Karl August - a Neighborhood Hotel in Nürnberg

A perfect stay at Nuremberg! The room is nice and clean, but I think it might be a bit small for some people. Breakfast is awesome, especially the croissant, I think it is one of the best croissant I’ve ever had. The gym is pretty big, enough for easy exercise. I really enjoy staying at this hotel, it’s very nice but not too pricey.

Good day, I am a regular customer at your hotel's café and really appreciate the atmosphere. Unfortunately, I have to describe an unpleasant experience I had on Sunday, February 2nd. As usual, the café was full, so we went into the foyer, as we had done many times before. Here the little brunette employee with the short haircut showed us where we could sit down. We sat down next to the bookshelf like she showed us and where we always sit when we come to this café. But a minute later she asked us in an extremely rude manner to get up and go back to the café because there were now seats available. Firstly, we have never been spoken to in this tone before. Secondly, it has always been allowed to sit down in the foyer if there is no space available in the café. I find it extremely rude that guests are rudely interrupted during their breakfast and forced to change seats. Additionally, our coffee was cold when we had to return to the café. Unfortunately, this experience has permanently tarnished my previous positive perception of your hotel. For this reason I will not visit your cafe again in the future.

Hello, In terms of its location, it is in a perfect place. The employees are very friendly and polite. Having only one elevator can sometimes be a waste of time. But overall, it was a hotel where I enjoyed my stay, thank you.

Great stay, super great staff! I wish the sauna was open in the morning. Room design was cool but I did not like the low angled ceiling on my side of the bed. Can't say enough about the staff. Pastries in the cafe were the best we had in all of Germany!

It deserves a five-star rating. The breakfast is rich and delicious. The staff are very professional and friendly, the room is very stylish, and the space is large enough for two large suitcases + small suitcases. The location is also very convenient ~ take U1 from the station and walk for 5 minutes, but there is a stone road in the middle, which is a bit hard. Overall very happy, thank you.

Had to cancel my stay because of force majeur, all flight cancelled due to bad weather. They charged the whole amount of my stay! No mercy ... even no attempt to offer a voucher for a future stay or a compensation!

The Karl August is centrally located in the Augustinerhof not far from the main market. All important sights are within walking distance. Our room (superior) was ok, you have to get used to the concrete look design. Everything seems very puristic and clear, so we couldn't figure out why the TV was hidden in a wall cabinet. This doesn't fit with the clear lines and makes it difficult to have an unobstructed view due to the side folding doors. The glass bathroom is a bit impractical, especially if someone needs to go to the toilet at night. Then the other person is already disturbed by the light. The breakfast is very expensive (€28) and is served on a cake stand. We would have preferred a buffet, as not everyone has the same preferences and there is still quite a lot left over. This is not particularly sustainable and is actually not okay. We had the impression that breakfast wasn't used that much, which is probably due to the price. The SPA area is very nicely designed, unfortunately it was very dark there and therefore difficult to relax with a book. The lighting concept should be reconsidered here. Unfortunately our room wasn't cleaned one day, which was a bit annoying. The staff responded very friendly to our complaint, but nothing more. The staff at the reception and in the bistro were extremely friendly throughout. Overall, you can say that the hotel has a very good location, but the concept needs improvement in some areas.

I had the pleasure of spending a few days at the Hotel Karl August in Nuremberg and I absolutely loved it. The location is simply perfect – right on the main market, in the middle of the old town, so you can easily reach everything on foot. My room was stylish and modern, yet comfortable and absolutely clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I had a great night's sleep every night. A real highlight was the breakfast. Great value is placed on regional products. The selection was large, everything was fresh and lovingly prepared - a perfect start to the day. The staff was consistently friendly and courteous, always with a smile on their faces and helpful with any questions. I felt really welcome and enjoyed every minute. If you are looking for a hotel with a perfect location, stylish ambience and excellent service, this is the right place for you. I'll definitely be back! LG Rene

Beautiful hotel! we were totally thrilled, stylish rooms, very clean. The staff was super nice and the location of the hotel was just perfect. Price performance is really top. The spa area is very nice, but unfortunately the pool water is far too cold, but it is still easy to relax. We will definitely come back, also because we noticed how dog-friendly this hotel is.

Very nice and modern hotel in the middle of Nuremberg. The staff at the reception are very warm and accommodating. There is nothing to complain about. We felt very comfortable.

A great hotel with an underground car park, Prater can be reached in 5 minutes on foot. The breakfast was very tasty and varied. Our double room was well equipped, the bathroom was very comfortable and large. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We absolutely love our stay at Karl August! Modern hotel in the middle of the old town. Perfect location for everything you want to do. The huge lobby was great for having coffee or cocktails. The rooms were clean spacious (heated tile floors didn’t go unnoticed!). The spa/sauna/pool area is very cool and relaxing. Can’t wait to come back to Nuremberg and stay here!

Well appointed modern with neat small functional rooms and BEST BREAKFAST EVER!

Hotel location, service, wellness and breakfast perfect. Unfortunately, as a single room I was given a dark storage room with a view of the small backyard, which couldn't be exchanged because all the other single rooms were occupied (even though I had already booked in June). The room had no desk, no closet and there were only 2 electrical outlets.

Great overall impression! Rooms very stylish, big enough and super clean. Unfortunately, loud music from the bar/lobby can be heard in the rooms until around 11-midnight, so sleep is out of the question. However, everything else was great. But the team took great care of us and immediately got us another room.

Rooms, service and location should get 10 out of 5, simply great. The pool is sensational, the breakfast is fantastic and the service is star-level from the first to the last minute! Thanks for everything, we'll be back very soon!

The Karl August is always worth a stay in Nuremberg. It starts at the reception when you check in and only ends when you (unfortunately) have to leave the hotel. Just beautiful.

A super nice hotel to stay in Nürnberg, it has everything, it is in the middle of the center, incredible architecture, wonderful service from its employees and fantastic comfort and convenience, pool, sauna, spa and gym, on the ground floor there is a very nice restaurant. Nice for breakfast and that coupon they gave you for a coffee is enjoyable. I would return a thousand times

Great customer service at the front desk and for breakfast. Found silverfish bugs in the corners of the rooms, on the bed, under the side table, and on the wall. Aside from that everything else was awesome.

We loved this hotel! We regularly stay at Marriott properties because of points/status, but the Marriott in Nürnberg looked a little dated. I found this hotel recommended on a Reddit thread maybe, and I'm so happy I did. The location was perfect if you're planning on exploring Alstadt (Old Town)- close to the square/market, churches, Dürer's house, etc. It was very modern, clean, and the family suite was a great size. The coffee shop and restaurant were delicious. Our young kids loved it and one of the servers even made them little babyccinos (steamed milks) to go with our espressos and that made them feel really special. Would definitely recommend this place to friends visiting the city.

Modern Boutique Hotel in the very Center of Nürnberg. Reduced and clean room design, shops and Cafés part of the hotel complex. Small, but nice spa area.

Nice hotel with modern structure. Excellent location for walking around. I stayed twice taking 2 types of rooms: a smaller one and a more spacious one which also had a kitchenette and fridge. I had a very good time, I would go back. Thank you Worth mentioning is the Brasserie Nitz restaurant. The car park is public but is practically located under the hotel.

I really liked the architecture and rooms. The lobby is specious and comfortable. The staff was courteous and helpful. The location in the city center and river is also great. The breakfast was also good. It was nice to be served at table, instead of a buffet. I must return once more to try the pool and spa.

Ultra-modern hotel with very little charm. The walls have the effect of being in a bunker. Concrete walls. Seem cold and unloving. The hallways are too dark. Only one seat in the double room. Breakfast is not a buffet. Parking for 2 N: 36 €!! However, it is very central. Fitness room very nice. Staff nice, polite and very accommodating.

Amazing hotel! Service, location, gym, drinks - everything was outstanding. Loved that it’s dog friendly too. I spent an entire day working downstairs in the lobby area which was amazing. Easy communication with staff during the stay via WhatsApp. Parking was great as well!

An excellent hotel for exploring Nuremberg with a modern and attractive atmosphere. It's my favorite hotel in the city. The ground floor lounge offers a wonderful opportunity to relax after a day of sightseeing. The service is fine and the staff shows commitment. Only once did I have the experience of the staff recommending that I exercise more after I had to go up and down the stairs twice because I had forgotten my keys.

Modern hotel in a great central location, directly on the Pegnitz. Wellness area under the roof invites you to chill out! Underground car park directly opposite. Extremely friendly staff at reception and in the restaurant. Delicious breakfast that leaves nothing to be desired. Great concept that there is no buffet, which slows down the morning. The French restaurant Nitz, where you also have breakfast, invites you to enjoy fine food and drinks in the evening! Mine is staying longer than expected! We will definitely come back and can only recommend the hotel!

Had the junior suite with balcony overlooking the river. There was a kitchenette in the room. Central to everything, a good option in the old town area.

Nothing to say. I loved the free ticket for a coffee or ice cream. We had breakfast at Café Pique Nique which is great. I also liked that it has a spa and pool in case the weather is bad. The unbeatable location next to the main square where all the excursions leave from. It is a boutique hotel with a lot of charm that you will be surprised to find in the center of Nuremberg.

A wonderful hotel... Super central... The family room is just perfect... Even had a small kitchen with fridge and hob etc. Breakfast is lovely too, albeit evening options are limited. On the 4th floor you also have a spa with sauna and pool. Staff are great. Would not hesitate to stay again.

Very nice minimalist rooms. Definitely suitable for a romantic weekend - the television is well hidden in the cupboard in terms of design, nothing is unnecessarily distracting. No flashy colors like in so many other German hotels - a design dream. Unfortunately, hotels of this level are almost only known abroad. Bathroom: What should be highlighted here is the large storage space, which many hotels simply don't want to learn. Beautiful terrazzo tiles - very calm and harmonious. Nice detail: Retterspitz products, which you can also buy right next door. Spa: The reason I booked the hotel in the first place. In contrast to the north, there are significantly fewer spas in southern Germany, and even fewer successful ones. This spa is very nicely done, but only accommodates a few disciplined people (= quiet people), so you should choose the days carefully if you want peace and quiet. The sauna is great. Suggestions for improvement would be fresh air - after 2 hours in the spa, my friend and I both had headaches because the air was so warm (and stale?). Spa areas in particular thrive on the contrast between hot and cold. When you come out of the sauna into a warm room, it's okay at first, but it affects your circulation. An alternative could be to provide more fresh air - without drafts - and offer warm mattresses instead (I mean, the Vabali in Düsseldorf does it that way). An ice pool would also be a nice addition, or a Kneipp tube. And a small point of criticism about the foot basins - the water didn't get really hot and came out in a very thin stream. This was the second stay for us at Karl August and we are extremely thrilled again. The service is very courteous and the rooms are beautifully designed. The spa area is also really impressive :) Another highlight is the breakfast with regional products. The fact that our four-legged friend is so welcome also makes us very happy. We'll definitely come back

A very special place where people are hosts from the heart, where high-quality design can be felt in every detail, where individuality and authenticity are very important. It was an absolute pleasure and refreshing change. We will be back!

Me and my partner went to Karl August for my birthday and we were both more than thrilled. The room, the pool, everything was great and very well maintained/clean. Above all, we were impressed by the service from the employees. Everyone was always very friendly (and not fake) and accommodating. We will be back definitely :)

Excellent hotel, we will come back with pleasure. It is very well located in the city, very beautiful and the staff very friendly. The parking lot is right opposite. The negative would be the breakfast which is really not up to par for the price. Very sparse ‘shelf’ breakfast and not of very high quality. We finally preferred to cancel the second breakfast to have it at the Pique-nique bakery where it was better. The restaurant itself is also rather expensive but there are other more affordable places in town. Also the pool is really cold.

Well-designed modern hotel, absolutely centrally located. We had a superior double room with two separate beds and a lot of space in the room. The beds were great. The bathroom is large and has a large shower cubicle. The rooms are minimalistically furnished and not cozy in the classic sense, but we felt comfortable. We didn't have breakfast. However, I think the dog surcharge is excessive at EUR 35.

Very nice hotel! The design is superb, the rooms are super comfortable, the hotel is very central, the staff is very good, just 2 downsides: 1.The pool water is very cold. 2. The breakfast is not great, there is no buffet, they just bring us a tray with fruit salad which is not homemade nor the juices, not much choice and the quantity is zero for the high price !

We were extremely satisfied! The service and the spa area were outstanding. At reception we were given top culinary recommendations and we tried them all! The hotel is very modern, clean and pleasantly quiet. The location is almost directly on the market square, so everything is within walking distance. The room we had was great for one night, but for several nights with suitcases it would have been quite tight for two people, but maybe there are differences... The bathroom was visually wonderful and there was enough storage space. However, areas of the bathroom could be improved as the toilet door was heavy and large and had no stopper and therefore always closed with a bang and unfortunately it dragged on the floor in our room and left unsightly scratches on the floor... the shower was a bit leaky, So unfortunately the entire rug got wet… otherwise the hotel and the rooms are beautiful! The fitness area was well maintained, spacious and had towels, yoga mats and even water bottles. I would stay there again and again and definitely use the spa area ;)

1 of the nicest Hotels I ever stayed in. On the Planet… Unfortunately the management is completely incompetent and short-sighted. They even manage to scare away enthusiastic guests like me so that I had to go to court. Agreements were broken and attempts were made to blackmail me. But the other employees are all really fantastic. From the reception to the restaurant to housekeeping. Best regards
