Super delicious burgers and sides, including various vegan options (you have to order them at the counter, not from the vending machine). Even the drinks were perfectly dosed—not the watery Spar Coke you're used to from the big fast-food chains. Typical Blockhaus quality!

The hamburgers are delicious and reasonably priced, but unfortunately the fries were already cold when we got them. Because it was very busy, we had to wait 30 minutes for our food.

It also has vegan options, and the staff is very knowledgeable about which sauces, etc., are vegan. They even thought of not frying the burger bun in butter!

Everything frozen, nothing fresh

Never again Jim Block! What I saw today ruined my appetite. Like every week, I ate here as usual with my husband and our children. After placing our order and waiting at the counter for our food, we watched our food being prepared. I'm glad I was able to see this before continuing to visit this place with my family! The lady in the kitchen with the tattoo on her arm was topping the burgers. I had to watch as the lady smeared the sauce all over her arm, exclaimed "Yuck!", wiped the sauce off her arm with the lettuce leaf from the burger, and then put that lettuce leaf on the burger!! The burger that came out wasn't mine, but I still couldn't enjoy my meal. I'm speechless about what has become of Jimmy's.

The food was bad. We both had stomach problems afterward.

A female counter staff member (dark-haired, extremely overweight, using proletarian language) who was constantly yelling at customers unfortunately ruined my brief stop at Jim Block. Since I was waiting for my food on the patio, I couldn't hear her screams from the counter inside the restaurant. She then warned me to please—mind you, "please"—listen to her shouts in the future. I'm not sure if I've ever witnessed more outrageous behavior from service personnel as a guest—whether at McDonald's, a food truck, or elsewhere. The baked potato was also undercooked and therefore virtually inedible. Certainly never, never, never again.

Burgers are getting smaller and more expensive! And the fries don't taste nearly as good as they used to! It's gone down a lot!!!

Since they changed the sauce recipe, I personally don't like the burger 🍔 anymore.

Unfortunately, Jim Block is getting more and more expensive. €17 for a burger with a baked potato is an absurd price-performance ratio. Why they set up exactly one ordering terminal, but then have such a shortage of staff, also remains a mystery.

Yes, quite OK for a quick lunch

Definitely better than the golden M, you can definitely make it. It tastes pretty good, the buns are amazing, and everything is of good quality. I was only disappointed with the Philly cheesesteak, which didn't even come close, but it's a good homemade dish.

When your stomach is rumbling and you need a snack, that's the plan! Snacks turned into meals with burgers, drinks, and sides. Anyone who knows Jim Block knows that they stick to the tradition of baked potatoes and garlic bread. But something was a bit jarring. There was an unspeakable silence during the meal, which came from the enjoyment of the taste, or as my son said: It was a culinary delight, which led to hours of raving about it. Furthermore, the food was served at the right temperature and the preparation was obvious. The restaurant was very clean, as it should be. The prices were completely reasonable for what was on offer. One thing should be mentioned: we didn't eat anything else at home after that because we were full.

I ordered something online (already paid for) and called separately and ordered something else. Everything was recorded and everything was fine up until then. Then the boss yelled into the phone and said we don't do that...so we'd take the order by phone. Then they said you have to come here and order again verbally...what nonsense is that? Why can you order by phone everywhere, but it doesn't work here? Your explanation (excuse) is brilliant. You could order online and pick it up at the other JB? Yeah, exactly, I pay everything, then go to the other JB and have the invoices reissued? I don't think that's possible. After that excuse, I initially wanted to cancel everything on the spot...very, very strange boss who doesn't think economically but acts out of fear. Change the boss 😀

We ate here as a celebration dinner. We didn't have reservations and they took us right away. We were seated on the second floor with a great view of the area. We both ordered steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. I had the American dressing on my salad which looked and tasted like French dressing 😁. Their house made sour cream was delicious. We ate at the location near Stadt Park. There several locations around Hamburg.

The burgers and portions were a bit smaller, and I wasn't really full afterward. Still, the taste is a solid 9/10.

Dear Jim Block management, we were at your place again yesterday. Unfortunately, I have to say that the cheeseburgers we had didn't live up to Blockhaus's standards in any way. The buns were soggy, and the meat was completely dry. I've been a customer of yours for decades. You've never been this bad. We hope you improve. Best regards.

Update 04/2025 below. The review from 12/23 follows --> Hello Hello, I met Jim Block almost 10-12 years ago (at the time of this review it is 12/2023) in Othmarschen. I spread my enthusiasm to many friends and family members. "Fast food in delicious". The burgers were statements. They didn't want to please everyone, they tasted their own. In a positive sense. I tasted the love and devotion. You can try your way through the map and always have a different button. For example, with the “New York Blue Cheese”, I think it was later just called “Blue Cheese”. Be that as it may, that wasn't my case. My great cousin, on the other hand, can lie down in there. He's super sad that he keeps being dropped from the range. For him, that's the reason to eat at a Jim Block. And that’s cool, right? The menu is fun. The food keeps you full, not like (in my experience) other fast food restaurants. So why only 4 stars? Now I have to differentiate here. I rate the location Barmbek, Fuhlsbüttler Straße. My girlfriend and I went there often (far too often) but at some point the quality wasn't so good anymore. I love the classic: JB Cheese, sometimes with extra cheese. But it doesn't work for me anymore. Not even the minis, carelessly slapped together, salad seems old, patty dry... the absurd thing is: I don't have this worry when I eat in Othmarschen or at Jungferndtieg. Barmbek is losing me bite by bite. What still works for me is the JB Chicken Cheese. But I still think it's a shame. I usually eat on site. We ordered 2-3 times, it was always bad, every now and then I pick it up and keep it warm in a Stiropor box, that's fine. I do rate the on-site food, but out of fairness. 10 years ago I thought Jim Block was the best burger in town. (I didn't know the Barmbek location yet.) He is still good, but unfortunately no longer consistently at the top. This was my first visit to a Jim Block. But definitely not my last. The burger was super good. Much better than comparable burger shops. Sure it's a little more expensive, but it also looks much higher quality, is high quality and tastes great. And I personally find it funny that you get locations instead of an order number. There is definitely a reason for this but I don't know yet.

So, what I had in my Philly cheese sandwich was definitely not something I would consider a steak. It's a shame, I expected more for the price.

I tried the meatless patty and was unfortunately very disappointed. The taste is debatable, but the consistency was really unconvincing and far below the standards of other manufacturers. It doesn't feel like a real burger. I find it particularly annoying that this patty also costs €2 more than the meat version. The price-performance ratio is simply not right here.

I've been a regular customer for almost a decade. I discovered it as a teenager, and I've been drawn back to JB ever since. The concept is good: the burgers are delicious, and the side dishes and a large, cold Coke Zero round it all out. Of course, the preparation time varies depending on the number of customers. The kitchen has limited capacity, right? I'm happy to accept the extra wait. The quality is consistently good. You get used to the changes after a few orders. That's what happened to me with the bun. If the mayo was different, I noticed it right away; luckily, the old mayo always came back, or at least the taste was better :). The prices have, of course, changed over the years. I would like to see the JB Card restructured. It would be nice to be able to add points (again), as the card is often forgotten during a spontaneous visit. Perhaps a separate login to keep track of orders and points.

Delivery service disaster, something is always missing! Food ok, priced very high, even the children's menu! Service was also friendlier at times... a shame.

Very unfriendly service at the checkout. Absolutely exorbitant prices for the fact that you're served leftovers from the steakhouse next door. 20 euros for Philly cheesesteak menu with bread that was barely toasted, soggy and completely fell apart while eating. Ketchup costs extra. You're better off eating at Subway. I actually had stomach problems afterwards. Other customers have complained loudly about the varying length of the Knobi breads.

Been here again after a long time and bitterly regretted it. Had a mini cheese double menu. Fries too long, or fried again. Definitely more than crispy. But the meat on the patties was really disgusting. This no longer has anything in common with the quality of before. Tasted like a cheap burger from the gas station. What just happened here?

I don't know of any better burgers (with meat, I can't judge vegetarian). Friendly people. You can tell that everyone enjoys working there. Guest room 'rustic'. I like it.

I have been visiting this branch regularly for years and have always been satisfied with the service and food. However, a few points have emerged recently that I would like to address. Most recently I ordered a takeaway menu for which I had to wait 30 minutes. After 15 minutes I politely asked if my order had perhaps been overlooked. Another 15 minutes later the order was finally called. Unfortunately, I received neither an apology nor an offer of compensation or any other form of goodwill.

Jim Block, the fast food subsidiary of Block House, has made a name for itself in Hamburg - and rightly so. The branch I visited has an excellent location right on the main street, which makes it particularly attractive for those who are quickly hungry during their lunch break. Order & Service The modern terminal ordering is practical and enables uncomplicated selection. However, the wait was a little longer due to the lunch rush - understandable, but not ideal if you're short on time. Calling out a name instead of a number is a personal touch that stands out positively. Ambiance A big plus point is the cleanliness of the location. Compared to other fast food chains, the branch looks tidy and well-kept - a pleasant place for a quick lunch break. The Food Philly Steak Menu. The bread: Fluffy and pleasant to the bite, but unfortunately cut too deeply, which caused unnecessary mess when biting off. The steak: Excellently seasoned and fried to perfection – a highlight of the dish. The sauce: The taste was okay, but a little too reserved for my taste. A touch more spiciness would have rounded the whole thing off. The side dish: The cucumber slices in the small bowl were rather disappointing. They seemed uninspired and added nothing to the meal - there is room for improvement here. The JB bread: Unfortunately a downer. It was in the oven a little too long, which made it slightly dry on the top. It also lacks the incomparable taste of the classic Block House bread. Conclusion Overall, a solid fast food experience that scores particularly well with its central location and decent ambience. There are light and shadows in terms of taste, but the quality of the steak and the cleanliness set Jim Block apart from many competitors. It's a good choice for a quick bite, even if minor weaknesses spoil the impression. I will definitely come back to try more dishes.

I've been going here for years, everything has actually always been quite good, except today I order my food via Ubereat and shortly afterwards they cancel my order themselves but say that it was Ubereat even though I have confirmation, see attached picture that it was from Jim Block himself. The would-be manager who didn't have the balls to say it was himself tried to talk his way out of it instead of giving my order. Finally I paid without getting anything. Again, I didn't even want my money back, I just wanted my order for what I paid for, but okay, unfortunately it was very cheeky! Then he comes with me, I'll ban you from the house, blah blah blah!

The store and the prices were quite fair 5 years ago. Now the weirdos even charge 80 cents for ketchup. Fries are cold and hard and the garlic bread is getting smaller too. . I advise everyone to go to a different restaurant.

Soggy burgers and unfriendly staff. :/ Staff at the register was spreading bad vibes in the kitchen. Bad vibes should not be near food. We tried the new double cheeseburger. The lower part of the bun was completely soggy and the burger kind of underwhelming for its price. When I asked about the double cheeseburger at the counter, she snapped at me in an unfriendly manner, pointing out that there is a sign outside where it was dark and rainy. Not how a customer should be treated. I can't recommend this place. The overall dining experience was just meh. Fries were ok.

We have actually always been regular customers at Jim Block in Barmbek for many years. But now we have been very disappointed once again. Ordered today: 2 Champion Burger menu, 1x with fries, 1x with baked potatoes. Additionally, a mixed salad, 2 garlic breads and a small extra paddy. The burgers were only lukewarm, very little champions and a completely soggy bun. The extra paddy was totally hard, no longer juicy at all. The worst: The fries were cold. (complained, but only received new ones lukewarm) The baked potato was soft and cooked, but cold. As soon as the food was served there was chaos (burgers, fries were mixed up, bread was initially forgotten). For a price of over 20 euros per person, this is fine Price-performance ratio no longer.🥴

The shop is empty! Does the operator not notice why? Doesn't anyone ever do a test meal? The grill times are too long! Everything is dry! I'll save you the prefix with F! Waiting times are too long; Previously good staff has apparently said goodbye. The whole chain is doomed. That's not how it works. There's hardly anything going on next to the State Opera; years ago long queues; Vapiano has shown how it will happen.

I've never been tempted to give such a negative review, but after a really bad visit to the BlockHouse on Jungfernstieg in the summer, we gave Block another try on the way home today. We took some food with us - I don't know where to start - praise in advance, the lady at the checkout was the only one who seemed to have an overview, the gentlemen in the kitchen all looked sullen - the food was one Disaster! We had the Philly Cheese menu with the Philly Cheese Fries- which had 2 teaspoons of sauce on it when it came up and the meat was dry and countable, actually it was just mostly very dry fries- there was also a lot of the Philly Cheese on it Meat was very manageable, the main ingredient was the bread, which was super dry - I think €25 for that is very exaggerated, even in this day and age. We definitely won't eat there again.

Totally overrated, for the price you could go to a good burger shop and not a German type of fast food no better than macdonalds or burger king which is much more expensive. The food is as usual, upscale fast food. In my opinion it tastes good and is made direct to order. Service varies from person to person, the cashier was very nice, her replacement seemed clearly stressed when serving the food.

I've been a customer of Jim Block Barmbek for 20 years now and unfortunately I have to mention something negative, because if you increase the prices you shouldn't make the burgers smaller. The citizens still taste great but the burgers used to be much bigger like a mini cheeseburger.

I would be happy to respond to Jim Block's answer regarding suggestions for improvement... There's no question that the food is really tasty, I just think the portion sizes are a bit too small, especially your patties. The price is correspondingly far too high, unfortunately. It would also make sense and be customer-oriented if there were ketchup and mayo bottles on the tables. It's too expensive and way too little if you sell small packages of ketchup, other restaurants do it better. With these high menu prices, at least that should be included.

The food and the staff at the front are great, but unfortunately the toilets are a complete disaster and really disgusting. I think the interval should perhaps be adjusted more often, as it seemed as if they hadn't been cleaned in a while?

Seats available. A counter for ordering, but also an order terminal on site. It's debatable about taste (especially when it comes to burgers), so everyone should make up their own mind. My family is divided.

I still think Jim Block is the best burger chain, which is probably because there aren't tons of branches like competitors with franchisees. It always tastes a touch fresher than the competition. I love the JB Regional. It is also a piece of childhood memory. The branch here is not as huge as others, which helps the quality.

Been to Jim Block for the first time and I have to say the burgers 🍔 are really tasty 🤤. The cool thing is you can design your burger 🍔 the way you want it. Fries 🍟 and garlic bread 🍞 were also delicious. The only thing that bothers me is the price for 40 grams of mayo/ketchup. The store 🏬 clean and well maintained. On-site parking is a bit more difficult. Paying is easy on the order monitor. Bar or card 💳 both are possible and the staff on site are also very friendly. You would have liked a little dessert 🍮 😚😝

The food was log cabin standard good, my opinion Refreshing cranberry spritzer. Otherwise, I think the store is a bit old and not very refreshing. I think it just needs to be a little more modern, brighter and fresher visually.

I ordered the JB salad menu. The salad was fresh and the chicken was nicely grilled. The dressing was very tasty. The mushrooms on the side were also well fried. The order was taken quickly and the food was prepared quickly. I will gladly come again.
