3 day trip in Göttingen. We had to go there. I can highly recommend it. Especially the potato burger😋 Service was also very nice.

Unfortunately, the fiery schnitzel was almost tasteless and had a better paprika sauce - so no reason to eat there. What bothered me most was that when a restaurant is called Potato House, you should expect the potato products to be fresh and authentic and not from a frozen bag. That's a shame. The potato burger is probably the highlight of the restaurant.

Very attentive and careful, friendly service. Thank you very much! Food was a variety of penne, tasted really good and was plentiful. Quiet beer garden and great toilets. People with walking disabilities are allowed to use the barrier-free toilet in the neighboring Hans im Glück. Friendly reception and nice service there too. Thank you everyone!

The last visit was a birthday that was great to celebrate there. The Sunday brunch costs a little more but you can also eat your way through the buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Particularly worth mentioning is that there is a warm lunch standard. Meat, vegetables and e.g. Lartoffelgratin. The dessert is varied, from jello pudding to semolina pudding to pancakes and much more. it's worth it!!!!

We ordered mushrooms and 2 main dishes: 1 grilled plate and 1 seafood pasta. The taste of the food is good. However, they don’t remember what I ordered. I want the pasta spicy but they bring it as original flavor. We sit in garden, it’s actually quite dark and not enough light even to see the food to eat but they didn’t turn on the light next to our table. In general, service isn’t not so good but food is good. I’m not sure if we will come back.

We were passing through and were looking for a cozy restaurant. We sat outside, unfortunately it smelled like toilet and sewage the whole time. The service took forever with every drink order. My fillet was simply fried all the way through and was very dry, like the rest of the food. There really wasn't anything special in the package.

We were 7 people. We were assigned a great place. (extra room) The whole restaurant is very nicely decorated. The welcome from the service was nice and courteous. We ordered various dishes from the menu Meat, vegan, potatoes, pasta and casseroles. All dishes were served at the same time. We all enjoyed it very much and the dishes were at a good temperature. The toilet rooms can also be highlighted, everything is clean. The men had deodorant and hairspray. A little more attention from the service would be desirable. Oh well: the prices are very well adjusted for the good quality of the food. We'd love to come back. In Hamburg they say, shoot.

We dined with two adults and two children. The children's meals, a small schnitzel with fries and ketchup were completely ok. The potato gratin also worked. Sitting outside is pleasant. I was looking forward to my asparagus with butter and boiled potatoes - unfortunately it was a disappointment. 5 sticks of asparagus and hard small potatoes that were obviously not freshly cooked but came from a jar: hard consistency, no taste. Good boiled potatoes are not a “filling side dish”, but rather a great food. If you offer asparagus with fresh potatoes for 20 Eu, you should fulfill your offer. I complained about the potatoes and received them back a moment later, a little softer: obviously briefly warmed up in a broth. In the end I paid 20 Eu for 5 sticks of asparagus. I would have expected more from a potato house - I won't eat there again.

The food was ok. The portions were large. The service was very friendly. Soap and disinfectant dispensers were either empty or broken.

The restaurant is located on a slightly larger but quite quiet side street. The staff is very friendly and really on the ball, you didn't have to wait long for anything. The food is super tasty and the portions are reasonable for the price. The potato burger with beef patty between two potato pancakes plus a side salad and fries for €14.90 was really impressive and was extremely tasty. The restaurant is definitely recommended👍

Nice clientele, good food at fair prices and really nice, clean toilets. Drinks and menu also really diverse. The potato burger is particularly recommended. It should be noted that there is a lack of parking facilities.

If you are very hungry and don't want to spend a lot of money, this is exactly the right thing for you. It was very crowded, lots of students and families, so it was quite loud. If the weather is good you could sit outside.

Absolutely not recommended… I have by far never eaten so badly… the chef must have been at the May rally or there was no chef present… it had nothing to do with cooking skills or at least solid craftsmanship… the waitress probably knew why She didn't ask if everything was okay, she would have gotten an honest answer...what exactly was the complaint about... 1. Devil's schnitzel...it was probably a pre-breaded, frozen schnitzel that was simply fried...it was hard and tough...and the breading just fell off, the coquettes were most likely from a bag and the devil's sauce was Letscho from a jar...a Total failure...if I had served my guests such a schnitzel, I would have been ashamed... I had Leberkäse with fried potatoes and a fried egg... the best thing was the egg, the fried potatoes weren't cooked through... the aldente was flattering and the Leberkäse didn't taste fresh... so it was a disaster... I'm not a cook myself, but I could have done it 100 times better and it would have been It was delicious...that's really a waste of food...so I'll never go there again, absolutely not recommended...one star is still too much...and dear "chef or owner" it's definitely not Michelin either *

Salad with some dressing, well seasoned Steak as ordered, perfect medium rare, lightly seasoned, well roasted. Pieces of herb butter, just the right amount. Side dishes tasted great, consistencies perfect, very well seasoned with SZ and pepper. Fried potatoes very crispy and potato-like inside. Then you deserve a 10 out of 10?! (There should be a very small deduction somewhere, since no sharp steak knife was explicitly included for the rump steak and a knife that looked vaguely like that on the cutlery plate was taken by another guest who had a casserole 😄. But after the exchange, that was it not really any sharper either). I'll come back again and again... :-)

Overall, the fried potatoes were very pale and you can see from the fried potatoes that it's not the surfaces that are brown, but the tips. They probably weren't in a pan but under the salamander. The onions remained virtually raw. They weren't seasoned either. This seemed like a loveless ready meal. For a potato dish in a "potato house", and the prices are not cheap, it's disappointing. Service and ambience were fine.

Everything was great, we were there for the second time. Once completely unexpectedly and once for breakfast brunch on a holiday. There was plenty of food there. Service was very friendly and attentive, everything was nice, clean, simply wonderful. We'll definitely be back ☺️💕

Das Kartoffelhaus ist sehr zu empfehlen. Die Karte bietet eine große Auswahl an Gerichten. Es gibt auch sehr viele vegetarische Gerichte. Jeder hatte ein anderes Gericht, und alle waren zufrieden.

Mega delicious vegan food. I wasn't expecting a completely vegan page on the menu. And then also totally varied and different dishes. I chose the vegan Königsberger Klopse, which is highly recommended. And the coffee offerings are now also available with oat milk.

I chose this restaurant while passing through by bike to have something to eat. Since I'm vegan, I was really happy to see that this restaurant has a full page of vegan entrees on the menu! In addition, the contact with the employees was very friendly and I also saw that every new guest who came in was also greeted very friendly. I had Seitan fillet pieces with champions in a herb sauce with Röstis and almond broccoli. The food was very tasty and the portion was good! The price was also reasonable for the quality and ambience and not too expensive! I would love to come back here when I visit Göttingen again!

It was our first visit and it was great! Although we only had a reservation at 1 p.m., we were able to sit down at our table despite arriving early. Excellent! The waitresses were very attentive and extremely friendly! Gladly again.

A nice restaurant in itself. Problem: If you order a "medium" pork steak, it should be stated when ordering that this is not possible. But it wasn't. The steak came out overcooked and very dry. The complaint was dismissed with the comment that "medium" is not legally possible for pork. Okay, but the information should be given BEFORE a dry piece of meat is on the plate.

We had to wait a long time for the food. Around 1 hour. All food was cold. The turkey meat was dry and almost inedible. The kale was soured. Portion of fried potatoes too small. Another guest had the same dish and had almost twice the portion on his plate. I'll save the rest!!!

It's a pretty average, typical restaurant. Nothing to complain about, nothing stands out specifically either. Extensive menu with loads of German classics in both food and drink. Service is nice.

We were there yesterday. It took forever until we were asked for drinks. The restaurant was also completely overheated. When the food came after an hour, everything was ok. I ate my pasta and halfway through it was floating in oil. I didn't complain because it was late and it would have taken forever. I then simply poured the oil onto a saucer. That's how it went to some extent. As I was clearing away I showed the oil to the waiter. He took it to the kitchen, but there wasn't even an apology.

Despite the delicious food, I don't give the potato house 5 stars and I'll now explain why: First of all, it is quite loud and uncomfortable there. The tables are also very close together. I didn't feel comfortable there. However, the service staff was very nice and there is nothing to complain about. The restaurant closes at 9pm, which I find a bit early. Now about the food: I had the “Holzsteiner Style” schnitzel with fried potatoes and a fried egg and I have to say that it was really tasty and I can’t find anything negative about it. The rice pudding for dessert was also tasty and solid. There is a slight deduction from my side due to what I think are rather expensive prices on the menu. All in all, I wouldn't recommend the potato house as a first choice, but I would say that you should definitely eat there once and get an idea, because it's a solid restaurant with good German cuisine!

Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience at the potato house in Göttingen! We wanted to spontaneously go out for dinner with two people. It was relatively full but there were a few tables available. Since there was no sign at the front telling you to wait (as is now common in many restaurants), we looked for a free table and sat down. Then after a while a young, blonde waitress (with a pigtail) came and said if we were still waiting!? We wanted to order straight away but she said the table was reserved! But it didn't say that anywhere, there was no sign about the reservation! We then wanted to move around, then she said that all tables with plates and cutlery are reserved and that you also have to wait at the front until someone comes to ask for a free table! Are you crazy? If there is no sign at the entrance and no one is standing at the front to 'receive' people, you can usually get a table and if there is no reservation sign on any table, the table is free! We travel a lot for work and are therefore familiar with high-priced restaurants, in the mid-price segment, etc., but we have never seen or experienced anything like this. We read a few of the good reviews, unfortunately we only had this bad experience there! In addition, the service was very rude, so friendliness towards the guests was not an option! Even if all the seats were actually 'reserved', you can say this in a friendly manner and explain it and then you might come back at another time! Also, in the men's room there was a pool of urine in the corner of the urinals and there were no paper towels for hands. So there's probably a lot of room for improvement!!!

The potato house in Göttingen is a real recommendation. Absolutely delicious food and there is something for everyone, whether vegetarian or with meat. You should reserve well in advance, at least on weekends, as it gets very busy. However, there are very few parking spaces in front of the house.

The selection on the menu is large, we ordered a potato burger, Bavarie duck breast and a dessert. All dishes were delicious, the prices were reasonable and the service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately it was relatively loud, even though it was a Tuesday evening and not completely full. Nevertheless, the food impressed us. We will be back definitely.

We had made reservations for eight people. We were assigned our seats in the stairwell, halfway up, between the ground floor and the first floor. The only thing that was annoying was a pillar between two chairs we were sitting on. The service was very friendly and attentive. The eight of us got our food at the same time, and our thirsty throats were taken very seriously 😀 The food was very good (thanks to the kitchen) and plentiful. Highly recommended for groups. Wir waren dort zum Frühstück an einem Freitag. Das Buffet-Angebot ist wirklich überragend und für jeden Geschmack ist etwas dabei, sehr vielfältig und auch lecker! Viele hausgemachte Leckereien. Ich würde es immer wieder empfehlen!

Empfehlen kann ich den Kartoffelburger. Gut zurecht gemacht mit Patty, frischen Tomaten, Gurken und einer leckeren Soße zwischen zwei Kartoffelpuffer. Immer wieder gerne. Die Cocktails sind zu empfehlen.
