Were there for the first time and I have to say enthusiasm in all respects. Let's start with the ambience. Stylish, modern and cozy. You just feel good. Although some benches are very comfortable. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical but was proven wrong. Service an absolute compliment for friendliness, expertise (explained everything - it was the first time there) and very accommodating. Let's get to the food and here I have to say mega. Everything was fresh, tasteful, well prepared, both the starter platter for two and the main course. Nothing to complain about, just pure enthusiasm. We were definitely not there for the last time. Thanks

The food is very good, but a little expensive. The ambience is very nice, decorated like a typical Asian restaurant, but very clean and simple.

Small weaknesses when eating: rice was almost cold, vegetables were al dente. Ikigai Deluxe Sauce: very intense, Muscovy duck wonderfully tender and pink on the inside, but could have been more roasted on the skin side. Operation quick and focused. Prices still acceptable. We come here often

The service is friendly, but unfortunately you have to actively order a second drink. In my opinion, you could ask the guest about this. Otherwise everything was great, I will come back.

Ate here for the second time. Really recommended: high quality, great Asian dishes and salads. Tried sushi this time. First class menu for two. High quality sophisticated roles, and performance spectacular. Price performance is also okay. The only point of criticism: chairs/benches without backrests do not make sitting comfortable. Still, full marks, we'll be back.

We discovered this place by seeing the interesting dishes served outside on the terrace. Very decorated and inviting dishes to the palate. We have already been twice, and we found a very interesting atmosphere inside, really welcoming, with very effective staff. The preparations of the dishes are very careful with excellent selected raw materials, as it seems to the eye, for all the courses that were noticed, moreover, we tasted some very delicious dishes. We are happy to have found excellent Modern Asian cuisine😍🤩🥳😋😋

Sehr unpersönliche Bedienung, die Bedienung spricht außer "Was wollen Sie?" nicht mit mir, die Rechnung wird mir von hinter meinem Rücken auf die Tischkante gelegt, ebenfalls das Rückgeld - kommentarlos! Kein guten Appetit oder so. Der Seetangsalat wurde mit ungekochten Reisnudeln gestreckt - unter dem Salat war eine Schicht ungekochter Nudeln - diese waren hart!! Das Nudelgericht war in Sojasoße ertränkt worden - kaum essbar!

Everything tasted great and looked great

The food is really delicious, I love the sushi as well as the tender strips of beef. (U38,U39 really recommended) Then why only 3 stars? Well it's not about the food. What stands out negatively is what is generally annoying about sushi shops as well as ikigai, comami: NO card payment. The justification that it's not worth it given the number of customers is a farce. The restaurant is always busy (because of the great food and presentation) It's just annoying that you always have to get cash these days, and it's been that way for years. The reopening sign has been hanging there for years... I also think the furnishings are really OK (reminiscent of the iron-wood furniture from Animal Crossing). What's annoying is that many of the seats don't have a backrest, which isn't nice after long hikes. Conclusion: incredibly delicious food with avoidable deductions in the surrounding area. No parking, free on the festival lawn with a 15-minute walk.

Finally an Asian restaurant where fresh ingredients and herbs play an essential role. The extra euros are very well invested. Thanks for that! But a 'fusion restaurant' is more than just a combination of different menus.

Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed our meal here. The ingredients tasted fresh and the meals we ordered were delicious. One warning is this restaurant does not take credit cards. But other than that, a great restaurant that we can't wait to return to.

In summer you can sit outside well. The service is very nice. Food very good. Unfortunately, you always have to order something to go with each dish, such as tofu or one of the types of meat. I would have preferred just the vegetables with the rice. Otherwise highly recommended.

I've been a regular at Ikigai in Neustadt/Weinstraße for four years, and I've tried nearly everything on their menu. The food has always been fresh and well-prepared, with my absolute favorite being the Pataya Pad Thai with shrimp (#92). Unfortunately, over the past three months, the dish has changed for the worse. The sauce is now too sweet, the noodles overcooked, and the shrimp, while larger, are rubbery and unpleasant. It's disappointing, as this dish used to be exceptional. During the same period, I also revisited the chicken curry, which used to be another highlight. Sadly, the quality has declined, with the chicken tasting rancid, a stark contrast to how good it used to be. Despite these issues, the sushi remains fresh and tasty, though not particularly innovative. The service is friendly and efficient, but the no-card-payment policy is frustrating in this day and age. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, but the recent decline in food quality, particularly the Pad Thai and curry, is a letdown.

We have eaten here several times or ordered food to pick up. It It tastes delicious every time and is always fresh. The food has actually improved since it opened. Whether it's sushi or udon noodles with fried duck breast, everything is delicious! Even when it's busy, the service is always good and you never have to wait too long for anything.

We had dinner at Ikigai with 3 people last night. We ordered sushi, edamame beans, chicken skewers, beef with vegetables and rice, and a salad with chicken. Everything tasted great. Vegetables fresh and still firm to the bite. I was the “salad eater with the chicken” myself. That deserves extra praise. Simply delicious. The service was very good, friendly and accommodating. Keep cooking such great dishes!! Find another location. You can do something!!

During a 50 minute stay, 4 customers who came after us and had ordered were provided with their orders. They apologized but already had the food for the 5th customer in their hands. We left the restaurant. It's nice that the drinks were covered, but we came to the restaurant because of the food.

I was very happy to see a cocktail with Nep moi on the menu, even if it was too sweet for me. The Pad Thai was also too sweet and too saucey/overcooked noodles for me. But the sashimi unagi absolutely ripped it off. Super tasty and a great combination. So gladly again for sushi!

The food is really very good. Have been there very often now or have ordered to take away, always very good and fresh. The best Asian dish I've eaten. With a lot of attention to detail. The boss and employees were very friendly and accommodating.

The first visit to Ikigai was a great experience. The restaurant is in the pedestrian zone of Neustadt. The rather simple and functional interior offers enough space and there are also some tables outside. The service was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a starter platter for 4 people and 4 main courses. The appetizer platter came quickly, was well prepared and everything on it tasted great. As soon as the platter was eaten, the main courses arrived. We had the Ikigai Deluxe Sauce with shrimp, chicken and Barbarie duck breast three times and Flying Noodles with chicken once. All dishes were very tasty and sufficiently portioned. We were very satisfied and will visit Ikigai again. During our visit only cash payment was possible.

Unfortunately our food was forgotten, which was probably because the waiter wanted to remember it instead of writing it down. He noticed when we still hadn't received our main course after almost an hour. The starter also took longer for us than at other tables. The food itself was very tasty. Even as a vegetarian you will definitely find something here and have a certain selection. Unfortunately, I don't know whether there are vegan dishes. The prices are okay too.

Just lovely! We had the summer rolls with tempura prawns and the flying noodles (a MUST). Mine with scallops and my friend with duck breast. Delicious!!! Staff is very kind and friendly. I’ll return at my earliest opportunity!

My visit to the restaurant was a big disappointment. The waiter couldn't speak German, which made ordering difficult. The food was only served lukewarm, which significantly affected the enjoyment. The prices were disproportionately high for the quality of the food. When I asked for a receipt, I was not given one. And as if that wasn't enough, my remaining money was simply withheld without any explanation being given to me. Overall the experience was extremely negative and I will definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Best Sushi in Town, or the Best Sushi in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Prices are ok, around €30 per person including drinks. Reservations advisable on weekends.

Very good establishment with fast service (drinks - 5 minutes; food - 10 minutes). The only negative is the location and renovation of the toilet (but everything there is sterile, just not in the general style)

It was a spontaneous alternative date because our local bar was closed. Luckily all I can say is... it was a great evening with great food... we found a new local restaurant... highly recommended

Keins der von uns probierten Gerichte hat geschmeckt. "New Style Curry" mit Kürbis und Ananas drin, Nudeln mit Mango Sauce. Besonders neu ist das nicht und viel zu süß für ein Hauptgericht. Schlabberige Udonnudeln. Das Deli-Gericht, was wir wollten, war aus. Die Bedienung hatte wohl einen schlechten Tag, war von Anfang an unfreundlich. Wir haben uns nicht beschwert, aber wieder dorthin wollen wir auch nicht.

We feel comfortable and the food is very good, but: During our last visit we noticed that card payments were no longer possible! Upon request, we were told that we could withdraw cash from the Sparkasse, which was about 100 meters away... In this day and age, when cashless payments have become indispensable, replacing the previously possible card payment with the only option of cash payment is very surprising to us! We therefore minimized our order and adjusted it to the cash we brought with us! We would be happy to come back when card payments are possible!

Ein Highlight in der an Highlights armen Innenstadt meiner Heimatstadt Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Besser reservieren, zumindest an den beliebten Abenden. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, manchmal sogar witzig. Auch für Vegetarier finden sich auf der Speisekarte ausreichend Möglichkeiten. Man sitzt nett und kann den Köchen bzw. dem Küchenpersonal beim Zubereiten zusehen. Alles in allem empfehlenswert.

Ein kleines aber feines,modernes Sushi Restaurant in dem es auch warme Speisen gibt. Einziges Manko für uns persönlich: Es gibt keine Rückenlehnen, da es Bänke gibt und keine Stühle. Essen ist top sowie Service auch. Preis Leistung finden wir angemessen. Waren jetzt schon einmalige Male hier. Sehr lecker.

Wir hatten die Vorspeisenplatte für 2.......Sommerrollen, Papayasalat, drei Dips, 2 Hähnchenspieße, Bohnen mit Salz und gefüllte Teigtaschen.... Alles seeeeehr lecker und toll angerichtet. Flying Noodles mit Ente und Mangosoße.... Witzig angerichtet und ausgesprochen lecker..... Reisgericht mit Huhn, Gemüse und Soße....... Alles nicht zu viel und nicht zu wenig....frisches knackige Gemüse. Wir kommen wieder

Das Essen ist sehr lecker und sah toll aus. Auch das Restaurant ist schön eingerichtet. Die Bedienung war allerdings etwas komisch und kam direkt nach dem Abräumen zum Tisch zum Kassieren, obwohl sonst noch viel Platz war. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es auch wegen nicht verfügbarer Kartenzahlung.
