to be well done because my wife is pregnant. Then the egg wasn't cooked through and I kindly asked to cook it again until it was done, but the service asked very rudely!!

We were there on a weekday with the Schlemmerblock. We received friendly service, the food was good and the rooms were pretty. The toilet is a bit tricky due to its construction, but okay, I was a bit worried about my chair collapsing. What disappointed me is that I realized afterwards that we were not charged the happy hour price, but the full price. Since I didn't notice this on site, I couldn't address it and unfortunately there was no way to correct this error.

Oh, that was delicious. Best Thai I've been to so far. Very nicely presented, ambience harmonious, service wonderful. We had: Starter: Vegetarian spring rolls and coated pieces of chicken fillet. Main course: Duck fried noodles and chicken fried rice. Cocktail: Mai Tai (lit lime with brown sugar on top), Singapore Sling and Pina Colada. Everything is simply delicious and high quality. Portions are large and the price is completely reasonable, but not expensive. We'll definitely be back.

We were very satisfied with the spicy Tom Yum Gung, the Som Tam and the Khiaowan Mu Gai as well as the well-chilled Singha beers. The service, which was initially somewhat reserved, also became increasingly friendly

We weee 8 colleagues who went there after the Hannover fair. Extremely good and nice thai restaurant. Very friendly prices too. We paid 220€ for 8 people who had a starter, main course amd drinks. No space for a dessert. The food is excellent, nice selection, nice spicy when needed etc etc. The waiters speaks English which is great for Germany!!! Maybe an idea for competition to also learn English…??!! Last but not least, you can pay with card!!! Thank you for the nice dinner to the restaurant!!!!

Thai food always exceeds expectations. This restaurant is located near the city center and is reasonably priced and delicious. A highly recommended restaurant with great value for money

Authentic, traditional food. The service was very nice and the kitchen also tried to make sure we enjoyed it. Unfortunately, my friend isn't particularly keen on spiciness, so the chef came out of the kitchen and "saved" the dish for her. Totally nice :) The man of honor likes it!

1) Not a family friendly place at all. They were very very rude. If you have kids, you are certainly not welcomed here! They will go to the extent of trying to reach out to your kid as if they had all the authority to do so. It is not an attitude of 1 waitress having a bad day but rather the management and all staff! There are many many other Thai restaurants in Hannover and so do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. 2) MSG overdose! Don’t eat here. We are from the region and we know what authentic food should be. It doesn’t call for that much MSG!

The visit to the Thai restaurant was very disappointing. My salmon (daily special with salmon for €10.50) was not cooked through. I complained about it, then I received the same food again and unfortunately I discovered that the fish was still not cooked. I only wanted to pay half, but they only wanted to fob me off with a coffee. One star is still too many for such service. MINUS 6

One among the better Thai restaurants that I have been to. Ask the team to make the food a bit spicy and they make the food in the proper spicy way.

A day trip took me to this restaurant - my conclusion is: everything is just right there 👍super nice staff, the price-performance ratio was good and the food was excellent. Fantastic food. Everything was seasoned to the point. The dishes I tried were delicious and the portions were very large. I recommend Thai tea to fans - it's very good here. Mega beef curry. The atmosphere of the place is standard. The drinks are very good too.

It was my first time here, it's simply DIFFERENTLY tasty, the kitchen is quick and there's a lot to choose from. I liked the advice from Pani the best, she is extremely warm and totally friendly and you immediately feel very comfortable and in good hands. I'm not a decision-making person, but Pani felt like she had 10x time for 1000 questions and recommendations and was also super nice and patient. The restaurant is on my “I want to come here again” list :D You really have to try it!

In the photos you can see the vegetable plate t5 from the lunch table. Crunchy, fresh and well seasoned. I can only recommend. Service also very friendly. Gladly again - then into the evening.😋

1 star is too much. I wish there is a negative star. The food was ok but the waitress was very very very very rude. We really regret eating there. At first we were very patient with her because we didnt wanna make a scene even if she were very rude, but when we were paying, she calculated it and she said out loud, all people hearing that we are missing 9 euros. She told us to stay like we were criminals We told her to do it again, and with all attitude, she did. Turned out she calculated wrong. She never said sorry, kept in yelling and stayed rude the whole time. Food is ok but her attitude is really bad. Do your self a favor. Don't.

We have visited this new Thai restaurant several times. We enjoyed the food very much. It reminded us of our time in Thailand when we were at the markets and restaurants there. The owner and the waitress are very friendly and accommodating. If you wish, you can get Thai food with the country's typical level of spiciness. We particularly liked Pad Cha Talay (ผัดฉ่าทะเล) and Nam Tok Muh (น้ำตกหมู). We will definitely order these dishes again next time we visit. The restaurant is centrally located in the city center. After a shopping trip you can relax there and enjoy the food. For us, this restaurant is the restaurant with the best Thai food in Hanover and we love Thai food! 👍

We are thrilled and have been to this restaurant several times. The food is super tasty and very fresh. Price performance is good, the service staff are friendly and make an effort. It's not a run-of-the-mill Asian snack bar, there are authentic Thai dishes and drinks. Super tasty, we’ll be happy to come back! Last time we closed our eyes briefly and while sipping on the Thai Ice Tea we thought back to the wonderful time we had on a Thai island. Splendid

We were there on Saturday January 20, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. with three people. The restaurant was full. Not a nice greeting and unfriendly service. It's not the best Thai restaurant in Hanover. It didn't take long for the food to arrive, my friend gave her fried rice back because it tasted like old, very moist and not fresh fried rice with pork. They brought new ones and the taste is better than in my Asian homeland. Hope that the service from your own Asian people can be nicer and friendly 🙏🏻

I visited the restaurant with my son . Due to the layout of the room (it's like a hose towards the back), the ambience is nice but nothing extraordinary. The noise level was pleasant, you could hear the people at the other tables, but the volume wasn't intrusive. There were a lot of Asian people eating in the restaurant. The latter in particular is often a good sign. Given the weather conditions, the cold air that blew through the restaurant every time we entered and left was quite annoying. But I had no idea what could be changed about it🤷. The service was very nice, not intrusive and quite relaxed despite the many guests. The food was again a highlight, we both ordered rennet (with duck and with squid). The food looked very tasty when it was brought and that's how it tasted. Rennet, very coarse minced meat, spicy. Served with rice, cucumber slices and salad, it is a delight and so we ate very slowly and enjoyed it. The portion sizes were just right for both of us. My conclusion: delicious food with a pleasant atmosphere. It's certainly a lot better in warmer weather. Information about my recessions. All the information I write down here is a snapshot and completely subjective. When I visit a place a second time, my assessment may be completely different. If I find something that needs improvement and it has actually been implemented, I will of course also change my review. Please always remain polite.
