Joe Peña's in Leonberg

We were there today with four people. It was very noisy; we had to speak louder just to be heard at the table. The food was good, and the service was good too. But the extremely high noise level was really unpleasant for me. The happy hour is a rip-off for people who order non-alcoholic cocktails! The normal price for a non-alcoholic cocktail is around €7.70-€8.00, but the happy hour price is only €7.50! Even for non-alcoholic cocktails! Card payments are only accepted for amounts over €30. I just don't understand it.

The dishes have nothing to do with authentic Mexican cuisine. The prices are simply too high for what's offered. The atmosphere isn't great either. The seating is cramped, it's noisy, and the air is stuffy. The service was okay.

JOE’S FAJITAS VEGETARIAN plus beef and chicken pan delicious but with four tortilla bread too many and ENSALADA DE PAVO ASADO was delicious but you could really taste the butter in the garlic baguette but it was ok.

The service team was very friendly and accommodating. The food could have been prepared with more care and spicier.

My partner and I only went there twice, but both times we left full and happy. High prices, yes, but also more than understandable given the location and quality. The restaurant is lovingly decorated and very cozy, the menu is varied and just as lovingly designed (even with little explanations and stories). The staff are always wonderful to us, attentive, and sometimes up for a little fun 😊 The food is beautifully presented (here's what we've had the last few times). Colorful, balanced, and more than enough to fill you up. Small side dishes like bean paste, rice, herb butter, sauces, etc. are wonderfully balanced, I think. We don't come to Leonberg very often, but we'll definitely be back! The only thing that makes me sad is that I never got around to trying the chili con carne. Last time I was there, it was already empty (which makes me happy, because then it must have been good, and besides, it was already afternoon 🤣), and when we visited last week, it was off the menu. So maybe it'll be back on the menu sometime soon, I'll be right out the door 🤗😍 See you next time!

The food was delicious. Despite the restaurant being very busy, we managed to get a seat. The cocktails are also highly recommended.

We got a table spontaneously and without a reservation (Monday at 7 p.m.). The service was friendly and prompt. The ambiance was lovely. The food was excellent and we all enjoyed it immensely. We'd be happy to go back. :)

They can do anything except spicy food. And corn tortillas. Basically, everything that defines Mexican food. But that's kind of the same everywhere.

Nie wieder! Sehr eingeschränktes Angebot für Vegetarier. Auf Nachfrage, ob Käse in den Gerichten weggelassen werden kann, wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass alles schon vorbereitet und eingearbeitete ist. Es gibt aber auch leider fast kein Gericht ohne Käse. Am Ende kommen dann Pommes oder Nachos mit Guacamole in Frage. Leider war die Guacamole dann aber auch noch „gekippt“, sie war eindeutig schlecht und hatte einen gegärten Geschmack. Der Chef teilte uns mit, dass das nicht sein kann, er hätte einen frischen „Eimer“ geöffnet. Sie würden das immer in Eimern vorbereiten, sonntags. Fazit: Es wird dort nichts frisch zubereitet, es werden Reklamationen nicht wirklich ernst genommen. Die Angestellten haben sich hinter unserem Rücken lustig gemacht. Es gab weder eine Entschuldigung, noch ein Entgegenkommen. Schrecklicher Laden, das Geld ist in einem Burger King besser investiert. Da weiß man zumindest, dass nicht alles frisch zubereitet wird. Und Vegetarier haben mehr zur Auswahl.

We had a pleasant dinner at Joe Pena's before heading to the cinema. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The food was good and nicely presented, with a solid range of choices on the menu. Service was friendly and efficient, making it a great place for a pre-movie meal.

Very friendly staff, and the food was tasty. But the prices were definitely excessive for the portions – €22 for three tacos that were half-cold and so soggy by the end that you couldn't eat properly. My chair was wobbly, but luckily I was able to change it myself. If it weren't for the movie theater next door, which we visited, I wouldn't recommend trying Mexican food here.

Well, I have to be honest. Yesterday, we were immediately assigned a table. Only half of it was occupied. But after a good 25 minutes of waiting and absolutely no further attention from the staff, we left the place without ordering anything. That's absolutely unacceptable and doesn't even deserve a star, where guests have to wait over 20 minutes to place an order when the restaurant was only half full. A McDonald's just around the corner will suffice for our next visit... Apparently, the customer is king isn't a priority here. Never again...

The food is delicious. The staff is mostly friendly. This restaurant had the potential to become my new favorite. However, one thing bothers me greatly. According to the website, the kitchen is supposed to be open until 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The second time I was there, it was around 9 p.m., and the kitchen was already closed. There was absolutely no service from the service team. I find that disgraceful.

We were attentively greeted at the door by a member of the staff. We ordered a Chicken salad and Lady's cut steak. For drinks, zero Soda and 7up. The steak was cooked Medium as requested. Condiments were provided on the table and steak was served with Butter with herbs, ketchup, corn on the cob and additional Coleslaw. The steak wasn't tasty as I hoped it would be. And the coleslaw was a bit too salty and sour.

I can't say anything about the food, but the ambiance and drinks are great, and the service is friendly. While you're waiting for the kids at the cinema next door, you can dream a little about the holidays here.

The service was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food was only lukewarm and not particularly good. The beef was tough and chewy. Everything tasted like it had been reheated several times.

We always enjoy the food here, and the service is impeccable. I still think the price-performance ratio is acceptable, but you can see that everything is getting more expensive. Unfortunately, there's no private restroom; you have to go upstairs by the cinema. We don't like the rather loud music, and the seating isn't particularly comfortable in the long run. Since this is often typical for Mexican restaurants, I'm not deducting a star for that. We try to go when it's less busy.

The food was really delicious. Nice variety, well seasoned and the meat was tender. So I would come back for the food. Service was also great, except at the end, we had to wait a long time until we "caught" someone again to finally pay. The ambience is appropriately decorated, but the seats were quite uncomfortable.

Last night I spontaneously went out to eat before going to the cinema. I have to be honest, the food wasn't really that good - both in terms of taste and when I left the restaurant with a stomach ache. The service was also a disaster: it took almost five minutes for the four employees to even notice me after I ordered. Apparently napkins aren't brought to meals as a matter of course, so staff should be reminded of this. Personally, as a restaurateur, I find it really disappointing and a shame to serve a margarita without any decorations and in a normal glass for 10 euros. My conclusion after yesterday evening: I would not recommend this restaurant. For this price range there are definitely better places that are worth the money and where the food tastes something special.

I was there for the fourth time last week. Up until now, I wasn't really convinced by the food, so this time I ordered the chili. It was tasty, but more like goulash. The service was unfortunately really bad. My chair was broken, and I had to ask twice for a new one. My friend waited over half an hour for her first cocktail. The third time I asked, she was told it always took a long time because they had to crush the basil. She ordered another cocktail later. After another half hour for a Sex on the Beach, she decided to leave. Oh yes, she had ordered her meal without cheese, and how was it served? That's right, with cheese. All in all, another bad experience. The food is only given 3 stars because my meal was okay. But I also had to wait 20 minutes for the Tabasco and ask three times. Payment is cash only. Card payments are only accepted for over €30. A no-go in 2025! Unfortunately, I was there with a larger group. If it were up to me, I wouldn't go there voluntarily!

The food was very good and the drinks were great too. The service was very bad, the lady was nice, but we were constantly forgotten. We would have drunk significantly more if we hadn't sat in front of an empty glass for 30 minutes each... Here the service staff should be much more attentive and not just run to large tables, there is no question that there is more to do here, but unfortunately it is not possible to forget small ones either.

Mexican food is always something special. With or without a cinema (film). The restaurant is incredibly busy. That's why you should definitely reserve in good time (see homepage). Friendly and competent service! Always my pleasure

Great Mexican restaurant. Perfect if you go to the cinema afterwards. The only point of criticism. Owner no longer wants a credit card because it costs too much. You can still pay with it, but you will be asked if you can pay differently.

Our go-to when we go to the dream palace. Already tried a few dishes and so far everything has been very good. Service staff is attentive and extremely friendly throughout. You sit comfortably and the whole place has a very cozy feel.

As a larger team, we ate at Joe Peñas. Each employee had €60 available from the employer. As a starter there were 4 dips with tortillas The cocktails were good. A colleague had a fajita de verdura & I had a burrito de verduras.

Really very tasty, guacamole was prepared in front of us and the crema catalana was "flambéed"/caramelized at the table with the burner...almost "show cooking", something different 😀. Afterwards we went to the dream palace, which is right next door - a lovely afternoon, thank you! Highly recommended!

Nice atmosphere - very attractively designed. Unfortunately a bit noisy when the restaurant is busy. On weekends it is advisable to make a reservation. Very attentive & friendly service staff. Food very tasty! Good selection of vegetarian dishes, some dishes are even vegan possible. I ordered enchiladas filled with spinach and caramelized sweet potatoes. It was very tasty, but unfortunately the portion was a bit manageable - four small enchiladas were enough but there was exactly half a small sweet potato on the plate - that could have been a few more - salad bouquet was sufficient. Unfortunately I had to order a dessert because I just wasn't full yet - I'm usually easily full after a main course, and I usually can't even finish it. Then I had enchiladas filled with peanuts and chocolate with vanilla ice cream. That was awesome! Great selection of cocktails, something for everyone - even non-alcoholic.

Four of us were there recently and had dinner and cocktails at happy hour. The food was ok, the service was very nice but not particularly attentive, The cocktails, however, were a disgrace!!! These basically only consisted of ice, and alcohol was only contained in microscopic quantities, if at all. Even the Aperol Spritz was more transparent than anything else. That doesn't work at all!!!

As a connoisseur of South American cuisine, the food is fine and delicious. The service is friendly and attentive! The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, but is also very popular and can get very busy, which is why reservations are important. You can park for a fee. The food came suspiciously quickly, but the restaurant was clearly full.

I know it's hard to find good Mexican/tex-mex/Latin food in Germany. The restaurant is nice low light In the evening, and the music was Salsa which I loved. The food, however, was underwhelming for me, and it was expensive for what you get. I spent 72€ on 2 drinks that were on special two meals and a cola and appetizer...the drinks were great! Really enjoyed the drinks 😂. Maybe that price is average right now, as I don't go out to eat often anymore, but there was nothing that really wowed me other than the service and drinks. The guys working were great and friendly, and I enjoyed enough. I would go back for drinks, but probably not food. Food wasn't bad tasty just not wow...

Really friendly and hard-working service staff, unfortunately the kitchen is rather mixed and continues to decline. The prices are therefore not appropriate. We probably won't come back.

Trash food. Trash service They forgot to bring us the food, tortila was old, food is tasteless ( no seasoning ) Drinks are great, 5* We asked to pay but the waiter forgot to bring us the bill. Too much time wasted here. You can avoid, it ruined my mexican experience.

The food was okay and the presentation of the dishes was good. However, the prices are rather high compared to the performance offered. The restaurant offers Mexican cuisine that is solid but not outstanding. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff is friendly and attentive. Overall, an acceptable experience, but the high prices may deter some guests. If you like Mexican cuisine and are willing to pay a little more, it might be worth a visit.

And despite happy hour, the full price was charged for cocktails. However, the price was corrected when we put it on the invoice. It still shouldn't and shouldn't happen. Despite the faux pas, the store can be recommended. The food is absolutely good and cocktails are also delicious.

Always been very tasty so far! Unfortunately, a big weakness is the service of the waiters. Very bad and inattentive. Everything takes forever. 15 minutes until you get the card. Then no one comes to order anymore, etc. You sit in front of empty plates for 30 minutes after eating. The waiter shows up at the next table and runs back empty-handed instead of clearing our table... There are just waiters who don't feel like it. A pity.

There were 6 of us and we made a reservation. The food and drinks were very tasty. We ate, among other things, alas de pollo and nachos baked with cheese, both of which were very tasty. But there were also vegan alternatives and salads. The drinks were slightly reduced because it was happy hour. They were very tasty. The non-alcoholic cocktail Fresh Garden and the homemade lemonade were highly recommended. For those who want a local drink, there is also Hefeweizen. There was no one on site, but judging by the posters, one or two DJs occasionally played.

Got a high table because everything was reversed. After 3 hours (in the restaurant) half of the tables were still unoccupied. Are you punished for spontaneously visiting you?

The starters are relatively large, so you have to keep that in mind when ordering ;) Not only was the food delicious, but so were the drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We were there relatively early so there was still space, but it fills up quickly, so a reservation makes sense. Definitely a recommendation

Very tasty food. The price is a bit high but you get something for it. The service was nice and you felt comfortable. An absolute exception was even made for us so that we could get a dish that was actually no longer on the menu. In terms of space, it's a bit tighter and the tables are also small. Had something to eat before the cinema. Location was beautifully done Service was also okay So if you like fries in a basket this is the place to be. I didn't like the warps with chicken. A plate with different ingredients to serve yourself. I think the quality is really bad for the price. Of course everyone has to save money, but if you offer something for the price, I expect something decent. I wouldn't go there again to eat, but you can just sit together and have a drink :)

I recently visited Joe Peña's in Leonberg to spend a cozy evening with friends. The decision to choose this location for our meeting turned out to be excellent. One of the standout features was the excellent service. The staff was characterized by friendliness and attentiveness, which made the stay even more pleasant. The culinary experience also left nothing to be desired. The food was excellent, which put a smile on all of our faces. Although the noise level in the restaurant was a bit high, it didn't dampen the positive mood. In fact, the lively atmosphere helped make our evening lively and fun. Joe Peña's in Leonberg is definitely a place I can highly recommend for meeting friends. It offers the perfect combination of delicious food, friendly service and a lively atmosphere, which together guarantee an unforgettable time.

One of our favorite places to go for a relaxed meal with a great variety of cocktails. There are cheaper places to go, but for a nice evening out, it's worth it!

Service was rather slow and avoided eye contact. Food was overloaded with salad. In particular with huge lattuce leaves which make the plate just look big. Food was therefore rather unsatisfying in total and very expensive for what you get: two people with two main dishes, one salad and two cocktails resulted in about 100€. I would have liked to see a receipt with an overview, but nothing was provided. Cannot recommend it at all.

Service was friendly, but the food was of very poor quality. By the time you got to vanilla ice cream, you realized that you couldn't have bought the product cheaper. We have always had good experiences at Joe Peñas Ludwigsburg.
