Das Essen schmeckt einfach top, besonders das Gyros, und ich bin froh, dass es noch gute Griechen gibt, statt der Drecks-Dönnerläden überall!!

Der Imbiss ‚Grüne Tomate‘ ist für mich eine absolute Institution in Köln. Ich esse hier seit Jahren regelmäßig und muss sagen: Es ist einer der besten Gyrosteller der Stadt, wenn nicht sogar der allerbeste! Das Fleisch ist immer auf den Punkt gegart, unglaublich saftig und perfekt gewürzt. Man merkt einfach, dass hier über die Jahre hinweg eine gleichbleibend hohe Qualität geboten wird, was in dieser Beständigkeit wirklich selten ist. Wer in Köln auf der Suche nach einem authentischen, erstklassigen Gyrosteller ist, kommt an der ‚Grünen Tomate‘ absolut nicht vorbei. Eine klare Empfehlung für alle Fans der guten Imbiss-Kultur!

Das Gyros von der Tomate hatte überregional Bekanntheit erlangt, weil es so lecker war, leider ist davon nach dem Eigentümer Wechsel nicht mehr viel übrig geblieben, es ist höchstens noch mittelmäßig, nach mehrmaligen Versuchen und auch dem Hinweis an die Eigentümer das die Zwiebeln ungenießbar sind ( Antwort vom Eigentümer: das sind die besten Zwiebel die es zu kaufen gibt , das ist bei dem Wetter so) werde ich wie so viele andere den Imbiss in Zukunft meiden!

Vor 2 Wochen für das gleiche Produkt ( 8.50 € ) bezahlt.. Heute 10 €.. Darauf angesprochen wurde ich amgepampt.. Nein Danke das brauch ich nicht nochmal... Normaler kein Stern sowie der Chef sich aufführt..

Also nach wie vor mit der leckerste Gyros, den ich gegessen habe 👍 Natürlich ist alles Geschmackssache... Aber für mich persönlich: sehr lecker gewürzt und sehr zartes Fleisch ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Hat sehr nachgelassen seid der neue Besitzer drin ist ,und macht auf und zu wann er will ,nur nicht so wie es an der Tür steht ,sollte heute offen haben ab 13:00 Uhr aber aber dem ist wohl nicht so ,der laden ist zu,Das gab es beim alten Besitzer nicht ,dann bringe ich mein Geld lieber woanders hin wo man es haben will .

Wir waren jetzt nach langer Zeit noch einmal essen und haben gedacht, wir geben denen noch einmal eine Chance. Vergebens, es ist nicht mehr den Weg wert, dorthin essen zu gehen. Kalte Pommes – nach zwei Minuten auf dem Teller waren sie wirklich kalt. Fleisch total fettig, wir hatten solche Magenkrämpfe in der Nacht. Von der Bedienung ganz abgesehen, beziehungsweise Inhaber, gehen wir davon aus: Möchte man kritisieren, wird er total patzig. Antwort: Ich soll doch zu McDonald's essen gehen. Meine Antwort: Richtig, das schmeckt wenigstens und es ist warm. Uns sieht dieser Laden nie wieder. Schade für die Vorbesitzer, aber dieser Laden wird keine Zukunft haben mit diesen Inhabern. Vor allen Dingen Gyros mit Pommes 11 EUR. Du zahlst 4 EUR für eine Portion Pommes, Kleine Pommes 2, 50 Grosse Pommes 3, 50. So kann man auch Gewinn rechnen. Und die Portion sind leider auch kleiner geworden

Freundlicher Service, Essen ist gut. Hier gehe ich immer wieder mal hin. Im Gegensatz zum Kreta in Holweide, der seit deren Besitzerwechsel nicht mehr so doll ist und Rezensionen löschen lässt...

Wenn man in Köln-Höhenhaus unterwegs ist, kommt man an Tomate Gyros & Pizza einfach nicht vorbei. Für mich einer der besten Imbisse in der Gegend! Das Gyros ist jedes Mal perfekt: außen schön knusprig, innen saftig und super gewürzt. Dazu gibt’s richtig leckeres, hausgemachtes Tzatziki und frischen Krautsalat – man merkt sofort, dass hier mit Qualität gearbeitet wird. Auch die Portionen sind mehr als fair, man wird definitiv satt. Was den Laden aber besonders macht, ist die Atmosphäre: freundlich, familiär und immer herzlich. Egal ob man schnell was mitnimmt oder kurz wartet – man fühlt sich einfach willkommen. Kleiner Tipp: Zu Stoßzeiten kann es voll werden, aber das spricht eigentlich nur für die Qualität. Wer Wartezeit sparen will, bestellt am besten vor.

Leider haben die neuen Besitzer den guten Service und die Freundlichkeit des Vorbesitzers nicht übernommen. Portionen und auch die Pizzen sind kleiner geworden und trotz Vorbestellung und festen Abholtermin wurden die Gerichte erst bei Ankunft im Imbiss zubereitet mit weiteren 20min Wartezeit. Auf Anfrage warum das Essen denn nicht schon fertig ist wurde der Besitzer patzig mit dem Hinweis das viel zu tun sei. Dann hätte ich nicht anrufen müssen.

Der Top Gyros in Höhenhaus seit vielen Jahren. Das Gyros ist immer gut und die Salate und die Pizza ebenso. Zudem sind die Inhaber immer super freundlich. Man kann hier nicht bestellen, trotzdessen komme ich gerne für das Essen hierher. Es hat einen Grund warum sich der Laden so viele Jahre gehalten hat ❤️

Leider nicht mehr so wie beim alten Inhaber - geschmacklich nachgelassen - im Ablauf der Bestellungen total überfordert - wenn man wegen der langen Wartezeit telefonisch bestellt geht keiner ans Telefon, obwohl 4 Leute hinter der Theke stehen aber nur 1er ist wirklich aktiv - so hat die Tomate keine Zukunft mehr - ich werde mir sehr überlegen hier noch weiter Kunde zu sein! Leider! Bestelltes Essen sollte in 30 Minuten abholbereit sein, nach 60 Minuten immer noch nicht fertig - nie wieder! Es ist eine Schande 🤮 Wir Stammkunden seit 23 Jahren - Familie und Freunde - alle werden nicht mehr kommen, da ähnliche Erfahrungen👎 Heute am 07.02.26 nach sachlicher Kritik beschimpft worden! Richtig leckeres Gyros, welches aber zu einer bestimmten Uhrzeit eine lange Wartezeit benötigt. Der große Andrang spricht für die Qualität. Nachtrag: Diese Bewertung war für den alten Betreiber geschrieben. Der neue Betreiber hat sehr komische Preisvorstellungen. Wenn man ein Pizza Tomate Spezial ( Gyros, Zwiebeln, Peperoni und Schafkäse ) bestellt zahlt man 12,50€. Bestellt man eine Pizza mit Gyros, Peperoni und Schafskäse ( ohne Zwiebeln) soll man 16€ bezahlen. Eine absolute Frechheit und von der Qualität überhaupt nicht akzeptabel. Nie wieder! Übrigens werden kalte Pommes immer wieder noch mal in die Fritteuse geworfen und dem nächsten Kunden verkauft

It's become outrageously expensive, with declining quality. Currywurst, fries 🍟, and mayo = €7.80. If a heaped tablespoon of mayo (25g) costs 8 cents wholesale and is sold for 80 cents, that's a markup of 900 percent of the purchase price. The term "profiteering" is commonly used! 😕

I didn't feel like cooking today. And I knew I'd find something for everyone here. Homemade gyros, schnitzel, coleslaw, tzatziki, and more are available. We had schnitzel with fries, currywurst with fries, and gyros with tzatziki and coleslaw. Everything was delicious. The gyros, coleslaw, and tzatziki are all homemade. The schnitzel isn't frozen either! Next time, I'll definitely try the shashlik! To the owners: Your price list needs updating. Half of the prices are missing. Update: I went back to Imbiss Tomate today after three weeks, and what can I say? Gyros pita for an unbeatable €6 (now €7) with perfectly grilled gyros and not overloaded with salad and other toppings. It was perfect! Oh, and you've also updated the price list—great job! Now at least we know what everything costs again 😉

It's a good Greek snack bar. They serve high-quality fast food. The menu ranges from gyros to burgers, pizza, and even some pasta dishes. The owners are friendly. You can eat in at one of the tables or take it with you. During peak hours, you can expect a wait of 30-45 minutes for the gyro. Very good value for money. It's definitely worth a visit. Since the family handed it over, it's still good, but not what it used to be. Prices have gone up, portion sizes have gone down. In my opinion, it's still good, but overall less busy.

Seriously! My husband just came home with gyro fries! Where are the tzatziki and onions? He wasn't paying attention and was sure it was on the burger! Since when do you stop asking? Maybe you should get some guidance from your predecessors! Friendship ends with food! 20 euros is a steep price for one gyro fries and a small bowl of gyro with nothing on it 😡 For anyone who's also disappointed, Dimi in Dünnwald near the train station makes delicious gyros!

After a long time, I visited the Tomato Snack Bar again – unfortunately, with disappointing results. The service was unfriendly and unattentive, and the food was average at best. The taste was okay, but nothing special, and the quality couldn't compare to my previous experience. It's a shame – I had expected much more.

What we got there yesterday was outrageous. First of all, we called specifically and pre-ordered over an hour in advance. When I got there, I still had to wait another 15 minutes! We had two gyro pizzas, both of which were still raw and had maybe five gyro slices on them. The gyro with fries also had undercooked fries. Since the change of ownership, the food has gotten very bad; the new owners are incredibly unfriendly. We used to go to Tomate at least once a month, and I will never go there again!

Even under the new management, the restaurant continues to offer large portions, delicious food, and friendly service. The decor has become a bit more inviting, and the full menu is now available again. Highly recommended if you're hungry for a good snack selection.

We've been living in Cologne Höhenhaus for two years now, and I've been a big fan of "Tomate" ever since. When the change of ownership came in 2024, I was a bit skeptical at first. The previous gyro plate was simply top-notch – the gyro was superbly seasoned, the fresh skewer was perfectly cooked, and the tzatziki (especially delicious) and the salad were always fresh and delicious. After the change, I visited the restaurant with skeptical expectations – and was absolutely pleasantly surprised! Not only has the quality remained unchanged, but the gyro even tastes a little better to me. I have the impression that the new owners have retained/refined the tried-and-tested recipe, which definitely pays off. The restaurant is also always clean and tidy, the service is friendly, and the gyro plate is simply top-notch. For me, this is the best gyro in Höhenhaus and the surrounding area – and I've already tried a few alternatives. A clear recommendation for all gyro fans! I'd love to come back. Best regards, Kevin

After a long time, I went to Tomato again today, and I really regretted it. My order in the store: 1 shashlik, 1 currywurst with fries, and a small fries. When the owner's son wanted to put the shashlik and fries in one bowl, I said I'd prefer them separated. He pulled a face! I asked if that would be a problem? He said I hadn't mentioned that when I ordered and did I want to argue now!! Then I asked the parents to say something about it. All they got was: It's our son! After some back and forth, the mother packed the food separately. Finally, they accused me of being rude. When I paid, I said it was the last time I was there. Then the son got very cheeky and, shouting through the entire store, banned me! Thank God! After the change of ownership, the food had already gone very bad.

After my favorite Greek restaurant had to close for health reasons, I searched for a good alternative for a long time. A friend recommended this snack bar to me. I've since become a regular customer. I was taken by my German friends when I traveled to Cologne in early April, my friends told me they go there often and we stopped to get a dinner. My friends got rounds, I instead tried schnitzels! Everything was very tasty, well cooked and big, filling portions! Clean space and the employees very kind and helpful! When I go to Cologne again I will be happy to have lunch there again!

When I lived in Holweide, my favorite Greek was. 1st place in Zündorf and 2nd place in My Greek in Rath Heumar.

Previously “world class” under the old owners, unfortunately the quality has deteriorated significantly since the change to the new owners. In detail: - The gyro is cut thicker and therefore less crispy than before. - Unfortunately, the new tzatziki is just average, whereas it used to be the best in all of Cologne. - The fries are often served as a “small portion” in a “full plastic bowl”, which causes the fries to become soggy even after 5 minutes of walking home. It would be nice if the previous owners had been more oriented… The new owners are also very nice and the advantage is that you no longer have to wait so long and can reach someone by phone, although this is probably also due to the lower quality.

Since the restaurant has had a new owner, the taste of the dishes has unfortunately changed completely for the worse. We have been there as guests for over 20 years. It used to be our favorite place. You can say it was the best gyros in Cologne. Now the quality is significantly worse. The special thing we valued so much is now missing. It's really disappointing and we won't be visiting the place again in the future.

Not just leaves or the stalk, but homemade salads made from cucumber, beans, corn, etc. So only delicious things and not, as we so often know, all greens, three pieces of tomatoes and two slices of cucumber! Even the delicious salad is worth it here! Plus it's full to the brim! At prime time on the weekend from 6 p.m., you can wait an hour for the food or gyros, but if you prepare for it, it's really easy because you'll be rewarded with the best gyros in the area! Definitely our first address for a “snack”! Very friendly family business. Closed on Mondays ;)

Tried 4 times in the last 2 years, each time they said there was at least a 60 minute waiting time or that the gyros available were reserved for orders. And I've heard so many times now that "non-regular customers" hardly have a chance or that it's a matter of luck to get gyros there. Now drive a little further, but it's worth it.

Today was the first time I ate here again...absolutely not what it used to be with the previous owner...The gyros no longer had any taste...had hair in the meat...fries fried too hard. So unfortunately for us that's it last time..
