JING JING in Hamburg

We were there on Valentine's Day with a reservation. As expected, it was quite full and we had to wait outside for at least 15-20 minutes despite having a reservation - I think this is due to the special day. The service was otherwise quick and super friendly. They also always pointed out the spiciness of the dishes etc., which was really nice. The food tasted really great - but the drinks - they were amazing! Guys, order cocktails! It doesn't matter which one - they're all good! Pack some money, but it's worth it. The two of us spent €150 including tip for a starter, two main courses, water and 6 cocktails - super fair in my opinion. The location is very nice and has a special flair thanks to the graffiti. The only "disadvantage" is if you don't like loud music.

Ambiance, service and drinks are good. The food m.m.n..overrated. Bad value for money. I've eaten better chicken wings as a starter and baked chicken as a main course at almost every Asian restaurant in Hamburg for less money.

Honestly it would be my favorite restaurant in Hamburg, I used to love the food and the environment. Unfortunately the portions are getting smaller, like the crispy salad that is my favorite dish this time just came half of the normal portion, also the Grilled iberico decreased in quality, thin and fatty meat. Service has become slow and messy, you need to ask more than 2x if you need something, after waiting 20 min I had to go to the door to do the payment. Saying that, I would definitely be visiting less the restaurant. Hope they change it.

Little Bangkok in Hamburg - absolute recommendation for Thai food!

Very authentic Thai food with great service, just like you would expect from the Momo Ramen restaurant from the same owners.

Uncomfortable, very small portions, overpriced and wanting too much and not being able to. Service (male) extremely unfriendly. Food itself was okay, but we missed the typical Thailand feeling. Very unfortunate.

The jing jing is really worth a visit. Based on the atmosphere and location, it could be a secret underground bar in New York or something. The food is really great, the drinks and cocktails too! I would always order a starter, not only because they taste great, but because I probably wouldn't be able to eat just one main course. But this way you can try even more delicious things :) So highly recommended :)

This must be heaven. A fantastic Thai location in Hamburg. The food is 5 star plus and leads to new culinary experiences. Reservation online is not that easy. Backyard atmosphere just great.

Entgegen der meisten Rezensionen, ist uns extrem viel Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt worden. Auch der Personalwechsel hat kein Problem dargestellt.... Essen war durch die Bank weg super! Gerne wieder.

Toll ausgebautes Loft. Super Ambiente! Das Essen übertrifft alle Erwarteungen immer wieder. Die Cocktails verzaubern. Die Musik ist Modern und sehr gut gewählt.

Ein gelungener Abend, wir fanden es alle sehr lecker, besonders das Alsterwasser mit der Calamansi-Limonade muss man unbedingt probiert haben. Service super nett, fragt auch nicht dauernd nach, wenn man etwas länger sitzt und wir durften auch länger als 2 Stunden bleiben, obwohl es voll war. Klare Empfehlung!

Es war mir ein Fest. Unfassbar leckeres Essen, nette Bedienung , super Musik, exzellente Drinks, nur etwas zügig war es. Ich komme trotzdem sehr gerne wieder. :-)

Great service, authentic ambience and very tasty food. However, you have to like coriander. There are also many vegetarian and vegan dishes. A manageable but good wine selection, many beers, very good cocktails. Priced appropriately. Overall a great experience.

It was an almost completely successful evening. You don't have to talk long about the food, it's really first class. The entire ambience appears loving and well thought out and is in parts really authentic. What surprised us was that the volume and the music weren't too loud in any way and it was very easy to have a conversation. Only the service seemed a bit uncoordinated from time to time.

I went there twice and I really liked the cocktails.

The Jing Jing is somewhat hidden and looks unspectacular from the outside. But the atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and stylish. The food was outstanding and the service was simply super friendly and accommodating. If you don't like or don't like it that spicy, you can say so and the meal will be tailored accordingly. The Jing Jing also has an excellent bar where some of Hamburg's best cocktails are mixed. Simply recommended.

Das Essen war wieder sehr lecker, beide weiblichen Bedienungen waren sehr nett, hilfsbereit, entgegenkommend was unsere schwierige Auswahl an Cocktails anging und absolut aufmerksam! Wir hatten einen wirklich schönen Sister-Abend dort! Nur die sehr laute und anstrengende Musikauswahl beim Essen war nicht ganz passend. Die Musik auf der Toilette war hingegen besser! Ansonsten tolles Restaurant!

Mega tasty, super cool, extremely friendly staff

Ich würde gerne 5 Sterne geben, aber bei den Preisen (inkl. Getränke mit Alkohol ca. 100€ pro Person) finde ich es unangemessen, den Tisch nur für 2 Stunden zu bekommen. Uns wurde ein Platz an der Bar freigehalten und das war super nett, allerdings auch mega laut durch die Club-Musik, meine Ohren rauschen immer noch. Wenn man da hingeht, um in Party-Atmosphäre zu essen, ist es prima, aber nicht für ein schönes, entspanntes Abendessen. Der Service war super nett, aber schon fast zu präsent, kaum hatte man aufgegessen, wurden auch schon die Teller weggenommen. Sicherlich muss das bei dem Timing so sein, aber dadurch ist es dann leider auch etwas ungemütlich. Es war schwer, sich dadurch nicht Stressen zu lassen. Man konnte gar nicht in Ruhe ankommen und sich erstmal kurz mit den anderen Leuten, mit denen ich da war, auszutauschen. Ich hatte das Gefühl, ganz schnell wenigstens Aperitif und Vorspeise aussuchen zu müssen, damit die Strenge Taktung auch eingehalten wird. Während der Vorspeise dann schnell die Hauptspeise bestellen. Die Hauptspeise kam so schnell, dass ich wirklich das Gefühl hatte, dass der Tisch schnell frei werden muss. Die Ausstattung ist prima, sieht toll aus, nur eben leider viel zu laut. Das Essen war gut bis sehr gut, besonders das Dessert war wirklich toll. Bei den Hauptgängen würde ich mir mal eine Variation wünschen. War vor 1,5-2 Jahren auch hier und da waren die gleichen Hauptgerichte auf der Karte. Ideal ist es, um das Gefühl zu haben, nicht in Hamburg zu sein. Da sind schon NY-Vibes oder vllt auch Berlin-Vibes zu spüren. Aber ich denke, dass sich die Betreiber einen Gefallen tun würden, den Tisch wenigstens 2,5 Stunden zu Verfügung zu stellen. Klar wollen sie reichlich Umsatz machen, aber bei Poletto oder im Cox habe ich für ähnliches Geld den Tisch den ganzen Abend und kann mit Freund*innen entspannt essen und fühle mich willkommen.

Tolles Ambiente untermalt mit stimmungsvoller Musik. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Selbst wenn Gäste am Nachbartisch einen Cocktail zurückgeben, der extra auf ihren Wunsch gemixt wurde und dabei das Servicepersonal auslachen, bleibt das Personal sehr freundlich. Das Essen ist schlichtweg perfekt. Großartige Gewürze und intensive Schärfe, die immer präsent, aber nie zu stark ist. Eiskaltes Leo Bier und kreative Limonaden runden das Essen perfekt ab.

Sehr freundlicher Empfang, mega-schneller, freundlicher und aufmerksamer Service (die ersten Karaffen Wasser wurden schon auf den Tisch gestellt, während die Bestellung noch aufgenommen wurde). Die Gerichte waren sehr schmackhaft und authentisch zubereitet - die Variante "Thai scharf" verdient hier auch wirklich ihren Namen. Das Ambiente in einer Art Lagerhalle und dunkel gehaltenem Ambiente passt super, man fühlt sich fast wie ein Restaurant in Bangkok versetzt.

Mega Restaurant, versteckt auf einem Hinterhof, viele thailändische Köstlichkeiten, super nette Bedienung durch Alina, die genau weiß, was die Gäste gern essen und einen Rundum-Service bietet. Wir lieben den Laden.

Great modern Thai experience! The decor is stylish and inviting, ideal for a lovely evening. The food was excellent, especially the Pad Krapao with its authentic flavors - although I found it a bit overpriced. The service was attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a visit for fans of modern Thai cuisine!

Very cool shop. We came especially from Hildesheim and were given a very friendly welcome. The lady at reception deserves 100 stars. Very very friendly. Food was great.

I was here for the first time yesterday, there were seven of us in total. Personally, the music was too loud for me (I don't like shouting at myself while I'm eating), but otherwise a cool atmosphere, very tasty food and nice staff.

Das Jing Jing überzeugt geschmacklich sehr das Essen ist sehr gut gewürzt und lässt auch was Schärfe o.Ä keine Wünsche offen. Die Cocktails überzeugten auch sehr großes Lob an den Barkeeper ! Was leider etwas negativ aufgefallen ist, ist das der Service am Tisch teilweise Dinge vergessen oder erst mit erheblicher Wartezeit an den Tisch brachte ( was wohl dem sehr hohen Aufkommen zur Last viel) trotzdem würde ich das Jing Jing jederzeit weiterempfehlen.

We were here for the first time. Both the food and the ambience were terrific. If you want to eat something special, you've definitely come to the right place. If you could give more than five stars, we would. The great cocktails and first-class service should not be neglected either. We were particularly excited about the Espresso Martini!

Writing a review for this restaurant that has been so often praised and mentioned in the press (with the award-winning bar being the main focus) is very easy: super nice service (!!!), everything happens very quickly, the ambience is ok though Something very rustic, the food is very, very simple and, like the drinks, is far too overpriced. An example is my starter, the corn buffers described in detail on the menu for 12.90 euros. These are whole corn kernels fried and practically tasteless, with a dollop of cream on the side and spices. You have the impression of tasting bland rice cakes from the drugstore with lots of creme fraiche applied to them. If you need and want to go to a “trendy” restaurant, a visit is recommended. I know of at least 6 significantly better alternatives within a 15-minute walk for a nicer and cheaper evening. And another note about reservations: you can easily use the online service “Open Table”, but there is a big catch! You must provide a credit card when making your reservation; in the event of no-shows or cancellations less than 1 day in advance, €35 per person will be charged. Changes to the number of guests made less than 1 day in advance will also result in a fee of €35 per person. This will then simply be debited from the card. With all understanding for the situation in the catering industry and the sometimes disrespectful behavior of guests: something like that is simply not possible and will definitely put me off another visit.

Overall, it was okay. It wasn't very authentic Thai, but the atmosphere was good, the dessert was surprisingly good, and the price was fair.

Seit Monaten unser Lieblingsrestaurant. Coole Bar und außergewöhnliches Essen. Dazu noch n sehr charmanter Service.

Unser Besuch begann vielversprechend mit einer Vorspeise, die einen echten "Wow-Moment" auslöste. Leider ließ das kulinarische Erlebnis mit den Hauptgerichten etwas nach, da die Gerichte weniger aufregend und eher schlicht wirkten. Besonders enttäuschend war jedoch der Service: Die Bedienung (blond, lange Haare) fiel durch ein arrogantes Auftreten auf, was die Atmosphäre deutlich trübte und den Gesamteindruck negativ beeinflusste.

At the end of August I was in Hamburg on business and was invited to Jing Jing by my business partner. We were there with a larger group. A semi-open room with a large table was kindly reserved for us. Service staff were very nice and gave us excellent advice and service. I personally enjoyed the food very much.

The food is 4.5 out of 5 stars in terms of price-performance ratio, very high-quality dishes that sometimes have good spiciness. Tender short ribs that don't require a knife, top beef tartare and chicken wings first. The Omg Bak Highball was also very good.

Yes, if you come at 6 p.m. you have the chance to get a seat without a reservation. And yes, the bar show is simply good and entertaining because there is good, uncomplicated contact immediately. Everything about the show can now be found in my experience report on the media blog TouchYou.de... What I didn't like so much in the end was the issue with the bill, which caused a bit of confusion and contained two incorrect items. Well, it can happen. It's annoying when things go against me...

You have a maximum of 2 hours and will be informed in advance, even if you reserve a table. The food was very authentic Thai, so I felt at home. Extra plus points to the staff: They were mostly Germans who conjured up authentic Thai specialties, taste better than in most Thai restaurants. So many thanks to the team! It was super delicious, jing-jing (จริงๆ).

Enjoy your meal! Three stars, however, because of the outrageous drinks prices: PS Martini 22 euros, glass of open wine Riesling 11 euros.

We had several dishes. Papaya Salad, Pad Krapao, the Steak, the Baked Chicken, the Iberico and Sticky Rice. The main courses were all excellent. We felt like we had been transported to Bangkok and were 100% transported. The portions are similar to those in Thailand, perhaps a bit too small for Germany. The mango sticky rice was too fancy for us with the foam and ice. We like the traditional way better. But that's complaining at a very high level. After initial difficulties, the service was super friendly and attentive. For us, Thai music (like in the toilets) would have suited the restaurant even better. But otherwise everything was wonderful🤣 We'll definitely be back!

I went there with a friend for dinner the other night. The place is quite hyped, so my expectations – especially concerning the food – were high. However, it was a completely underwhelming experience food-wise and in general. I feel like that they added some sort of flavor enhancer to the food, because afterwards I felt a dryness in my mouth and thirst that was not quenched by drinking water. The aspect that bothered me the most though was the way the waiters were trying to upsell what felt like all the time. E.g. when we ordered two glasses of wine, the question straight away was: Why not make it a bottle? Quite regularly we were approached and asked whether we wanted more this, more that, more drinks – but not in a way that felt natural but more like there was some pressure there. And more than once wer were approached and asked whether we were done when it was apparent that there was still food on our plates and we were not quite done yet. We had slot around 8PM while the kitchen closes around 10PM, so we were not occupying tables while other guests were waiting to be seated. So I do not understand the whole pressure in the atmosphere. It made me feel quite uncomfortable. And the food was super greasy and seriously nothing special. I wish I could say otherwise. No need to repeat this experience.

I had high expectations, however the food was really not that great and super greasy. Felt sick afterwards and like I had eaten some flavor enhancing stuff. Place is really loud and you are interrupted by waiters way too often for my taste. It’s nothing that I can recommend. But luckily there are other opinions on this place as well. I guess everyone has to form their own opinion.

I can't explain the hype surrounding this restaurant and why it is so highly rated. There were three of us there and we ordered three dishes. The waitress was kind of listless and we had the feeling that she didn't know anything about Thai cuisine. We ordered Plaa Yang, Pad Krapao Gai and Pad Pak Bung Fai Daeng. We found Plaa Yang (half fish) for €21.30 very weak and overpriced. The prices are way too high and the portions are too small. As Thais, we didn't find the food authentic at all. We will not come here again and will not recommend this restaurant jing jing.
