Kartoffelkiste im Europa-Center in Berlin

Man skulle tro at potetrestaurabten serverte potet, men nei. Vi var en gruppe, men fikk servert tørr pasta med litt gulasj - ikke nok til at det kunne regnes som saus til pastaen og med 3,5 kjøttbiter. Vegetar retten med potet så god ut, men besto kun av potet og dressing - ikke mais, bacon eller noe annet.

I didnt book as i was staying hotel nearby wanted try some german food dinner, this restraunt/pub inside centre nearby ideal location for me as i didnt like venture out too far. Very relaxing atmosphere week day , serve quickly food arrived quick too. I had pork schizel which was good , prices are reasonable overall very enjoyable evening.

Solid going home meal, did not disappoint this time either.

Firstly, maybe they’ve had a change of staff, but our waiter and the other staff members we encountered were friendly and professional. It’s a pretty large restaurant on the first floor of the Europa Centre. Whilst we made a reservation for our first visit, it wasn’t really necessary, and we just turned up the second time and there were loads of free tables. The menu is quite extensive (and available in multiple different languages, thankfully) and we ordered a Chicken Salad (excellent, according to my OH) and Currywurst with chips (pretty good, according to me) together with apple strudel and berry compote for dessers. Together with three beers, and including a decent tip for our friendly waiter, the bill came to 62 Euros, which we thought was pretty reasonable. We even decided to come here a second time in the week, rather than venturing further afield for something similarly ‘German’ elsewhere. It’s not in the most glamorous of locations, and it wouldn’t really be a choice for a quiet, romantic meal. But for us, the quality was good, the value was reasonable, and it suited us well.

Ich war insgesamt zweimal dort. Das Essen hat gut, aber nicht herausragend geschmeckt. Die Auswahl der Speisen ist groß und typisch deutsch/berlinerisch. Dort kann man für kleines Geld gut und günstig essen. Leider waren für mich persönlich die Portionen zu klein.

A total failure, waiter very nice restaurant clean. Insufficient food, where do I start? There were 8 people, fried potatoes not cooked through, schnitzel not cooked through, mashed potatoes not cooked through, "meatloaf" like water, fried onions like rubber and that "Sauce", water has more flavor Had liver with apple rings, zero taste! There is a lack of taste everywhere Things didn't look any better at the tables next door, I didn't see anyone eating 50 percent of their plate and their faces didn't look happy, sorry

Loved that they had Spanish (and English) menu option for customers. The food was very good, and the portion was more than enough for 1 person

We are well installed and well served. The Kaiserschmarrn is particularly good.

The potato box plate and the steak tasted good. Only the potatoes and the sauerkraut with the knuckle of pork weren't good.

Nice place not many people. The service could be better. Got a sprite without ice and lemon Payment was very bad, they could only accept cards with a chip. Although their machine ended up wireless, so we couldn't pay by card from the phone. So we had to pay in cash. And the waiter says that the price is without tip. He is very careful about it, so if you don't have enough money, he takes the rest as a tip. Such bad style!

For the past 4 years we have always enjoyed coming here to eat when we visit Berlin, even during Corona times! This year may have been the last time, change of ownership???

Unfortunately, only mediocre food and probably aimed at tourists. The fried potatoes were barely cooked through and rather rubbery. Actually incomprehensible when the name of the restaurant suggests that the man knows his way around potatoes. Others complained about the small portions. A pity.

We were there on Sunday May 19th, we are in Berlin 3 times every year and the potato crate is always part of it! Only this time it doesn't work. After we found a table, the waiter immediately asked us briskly if we wanted something to drink We hadn't even sat down yet!! After the drinks came without a menu, the waiter didn't show up anymore, cleared tables behind us, collected money from guests, but didn't even look at us anymore. I then went to the counter after more than 15 minutes and paid for the drinks in response from the waiter, only then I must have overlooked them. The whole thing is strange, we've eaten there over 10 times so far, it's never happened to us and the nice waiter from the other place wasn't there either! other new staff too? It's a shame that you don't get any response from the owner? I would appreciate an answer

The food here was GREAT. In America we have some German restaurants. In the 1830s my ancestors came to America from Germany/Prussia. This food was in line with the German restaurants in Cleveland, Ohio. The sign outside did say 6.90 Euros, that was sign was not correct, but for 15-20 Euros you can get a GREAT meal here.

I had the brewmaster schnitzel and it was perfect. It was not too thin, like the Austrians sometimes do. It was a huge portion, so I don’t recommend an appetizer. The potatoes were very good with it! If you want good typical German food, go to this restaurant.

Price-performance ratio is right. Good German cuisine at reasonable prices. Friendly service and no long waiting times. The atmosphere is great so far, except that in the front area you look directly into the Europa Center.

A top team. Even though the waiter and his colleague who continued to serve us after the shift change didn't have the deepest knowledge of German, everyone was super nice and quick and left no extra request unfulfilled! The food is rich and freshly cooked! The prices are reasonable for the location! Just fax in, thank you!!!

First of all, the service was really on point, very nice. The portion are enormous, the Schnitzel I had would've been enough for 2 people. Unfortunately it was a bit dry and the fried potatoes were partially still a bit raw on the inside. The fact that I had to add salt I personally find good, since there's salt/pepper on the table. Price/value is alright but a business lunch table would be appreciated.

Food of poor taste and quality. Arrived cold. Apart from that: ordering instructions not followed. Called the restaurant before ordering and asked if another side dish was possible. This was confirmed and yet the wrong insert was delivered. Not worth the money and time.

A nice restaurant that I discovered by chance many, many years ago. The kitchen is good, the food could be fresher prepared. The ambience is authentic, especially when you sit at the front entrance. Unfortunately, part of it is currently closed, which doesn't look good.

My last time. Mighty lumberjack steak was rather slender. Portions get smaller from time to time. Fried potatoes lukewarm, soft, like rubber. Obviously warmed up more often. Roasted onions with a very hard dough coating cold. Side salad consisted of about 2 tablespoons of coleslaw with a cherry tomato.

Delicious German dishes, especially the knuckle was nice and crispy. The service is supposed to be typical Berlinerich but the baiting snout doesn't quite fit.

Yes, Food was very tasty. But the service wasn't that good, the waiters walked past us three times without taking our order. We therefore had to wait 40 minutes for someone to take the order. But otherwise good restaurant👍

Always my pleasure. Nice location in the middle of Berlin on the Ku’damm. Large selection of food and drinks. Well prepared at moderate prices. The service from the waitress is also absolutely top notch. Not only friendly and humorous, but also very quick on the move.

Not entirely convincing. The schnitzels are quite good, but the bratwursts are a bit poor. The fries weren't entirely convincing either. The lumberjack steak was a little too well done. If you offer Kinser dishes, they should also be on the menu. So we didn't know how much they cost when we ordered. Service was very nice.

This establishment serves classic German cuisine. Everything is prepared simply, but with soul and at home. The beef is unfortunately tough. The interior is pleasant, there are many elderly visitors.

I was at the Europacenter because of the exhibition on the Romanesque Cafe. The potato box was a pleasant surprise. A completely “unhip” location in the style of old West Berlin. Very attentive and nice waiters. Fast service. Classic Berlin dishes. Very reasonable prices. Absolutely delicious. Reasonable portions.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The fries were good, the currywurst was ok. Unfortunately the sauce didn't taste that good. This works better at well-known currywurst stalls.

The food is rather hearty. There are few vegetarian and vegan dishes. The staff is friendly.

We had Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes and my wife had homemade kettle goulash The fried potatoes were decent, the schnitzel was rather average (you can actually get better quality in the chip shop) and the hunter's sauce made the hunter miss it! Far too thin and rather bland in taste. The kettle goulash was completely tasteless. It was served in a mason jar, which was probably intentional since the vegetables clearly indicated that the goulash had been boiled down... not a bad idea in itself, but it would have had to be seasoned properly after it was warmed up... Note... you can use some spices Do not use for cooking I hope that this review is seen more as a suggestion and not necessarily as a negative criticism! The service was good and attentive and the atmosphere was really good 👍

We picked out the potato box online as a restaurant before going to the cinema. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite as nice on site as shown on the homepage. There the restaurant seemed somehow more comfortable to us. We didn't find sitting there much better than in a fast food restaurant and it was also very warm. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food on offer was as described on the homepage. The food itself was really normally prepared and didn't taste great either. However, we had to admit that the prices corresponded to the food, so we can't complain. All in all, the visit here was OK but we will probably go somewhere else next time.

Nice restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and a beautiful view of the Bikini Haus and Budapester Straße. The service was very nice and attentive. The Zwickel beer was great and my fried potatoes were a dream 😍 It's really worth a visit and I'll be back soon... Kind regards

We were there on Saturday evening with 35 people on the occasion of Green Week. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our reserved tables. After just 20 minutes we got our food. Excellent taste! The currywurst as a sausage was delicious, but the curry sauce was anything but what you would expect from a curry sauce.

Super leckere Currywurst mit scharfer Sosse und Zwiebeln gegessen. Beim nächsten Berlinbesuch auf alle Fälle wieder.

Die Currywurst gibt es an so mancher Bude besser. Das Personal ist freundlich aber teilweise etwas ungepflegt. Ich muss da nicht nochmal hin.

Ein Teil des Servicepersonals konsumierte permanent Alkohol und konnte nur mit zittrigen Händen den Gästen Getränke einschenken. Das machte einen schlechten Eindruck.

Amazing waiter, and the dishes was so enormous. We had grilled Schweine Haxe and Wiener Schnitzel. Both the best we ever had. Also best Sauerkraut ever. Can only recommend this place.

Genervtes Personal was sehr unorientiert umher lief . Bestellung wurde widerwillig aufgenommen . Essen war dann letztendlich auch nix Besonderes . Dafür das es Kartoffelkiste heisst hat man anscheinend gar keine Ahnung von Kartoffelgerichten .Noch nie so schlechte Bratkartoffeln und Folienkartoffeln gegessen .

Ich habe mit meinem Sohn 15 min gewartet um eine Bestellung aufnehmen zu können und wurde permanent von dem älteren Kellner ignoriert. Keinerlei Gastfreundlichkeit vorhanden.

Kultiges Restaurant mit deutscher Küche im Europacenter im Schatten der Gedächtniskirche. Es gibt klassische Schnitzel und weil wir uns im Westen Berlins befinden, bekommen Gäste, die ein Jägerschnitzel bestellen, auch den Klassiker mit Rahmchampions und keine Jagdwurst in schnöder Panade. Die Karte hat aber weit mehr zu bieten, eben auch typische Berliner Küche, die wiederum mehr zu bieten hat als Currywurst, die seinerzeit sogar den niedersächsischen Kanzler begeistert hat. Doch auch diesen Klassiker finden die Gäste. Urig ist das Ambiente, das am ehesten an eine typische Bierkneipe erinnert. Die Wände sind mit Emaille-Bildern vollgehängt, die Werbung für bekannte und weniger bekannte Brauereien machen. Der Service kommt mit Berliner Schnauze daher - ein wenig schnodderig im Ton, dafür ausgesprochen höflich in der Wortwahl. Das alles rundet den kultigen Auftritt ab und macht Lust auf einen weiteren Besuch.

Habe in der Kartoffelkiste die Bulette mit Bratkartoffeln gegessen. Die Bulette war gut aber die Bratkartoffeln waren nicht knusprig, teilweise nicht richtig durch und quasi ungewürzt. In einem Restaurant, welches sich Kartoffelkiste nennt, hätte ich wirklich richtig gute Bratkartoffeln erwartet. Preis ok/Portion eher klein/Ambiente sehr hübsch/Service ok

We were a group of 6 people. Ordered various dishes. The food arrived fast, drinks as well. They have a 1L portion of beer. They accept cash and carry. Huge portions. The service was also excellent. The prices were also very decent.
