Ikea Chemnitz: 1/26 Now it's almost all just sales. What used to be an experience and something special is degenerating into a standard furniture store. They've completely removed the children's pasta, and the seating is uninspired... Let's see when the management consultant takes the next step: paid parking, childcare gone, standing tables, a coin-operated machine by the restrooms, just keep going! If the customers' bad mood then rubs off on the employees (who still deserve praise!), management will have achieved its goal. Hopefully, other furniture stores will then take advantage of this ;-) 11/22 Unfortunately, it's been severely downsized - no children's cinema, pasta half the price (same price), reduced play equipment for children, etc. They're destroying themselves and it's only losing its appeal. Surely Corona is to blame ;-) But the staff are making up for it, keep it up, cost-cutting is disgusting - you'd be better off cutting yourselves out of business!!!

A small Ikea, so the selection is somewhat limited. Very labyrinthine. Currently, there are restrictions due to construction. The new food area with terminals for ordering and then picking up items takes some getting used to and isn't running very smoothly yet. Half of our order was forgotten. Also, it feels like a huge kitchen area with very few seats.

As expected, it was incredibly crowded yesterday. The staff on the exhibition floor were friendly, but the self-checkout employee was totally annoyed and only gave us curt answers to our questions. The merchandise collection was efficient. Despite the massive crowds, the restaurant staff were always friendly and helpful.

We bought new doors for our PAX wardrobes at IKEA today (worth about €250). After unpacking them, we spent half an hour removing the adhesive. Unfortunately, there were still a lot of sticky residues left behind, which are now permanently embedded in the door. Absolutely outrageous for the price. Not recommended.

It's a shame that there are only self-checkout lanes now and that staff are being reduced. A little chat at the checkout was always pleasant. I always enjoyed going to Ikea, but now... It's also a shame that you can no longer charge hybrid cars at Ikea, only pure electric cars.

Ikea staff weren't exactly customer-friendly and seemed rather annoyed. The worst part is the food bowls now in the restaurant – incredibly unhygienic! 🤔☹️ Somehow, Ikea Chemnitz is getting worse instead of better. The portable toilet unit they've installed also doesn't contribute to a positive customer experience – sad!

I went to IKEA on Saturday and had read the recent reviews beforehand. So I was curious to see what it was like. Yes, this IKEA is currently being renovated; you can see it in many places. For example, the restrooms at the entrance are no longer where they used to be, but there's a solution at the exit in the parking lot. The restaurant is decorated for Christmas, much brighter than the old one. Taste is subjective, but it's fine by me. Ordering via the terminals worked; it's a common system used in other restaurants. It was quite crowded, but that was to be expected on a Saturday just before Christmas. Unfortunately, one item was out of stock, but a friendly employee helped me with the order and delivery. Even experienced IKEA shoppers can find their way around a bit tricky at the moment. At the self-checkout, after a brief explanation from the employee, I was able to get through quickly. You could also pay with cash, which I wish was available in the restaurant. ... I had no complaints about the friendliness of the staff; perhaps it was just me 😊. It's true, not everything is perfect at IKEA, but I don't want to imagine what it means to manage such a major renovation while the store is open. Therefore, 4 stars. According to them, this renovation should be finished in early summer 2026; I'm looking forward to it!

The restaurant is awful after the renovation. There are no comfortable seating areas, everything is cold and lacks atmosphere. Ikea has such great decor, but the restaurant completely lacks it. It looks unfinished. Since I couldn't pay for my drink at the machine with cash and couldn't see the food beforehand (I like to see what I'm ordering), I left without eating. I left my basket with a few small items. Where are the cashiers? I don't see why I should have to do the cashiers' work myself, and I certainly don't want to take their jobs away—Ikea seems to have done that themselves. So, no food, no purchases, and no return for the time being.

I used to enjoy going to Ikea, but the renovation of the restaurant area and the checkout area is awful. It's all self-checkout now. I absolutely hate it. It couldn't be more impersonal, and it's incredibly annoying having to scan everything yourself. In my opinion, it's a disaster for customers. In the restaurant area, you have to place your order at a terminal and pay by card. Some customers can't figure it out and just leave. Visually, everything looks cold now, too. It was so much nicer before. It's a real shame...

It's currently under renovation. It's inconvenient. The parking lot has a gantry that prevents buses from entering. It's a furniture store, isn't it? And buses can't enter? I should add that there are no other restrictions besides the gantry. The parking lot doesn't have a roof.

Restaurant 0 points - I used to enjoy a trip to Ikea Chemnitz. First, a relaxing coffee and cake, or even breakfast. Planning ahead and then shopping. After the renovation, the restaurant has lost all its cozy atmosphere. It's like a cold, impersonal cafeteria, with no comfortable seating areas, no children's play area, and the food is no longer visible, just order screens. The "color scheme" is all glaring white. It used to be that pleasant ambiance that made shopping enjoyable, and I've been an Ikea fan for years. Now, it just makes you angry and want to leave as quickly as possible. My planned shopping trip was ruined. It's just a dreary, impersonal experience. It's extremely disappointing that customer-friendliness, child-friendliness, and a welcoming atmosphere weren't part of the restaurant's design. I'd really like to know why.

A classic IKEA store, nothing special, so why not 5 or 4 stars? For people with mobility issues, it's simply absurd – and this might sound ridiculous for a furniture store – that there are no rest areas or seating along the extremely long aisle. I simply can't manage the walk, so I always have to sneak back through the barrier and struggle down the extremely painful stairs, accompanied by a very humiliating announcement that it's not allowed. Being disabled or ill is punishment enough, but this treatment of disabled people is something IKEA should perhaps take to heart. In NO other store in Germany have I ever been so blatantly confronted with the fact that disabled people are deliberately excluded or simply forgotten. After all, not every disabled person uses a wheelchair.

Unfortunately, our visit to the Swedish restaurant today was very disappointing. The touchscreen at the self-service terminal is practically unusable, practically breaking your finger. The romaine lettuce was inedible, with brown, sometimes black, spots on the leaves, and the croutons were soggy. The salad was clearly from at least the day before. The Princess Cake was also past its prime. The other dishes were okay, but unfortunately not to my personal taste. The cleanliness of the tables was also unsatisfactory. It's a shame, but I won't be visiting this restaurant again anytime soon.

Dear IKEA fans, Why are they switching all the checkouts to self-checkout? I find it completely unacceptable when service staff watch customers having to scan their own purchases, thus taking over the work of the service personnel. Is this checkout system a way to alienate both customers and employees? Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with customer service, and that's perfectly obvious. Self-checkouts have nothing to do with progress; they're simply customer-unfriendly and an attempt to shift work onto customers and ultimately cut staff. If this continues, we'll probably have to buy our furniture elsewhere.

Today, a really nice colleague in the service department explained a few things to me in the app and added my FamilyCard. So far, I've always had good experiences at Ikea. The price-performance ratio is good, but unfortunately two of the three coffee machines were broken. Otherwise, it's great. Since the restaurant's renovation, it's unfortunately lost some of its charm. The wait times are longer, and there are sometimes queues at the terminals. And what's worse, the coffee isn't as good anymore. It's more water than anything else. A real shame.

We visited IKEA again after the renovation. It's always been a nice outing for us, and we usually eat in the restaurant while we're there. However, on our recent visit, the atmosphere in the restaurant put us off; the dining area now has the feel of a large company cafeteria. The cozy layout is gone, and the self-service ordering system at terminals was another turn-off. Even the checkout area near the exit of the store is now mostly equipped with self-checkout lanes. We were a bit disappointed and feel that the Chemnitz location has lost some of its appeal for us. It's a shame. Things could be done better, and we hope that the current situation, especially in the restaurant, won't remain as it is.

We were longtime customers and hardcore fans of Ikea in Chemnitz and have witnessed countless "improvements," but the current concept has completely missed the mark. The restaurant is a total disaster, with an atmosphere reminiscent of a train station. Blinding lights, self-service kiosks, queues held back by black and yellow barrier tape, unidentifiable food at inflated prices, unavailable pasta for children's meals, uncomfortable rows of seats with no privacy, cold and dreary, the children's play area eliminated, and the crucial quiet corner completely removed, right in the middle of the entrance to the restrooms. All the lovely decor and the inviting atmosphere that once encouraged customers to linger are gone. Nothing here now recalls the Ikea that Ikea once was. Even the staff seem irritable and annoyed... no welcoming atmosphere, no sense of place... we are incredibly disappointed... how wonderful the children's cinema was (a long time ago), the colorful ball pit WITHOUT a television, now just a dark and dreary holding pen, the warm, cozy restaurant and all the other snug corners... Even the layout and redesign of the sales floor itself has lost a lot of its appeal... the responsible controllers and financial jugglers have done a great job here, precisely missing the mark in terms of demand and even managing to ensure that Ikea Germany sees no use for the much-loved advent calendars this year, while they are available in neighboring Austria. A slap in the face. Absolutely shameful and sad. Not recommended.

Hey...dear Ikea team, I can only echo what the two previous reviewers said: my children and I were so excited for the restaurant's reopening. We always loved having breakfast there before, and then browsing the store to pick up a few things. The buffet was always so appealing – presentation matters! You want to see what you're getting. That's all gone now. The atmosphere has also been mentioned – unfortunately, it's taken a turn for the worse. Cold tiles, no visual appeal, zero coziness... If it stays like this, we probably won't be coming back. The restaurant was definitely a significant revenue driver for the store.

IKEA is always nice, this store is relatively small. I have a lot of furniture there and I'm in the restaurant quite often. The newly renovated IKEA only has self-checkout lanes. I actually like that in other stores and use them often. It seems to lead to shorter waiting times there, too. But IKEA has managed to make me feel extremely uncomfortable for the second time. The space is very limited, so it gets chaotic and difficult when you have more items. The first time, the checkout system flagged me as suspicious because I didn't have the expected number of items (more boxes than lids, which is what I needed). One of the employees came and checked absolutely EVERYTHING again, very, very carefully, as if I were a thief. Today I made sure to only take items that seemed to add up, but someone was apparently afraid I might forget to put the yellow bag back. DEAR IKEA STAFF, I spend my money with you AND I do your work. And now I feel like a criminal at the checkout, even though I'm GIVING you something. If you are so afraid that your (long-standing) customers will steal from you, then don't set up self-service checkouts, do the work yourself.

Some of the inconveniences caused by the renovation are tolerable, but what they've done to the restaurant is absolutely incomprehensible. Everything that worked well before is now completely broken. It's no longer cozy. There's no longer a separate play area for children, ordering at the terminal and with the staff is chaotic and disorganized, and half the dishes are either unavailable or sold out. You now have to wait much longer for your food than before. The children's menu is an outrage. They don't even have pasta anymore. Words fail me. It feels like a cheap cafeteria. In my opinion, this was planned completely without the customers' needs in mind. Very annoying and disappointing.

We were at IKEA yesterday and unfortunately had a negative experience. Prices must be clearly and unambiguously displayed. The amount shown at the checkout was higher than the amount on the counter. The discounted price is only available with the Family Card. I find this sales strategy unethical.

Only with this card would I have received the advertised price. This wasn't clearly communicated anywhere, which is simply misleading and utterly customer-unfriendly. I've made up my mind: I won't be visiting this store again. If the goal is to drive away loyal customers, this is the perfect way to do it. From now on, I'll only shop online – even if it's sometimes more expensive, at least I'll be spared the pressure of having to buy the Family Card.

⭐️ **1-Star Review of IKEA** Shopping at IKEA was a complete disappointment. The price in the store was around €15 more expensive without the Family Card – and even then, we would only have gotten the advertised price with the Family Card. It wasn't clearly stated anywhere that this card was required to get the lower price. This is simply misleading and customer-unfriendly. We will never visit this store again. If you want to drive away your customers, then by all means, continue doing what you're doing. From now on, we will only order online – it may sometimes be more expensive, but at least we won't be pressured into buying a Family Card.

I've always been a huge Ikea fan. I've collected catalogs from two decades, as well as the Family magazine; our apartment is mostly furnished with Ikea furniture. Yesterday I had the day off and wanted to go and browse. My last visit was in January/February. I felt very uncomfortable in my local Ikea in Chemnitz. Not much has changed on the upper floor, but I noticed that the sofa and coffee table area seemed very empty. I was interested in display cabinets, especially the new colored ones for the wall for €24.99. No matter which brochure I picked up, everything was only available to order online, plus delivery costs. That was already annoying. Then, in the restaurant, I felt like I'd stumbled into a factory canteen. Four large self-ordering displays like McDonald's, the same system with order numbers and pickup—it couldn't be more impersonal. And the rest of the store was very uninspired. The children's area was tucked away on one wall—no atmosphere whatsoever. The various chairs and tables don't change anything. The crowning glory was the redesigned lower level. Where did the cozy Christmas market go? Everything's just crammed into the aisle, next to towering warehouses and bare walls. The Swedish Christmas decorations are getting uglier and uglier, sorry. And finally, and this is the worst part, customers are forced to scan their own purchases, which leads to considerable waiting time and frustration. Where's the service in all this? Don't tell me you're responding to customer requests! Customers want a choice, to be able to decide between a staffed checkout and a self-checkout. But you don't offer that, and I find it unacceptable and coercive. The one regular checkout was closed. You get my money, and I still have to do the work of scanning? Big shopping trips are a thing of the past for me; I won't be doing them again. I also feel sorry for all the elderly people who can't manage so well or are too slow. Customer friendliness and service orientation look completely different, Ikea Chemnitz. Offering the Advent calendar only in neighboring countries is an absolute outrage, and Chemnitz can't be blamed for that. Furthermore, I'm not evaluating the ongoing renovations here, but rather their disappointing results so far.

The delivery from Ikea was a disaster. The delivery window was stated as 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The goods finally arrived at 7:15 PM. It's not only late, but also outrageous to use such an unreliable delivery company. I'll think very carefully before ordering from them again.

If you're into service deserts, then you should go to the Ikea in Chemnitz... because service is now a very low priority there... I was curious to see what the restaurant would look like after the renovation. Well, it used to be nicer and friendlier, but at least the area where kids are brainwashed by screens is finally gone... there are toys you can actually touch again... Yes, and back in the day, you'd walk through the showroom and greet people politely, but unfortunately, that's no longer necessary these days. Friendly employees, but they're all busy with their own private conversations... You walk on, frustrated, and are relieved to finally reach the checkouts, only to find they're all electronic. No one is there to scan your entire purchase, to have a friendly chat on the side. No, you're on your own... Okay, so you can finally get it over with, quickly scan the Trofast boxes, and then, lo and behold, you're randomly selected to have everything checked again. Then a very annoyed employee comes over and says that each color of box has its own number and they all have to be scanned individually. She did so, only to have to pay the same price after the whole ordeal... How is a layperson supposed to know that? Imagine parents with small children coming in, or people after a long day at work, and being expected to scan their own products... no, that's absolutely outrageous, and Ikea will definitely never see us again...

Today I visited IKEA with my wife. We were actually IKEA fans! It's shocking what this store has become. The restaurant has been remodeled; there's no longer a cash register, no more breakfast buffets. Ordering is only possible at the terminal! The interior is uncomfortable, lacking style. The displays and merchandise in the store are confusing, and the salespeople were unfriendly and irritating. The checkout area now consists entirely of self-checkouts. I wouldn't want to shop in such an impersonal environment!! Goodbye IKEA!!!

We used to enjoy going to the restaurant for breakfast, but not today! They use a terminal and no cash payments. Everything has become impersonal. It's very difficult for older people; they haven't been thought of. This results in a loss of customers, and many have turned back. It's a shame! The food has also declined (pancakes).

We were at your restaurant yesterday. There was a slight hiccup with the reservation, but you quickly found a perfect solution, and as an apology, the first round of drinks was on the house. The food was delicious, but unfortunately, the salads were forgotten with our main courses. However, this didn't bother any of us, as the portions were already quite generous, and none of us felt we needed an extra salad. A fantastic team and friendly hosts – what more can you say? So, we're happy to give you 5 stars all around.

We feel very comfortable here. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. Everyone found something they liked on the menu, the food was served quickly and tasted excellent once again. The price-performance ratio is right. We will definitely come back next Christmas. Thank you to the whole team.

I came here especially for ox cheeks... the friendly waitress said they were sold out... what a pity... BUT. Nobody can do anything if the oven breaks. The schnitzel was delicious.

My wife and I were looking for a canteen where we could get hot, tasty food with friendly service and a nice space where we could feel comfortable. We found it here in the business park.
