Nice location and delicious food, lamb shank was excellent

We went there for breakfast on Saturday based on a recommendation. We found the atmosphere very nice and the quality of the food impressed us. We would have liked an additional selection of bread. But that is not a criticism of what exists. What was available was still warm and very fresh and very tasty. The volume was OK, but it wasn't very crowded. We will come back and try the hot dishes too.

Rating from (former) regular guests: Today was our last time at Kalimera. We had two main courses, which in themselves were nothing to complain about and were good, above average. The lamb was a little too raw, but a small point deduction for that. However, we had ordered tzatziki, which didn't come, and instead of a baked potato, we ordered some salad, which was promised, but didn't come either. When asked in a friendly manner, the junior manager came and literally said “nothing is free here”. Things then continued even more unfriendly and he said he didn't care if we came back and we could also write a review. We're doing that now too. With the penultimate experience a week ago, today it was too much of a good thing and we say bye bye Kalimera and definitely won't be coming back. We can't remember ever being treated so unkindly in a restaurant. And that too from the boss himself. Everyone can decide for themselves whether they want to support something like that... oh yes, the portions also seem to be shrinking... inflation is noticeable here too.

Heute waren wir zum letzten Mal im Kalimera. Wir hatten zwei Hauptgerichte, die waren an sich nicht zu beanstanden und guter oberer Durchschnitt. Das Lamm war etwas zu roh, dafür ein kleiner Punktabzug. Wir hatten allerdings Tzatziki bestellt, der nicht kam und statt einer Ofenkartoffel etwas Salat, was zugesichert wurde, aber auch nicht kam. Auf freundliche Nachfrage kam dann der Juniorchef und meinte wortwörtlich „es gibt hier nichts umsonst“. Es ging dann noch unfreundlicher weiter und er meinte es sei ihm egal, ob wir wiederkommen und wir könnten auch auch ruhig eine Bewertung schreiben. Das machen wir jetzt auch. Mit der vorletzten Erfahrung vor einer Woche war das heute zuviel des Guten und wir sagen bye bye Kalimera und kommen definitiv nicht wieder. Wir können uns nicht erinnern, in einem Restaurant jemals so unfreundlich behandelt worden zu sein. Und das auch noch vom Chef persönlich. Es darf jeder für sich entscheiden, ob er so etwas unterstützen möchte.. oh ja die Portionen scheinen auch zu schrumpfen.. die Inflation ist auch hier spürbar.

The quality of the food and service is roughly comparable to that of a bistro. For example, you take the given plate yourself and then help clear it away. The ambience is visually appealing, but unfortunately the location is also quite loud. But it was the long-haired waiter with the pigtail who took the cake when, quite naturally, he asked if we wanted “tzatziki with it”, which was then charged an extra €6.50 in the end. Absolutely misleading, simply a scam that, for me, devalues ​​the business as a whole to just one star. So, don't be fooled! Oh right. If you think you'll get an ouzo (or anything else) on the house from this Greek restaurant, you're sorely mistaken!

Mit meiner Freundin war ich neulich zum Mittagessen dort. Wir haben aus der Karte Suflaki gewählt. Dazu gab es Pommes. Das Fleisch war von Sehnen und Fett durchzogen. Noch nie habe ich so eine schlechte Qualität in einem griechischen Restaurant bekommen. Wir werden von einem weiteren Besuch erstmal Abstand nehmen.

We were halfway through the capital looking for a good restaurant. The star rating was convincing and in direct competition with fast food giants and well-known chain restaurants, Kalimera is a welcome change. The building and ambience inside and on the restaurant terrace is beautiful and inviting and appears to be of very high quality. There were two of us there and we ordered the bifteki with parmesan fries and the grilled skewer plate with baked potatoes. What seems homemade is ultimately more convenient. The food is served in many small bowls, carelessly arranged. The starter is served with homemade bread without oil or butter, let alone a starter plate. So the bread basket remained almost full. As you can see on the other guests' tables, you only get something from the bread basket when you order the expensive appetizer platter. The quality of the meat was good, the skewer was an eye-catcher, but the food quickly got cold, even if the plate wasn't warmed up. The meat was grilled very dry and the Parmesan fries - a bowl of fries with grated Parmesan - confirm the impression of homemade convenience. The service was nice, but not very accommodating and could be improved. There was no request for a second drink, whether the food was okay or whether you wanted the cards again. When we asked for payment, we remembered that we still had the bowl Greek yogurt with fruit and nuts. With the first order of food and drinks, our table felt like it was already checked off. The prices are clearly too expensive for the quality offered and you pay a surcharge for the expensive investment in the building and ambience. In the end we have 35€ per person. Paid for 2 main courses and 2 drinks and left rather disappointed Given the high prices and the image created, we definitely expected more. Therefore no recommendation below.

You can eat well here, BUT: The drinks are extremely overpriced, €5.20 for a 0.4 drink?? That's really bad. Or €4.20 for a small beer and €3.20 for an espresso. The owners should really think about whether this is fair?! Ambiance is okay, a bit loud and echoey. Thanks to the good food, it's a worthwhile trip, but if necessary, have drinks beforehand and only eat on site :D

The kitchen keeps what is promised on the homepage. I really enjoyed my birthday meal! The service was overwhelmed and inattentive when there was a little more crowd. That's why I unfortunately didn't order any wine for the main course, the little one only got the ketchup he ordered with the almost cold French fries and when it came to the ice cream, unfortunately it wasn't mentioned that it was yoghurt ice cream with pieces of fruit and not fruit ice cream. Nice ambience, modern furnishings, well-kept outside. Children's playground doesn't inspire confidence except for the swing. Unfortunately, we had a table on the terrace right on the aisle, well within earshot of the pass. The service staff speak Greek among themselves. That sounds very unfriendly - now I don't know the language and can't judge whether that's part of the sound of the language or whether it was really unfriendly. We didn't feel well served and for that reason we wouldn't eat there again.

Good selection, excellent food and great service in a nice environment. Even though it was busy, we got a table straight away without a reservation.

I was traveling to Hanover on business and ate there with colleagues. I ordered a gyros grill plate and it tasted excellent. Beforehand there was bread with tzatziki and olive oil...it's probably always included. Would definitely eat there again.

The best restaurant in Garbsen. There is not better that I know there.

The staff was nice but inattentive to the service

Went there yesterday for our birthday with 13 people. We asked for the reserved table and were shown outside to the back, but our table was reserved inside. The staff should have managed it and it wasn't so busy yesterday. The service person made a stressed (annoyed) impression. We've had much friendlier experiences. The food didn't all come at the same time and 3 had to wait longer for their food. When we asked the waiter we received an irritated, rude answer. The portions were very manageable. I had salmon and some vegetables that went cold quickly because the plate wasn't warm. The birthday child had a gyro plate with fries and other things, which in my opinion was very carelessly prepared. He said it was all very dry. A large pile of raw, thick onion rings (who eats so many raw onions?), small bowl of fries, gyro meat (dry) and some red sauce - no tzatziki. Definitely could be done a little nicer. (More like a snack bar) The salad beforehand was also a bit disappointing! The starter bowls were also smaller than usual. Conclusion: Personally, I wouldn't eat there again so quickly. It's become more expensive and the portions are smaller.....it's a shame!

Kalimera had been our favorite place for over 10 years. Unfortunately, things have slowed down a lot in the last year. What is different now? What bothers me is that a lot of the service is still under pressure and stress, the music is very loud and totally annoying, but what annoyed me the most was that the quality of the food had unfortunately deteriorated. On the penultimate visit, my husband spoiled his stomach with a Giros plate until he called in sick. On our last visit, our favorite dish, Calamaries (N96), was absolutely inedible, very dry and tough. Calamaries gave the impression that they had already been prepared the day before and thrown into the mess again. I told the waiter (oddly enough, there were at least 3 of them who took turns serving us) - no reaction, unfortunately. Well... dear Kalimerans, I would be very happy if you did something in the direction of quality.

We have been eating at kalimera for years. Because it was always delicious, great atmosphere and friendly service. Yesterday was the last time and unfortunately never again. We are so very disappointed... We feel ripped off... We can't get the dishes, open potatoes were always with sauce, the waiter asked us if we would like tzatziki? We got the tzatziki with salad, so you should consider it a starter and eat it straight away. Open potatoes came without sauce and had to be eaten dry... But the worst thing was, the bill said 2 x tzatziki... By the way, 1 small bowl of tzatziki now costs €6.50.... So lunch for two people with only two drinks: €84.40 is quite steep... What a shame.

We gave the restaurant another chance after 4 years, but unfortunately we weren't convinced again. The ambience outside is nice, the menu is very narrow. Starter for 2 people, bread and 6kl. Dips 20€ is already steep. Gyros was more like "crumbly meat". For 2 people, we paid €70, personally I think it's too expensive for a starter and 2x Giros as well as 2 beers and 1kl. Sprite. The terrace would offer more potential. It's a shame that it's not clear whether there are also buffet promotions. Nothing attracts us there anymore.

I had dinner at Kalimera with my wife today. I ordered a giro plate for myself and my wife ordered an antipasti and a tiramisu. The waiter said I would bring the tiramisu later. My question asked why. But he said it would come later. The meal I received was a grilled plate and not the Giro plate I ordered. I told the waiter, but said it's OK. My wife got her antipasti. When my wife asked about the tiramisu, she said it was out and she wanted something else. OK, something else. I then told the waiter that he now had to buy an ouzo for these two mistakes. He said yes and brought it. When paying, the waiter brought the wrong receipt. I told him I didn't have any fish or extra fries. He brought a new receipt. I then saw that I should pay for the ouzo. I spoke to him about it and told him that with the wrong receipt, my wrong (and significantly more expensive) meal and the no longer available tiramisu, 3 mistakes had been made to our detriment and he had promised us ouzo as compensation. He started arguing that we had ordered wrong etc. I paid without a tip and will definitely not go there again for a while. Service is different LG Rüdiger P

So we were charged an additional basket of bread because we couldn't get by with 5 slices of bread for 3 very expensive starters. The waiter was also very businesslike and took us a little by surprise. When ordering a main course, people asked whether tzatziki should be served with it. Assuming we thought there would be a small dollop of tzatziki on the plate, a complete starter was served for just under €7. The same was true with the offer of “some grilled peppers” for the main course. Here, too, we assumed it would be a free addition and now had another €7 on the bill. Very businesslike from the staff and very simple from us. It ruins the good impression you had when money is taken out of your pocket like that. Especially since tzatziki was already ordered as a starter. A pity :-(

Was once the best Greek in Hanover. Unfortunately, not anymore at all. Priced beyond good and evil. €9 for a liter of water is simply cheeky. Quality of food good, but not commensurate with the price. It's a real shame, but others, such as the Meteora and Niki, simply offer more for the money. You can't even get a Uozo for free.

Food was ok, but for four people, it's not a good idea to dish out two portions of ailioli or tzatziki each without mentioning that the (far too large) portion costs €6.50 or €6.90.

A little bit of holiday feeling with delicious food and nice service

If you are looking for a Greek-Mediterranean restaurant in the Garbsen area, this should be your first choice. First of all, what you can't expect here: an overloaded meat platter, which is usually how the quality of such a restaurant is measured. The first thing a guest can expect here is friendly staff and they can almost always get a seat, even if they visit spontaneously. All the dishes we've eaten so far (I've already tried all parts of the menu) have been delicious. As I said, you don't need a huge portion, as you would expect from long-established village Greeks, where the meat is enough for the next 2 days. But the product is of very good quality, always tasty and has a friendly, feel-good atmosphere.

You should definitely have been here, great, great location, super nice people, because they work hard. The food was simply great...

We were 4 people I visited with the restorand good day the atmosphere was wonderful very neat and very beautiful restaurant. As for the food it was not worth a big disappointment except that I waited for almost an hour we got a pizza which was uncooked I would like to bake more as for the various cheeses we got and the shrimps were too oily, no taste. As for the service, they should pay much more attention to the customers, if we didn't shout, no one would come.

Anyone who thinks they will hear Greek tavern music in the restaurant will be disappointed here, as the shallow relaxing music is played very loudly so that you cannot hear the person sitting next to you at the table who is sitting very, very close to you. For me, the tables are very close to each other so that you can hear everything from your neighbor. On the other hand, there is still the background noise from the volume boxes above our heads. In short, it's not for people who are sensitive to noise, but the food is tasty and there is also great service. There's nothing to complain about. Even if prices have risen. Quality has its price . It's just not a gyros stand, but a real, nicely decorated restaurant. The breakfast buffet on the weekend is also highly recommended. I love it. Unfortunately this is no longer available during the week, which I think is a shame. I had almost forgotten that. It also has a lovely beer garden in the back. In summer it's lovely to sit there to eat or drink a beer.
