Super nice, friendly and attentive service staff. Food came quite quickly even though the restaurant was full. The food was really great, except for the devil in the schnitzel.

Unfortunately, I cannot understand the many good reviews regarding the breakfast. It was ok, but nothing more. The scrambled eggs were still too runny for my taste, and the selection of sausage and cheese wasn't that huge either. The hot cocoa with chocolate was an imposition - it tasted like absolutely nothing. Maybe you should use milk and real cocoa powder... Otherwise it was ok though. The service could also be worked on - we weren't even asked if everything was ok... On the subject of ambience - unfortunately very narrow and therefore very loud... Unfortunately for me no more than 2 stars. Sorry!

*Disappointing Christmas dinner in the potato house – a stressful experience!* Unfortunately, our Christmas dinner at the potato house was a big disappointment. First we had to queue for almost 20 minutes to finally get something from the buffet. When we stood at the buffet, half of the dishes were empty because the staff apparently couldn't keep up with the refills. The food was also cold and tough, so much so that you could almost throw it away. The situation was made even more awkward as there was a long line behind us and there was hardly any room to move - you almost felt rushed as people were literally "glued" to you. The drinks were forgotten or not even brought, which made the whole thing even more frustrating. The dessert table was completely empty, and there weren't even croquettes or fresh potatoes in the KARTOFFELhaus - that's really incomprehensible! The buffet layout was also very inconvenient: dessert came first, then soup, followed by meat, salads and antipasti. The side dishes were right at the end - and anyone who wanted to get them had to go through the whole line again to get to the sauces. That made the whole thing very confusing and stressful. It was hardly possible to enjoy the meal in peace because there was always someone waiting in line and you couldn't eat together at the same table. After we had just started the second plate, after about an hour we were told that we should vacate the place soon because the next guests were already waiting. The whole thing seemed like pure profiteering. It's a real shame because the potato house was once known for its good quality and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the concept has apparently changed significantly. We definitely won't eat here again.

There were 12 of us there for dinner, 5 of us ordered the dish of goose breast or duck breast with a side dish of red cabbage, potato gratin or dumplings. Unfortunately, everyone's red cabbage and potato gratin tasted very much like they were fried. The dish costs around 35 euros, so I ask myself the question, isn't the food tasted by the chef before it goes out? Everyone else was happy with their food and the service was okay too.

Christmas party, from 6 p.m. Service friendly and accommodating. My barbecue burger wasn't as hot as I would have liked. Another friend felt the same way. Still okay. Large portion. Drinks okay. Gin Tonic €8.10, small glass. Beer delicious. Overall recommended. Sat up on the gallery. This means that many guests are slow, as there are also toilet entrances in the background. Paper was missing from these and some of it was refilled later.

I was at the potato house with my friend and her mother today. Her mother ordered the tequila schnitzel, with side dishes that included red beans. Unfortunately, the meal had nothing to do with a good tequila schnitzel, as the salsa sauce tasted worse than from a net tube, there were no red beans and there was still a hint of tequila. My friend had a Capri pasta bake. The sauce was watery, too few vegetables, too many noodles. I could have made it myself at home within 5 minutes. I had the pirate steak. The meat was okay, but the sauce was, in plain English, crappy for me too. The food was also expensive and I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat here.

There were three of us in the potato house. Our three different dishes were very tasty. We will definitely come back next time we visit Göttingen. A big compliment to the kitchen and service.

We were here for dinner. Despite booking at 8:30 p.m., a little later, we were told that we would have to wait 45 minutes. We then waited 1.20 hours for our food. Guests who arrived long after us got their food before us. When we asked about the condition, she apologized and bought us a drink. We thought that was really nice. The food was average, nothing special and it was very cold in the store. There are several reasons for us not to come back.

Food very good. Despite pre-ordering, it took almost 2 hours for the food to arrive. Noise level very high, normal conversation hardly possible. The very good food and the nice service are convincing.

Where do I start? So an extremely loud atmosphere, extremely uncomfortable hard wooden chairs. My food, absolutely unseasoned, cheap ingredients, carelessly prepared and cooked quickly without any spark of love for the job. A manageable amount, I ate something afterwards in another house. At some point drinks were no longer offered, but I didn't feel like it anymore. I won't be seen here again.

Food was very tasty. Service was okay, we had to wait a long time for the order and the food (15 minutes until we could order, then an hour after arrival the food was only given to us: first 2 people. Then 15 minutes later the remaining people)

Burger patties are obviously not homemade (thin and dry), sauces are generally not good, and for a place called Kartoffelhaus, the potatoes are not special I have to say! Portions are fairly big. The service quality depends on the shift; sometimes smiling, friendly and polite, but other times grumpy.

I was excited to visit the restaurant as the reviews and pictures seemed very appealing. I apologize in advance for form, but not for content. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet my expectations at all. The staff was very friendly, so you don't need to say any negative things about it, just positive ones. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was below average and did not correspond to the price level. Price wise before the starter (a tomato soup) okay. At €6.90 you have nothing to complain about. The taste was also okay, but soups are traditionally served warm. This was then complained about and it went back to the kitchen. A bowl came back, which was only 3/4 full, BUT warm. Now let’s come to the “highlight”… the main course. I ordered the “Devil’s Schnitzel”. In terms of price, this was also okay at €13.90... at first. I got a cold, bland, palm-sized breaded patch of skin. It had nothing in common with a schnitzel, which was supposed to be spicy. It was served with croquettes. If you like your croquettes warm and crispy, you shouldn't order these. These were very soft and you may have seen the oven from a distance. To then charge €13.90 for this is, let’s say, special. As a “small” apology, there was an aperitif on the house at the end. Nice, but also appropriate. As already described at the beginning, the waiters were very nice and accommodating.

I would love to eat here again at any time. Simply delicious! The vegetables are extremely deliciously seasoned.

Today there were four of us in the potato house and we had main courses and a starter platter. The food itself was delicious and the employees were friendly. However, very shortly after eating, three of us had severe indigestion and stomach cramps, which we can't explain other than by eating there. For this reason, we have decided not to go to the potato house again until further notice.

So I can only recommend the brunch on Sunday, which is plentiful and worth the money

We were there two weekends in a row, each time with several people to celebrate something. You don't see such friendliness from the staff very often anymore. You get the impression that even though there is a lot of work, the entire team enjoys their work and everyone enjoys working there, despite the physically difficult work. The food was very, very good! Everyone enjoyed it excellently. It was also very nice that we were allowed to bring our own cake to our celebration and get help with serving it! Thank you very much for these 2 lovely afternoons. Our only downer was that our dog, who is a tried and tested restaurant visitor and knows how to behave very well, wasn't allowed to come with us. However, we are aware that this dog ban would be provoked by people who have caused complaints with dogs that are not suitable for restaurants. But: We would love to come back!

Fried potatoes with bacon and onions, 2 slices of onion, bacon, the ham was so small that it couldn't be pricked with a fork, very greasy and potatoes were not fried, not at all crispy. The service staff blamed the new cook and me said: you get more of the burger!" I can't recommend the shop.

The menu is very extensive and the food is delicious, homemade and plentiful. Unfortunately, a supplement was forgotten but handed in later. The service was very friendly and personable. Potato pancakes with applesauce are highly recommended. Duck with broccoli and potato gratin is super delicious.

Despite a reservation, we got a super tight table in the passage even though several tables were still free. Expensive food was brought when we ordered. As compensation there were 2 espressos that we didn't actually want. The wrong meal was €6 more expensive so we basically paid for the espresso ourselves. Food itself was ok. Cleanliness was also ok. Unfortunately for us there won't be a second time

The food was good, the service was friendly, but unfortunately it took 75 minutes to arrive. Unfortunately that was really far too long. We were sitting on the mezzanine floor and therefore in constant traffic, which wasn't so nice either.

Diese Woche war ich gleich zwei mal dort. 1. Abend (Freitag, Laden richtig voll, unser Besuch mit 7 Leuten): Es wurde auf eine längere Zeit für Essen (40 Min.) in puncto Wartezeit hingewiesen. Das Personal (oben) war voll auf zack, 1 junge Dame (aus Hessen) und 1 Herr, sehr freundlich. Es wurde alles gut serviert und regelmässig nach Getränkewünschen gefragt, obwohl der Laden echt voll war (große Gruppe im gleichen Raum). Note: 1 Essen: Schnitzel Hawai, echt lecker, keine Beanstandungen. 2. Abend (Samstag, Laden auch offensichtlich voll): Wir haben mit 3 Personen insgesamt 90 Minuten aufs Essen gewartet. Einmal hat meine Bekannte sogar nachgefragt, ob etwas schiefgegangen sei. Das Personal (2 junge Damen) wirkte unerfahren und noch nicht gut organisiert, war aber freundlich. Nach Getränkewünschen wurde leider nicht gefragt zwischendurch. Schade. Essen: Kartoffelburger. Wie immer lecker, Pommes vielleicht etwas zu salzig, aber ok. Note: 3 - Ihr seht, vom Essen war alles gut. Das Personal war an zwei unterschiedlichen Tagen auch total unterschiedlich , was sehr schade ist. Insgesamt Licht und Schatten. Waited 2 hours for our orders and no food so we left - had a good meal quickly served at Saray Grillhaus nearby. If the restaurant is busy and understaffed they should not be taking bookings.

I was there twice this week. 1st evening (Friday, store really full): It was pointed out that there was a longer time for food (40 minutes) in terms of waiting time. The staff (upstairs) were on point, 1 young lady and 1 gentleman, very friendly. Everything was served well and we regularly asked for drinks, even though the place was really full (large group in the same room). Grade: 1 Food: Schnitzel Hawai, really tasty, no complaints. 2nd evening (Saturday, shop also obviously full): Three of us waited a total of 90 minutes for food. Once my friend even asked if something had gone wrong. The staff (2 young ladies) seemed inexperienced and not yet well organized, but were friendly. Unfortunately, drinks were not asked in between. Too bad. Food: Potato burgers. Delicious as always, fries maybe a little too salty, but ok. Grade: 3 - You see, everything about the food was good. The staff was totally different on two different days, which is a shame. Overall light and shadow. The photo shows the potato burger.

Had to wait over an hour for our food. The schnitzel came with a side salad. This was not brought to the meal but the waitress noted that it would be served later. The salad didn't come afterwards either. No waitress asked if the food was OK or if there were any requests. When we were finished and asked for the bill, we mentioned the missing salad. This was unprofessionally accepted by the waitress with the addition that you can say something next time. The salad wasn't taken off the bill either. So an absolute failure. Service failed. We're definitely never coming back.

Went for brunch, the selection was gigantic and top quality, the service was visibly reaching its limits but it was almost completely full, so it was a little noisy but that's just the way it is, the only real drawback would be the price 26€ per person is quite steep, but you get it what was offered. Clear recommendation from me

Very tasty and rich dishes. Despite the restaurant being full and a bit of a wait for drinks, the service was friendly and carried out accurately. The Schnitzel Holstein is highly recommended. The other rooms on the 1st floor are also good, so you can still get a place despite the high number of guests. (September 2024)

After our intense Bundesliga game against Göttingen, in which we managed to stay in the league, we fortified ourselves perfectly in the potato house in Göttingen. Just like in the game where we had to fight hard, the food here really challenged us - in the best way! The dishes are just as varied and surprising as the tactics of our opponents: from hearty potato dishes that are as filling as our victory, to sophisticated side dishes that have thrilled us like the best passes on the pitch. In the end, we left the potato house just as happy as we left the hall after winning the game - with a big grin. A culinary victory across the board!

Mein Erwartungshorizont war eher niedrig, also angepasst an das Preisniveau der Speisekarte. Wir hatten für eine größere Gruppe reserviert und wurden im Flur platziert. Die Stühle waren hart und unbequem. Man sollte meinen, das ein Restaurant, welches Kartoffelhaus heißt wenigstens Pommes kann, weit gefehlt. Pommes labbrig und offensichtlich viel zu kurz in der Fritteuse. Jägerschnitzel mit schlechter Jägersauce aus dem 25 Liter Eimer. Hirtensalat mit Standarddressing weder frisch, noch genießbar. Einzig der Service war stets freundlich und sehr bemüht, deshalb 2 Sterne.

Good solid German cuisine. If you have a larger group you have to wait a bit for the food but then everything comes at the same time. This is of course very good. You can sit very nicely in the beer garden and the prices are absolutely fair.

I was there last night and ordered duck. Unfortunately the meat was extremely tough, I couldn't cut it with the knife, even when I got a sharper knife. Others at our table had ordered pork schnitzel, where the meat was toppled due to incorrect storage. Unfortunately not recommended.

People with walking disabilities are allowed to use the barrier-free toilet in the neighboring Hans im Glück. Friendly reception and nice service there too. Thank you everyone!

Unfortunately, the fiery schnitzel was almost tasteless and had a better paprika sauce - so no reason to eat there. What bothered me most was that when a restaurant is called Potato House, you should expect the potato products to be fresh and authentic and not from a frozen bag. That's a shame. The potato burger is probably the highlight of the restaurant.

The last visit was a birthday that was great to celebrate there. The Sunday brunch costs a little more but you can also eat your way through the buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Particularly worth mentioning is that there is a warm lunch standard. Meat, vegetables and e.g. Lartoffelgratin. The dessert is varied, from jello pudding to semolina pudding to pancakes and much more. it's worth it!!!!

We ordered mushrooms and 2 main dishes: 1 grilled plate and 1 seafood pasta. The taste of the food is good. However, they don’t remember what I ordered. I want the pasta spicy but they bring it as original flavor. We sit in garden, it’s actually quite dark and not enough light even to see the food to eat but they didn’t turn on the light next to our table. In general, service isn’t not so good but food is good. I’m not sure if we will come back.

We were passing through and were looking for a cozy restaurant. We sat outside, unfortunately it smelled like toilet and sewage the whole time. The service took forever with every drink order. My fillet was simply fried all the way through and was very dry, like the rest of the food. There really wasn't anything special in the package.

We were 7 people. We were assigned a great place. (extra room) The whole restaurant is very nicely decorated. The welcome from the service was nice and courteous. We ordered various dishes from the menu Meat, vegan, potatoes, pasta and casseroles. All dishes were served at the same time. We all enjoyed it very much and the dishes were at a good temperature. The toilet rooms can also be highlighted, everything is clean. The men had deodorant and hairspray. A little more attention from the service would be desirable. Oh well: the prices are very well adjusted for the good quality of the food. We'd love to come back. In Hamburg they say, shoot.

Spontaneously got a small table. But be sure to reserve. Very nice staff, even though it was packed, you didn't have to wait long for your food. It was freshly prepared, very tasty and the price-performance ratio was completely okay for today. Due to the size of the restaurant, it was very loud and bustling downstairs, but a bit more relaxed upstairs.
