Jannis in Frankfurt am Main

We've eaten there once before. The staff were friendly, and the place is a very comfortable place to eat. Unfortunately, the food is a problem. The dishes aren't particularly well presented and lacked salt and (generally) seasoning. Our dessert came in small plastic bowls. It really hurts me because we felt so comfortable, but the food just wasn't good.

Disappointing! Our main courses were served quite a bit apart; the pork on my souvlaki skewer was overcooked, bone-dry, and "firm to the bite." After the waiter spilled some of my wife's drink, the table was wiped down, but it was still wet... Conclusion: Don't bother!

The waitress doesn't speak a word of German. We order without salad. There's salad on the plate. The dolmadakia are from a can. Don't order it if you want to get canned food. The gyro meat is super tough. The tzatziki and the paprika paste are also all from a can, as is the coleslaw. They simply don't make anything fresh or homemade. Disgusting place. Never again.

Super delicious Greek restaurant. Very attentive, fast, and super friendly service. The food is freshly prepared in the open kitchen and is incredibly delicious. The decor is also very stylish. Great concept.

The food was unloving; starters were piled onto plates. Smaller bowls would have been appropriate. The taste of the starter could have been much better. I returned my entire main course after one forkful 🙈 Melted eggplant with tomatoes/peppers/salsa & kritharaki sounded delicious, but the result was truly beyond words. Bland, tasteless, and lacking in pizzazz. I've never had a meal like this before. My husband had octopus, but he only ate part of it. Also unloving and tasteless. When I got the bill, I naively thought the eggplant dish wouldn't be counted. But the waitress said: the chef gives instructions that even if the plates are returned in their entirety, they will be charged. I can understand that now, as otherwise he wouldn't make any sales. Tip: the chef should get culinary ideas from other restaurants.

Near, friendly greek restaurant with decent delicious food. The restaurant comes in a modern, but cosy style where you enjoy resting for a while. I had a wonderful eggplant dish and my husband chose gyros, both dishes very recommendable. We came quite late (almost midnight), but the service was still very friendly. Opening hours convinced us as they are open until 2 am. My husband is Greek so he's picky with what he calls good greek food. But Jannis convinced.

It was very nice here. The food was good, and the service was great. We'd be happy to come back.

I'm eating here more and more often. I always like that the lunch special changes every day. Especially for the price of €9.90, and there's always a vegetarian option. I can only recommend this top-notch restaurant.

Actually, it used to be very good because it wasn't that expensive because we used to live near there, it was our second living room, now we've moved anyway and live far away. We always have to take the train because it's just too far to walk and unfortunately it's just become expensive because we're still there sometimes, that's why I know that but the service is nice (Jannis and Co.) and the food is actually tasty but sorry too expensive that's why four stars

Nice atmosphere, a modern rustic Greek, could have been good. Service was very friendly, despite minor mistakes (forgetting food, that can happen, no cutlery and napkins shouldn't happen) unfortunately we didn't really like the food. Calamari was cold on the outside, eggplant puree was a bit bitter, chicken souflaki was dry. Unfortunately it wasn't as expected. Too bad.

Gyros recommended! In general, Greek food in this fuel has an authentic flavor. The restaurant was remodeled and its atmosphere is warm. It is located close to metro and tram stations. The taste of their meals is very delicious.

Wie waren schon häufig bei Jannis und waren immer sehr zufrieden. Dass Essen ist sehr schmackhaft, der Service perfekt, sehr familiäre und angenehme Atmosphäre.

Enttäuschender Besuch bei Jannis. Wir bestellten Giros und Souflaki. Giros sollten kleine Streifen sein und keine Fleischstücke, die ich bekommen habe. Erschwerend kam hinzu, dass das Fleisch furchtbar zäh war und sich kaum schneiden ließ. Das Souflaki war nicht besser und trocken. Ohne Liebe auf dem Teller präsentiert. Jannis, du musst dich verbessern, sonst wird es nicht gut.

The two main courses (souvlaki & octopus) were okay, but the dessert (tiramisu) was clearly not homemade but supermarket product.

A friendly host, good food - I just thought the meat portions were a bit too big - and an attractive, open atmosphere. A ray of hope in the Ostend!

I highly recommend this restaurant! Everything we ordered was delicious, original presentation, large portions, I want to say that all the products from which the food is made are very high quality and fresh! Pleasant atmosphere, very nice at home! I had a short trip to Frankfurt, but I did everything to return to this restaurant 😂 and it was delicious again and these were new dishes! Super!

An inconspicuous restaurant from the outside with a very beautiful, traditionally Greek interior. The waitress was very friendly and brought the beautifully prepared lunch menu to our table in less than 10 minutes. The restaurant invites you to linger and the prices seem as if you haven't heard of inflation before. The taste absolutely exceeded our expectations for the price. The food was also very easy to digest. We'd love to come back.

We were looking for a quick lunch for under 10 euros and found it at Jannis. The food was delicious, plentiful and the price was really reasonable. We'll try this more often, especially since the offerings on the lunch menu sound really interesting and invite you to try them out - for example this: spinach walnut cannelloni with gorgonzola on wild herb salad with pickled beets

The atmosphere is totally informal and uncomplicated, simply relaxed. The food was delicious and varied. I particularly enjoyed the lamb. The service was good and Jannis was there too. We had a very nice chat. Gladly again.

The food was mediocre at best and overly expensive. Paid around €50 for three starters and two beers. Absurd! Especially since some of the starters (e.g. Gigantes or Dolmadakia) obviously came from a can and were not homemade. This doesn't have much to do with "authentic Greek cuisine". My opinion as a Greek. At least everyone was nice.

We were in the mood for Grischich and googled it...we found Jannis, the joke: diagonally across from the hotel. Perfect. One review said snack... If this Jannis place is a snack bar (around 45 seats) then it is the best snack bar I have ever visited. Great ambience, incredibly sweet and attentive service and a boss (Jannis) who I wanted to adopt immediately. The food (gyros) was more than sufficient and tasty. Only the tzatziki was stiff, white and dead... (sorry) but that totally ripped out the paprika tapenade. Salt and pepper mills were also placed on the table. We've never been there before, but it was an evening with friends. Thank you very much for that and good luck to you.🤗

A nice facility, friendly service, unfortunately not enough staff in service, Gyros subterraneanly bad. Almost cold, completely dried out, cut into thick chunks. One could have said that the skewer was not fresh and offered an alternative...

There were four of us here, me Giros ordered. Unfortunately the dish only arrived lukewarm. The service was very nice, the atmosphere was more like a snack bar. The restaurant was very well attended. But I won't go there anymore.

Wir waren zum 1. Mal hier - aber sicher nicht zum Letzten! Der Service war hervorragend, herzlich und zuvorkommend! Das Essen war super, nicht typisch „deutsch - griechisch“ in Knoblauch, fett und Gewürzen ertränkt.. sonder frisch, lecker und wirklich authentisch. Man fühlt sich wie in einem Wohnzimmer / Esszimmer, gemütlich.

The place is good and so is the food. The prices are ok (not cheap but not expensive either).

Stopped by today to have a quick lunch. Had the braised beef burger with red cabbage. Portions are more than sufficient and the price for a lunch of €8.90 is simply GREAT! Ambiance very cozy. Service 1+ with * This restaurant is definitely recommended. We will be back. See you soon!

Das Essen war sehr lecker, der Service gut und aufmerksam. Der Gastraum ist klein aber sehr sauber und aufgeräumt. Leider stehen die Tische sehr eng beisammen und der Geräuschpegel ist sehr hoch. Die offene Küche macht einen sehr guten Eindruck. Ich werde jederzeit wieder kommen.

Wunderbares Abend mit Freunde in eine gemütliche Atmosphäre

Leider war es dieses mal sehr laut aus dem Kochbereich und ein extrem unangenehmer Geruch von verbranntem Fett im gesamten Raum, z. T. brannten die Augen. Das hat das Ambiente leider getrübt. Das Essen war wie gewohnt gut.

Von außen unscheinbar, sieht aus wie eher eine Imbissbude. Drinnen aber ganz nett, vlt. Etwas hell. Das Essen ist leider nur Mittelmaß. Die Preise sind aber für einen Griechen relativ niedrig, vor allem in Frankfurt.

Man fühlt sich wie im Wohnzimmer. Das Essen ist mega lecker und die Bedienung super freundlich.

Wir hatten hier unsere Weihnachtsfeier, das Essen, ich hatte Fisch, war sehr Gut. Ist eher eine Vereins Gaststätte, es waren viele Leute vom Tennis Verein nebenan zum Bier trinken da. Leider gab es nicht soviele Service Kräfte und daher kam es das ein oder andere Mal zu längeren Wartezeiten.

Alles super. Kleiner feiner Laden mit leckeren Gerichten! Nachtisch sehr empfehlenswert.

Schöner Abend, mit gutem griechischem Essen, im moderner Atmosphäre.

Die offene Küche führt leider dazu, dass es die ganze Zeit nach fett riecht. In meinem Frikadellen mit Feta war so wenig Feta, dass ich gefragt habe, ob sie den vergessen haben. Leider geizen sie sehr mit den Zutaten, obwohl man bereit wäre einen Aufpreis zu zahlen z. B. für eine doppelte Portion.

Netter Service, vielleicht etwas näher am Gast wäre schön. Essen für den Preis ok, mehr aber auch nicht.Wartezeit viel zu lange, durch die offene Küche hat unsere Kleidung leider nach Küche gerochen.

Leckeres Essen zu fairen Preisen. Mir hat es sehr gut gefallen.

Sehr nette Bedienung, leider wurde der gegrillte Tintenfisch nicht gegrillt , sondern gekocht reserviert. Auf Nachfrage beim Koch, ob er diesen nicht nochmal auf den Grill legen könnte , antwortete dieser , der Tintenfisch wäre schon 1,5 Stunden vorgekocht und es wäre seine Art so zu kochen !!! Dann sollte in der Karte nicht „gegrillt“, sondern auch gekocht stehen ! Der Tintenfisch hat uns allen überhaupt nicht geschmeckt . Schade , denn die Bedienung war sehr zuvorkommend und das Lokal sehr schön eingerichtet !

Good food, friendly waiters, well decorated dining room

Sehr angenehmes Ambiente, eine begrenzte aber dennoch sehr abwechslungsreiche Speisekarte mit Gerichten, die schmackhafte, reichhaltige Alternativen zu den griechischen Standardgerichten bietet und das zu sehr fairen Preisen. Tolle Entdeckung, die meisten griechischen Restaurants könnten sich hier mal inspirieren lassen.

Ärgerlicher Abend. Wir fühlten uns vom Wirt vom Eintritt an nach "Nasenfaktor" behandelt, wie wir bei nachfolgenden Gästen erkennen mussten. Der Hauptgang kam deutlich zu früh und war da bereits nur mäßig warm, während wir noch klar erkennbar mitten beim Essen unseres Vorspeisentellers waren. "Abgefertigt werden" trifft unseren Eindruck am besten. Die Essensqualität selbst war gut, nicht überdurchschnittlich und für uns nicht geeignet, unsere negativen Eindrücke zu relativieren. Auch wenn die junge Servicekraft sehr freundlich und bemüht war, zu retten, was nicht zu retten war: Wir werden diesem Restaurant und seinem Wirt keine 2.Chance geben, auch wenn jedem ein "schlechter Abend" zugestanden sein mag.

Super netter Besitzer, immer für einen Schnack zu haben. Das Essen ist lecker, allerdings könnte das Menü sich monatlich ein wenig abwechseln und die Bierpreise könnten geringer sein.

Unfortunately a big disappointment. Seeing good reviews I was expecting tasty food, but unfortunately everything tasted like it was bought in the store… I even saw them taking out big storebought bag with pita bread. We asked for a glass of wine and I saw a huge bottel (more like a canister) of something that looked like super cheap wine… even the food presentation was very ugly. unfortunately such a lovely environment with such a bad food I haven’t seen for a while.

When you offer octopus grilled an it’s only fried, it makes the difference.

Aufgrund der Empfehlung hier in TripAdvisor sind wir an einem Samstag Abend hier gelandet. Wir bestellten die gemischte Vorspeisenplatte. Geschmacklich war das gut bis leicht über dem Durchschnitt. Lediglich der Tzatziki war etwas zu säuerlich und ohne Gurken. Die lagen großzügig daneben. Als Hauptgänge bestellten wir die Hähnchenspieße und den gegrillten Oktopus. Das Hähnchenfleisch war etwas zu stark gesalzen, ansonsten mundete es mir. Der Oktopus war leider frittiert und nicht wie auf der Karte ausgeschrieben gegrillt. Außerdem schwamm er in einem See aus Olivenöl. Das frische Pide-Brot war angehm frisch und lecker Die Karte ist übersichtlich. Es gibt 10 Hauptgerichte. Nichts ausgefallenes, solide griechische Küche. Über die Einrichtung lässt sich das gleiche sagen. Das Personal war sehr höflich und aufmerksam. Wegen dem falsch ausgeschriebenen Oktopus zogen wir einen Punkt ab. Die diversen andere Kleinigkeiten führten zu einem weiteren Punktabzug.

Ich liebe Kreta und habe mich bei Jannis direkt wie im einer Taverne gefühlt! Efaristo
