Food okay, prices somewhat high in some cases

I've never had a bad experience here before, but today I thought, "What's going on?!" My wife has a stomach problem, so we asked if she could use the restroom, and I ordered some food while I was there. When my wife asked the employee at the counter about the restroom, his answer was, "You're in the way, please move aside." After he'd handed over the food, I asked again, a bit more insistently, and got the answer, "If you don't order anything, there's no restroom." All in all, that was my last visit here. It's a real shame that one person can ruin the reputation of an otherwise excellent place like this...

If you compare the taste with McDonald's, then McDonald's stands on the sidelines and nervously smokes.

The quality of the goods here is significantly better than at the big, well-known chains! Hats off to the South Oldenburg patriarch! :-)

I ordered online from Jim Block and was very disappointed. The delivery took over an hour, and the food arrived completely cold. I also tried to get help by phone, but no one could really help me. For the price and the restaurant's reputation, I expected much more. I cannot recommend them.

It was busy but otherwise quite good. The burger was great as always, except the men's toilet with PIN didn't work. After six correct PIN entries, the staff treated me like an idiot and offered no further help.

The store wasn't too busy in the afternoon. Nevertheless, they suddenly announced that the till could no longer be staffed (the customer in front of us was able to order everything, but we couldn't!) and directed us to the self-service kiosks. Since there were 12 people behind us, a huge queue formed there as well, and we naturally stayed at the till. After all, we had already waited for more than 15 minutes and would have been next in line! An unfriendly employee then explained a little later that the counter was no longer staffed at all, even though the number of dishes ordered was minimal. He also rudely pointed out several times that he didn't have four hands! I will certainly be giving this store a wide berth in the future! The one star is only for the very friendly and helpful security staff!

Exceptional service! The food was good and delicious, and the price was very reasonable. We recommend getting a seat upstairs. It's much quieter and more comfortable than downstairs. But I especially want to highlight the service. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. When someone dropped their tray (with the fresh food), they immediately took care of cleaning it and arranged for a replacement. The friendly staff is a real asset to the entire restaurant!

I visited this place because it was said to be a great German burger place. The burgers were a bit smaller than Five Guys, but they were delicious. The prices weren't cheap. I would definitely return.

Disrespectful treatment and unhealthy food

You can bypass the ordering machines and order directly from the friendly staff, paying in cash. There are changing specials (discounted). Ketchup and mayonnaise are charged separately.

Hello 💕 I ordered the new steak sandwiches :) and the first time I was amazed at how much meat they had, but unfortunately the second time there was incredibly little :(

I've been here several times, and it's always great. I love the BBQ and Caesar burger; unfortunately, the blue cheese is no longer available. But the side dishes are also delicious.

I was here today and ate a steak hamburger. The meat was very tough and had a lot of tendons; I couldn't eat it, and there was even a piece of plastic attached. I'll never go here again.

An average burger with fries, a side salad, and a 0.3l Coke for almost €20.00 is quite a lot. There are better alternatives. It's just a chain restaurant. The staff was attentive, but unfortunately, one employee skipped washing his hands after using the customer restroom and continued working diligently. A no-go for me, and therefore I wouldn't recommend it.

The food was definitely not what it used to be... It had no flavor at all and was extremely salty. I generally don't eat salty food... When I complained, I wasn't even offered an alternative. Overall, I'm very dissatisfied and won't be coming back.

I chose the burger with local meat, and it was really good. Overall, I'd rate it among the top five burgers in Hannover. The price of 17 euros with thin, tasty fries and a drink is probably standard for this quality.

We ordered from Jim Block via Uber Eats. One of the burgers came with a beefless patty for an extra €2, but unfortunately, the burger was completely inedible. It tasted absolutely terrible and was thrown away. The bun on the veggie burger was also completely soggy.

Hello, I was going to have dinner there with a friend and we wanted to use the restroom beforehand. My "nice" colleague then told me that my way of asking wasn't acceptable and suggested I go somewhere else to use the restroom. Conclusion: I didn't go there for dinner.

Good selection, but the service is poor. You're not allowed to try on the right shoe for security reasons.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. The vegetarian burger patty wasn't particularly tasty and completely fell apart. The fries were also quite dry. The customer restroom is only accessible once you've received your food, as you only receive the door code that way. The lock only worked after you tried to enter it three times.

Everything is quite nice, but the burgers are incredibly small for the price. Right next door is Five Guys, much cheaper and more for more flavor. But what's absolutely unacceptable: There were four long hairs in my patty! When I asked if I could get a new burger, I was told not to make such a fuss. I won't get a new burger until I pay for one. Never again, disgusting behavior.

If you order a double cheeseburger for 12€ you get a mini cheeseburger with two patties instead of one which actually only costs 4€

Nope. The burger was so greasy and the fries were practically wet that you wouldn't want to touch it. The fries were a total disaster. Service was very friendly and the ketchup was a decent portion.

I find the mayonnaise in a plastic container very impractical. Furthermore, they could install a display for pickup. The portions could be larger for the price.

Complaint about rude behavior of an employee and a faulty door code system Dear JimBlock Team, I have been a loyal customer of your Kröpcke branch in Hanover for a long time. Yesterday, I placed a large order at your restaurant and, as always, was very satisfied with the food – compliments to the kitchen! However, during my visit, I needed to use the restroom and asked for the access code. Unfortunately, the code didn't work either upstairs or in the men's restroom. Several guests had the same problem and had to hold the door open for each other to even enter. When I politely addressed the problem with one of your employees – a blond man with a beard – I received a rude and mocking response. He claimed there had been no problems with the door system all day. However, this was obviously not true, as many other guests were also unable to use the code. This employee's behavior was extremely inappropriate and disrespectful to paying guests. A professional and customer-oriented approach is essential in the restaurant industry—especially when the entire team is financed by guest revenue. I hope you take this matter seriously and take appropriate action. Jim Block at Kröpcke is my absolute favorite restaurant. I can only give positive reviews. I don't know where to start. The food is excellent and you can enjoy it very well. The price of the restaurant is also positive. The portions are appropriate, the staff and service are also excellent. I enjoy coming here to eat with my friends.

Definitely! I had a salad. Jim Block Salad. It was super tasty. My companion an oven quark potato and a veggie burger. Was also very satisfied.

The JB is very central. The time from ordering to the finished meal was rapid. It really surprised us. The process is reminiscent of the golden M. Only here you can pick up and take away the food yourself. What we liked was that everything was served on porcelain and there were real glasses for drinking and not cardboard cups.

Sat next to someone who was crying at dinner. We spontaneously saw each other again in the men's toilet, whereupon the gentleman turned around and urinated at full speed on my shoes. Gladly again.

Unfortunately my visit to Jim Block in Hanover was a disappointment. The lady at the checkout was absolutely unfriendly. She was obviously having a bad day and took her bad mood out on the customers. There was no “hello,” “thank you,” or “please” – just no friendliness at all. Her behavior was very rude and unprofessional. Such a service leaves a bad impression and should urgently be improved.

If you go up to the second floor, you can have a meal while looking at the building. The double burger is light and Jb Reginal is a teriyaki/barbecue style sauce. As for hamburgers... just like that. The French fries in the set menu were good, and if you replace it with bread, it's garlic bread, but it's not sweet and salty. I'm craving beer Jb reginal intends to eat again. (People who like light food say double is better)

Absolutely recommendable. I really enjoyed going there when the place first opened 10 years ago. Even after ages, it's still top-notch. The ordering system is classic, just like it was back then, but you can also order from a modern counter. The staff is super friendly. The food is still perfect. The baked potato, garlic bread, and mushroom burger are amazing. The only downside is that the restrooms are now locked with a code. (Understandable in the city center), but it would be nice if this were clearly visible downstairs.

The ambiance and service are as pleasant as ever, but the last time I was there was almost six years ago, and you can really tell the difference in the food. Back then, I got a burger with about 300g of real meat for 10 to 11 euros, with a generous amount of fries and a drink. This time, I paid 22 euros. The meal was just ready-made, the drink was smaller, and the side dish, a cucumber salad, was three slices of cucumber with a bit of vinegar and pepper, disappointingly small. It used to be a really good place, but it's definitely not worth a visit anymore.

Ordered Philly Cheese Steak and it was really cool. Expensive but you can do it.

Last Sunday, the day of the football derby in Hanover, the crowds at lunchtime were huge. But a young employee at the checkout and counter delivered a performance that is second to none. Despite 15-20 customers waiting in front of the counter, children scurrying around, parents with falling trays and a high level of noise, she always maintained an overview with impressive speed, ease and humor. The mood among me and the waiting customers remained good the whole time because we were all able to follow "live" how the employee kept everything running with obvious fun and a lot of energy. While others would have long since lost control under such stress, she mastered the situation with incredible energy and still found kind words for every guest. The shop was buzzing, but the atmosphere remained relaxed – and that was largely due to her. While I was waiting, I discovered a book about company founder Eugen Block behind the counter. Maybe the management should instead think about a biography of this dynamic employee. I am convinced that this woman has a good understanding of people and would definitely have a lot of exciting things to say. I would buy a book like this in a heartbeat!

My Philly steak burger in the dish for 20.60 euros was inedible. The cut meat was still unchewable but the salinity could not be overcome even with a beer bottle. Half of the food went in the trash because it was completely inedible due to salt. Even the visually attractive presentation in pictures and the beautiful onions and other ingredients cannot be individually fathomed. I really wanted to experience hunger-led pleasure. But I had already told myself three times that I would never go to JIM BLOCK again like I did in the Hamburg branches. So chefs note that instead of chatting and flirting with staff, they concentrate on food. The offerer says that "the salinization" was not intentional. But I'm not so sure about that. There was enough time to see glances wandering - here the chefs were supposed to be relieved from the sight of the customers. More bright light/light islands in the cooking area would also be an advantage, as would a person who monitors the actions and the process in order to counteract self-absorbed negligence on the part of forearm tattoo wearers in a professional environment. Yesterday (Sunday lunchtime, March 2nd, 2025) we went to “Jim Block” at Kröpcke with our 7-year-old grandson and had a really great experience. This was mainly due to the two young employees at the cash register and at the serving counter - they were exceptionally nice and warm to our grandson and took a lot of time to respond to his wishes, were patient, very helpful and had a good sense of humor. When he couldn't decide on the gift additions for the children's menu, they showed him all the items so that he could choose in peace. Since we had a table near the counter, we were able to observe that the two employees always remained friendly and personable, even when there were larger crowds and obviously annoying customers. In our experience, such natural warmth is unfortunately rarely found in Germany today. The range of high-quality burgers in Hanover is now large, and there is hardly any difference in price. But such committed and friendly employees, who inspire both children and adults with their personalities, are a real rarity. Instead, in many restaurants you only experience a fake, probably trained friendliness that is stubbornly rattled off. We very much hope that "Jim Block" will be able to continue to motivate these two excellent employees sufficiently in the future - because that's exactly what makes the difference!

Spontaneously went to Jim Block in the afternoon looking for a burger. Ordering was easy via an order terminal. After about 10 minutes I received my order. The burger is a decent size and has a good taste. The fries were also crispy and hot. I'll be happy to come back.

I just ordered the ceaser menu with a veggie patty and what can I say! Never again! Every time I regret the visit (I've already tried many menus). Bread and patty way too wobbly. One star for the crispy fries and one star for the nice staff. Sorry, just fries to go.

I had dinner with you again today and I have to say, it hasn't been as bad as today in years. Food: Bacon on the burger was soggy, I ordered a slice of cheese extra and paid for it but didn't get it. The burger was also cold! Fries were ok. Your tables are dirty and the toilets are terrible! Starting with the buttons on the door pin, which I don't think have ever been cleaned. It's disgusting! You don't even dare to type in the pin because you're afraid of catching a number of diseases. The toilets are peed and dirty. I think I was with you for the last time. I enjoyed going to Jim Block for many years, but your store has become a real disaster. Too bad!

Very tasty burgers with thick handmade patties made from regional meat. The buns are freshly made and deliciously topped. The price is reasonable for the quality. The waiting time was short and the service was extremely friendly. We'll definitely be back!

The unfriendly employees made us wait at the checkout for 30 minutes and then said that the checkout wasn't working and that we would have to wait even longer and insulted us as stupid brats just because we wanted more information about why we were waiting so long.

Regional burger was 5/5, hamburger made vegan with the meatless patty was 3/5 (served a bit cold, the patty itself was great though) and the fries were decent BUT tiny portion for the price, definitely not worth 4€ for a tiny bowl

I find waiting in the entrance area or in front of the counter and then calling out the code name a bit unpleasant. We ate at Jim Block's again after a long time, and yes the burgers have become significantly smaller and the prices have risen significantly, it's probably gradually becoming a system everywhere, but it still tastes good.
