Hey...dear Ikea team, I can only echo what the two previous reviewers said: my children and I were so excited for the restaurant's reopening. We always loved having breakfast there before, and then browsing the store to pick up a few things. The buffet was always so appealing – presentation matters! You want to see what you're getting. That's all gone now. The atmosphere has also been mentioned – unfortunately, it's taken a turn for the worse. Cold tiles, no visual appeal, zero coziness... If it stays like this, we probably won't be coming back. The restaurant was definitely a significant revenue driver for the store.

IKEA is always nice, this store is relatively small. I have a lot of furniture there and I'm in the restaurant quite often. The newly renovated IKEA only has self-checkout lanes. I actually like that in other stores and use them often. It seems to lead to shorter waiting times there, too. But IKEA has managed to make me feel extremely uncomfortable for the second time. The space is very limited, so it gets chaotic and difficult when you have more items. The first time, the checkout system flagged me as suspicious because I didn't have the expected number of items (more boxes than lids, which is what I needed). One of the employees came and checked absolutely EVERYTHING again, very, very carefully, as if I were a thief. Today I made sure to only take items that seemed to add up, but someone was apparently afraid I might forget to put the yellow bag back. DEAR IKEA STAFF, I spend my money with you AND I do your work. And now I feel like a criminal at the checkout, even though I'm GIVING you something. If you are so afraid that your (long-standing) customers will steal from you, then don't set up self-service checkouts, do the work yourself.

Some of the inconveniences caused by the renovation are tolerable, but what they've done to the restaurant is absolutely incomprehensible. Everything that worked well before is now completely broken. It's no longer cozy. There's no longer a separate play area for children, ordering at the terminal and with the staff is chaotic and disorganized, and half the dishes are either unavailable or sold out. You now have to wait much longer for your food than before. The children's menu is an outrage. They don't even have pasta anymore. Words fail me. It feels like a cheap cafeteria. In my opinion, this was planned completely without the customers' needs in mind. Very annoying and disappointing.

We were at IKEA yesterday and unfortunately had a negative experience. Prices must be clearly and unambiguously displayed. The amount shown at the checkout was higher than the amount on the counter. The discounted price is only available with the Family Card. I find this sales strategy unethical.

⭐️ **1-Star Review of IKEA** Shopping at IKEA was a complete disappointment. The price in the store was around €15 more expensive without the Family Card – and even then, we would only have gotten the advertised price with the Family Card. It wasn't clearly stated anywhere that this card was required to get the lower price. This is simply misleading and customer-unfriendly. We will never visit this store again. If you want to drive away your customers, then by all means, continue doing what you're doing. From now on, we will only order online – it may sometimes be more expensive, but at least we won't be pressured into buying a Family Card.

Good selection. Unfortunately, it's very disappointing since the renovation... both the restaurant and the new "checkout system." It just doesn't feel comfortable anymore. There are no more advent calendars this year – for everyone who goes there specifically for that. Since the renovation, it's also quite dizzying to walk through!

One star for IKEA – my shopping experience was beyond disappointing. In the store, I discovered that the displayed price was a whopping €15 higher without the Family Card. Only with this card would I have received the advertised price. This wasn't clearly communicated anywhere, which is simply misleading and utterly customer-unfriendly. I've made up my mind: I won't be visiting this store again. If the goal is to drive away loyal customers, this is the perfect way to do it. From now on, I'll only shop online – even if it's sometimes more expensive, at least I'll be spared the pressure of having to buy the Family Card.

I've always been a huge Ikea fan. I've collected catalogs from two decades, as well as the Family magazine; our apartment is mostly furnished with Ikea furniture. Yesterday I had the day off and wanted to go and browse. My last visit was in January/February. I felt very uncomfortable in my local Ikea in Chemnitz. Not much has changed on the upper floor, but I noticed that the sofa and coffee table area seemed very empty. I was interested in display cabinets, especially the new colored ones for the wall for €24.99. No matter which brochure I picked up, everything was only available to order online, plus delivery costs. That was already annoying. Then, in the restaurant, I felt like I'd stumbled into a factory canteen. Four large self-ordering displays like McDonald's, the same system with order numbers and pickup—it couldn't be more impersonal. And the rest of the store was very uninspired. The children's area was tucked away on one wall—no atmosphere whatsoever. The various chairs and tables don't change anything. The crowning glory was the redesigned lower level. Where did the cozy Christmas market go? Everything's just crammed into the aisle, next to towering warehouses and bare walls. The Swedish Christmas decorations are getting uglier and uglier, sorry. And finally, and this is the worst part, customers are forced to scan their own purchases, which leads to considerable waiting time and frustration. Where's the service in all this? Don't tell me you're responding to customer requests! Customers want a choice, to be able to decide between a staffed checkout and a self-checkout. But you don't offer that, and I find it unacceptable and coercive. The one regular checkout was closed. You get my money, and I still have to do the work of scanning? Big shopping trips are a thing of the past for me; I won't be doing them again. I also feel sorry for all the elderly people who can't manage so well or are too slow. Customer friendliness and service orientation look completely different, Ikea Chemnitz. Offering the Advent calendar only in neighboring countries is an absolute outrage, and Chemnitz can't be blamed for that. Furthermore, I'm not evaluating the ongoing renovations here, but rather their disappointing results so far.

The delivery from Ikea was a disaster. The delivery window was stated as 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The goods finally arrived at 7:15 PM. It's not only late, but also outrageous to use such an unreliable delivery company. I'll think very carefully before ordering from them again.

If you're into service deserts, then you should go to the Ikea in Chemnitz... because service is now a very low priority there... I was curious to see what the restaurant would look like after the renovation. Well, it used to be nicer and friendlier, but at least the area where kids are brainwashed by screens is finally gone... there are toys you can actually touch again... Yes, and back in the day, you'd walk through the showroom and greet people politely, but unfortunately, that's no longer necessary these days. Friendly employees, but they're all busy with their own private conversations... You walk on, frustrated, and are relieved to finally reach the checkouts, only to find they're all electronic. No one is there to scan your entire purchase, to have a friendly chat on the side. No, you're on your own... Okay, so you can finally get it over with, quickly scan the Trofast boxes, and then, lo and behold, you're randomly selected to have everything checked again. Then a very annoyed employee comes over and says that each color of box has its own number and they all have to be scanned individually. She did so, only to have to pay the same price after the whole ordeal... How is a layperson supposed to know that? Imagine parents with small children coming in, or people after a long day at work, and being expected to scan their own products... no, that's absolutely outrageous, and Ikea will definitely never see us again...

Today I visited IKEA with my wife. We were actually IKEA fans! It's shocking what this store has become. The restaurant has been remodeled; there's no longer a cash register, no more breakfast buffets. Ordering is only possible at the terminal! The interior is uncomfortable, lacking style. The displays and merchandise in the store are confusing, and the salespeople were unfriendly and irritating. The checkout area now consists entirely of self-checkouts. I wouldn't want to shop in such an impersonal environment!! Goodbye IKEA!!!

I ordered my kitchen online. It was supposed to be delivered between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. After receiving the information that the delivery would be between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., I prepared myself for that. At 9 p.m., no one was there yet. So my kitchen hadn't arrived, and I waited for nothing. I couldn't reach anyone at that time either. Either you find a new delivery company or do it yourself. But that's a disgrace!

We used to enjoy going to the restaurant for breakfast, but not today! They use a terminal and no cash payments. Everything has become impersonal. It's very difficult for older people; they haven't been thought of. This results in a loss of customers, and many have turned back. It's a shame! The food has also declined (pancakes).

Unfortunately, I can only agree with the negative reviews. The renovation has caused total chaos; save yourself the trip. The icing on the cake was the unfriendly lady who handled the complaint. Even though I wanted to exchange a wardrobe just two weeks after purchasing it because all the drawers were stuck and the veneer was damaged upon unpacking, she accused me of being at fault (I'd put the wardrobe together incorrectly!!!). I don't understand customer service at all. Furthermore, IKEA has a return policy that every employee should be aware of and implement. Perhaps the staff should be retrained, including regarding product knowledge. After a discussion and involving another colleague, a credit note was finally issued.

For me, it's very confusing. If you're looking for something or have forgotten something, you have to go back... you have to walk through everything again, no shortcuts... Employees send back and forth because they probably don't know where the item is. I felt like I was in Asterix and Obelix's A38 pass. Never again!

visited on October 18 I tried to ask a young lady with glasses a simple question about the Kasse. She said “ein Moment,” so I waited while she finished helping another customer. But when she was done, instead of helping me, she started assisting someone else. When I said “excuse me” again, she repeated that I had to wait. Update 2025: We were in Chemnitz today around 6:00 PM. First, we went to the restaurant. Everything was new there. There are now 4! terminals where you can order and pay for your food. If you're not as tech-savvy as the elderly couple sitting next to us, you're in trouble without help. But that's just a side note. For me, today's visit to the restaurant was my last meal. Coffee and cake, yes, not a second meal. The schnitzel was a complete mush. The salad was brown in many places. Even though the food is otherwise inexpensive, the price-performance ratio isn't right. Some shelves were empty. Okay, they're currently remodeling, but it's been the same for the last three visits. I'm not drawn to it anymore. IKEA, you can do better... Typical IKEA. Unfortunately, not all products are available, hence the downgrade.

Incredible decline! The restaurant is completely useless. The staff are very unfriendly, the waffles and children's pasta are no longer available, and the overall quality is a 6-. The cash registers at the end are also just to keep up with the latest technology. It's incomprehensible for older people or those who aren't completely up-to-date with technology. During my last visit, I noticed that IKEA Chemnitz is becoming increasingly convoluted. They're currently undergoing renovations, but I don't see it as an advantage. As a customer, you're increasingly forced to run into every nook and cranny, and there are hardly any shortcuts to get to the checkout faster. The aisles are also too narrow, so you end up weaving behind all the customers. Not for those in a hurry. Apparently, the checkout area only has self-scanners—you either like it or you don't. I doubt older customers will find this convenient. Also, some items are out of stock or no longer available. I used to be an IKEA fan, but I'm not anymore.

Our furniture, including the kitchen, consists almost entirely of IKEA furniture. Unfortunately, they only have self-checkouts anymore, which is very sad. I certainly won't be taking over the IKEA employees' jobs and checking out myself for larger purchases. We'll look at other furniture stores in the future if this continues.

We're actually big Ikea fans. But these days, Ikea Chemnitz is just awful. Nobody can do anything about the renovations, which is understandable. But the staff are just annoyed, with rude replies and little to no help. People even get on their nerves when you ask for customer service. The return counter topped it all. Super rude. No help. They even told you to break the items yourself. So no return. The worst part, though, are those horrible checkouts at the end. No more employees (even though they weren't friendly either). Help? Well, rude and clumsy replies, and they emptied our entire shopping cart again. But everything was fine. The restaurant now looks even worse than it did when we started. Oh, did I already mention how unfriendly everyone in Chemnitz is these days? Bottom line: if word gets out in Sweden about how the service is in Germany... What a shame. By the way, we regularly go to Ikea in Almhult, Sweden. That's what you call friendly staff and customer service. Plus, the food in the restaurant is a thousand times better than in Germany, where they offer a completely different selection. You should consider doing something like that. Chemnitz can actually do it with these employees.

Last Thursday was probably the last time I went shopping at IKEA Chemnitz. The renovation, with its chaos and confusion, has been going on for many months, and the restaurant has been closed for ages. That's something I could live with. But I honestly think it's disgusting that the checkout area is now exclusively self-checkout. Couldn't they leave one or two regular checkouts so that people at least have the choice between friendly, personal service and self-checkout? I actually felt at home at IKEA. I really enjoyed browsing and being inspired. Almost everything in my house is made of IKEA furniture (with some modifications). But something snapped inside me on Thursday when I saw this impersonal checkout process.

We bought a kitchen, specifically deciding against a discount because we thought Ikea would be better. But Ikea is simply complete garbage these days. We've been there four times now and had to exchange things because they arrived broken, completely wrong parts were delivered, or some parts were missing (the invoice showed the correct parts, but they only delivered the wrong ones or none at all). Of course, the fault could also have been with the shipping company. Once, we had to exchange the parts we had already exchanged again, or rather, one-third of them, because the wrong parts arrived again. Furthermore, the quality has gotten really poor. We have a tall cabinet with a pull-out frame, and only 50% of the plastic holders for the metal baskets fit. Half fit in well and fit perfectly, the other half doesn't fit at all, and you can't force them in because they break very quickly. Next time, I'll probably go for a discount! They have the same problems, but at least it's cheaper. However, I have to commend the employees at the returns counters; they are very competent, helpful, and friendly.

A large selection, many items are immediately available. The quality is absolutely excellent, and the service is always friendly and helpful. Thanks to the self-checkouts, shopping is quick – and, of course, the obligatory hot dog is a must at the end.

No, it's very confusing due to ongoing construction work. Only self-service checkouts, although there are enough staff at the checkout area and they're happy to help with any problems. So why not at least staff a "regular" checkout? The restaurant is also uninviting.

Nice decor, friendly and helpful staff. :) The second-chance corner near the cash registers is a great idea for giving flawed products... well... a second (cheap) chance :D As of September 2025, I'd like the restaurant back. I would be very grateful for a rough date for when the renovations will be completed. :)

I'm deeply disappointed. I've been looking forward to the Gifflar cinnamon rolls for months. But the essence of life (cinnamon rolls) wasn't available!!!!!!!!!! I drove to IKEA, walked through the entire building, and there were no Gifflar cinnamon rolls. That was probably my last time at IKEA...

It is with regret that I feel compelled to write a very negative review today. The Billy shelf in Birke has been unavailable at the Chemnitz branch for months. Upon inquiry, we were simply advised to travel to Erfurt – an option that was simply not practical for us. Ordering through the branch itself seemed completely out of the question; the only way was via the online shop, which incurs an additional shipping charge of €15. This approach gives the impression of a lack of organization or even strategic intent, especially since, in this day and age, it should be considered good service to facilitate customer orders without any detours. Unfortunately, this disappointing experience was compounded by the delivery of a damaged shelf. Overall, this leaves the impression that customer friendliness and logistics optimization at the Chemnitz branch require considerable improvement.

Yesterday, the two of us went out to eat together, and it was a lovely evening! The drinks and food arrived quickly and were delicious! Quick service was important to us because the restaurant opens at 5:30 p.m. and our child was with her grandmother! The portion was perfect and the atmosphere was lovely! I also noticed the pleasant scent in the restroom! All in all, a fantastic evening! We'd gladly go back!

We visited as a family to try a new restaurant. Unfortunately, we were somewhat disappointed overall. The food wasn't good value for money. For a €20 burger with supposedly 240g of meat, I expected something special compared to the competition. Instead, it was rather average. The burger bun was dry, the sauces were bland, pre-made sauces, and the fries could have used another minute. The braised ox cheeks were also a bit dry and came with very little sauce. The appetizers were okay. The pumpkin wedges were tasty. The seasoned beef was also good, but the cheese was barely cooked. What really bothered us, however, were the long wait times and the poor communication from the staff. Our reservation was checked, and we were shown to our table. The second waiter didn't ask about our drink orders but instead checked our reservation again. After that, 30 minutes passed before we could order our drinks. The food also took a very long time, as we had to wait ages to order. No waiter even looked around or asked if we needed anything else. We ended up getting our own spices. There was no farewell either. The waiter probably didn't think the tip was enough, and with a bill of almost €140 and such a long wait, a €4 tip was the only option. I usually stick to the 10% rule. My family wouldn't have given anything at all. We were dining with elderly family members for whom easily accessible restrooms were important. The restroom wasn't clearly signposted and we only found it after asking. The restaurant itself was at least pleasant in terms of noise level, but a few more coat hooks would have been nice. So there's definitely room for improvement.

My wife and I were looking for a canteen where we could get hot, tasty food with friendly service and a nice space where we could feel comfortable. We found it here in the business park. Keep up the good work, colleagues, we'll be happy to come back as often as possible! Thank you very much and see you soon, H. & F. W
