Hotel-Restaurant Schwanen in Köngen

No. No I didn't. Just no. The hotel and restaurant is reasonable but the parking situation is catastrophic! My company made and agreement with the hotel to reseve a parking space because we are travelling with a big and long Sprinter sized van. As it turns out, we have to ask the staff each evening if they can run around and move their cars to make space for us and we get huge amounts of bad attitude in doing so. Not a nice experience and only come here if you drive a Polo....

Very good food, friendly staff, very good and comfortable bed, and the breakfast was also great.

We were absolutely delighted with the food and service yesterday. The North Sea plaice, roast beef, venison medallions, and schnitzel, including the side dishes, were all outstanding. The appetizer and dessert were also very good. Excellent wine selection, lovely atmosphere, and friendly, attentive staff. We'll definitely be back!

A lovely restaurant with a more upscale clientele and correspondingly higher prices. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious. The pumpkin soup was a particular highlight – creamy and perfectly seasoned. Ideal for a special evening or when you want to treat yourself. 🎃🍽️

Business customer - breakfast is charged even if you haven't eaten breakfast - receptionist is far from customer-oriented - even after pointing it out 3 times.

A family celebration with around 50 people is no problem for the Hotel Schwanen team. From the initial consultation and beverage selection to setting the tables and saying goodbye, everything on that day was absolutely perfect, exceeding our expectations. The ambiance at Hotel Schwanen is modern, unique, and meticulously detailed. The quality of the food is top-notch. Special requests are noted and professionally handled. Definitely recommended, whether for a delicious dinner, a business lunch, or a family celebration—the Schwanen is the perfect choice for everything.

Review of the restaurant "Bistro-Stube K.B." The restaurant was closed on Monday evening, which is understandable in principle. However, it should be noted that hotel guests were still offered a small selection from the bistro menu – a pleasing approach to service. I opted for cheese spaetzle and a small side salad. The quality of the ingredients and the preparation of the main course were solid. However, cheese spaetzle is a simple, regionally typical dish, and one generally doesn't expect any major surprises – especially in southern Germany. The portion size, however, is a criticism. For the price, I would have expected a somewhat more generous portion. The pan served was very manageable, so I didn't really feel full after the meal. The side salad was particularly disappointing: The portion was extremely small and disproportionate to the price of €7.90. Comparable salads on my business trips to Germany were considerably more substantial. Unfortunately, the staff showed little understanding or accommodatingness in this regard. Overall, the impression is that the pricing is not in line with the range of services offered – which is unfortunate, especially when guests have to go to bed hungry.

We had a pleasant stay. The hotel is close to the highway, easy to access, and has parking. The rooms are clean and functional. The breakfast buffet is generous. Very good value for money. However, we found the welcome upon arrival to be very rushed. We ate well in the restaurant. One small drawback was the service, which was a bit slow. The staff is friendly. There was a high chair, a special children's menu, and even drawing materials. We will return to this establishment if the opportunity arises.

Dinner in the hotel restaurant was a delight: a sophisticated atmosphere with beautiful lighting, comfortable table spacing, and attentive service. The food selection, including a game menu, was excellent. The three-course menu, with slightly smaller but filling portions, offered a good opportunity to sample a variety of dishes, each with a different price tag, for a single price. Consistently high quality, beautifully presented, and very tasty. A well-stocked wine list. Prices were reasonable—all in all, a highly recommended experience.

The Schwanen Restaurant is always worth recommending. The service is excellent, and the food is always delicious. We've been there many times now and have never been disappointed. It's especially nice when the owner visits each table and personally asks questions. Service is still a top priority here.

We celebrated our daughter's first day of school at the Schwanen in Köngen – and it was simply perfect! 🎉 The food was, as always, of the highest quality: fresh, lovingly prepared, and an absolute highlight in terms of taste. The service is also outstanding – attentive, friendly, and warm, making you feel completely at home. For us, the Schwanen is without a doubt the best restaurant in the entire area. Small, cozy, and clean accommodation. The hotel is quiet and tidy, ideal for a short stay. You can also enjoy a drink or a bite to eat in the bistro. Just a few meters away, there's a pharmacy, a fast-food restaurant, and a restaurant serving good German cuisine at fair prices.

The location is very central in Köngen. The highway is also not far away, so you can get to Stuttgart quickly. I only saw the staff briefly once during check-in, which was quick and professional. The staff member was friendly. There was nothing to complain about regarding the cleanliness of the accommodation. The price was good. We were asked upon arrival if we could forgo room cleaning during our stay, as the hotel was suffering from a staff shortage. There's nothing wrong with that, but there was no discount or extra for it. We found the French double bed inadequate. Far too short and narrow for two people. If one person turned over, the entire mattress would wobble, waking the other. The room was very small.

As I've written many times before, I've been highly satisfied for many years. And today it was absolutely top-notch again. The best sausage salad for miles around. October 8, 2024: Excellent game dishes and a delicious tartar starter. July 25, 2025: Great dinner with chanterelle salad, monkfish, and fresh strawberries. Applause 👍

We were only there for one night. It was a warm night in a small attic room (no air conditioning), and the window couldn't be opened because the wedding party, which continued until about 1:00 a.m., would have been even louder. Unfortunately, we had specifically booked the hotel so we wouldn't arrive home late and then go to bed earlier. That didn't work out, as you can imagine. The bed was also very small. However, the room was well-equipped, and the brief interaction with the service staff was pleasant. Unfortunately, the reception was closed on Sunday (we didn't know this beforehand), so we weren't sure how to check out... Parking was right next to the hotel 👍 Conclusion: The hotel unfortunately didn't fulfill the purpose of a quiet stopover for us.

The restaurant offers a small but fine selection of lovingly prepared dishes in a modern, elegant setting. The staff is friendly, always with a smile on their faces. We have been there several times and have been very satisfied each time. The attention to detail, not only in the furnishings and table decorations, but also in the exceptional dishes, enchants us every time.

We found the price/performance ratio very uneven for a very small room with very narrow beds in the attic – without air conditioning. However, the service was very friendly and the breakfast was very varied. The location was ideal.

First of all, the positive. Very centrally located in Köngen, can be reached in five minutes from the motorway. Check-in was quick, friendly and uncomplicated. The first impression is very positive. Everything neat and well maintained. The first impression in the room was also very positive. You don't skimp on small touches. Despite being almost full, we still managed to get a seat in the bistro. The service here was quick and friendly. The food served was a dream! Here's a big compliment to the chef👍🏼 The breakfast buffet in the morning was plentiful and offered a good selection. To the negative. The hotel offers the opportunity for larger celebrations. Nothing negative in and of itself. I didn't notice this when I booked. So I arrived in the evening after a long day at work and an equally long journey. A party was holding their wedding reception in the hotel. Not much negative so far. Until the disco started at ten. Volume and bass at maximum! On the second floor with the door and window closed, every word, even the DJ's, was understood. This haunting lasted until just after two in the morning!! A no go - I had an all-day appointment the following day where I wanted to appear rested. Nothing came of it, because at this volume it was impossible to sleep, even with ear plugs. It's almost worse - no warning when booking, upon arrival and no reaction the next day. This gives rise to the suspicion that such parties are the order of the day in the hotel. Only briefly about the negative things in the room. There was a thick layer of dust on the top of the cupboard, the shower nozzles in the bathroom were partially blocked, and the washbasin fittings were difficult to move. These are things that unfortunately often get lost in the everyday life of a hotel.

Wir gehen gerne in den Schwanen nach Köngen. Das Dreigang-Menü ist immer zu empfehlen, da die einzelnen Komponenten frei wählbar sind. Auch das Bistro ist unter der Woche sehr empfehlenswert.

The food and service are truly excellent! The dishes are very delicately prepared and wonderfully seasoned. The business lunch or the self-assembled menu is also highly recommended. A definite recommendation for value for money! I recently had the tuna and the three coffee desserts, and I'm still absolutely thrilled with them!

The business lunch was absolutely excellent!

Let me start by mentioning that the Hotel has an elegant and modern air. The staff is extremely polite and professional. The price of the hotel rooms is affordable, and the rooms are clean and well maintained. The beds are comfortable and large (in the comfort rooms). Internet access has a very good signal. A small impediment to your personal comfort is the water pressure from the shower, but we can easily overlook it as it is a relatively small detail. The restaurant has very good food, the seats on the terrace being almost completely occupied regardless of the time, a fact that confirms and guides me to recommend dining here. There is also open parking where there is no height limit, I mention that it is accessible for trucks.

A very modern hotel and restaurant both inside and out. The parking lot directly at the hotel was a bit tense on Saturday evening, but walking a few meters didn't do us any harm. Our coats were taken away from us immediately at the beginning, very attentive! The service was excellent, every wish was implemented immediately. The furnishings are modern, comfortable and very trendy. The food was very tasty, fresh and cooked with a lot of love. The salad couldn't quite keep up with the rest of the meal. That certain “something” was still missing here. But we could easily get over that because the main course completely convinced us. Another small point of criticism: Unfortunately, it was immediately taken away before everyone had finished eating. But this is complaining at a high level. Price performance at a high level, but definitely fits. I can't say anything about the hotel and the rooms because we only ate. But I appreciate that the high standard of the restaurant can be transferred to the rooms. That's why 5 stars here even though we didn't stay overnight. We would definitely like to come back!!

Very clean hotel with nice staff.

The staff is super kind and welcoming, both to us and to our dog. We were booking the room in about 2 hours before arrival (right on the way on autobahn), and all confirmations and negotiations went well. Although, their parking was full, the staff kindly proposed me to place my car on their own parking spot, it was kind. Our room was on the attic, so we had not many neighbors around and the night was quiet and peaceful. It was a bit cold in the room, so we used the heater they provided in the room. We thought we will leave early morning to have breakfast somewhere else, but in the morning decided to try their breakfast. Fortunately, it was easy to negotiate at the reception, so we saved some time having quite a good breakfast at their restaurant. Cons: 1. A bit expensive (but it was a last minute reservation). 2. No parks around to walk the dog.

The restaurant is first class! There is hardly anything comparable in the Stuttgart area. The service is friendly and highly professional. The kitchen gets 5 stars from us!

We made a quick stop here on our return trip home from Italy. What a cozy restaurant. Delicious food and good service. The rooms for overnight stays are also great. And you certainly don't have to leave it for the price. Hotel-Restaurant Schwanen is highly recommended.

We stayed here on our way to Italy (family of5) when our car broke down on Saturday evening. The hotel was fantastic! Our room was spacious and clean, and the staff were very helpful. It was easy to get to Stuttgart by bus and train, and we loved visiting the Mercedes Benz museum. Breakfast was great with lots of tasty options like fresh pastries and local cheeses. The dining area was bright, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. The hotel was in a quiet area, perfect for relaxing after our busy days. We even enjoyed a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant, trying some local dishes. Overall, despite the car trouble, we had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to come back next year!

We stayed here 1 night from Sun 4/8 to Mon 5/8. In itself a great hotel. We knew that they were closed on Sundays. Check-in was also well organized. There is not much else to do in the village (at least on Sundays). That's okay, it was an overnight stop for us. We slept in the new outbuilding. In room 503. It could have been a great experience if the room hadn't been so sweltering and stayed all night. Despite the door being wide open and 18 degrees outside at night. And the room wasn't even on the sunny side. Breakfast was fine and well prepared. Car was on the (slow) charger all night, for a fee.

Overall good esperience even if it was just 1 night, good dinner and breakfast too.

We were here on a business trip! I have never experienced such a clean hotel. The staff are very, very friendly & always up for fun! You ALWAYS have a smile on your face! Also, the food was really delicious. Rarely eaten so well! 5 stars are not enough for rooms, food and especially staff! Highly recommended!

Was in Köngen at the Hotel Schwanen for a training course. The location is very central, the ambience is upscale, the staff is extremely friendly, competent and attentive. The room was spacious and had everything you need for 1-2 nights. The bathroom is relatively small, especially the shower is a bit tight for larger people, but very modern and very well maintained and clean and equipped with everything you need. And the bed is very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is rich and tasty and the evening meal was excellent. Everything freshly prepared and great quality and presentation. I would definitely come back again. 5 out of 5 stars 🌟

Everything was great, but a walk-in shower would have been even better

We celebrated our wedding there on June 1st. I could give it 10 stars. The owner and his team did everything to make our absolute dream wedding come true. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly and helpful. The room was also great, we were allowed to make the flower arrangements and some table decorations ourselves, otherwise everything was prepared. As a wedding party, we also spent most of the night there. Everyone was very happy with the rooms and the breakfast. The rooms were very clean and there was a surprise waiting for us in our room (as a bride and groom). It came with champagne and everything. Our music and we were very loud and that didn't even become a problem in any way. When we arrived, the boss greeted us as a bride and groom with a glass of champagne and toasted us. The glasses were engraved with our names and were a small gift. We were very pleased. Thank you so much that we were able to experience our wedding with you like this. I can only 100% recommend it to everyone.

Hotel-Restaurant Schwanen in Köngen Four of us ate at the Schwanen restaurant and we all ordered very different dishes. The different meals were all excellent. Both visually very appealing and of high quality thanks to the fresh, regional ingredients and we enjoyed it very much. The self-made 2 or 3 course menus are recommended. The rooms are lovingly prepared and the various large rooms and halls make the Schwanen ideal for events of all kinds. The family-run hotel and restaurant has its own parking spaces in sufficient numbers. We have known the restaurant for decades and it is always worth recommending.

Stayed here during travel. Parking is next to the hotel with alternative parking a bit further away.. Electrical vehicle charging is available(hotel parking) but is excitement slow Service is good, friendly staff. Room is relatively small but clean. We also had dinner which was good we sat outside and had the Curry and creme brulee. Recommended choice. The village is extremely small, not really a lot going on but for a one night stay this is good.

Hotel Schwanen briefly summarized: Very clean, very accommodating, very nice. The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired. Drinks are served at your seat if desired. If you forgo the service, you get a free drink in the bistro. I can also imagine the hotel being suitable for a private stay.

The three of us ate at Schwanen. The menu looked varied and promised imaginative dishes. We really weren't disappointed! The quality of our 3-course menu was top both visually and in terms of taste. Price-performance ratio is right, as is the atmosphere of the rooms. The boss personally inquired about the well-being of the guests. That doesn't happen often anymore these days. We'll be back :o)

Everything was perfect: the food looked and tasted like a work of art, the service was very attentive and friendly, and Helge Thun was an unbeatable virtuoso in words and magic. Upscale, finely balanced dishes for a very fair price. The Bib Gourmand award is more than deserved. The restaurant has a very positive atmosphere and we always felt very comfortable.

The best meal I've ever had, not exactly at a bargain price but excellently prepared. The staff is very attentive and accommodating. We always enjoy coming here, but a reservation is recommended as everything tends to be full, especially on weekends. We are already looking forward to our next visit

Wir haben eine größere Familien-Geburtstagsfeier im Restaurant veranstaltet. Vom Aperitif über Mittagessen bis zum Kaffee trinken war alles top. Die Qualität der Speisen war hervorragend, der Service sehr professionell, persönlich und herzlich, das Ambiente des Raumes und des ganzen Hauses sehr geschmackvoll.

Nous avions prévu d'arriver à l'hôtel vers 19h... mais à cause des bouchons sur l'autoroute, nous n'y étions que vers 21h. L'accueil était néanmoins chaleureux et au vu de notre allemand hésitant, la personne de la réception a fait appel à un collègue au français impeccable. Les valises à peine posées dans une chambre agréable et spacieuse, nous nous sommes précipités au restaurant, dont nous craignions que l'accès ne nous soit refusé vu l'heure tardive. C'était le début de la saison des asperges et nous en avons donc profité! Très bon repas, service diligent et agréable, une étape à retenir!

En riktigt bra restaurang i hotellet, bra utbud av mycket vällagad mat, bra service och mycket fräsch miljö, rekommenderas varmt.

Nach langer Abstinenz hatten wir mal wieder den Schwanen besucht und der Eindruck war top. Die Karte hat wirklich für jeden was dabei. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam. Die Küche brät auf den Punkt und schmeckt genauso ab. Die Tische sind schön eingedeckt und das Salat Buffet mit dem Kartoffelsalat sind sowieso klasse :) Alles spitze, aber ohne übertriebenes chichi. Für mich das beste Restaurant in Köngen. Preislich etwa je Gericht 3€ über den Restaurants in der Nähe, aber das ist auch gerechtfertigt. Bei den meisten Gerichten ist der Salat mit dabei und es gibt verschiedene Baguette mit Olivenöl und Salz vorab. Wir werden den Schwanen sicher wieder öfter aufsuchen.

We were travelling from France to Munich on the Autobahn A8 and the lunch time was approaching. There was one establishment just after the exit but it did not serve lunch. We had a recommendation, however: "The Schwanen hotel/restaurant nearby is good!" The Schwanen Hotel looks quite new and there was free parking on the premises. The restaurant room was nice and spacious, several groups were ending their meals but we were assured lunch was still on and were shown to the table, menus following immediately. We were moderately hungry so the choice was soup of the day and small lamb carre's for both. The soup was excellent and the lamb fine as well, fried rose and juicy, just right! The beans as a side to the meat felt as if they came from a tin, however. The service was friendly as well, maybe even over-attentive. Altogether we had a fine meal and can recommend the Schwanen heartily. If you are passing the Kongen town on the Autobahn, take the exit and find the restaurant, it is worth a small detour.
