Surprise visit Sunday evening, plenty of parking, got a table thanks to Max's perfect organization, delicious food, really couldn't ask for more!

Unfortunately, they don't seem to need any new customers anymore. All the tables in the beer garden are only occupied by one or two people. We were turned away despite having free tables! We don't serve at those tables. The restaurant industry seems to be doing better than the press reports.

A very cozy brewery with atmosphere and really good food for a venue of this kind. Today: potato soup to start. Then roast beef with onions and fried potatoes and salad, beer-coachman's cutlet with fried potatoes, pork knuckle with mashed potatoes/sauerkraut, and bratwurst with mashed potatoes and carrots. Excellent value for money. The fresh Päffgen Kölsch can't be topped. We'd gladly go again.

The Kauler Hof has long since become a second home to us. The ambiance in the beautiful beer garden is unique (including inside, of course), and the food is always excellent (a definite must: the knuckle of pork and always the daily specials). Despite the crowds, the service remains fast, attentive, and professional—often even warm and chatty. You can tell the team really puts in the effort. The typical charm of a Köbe is simply part of the experience and always makes us smile. We love coming here regularly—a definite recommendation!

✨ Suggested review: We had reserved a table in the beer garden and received a confirmation email. Unfortunately, our reservation didn't match the schedule, and we had to sit in the dining room. It was very stuffy there due to the heat, and also very loud – a shame, because we were really looking forward to the evening in the beer garden. The reason given was a lack of staff, which is why half the beer garden remained closed – although the other half was completely full. On the positive side, I would like to highlight: The food was really delicious and the service friendly. Nevertheless, it was a disappointing evening for us, as we couldn't sit outside as planned, and we left immediately after dinner.

Best Kölsch and close to home 😉

We sat at an uncleared table for about half an hour until we were rudely informed that we weren't getting any more food.

Unfortunately, I waited over 20 minutes and still didn't get a drink, even though the waiter passed by several times. Perhaps this is only for regulars. A shame.

After a 50 km bike ride, we arrived seven minutes early in the hot weather and wanted to wait in the shade in the beer garden. We were very, very rudely shown off. That's it for us. We enjoyed our beer in the very friendly Schwalbennest. There are other options.

First, we arrived at opening time and were surprised to see that at 4 p.m. there were people queuing outside 😜 that must mean something 😜 since it's summer and there are limited tables outside, that's understandable 😎 we were served quickly and friendly and here's the kicker, the Kölsch was well chilled!!! The food was excellent and the portions were normal 👌 very good value for money 👍 what can I say, if you like traditional food, the Kauler Hof is the right place 👏 thanks to the team 👏👏👏

It was an unpleasant experience. I just don't want to be laughed at when I politely ask for a table when the sun is shining and the place is full.

Both the food - in my opinion the knuckle is the best on the menu, but simply every dish is excellent German cuisine - the service is also warm with Rhenish “first-name culture”! Very nice brewery in Bensberg with a beer garden. It's just quite loud in the dining room. This is fine for eating and drinking, but not so much for conversation. So if the weather is right, it's better to go to the beer garden.

On Sunday evening I was a guest at the Kauler Hof for my mother's 84th birthday. It was supposed to be a very nice evening with the family but unfortunately there was a waiter who ruined the evening with impossible comments where I always thought the guest was king. I have never experienced anything like that with this young man and in retrospect I recommend that he take further training where he learns how to deal with guests. Unfortunately, he didn't have the courage to apologize but suddenly left and sent his colleague to us who was excellent served where the waiter lacked the competence to do so. The greatest cheekiness was that he offered me the first name shortly before the escalation. I give the waiter the opportunity to apologize to me for his impossible behavior!

Very nice ambience, very friendly staff, and the consistently best home-style cuisine (in my opinion better than in all Cologne breweries) makes it one of our favorite restaurants. Plus a Päffgen Kölsch...what more could you want?!

Old half-timbered house, converted into a brewery atmosphere. Not possible without reservation - even during the week. But then… 😉 Very nice staff. The food was super tasty and plentiful. However, having a conversation in the hall is out of the question. The acoustics are really poor in this regard. (like in a brewery) But absolutely recommended for people who “just want to eat and drink something for a moment”!! By the way, there is also a beautiful beer garden.

Wir hatten das Kotlette natur und die Muscheln. Die Muscheln waren einfach nicht gut ! Schmeckten nur nach Gemüse, kein Wein kein Salz, kein Sud absolut öde ! Das Kotlett war ebenfalls maximal Durchschnitt ! Da gibt es viel viel Besseres !

As a vegetarian you don't need to come here. Salad is the only item according to the menu (perhaps ask beforehand whether there is bacon or something similar on it...). The mix of service styles (the woman was attentive and nice versus the "stuffy Köbes") didn't suit us and left us with a negative evening. Even in Cologne the Köbesse people are different.

Since the change in ownership, the food has been a lot better. Our favorites are the pork fillet + the cordon bleu, with very good meat quality. The salad sometimes lacks enough dressing. Price/performance is absolutely ok. We cannot confirm the negative reviews regarding the service in any way. We have been there several times and have always received prompt and friendly service. The "Brauhaus service" is known to be a bit rougher in tone. We were also treated always asked if we would like another beer. We are happy to finally have a good restaurant within walking distance in Bensberg.

The ambience is great - a great restaurant with historical significance. The food is perfect brewery fare with fresh ingredients. The crowning glory is the team around Toni and Andrea, who give everything to ensure the guests have a wonderful evening! And you have to manage that in the hustle and bustle! Absolutely great! A side tip: If you want to be on the safe side, you should make a reservation at a certain time, as the Päffgen is rightly very well attended!

30 minutes for 2 beers and then after an eternity the waiter Toni was rude and made me cry and just gave us 2 more and had to pay for them even though we didn't want any more because it was stale and only wanted 2 instead of 4

Leider war das vorhandene Personal inkl. Chef völlig überfordert, aufgrund von Personalmangel, weshalb nur eine kleine Anzahl an Tischen bedient wurde. Wir wollten eigentlich spontan nur ein paar Kölsch trinken, egal wo und wie aber das wurde nicht möglich gemacht. Sich zu anderen Personen an den Tisch zu setzen war ausdrücklich nicht gestattet. Wir werden nicht wiederkommen.

Super nice restaurant, price performance is right

The meal was really a huge portion and tasty, just a bit dry. The service is great, the waitresses are very nice and, above all, quick. Regarding the ambience, it was ok, it was just pretty loud. Depending on the space, entertainment can be a bit difficult.

There is very good cuisine here. A great beer garden and always good conversations. The cellars are typically Kölsch. A bit harsh, but very, very sweet and in a good mood. Clear recommendation to eat here.

Ein uriges Brauhaus zwischen Frankenforst und Bensberg. Leckeres Kölsch und rustikale Küche. Heute war Reibekuchentag. Ich hatte eine Portion mit Räucherlachs. Für meinen Geschmack waren die Reibekuchen eine Spur zu knusprig, aber immer noch um Klassen besser als das labbrige, fetttriefende Zeug, was man sonst oft bekommt. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Das Essen ist Mega geil! Auf sehr hohem Niveau! Bedienungen sehr freundlich und schnell. Es gibt absolut nichts auszusetzen. 👍🏼

Alles ist super, das Essen, das Personal. Der einzige Wermutstropfen ist die Akustik. Wenn der Laden gut gefüllt, ergibt sich eine extrem hohe Grundlautstärke, bei der man sich nur schwer unterhalten kann. Schallbrechende Elemente an den Wänden und Decken müssen her. Ansonsten Daumen hoch.

Eine Kölschkneipe mit Niveau. An dem Schall könnte nachgearbeitet werden- es ist viel zu laut. Wenn es noch etwas mehr Auswahl an vegetarischen Gerichten gäbe, würde ich mich auf die Besuche im Brauhaus noch mehr freuen.
