Delicious food, lively service, reservations are a must!

We were there with the German Armed Forces Association for a members' meeting. The food was, as always, very good. Unfortunately, we only had one server for drinks, which caused some delays. Otherwise, there were no complaints. The Jagdhaus im Kühl is always a great choice. 👍😁

Hubertusplatte is top-notch as always! And a few weeks ago, "Pulled Venison in BBQ Sauce" was on the daily special – outstanding! This absolutely has to be on the permanent menu.

Quiet surroundings, not easy to find. The ambiance is tasteful, in a hunting lodge style. Decent portions that are almost impossible to handle. A large selection of dishes, including something for vegans and vegetarians. The service is friendly and attentive. We highly recommend it. Don't forget to reserve a table... it's highly recommended.

We were there in the afternoon for a slice of cake. We had a lovely outdoor seating area. It was in the middle of the forest, beautifully situated.

We made a last-minute reservation, and they added an extra table to accommodate us. The service was very quick and super friendly, and the food (we had the Hubertus platter) was simply divine. We'd love to come back.

There's plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. The drinks selection is good, but the Sunday menu is quite limited. Almost every dish has mushrooms, and there's one(!) vegetarian dish, made with goat cheese, which was absolutely delicious, but not to everyone's liking. But that's to be expected in a hunting lodge, and special requests are taken care of (vegetables for the little ones, canceled orders, etc.). However, the ambiance was somewhat dampened by the crowded restaurant and stressed waiters. A young, new waitress was criticized by her boss in front of us as guests, and it was pointed out that we should leave the table quite soon so the table could be set for the evening. Furthermore, the waiter's door was open to the outside, and we were greeted by smoke from outside. A real shame. Not for me as a vegetarian, but I understand why many people like it here.

Four of us were there yesterday, Sunday, and had a lovely table in the large outdoor area (with a reservation). In short: There was absolutely nothing to complain about and it was excellent in every respect. From the beautiful ambiance, the absolutely attentive and super-friendly service, the drinks and the extensive menu to the quality of the ordered dishes and the speed of service, it was perfect in every respect. The menu offers numerous game specialties, but even those who don't like game have a wide selection of alternatives. My "pulled venison bowl with steakhouse fries" was sensationally good, and I would order it again anytime. The fruit schnapps from the local gourmet manufacturer in Hemer rounded off an excellent meal. A lovely evening, and we'll definitely be back soon. Thank you very much! 🙏

For my wife's 65th birthday, we had reserved a table for 12 people. Unfortunately, three people canceled shortly beforehand – which can happen with guests well over 80. When we reported this to the waitress, Ms. Drews, we were treated in a manner I've never experienced before. Her tone and manner of address were degrading. We would have preferred to leave immediately. This behavior from Ms. Drews continued throughout our entire stay. About 15 minutes after we had paid and left, my cell phone rang. Ms. Drews called and said she had booked the last drink order for the wrong table and that we should come back to pay for these drinks. Luckily, we were still in the parking lot because we were chatting with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and we were able to pay the remaining €24.20 without much hassle. We've been to Kühl a few times, but we've never encountered anyone like Ms. Drews.

We celebrated our wedding at the Jagdhaus – and it was simply perfect, from the planning stage to the very last moment. The entire team was passionate about it; you could really feel that everyone enjoyed the event. The person who helped us plan the event was particularly committed and reliable. The food was outstanding, and individual requests were accommodated even at short notice – truly first-class service! If we could celebrate our wedding again, we would do it right there again. A huge thank you to the entire team at the Jagdhaus im Kühl – you made our day unforgettable!

There were eight of us for a birthday party. The food was excellent. One meal never arrived. No one asked for more drinks. When we didn't want the missing food, despite prior notice and long after everyone had finished, we were completely ignored. An unprofessional response to our own mistakes. Unacceptable at that price point. Instead of double-paying for the cooler, we moved the party to a private location. That's definitely a no-go for me in the future.

Ebenfalls war das Essen sehr lecker und wurde sowohl von uns als auch von unseren Gästen in höchsten Tönen gelobt. Wenn wir uns erneut für eine Location für unsere Hochzeit entscheiden müssten, so würden wir immer wieder ins Jagdhaus im Kühl gehen. Die umliegenden Wälder sind perfekt für Spaziergänge oder wie in unserem Fall für ein Fotoshooting. Vielen Dank das wir bei Ihnen unsere Hochzeit feiern durften! Let's start with the wonderful location. A truly beautiful piece of land in the beautiful Iserlohn Forest. An inviting and sunny terrace. The interior feels a bit like a hunting lodge, but the menu offers excellent game specialties. The other dishes, including starters and desserts, are also freshly prepared and delicious. For the little ones, there's a playground and ponds, as well as an enclosure to explore. Add to that the super friendly and very attentive staff. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. The prices are completely reasonable, and the portions are generous. It's definitely worth stopping by. Perhaps after or during a wonderful hike through the beautiful Sauerland region.

We were there this afternoon to celebrate my cousin's birthday. The food was delicious, although the portions of the croquettes and spaetzle were a bit small compared to the amount of sauce in the main course. Since it was a special occasion, we had hoped that it would be possible to organize a small dessert for the birthday girl as a welcome gift from the kitchen. Went to the hunting lodge on a recommendation and wanted to treat ourselves to a special lunch on May 1st. We sat in a large dining room that had absolutely no flair. The table was too small for 4 people and the chairs were uncomfortable. The dining room was so carelessly designed that you couldn't really feel comfortable. The food itself matched the first impression. Considering we ate game, the food wasn't particularly aromatic. The asparagus cream soup as a starter was relatively thin/watery. All in all disappointing. By the way, the Sunday menu was served on the holiday, which was correspondingly shortened compared to the online menu.

The food is OK, nothing more and nothing less. Unfortunately it is a bit too expensive for that.

Wir haben den 85sten Geburtstag meiner Mutter mit insgesamt 11 Personen gefeiert. Bedienung hervorragend, sehr zuvorkommend!!! Aufgrund der vielen Gäste dauerte es, bis unsere Bestellung aufgenommen werden konnte, aber die Speisen wurden dann recht zügig gereicht! War verständlich... Leider keine Möglichkeit einen "Seniorenteller" zu bestellen. Darauf, dass Senioren i.d.R. weniger Appetit haben, wird in der Speisenkarte (und auch auf spezielle Nachfrage) keine Rücksicht genommen. Haben in der Vergangenheit auch hier schon qualitativ besseres Essen bekommen. Insbesondere das Wildragout war recht von Fett durchzogen, Soßen "recht dünn" und das Rumpsteak war "zu gar" Selbstverständlich mussten alle Gastronomen ihre Preise erhöhen. Dass sich dadurch auch die Preise für den Gast erhöhen, ist auch klar. Jedoch sollte die Qualität zumindest gleich bleiben. Habe ich hier leider vermisst.... Schade...

Food was delicious as expected! 2 small points of criticism: The heating at our table was a bit too warm and the plates didn't come to the table preheated, so the delicious sauce got cold relatively quickly. A highly recommended restaurant in the middle of the forest! The food is good, home-style with lots of game (not surprising 🙃). There is also a vegan dish and salad that is very fresh. Overall the quality is top. No matter whether it was fish, game or the children's schnitzel: everyone enjoyed it. The location is great, very idyllic in the forest and yet easily accessible by car as there are parking spaces nearby. A playground shortens the waiting time for the children and afterwards you can go for a walk. We would be thrilled!

It's a shame... we reserved a table for Sunday lunchtime... we were assigned a table at the door... then the menu came... and even though we had read in advance that it should be "a la cart"... a small lunch menu with 2 pages was brought... We had visited this restaurant before and were looking forward to a game dish... e.g. roe deer tips... but that was far from it... as there was nothing comparable on this menu.. we left without anything to eat... we drove an hour's drive from Münsterland and then this bankruptcy...

We ate at “Kühl” for the umpteenth time. As always, it tasted very good and the dishes were beautifully presented. Special mention should be made of the waitress (unfortunately I have forgotten her name) who carries out her job with a lot of love. Anlässlich meines Geburtstages habe ich die Familie zum Essen eingeladen. Da ich bisher oft gute Erfahrung gemacht habe, sollte es im "Kühl" sein. Service sehr nett. Leider war das Essen nur lauwarm. Meines eher kalt, was auch nach der Reklamation nicht unbedingt besser wurde. Mal war die Soße sehr dünn, mal das Fleisch sehr trocken (Sauerbraten). Vieleicht lag es am Termin im Anfang Januar, dass die Luft nach weihnachten etwas raus war. Das sollte aber bei den Preisen nicht passieren.

Seit 6 Jahren sind wir jedes Jahr zu Weihnachten dort, es ist wie immer hervorragend! Super Service, tolles gemütliches Ambiente und wahnsinnig gutes Essen! Wir fahren extra 100 km dorthin und es lohnt sich immer wieder! In keinem anderen Restaurant kann man so gut essen! Zweifellos eine 10/10, weiter so!

Yesterday, January 4th, 2025, we had a reservation and five people ate there. In a relaxed atmosphere we ordered game and schnitzel with dessert. Everything was very good in terms of quality and quantity. Since we ate there often, it's time for a positive review. We all noticed the friendly and attentive service. We'll be back.

I returned here again after a few years. The hunting lodge is still very nicely located, although it is very difficult for seniors to access. Regarding seniors, they just eat less, since there was no senior menu offered, you weren't allowed to order a children's plate either. OK ! After we placed our orders, I ordered the Irish steak as stated on the menu with porcini mushrooms. MEDIUM! Got steak with herb margarine on a plate that was way too big with a cherry tomato. After I said I wanted it as stated on the menu, they took it back to the kitchen. After some time (my guests) were almost finished, I got it back... with warm fried potatoes again. Then I wanted to ask for seasoning, salt and pepper because it was very bland, so I tried to get attention by showing my hands. The staff were very inattentive or ignorant and overlooked my hand signals. Even when 3 service staff were at the neighboring table. I know that there is salt and pepper on the table. Unfortunately, I was no longer hungry for this piece of meat, which was ordered as a medium steak and then fried almost completely. It's a shame, I knew it differently, or I'm just spoiled...

I have known the restaurant for 50 years. Quality and service are always excellent.

Very difficult... I was with you yesterday on the occasion of my birthday with my family (4 people). Unfortunately we had reason to make a complaint, which was answered snippily by a waitress (lady, black hair and very annoyed). The kitchen's repairs were completely unsuccessful, the sauce was still cold, but the meat (game) was probably in the pan again and therefore "fried to death".

The hunting lodge is beautifully located, the menu is extensive and contains some delicious specialties. The service was good. The quality of my deer medallions varied from medallion to medallion. One almost made me choke, another was a real treat. There are probably a lot of deer in the Sauerland. The tomato soup is amazing! I've never eaten a better one.

We were in this outside restaurant a few years ago and came here again for dinner because of the good memories. This time, however, it was a disappointment. We had the deer tip forester type twice for 33.90 euros. And in both dishes the meat was anything but tender. The croquettes and the chanterelle sauce with sour cherries were both plentiful and tasty too. Unfortunately not the meat.

Even before booking, when we were still looking for a suitable location, Mr. Speerschneider stood out for his professional, hospitable manner, which is why we chose the hunting lodge. Even though he is always very busy, he took the time to show us everything and always responded to our questions and requests. We quickly noticed that the Jagdhaus has a lot of experience in organizing weddings and celebrations, so we were always given good advice (e.g. flat rate for drinks, choice of food, etc.). The special thing is that there is the opportunity to have a free wedding ceremony in the middle of the forest on a meadow. But since it was too rainy at the time of our wedding, Mr. Speerschneider offered us a great alternative so that we could get married at sunset with a view of the romantic ponds with solid ground under our feet. The entire service staff tried very hard to ensure that everything ran smoothly at all times. It was noticeable that they feel jointly responsible for the success of a smooth day. They even decorated our tables for us and cleared them at night, which saved us a lot of work. The food was simply great, which was also reported by the guests. Maybe you wouldn't expect this from a hunting lodge, but there was also exceptionally good food for vegetarians, which everyone praised.
