We ate at JA AN yesterday for the first time in a while. We had soup, spring rolls, and sushi. We were thrilled! Everything was fresh and delicious, especially the sushi! We'll definitely be back! Highly recommended!

Jaan Jork is open again! It was recommended to us by friends. We ate there with the family. The food was delicious. The sushi was especially good! You could see how much love went into preparing it. The service was amazing. I'd almost say the best waiter in all of Lower Saxony. A very funny and friendly guy. He caters to the guests' wishes and answers questions professionally. Keep it up, Fabian!!! 🥳 We'll definitely be back and will recommend you to others. Thank you so much for this wonderful, successful evening!

It was our group's first and last visit to this restaurant. The food was bland, the sushi fish smelled bad, and the service was inattentive, slow, and not at all friendly. It was comparable to a robot. Would I recommend this place? Absolutely not. A total disaster! This place doesn't even deserve one star, but unfortunately, you have to give one. :(

Very tasty and super friendly. (3 years ago) We were there today, outside in the pavilion. Not particularly nice. After 15 minutes, we got a menu after the waiter walked past us four times without even saying hello. After almost 30 minutes, we left and ate somewhere else. The table next to us still hadn't had any food after an hour, and even after asking twice, there was no answer or food!

On Sunday, my family and I went to Ja An Restaurant. We were very satisfied: the food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were friendly. We'll be back next time 🥰

During an inspection on July 14, 2025, inspectors documented several deficiencies: mold-like contamination in the refrigeration system, dirty cutting boards with deep grooves, food residue in the refrigerated counter, and grease drips in the extractor hood. In addition, food containers were stored on the floor and ready-to-eat food was left uncovered. These complaints had not been resolved until recently. 😉

Unfortunately, the service during our visit in June was very disappointing. Four of us went out for dinner and sat at a table directly by the kitchen corridor. Our sushi sat ready on the counter for about an hour, while the rest of the dishes seemed to have been forgotten. In total, we waited about 1.5 hours for our food, which unfortunately put a serious damper on the evening. It was also somewhat unpleasant that the sushi was left on the counter the entire time and was repeatedly touched to determine which table it belonged to – this unfortunately didn't seem very hygienic. We were assured several times that the food would "come right away," but it simply didn't arrive, while guests who had ordered after us were already receiving their food. At the end, there were also discrepancies on the bill, which were resolved but somewhat dampened the overall positive impression. It's especially unfortunate because the restaurant used to be one of the best sushi restaurants in the area, and we always enjoyed eating there. We hope the service improves in the future – the food used to be really good.

Yes, I'd be happy to do it again as soon as the opportunity arises.

Service Heaven!!!! He's still there: The waiter who eloquently, competently, and friendly guided us through lunch. Everything was perfect, even the dessert with the wonderful coffee, served just in time. Questions about the food were answered professionally. We asked and learned his name: Fabian, the young man is fully trained as a chef. For us, that's a reason to come back. The food was also excellent, especially the amazing spiciness at my request. Thank you! (Update from September 12, 2025) Unfortunately, I have to change the review to negative. The service has deteriorated considerably. Unfortunately, the nice young man, Fabian, is no longer there. The new employee is unfriendly and rude, and easily stressed. A table in the cold temperatures was only available outside, even though we had reserved four weeks in advance. We learned his name was Nam. Unfortunately, he's no longer recommended. What a shame.

Yes, I have to agree with Juergen. Apparently, the staff has been replaced. The nice young man who took our order is unfortunately no longer there. I've been there three times in the last two months, and today was the icing on the cake: Reserved? - No - Not reserved? I'm looking! No, nothing available! Have a nice day! - Oops? We really felt thrown out. Plan B was to sit outside. There's a tent, the tables were decorated with flowers, there were even a few glasses left on the tables, and the weather was perfect: No, that's not possible! Bye! The service has become dramatically disappointing. Maybe try a change of staff again?

We have been regular guests at this restaurant for several years. However, since the change in management, we noticed that the service has deteriorated significantly. Despite having a reservation, we had to stand at the entrance for 15 minutes before a waiter showed us a seat. After ordering drinks, an appetizer, and a main course together, the appetizer arrived 25 minutes later, without drinks or cutlery. During this time, several guests complained loudly about the long wait times after ordering their food (sometimes over an hour). The restaurant was not full at the time. The sushi we ordered sat on the counter for 30 minutes because our other dishes weren't ready. After an hour and 20 minutes, we finally all received our food. My dish, "crispy duck with rice and coconut sauce," was the absolute worst for 20 euros. The duck was dried out, hard, and old. The rice already had a hard, dried-out surface. Unfortunately, this was our last visit. Never again under this operator.

Unfortunately, I have to "revise" my review from two years ago. We are (were) regular customers at Jaan in Jork and unfortunately noticed that the quality has declined considerably. At the beginning of 2025, the prices per dish increased by €3. Which would have been acceptable if the quality and quantity had remained the same. Unfortunately, this isn't the case! My husband didn't want to go anymore. But I did. So, before ordering today, we informed the waiter about the following: The Sushi Roll B33 used to be 2/3 tuna and 1/3 avocado. For some time now, it's been the other way around ☹️☹️ The waiter said he'd pass this on to the kitchen. When our sushi finally arrived, unfortunately, nothing was better. It was mostly avocado again and not much tuna. And the Roll B37 with tempura shrimp was cold and dry. We're not used to that either! What a shame!!! When the waiter asked if everything was okay, my husband said exactly the same things and that unfortunately, we won't be coming back. Unfortunately, there was no response from the waiter. It would be great if you could return to your previous quality and quantity! Perhaps then we'll be your guests again. We sometimes eat there 2-3 times a week. The best Asian restaurant for miles around and an absolute asset to Jork! The service is always friendly and courteous, and if you don't have a reservation, it's often no problem getting a table, at least in the summer when you can sit outside. We always recommend it. My absolute favorite restaurant⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A very special place with truly great food. Beautifully presented and at reasonable prices.

The atmosphere is really pleasant. The waitress comes by several times during the meal to ask if everything is okay. It was almost too often for me, and you're constantly interrupted during the conversation. They mean well, but once is enough. The food always tastes great there. One criticism: We had spring rolls as an appetizer. They arrived quite quickly and, to our surprise, were cut in half. I've never experienced anything like that before. For €8, I expect whole spring rolls, not ones cut in half to make them look like more on the plate (they looked like six, but there were actually only three). That was a real disappointment. We wouldn't order again. The prices - like in other restaurants - have gone up a bit recently. Unfortunately, the restrooms weren't clean. More attention should be paid to this. Despite everything, the food is great and the restaurant is highly recommended.

The reservation didn't work, but we got a table. The menu arrived late, and it took quite a while to order. The food tasted okay, but only lukewarm. There were four of us; two meals were served, the other two a good five minutes later. We had to wait almost 45 minutes for dessert, which only arrived after a reminder. The staff frequently stood outside smoking and chatting. We were not satisfied with the service!!!

Cozy, modernly furnished restaurant. Lots of wood, fresh plants, and flowers. Top-notch! Service is professional but lacks any personal touch. The food was okay, but unfortunately, nothing more. The vegetables in the main courses were raw, and the sauces lacked any flair. Our verdict: Nice restaurant, but unfortunately, the food is just generic Asian fare.

Great local food and drinks, vegan, vegetarian, or meat, something for everyone. Friendly and relaxed service, it was a lovely evening, thank you.

Update from July 27, 2025: Unfortunately, our second visit wasn't quite as enjoyable as the first. We had two mojitos in a row; the first was already very low in alcohol, but the second felt completely alcohol-free. My soup as a starter was more lukewarm than hot. And my main course was also significantly better on the first visit. The sushi platter M6 was very good, however, and wasabi was brought later. The ambiance has changed somewhat, however; the ceiling lighting only works in certain areas, but cables hang from the ceiling. The restrooms also desperately need renovation, as do parts of the dining area. The service hasn't improved, unfortunately. With a little affinity, you could probably increase sales considerably. At the neighboring table, guests wanted to order more drinks, but after a while they preferred to pay and disappeared into the dusk. What a shame. You really need to do something. We'll monitor this from a distance. Thank you very much This was our first time here. The dishes are beautifully presented and taste excellent. I would have preferred a bit more spice, but that would be nitpicking. The price/performance ratio is in the upper third, but it reflects the quality. In my opinion, I would appreciate more attentiveness from the waiters. And the reservation process also needs improvement. Otherwise, it was a pleasant evening. We'll definitely be back...

We didn't have a reservation. We got a small table for two. The staff was very friendly. We felt welcome. The chicken spring roll was delicious. The sweet/sour/spicy dip was delicious. For the main course, the noodles with vegetables and turkey were incredibly delicious. I highly recommend you. We'd love to come back.

We've been regulars at your place for years and have always been very satisfied, but unfortunately, today's visit was a complete disaster. The sake was served so little (and almost cold, even though I'd ordered it very hot) that there were only about 4 cl in it. The waiter said it had evaporated due to heating. Was he trying to fool us? Then he came up with the excuse that 0.1 l costs €6.90. Just look at the high-end restaurants, like Tortue in Hamburg, and see what 0.15 l or 0.2 l of high-quality sake costs there! And your menu doesn't specify the quantity, even though it must be excellent!!! It's not about the money, but about the rude attitude of your waiter. Is there a new kitchen team? The papaya salad was a mixed salad with some papaya. The glass noodle salad was thrown onto the plate; any cafeteria can do better. Cilantro? None! We won't be coming back. It's a shame that the professional service (such a competent and friendly young man) is no longer there. There was so much noise at the counter and things were thrown around, making a relaxed meal impossible. If preparation isn't finished by opening time, then at least they should be considerate of the guests and keep things a little quieter. Completely unprofessional!

The duck dish delivered to the table was only lukewarm, and the "flying noodles" were still completely cold while being eaten. And they were also sticky. The accompanying lettuce leaves were tasteless—or were they just decorative? You had to search for the vegetables with a magnifying glass. Conclusion: Never again!

Very pleasant ambiance with beautiful decor. There were four of us there, and we received very attentive service. We had two appetizers and everyone had the flying noodles with crispy duck. You have to eat the meat quickly, otherwise it gets cold quickly. All in all, it was delicious and highly recommended. We had a lovely evening. The house specials were also delicious.

I ordered via the online menu to pick up and had to pay €3.00 more per sushi dish in the restaurant :(. The reason was that the correct prices were charged in the restaurant.... inconceivable

Great ambience, very nice staff, but unfortunately the chicken meat in both of the main courses we ordered was dry (once fried and once boiled chicken). Hard to manage portions. We will definitely go back, but then we won't order a chicken dish. Starter plate for 2 people was great. The lemonade is addictive ;-)

We go there often because the food there is very fresh and tasty. The service is always very friendly and is happy to provide information about the food. You can sit outside in warm weather, but you should book in advance in the evening as it is always quite full. Lunch is cheaper but the portions are just as large as in the evening.

I come from Italy and was in Jork for work last week because there weren't that many restaurants nearby. I decided on the JA AN Restaurant. What can I say from the start it was very friendly and very nice. The restaurant was really nice and modern. The service was very good and fast. There was little waiting time despite the almost full house and sushi tu go orders. I would advise anyone who is nearby to visit the restaurant. I will definitely be back on my next trip. The food was very tasty and freshly prepared. Bravo

We ate here for the first time this evening and were not satisfied. For my taste, the typical spices from Vietnam were missing. We got to know Vietnamese cuisine in Vietnam and it tasted completely different. The vegetables were crunchy but bland. The service makes reservations in a friendly manner. It is questionable whether we will come again. After 2 years we sat here again and were very positively surprised. This time everything was very, very tasty, everything was fresh and very tastefully prepared. Thank you very much 🙏🏿

Today we ate at JA AN with 6 people. The service was friendly and quick. Everyone got their main course only after the shared starter and at the same time, as it should be. Very good. The sushi was fresh and very tasty, the duck dishes were also very tasty. Lemonade also recommended. The portions were large. The food was worth every penny. Clear recommendation.

Unfortunately, it's a deal-breaker when, despite a comment, I keep getting spicy side dishes that get absorbed into the sushi, which is then just rubbish for me. Unfortunately I will no longer be able to order here in the future. As tasty as the sushi may be that doesn't burn my face off, it's not for me. Then delete the option to add comments to the order.

For several of them the food was cold. It was polite to ask if everything was OK. When people commented that the food was unfortunately cold, they replied that they should simply pour hot sauce over it. With an answer like that, you don't have to pretend that you care whether everything is okay. Then it's best not to ask at all.

The ambience is modern and very pleasant. Not a typical Asian restaurant. I like hot sushi. But that looks so delicious that I could bring myself to order it.

Delicious taste! Sushi as a starter is very tasty and plentiful. Main courses were also really tasty and the portions were sufficient. The atmosphere is modern. Unfortunately, over the duration of the visit it became more and more stuffy and the music got louder. The dessert could be more varied. Ice cream, bananas and sesame balls were already available at the Chinese restaurant at the end of the 90s... We would love to come back.

A good place to go for sushi lovers once you've found the entrance! There is no clue here. Unfortunately, the soup (clearly too thin) and the lassi (very small) were not value for money. The ambience is nothing extraordinary and the jazz cocktail music in the background doesn't fit here. The service was extremely friendly.
