The service is very friendly, but the food ranges from bad to ok depending on the dish

After a walk we stopped on the terrace for a drink. The card was thrown on the table, without a friendly welcome or eye contact. It took about fifteen minutes before we could order drinks (from a different server) and then it took another fifteen minutes before we had drinks. In addition, there was a box with loud rap music on, which did not fit the atmosphere. Finally, we could not pay for our voucher with the pin, because the amount was too small (€12.50).

Ok, so I messed up my reservation. I meant to book a stay for two night fri-sat. I ended up booking thur-fri. When I didn't show up on time, the owner called me and helped me out by blocking off an extra room for Saturday, didn't charge me the cancelation fee for the original booking, and was nothing but wonderful and pleasant the entire time. It a beautiful little spot right next to the waterfall, with picturesque views. The restaurant is also amazing with lovingly prepared local dishes. The staff is incredibly attentive and I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling the black forest as it is right in the middle and you can get out to anything you want to see or do in a short time. 10/10

Two of us had dinner one evening in August, outside. Service a little slow and not very accurate. Prices perhaps a little higher than average but the only comparison we can make is with another restaurant which however is more than 5 km away. We took the schnitzel which was perhaps the least expensive dish. Even though we were outdoors, some customers who were smoking allowed the smoke to reach us; obviously it's not the restaurateur's fault but perhaps banning smoking outside wouldn't be a bad idea. The location is on the main street of Triberg. We had dinner and left immediately for the reason stated above

Après avoir visité les cascades et admiré les coucous (horloges) avons décidé de déjeuner dans ce restaurant bien placé, joli et avec une belle carte. Avons opté pour la belle salle intérieure, moins chaude et moins bruyante que la terrasse. Les assiettes de chasse étaient belles, bonnes et copieuses surtout en pleine période "chanterelles". Très bonne découverte donc

The most expensive piece of Black Forest for €7.20 without kirsch but by no means the best I've ever eaten... It's a shame... I think it's very exaggerated, mass instead of great 🤷🏽‍♀️

The food was an absolute disaster. Spaetzle and deer ragout are barely worth 10 euros. And that for almost 32 euros. The other three food was also borderline. If you want to use this food to get customers to come back, you would have to close the shop after a month.

We sat at the terrace to have lunch and the smell there from the WC downstairs was disgusting. Very unfriendly staff, the waiter threw us the menu without even saying „hello“. We stood up and ran away as quick as possible! PS: the prices there are as expensive as those of a good restaurant in Zurich, I have to laugh, it‘s a tourist trap!

Dear owner, please invest in customer service. We entered for a coffee and slightly repositioned one table in the terrace to be out of sunlight. The waiter looked upset at us as if we killed someone. We left without ordering for a more friendly place, with the waiter promptly repositioning the table (under the sun). Goodbye.

We just wanted to eat something there (on the website, as well as at the entrance to the restaurant, there was a note saying "warm food throughout"). We were immediately greeted by a service person with the following words: "That's enough, we have a break".

My friends and I stopped at the Pfaff cafe. We each ordered a different dish and we were not disappointed. The food was outstanding and plentiful. Classic German fare...yummy black forest cake and the apple strudel

I can't rate this as a hotel. But the restaurant does. This time I'll start with the service; there's still some room for improvement in terms of friendliness and attentiveness. The food is OK. The ambience is a bit old-fashioned, but perhaps that's intentional. The restaurant is influenced by tourism. This can also be seen in the funny notice of the menu outside in the masonry. We went there for lunch because the other restaurant in front was full. We went in without looking at the menu because it was a bit late and we didn't want to miss lunch. The prices are very expensive and the quality is very poor for the price they charge. The amount is also a bit fair for this price. The service was ok.

Je kan het Zwarte Woud niet bezocht hebben zonder het Schwarzwalder gebak genomen te hebben. We komen hier terecht om het te testen. Het terras ligt leuk aan de weg en aan de entree van de waterval. De dienstdoende ober heeft nog niet zijn dag. Hoewel hij tegen ons wel vriendelijk is moeten met name de Amerikaanse toeristen het ontgelden. In Amerika is het gebruikelijk dat je naar een tafel wordt gebracht (being seated). Het groepje Amerikaanse toeristen verwacht dat hier ook maar in Europa is dit vaak niet het geval en ga je gewoon ergens zitten. Ze vragen tot 3 keer aan de ober of ze echt zomaar ergens kunnen zitten. Dan is hij het blijkbaar zat en zegt hij "Egal wo Scheiße!". Dat kan natuurlijk echt niet! Shame on him. Maar goed dan het gebak. De cheesecake is prima maar het ging mij om het Schwarzwalder kersengebak en die is....voldoende. Geen hoogvlieger maar goed eetbaar. Wel wat aan de droge kant. Geen topper, het kan echt beter en voor 7,20 per stuk mag het ook wel beter. Verder valt op dat de prijzen erg fors zijn. Triberg is nogal toeristisch door de plaatselijke waterval en de koekoeksklokken maar het zijn nou ook weer niet bepaald de Niagara Falls die hier liggen. Met 5,30 voor een kop thee en 4,30 voor een kop koffie doet dat anders vermoeden in ieder geval. Positief puntje de heer die binnen de bestellingen verzorgd, hij is zeer vriendelijk en dat maakt het dan nog een beetje goed. Werk aan de winkel voor deze zaak!

You can tell that they don't have to try because the tourists come anyway, my husband had spaetzle that was very bad, they just poured cream sauce over it. So really nothing special. The tea was quite good (there was loose tea), service was friendly

I loved the whole vibe of the stay, I travelled from India and stayed here for 2 weeks.the owner sir Oliver was just the most humble person to meet . The room service was at its best and clean. The food served is very clean, hygienic and delicious. I did share my Indian food with them and was a epic experience together. Anyone looking for a perfect stay ,this is the place in Triberg.do bring in your Indian food ,they love it lol 😂

So for the capital of the Black Forest cake, we were disappointed. We found the sponge cake dry and we missed the kirsch. Presumably adapted to the general public's taste? Very unfortunate. The view was great, there was a good place to sit on the terrace and the staff tried hard to accommodate the influx of visitors. About the prices. Yes, Triberg is a tourist attraction and you pay €23 for 2 Black Forest kirsch and 2 coffees People have to live on something.

Overall nice restaurant. The dishes are generous and well presented. 35€ per person.

I was only there to eat, which tasted very good. Service top. Finding a parking space is a problem, as is the case everywhere else

Waited over 30 minutes for a menu which didn’t arrive. The waitress came across as plain rude and continued to serve other people who came in after us, leaving g us at a table covered in dirty dishes and cutlery. Ended up leaving as just sick of the wait. What a disappointment to an otherwise lovely area. Go elsewhere!

We waited for 10 mins to be seated without being acknowledged. We then sat at a table covered with dirty crockery for 20 mins without being acknowledged. We moved to the next table which was clear and asked for a menu, in German. The server said yes and then walked past us another five times without bringing us a menu. After seeing her serve people who had come in long after us, we left. 10 mins waiting and 26 mins sitting and didn't even get to see a menu, even though by the time we left there were plenty of free tables. Other people around us were complaining that their orders had been forgotten and the server seemed to be making excuses to other tables. Not recommended!

The welcome was good and friendly. The rooms are not great, but fine for a night. However, the price is on the high side, especially for the period we were there. Much is closed in the village in the spring. We also ended up having dinner in the hotel restaurant, because nothing else was open (on a Monday). That was fine, no more and no less. Unfortunately no breakfast, the cook was not present in the morning.

Phenomenal food, pleasant service, very convenient to shopping, parking, and parks

We had lunch here today and were extremely satisfied. The waiter was very friendly and prompt. The food was very tasty. We both had asparagus with homemade hollandaise. Worth every penny. We only found the drinks a bit overpriced. Still, thumbs up and definitely recommended.

Unfortunately we had the most awful experience: hotel didn’t open the door to let us in. So we stayed out in the rain and drove another 5 hours. We warned the hotel about late arrival and they confirmed. However, nobody was there and nobody picked up the phone.

Caution! Tourist trap! We stopped by on the way through and (also based on the rating) ended up at the Hotel-Restaurant Pfaff. Unfortunately we were disappointed overall. With already high prices that could compete with the Bavarian capital, the portions were very poor (4 sticks of asparagus, 4 small potatoes and around 100 g of fish for almost €30). Our order was also taken incorrectly twice. In the end the food was mediocre at best. I would therefore advise against visiting the restaurant and recommend driving 5 km further to the next town. This does not represent a review of the hotel.

Reached a little late around 830 pm so there was a smaller menu. We had the schnitzel and vegetable pasta. Beer was cold, Food was good and the service was friendly. Nice looking place close to the waterfall entrance.

Only visited the café or outdoor area! Service was okay. Location is practical, unfortunately prices are completely excessive, at least for the quality of the cake and the size of the children's portion of nuggets (5 or 6 pieces, handful of fries €11). In the Black Forest cake, €6.80 each, the kirsch was completely forgotten in terms of taste, which is a real shame! There's a better way to do it, you can still offer class even with masses.

We had lunch here and it was super delicious. The portion was good, the taste was excellent. The homemade hollondaise sauce was extremely good. What bothers us a bit is that here as well as in many other places you can't pay with a card, or you can only pay for a certain amount.

Restaurant, The menus are disrespectful in 2024 and at such steep prices. Staff was ok. The water prices border on rip-off. Location is nice, right at the entrance to the staircase to the Triberg waterfall.

Nice place, in a central position. Good food, venison stew. Kind waiters but one star for the service because too much and too long to serve, eternal waiting times between one dish and another, perhaps more staff was needed.. ..anyway for the location and the food I recommend....

Zentrumsnah direkt an Strasse . Parkplatz schwierig. Zimmer war leider kalt also nur 12 Grad . Geht gar nicht.

Ich trink wirklich gerne (wenn ich in dieser Ecke bin) das Bier der Brauerei Alpirsbacher. V.a. das Spezial oder Dunkel. Auch wenn 7 € für die Halbe schon halbwegs unverschämt sind, das war es mir wert. Wenn ich mir dann beim Bier aber das faschistische AfD-Remigrations-Geschwafel vom Wirt/ Chef anhören muss, dann vergeht es mir! Da wird das Bier sauer und ich werde es auch. Und wenn es die letzte Kneipe auf Gottes Erdboden ist: Nie wieder!

I went to the restaurant only and it had really nice music and ambiance, the food was also good.

I stayed in this beautiful hotel during my trip to Triberg/Black Forest in December, the hotel is located in a place that has stunning views of black forest and the waterfall. Our room was a cozy haven, decorated with festive touches. The hotel surrounded by the great view of the snow-covered valley and waterfall was like something out of a postcard. The bed was so comfortable, and the washroom was clean. The Hotel is located in an incredible location. The waterfall is just stepping away, the majestic Waterfall plunged into a gorge, its thunderous roar creating a dramatic backdrop to my entire stay. I spent hours strolling along the scenic paths, mesmerized by the Alps cascade and the crisp mountain air. The hotel restaurant has served some mouth-watering local cuisine. I enjoyed the black forest cake which tasted the best, the veg platter was delicious, and the portion was huge. The hotel also has a bar with a calm atmosphere, where I enjoyed after a day of exploring the Black Forest. They have a crafted beer that keeps us warm in the chilly weather. They have a minibar like a vending machine where you can take beer whenever you need it and pay later. I also enjoyed walking around the hotel, Cuckoo Tower, and the museum, and there are plenty of shops in the area for local shopping. The hotel gave me the pass which covered the ticket for the waterfall, museum, and the bus without any fee. I must mention the hotel Manager (Oliver), he is truly a professional and gave me a lot of details about where to go, and what to visit and was available on calls to assist even when I went out for sightseeing. Thank you, Oliver, you have mastered the art of serving the guests incredibly. Saying goodbye to Friberg was bittersweet. I left with hearts full of warm memories and a new appreciation for the magic of the Christmas holidays in the Black Forest. If you're looking for a place to experience genuine hospitality, stunning scenery, and festive cheer, then look no further. It is indeed your gateway to a Black Forest Christmas you'll never forget.

Mhhhh.... ein Gaumenschmaus... ich verstehe die weniger gut bewerteten Kommentare nicht. aber meistens war es ja wegen der warttezewit. und das muss man erstmal hinbekommen, so viel zu tun zu haben, dass jemand warten muss.... also sind diese Bewertungen auch nur eine Bestätigung, das es ECHT KLASSE! ist!!!!! sensationelll!!!!!!!! danke sehr!!!!!

Great atmosphere and service. Staff very friendly toward our children and accommodative. The food was very good. I had a fried whole trout that came with salad and potatoes. Nice selection of local beers. Would definitely go again if we were back in the area.

Best Hotel in this area 😍 we had a lovely stay in Triberg and the local Family that runs that hotel is realy friendly and helping, find your way around. The Restaurant/Café in the entrance has amaizing food, and you realy need to try the black forest cake there, hand baked...

Wir waren sehr enttäuscht. In der Hoffnung, nach den guten Bewertungen eine gehobene gutbürgerliche Küche vorzufinden (was dann auch den sehr gehobenen Preis gerechtfertigt hätte), wollten wir "gut" essen gehen. Die Auswahl war sehr überschaubar, ausser viel Fleisch mit Pommes gab es noch den Fitnessteller, das war die Variante Fleisch mit Salat statt Pommes und einen veganen Teller - veganes "Fleisch" mit Pommes und Salat. Leider konnte uns der Kellner nicht sagen, woraus dieses bestand (irgendetwas mit Kartoffeln). Die Rostbratwurst (mit Pommes und Salat), die wir dann bestellten, hat nie einen Rost oder eine Bratpfanne gesehen. Obwohl die Wurst von einem guten Metzger war, wurde sie in der Fritteuse graufrittiert. Das auf der Karte extra angepriesene Eis gab es nicht, wir entschieden uns für eine Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte zum Dessert, die mit zerlaufener Sahne und Fertigboden für 7 € pro Stück eine Schande war für jedes traditionelle Schwarzwaldrestaurant.

Heel lekker eten, leuke plek, leuk personeel. Het eten is typisch Duits. Aanrader! Als je op zoek bent naar een gezellige plek waar je rustig en warm kunt zitten dan is dit het.

Wir besetzten den letzten Tisch und wurden prompt bedient. Getränke nach ein paar Minuten. Frische Pfifferlinge mit Rösti und SchniPo nach gut 30 Minuten. Alles frisch und sehr lecker. Und das immer freundlich, bei vollem Haus mit teils wirklich schwierigen, ungeduldigen Gästen. Top Leistung.

Slechtste plek om te gaan zitten na het bezoeken van de watervallen. De Schwarzwalderkirsch torte was niet goed en smakeloos en droog, de cola was vies en smakeloos, de apfelstrudel was niet vers. Personeel zeer zeer onvriendelijk, duurde zeker een half uur voordat de bestelling opgenomen werd. Vreselijk, onvriendelijk en gericht op zo snel mogelijk de tafels weer vrij hebben. Personeel heel brutaal tegen andere gasten die wat wilde eten “Heb je tijd genoeg? We zijn niet snel” Ook na het betalen van het gebak hier geen dankjewel tot ziens niks, je werd met de nek aangekeken en ze zagen je liever gaan dan komen. Zeker een afrader.

Gewoon goed, niet meer en niet minder, vlotte bediening. En de prijzen zijn normaal. Je kan niet missen met daar te gaan eten. Leuk en gezellig interieur.

Wir wurden mit den Kindern sehr freundlich empfangen und auch der Hund war sehr willkommen. Essen war hervorragend und alle sehr freundlich.

Wir saßen die beste frische Forelle meines Lebens und der Hirsch war auch super. Das Bioeis und auch der Biokaffe war eine tolle Überraschung. Danke auch für die tolle Bedienung!

Si avez du temps à perdre, il s’agit de l’adresse idéale! Nous avons choisi ce restaurant à la belle devanture juste en face des chutes pour prolonger notre visite de Triberg. Au compteur: 15min pour qu’on daigne venir nous donner une carte, 25min pour un coca et une bière, 60min pour les repas (qui ne cassent pas des briques), obliger de se lever pour régler car le serveur n’avait « pas le temps de passer »…. Bref… horrible

The food was good and fresh. We decided to stop and get something to eat after vising the Triberger Waterfalls. While the food was amazing the service was kinda slow. To be fair, we decided to sit inside while the rest of the guests sat outside. It was a nice summy and warm day but we didn't want to deal with bees and any other bugs. Other than that it was super yummy.
