We ate there! The food was good, but the service was overwhelming! We had reserved a table for 6 p.m., but we left the restaurant at 7:45 p.m. because the food took so long! The elderly gentleman❤️, the soul of the restaurant 👍👍👍, was a gem! We will definitely eat there again! Best wishes from Jerstedt!

We were passing through. The food was excellent, a great menu with a wide selection. The service was really friendly. We were even allowed to bring our very large dog into the restaurant. Thank you so much for your friendly and helpful hospitality.

We don't really understand the negative reviews. We've been guests at this restaurant for many years and have always been satisfied. The new owners have been continuing the tradition that Branko established many years ago. The chef (owner) and his team spoil guests with signature dishes and fine drinks. Anton is a warm, welcoming man who always strives to please everyone. The restaurant is also highly recommended for large celebrations. In good summer weather, it's almost impossible to get a seat on the large terrace without booking, which speaks for itself. Keep up the good work; it's one of the best addresses in the district. We'll remain regulars.

We ate there. The manager (or rather, the older gentleman who thinks he is) was very unfriendly. He served his regulars and ignored us. When we asked if we could order, he replied, "We're not at the train station, my friend!" and "I'm so busy." I had no idea we were friends... The restaurant wasn't even half full. Since we'd been given a voucher, we stayed. The evening was ruined. A wonderful gift. I've never experienced such impudence in a restaurant. The food was then merely obligatory and far too dry for me. Never again...

Not necessarily. The boss is loud and hectic and treats his employees like children, even though they're doing a great job. The boss's treatment of guests, including some of them, creates the impression that they're not really welcome. The food tastes good, though. Unfortunately, the boss also brings it to the table with a very careless approach.

This was our first time at the "Golden Lion," and we were thrilled with both the ambiance and the food. If you like Croatian/Yugoslavian food, this is the place to be. An extensive menu with delicious dishes makes choosing difficult, but the food is a delight. And the prices are reasonable. 😊 This won't be our last visit to the "Golden Lion" restaurant. 😉

Home-style meat dishes, a handshake welcome, and a quiet beer garden behind the house. I always enjoy coming here – keep up the good work!

I can only review the restaurant; I haven't been a guest at the hotel yet. However, we have been guests at the Golden Lion several times, whether in a smaller group for dinner in the restaurant, in the garden, or even in the hall for a family celebration. So far, we have always been served very well and have always eaten very well. Therefore, I absolutely cannot understand some of the more recent reviews here. The food was, as expected, delicious and of good quality on our last visit at the end of June 2025, and the portions are still very generous, and this hasn't changed even with the change in restaurant management. The same applies to the service, who remained calm despite the stress of several large groups at once. It was a lovely evening, and this certainly won't be our last visit...

My son and I ate there again today. We were very disappointed, as we've known the restaurant personally and very well for over 30 years, and the satisfaction with the food and the personal interaction with the owners was always a highlight for us. Today we discovered that the portions have become extremely small and the quality has deteriorated accordingly. We regret this very much.

A very pleasant experience! Great Balkan food (try the dry Mostar white!) and great service. Very child friendly to sit outside in the biergarten.

We were there for the first time after the takeover. Everything perfect. The food tasted better than ever before. The only drawback was the bitter lemon in the cola but that's just a minor thing. The steak was cooked to perfection, the salad was super fresh and the fries tasted like fries. We had the Balkan platter and therefore several types of meat, everything was great. And more than enough 🥰🤩

Once and never again. There were three of us, the portions were very large but unfortunately not tasty. The small salad beforehand was absolutely loveless. My schnitzel was buried under the champion sauce. Please don't misunderstand me, I like delicious sauce. Unfortunately the sauce had a paste-like consistency. My friends' food wasn't any better either. We skipped dessert. The waiter who served us ha shouldn't work in service.

Very nice host and delicious dishes

Unfortunately, we were only in this hotel for one day and everything was perfect for us from start to finish. We also ate in the restaurant in the evening. The food tasted very tasty, we ordered a grill plate. For breakfast there was corn flakes, yoghurt, fried eggs, freshly baked rolls, 2 types, 4 types of sausage, butter, jam, Nutella, coffee, tea, what more could you want. The room was clean, the mattress was very comfortable, we were able to relax for a while. We cannot confirm how some people have had negative experiences here. Thanks for everything, we would definitely come again 👍

We were in the restaurant for a birthday, the food was set up as a buffet, there was no signage, so you didn't know what you were eating. The food wasn't that special either. Service was bad, hardly anyone came and asked if you wanted something to drink. At the end you had the feeling that they wanted to get rid of us, the boss was unfriendly and upset that he had to run back and forth so much. We were guests of the birthday child and recommended that he not celebrate there anymore. We will definitely not come to this restaurant again. Rarely have I been served so badly.

Very nice hotel with large, clean, quiet rooms and absolutely incredible hosts. The couple who run the place were so welcoming and friendly in every way. Set a lovely breakfast table just for us at the time we wanted. Located in the middle of the historic centre. Good price.

I can only rate the restaurant. The old business owner wasn't the friendliest and it will probably be passed on, it was definitely confirmed today! The food was tasty, the tzatziki was great, everything was ok until then. But then the calculation came and it wasn't right. The older innkeeper who served us insisted on his opinion. There is no schnapps on the house here, like in some other restaurants. Otherwise it would have been at least 4 stars, but this unfriendliness from the older man is absolutely unacceptable!

It tasted great. A Yugoslavian like in old times with Sliwowitch from small drink flasks. I haven't experienced that in a long time. I thought that was really good.

Das Essen war Ok, die Bedienung nur ausreichend, da viel zu wenig Personal und dazu nicht grad freundlich. Es gab weder eine Schnaps nach dem Essen (war dort früher so üblich), noch ein Tschüss beim verlassen. Es gibt in Northeim freundlichere Lokal, denen wir jetzt halt wie gewohnt den Vorzug geben.

Das Hotel kann ich nicht bewerten. Da wir nur das Restaurant besucht haben. Das Essen war sehr gut und eine ordentliche Portion. Preis Leistung ist super. Das Personal sehr freundlich. Parkplatz vor der Tür. Alles in einem volle 🌟 Sterne

Sehr sehr netter Kellner sehr better Empfang, absolut perfekt. Wir hatten einen Hund dabei, da das Restaurant sehr voll war durften wir uns in den Nebenraum setzen. Der Hund hat sofort Wasser bekommen. Das Essen Spitzenklasse uper lecker und riesen grosse Portionen. Das Preisleistungsverĥältnis absolut okay. Leiden waren wir nur auf der Durchreise sonst würden wir bestimmt täglich kommen. Aber auch so fahren wir mehrmals im Jahr auf deA7 vorbei. Wir kommen wieder keine Frage. Vielen Dank auch an den etwas älteren Kellner oder Chef er hatte alles im Griff da können viele von ihm lernen. Vielen Dank und hoffentlich bis bald.

Sehr gut besuchtes Restaurant. Nach dem ersten bissen der grillplatte wussten wir warum. Das Fleisch war saftig, qualitativ und auf den Punkt gegrillt. Wir waren hier auf der Durchreise aber werden bei der nächsten Gelegenheit wieder hier essen. Das Personal war auch sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Absolut empfehlenswert!
