IKEA Hamburg-Altona in Hamburg

Just like Ikea should be. However, we wanted to eat something. But there was almost only veggie stuff. It's a shame that people tend to look at a minority. There was something somewhere else. Otherwise great.

We wanted to go to the restaurant on the first floor. We went to the 2nd floor. Then we went back to the ground floor. Then we had to ask how we could go to the first floor because we had a baby stroller with us. We had to go in from a door and then we found the elevator for the 1st floor. So we went to the 1st floor. And if you go there by car you have to drive through to the 3rd floor.

The entrance to the parking garage was a disaster, with 3 lanes 2 closed and it took us 30 minutes just to park the car. Inside I find everything rather confusing and far too crowded and disorganized; things work better in other branches.

At Ikea in Altona you have to think differently. Goods delivery is on the 2nd floor. Parking spaces at the top. Staff very helpful. They help wherever possible. Ordering the goods very well. Certain goods are ordered online in the store or via a terminal. Information about picking up the goods online. Everything runs smoothly. Great everything.

Bad service, not customer oriented.

It's nice that there is an IKEA in the city center.

IKEA HAMBURG-Altona, the department store which is easy to reach even without a car. On the first day I didn't achieve what I had imagined. After intensive online research in-house, I went back to IKEA to the information point for bedrooms and met a very nice employee who patiently worked with me until it was clear what it should be.

Warning: I had chosen a sofa online (“VIMLE”, a normal 2-seater) and wanted to pick it up from IKEA in Altona. However, this sofa IS NOT AVAILABLE LOCALLY, but is only delivered by IKEA (for just under 100 euros! And by the way, with a delivery time of several days, which could only be found out upon request). Unfortunately this is not stated on the internet, it just says Click & Collect is not available and “Delivery available” BUT NOT e.g. “Not available locally” or “Only through delivery” or “Only available online” as, interestingly enough, is done here on the piece of furniture (!, see photo). I lost an entire Saturday morning because of this crap and will pass this on to the consumer advice center.

I would give one more star because of the restaurant, very delicious food.

An IKEA in the middle of the city? There was long controversy about its use before, during construction and some questions still arise now. For some, it's practical childcare while you shop (ethically not OK), for others it's a practical parking space (perfectly OK, either pay or park for three hours for a three euro purchase). Oh man. Otherwise: the parking garage is spectacular in the driveway, the house itself is even more of a labyrinth than others. Elevator chaos is free, as is absolute confusion about where you are or something is. Nice employees, more security guards than anywhere else. The cafeteria is spectacularly poorly planned. Suitable for shopping as well as studying design and architecture fails.

Very friendly staff, pleasant shopping atmosphere, easy to reach with the HVV

There is nothing to say about this historic building. Go there, look, enjoy and take a short but nice journey through time. Always worth seeing. The Christmas market is also a dream.

Unusual structure for Ikea but I think that's due to the city center location.

The way that they organised is good and it is easy to browse. Foods are quite good as well.

I come from outside Hamburg. I ordered via click&collect. I received an email with the heading ready for pickup. Pustekuchen... There's a time further down... so you'd have to wait 1 1/2 hours. According to telephone information, I can enter the parking garage with my car (van) via a truck entrance... Damn, I had to look for a parking space in Altona and paid 10 euros for 2 hours of parking...

Good preparation before shopping saves time. So look online, save the article to your wish list, print it out and go... Or check what's there in the app. And with Shop & Go, checkout is quick and easy! The cash desks are on the ground floor and second floor. Downstairs there is also the living room department, kitchen, as well as vases, artificial flowers, plants, etc. On the first floor bedroom, bathroom, child, office, storage, dining room, carpets, picture frames and mirrors. On the second floor is the SB hall, exchange, goods issue, transport and the Sweden shop. Signage, arrows on the floor and large boards for the house overview help with orientation. Of course, no dogs are allowed! Friendly, although sometimes too few staff. So you should always bring time with you. Especially on Saturday! And if you need planning help, for example with the kitchen or the cupboard, you can make an appointment online or on site. 3 hours free parking with Family Card. Have your parking card stamped at the cash desk and put it back in the machine at the top of the parking garage. Parking garage only for cars up to 2.10 m high. But where can you get into the parking garage with a truck ;-)? It's just a townhouse and outside parking spaces are rare. Open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Delivery from 55 euros. Or if it is a part by parcel label. Small items can also be delivered as a package for orders from 4.90 euros. Click & Collect only costs 5 euros. If you live nearby, it may be worth taking a sofa taxi (call yourself) or renting a cargo bike. Great suggestions and lots of choice. Hot dogs on the second floor. You can sometimes save money with the Family Card. Apply for this yourself online! Likewise financing via the IKEA credit card Conclusion: if you can think for yourself a little and can read, you will find your way around easily. At the info points you can check where things are or book things yourself.

I love being at this IKEA. At lunchtime I sit down with the pensioners in the restaurant and eat Köttbullar. Then I calmly look at the living ideas. Cuddly toys are available at the entrance. I grab one and place it somewhere I think it will fit particularly well. The most points are awarded for other people's shopping carts. Then, full of curiosity, I rummage through every drawer of the furnishing concepts, turn off every light and leave every cupboard door and drawer open. It's simply paradise. Until my wife picks me up again

This IKEA is one of the rare downtown IKEAs. You would think that there is a smaller offering and no parking spaces. But Pustekuchen, I think the concept really works, the store is never empty, it's just IKEA... as always, just easy and accessible for absolutely everyone. And in a challenging part of the city, always friendly and service-oriented. Great. Bravo 👏🏻

Very nice in the middle of the city

I wanted to buy the Tagarp lamps but when I arrived an employee said they were no longer available even though they were shown online as available for this Ikea Altona. In addition, you have to pay €4.90 for click&collect, which is free everywhere. What a dubious store, never ikea altona again.

Click & Collect has failed to get orders ready on time several times. Very bad service.

No service and invisible employees. Security had to help me arrange the transport and the dispatch employee was illiterate. Waited there for 45 minutes for a delivery date in a week. I could have made this quicker with materials from the hardware store. And less stressful.

The Ikea house in Hamburg-Altona actually offers all the options that you get in other Ikea houses, but the selection is a little smaller. Shopping can be done here over several floors and there is also the typical canteen and other Ikea features. Since the largest only works across the floors, a lot of it takes place via escalators and you end up having to take the elevator back to the ground floor after paying

I have been shopping regularly at IKEA Hamburg Altona for a long time and am extremely satisfied every time. The store layout, variety of products and customer service are truly outstanding. I am particularly impressed by the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, which always makes my shopping experience more pleasant. The quality of the products and the price-performance ratio are also very satisfactory. Another plus point is the clear and concise presentation of the products, which makes it easy to find exactly what you are looking for. The staff are always ready to help with any questions or problems and do so with a smile. This goes a long way to making me feel valued and well looked after as a customer. I also find IKEA's sustainability initiatives particularly worth mentioning, as they show that the company takes responsibility and is committed to a better future. This makes me feel good when I shop there. Overall, I am very happy with my experience at IKEA Hamburg Altona and would recommend this location to anyone looking for high quality furniture and excellent customer service. Perfect location, spacious parking garage

Entry is not possible with vehicles such as a Mercedes Sprinter as the permitted entry height is very low. The pick-up service is therefore poor. However, entry is possible with vehicles such as a VW T6. For example, if you have an order delivered to your home, the staff will bring a 1kg side table into the house, even though the desk is in the vehicle. They say the table will be “delivered tomorrow” but mark it as “delivered” in the system. Out of pure convenience, the employee said that someone else should get the desk out of the vehicle and carry it. He refused to transport it himself even though I offered to help him and explained that there is an elevator. He even openly confessed to me: “Brother, let someone else do it tomorrow, I don’t feel like wearing it.” A person in charge from Bavaria took care of my problem and enabled the product to be delivered. Getting from the take-away area in the building to the parking lot requires an incredible sense of orientation. People mostly come to eat or to buy small things, otherwise the other IKEA branch in Hamburg makes more sense.

I wanted to eat in the restaurant, but after 7 p.m. there was no reason to eat.

It's nice that you can choose your design via PC.

Free parking for Ikea Family members. Large, cheap restaurant. Slightly smaller and less selection than the other Ikea stores in Hamburg, especially when it comes to large furniture such as kitchens, sofas, etc., but there is a lot of choice for "small things". It's just adapted to the location in a pedestrian zone.

Bought 2 x Stockholm sofas, available immediately but not for collection, delivery only for 149 euros extra. Actually, the price tag is questionable if you can't buy it without additional hefty delivery fees.

Actually very nice, unfortunately many of the employees have little idea. At least that's how it was on my last visits. Except for the service desk for spare parts, exchanges, etc.

Simply comfortable! And right in the middle of the city! It is also open on shopping Sundays until 6 p.m. Update: Café on the last floor after checkout is only open until 5 p.m.

The restaurant only opens at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays. This is unfriendly to customers. Speaking of customer friendliness: zero. Lots of bored unfriendly staff at all levels.

IKEA Altona • My addictive candle paradise! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As a self-confessed repeat offender and passionate candle buyer 😉, IKEA Altona is the absolute hotspot for me. The central location on Große Bergstrasse makes the visit super convenient, and the spacious parking deck ensures that I can transport my fragrant treasures home stress-free.  The selection of candles 🕯️🕯️ is simply heavenly, from classic tea lights to exotic scented candles, everything is included. And when I need a break from the candle rush, the restaurant 🌭 invites you to linger with delicious food and a great view over Altona.  I particularly appreciate the friendly staff, who are always helpful even during my frequent visits. And if I ever buy more than I can carry, IKEA offers practical rental bikes and cargo bikes for transport home, a great thing!  For all candle lovers 🕯️ and those who want to become one: A visit to IKEA Altona is absolutely recommended. ➡️➡️ But be careful: risk of addiction! 😉

Great location, great parking - enjoy spending time here

A very nice, cozy furniture store. Very central in Altona. The restaurant is very simple. There is a deduction for this.

The microwave of the restaurant was out of order myself and many parents could not make the food warm for babies. I asked to a really nice employee (roumania woman) which was cleaning the table. She has done her best to help us by finding a solution but when she asked to the cashier/cook they almost didn’t reply to her and didn’t care about the issue. So 5 stars for this woman who took care of IKEA customers experience and 0 stars for her colleagues who don’t even take the time to be polite with her and us.

I actually enjoy being a guest in ikea restaurants. But today I was shouted at by male employees of the cleaning company for reasons I couldn't understand, as they spoke German poorly and couldn't communicate in English, so I felt threatened. I don't go here anymore.

Surprisingly well equipped for the size of the sales area. Very friendly staff who can help you professionally even 5 minutes before closing time. Only the restaurant could offer more choice and seats.

With Ikea familycard you get 3 hours of free parking in the middle of Ottensen. Anyone who knows Ikea will find their way around. The two types of elevators are annoying. Some only drive to the parking decks, others also to the sales aisles and restaurants.

This review refers exclusively to the quiz evening event on Thursday in November 2024. It was a very nicely organized event where you had the chance to get to know other people, quiz a little and have fun. One less break in the evening wouldn't be bad, but all in all the IKEA team put a lot of effort into it and deserves praise for it.

I find it annoying here, probably my inability to get anything out of shopping. It's confusing and there are no more pieces available by the meter. Sad 😢

Just like everywhere else in Germany, IKEA is well stocked. At 12 o'clock we're in the restaurant Had 2 menus on the tray. Unfortunately only one cash register was open and when it was our turn our food was cold. When we spoke to the cashier, she was very annoyed...she couldn't help it...if there were no staff there.

Easy to park even though is in busiest neighborhood in Hamburg. The traditional ikea middle in the city. I like it a lot

(Greetings to all GLG listeners <3) Through the app with the IKEA Family card and loyalty points, I had a coupon for a free Plantbullar dish in the Swedish restaurant. When I stood at the checkout with the tray and dish, the code didn't work. Another colleague who had just arrived at the shift change suddenly said that you always have to activate the code two hours in advance. There is clearly nothing about this in the terms and conditions of the coupon. I was then expected to pay the court. At this point, IKEA should have simply released the dish, the actual costs probably won't be much higher than €1-2. But instead of IKEA admitting its own failure and showing goodwill, the food ended up in the trash. I certainly don't pay to be taken for a ride by the employees. So much for sustainability at IKEA. Apart from that, the IKEA Altona is very confusing. If you have the opportunity, you should definitely avoid this branch and go to one of the other two in Hamburg.

A well-stocked furniture store!

We bought goods for several hundred euros in mid-October and used the delivery service because we couldn't have transported the goods home. We were also given a delivery date. However, no one came that day. A few days later, when I had to work, I contacted customer service via email and stated that I had not received my goods. I should actually hear back from Ikea later. At that point my delivery was still listed as “being commissioned”. After a few days I still hadn't received any response and looked at my customer account online again. Now my order suddenly appeared as delivered, even though I never received it! I called again. I was told that a delivery note had gone missing and that they would check the warehouse and that I would definitely get a call the following week. It was mid-November and I still didn't get a call. At the end of the 46th kW I called again and was told they would check the warehouse again and would get back to you the following week by Wednesday at the latest. To date I have not received a call or received my items that I have already paid for.

It says everywhere that as a family member you can park for free for up to three hours. The machine in the parking garage only says that you should not insert the family card where you insert the ticket. I would have guessed that too. But it doesn't say anywhere how to park for free now. In the end I paid the six euros because I wanted to go home at some point. Never again.

😒 There is no longer any breakfast during the week. There was not a single Ikea Advent calendar in this store. I rarely went home from Ikea without an item.

It was okay, I didn't find everything right away, but it was good.

I particularly like that the food in the restaurant is not only cheap and tasty, but also offers vegetarian options. What I also really appreciate is the opportunity to buy individual parts again and again. For example, if a drawer breaks, you can easily replace it - super sustainable! The location is good and there is enough parking space. Parking is even free for IKEA Family members. All in all, a top address for furniture, inspiration and a relaxing day of shopping.

In the middle of the city, smaller than "normal" Ikea branches, but you can get almost everything except the huge furniture. Treasure trove is a dream, so much has already been discovered there for unbeatable prices. No other Ikea in Hamburg can come close. Unfortunately, there are usually not enough cash registers at the top; instead of the normal self-service cash register, it's always the one where you need the app. But no one ever goes there. We don't need to talk about the restaurant, Ikea food in general has been horrible for years.

You have to drive up a rollercoaster to park your car, take an elevator that's working down to the ground floor, another elevator up, find what you're looking for without any help, order it on a screen that doesn't work, find an employee that can't make the screen worker either, walk back to his work station so he can print the offer and hand it to you, go through self checkout after learning the self checkout merid of steps, finally pay, go back down an elevator to pick up the item, then back up an elevator to the parking area, then down the car rollercoaster ride.

I'm here at the Altona branch in the last 2 weeks, I had to come back 4 times again and again because of incorrectly stated items. Each time I have to wait here for over 1 hour, hardly any nice employees, only 1 cash register, oven, 4 employees walking around at the card payment cash registers. Can't accept that Kuvalited always goes down 👎

Nicely designed rooms, but everything we were looking for (hair dryer holder, kitchen spatula holder, etc.) was available in the rooms but not available for purchase. The food in the restaurant was very tasty.

The company employs customer service departments with disrespectful, anti-customer people like Susen and Jan. For a company that normally has a 365-day product return policy, these two people are making things difficult and treating people badly. These are people who can give an inhumane reaction like "oha" based on the date the product was purchased. In the end, they reluctantly took the product back, but their ridiculous actions lowered the quality of the company.

If you're in Altona, head to IKEA

It is in a busy area and the usual products can be found in the large department store. I experienced kind and helpful service.

I think it's a shame that dogs are not allowed in your facility. I find the argument that some people are afraid of dogs far-fetched. After all, they also come across them on the street etc. In other furniture stores, dogs are allowed on a leash and are very welcome. I would really like to view and buy furniture from you instead of ordering. But unfortunately you don't deliver the desired items either. It's a shame I'm not welcome. I wouldn't have given it the forced star.

Nice Ikea. Unusual structure. Cash registers are upstairs for example. In summer you can sit outside and enjoy soft ice cream or the famous hot dogs.

What can you write about an Ikea? If you know one, you know them all. Everything well structured. Not everything is always in stock.

Nice things for comfortable home

Unloading is fine, but the access is a disaster, only bans on trucks, hidden entrance, hard to find the barrier behind which the entrance to the building is hidden, it's better to stand on the street and go down and ask because no one controls it, and inside everything is on razor blades, but it can be done with a warehouse, good luck to everyone who comes for the first time

Kitchen ordered. With assembly service. But they can't get it installed, don't really know what they're being asked to do, are unfriendly and incompetent, saw the worktop in half and otherwise just mess up and leave without having accomplished anything. I've never experienced anything like that. Then you sit there without a kitchen and can't reach anyone on the phone. The kitchen department (after all, you can reach someone there by email and they are nice and helpful) then sends you to customer service, and after another hour of waiting, customer service sends you to the so-called service department (which can only be reached in writing). And they then send you standard e-mails that you can expect a longer waiting time due to overload. So you don't have a kitchen for days (weeks?), even though everything is paid for, including installation. Actually a case for the consumer advice center. One wonders why Ikea works with such assembly companies, why no one can be reached by phone and why they can't take care of things more quickly in such cases. Big warning! And the drama continues during post-assembly. You have “no influence on the way the service partners work” – that’s surprising again!

Just IKEA ;-) As everywhere, very pleasant here, the usual range of goods, friendly staff, great climate. We always find everything we are looking for.

A tall, dark-skinned female employee at the checkout in the restaurant area works extremely, extremely, extremely slowly, which means that the food you bought has already cooled down by the time you pay. I don't understand why IKEA hires such an unprofessional person. Even though it's the restaurant and not directly IKEA, it still leaves a bad impression.
