We went there for something to eat late on Sunday afternoon after visiting the zoo. There was good home-style cooking as well as seasonal offerings, such as asparagus. The service was very attentive and friendly. The food overall was very tasty. Nobody goes home hungry here.

The restaurant looks quite cozy with its rustic ambience. The menu had a lot of different choices to offer, which I always find very good! The food came very quickly. I chose the cheeseburger, which was delicious, but unfortunately the meat was a bit cold. The fries were great. The waiter who served us seemed a bit unusual to me. Perhaps it was due to slurred pronunciation - perhaps a speech impediment or simply mumbling. Overall, his demeanor was somewhat irritating without being unfriendly. We wanted to go out for something to eat after our visit to the zoo on a Friday evening (3/28/25) and discovered the potato crate. We got a table straight away without a reservation. The service was super friendly and on the ball! The menu offers a lot of choice, but given the name we expected more potato creations than the standard ones you get. Opinions were somewhat divided when it came to eating. The Franconian sausages were quite good, but the pineapple in the sauerkraut takes some getting used to. In the case of the meatball with fried potato and fried egg, the egg could perhaps have used half a minute to a minute longer in the pan. The egg white was still very runny. But the fried potatoes were amazing, which made up for the point about the egg. The real negative point (and therefore only 3 stars overall) are the toilets. They were very grubby and even dirty that evening. The urinals were partly wet and very sticky on the floor. It may be that guests of the Europacenter visit the location, but win WC should not look like this. According to my partner, it was probably similar for the ladies. The beautiful wooden floor in the restaurant looks great, but is also very sticky. Maybe this should be sanded and coated. Too bad. Our conclusion: if you can get the toilets under control, it's a good place

Were with a large group. Opinions were divided over the meal. However, the service was very nice and attentive. Waiting times were short.

We came by without a table reservation, were warmly greeted and were allowed to choose a free table. Super friendly service and very good cuisine (Matjes Hausfraustyle and cheeseburgers). We will definitely stop by here again on our next trip to Berlin.

100% recommendation I was there with my girlfriend. We received a friendly welcome. The waiter brought us our menus. He asked us what we'd like to drink. It didn't take long for our order to arrive. We ordered Königsberger Klopse (a kind of meatball) and goose meatballs. These didn't take long either. The food was, excuse the language, incredibly delicious 😋 😋 😋 Price-performance ratio is simply phenomenal. I would also like to give it more stars.

The service was great, the food had gotten a little worse now (new chef?) but still good. The menu has been thinned out a bit and the prices have increased, while the portions seem to have become smaller. It's actually a shame when the usual dish is no longer available. But big praise for the service. Always nice, friendly, with fun... that's what makes the restaurant so charming. The rest will definitely be brought back into order!

Es werden mehrere Biere frisch vom Fass angeboten. Hier wird jeder satt. Die Speisen sind groß und preiswert. Kleine Abstriche muss man bei der Qualität hinnehmen. Die Bratkartoffeln zum Wiener Schnitzel Brauhausart waren lätschig, nicht knusprig. Zum Eisbein gibt es nur mittelscharfen und keinen extra scharfen Senf aus dem Gastropäckchen. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich.

45 minutes waited for one stupid stir fry vegetables dish … the restaurant was not even half full …

Went to the restaurant at 3:30 p.m. Unfortunately there was only a reduced menu because of the green week, a bit incomprehensible, but we were able to get a beef roulade that wasn't on the menu. For €25.30 there was a mini roulade, a blob of red cabbage, but lots of potatoes in a watery sauce. Sorry, but I knew that better. After some food was returned from the next table, this potato box is no longer recommended for us. Too bad

I was highly disappointed with the steak I ordered. I have never sent a dish back to the kitchen but this was the first time I actually wanted to do that. I ordered a medium fried steak and it came in well done, to the point it felt like I was chewing a tire. Apart from that it was unseasoned. As I've said, highly disappointing Thankfully the waiter was very nice. Hence why I'm giving 2 stars and not 1

So by Berlin standards this is really a bad shed. If you have to wait 1 hour for a Jägerschnitzel with fries, there is definitely something wrong. Sure, I would understand if you didn't have enough staff. However, if 5 tables that came after you got their food before you, everything went wrong. I was glad that I had a good seat thanks to the other people I was there with. Otherwise you wouldn't have been able to eat your own food. I'll never go to the store again. Every Rantz Dönner is better and faster than you.

All tables empty, no reserved signs on the tables. Were sent away, everything was supposedly reserved... Service incompetent and fat, the waiter can barely move and is super rude! Never again!! That was the first and last time we were there?

We went to the potato box for a rehearsal dinner today because we wanted to eat here for a birthday in February. I had brawn with fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were a disaster - cold, unseasoned and soggy. The brawn was barely visible under all the tartar sauce and the side salad was drowned in an indefinable dressing. After we expressed criticism, we received an espresso on the house as an apology - many thanks to the nice waiter and also the 3 points for the service. We will definitely choose another restaurant for our birthday.

We were there with a larger family. Most were satisfied. The currywurst was very good. The “rehearsal dinner” before Schatzi’s birthday. It was a good idea, so we won't embarrass ourselves. Two gussets and a root beer....were good. A beef roulade and a pork schnitzel: The roulade was ok in the first layer, then tough. The potatoes with it were good, the red cabbage was mushy and sour. The schnitzel was out of the deep fryer and the fried potatoes must have felt like I did when I just missed the bus and had to wait for the next one... cold and bored. All in all, a tourist flophouse in which the service is correspondingly... a shame, because I know the location from days long past, much better 🙅

In Jan 2024 we had our best grilled Schweine Haxe and Wiener Schnitzel ever at a German restaurant. Tender and moist. Food was perfect. But in Jan 2025 we had the worst ever. It was dry, and tough. Staff was told it was that bad, but did nothing to correct it. So sad that their quality can change that much. Can sadly no loger recommend this place.

Today, January 2, 2025, we ordered a duck for the New Year. The kale was oversalted, the red cabbage was too sober and the dumplings were warmed up in the microwave and were hard on the outside. We know duck dish differently! The girls from Berlin

It was very crowded here, but we were still able to get a table for three. Unfortunately, it took a while to order (more than 30 minutes), but the food made up for it. My rump steak with garlic was just the way I like it and the fries were good too.

This place used to be average but now it’s just plain bad., Food arrives lukewarm at best. Sausages are tasteless, sauerkraut OK but cold and the homemade mashed potatoes have little flavor, but then it’s hard to tell when they’re served below room temperature. I’ve been coming to this place for years and this was my last meal there. My advice, even though the location is excellent, and the atmosphere is quite nice, is to stay away, there are many better restaurants than this one in the neighborhood..

Was there for the third time now and today was really bad. The map didn't match the one from the internet either. The food wasn't that good and none of us liked it. The service was friendly and you were brought to your table quickly. Drinking went quickly and the order was generally fixed. The food was rather bland, it just tasted bland and there was no real spice. My children, who usually love schnitzel, completely spurned it. So a rest area restaurant can do better.

We booked as a company Christmas party for 12 people. We all placed our orders and started celebrating. When the first dishes reached the table, disillusionment set in. In addition, the entire plate was full of red cabbage water. My dish was called “venison goulash”. It was similar with my colleagues. My wife's steak was ordered well done and then served at the wrong table and it ended up being bloody. And to top it all off, a 0.4 liter beer was poured into our secretary's back. My conclusion: This business is unable to do proper work for larger numbers of people ❗❗❗ This store is simply underground, clearly not a recommendation. Unfortunately I have to give one star so that I can even rate it, actually 0 stars.

Today was the last time for us. We have been eating here often for more than 2 years, but now the chef seems to have changed. The beer sauce, which is a real treat with the knuckle, is now made from cheap flour and the sauerkraut is out of the jar and is then showered with a ton of laurel and allspice grains that the guest can then scoop out. The dumplings also remind me a lot of ALDI and it seems to be too much to heat them fully. I recommend dumplings from the refrigerated shelf, a ready-made knuckle, a jar of sauerkraut and flour at ALDI for 6.97 rather than the 18.80 for this.

We were there as a team and were looking forward to delicious food and were also very hungry. But the food wasn't very good, 4 people also got the wrong food, after changing the dishes three times they still didn't get the right one. The reason was supposedly temporary cooks who couldn't speak German.

We were here for the Christmas party with colleagues. Had reserved a table for 10 people. After we ordered our food we had to wait for almost 2 hours for it. The colleagues who had ordered the potato roulade had to order something else last minute because the potato roulade was out (at this point we had already been waiting 90 minutes for the food). Of course, we asked the staff several times while we were waiting how long the food would last and were repeatedly put off. Unfortunately, the staff did not proactively approach us and communicate with us. The usual inquiries in restaurants as to whether there were any additional drinks or something similar did not take place. When the food finally arrived... let a colleague return her pumpkin soup. This was inedible. Another colleague had a fridge-cold steak returned, for which she ended up paying 17 euros. I also ordered the steak with a baked potato. For 20 euros the portion was inadequate and only tasted average. The remaining colleagues weren't particularly enthusiastic about their food (Königsberger Klopse, Berlin liver, potato soup), but after waiting for almost 2 hours, hunger drove them through. As a greeting from the kitchen for the inconvenience, we were given a coffee cup saucer with prepackaged cookies. There was no discount or a drink on the house. We will never enter this restaurant again nor will we recommend it to others. I have no idea how the restaurant can survive, probably only through walk-in customers from the Europa Center. However, the view of the bikini house was positive :) PS: The men's toilet was dirty and unkempt at 5 p.m.

Yesterday we went to the potato crate again. We can recommend the food (hock of pork and potato box plate) with a clear conscience. When we came in we were very politely informed that we would have to wait about 30 minutes for the food. If I order something delicious, I can't seriously expect it to be at the table in 10 minutes. For us from Pinneberg, the potato crate has been a MUST for years when we are in Berlin. A big thumbs up to the staff!!!

Muy bien. Está situado en un CC per una vez dentro del local no se nota nada. Muy buen ambiente, servicio amable, comida clásica alemana "de toda la vida" y eso es un gran cumplido. En tiempos de fusión, de precios exorbitados, este es un oasis de los que quedan muy pocos en las zonas turísticas dé las grandes capitales. Cocina sin florituras pero muy honesta, reconfortante y muy bien de precio. Ha nacido un clásico para mis viajes a Berlin.

My friend wasn't allowed to order a side dish because she only ordered soup. I had a main course but wasn't allowed to order mashed potatoes. Two large drinks, two soups and a main course, but no side dish possible, even though it was on the menu. After a discussion, “a big exception” was made!

Unfortunately not recommended. The baked potato with quark was a disgrace for the price of 11.00 euros. Unfortunately, the “potato box plate” for just under 19.00 euros wasn’t any better. The store is an imposition in every respect, if you are visiting Berlin and end up here, you have done everything wrong that you could do wrong. The shop was nicely decorated but that was it, every mistake that was possible was made in the rest. Starting with the drinks, an Irish coffee and a Diesel were ordered, the Irish coffee had too much alcohol in it and the Diesel had far too little cola. We continued with an abomination advertised as "pumpkin cream soup", more accurately called expensive beby porridge with pieces, since either they forgot to filter it out or this step was deliberately omitted in order to save work and costs, of course at the guest's expense. For the main course I had grilled pork knuckle with black beer sauce, which was reminiscent of stale water in terms of color, consistency and taste. I was now looking forward to the sauerkraut because I was expecting that at least the kitchen would have the ability to warm up canned food, but even then I was bitterly disappointed, the sauerkraut was totally over salted and lacked any of the sweet note that comes with raisins or apples Track. The other side dish was the parsley potatoes, again these were as wrong as they could have been. Vi var en gruppe, men fikk servert tørr pasta med litt gulasj - ikke nok til at det kunne regnes som saus til pastaen og med 3,5 kjøttbiter. Vegetar retten med potet så god ut, men besto kun av potet og dressing - ikke mais, bacon eller noe annet.
