Great atmosphere and ambiance. Typical Mediterranean fish food with olive oil, parsley and garlic. The service and the waiters are perfect and unobtrusive. In one word, I am delighted and I will come back again.

Mega large portions, friendly service, but unfortunately the meat was just tough. Then it's better to have a smaller portion with high-quality food!

Very tasty gyros. I can only recommend it. Price/performance is great! My absolute favorite Greek. Addendum September 2024: After the tenant changed, the prices increased significantly. Now they are “normal” instead of cheap. As a result, I won't eat gyros as often anymore. The quality and taste of the food is still at a very good level. Even if the portions have become a little smaller, you will still feel full. Tip: be sure to order the pita bread with it, it tastes great. The service is very nice and accommodating. Great service!

Good Greek. Friendly service and good food. There were little problems here and there: Bifteki was a bit burnt and the gyros we had ordered were missing. But high quality.

Family celebration with free choice of food and drinks: delicious appetizer platters, grilled fish dishes and grilled meat. Desserts: mixed ice cream with cream or hot raspberries. We felt very comfortable! Tram stop: Holzmarkt. Centrally located in Freiburg between Dreisam and Martinstor.

Neuer Besitzer, sehr ausgezeichneter Übergang, seit Jahren sind wir Stammkunden. Das Essen schmeckt mittlerweile ein Tik besser. Irodion gehört zu Freiburg wie das Freiburger Münster und ist mit Abstand einer der besten Lokale in Freiburg, ich würde sagen, sogar das beste Lokal in Freiburg und Umgebung. Der neue Besitzer macht es viel besser als der alte Betreiber. Bravo, weiter so 👍

Great lunch, good value for money, parking spaces right in front. The turkey skewer tasted great grilled, only the rice as a side dish was very little, you won't get full of it here, there could definitely be more side dishes on the plate.

Been regular guests for decades. Despite changing operator, very satisfied. Great that the chef was taken over!!!! We've already had several nice evenings with the new operator, it's very nice that there are no longer any loud discussions like there were with the previous operator. Lunch is also highly recommended, or if you want something quick in the evening. Prices absolutely justified!

Ordered a gyro for lunch, the meat was juicy, well seasoned and well fried. The service guys were very professional and quick, always with a smile on their faces. Gladly again, highly recommended.

When the waiter handed out the cards rather listlessly - starting with the men at the table and the women last - it gave a bad impression. A short time later, a schnapps was placed on the table without a word. It was clear to me that it was an ouzo. Nevertheless, as a guest, I would be happy if you could briefly tell me what you just brought there. For three out of four people, the main courses were insufficiently seasoned and lackluster. Either the cook didn't feel like it or he couldn't do any better. It should also be noted that when ordering, when asked, it was pointed out that the Metaxa sauce always contains mushrooms. I know it differently - but if the Metaxa sauce had been good, I could have overlooked it. Unfortunately the Metaxa sauce was also poor. I enjoy the service of many great Greek restaurants across the country and know what I'm talking about. When the waiter approaches the table every now and then and realizes that the glasses are empty and simply turns around again, the verdict was finally made. We won't stop here for dinner again. Unfortunately that was nothing.

Unfortunately not recommended. Visited spontaneously and ordered a mixed cold starter to take away. Waited 25 minutes for it. I thought the octopus salad was calamari. 2/3 of it onions and peppers. Same with the bean salad. 1 slice each of fried eggplant and zucchini (cut crosswise, not lengthwise). Add 2 tablespoons each of eggplant salad, tzatziki and taramas. Taste rating 4 (sufficient). 1 grape leaf stuffed with minced meat, tried and not eaten. The pita bread - 1 small flatbread, about 15 cm - was charged extra at €3.50. I'm happy to accept the price in a restaurant, but not for take-away. Addendum Dear owner, thank you for your answer, and it's a shame that you find my comment "unnecessary". It's true that I didn't pre-order. All the tables in the front part were empty, which didn't seem "busy" to me. I had parked around the corner, the parking ticket said arrival time at 6:35 p.m., and I was back at the car almost exactly at 7 p.m. Your price for such a mixed starter is okay, I didn't make a comparison between this and the quality I perceived. I just think the price for the individual take-away pita is high. You're right, it tastes better in a restaurant than from the aluminum bowl to the plate at home. I would have been happy if you had responded to what I consider to be constructive criticism of the individual dishes. So you decided to question my honesty and base my criticism on the price. We probably won't get together then. I wish you many more satisfied guests (I mean that).

The atmosphere is very good. I ordered grilled octopus, seafood platter and apple juice and orange juice, which cost more than fifty euros. Maybe a little salty? But I think it's delicious. It’s a big plate and very filling! The store clerk's service attitude is also very good.

It's a shame, after the previous operators quit, all that's left is the old interior. We have always enjoyed coming here for 10 years, we knew many of the staff, we received friendly service, we were given an ouzo and the prices were also cheaper. More than the 19% cheaper. This weekend we were there again, the staff served, I can't say loveless or bad, but it's also not how you would like to be served in a restaurant so that you feel welcome. The ouzo at the beginning is only half full, and when you eat here you don't leave with the feeling that you would like to come back, but with the question of where you should go next time. Except for a few dishes, everything is still on the menu, there just weren't any lemons left, but the prices are up nicely and I'm expecting more. We wish the previous operators all the best and that the new operators have a little more “heart” in them. In this sense, we unfortunately have to agree with the comments that were less positive.

The waiters were very helpful and polite. The atmosphere was great. The food was very tasty, and of very good quality. The best Greek restaurant in Freiburg. I highly recommend it.

Food is okay, service is too slow, ambience is like that

Wir haben hier sehr gut gegessen und getrunken, die Qualität der Speisen ist einwandfrei, die Getränke ebenfalls! (Empfehlung: Metaxa 7*) Wir hatten zu zweit die Vorspeisenplatte und die Irodion-Platte beides für 1 Person wohlgemerkt, und haben es geradeso, wenn auch nicht restlos, geschafft Die Oktopussalate sind eine Wucht, die Dolmadakia (gefüllte Weinblätter) ein echter Gaumenschmaus, und auch der Bohnensalat, Zaziki, Auberginensalat, gebackenen Gemüse... Die Leber ist nicht zäh, sondern zart, der Suwlaki-Spieß und das Lamm ein Traum, sogar der Reis ist gut! Zu Trinken alles von Kir Royal, Hauswein, Ouzo bis Metaxa super Es gibt nichts auszusetzen, man muss nur auf große Portionen gefasst sein, dann relativieren sich auch die Preise, wir haben am Ende zu zweit mit 5 Getränken, Vorspeise und Hauptgang um die 60€ gezahlt

When we arrived we first thought the restaurant was completely empty. And that on Good Friday? If you take a few steps in you can hear that it can't be empty. The service showed us a table straight away and was also very knowledgeable about allergens. The dolmades weren't my highlight, but they were definitely tasty. And the lemon sauce was very tasty. The dolmades got a real flavor boost when I squeezed the included lemon over them. The meat was really great. Juicy, not chewy and very flavorful. All in all a great restaurant with a very good price/performance ratio.

3 stars for the delicious food, but waiting 1.5 hours for the food is not possible!!!

It was worth making a few extra strides off the centre to find this cozy Greek restaurant. Attentive staff and delicious food! Highly recommended to visit!

The food is very tasty, but there were 12 of us at the same table and the food came at different times. I didn't like that. I think the kitchen should ensure that everyone can eat together. With 12 people, that must be possible. I thought that was a shame, some of them had already eaten and others had to wait until their food came, so it took a lot of time.

The staff are very friendly, the food was delicious, we only had lunch. The evening menu is expensive but affordable if you want to eat well. From outside it looks small but when you come in it is very big and clean.

We were regular guests at Irodion for decades. However, last year we decided not to go back because the service and friendliness had declined over the years. Yesterday we wanted to eat No.59 again after a long time and spontaneously decided to go there to give the Irodion another chance. We didn't know anything about the change of ownership until now! We immediately noticed the relaxed atmosphere among the employees; it was a lovely evening. We were served extremely friendly, no matter who came to the table. The food was great, very large portions, had to have the rest packed up. We will come back !! We didn't notice the price increase until today when I looked at the menu online to see if anything had changed in the offering. To be honest, we don't care if the prices are raised, we don't eat out because of the price. But because of the very good food and the friendly staff. What makes us happy is that it is obviously still the same chef, and we hope that he stays for a long time or then passes on his recipes 😀 P.S. The new boss and his team seem to be doing the Irodion well, and we look forward to coming back soon! And it doesn't matter what nationality 😀 People are people and remain people ❤️

Leider sind die vorherigen Besitzer wohlverdient zurück nach Griechenland. Wir waren so gerne dort ..Jetzt sind es gar nicht mal mehr Griechen .Wäre wenn das Essen gut wäre auch noch zu akzeptieren..Jedoch..Essen , Service alles nicht mehr gut ..Wir werden nicht mehr wieder kommen

Four of us were here for a friend's birthday meal. In short: super tasty, not 0/8/15 like many Greeks. Prices are high at first, but absolutely justified. Anytime again 😋😋😋

My favorite Greek place for years! And always great, today as well as 10 years ago. Unfortunately, I no longer live in the area and am rarely there. But if so, a visit to Irodion is a must! Service great, quick, attentive and friendly. Food is always super tasty. Portions a little too big, but probably a plus point for many.

Today we once again had the pleasure of taking a culinary journey at our favorite Greek restaurant. The bean soup as a starter tasted appealing, and my companion praised the Greek broth. The farmer's salad prepared us for the main course - a delicious grilled salmon fillet, expertly prepared. The team impressed with its harmonious collaboration. The sweet conclusion with the “chocolate soufflé” and the “yoghurt with honey and nuts” as well as the Greek mocha rounded off the evening for gourmets. Particularly gratifying was the opportunity to capture this gastronomic experience through our own photographs, capturing the visual splendor of the dishes that reflect the restaurant's culinary mastery.

Near the historic center of Freiburg, we were impressed by the class of this Greek restaurant. The place is worthy of an old luxury restaurant like we found in the city in the past, it's surprising for a Greek restaurant in general much more familiar. The staff is present in large numbers, and the service is impeccable. Certainly the prices are higher than those of a traditional Greek, but the quality is there, the meat was very good and the Gyros exceptional. Ouzo offered. Allow at least €30 per person.

Das erste Mal keinen Begrüßungsouzo - auch nicht nach mehrmaligen Hinweisen - beim Griechen und ein ziemlich respektloses Verhalten des männlichen Kellners! Nach 35 Jahren Stammkundschaft!!! Das Essen war zwar gut, aber bei den Preisen erwarte ich genauso einen freundlichen, zuvorkommenden Service!!!

Haben Heiligabend sehr gut hier gegessen. Leider hat der Service uns nach dem Essen nicht mehr beachtet. Aber ansonsten war Essen wie auch service wirklich gut. Das Restaurant ist sehr schön.

Beste griechische Restaurant in Freiburg und mein Lieblingsrestaurant. Die Menschen sind unglaublich nett. Immer wieder gerne.

Für mich einfach ein seeeehr leckerer Grieche 😜Angestellte voll nett und szf Zack🏃‍♂️Essen reichlich, kennt man aber ja vom Griechen, aber schmeckt einfach wie frisch vom Grill, hmmm. Würde Reservierung empfehlen, da immer sehr gut besucht, kein Wunder! War und werde nicht das letzte Mal dort gewesen sein, Guten Appetit🍽🍽

Wir waren seit etlichen Jahren Stammgäste im Irodion und eigentlich immer begeistert. Allerdings waren wir die letzten Male wiederholt enttäuscht, da die Grillspeisen trotz mehrfacher Reklamation nicht richtig durchgebraten waren. Desweiteren hat die Qualität der Fleischspeisen geschmacklich nachgelassen. Empfehlenswert sind weiterhin die Dalmadakia.

Sehr großes, griechisches Restaurant am Holzmarkt. Umfangreiche Karte mit allem was das Herz begehrt. Vom einfachen Gyros Pita bis zur gegrillten Lammhaxe ist alles zu haben. Zur Begrüßung am Tisch gibt es ( natürlich) einen Ouzo..der Service ist schnell, sehr souverän, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Das Ambiente ist typisch griechisch, ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen, aber man versucht sich selbst einen etwas exklusiveren Touch zu geben..alles in allem gelungen. Ich bin hier noch nie enttäuscht worden. Die Speisen sind sehr frisch und heiss, die Preise moderat und wer hier hungrig rausgeht ist selber schuld..Toptip für griechisches Restaurant in Freiburg...

Top Restaurant, haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Hatten Mittagstisch, Preis Leistung wirklich gut.

Der Eingangsbereich hat uns zu Beginn etwas irritiert mit den Teppichen, hat erstmal nicht nach Groschens Restaurant ausgesehen. Der Gästehandtücher hat aber überzeugt. Wir sind sehr nett und freundlich empfangen worden und auch ohne Reservierung haben wir am Freitag Abend einen Tisch für 2 Personen erhalten. Der Service und auch das Essen waren sehr gut und daher würden wir das Lokal weiterempfehlen.

Als der Kellner recht lustlos die Karten verteilte - angefangen bei den Herren am Tisch und die Frauen zuletzt - ließ das böses erahnen. Kurze Zeit später wurde wortlos ein Schnaps auf den Tisch gestellt. Dass es sich dabei um einen Ouzo handelt, war mir klar. Dennoch würde ich mich als Gast freuen, wenn man mir kurz mitteilt, was man da grade gebracht hat. Die Hauptspeisen waren bei drei von vier Leuten nur ungenügend und lustlos gewürzt. Entweder hatte der Koch keine Lust oder er konnte es nicht besser. Angemerkt sei noch, dass beim Bestellen auf Nachfrage darauf hin gewiesen wurde, dass die Metaxa Sosse immer mit Pilzen sei. Das kenne ich anders - aber wenn die Metsxa Sosse gut gewesen wäre, hätte ich darüber hinweg sehen können. Leider war auch die Metaxa Sosse nichts und ich genieße im ganzen Land den Service von vielen, tollen griechischen Lokalen. Als sich der Kellner dann zwischendurch dem Tisch nähert und erkennt, dass die Gläser leer sind und einfach wieder umdreht, da war das Urteil endgültig gefallen. Hier werden wir nicht noch einmal zum Essen vorbeischauen. Das war leider nichts.
