Brauhaus Südstern in Berlin

A cozy beer garden with delicious beer and good food. The furniture is a bit dated, but the location is excellent.

The food was rather mediocre, but the atmosphere in the beer garden and the good beer made up for it. Service was friendly and fast.

Veal schnitzel was just okay. I think the charm of this place is during social hour.

Delicious, home-brewed beer in a lovely brewery setting. Service was a bit slow, but the food arrived extremely quickly after ordering and was very good. We had cheese spaetzle, brewery goulash, and the vegan mushroom pan. We'd be happy to come back.

Ive played there for the Fette de lá music and the Beer is awesome! The nachos were insane, the portions are generous and the crew is specially gentle and in a good mood, even through the place was crowded and they were eventually getting tired. Great place! I'd definitely get back there eventually

An unexpected direct hit after warming up in the Destille pub: suddenly there it was, like an oasis of green hop on the edge of the equally green Hasenheide. The alcohol level was already in the cozy upper floor, the mood somewhere between Sunday and after work. Inside: gleaming copper kettles, home-brewed happiness and service staff with patience. We sipped, chatted and philosophized. After all, beer makes you smart. Next to us were a couple of ladies who suspiciously often had to go to the loo, but well, everyone has their hobbies. Outside on the sidewalk, Neukölln's quiet shadow economy lurks within 50 meters of the dealer panorama. But inside, it's an ideal world of beer, malt, hops and water.

Beautiful beer garden in the greenery on Hasenheide. Delicious beer. The Dunkle Stern is highly recommended. The acoustics inside are problematic. When full, it's loud.

We would have expected a better beer from a brewery restaurant. Our beer was brought to our table, without a head of foam, with little fizzyness, and comparatively expensive. What a shame!

The fact that it is not possible to convert the bread served with a sausage salad into fried potatoes, but instead requires ordering them for an additional €6.40, even though the menu states that they cost €4.50 as a side dish, is unimaginably inflexible and outrageous.

Very pleasant atmosphere right on Hasenheide. The beer is naturally cloudy, and the halloumi salad is fresh and delicious.

The price-performance ratio is really good. This place is also recommended for larger groups – the team is dedicated and attentive to their guests.

The Südstern was our spot for the cup final, so it was naturally packed and a bit of a mess for the waiters – but they handled it brilliantly! The food was good and so was the beer, although I think €4.80 for a 0.4l is a bit too much – even though it's home-brewed. The pilsner supposedly had 5.8% alcohol, which raised a few questions after the 9th pint. But hey, it was delicious!

Yesterday, we won the DFB Cup here with VfB Stuttgart. The brewery was overrun by a horde of party-loving Swabians. Obviously, no one here expected that. Kudos to the team for the turnout. Next time we're in Berlin, we'll definitely stop by for a beer. The beer is delicious, and the food was good, too.

Food and service were ok. When paying we apparently had to justify why we didn't tip, the food was too mediocre for that. It's a pity that you treat customers this way, we may not come back here.

Small and cozy with a fast service

Delicious food and prompt and friendly service. Until we wanted to pay the bill and they asked how much tip we wanted to give. We do not participate in this, it was clearly not appreciated and was rudely pointed out. Kindness doesn't cost money, but apparently one has to purchase it at this place. In some countries, tipping is even a great insult and a lack of respect!! Everyone should know this for themselves and be able to decide freely!

The small beer garden is surprisingly beautiful and quiet, it feels like you're not in Berlin. It's also very pretty inside. The food (we had schnitzel) and drink is also very tasty.

The food was very tasty, but quite a bit for the price. We had the crusty roast (very thin slice with 2 small pieces of crust packed on top) with two dumplings and far too much red cabbage. We were a relatively small group of 10 people and it wasn't overly crowded, but in my opinion the service outside was pretty rare

I love the location. The garden is great, the beer is good, and the food is good German food. Service can be very off at times but whatever. It's Germany. Enjoy sitting in the sun and having a nice knödl.

I ordered a gnocchi with salmon. the gnocchi came without salmon but the taste was okay so I thought it was fine. When paying, the waitress commented that we didn't tip enough. I thought this was really strange and that is why I am posting the bad review.

We had a small table at the edge that wasn't that comfortable. In general there was a strange atmosphere... at the entrance in the area there was a larger celebration (group) with a DJ Then a few normal guests And then an area that was almost empty where people were watching football on TV. It took a while for our order to be taken. We ordered a coke and a beer. That was okay. Then we ordered “homemade cheese spaetzle with fried onions and a small salad”. The food came quickly but it was definitely not homemade spaetzle. They were simply baked in a plate WITHOUT spices. The cheese was just greasy and not the right kind. Normally, spaetzle is not baked. But given in a pan. I could have made this meal at home. Finished spaetzle, cheese on top and in the oven. The salad was cut way too big so it wasn't edible. The dressing was too little and didn't taste good either. We were really looking forward to the evening and were disappointed. When we pointed out the absolutely bad spaetzle to the waitress, she just said that she had already told the chef that, but he didn't want to change anything and had too much pride. And that we should order something different next time. I don't think I'll be back.

Company party... Beer doesn't go beyond a beer, at least the Pilsner. I don't understand what people keep saying about craft beer. Service tried but not eager. Food was bottom category, red cabbage completely unseasoned and watery. The potato salad also lacked flavor and could have been improved significantly with a little salt, broth or good vinegar and chives. The Leberkäs has probably been sitting in the cold chafings all afternoon and then it doesn't help to turn on the burners half an hour before the buffet opens. All in all very sobering and a waste of money. Either celebrate somewhere else or donate the money to a charity.

Were there for the first time. Nice ambience, delicious food, nice service. I can highly recommend it.

Yesterday, after our sister's funeral, the subsequent celebration took place in the Südstern brewery. Everything that was agreed upon in the previous preliminary discussion was implemented reliably. Around 150 guests were offered soups (one of which was also partially gluten-free at our request) and cakes in buffet form (so we didn't try the dishes otherwise offered). The drinks agreed in the price were delivered reliably and quickly or could be ordered at the counter. The brewed beer was also very, very tasty. With a lot of empathy, our sister's condolence books and pictures were put up and our wishes were responded to very sensitively. The staff was wonderful! We can only recommend the Brauhaus Südstern. Many thanks to the whole team!

Very good schnitzels and beer! The waiter was super nice and spoke perfect Spanish to us, she made our visit so much better, we will definitely come back.

I have never in my life been made to feel embarrassed for not tipping. The waitress behaved like an unpresentable person both when we ordered the food (we had the crazy idea of ​​ordering a glass of tap water with the beer) and when we paid. They eat it with their bread, I don't plan to return. The food was average (they forgot to write down one of the dishes and they brought it later), the beer was good and the atmosphere was good, things as they are.

We just wanted to go to the brewery for a quick beer, but were then convinced by the ambience and the friendly and courteous service to enjoy one or two more beers. At some point we became hungry and were spoiled for choice. Since we couldn't or didn't want to decide, we asked for a potpourri from the entire menu. The chef went to see us personally and prepared a plate for us that was second to none. It was outstanding. The price/performance ratio is right. The ladies in service do their job with dedication and a professionalism that is unfortunately becoming increasingly rare.

Went there at the beginning of September with a small group and really enjoyed our time (6 hours 😊). The food was very tasty. Whether Maultaschen, tarte flambée, schnitzel or meatloaf with fried potatoes. All types of beer were also very well received. My favorite was the Pale Ale 👍 The service was also very good. We will come back ☺️

Day 1 The hamburger wasn’t nice in my opinion. The Potatos were undercooked. Day 2 We went back for round 2 and the schnitzel was amazing. So i changed food from 1 star to 4.

No. 1 brewery in Berlin. Orangutan Ale is always available in late summer. Good cause included. Fits!

It's ok so far, but unfortunately the food isn't that great. Addendum: July 2nd, 2023 dirty tables outside in the beer garden 😰😰 no salt on the table for seasoning. But was otherwise satisfied. Today 🤭 Today 9.05. Eating no better schnitzel from the freezer and overcooked fried potatoes but I didn't feel sick afterwards!!!! I wanted to eat there on August 5th, 2024, there wasn't much going on but I had to wait a long time until the young waitress came. I went to the inn across the street again without eating.

Berlin is always worth a trip, and then in such a beautiful place, good food, great friendly service, what more could you want.

The nachos are unique, the service is very friendly, the other guests are colorful and sweet from young to ancient.

Unfortunately that's the only way... we ate a veal schnitzel and roast pork and despite the hefty price it only tasted like "system catering". The schnitzel was too dry and the red cabbage on the roast pork was so overcooked that it was barely edible. In general, there was hardly any spice/flavor in both dishes, so we helped a lot with salt and pepper. It's a shame, we had hoped for more...

I give the food (liver cheese, fried potatoes and a salad garnish) a grade of 3-. I was shocked by the taste of the home-brewed beer “Heller Stern”. Sour and overall not good! In order to "cross-compare" my impression, I looked at other reviews of the "Bright Star" in the international beer rating app Untappd. Read for yourself! For me, the beer “Heller Stern” belongs to the food category. Therefore unfortunately only one star.

Schnitzel was tasty and good, that's what the stars are for. But the side dishes weren't that great. The potato salad tasted strange and boring, was hardly seasoned or seasoned, and the fried potatoes were a bit soggy. All the side dishes were cut extremely unevenly, everything from "tiny and overcooked" to "half a potato, still firm on the inside". Service was only mediocre, we waited on the terrace for 15 minutes. Then we went in and let them know. It was considered normal there that the waitress didn't keep an eye on the front terrace because there was so much going on in the back.

30minutes and guy did not even bring the menu. But attented 2 tables that came after us, just because they were locals. Do not recommend go there. Poor service

Charging more for drinks and food than what is on the menu is not only cheeky...

I've never experienced anything like that. Reservations for 10 were not received after repeated calls, orders were misunderstood and some were delivered incorrectly and the billing at the end was a complete disaster. We wanted to pay separately and after a 30-minute payment process, some people paid too much or would have had to pay a lot more due to calculation errors on the receipt.

Food very good. Unfortunately the service staff took a long time to arrive. If you have to wait 15 minutes for your drinks, it's not so nice.

The Südstern brewery offers fresh, drinkable beer. It is brewed in house and guests sit next door to the brewing pans. The wheat beer is particularly recommended. The interior design is rustic and the entire space exudes coziness and beer tranquility. In addition, the service is friendly and the prices are home-style. I'd love to come back here.

A nice place to drink a good beer. Far away from all the “craft beer stuff”, there is a local beer here that tastes refreshingly different. The cuisine is hearty but of high quality. In summer, the small beer garden, which protrudes into Hasenheide Park, is a really nice place to linger.

Man kann dort gut und lange sitzen - egal ob vorne oder hinten zur Hasenheide. Ab und an gibt es sogar Livemusik. Lang lebe das Brauhaus Südstern!

War leider nur so durchwachsen. Die Einrichtung ist schon etwas runter, das Essen nichts besonderes (Convenience). Aber leider war auch das Bier nicht gerade der Hit. Der Service und die Preise waren okay. Es gibt definitiv noch Luft nach oben.

Besonders das dunkle Bier ist sehr malzig und hat mich überzeugt. Der helle Stern ist erfrischend und auch gut. Wir hatten Lammhaxe, Grillhaxe vom Schwein, Krustenbraten und Leberkäse bestellt. Nur der Leberkäse war ziemlich angebrannt. Die Preise sind in Ordnung, nicht übermäßig.

Alles perfekt. Das Bier ist ein Genuss. Ich hatte das Helle, hat mir sehr gut geschmeckt. Das Essen ist lecker und zu sehr fairen Preisen zu haben. Der Service freundlich und flink.
