Katzengold in Wuppertal

Katzengold is simply part of Wuppertal. The service is great, the food is great, and it's cozy too. I'll definitely be back.

Three of us had lunch there a few days ago. We had large dishes, no snacks, two from the blackboard and one from the à la carte menu, and it was really, really good. Friendly and attentive staff, fair prices, cozy, absolutely recommended!

Very tasty latte, creative, delicious cuisine, also vegan and vegetarian.

I didn't get any tea in the evening because the coffee machine was already off. I just wanted mint tea, and they couldn't manage to heat the water and add mint leaves. So I had to order water, which was Gerolsteiner, no less!

Unfortunately, the lemon slices in the tequila shot were too thin! Otherwise, I would have happily given it five stars.

Loved this cozy restaurant in Wuppertal.. I was mostly impressed by the professionality of the staff, the simplicity of the furniture, but mostly by the freshness of the dishes that we ordered. The vegetables in the side salads were so fresh you could even think they picked them few minutes from a nearby garden. The prices are ok, not cheap and not too expensive. Thank you. e

I was there two times. First time just on terrace drinking Primitivo, was perfect. Second time i go inside and i was surprised how big restaurant is. It was full ,but the waitress help us find a spot. We sit next to another people and it was no problem for them. The atmosphere was loud but positive, people smiling, taking and enjoying. Food was simple and delicious. Recommend 👍

A very nice restaurant, simply and comfortably furnished, without any frills, but still with plenty of charm. Friendly and prompt service, a good menu, including vegetarian options. Reservations are recommended on weekends, as it gets crowded. Overall, a great place!

Everything was nice, but the service was often not so great...

Best lunch ever. Unbeatable quality and price, but above all, the look. The staff is super dedicated and friendly. The conditions for the employees also seem to be excellent, which makes going there twice as enjoyable.

Went there again a couple of times recently and I gotta say it is still top of the line. This gets the full recommendation every time. 🙌🏻 One of the most well known cafés in Wuppertal Luisen quarter. Has been there for ages and constantly strives to improve. Great breakfast, lunch and dinner, especially the daily menu. Even cake is quite tasty and has some options. Nice staff and great atmosphere. It's rather full, as it is very popular with every age group, so reservations are helpful. Also daily menu and cakes sometimes are already gone for the day. Better be early. 😉 Full recommendation. Give it a try on any day.

It's a great place to enjoy a drink. We drank the " Tinto de verano" and it was tasty. You can sit outside but there's not a lot of place, so you have to come early like us or just have luck. In the inside there is a lot of place to sit. We will definitely come back.

I can highly recommend Katzengold: one of the most renowned restaurants in Elberfeld and, along with Kongo, the heart of Luisenstraße.

Delicious food, friendly service. The potato gratin, in particular, is superbly seasoned and delicious.

The food was delicious; the vegetarian millet-based dish with mushrooms was very original. My companion's spaghetti Bolognese was also lovingly prepared. The service was friendly but a bit slow.

Tomato in salad moldy, dips tasteless, meat very dry, salad with meat consists only of celery leaves, grilled vegetables only of tomatoes and onions, unfortunately a disappointment.

A MUST. The best restaurant ever. The atmosphere is unbeatable. The food and service are fantastic. Once you enter, everyone is on first-name terms, as if you've known each other forever.

We had a great time at Katzengold in Wuppertal! Cozy vibes, friendly staff, and great drinks. Perfect spot to relax with a drink and enjoy the day. The building’s exterior is stunning! And sitting outside was ver nice. The luisenstrasse is great in general.

Great pub in the beautiful Luisenviertel. Small menu with delicious salads and dishes and a changing daily menu. Various beers and also delicious wines. We were there with friends, had a good chat and had a lovely evening.

The fool's gold. A nice, good, tasty place to meet for decades. To eat something, have a drink or even several. From small things to salads, fries, potato wedges, pasta and steak. The food menu is just the right size, there is something for everyone. I haven't missed anything with the drinks either. Coffee, tea, wine, beer, champagne, cocktails that are prepared correctly. Here you can see the craftsmanship. Fool's Gold is correspondingly well attended. Often there are no free seats and you have to wait a moment. I will always be happy to wait. A great place even in 2025 😀

Whether for breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake, delicious food is served at Katzengold. The benches are not comfortable, but that is the only drawback. The waitresses are friendly and great. I go there regularly and really like the store.

Every time I come to Wuppertal, I'm drawn to fool's gold. I feel comfortable here, the food is good and original, the prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and attentive. It's really casual. I always feel well received and served. If it bothers anyone that I, being over 60, should raise the average age, I'm sorry. I will still come back. Addendum 3 years later in December 2023: Class! Now the frog prince is also looking after Cinderella's pumps!

In my opinion, Katzengold is one of the best restaurants I know. The central location is extremely convenient and the food impresses every time. The dishes are simply fantastic, and a really delicious salad is often served with it. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fair and the atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and inviting. I always enjoy visiting Katzengold and would just like to say a big thank you for the excellent food. Keep it up!

Interesting toilet area. Great food. But - waiters should keep their eating habits to themselves. Being vegan/vegetarian and not knowing what meat based menu options your restaurant is recommending yet working in it as a waiter is just unprofessional.

What can I say? One of my favorite meeting places in Wuppertal when I meet up with my girlfriend for hour-long conversations and want to drink and eat delicious food. A relaxed menu with super delicious, honest and varied dishes (also vegan/vegetarian) at fair prices

A brilliant restaurant with super friendly service. We can highly recommend our appetizer platter and nachos with cheese. There is only one star for ambience because the tables are very close together. There's nothing private then, but we'll definitely come back because the rest just fits 😉

Pretty good! Came here and had a nice meal, for 11,60 it was a very good amount of food too. Would recommend, even though it was busy and people were all over the place the waitresses were very nice with us.
