We had a great time at Katzengold in Wuppertal! Cozy vibes, friendly staff, and great drinks. Perfect spot to relax with a drink and enjoy the day. The building’s exterior is stunning! And sitting outside was ver nice. The luisenstrasse is great in general.

Great pub in the beautiful Luisenviertel. Small menu with delicious salads and dishes and a changing daily menu. Various beers and also delicious wines. We were there with friends, had a good chat and had a lovely evening.

The fool's gold. A nice, good, tasty place to meet for decades. To eat something, have a drink or even several. From small things to salads, fries, potato wedges, pasta and steak. The food menu is just the right size, there is something for everyone. I haven't missed anything with the drinks either. Coffee, tea, wine, beer, champagne, cocktails that are prepared correctly. Here you can see the craftsmanship. Fool's Gold is correspondingly well attended. Often there are no free seats and you have to wait a moment. I will always be happy to wait. A great place even in 2025 😀

Whether for breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake, delicious food is served at Katzengold. The benches are not comfortable, but that is the only drawback. The waitresses are friendly and great. I go there regularly and really like the store.

Every time I come to Wuppertal, I'm drawn to fool's gold. I feel comfortable here, the food is good and original, the prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and attentive. It's really casual. I always feel well received and served. If it bothers anyone that I, being over 60, should raise the average age, I'm sorry. I will still come back. Addendum 3 years later in December 2023: Class! Now the frog prince is also looking after Cinderella's pumps!

In my opinion, Katzengold is one of the best restaurants I know. The central location is extremely convenient and the food impresses every time. The dishes are simply fantastic, and a really delicious salad is often served with it. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fair and the atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and inviting. I always enjoy visiting Katzengold and would just like to say a big thank you for the excellent food. Keep it up!

When you enter, the restaurant is immediately characterized by its coziness 🥰 the atmosphere is relaxed, so you want to spend a long time here. We enjoyed the coffee and cake.

Interesting toilet area. Great food. But - waiters should keep their eating habits to themselves. Being vegan/vegetarian and not knowing what meat based menu options your restaurant is recommending yet working in it as a waiter is just unprofessional.

Quite many choices of drinks as well as great deserts. There are tables outside and waiting area. The service is nice and quick. It seems like it’s a quite popular place in between locals. Definitely recommend stopping by.

A brilliant restaurant with super friendly service. We can highly recommend our appetizer platter and nachos with cheese. There is only one star for ambience because the tables are very close together. There's nothing private then, but we'll definitely come back because the rest just fits 😉

When I got there I was greeted in a very unfriendly manner. I will never enter this store again. Sorry, that's not how you treat customers!

Really nice venue but it is massively unhelpful to arrive at 9:40, 20 minutes before the kitchen closes, and ask to order quickly only to be forgotten and told at five past ten that the kitchen is closed.

I've been to Katzengold several times and for me it's a solid café in the middle of the pack. Reasonable price-performance, service, no outliers in any direction. Until I was there for lunch last week. Service was good even though it was busy and hectic. I ordered salmon with potato gratin, which came in a reasonable time and was well seared - unfortunately only on the outside. Complaints were no problem, the service staff was friendly and understanding. The same salmon came back to me 10 minutes later and was so cooked that there was no life left in it. But I was so hungry by now that I just ate the edible sides, the gratin and the salad. When I paid, no one was surprised about the salmon, 90% of which remained on the plate. No one asked whether it tasted good or whether everything was OK. Completely lost opportunities to turn a negative experience into something positive. That's why I'll do without it in the future and look for an alternative when I'm in Wuppertal for work.

I can only recommend Fool's Gold to everyone - there is something for everyone

Katzengold is a great place to meet up for breakfast. The prices are balanced, the staff is super friendly. Drinks and food are not only delicious, but also impeccably fresh. The walk to the toilet is particularly entertaining, where not only the frog prince is waiting, but also a stolen and donated piece of steel suspension railway frame. There are choices for vegetarians and vegans. I can recommend all breakfast options. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not barrier-free and the parking situation is difficult. It is therefore advisable to travel by public transport.

It was a Google find and I'm very pleased. The food was delicious, the service was very friendly in what I thought was a quaint location. A lot of people think so, so it makes sense to reserve in advance. You can be lucky even if you have the time. What you should know if you arrive by car: The restaurant is in a residential area with one-way streets. This makes finding a parking space a bit challenging but doable. Very fast and great service (in English) for a tea time on the terrace in front of the coffee… The facade is very baroque and we felt like we were out of town. I gladly recommend!!

I can only rate the service here because the food wasn't served. When we entered the dining room, the waitress greeted us without making eye contact with just a "Everything is reserved here!" dumped - no hello, no smile. Unfortunately, you completely lose interest. Luckily, we received a very warm welcome in other restaurants in Wuppertal.

Bratkartoffeln waren leider sehr sehr aldente deswegen 1 Stern abzug, super netter Service und das Ambiente toll.

War während eines kurzen Wuppertal-Aufenthalts hier und mir hat die urige Atmosphäre hier sehr gut gefallen. Eine Kneipe/Restaurant wie in alten Zeiten. Für den Preis war die Portion (Kartoffelgratin mit Salat) ordentlich, der Service sympathisch. Und eine große Auswahl an Tages- und Wochenpresse gibt es auch.

Wir haben hier nur etwas getrunken. Daher kurz und knapp: Ein absolut empfehlenswertes Szenelokal im Luisenviertel mit angenehmen Publikum.
