Very, very tasty food in a nice atmosphere. One star deduction each for the steam in the restaurant and the long wait for the food.

Geschmacklich durchschnittlich, Portionen okay, Service könnte schneller sein (2x mal mehr als 20 Minuten Servierzeit), Bedienung hat die Gäste den Tisch abräumen lassen,...

Waren Mittags hier - super unfähige Bedienung, nach 20 Minuten wurde erst die Bestellung aufgenommen und nach 60 Minuten immer noch kein Essen da. Für einen „Business Lunch“ ist das leider nicht akzeptabel. Soviel Zeit muss man da normalerweise nicht mitbringen. Das Essen an sich ist sehr gut.

Das House of India ist im Oktober 2019 von seiner beengten Bleibe in der Königsstraße hierher gezogen. Das Essen ist nach wie vor gut bis sehr gut. Üblicherweise wird europäisch scharf gewürzt. Wer aber möchte, kriegt das Essen auch in der nordindischen schärferen Variante. Es war dabei auch kein Problem, sich übrig gebliebenes Essen einpacken zu lassen. Punktabzug nur für die noch etwas abgenutzten WCs, die offenbar nach der Übernahme des Restaurants noch nicht renoviert wurden.

We decided to try out this new restaurant , along with few of my friends today. In simple words, our experience wasn't good..!! According to what we have seen, this restaurant most likely will serve left over food to other customers, which prompted me to write this review..!! We ordered Tandoori chicken along with couple of varieties of chicken curry.. Quality of food was ok (not great, but not bad either..).. Service was poor though. Coming to the key message..As most of you are aware, Indian restaurants serves basmati rice or a Naan/roti along with the main dishes you order, here also they did. Since we couldn't finish rice, we requested them to pack it , to avoid food wastage. But they refused saying, they have a policy not to pack the rice as they consider it complimentary..!! This is not true, most of the other Indian restaurants we visited last 4 years in Erlangen, packs the food if we couldnt finish it & request them to do so.. Anyway we asked the waiter, what they are going to do with the left over food, he didnt have a proper response.. He said, he is just following the order from his boss, not to pack the so called "complimentary rice & naan" ..It's an easy guess..most likely this left over rice will get served to the next customer OR it get carried over to the next day's mix of basmati rice..So guys, be aware of this fact - what you get served here most likely is/will not be fresh food..!!

It's nice to be the first reviewer !! The ambiance is great with outdoor seating ideal for summer. The Papad on the house tasted great with the mango sauce. I tasted Channa masala and mango lassi. The Channa was good, but it was too masala-infused. It can be made better my adding lesser spices and making it more buttery. The mango lassi was excellent. I think this place is owned by the same person who owns Curry house. So I hope they don't replicate the curry house model, but maintain their standard of cooking fresh food and make this place a success. All the best :)

Ganz gut! das beste ist dass immer nach indische Gewürze recht.

Very good indian place. We ate the Naan bread with Yellow Dal and also the black dal and for curry we got the mix veg with was served with a slice of pineapple. The quantity of rice that came with it was fairly large for two people but the portion sizes of the dals and curry were more appropriate for one person than for sharing. Service was good, it was pretty much the owner who was an all-in-one but he managed it well. Good place in Erlangen overall.

Klein, aber fein. Sehr leckere Speisen und sehr stimmungsvolle Einrichtung. Auch wenn meine Frau meint das die alte Lokalität die das House of India früher beherbergte schöner war. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, stehts aufmerksam aber in keinster weise aufdringlich.

Visited on 21st February 2018. Arrived and received a friendly greeting by the waitor. He was very cheerful. Nice table set up and not squeezed in with other tables like some places. Ordered the Onion Bhajis and the Chicken Speciality of theres. Food served on time with no delays, food was great specially the onion Bhajis. The curry was not spicy enough for me, but I didn't ask for extra spice so that's my fault. Also got the gulab jaman as desert and that was great room. Well recommended. I asked about halal meat, and they advised the chicken is halal.

Agreed that capsicum need not be added to Karahi, from then on all was well....decent Lamb and Vegetable Curry.

Sehr gutes und authentisches indisches Essen. Das Lokal selbst ist mit einigen Dekoelementen im Stil versehen, sonst kein überragender Charme. Aber das Essen ist es in jedem Fall wert.

Essen war lecker das Personal aber leider nicht so freundlich.

Gutes Essen, gutes Preis-Leistungs- Verhältnis. Sehr netter Gastgeber, gemütliche und passende Dekoration. Ich hatte ein Auswahl verschiedener Gerichte. Alle waren sehr lecker. Scharf war scharf und mild war mild. Außerdem habe ich hier zum ersten Mal ein Gericht mit Kichererbsen gegessen, das nach etwas schmeckte. Essen kam zudem zügig und heiß.

Nettes Ambiente und gutes Essen

Wunderschönes Ambiente, aber leider hatte das Essen nichts mit indischer Küche zu tun. Der Service war super; also ich würde die Lokalität empfehlen, um ein Glas Wein trinken zu gehen, weil es einfach schön dort ist, aber wie gesagt, das Essen war eher ein Satz mit x.

Spicy but excellent food in Germany!

Ignore the German review that is 3 years old. I ate there a couple of days ago (January 17, 2013). I ordered a lamb curry (one of the specialties of the house), samosas and a roti. Everything tasted excellent. I was promptly served and enjoyed very much the decor of the restaurant. I know my curries and frequently make Indian food at home (I am a Brit!), the food here was very good. Compared to Denmark the prices are very reasonable too. I can highly recommend House of India and will probably eat there again next time I visit Erlangen.
