We like to come here during the week for a game of cards. On the weekend, however, things get very busy in the pub.

Very nice atmosphere and drink selection. Friendly and welcoming staff could also give suggestions on what to drink/try. The food is also very tasty, especially the chicken burger. Best Guinness in Bonn, always fresh from the tap :)

The pub is really extremely rustic - in addition to a classic taproom with a bar, there are adjoining rooms with nooks and crannies , cozy and quiet corners. Ideal for groups. However, the interior is extremely “worn out” and getting old, but still quite OK. You should definitely avoid the toilets, they are very dirty and simply disgusting. The beer is great, as you would expect from an Irish pub. An absolute low point is the food. Even by pub standards! Extremely bad - the citizen was dry, carelessly prepared and the ingredients between the two flabby cheapest buns were indefinable. It should be a “bacon burger”… I think any ready-made burger at Aldi is much better, as it only costs a fraction. You would be banned from entering Belgium for life for the fries. I had previously had “Fish & Chips”, which was even more terrible and far too expensive for heated, frozen mass-produced food. A pity! Why does that have to be so bad? I don't expect a star menu, but good quality food that's appropriate for the price. Well, you don't seem to have a real chef - but with a little practice and a few recipes from "Chefkoch" it would work. By the way, the service is super nice! Nevertheless, I will come back - but first eat somewhere else and empty my bladder.

It's always nice to be there when you're in the 'old home'. Good beer and whiskey, food is great too.

Very cozy pub! I was able to reserve there for a larger number of people (25 people) without any problems. The service was great and I would book there again at any time!

Always the last stop to end a good evening with a few Mexicans and pale ales. The atmosphere is right, the beer is good, but what I always like best is the acoustics - the place can be full but you can still hear everyone at the table.

Actually a nice pub. We were there with a larger birthday group and couldn't all fit at one table. No problem as everything around was occupied. However, when a table became available, we were not allowed to sit there as it was supposed to be left free for potential customers. So unfortunately we had to stop and decided to leave and be potential customers somewhere else.

Classic Irish pub whose beer supplies leave nothing to be desired. Great atmosphere, for those interested the World Cup is usually on and there is delicious food while the kitchen is open. A karaoke machine is coming soon! Since the handsome and nice waiter with the mohawk arrived, my girlfriend no longer lets me go there alone.

Very crowded and loud (weekends) waitresses very stressed therefore a bit rude. Good selection of drinks. What was super annoying was that at some point there were crowds of people standing around in front of the bar. That made everything more crowded and louder... And the waiters couldn't get through either.

Very nice Irish pub. The right side is more beautiful than the left. There are a few small alcoves with comfortable armchairs. Very quaint. Guinness is good. Service very nice. Prices OK.

I had the worst experience ever. Yesterday I go there to grab a drink with my friends. As soon as we sit down the waiter asks us whether we were Erasmus students, which we aren’t. At that point hearing that we were not Germans he tells us that we’re not allowed to sit downstairs because international students have to go upstairs. After telling the waiter that even though we’re not Germans we should still have the right to sit as normal people in the bar, the waiter goes away and calls another waiter who comes to tell us that since we’re international we’re not allowed to stay and if we want to drink something we can only do so upstairs. Not to keep on discussing we leave the bar. Rarely I have met such rude, closed minded and xenophobic people in my life. I’m very disappointed and hurt by such behaviors, and I’m sure I’ll never go to this bar again.

Hmmm, what can I say. Unfortunately, I don't think it can go beyond "It's OK". The James Joyce has been around for many years and I used to love going there too. However, unfortunately things have not developed for the better. On our last visit we were a group of about 10 people... And we were given 2 menus... they were no longer up to date... Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for drinks or for anyone to come at all... the table was greasy/sticky... toilets were just ok... The steakhouse fries were tasteless and rather limp on the outside. The potato wedges with curd were very tasty. All in all, it was okay, but there was still room for improvement. Prices are ok. If the above doesn't bother you, you'll definitely have a wonderful evening there! :)

Went there as a group for a birthday. Unfortunately, the “chief waiter” (?) was super unfriendly. Engaged in discussions with several guests. You don't have to go there anymore - there are better shops in Bonn.

Beliebter Irish Pub in einer Seitenstraße der Bonner Innenstadt. Publikum überwiegend Twens. Ambiente im Erdgeschoss typisch Irish Pub. Im Obergeschoss eher Jugendzentrum mit Kicker, Dart etc.. In beiden Etagen nette und lockere Atmosphäre. Daumen hoch!

Einfach perfekt, im allen, Preis Leistung, Ambiente, Mitarbeiter..... Wir kommen definitiv wieder. Danke für diesen tollem Abend 😀

Netter Irish Pub mit sehr entspannter Atmosphäre. Hier kann man prima mit Freunden was trinken gehen aber auch zu Essen gibt es hier einiges leckeres und vergleichsweise recht preiswertes. Gemäß den Öffnungszeiten lässt es sich hier also auch gut zu Abend essen. Es gibt jede Menge Irisches Bier, Cidre, Whiskey und ähnliche alkoholische aber auch sehr viele alkoholfreie Getränke. Preise sind absolut akzeptabel. Man wird am Tisch bedient oder kann an die Bar gehen. Das Mobiliar ist zwar etwas veraltet aber dennoch sehr gemütlich.

Eine super urige Kneipe mit gutem Essen. Die Bierauswahl ist so groß, dass die Entscheidung schwer fällt. Und das direkt in der Bonner Innenstadt. Immer wieder gerne!

Wir haben als geschlossene Gesellschaft eine Hochzeit in kleinem Kreis gefeiert. Wir hatten im 1.OG zwei Räume für uns, da hatten wir Tische für die Geschenke, Kuchen und Essen, Stehtische und auch eine Couch Ecke. Die Pizzen und Flammkuchen waren lecker, haben aber immer ganz schön lang gedauert. Wir wurden von Jan bedient, er hat seinen Job richtig gut gemacht und hat bestimmt am nächsten Tag Muskelkater gehabt, denn wir haben ganz schön viel getrunken :D Die Mexikaner (shots mit Tomate und Tabasco) waren für meinen Geschmack etwas scharf, gleiches gilt für die "Brasilianer" shots. Die Möbel in der Couch Ecke waren ordentlich runtergerockt, ja das passt irgendwie ins Irish Pub Bild, mehr kaputt darfs aber auch nicht sein.. Der Abend war super, man hat uns kurz nach drei vor die Tür gesetzt, damit das Personal auch irgendwann mal Feierabend machen kann. Ich war sowieso schon müde :D

Leider war die Küche schon zu um Zehn, wir waren um Elf dort. Bin ich sonst nur von der Kleinstadt gewöhnt und bin darüber enttäuscht.

Fantastic service we had a group of 7 and we were invited in and taken to a nice table in our own room. We came when it wasn't too busy but still the service was fantastic. Jan a very friendly bar staff person needs a special mention. He was fantastic at service, gave us great recommendations on drinks, and had a joke or two as well. Honestly we had a great night! Thank you.

Ein schöner uriger und rustikaler Ort zum einkehren. Die Pitcher sind gut gefüllt und der Preis ist angemessen. Durch die freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung waren wir zu jeder Zeit versorgt. Dieser Pub ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert und in der einen Woche in Bonn, werden wir nicht nur einmal dort gewesen sein.

Die Speisekarte ist leider nicht sehr groß (anscheinend seit Corona stark verkleinert). Wir mussten auch immer etwas länger auf die Bedienung warten und ein Teil der Bestellung wurde vergessen. Als wir getrennt zahlen wollten wurde uns gesagt, dass sie dafür eigentlich zu viel zu tun hätte. Seltsame Antwort aber andererseits sogar verständlich da wir bei vollem Haus nur 2 Bedienungen sehen konnten.

Irish Pubs sind ja ne eigene Kneipenspezies. Es gibt gute, es gibt miese, es gibt authentische. Ich finde das James Joyce gehört zu den Besseren Vertretern. Ja, das Newcastle Brown Ale war aus - Schade aber passiert. Unten sah es sehr gemütlich aus, oben ist es mir etwas zu spartanisch. Der Laden ist ziemlich verwinkelt. Fußball lief auf dem Fernseher, der Kellner war fix, Getränke kamen auch schnell. Alles in Ordnung. Publikum quer durch die Gesellschaft. War ich schon in besseren Irish Pubs? Ja! Würde ich hier Ulysses durchlesen? Nein! Würde ich nochmal auf ein paar Bier vorbei kommen? Auf jeden Fall!

Ich kann die negativen Bewertungen hier wirklich nicht nachvollziehen. Ich komme seit Jahren regelmäßig ins James Joyce und habe mich als Frau noch nie anders oder unfair behandelt gefühlt. Außerdem ist es nicht ungewöhnlich, dass ein Pub etablierte Billard-Regeln hat, an die man sich halten muss, wenn man spielen möchte. Wenn das dazu führt, dass man nicht immer gegen seine:n Wunschgegner:in spielt, ist das kein Grund für eine negative Bewertung. Ich würde das Joyce durchaus als Safe-Space für Frauen und LGBTQ+ Personen beschreiben :-) Everyone is welcome 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🌍

Einer meiner absoluten Lieblingspubs in Bonn. Hier gibt es einen Billiardraum in dem eine freundliche und offene Atmosphäre ist und man immer wieder Leute kennenlernt. Auch für Leute gut, die gerne mal spontan alleine in einer Kneipe vorbeischauen. Oft auch internationales Publikum,wodurch es noch schöner ist.

Als eine Frau kann ich wirklich nur sagen, ich habe mich nie so wohl und sicher gefühlt als in JJ. Gibt's Abende wo ich ganz alleine hier bin und fühle mich wie Zuhause. Nicht nur das Personal ist nett und respektvoll aber auch die Stammkunden die immer im Billiard Raum spielen. Pizza funghi und die Chicken Wings kann ich ebenso nur empfehlen :) :)

It's a misogynistic bar, if you are girls waiters will treat you paternally and forget about using the billiard because there will always be one guy saying you if you can play or not. It's so disgusting trying to deal with all of that, you just want to have fun with your girls and this bar is not a space for us at all.

This place is not equal, women’s are treat worse than men. Do not come here if you want to enjoy time with your friends.

Schönes gemütliches Pub mit guter Auswahl! Der Service ist freundlich. Die Räumlichkeiten könnten allerdings ansprechender sein.

Wir waren mit 12 Personen zum Klönen, Essen und Trinken hier. Die Location hat Charme, die Bedienung war versiert und freundlich, das Essen lecker und aus der großen Auswahl an Biersorten hat auch jeder seinen Favoriten gefunden. Alles in allem ein runder Abend. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Sehr geschmeidiges Bier, der Service war überdurchschnittlich hervorragend (noch nie eine positivere Atmosphäre in einer Bar/Kneipe erlebt), immer gut gelaunt und freundlich. Die Atmosphäre entspricht einem Pub, wie ich sie mir wünsche. Das Essen war auch sehr lecker Hab nichts zu bemängeln!!

Super Bierauswahl, wirklich authentische schöne Kneipe. Genug Platz für alle und gerne dort. Hin und wieder ein paar Ratten, sonst aber prima!

Ein wirklich schöner Laden mit super Ambiente und freundlichen Angestellten. Die Dame die uns bedient hat war höflich und es kam auch immer schnell die Nachfrage ob man noch etwas bestellen wolle. Mein riesen Kritikpunkt sind allerdings die Toiletten. Sie wirken dreckig und im Damenklo hing eine Tür nicht mehr in den Angeln. Das vermiest den eigentlich echt coolen Abend doch sehr.

Die Zeitspanne eines Bier ist dann eher einfach oberflächlich. Dunkele Atmosphäre, Herrentoiletten nicht sauber und stinken nach Urin was von der warmen Temperatur noch intensivt wurde. Die Bedienung freundlich und schnell. Zu dem Zeitpunkt waren sowieso nur eine Handvoll Gäste dort.

Sind eher zufällig hineingestolpert und es hätte gemütlicher nicht sein können. Wurden schnell und nett bedient, Preise sind Fair, Auswahl gut. Die Atmosphäre ist locker, gemütlich und unaufgeregt. Klasse!
