Hotel Restaurant "Zur Post" Dhünn in Wermelskirchen

After our hike, we spontaneously went looking for a place to eat because we were quite hungry. This rustic yet authentic restaurant was recommended to us near the Dhünntalsperre (Dhünn Dam). Shortly after opening, we entered the restaurant and were immediately warmly welcomed. We opted for a Jägerschnitzel (hunter's schnitzel) and a Pfefferschnitzel (pepper schnitzel), each with fries and a small side salad. When the food arrived, we were truly surprised by the size of the portions – the schnitzel almost filled the entire plate! You could even hear the owner preparing it fresh in the kitchen. I'm not giving it five stars because I've had better food, but I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars because you get what you expect (and even a little more). Overall, a harmonious experience with honest food and friendly service. You'll leave the restaurant feeling full!

The room was OK, but it's just an old building...the bathroom could use some sprucing up. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.

The owner is super friendly, but I'd rather not comment on anything else regarding cleanliness and the facilities...

I especially recommend room number 18, the apartment I have never seen anything like this before, such a luxurious apartment. Best regards to the owner.

Amir's serves delicious and huge schnitzels. 😋 If that doesn't fill you up, there's no help for you. 🤷‍♂️

Very friendly cheap price delicious food

The host was nice, friendly, and helpful. But: the room was too cold, it was freezing outside, and the heating couldn't be regulated. There were many dark spots on the ceiling and in the bathroom. We wondered if it was all mold. The breakfast was very meager. The whole house smelled of cigarette smoke, probably coming from the restaurant downstairs. Old things were scattered around the house in a messy manner. The TV didn't work, and there was no Wi-Fi.

Rustic, old German atmosphere. Very nice host, very tasty buffet. We as a group will hold a celebration there again.

260 euros for 4 days. Don't even give this "hotel" half a star. Room dirty. Not even breakfast! What it looks like from the outside is the same from the inside. I recommend taking the Hotel zum Schwanen, 15 km away in Wermelskirchen. Great room, great breakfast, great staff. And for the same price. And opposite a real Italian expresso for 1 euro. Forget the hotel to the post office!

Cozy village pub like you hardly know anywhere else. Everyone knows everyone. The schnitzels are highly recommended 😋

Super freundlich ,spitzen Essen

War heute abend zum ersten Mal hier. Auch etwas abgeschreckt durch manche negativen Kommentare im letzten Jahr. Jetzt wollte ich mir selber ein Bild machen. Ich bin 75 Jahre und habe im Leben noch nie ein größeres Schnitzel gegessen. Die Hälfte mit nach Hause genommen. Schnitzel, Sauce, Fritten und Salat einfach toll und nicht zu überbieten. Wer hier meckert, kann sich oder seine Umwelt nicht leiden und kennt vermutlich auch den Unterschied zwischen Kotelett und Frikadellen nicht. Allererste Sahne. Punkt !

Die Pizzas waren super lecker, mit original italienischer Pastasoße ein Traum, traut man den Dhünnern gar nicht zu.

Wer Fan von Riesenschnitzel ist, ist hier richtig.

Jägerschnitzel, Margarita teigröllchen mit Salat. Es war alles ausgezeichnet. Sehr freundlich und sehr schnell.

Angenehmes freundliches Personal. Der Besitzer absolut hilfsbereit, fährt auch zum Gefallen schon mal seine Gäste nach Hause, wenn man kein Taxi mehr bekommt!
