HUGO I Trattoria Villa Italia in Gelsenkirchen

Solider Italiener mit Herz und gutem Service! Das Restaurant Hugo an der Pastorstraße ist in Gelsenkirchen mittlerweile eine echte Institution, untergebracht in den Räumlichkeiten der ehemaligen Diskothek beziehungsweise Kneipe, die man noch bestens aus Jugendzeiten kennt. Das Essen ist durchweg solide. Auch wenn es sich vielleicht nicht um die absolute Gourmet-Spitzengastronomie handelt, kann man hier wirklich gut und herzlich essen. Die Auswahl passt und geschmacklich waren durch die Bank alle mit ihren Gerichten zufrieden. Der Gastraum entspricht einem klassischen italienischen Restaurant-Standard. Es ist nicht super nobel und an manchen Stellen sieht man, dass es leicht in die Jahre gekommen ist, aber das tut dem Abenden keinen Abbruch. Der Service ist durchweg freundlich, aufmerksam und geht sehr gut auf die Wünsche der Gäste ein. Wir waren mit einer größeren Gruppe vor Ort und hatten einen rundum gelungenen Abend. Da das Lokal sehr gut besucht und entsprechend voll ist, sollte man auf jeden Fall vorab einen Tisch reservieren. Wer in Gelsenkirchen nach einem ehrlichen, guten Italiener sucht, ist im Hugo bestens aufgehoben!

Wir haben heute die Taufe unseres Sohnes hier gefeiert und waren rundum zufrieden. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, das Essen hervorragend und das Ambiente einfach wunderschön. Vielen Dank an das gesamte Team für den tollen Service und den gelungenen Tag. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können das Restaurant nur weiterempfehlen!

Service leider nicht zufriedenstellend. Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 6 Personen vor Ort. Wir mussten recht lange auf die Getränke warten. Dann wurden 2 von 6 Getränken falsch gebracht. Auf die Möglichkeit später erneut Getränke nachzubestellen mussten wir ewig warten. Diese 2. Bestellung wurden dann komplett vergessen, sodass wir nach langer Wartezeit nochmals nachbestellen mussten. Bei der Abrechnung am Ende waren dann auch noch die nicht gelieferten Getränke mit auf der Rechnung. Ein nogo. Das Essen war allerdings sehr gut. Das Ambiente auf der Terrasse ist herausragend.

Wie immer leckere Pizza und tolle Vorspeisen.

Nach langer Krankheit waren wir am 08.07.26 endlich wieder in der Trattoria Italia., (Hugo) Obwohl dort in der Regel im Garten keine Reservierung erfolgt, war für uns der Tisch 37 für 6 Personen schön eingedeckt. Die - wie immer - lockere Begrüßung durch Frank war nach meiner Krankheit schon Balsam für die Seele. Der Service war aufmerksam und nicht aufdringlich, es wurden schnell die Bestellungen aufgenommen, und nach normaler Wartezeit serviert. Meine Gäste waren von dem schönen Ambiente begeistert, wie auch von der Qualität der Speisen und allen Mitarbeitern/innen im Service. Kurz: Es war wieder ein sehr schöner Abend und ich freue mich schon auf unseren nächsten Besuch bei Feunden.

Früher Disco heute top Restaurant

Wir haben eine Pizza Tonno e Cipolla und Tagliatelle mit Lachs, dazu Minzwasser bestellt. War sehr lecker! Dazu gab es eine scharfe Soße und Knoblauchsoße, ebenfalls hervorragend. Es war unser erster Besuch und wir wurden von einer sehr freundlichen Servicekraft betreut. Besonders das Tiramisu ohne Alkohol hat uns begeistert. Auch die Location hat uns gut gefallen. Vielen Dank. Wir kommen gerne wieder! Ein kleiner Tipp: Für Parkplätze am besten auf die Seitenstraßen ausweichen.

Die Atmosphäre und die Kellner waren wirklich nett. Aber, und ich weiß, das klingt gewagt, für mich ist das kein italienisches Restaurant. Pasta Carbonara mit Sahne? Und Pizza mit Ananas? Im Ernst? Sowas ist in Italien absolut tabu. Deshalb nur 3 Sterne fürs Essen.

Wir Mädels, lieben es uns dort zum Essen zur verabreden . Ambiente , Atmosphäre , Sauberkeit, der Service das Essen einwandfrei . Freue mich auf das nächste Mal🥰

Neue Lieblingspizzeria. Das Essen kann ich durchweg empfehlen, ob Vorspeisen, Hauptgänge oder Nachspeisen. Sehr lecker 😋 Die Atmosphäre würde ich bezeichnen als „Bei Freunden essen gehen“ Wirklich freundliches, aufgeschlossenes und den Gästen zugewandtes Personal in authentischer Art und Weise. 😊

Vorspeise : Brot mit Kräuterbutter, Pizza Diavolo war gut und lecker, die Spaghetti Carbonara war wohl etwas salzig. Die Portionen war sehr gut für den Preis. Der Tisch, war in einer kleinen Nische im Durchgangsverkehr, nicht sehr schön. Man hat auf einem Bücherregal geschaut. Der Service alle Mitarbeiter/in, sehr freundlich und nett.

Der Tisch war in klein Bereich, jede Menge Bücher sah man und es liefen die Leute häufig hin und her. Die Lautstärke war unangenehm, die Pizza war wohl Lecker, die Cabrona war leider salzig. So war der Service freundlich. Dennoch alles gute.

Gestern, bei über 30 Grad, war es ein etwas holpriger Abend im Hugo. Aber der Reihe nach. Mit einem befreundeten Ehepaar waren wir dort, im wohl schönsten Biergarten Gelsenkirchens, verabredet. Wir stellten fest, dass wir die meisten Personen im Service noch nicht kannten. Patron Rosario eröffnete uns, dass er am heutigen Tage den Ausfall von drei Stammkräften und den seines Kompagnons zu beklagen hat. Doch statt zu verzweifeln hat er alle Hebel in Bewegung gesetzt, um von einem Kumpel Personal für den Abend zu bekommen und hat obendrein seine gastrofremde Schwester aus Dortmund geholt. Demnach kannten sich die Mitarbeitenden weder mit der Speisekarte, noch mit den Abläufen im Hugo aus. Statt meines Salats bekam ich zuerst eine Pizza, es fehlte Besteck und manches dauerte etwas länger. Trotz der holprigen Abläufe haben wir einen schönen Abend im Hugo verbracht, die Qualität der Speisen war wie immer gut und das zusammengewürfelte Serviceteam gab sein Bestes. Die Gäste im proppevollen Garten hatten offensichtlich Verständnis für die Situation. Patron Rosario merkte man den stressigen Tag wenig an, er zeigte sein gewohnt freundliches Gemüt, dazu immer ein Lächeln und ein paar Worte für den Gast. Chapeau!! Er hätte auch den Kopf in Sand stecken und zu machen können. Hat er aber nicht. Wir wissen, warum das Hugo I unser Lieblingsrestaurant ist. Hier arbeiten Menschen, deren Bestreben es ist, dem Gast schöne, genussvolle Stunden zu bereiten. Wir freuen uns auf unseren nächsten Besuch. Micki

Waren gestern mit 8 Personen dort essen, Speisekarte gab es erst nachdem wir Getränke bestellt haben,mein Mineralwasser musste ich 3 mal bestellen,bis es da war.wurden alle geduzt.In der Küche wird der Ruccula direkt aus der Verpackung in die Schüssel gelegt,ohne Waschen, Kontrolle ob vielleicht etwas dazwischen ist,totales Durcheinander,sassen direkt an der Küche, Pizza war gut

Wir wollten gestern Abend (27.02.26) den Geburtstag von meiner Frau feiern. Wir haben vor reserviert und ich habe extra anmerken lassen, das wir eine Geburtstag feiern. Als wir ankamen, haben wir einen sehr schlechten und in der letzten Ecke getrieben Platz bekomme. Der Tisch war kaputt und in der Ecke gab es kein Licht, somit saßen wir im dunkeln. Zu dem wurde nichts an dem Tisch vorbereitet, keine Deko wie abgemacht noch waren Teller oder sonstiges serviert. Um 19uhr haben wir unsere Bestellung auf. Nach Öfteren nachfragen wie lange unser Essen denn noch braucht, wurde uns sehr unfreundlich vom Kellner gesagt, das wir Geduld haben müssen. Die Vorspeise kam nach 1std. Bestellt war einmal Bruschetta und Rinder Carpaccio. Ich wendete mich an den Chef, da unser Essen immer noch nicht kam und wir schon beim Nachbar Tisch der 1std nach uns kam, sahen das die ihr Essen bekam. Müsste ich wieder einmal nachfragen. Ich wurde abgewimmelt und mir wurde erklärt, das es normal sei zu warten. Nach insgesamt 2std Warte Zeit, war der Geburtstag gelaufen. Wir gingen und beim raus gehen, wendete ich mich nochmals an den Chef und erklärte ihm das wir das respektlos fanden und so einen Service nicht unterstützen. Dann hieß es, das Essen sei jetzt fertig und wir müssen das zahlen, ich sagte ihm das wir die Getränke bezahlen und das war’s. Wir werden nie wieder kommen

Es war ein wunderbarer Abend. Mit super Service und dem besten, italienischem Essen. Trotz das wir direkt zwischen Küche und Bar saßen, haben wir wirklich nichts zu beanstanden. Volle Empfehlung.

Gutes Restaurant leckeres Essen 😋

Service sehr schlecht organisiert und unstrukturiert! Essen ist leider nicht so gut wie gedacht. Sehr Lautes Umfeld! Die Kellner waren sehr übergriffig und nicht so lustig wie sie dachten zu sein! Wir kommen definitiv nicht wieder!

Das Essen war ganz ordentlich , wobei die Carbonara sehr nach Sahne , weniger nach frischen Ei schmeckte aber der frische Schinken glich den Geschmack gut aus . Der Pizza Teig war recht zäh und leider sind die Pizzen nicht vorgeschnitten , der Belag aber üppig. Das Ambiente ist eher für ein schnelles Abendessen geeignet , da es recht laut war und Unterhaltungen nicht wirklich gut zu führen sind . Fazit : kann man hingehen aber kein Highlight .

Sehr gute Restaurant , wirklich sehr schmackhaft und immer alles auf dem Punkt . Mein persönliches Highlight ist hier immer Bruschetta mit Rucola und Schafskäse als Vorspeise und dann auch noch die Nudeln mit Gemüse und Gambas . Habe ich noch nie woanders besser gegessen . Der Service ist auch immer sehr nett und man kennt sich mittlerweile . Wirklich schön . Das einzige kleine Manko ist ,das es manchmal etwas wuselig ist ,da es wirklich fast immer voll ist . Deswegen muss man am besten auch reservieren. Aber das wuselige nehme ich gerne in Kauf ,wenn man so eine gute Qualität an Essen und Herzlichkeit bekommt .

Leider 2h auf das Essen gewartet. Das kam jedoch erst einmal vor, ansonsten wie immer alles top

The food at HUGO | Trattoria Villa Italia was of good quality and nicely prepared. The dishes were fresh and well presented. The restaurant has a calm, pleasant atmosphere and is a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. Overall, it was a positive experience and worth a visit.

Great hosts, excellent with kids, great food

The food was delicious – we all had different pizzas. As a small appetizer, we were served bread with herb butter, olives, and pepperoni. Although we had a table where the waiters frequently walked by, I have to say that we weren't really given much attention. However, I would like to mention that the staff were very friendly.

Four of us dined at Hugo. The ambiance is cozy, quite nicely decorated, and the service is friendly, relaxed, fast, and cheerful. The appetizers – classic bruschetta, tomato soup, minestrone, and vitello tonnato – were generally good, although the vitello tonnato was quite sour – a bit unusual for a freshly prepared dish. All in all, it was still okay. For main courses, we had three pizzas and one spaghetti carbonara. The pizzas were acceptable in terms of taste, but the three people who ate them felt heavy in their stomachs. The spaghetti was al dente, but the carbonara was unfortunately – I have to say it harshly – a disaster. It was basically just a thick cream sauce with a few pieces of ham, which was extremely heavy in the stomach. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with an Italian carbonara. Moreover, there was no (freshly grated) Parmesan cheese or even Grana Padano. The prices are a bit higher, which unfortunately doesn't quite match the quality of the food we experienced. Conclusion: The location and service are good, but the food is average at best. Therefore, unfortunately, we don't recommend it.

Yesterday, my wife and I went to HUGO I Trattoria Villa Italia in Gelsenkirchen for our anniversary – and we were absolutely thrilled! The food was excellent and of the highest quality, the atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. An all-around wonderful evening that we won't soon forget. We'd love to come back – highly recommended!

The food was delicious and the portions were really generous. Unfortunately, the service left something to be desired; drinks were only refilled after repeated requests. When we wanted to pay the bill, no one came at first, and after the bill arrived, no one wanted to accept the money, so we ended up leaving the money at the counter.

The food was good, albeit a bit expensive. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding with the waiter at the end: When he asked how it tasted, we said it was delicious. Apparently, he took that as 'so-so,' because his reaction was quite arrogant and inappropriate. This unfortunately somewhat tarnished an otherwise lovely evening. This is completely unacceptable.

Good food - terrible service. Absolutely horrible waiter with lines like "Put your cell phone away, you're not supposed to do that." "You only pay together and tip in cash." In return for the rude lines, you have to wait forever for anything, or have to beg repeatedly if you want to order something else. We're definitely not going here again.

The food is, as it has been for years, very, very good. My family and I have been guests at this restaurant for a long time. But what I experienced there on April 23, 2025 is anything but beautiful. For the second time, my request for a birthday decoration was not fulfilled. The waiters talk endlessly and when you notice that their bad jokes don't go over well, you blink your eye. Because of my terminal illness I have become very fat. That's no reason to compare me to my 84 year old mother. Years ago, when I looked much better, I was treated differently. I also have the feeling that there are certain prejudices there. You can't tell everyone how wealthy they are. Conclusion: as much as I love the food at Villa Italia, no one will see me or my family there anymore.

Absolute recommendation! The reception in the trattoria was very friendly. The service, in my opinion, is top notch. I like it when my contact person is funny and still on task. The portions were large, so the three of us were able to help ourselves to a portion of two.

At first it was a bit hectic and we had to wait a little longer. The waiters were still super nice and friendly the entire time. The food was very tasty, the tomato mozzarella wasn't quite ours (the tomatoes were cut too thick and the mozzarella was too firm), but that's also a matter of taste and didn't spoil the evening for us. The main courses were all delicious and everything was fresh. All in all, a successful evening and the four waiters rocked the big shop. Thank you, we'll be happy to come back!

Delicious pizza...but at €19.90, not exactly a bargain. The appetizer (a few olives and a few slices of bread) wasn't ordered but was charged. Mineral water was ordered for one person...and we got a large bottle. All five people were very satisfied with the food...although it's cheaper on Sylt, Pörtschach, or Düsseldorf.

We were at Villa Italia on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Unfortunately, we had to wait for almost 20 minutes at our seats before we were even asked for drinks. Unfortunately, we were then also disappointed with the food. The bruschetta with mozzarella was a soft, tasteless mess. The main course of pizza and penne also took a long time to arrive, and some of it came out wrong. Both dishes tasted okay, but nothing more. All in all, we paid a little over 60 euros; sorry, but you can eat a lot better for that price. The long wait and the confusion were justified by a large group of 30 people who were in the restaurant at the same time. Unfortunately, that's not a good argument for a restaurant that isn't prepared for guests.

I was in this great restaurant for the first time today. The food was excellent, the service was excellent and the hosts get an extra star. The next time I visit GE, the first thing on my to-do list is a visit to your restaurant. Kind regards from Ibiza...

Overall OK, although not worth the price. In the future, please ask proactively how you want your meat and don't just assume it's rare. The beef fillet tasted great, but without any questions it was simply served rare, i.e. more or less raw. At 170 euros for 3 people I would expect to be picked up here.

Favorite Italian of our friend from Gelsenkirchen. It's a bit more elegant in my opinion. The food tasted excellent, both fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. The service was very nice. It was also very crowded, we made reservations a week in advance for Saturday evening. We were able to park for free on a side street without any problem. I really liked it, I can only warmly recommend it!

For a long time I was looking for an Italian restaurant where everything was right. Both the food and the location. This is where everything comes together. The price of the food is a little more expensive, but I'm happy to pay that because everything else is good. However, it is always quite full, which means it can be a bit noisy and restless at times, so that should be taken into account when visiting. I would recommend a table reservation and a quick call the day before. It has already happened twice that my reservation was not in the book.

Yesterday I was invited to dinner at Hugo Trattoria Villa Italia because it was my birthday. I was very happy with everything! I had a starter soup and my main course was spaghetti with shrimp and other delicacies. It was very tasty and the service was very friendly. The sanitary facilities were very clean and tastefully equipped. If you would like to have a nice evening, visit Hugo!

Celebrated my brother-in-law's 70th birthday there. Great location for large celebrations on the upper floor with a great ambience. Food, service and everything else was top.
