Nice restaurant near the waterfalls with great service. The apple strudel is great!

We came here for the morning and found everything was closed except for this restaurant, so we had a couple of coffees. They weren't very good, but it was coffee after all. The place wasn't very pleasant, as it smelled strongly of tobacco both outside and inside the restaurant. The price for what we had seemed excessive. It's not a place I would recommend for a drink.

Stayed here from August 10-12, 2025. The hotel is very centrally located in the heart of Trieberg. The rooms are functional and well-equipped. The in-house restaurant has an extensive menu with delicious dishes. The service is very friendly and attentive. All in all, I can recommend the hotel with a clear conscience.

For a "kaffe kuchen" with some ice cream (in a tub; the scoops were victims of their own success), a coffee, and a local beer. A slightly cold welcome, but an enchanting setting.

The location is fine, but that's about it. You don't feel welcome. One male waiter is completely overwhelmed, and sometimes a sour-looking female colleague helps him out, giving him instructions in a directly unfriendly tone. Because of this, it takes ages to order, and the food arrives in stages, getting slammed onto your table and then passed on. The steak chef I got wasn't worthy of the word "steak chef," and the beer you order comes lukewarm. Despite the limited selection of restaurants, I would try elsewhere. A tip for the owner: at least add another person to the waitstaff who enjoys their job. This will allow you to serve tables better and faster, which will ultimately encourage people to order more.

We only stopped for dinner. We had a good time; the full menu and drinks were good. The service was average.

Nice restaurant, but probably a point deduction in service due to overcrowding. We were there around lunchtime. We actually wanted to eat, but thankfully didn't. The service was overwhelmed, many tables were dirty. Our table was cleared when we arrived, but not wiped, and when the waiter finally started cleaning the tables, he did it with the same rag that was already wet and lying in the corner. The restroom wasn't clean either, so all in all, not great or hygienic. But a nice restaurant and otherwise friendly staff. Perhaps better at other times. Price/performance ratio is just touristy.

The Black Forest cake and cheesecake were so good!

A super nicely decorated hotel with a real German atmosphere. The room was spacious with a couch and a desk. The bed was a bit older and saggy, with flat pillows. Not great if you have back problems. The cleaners were often in a rush, so towels and trash cans were sometimes left empty. A beautiful view from the room and a very nice and friendly host! You could also get a Konus Card at the hotel, which gave you access to the waterfalls and transportation. The hotel terrace was nice for breakfast or playing a game in the evening.

It was incredibly nice! We were treated to delicious apple strudel, Black Forest gateau, delicious bread, and hot chocolate, which gave us renewed energy to continue our hike. Highly recommended, and we'd love to go again! As a group from our summer camp, this was a truly warm invitation for us.

Interesting hotel, the location and the service are excellent, unfortunately the furniture is a bit outdated, having dinner in the hotel was a good choice, the Black Forest cake was excellent

What a lovely place in front of the Triberg Waterfalls main entrance (Triberger Wasserfalle Haupteingang)!! Visited this place, just to have Black forest Cake, but for our surprise, there was a Homemade Black Forest Cherry Cake (hausgemachte Schwarzwaelder Kirschtorte) available. After having the cake, the feel was like "One bite closer to happiness, hmmm Yummy". Other than the cake, we didn't have anything here. So, recommended to visit this Restaurant for Black forest Cake!

Fried pork chop with potatoes. It was completely inedible. The precooked potatoes were of the worst quality; the meat was obviously boiled and then fried. My bill for three pork chops with potatoes, two glasses of water, and a medium beer was €76.00. Insane considering the service, the filth, and the quality.

Very good food and it is very close to a supermarket

We'd been sitting on the terrace for about half an hour. Then, from about five meters away, someone called out to us asking if we needed anything. A very unusual way to provide service. Shockingly expensive, too.

Beautiful hotel with good food and drinks.

What a serene place to stay. We were on our way to Switzerland and stopped over Pfaff for an overnight stay and it was truly memorable. Right from the Welcome to check-out everything had a common theme “smile and happiness”. The omelettes, specifically designed for the Indian palette were delicious. We were really surprised how well the property is maintained despite it’s age. The “Peace room” is another feature of Pfaff which I personally loved and was able to connect with. This surely was not our last visit, we will be back soon. Highly recommend this place!!

We had the best customer service experience for dinner here. We were running late coming down from the waterfall and were starving, but everything was closed. We came to Pfaff (basically begging for scraps) but our server, Oliver, found whatever he could to bring us even though the kitchen was closed. I have rarely felt such incredible service. The food was delicious as well. I wish I could give more stars for how he made us feel. He was like a real fairy-godmother from one of the stories written in the very forest we were visiting!

Hotel with an excellent location and splendid staff, however we had a mattress (room 10) that was impossible to rest on (the worst of the trip).

We spent the night in the hotel and got in late, the hotel got the kitchen staff to stay late and it was delicious! The chef’s steak was huge and covered in mushroom and cheese, pork medallions with tomatoes, mushrooms, and gravy were both excellent. Dessert was just as good. Definitely give it a try if you are in area!!!

Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante e siamo stati accolti con gentilezza e simpatia. Ottimi lo spiedino di cervo e la trota. Buona anche la tradizionale torta della foresta nera.

Die Bedienung hat die ganze Terrasse alleine betreut und war dementsprechend gestresst, aber freundlich. Das Essen war leider nicht gut. Die Schweinelende zu viel gebraten, versalzen und trocken. Das Hühnerfleisch im Salat mit vielen Flachsen, fast ungeniessbar. Die Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte zum Nachtisch war zwar frisch gemacht, aber der dunkle Teig war total trocken. Schade.

My brother and his girlfriend were very satisfied.....!!!

We thought it would be nice to have a drink and eat something in the sun on the terrace with a view. We had ordered pork with mushrooms and cheese. We got a bowl of salad as a starter, and that didn't look good. The salad was brown and didn't look tasty. Then we got the pork with cheese with mushrooms on top and in a puddle of gravy. It didn't look tasty, and it wasn't. The pork was tough and not tasty, and the fries that came with it didn't taste good at all. I had 2 bites of meat and a few fries, and left the rest. I didn't even taste the salad. Too bad, nice location but food very bad. I could have gotten a cup of coffee to make up for it, but I declined. Luckily we didn't sleep there. The staff is also not friendly, the menu is quickly put down without saying anything and then gone again. We didn't feel welcome to be honest.

Fantastic Place! No convenience products, no frozen Schnitzel unlike other restaurants in Triberg. Everything is homemade and fresh. I am blown away by the quality of the food and the skill it was prepared with. The homemade apple strudel was the best I ever had. Service was prompt and fluent in English. Highly recommend

I felt cheated: I ordered a small beer for my father, but they brought us a large one. I ordered a plate of Black Forest ham which cost almost 20 euros and when it came there were exactly six slices of ham on one plate. I wouldn't come back.

Niet de beste locatie! We wilden na onze wandeling een biertje drinken. We kwamen binnen en de lege tafels waren vaak vuil: kruimels en vlekken op het tafelkleed. Uiteindelijk een proper tafeltje gevonden. Helaas zaten we wat in de hoek . We hebben daardoor even moeten wachten op kaarten, even moeten wachten op bestellen en dan nog even wachten op 2 biertjes. Personeel was gewoon normaal vriendelijk.

We had dinner here. Upon arrival, we were told they didn't serve pasta or fish. That was fine...but when we ordered, they didn't have any rösti or pancake soup either. The price of the main courses was really reasonable for the portions. We were completely full and the food was really delicious. I personally found the €11.70 for a small onion soup too expensive, as was the almost €7 for a 0.5l beer or apple spritzer. However, I can definitely recommend the restaurant.

Charm of a dive bar: We wanted to have lunch when we went up the stairs to the terrace and someone from the staff was sitting there smoking, but it was so dirty and unkempt that we became suspicious. Up on the terrace, a young man in sweatpants and a grubby T-shirt was clearing the tables. There were half-full plates everywhere. Turn on your heel and walk away. What we saw was enough for us.

We tried the restaurant, dishes were only listed after 2 p.m., there were 5 of us and we tried the pork schnitzel, the 5 schnitzels were full of oil and when we told them, the lady answered us: That's how they should be. But it's not the first time we've eaten schnitzel. When I left the kitchen I saw that the pan was black and used so much oil. I don't recommend this restaurant even if you are dying of hunger like us.

Actually no star but then you can't rate it Unfortunately the food is not worth its name. And the prices reflect the good taste. Prices like in Munich, performance like in the kebab shop. I have to honestly say TOURISTS fall even though we come from the area.

We were only at the hotel to eat, as it is close to the waterfalls, but I regret not going further... first, a long wait for a drink (only 3 tables were occupied, there was no seating outside) even longer for food, an unkind waiter... finally we they got onion soup for 11.70e...in a mini (swollen) cup ..the croutons were completely soaked in size spoons..ugh, my stomach was rising...

Visited today, the 4th of January 2025 at 12 noon. The setting was relaxed with a local charm. We enjoyed a succulent meal with fast and friendly service. The host made us feel very welcome even though he had many guests to attend to. We would definitely recommend the restaurant. The snowy landscape made it extra special.

Not convincing We had to wait a long time before we could even order. The cake was finally served, but the drinks were still a long time coming. The coffee was then brought, but the Sprite I ordered just didn't come. Instead, we were later brought a cola that was completely non-carbonated and tasted like it came from a SodaStream. Unfortunately not what you would hope for from a pleasant visit.

We had a very bad experience with the service. We were not informed the alcohol in the cake and the waiter was very rude about it. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Horrible service. We came in excited to have some authentic black forest cake. But the waiting staff was very rude. He gave us cakes with alcohol and when we questioned he said we should have asked ourselves. Also refused to pack for takeaway and gave discriminatory looks. Do not visit if u r in the region.

Horrible service - Discrimination feel. Felt racist approach from the service. He didn’t even ask for alcohol or non-alcohol cake. His response was you didn’t ask for it. When we asked to pack the cake, his response was vague with discriminating expression. DONT RECOMMEND

The staff is the friendliest I have ever seen in my life, they helped me with several problems we had, they translated several important calls into German for us, super attentive... The best! Thank you so much!!

Regarding the restaurant only: The food was good, though far too expensive for what it was. However, the wait staff are why I would never recommend this restaurant. The wait staff seemed bothered and impatient with us being there. My fiancé was not even finished with her food when a waitress came by and took both of our plates. Afterwards, all of the restaurant’s staff sat down to eat at a table while we sat with no plates and no way to pay our bill since no one was checking on the customers. Of all the restaurants we have ever been to across Europe, I can easily say this was our worst experience. Do yourself a favor if you are reading this review, find one of the many other restaurants or cafe’s in the area. There are many welcoming people in Triberg, the staff of Pfaff are not among them.

This review concerns the restaurant only. We stopped for lunch on a very quiet, rainy Tuesday in December. The food was passable taste-wise, though I found hairs in my meal, and everything was severely overpriced. The service - the reason for this review - was awful. Our waiter behaved as though we were inconveniencing him by being there. He took our order, brought the food, and then vanished. Another employee came by and, without asking, reached across the table and whisked away my half-full plate while I was still eating. She hurried to clear our table. This was seemingly because she and three other employees - our waiter included - decided to go on their lunch break at the table across from us. There were only about two or three other occupied tables, so the place was hardly busy. Yet we were rushed through our meal, and then never received a check. We put on our coats and simply waited to pay. In summary: Hotel Pfaff’s Cafe & Restaurant is overpriced with comically rude waitstaff. We can’t speak on the hotel, but if you’re hungry - find another place to eat in Triberg!

Typical tourist economy. Each guest probably only comes once anyway. Completely overpriced, poor service and a goulash soup from a wholesale can for €10.70. No thanks…

I ate in the Hotel Pfaff restaurant several times over the years. I heard ownership changed hand recently. I always ordered the trout which is so far has been always fresh. This time around besides fresh, it was also tasty. The Black Froest cake was very popular on the day of our visit. It was good but I prefer the one made by the previous owner. The only negative was the price which was on the high side.

The waiter was lovely, the cakes were marvellous. The best place in Triberg.

Good evening, today a group of boys and girls with their teachers, Italians from a school in Rome, were shivering from the cold on a trip to Freiburg, and the bartender, a very friendly person, opened the shop to offer them hot chocolate to warm them up to keep. I don't know this kind gentleman's name, but I really wanted to thank him on behalf of myself and the entire high school. signed by the father of a student.

The most welcoming and good bar in the whole Black Forest, I recommend the hot chocolate and cakes. The staff is very kind and loving.

Unfortunately, the Black Forest cake wasn't tasty, the cream tasted almost rancid, and you couldn't taste the kirsch at all. Café from the fully automatic machine. Price too high - almost €12 for both. Interior very nice, service was nice too.

We only came here for the restaurant so can’t comment on the rooms but we loved the food! The pork schnitzel was perfectly cooked and the fries were perfect. You get a lot of food so the price was reasonable and we ended up splitting the dish. We also tried the black forest cake and it’s better than I imagined. I don’t like cherries in my food, but the cherries used in the cake are slightly tart which goes great with the cake and whipped cream. The cake was a light treat and we would’ve eaten another slice if we could’ve stayed longer. The restaurant was quiet and the gentlemen assisting us knew English and helped us with the menu. Great spot for food and I’ll come back here the next time I visit.

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the rooms as we were only in the restaurant. The food was very tasty and wasn't heavy on the stomach. The service was friendly and quick too. You should expect around €30 per person.

We went there for dinner today. The waitresses were very friendly. None of us really enjoyed the food. Very little, and overpriced.

Unfortunately, the food was neither good nor cheap. Game not well done, vegetables not good, sauces have no taste and almost everything is canned and not fresh. At prices like these you expect a little more. Absolutely not recommended in Triberg. Service was okay although as we were leaving we saw a waiter eating a customer's salad with his hand.

We didn't like it at all. The price was very expensive for what the cakes and coffee were. The waiter had no desire to serve or talk to tourists. It really is much more worth going anywhere else since Triberg is close by.

Unfortunately the food doesn't match the price. The deer goulash for 30 €: Spaetzle was really very bad. Not homemade, no taste and hard Sauce for the meat with no taste

Today we ate and drank there with a bus full of passengers, but every time we come here the same whining that “the internet is not working” so they do not give you the opportunity to use your debit card. All companies within a radius of 50 meters can do this, except Pfaff. And that has been going on for a year now...

I visited this restaurant based on positive reviews. It did not live up to expectations. The host ignored us initially then when we finally realised we should seat ourselves he asked us to move into the back area for another family. We were too slow to agree with for his liking and his annoyance was palpable. We found a different table then were told we could only order from the ‘afternoon menu’ (from 14:00-18;00) even though the times were crossed out on the menu. Staff seemed impatient and irritable even though it was pretty quiet with tourists. We went across the road to Landgasthof zur Lilli where had an excellent meal with friendly efficient service.

The owner/manager was so racist. Although there were free tables, at least a few of them, she said there was no free table. We even agreed to take the cake where she said I won't give the cake outside. Overall behavior was downright unwelcome and rude. Never again!!

After a walk we stopped on the terrace for a drink. The card was thrown on the table, without a friendly welcome or eye contact. It took about fifteen minutes before we could order drinks (from a different server) and then it took another fifteen minutes before we had drinks. In addition, there was a box with loud rap music on, which did not fit the atmosphere. Finally, we could not pay for our voucher with the pin, because the amount was too small (€12.50).

Two of us had dinner one evening in August, outside. Service a little slow and not very accurate. Prices perhaps a little higher than average but the only comparison we can make is with another restaurant which however is more than 5 km away. We took the schnitzel which was perhaps the least expensive dish. Even though we were outdoors, some customers who were smoking allowed the smoke to reach us; obviously it's not the restaurateur's fault but perhaps banning smoking outside wouldn't be a bad idea. The location is on the main street of Triberg. We had dinner and left immediately for the reason stated above

Ok, so I messed up my reservation. I meant to book a stay for two night fri-sat. I ended up booking thur-fri. When I didn't show up on time, the owner called me and helped me out by blocking off an extra room for Saturday, didn't charge me the cancelation fee for the original booking, and was nothing but wonderful and pleasant the entire time. It a beautiful little spot right next to the waterfall, with picturesque views. The restaurant is also amazing with lovingly prepared local dishes. The staff is incredibly attentive and I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling the black forest as it is right in the middle and you can get out to anything you want to see or do in a short time. 10/10

Après avoir visité les cascades et admiré les coucous (horloges) avons décidé de déjeuner dans ce restaurant bien placé, joli et avec une belle carte. Avons opté pour la belle salle intérieure, moins chaude et moins bruyante que la terrasse. Les assiettes de chasse étaient belles, bonnes et copieuses surtout en pleine période "chanterelles". Très bonne découverte donc

The most expensive piece of Black Forest for €7.20 without kirsch but by no means the best I've ever eaten... It's a shame... I think it's very exaggerated, mass instead of great 🤷🏽‍♀️

The food was an absolute disaster. Spaetzle and deer ragout are barely worth 10 euros. And that for almost 32 euros. The other three food was also borderline. If you want to use this food to get customers to come back, you would have to close the shop after a month.

We sat at the terrace to have lunch and the smell there from the WC downstairs was disgusting. Very unfriendly staff, the waiter threw us the menu without even saying „hello“. We stood up and ran away as quick as possible! PS: the prices there are as expensive as those of a good restaurant in Zurich, I have to laugh, it‘s a tourist trap!

We just wanted to eat something there (on the website, as well as at the entrance to the restaurant, there was a note saying "warm food throughout"). We were immediately greeted by a service person with the following words: "That's enough, we have a break".

Dear owner, please invest in customer service. We entered for a coffee and slightly repositioned one table in the terrace to be out of sunlight. The waiter looked upset at us as if we killed someone. We left without ordering for a more friendly place, with the waiter promptly repositioning the table (under the sun). Goodbye.

I can't rate this as a hotel. But the restaurant does. This time I'll start with the service; there's still some room for improvement in terms of friendliness and attentiveness. The food is OK. The ambience is a bit old-fashioned, but perhaps that's intentional. The restaurant is influenced by tourism. This can also be seen in the funny notice of the menu outside in the masonry. We went there for lunch because the other restaurant in front was full. We went in without looking at the menu because it was a bit late and we didn't want to miss lunch. The prices are very expensive and the quality is very poor for the price they charge. The amount is also a bit fair for this price. The service was ok.

Je kan het Zwarte Woud niet bezocht hebben zonder het Schwarzwalder gebak genomen te hebben. We komen hier terecht om het te testen. Het terras ligt leuk aan de weg en aan de entree van de waterval. De dienstdoende ober heeft nog niet zijn dag. Hoewel hij tegen ons wel vriendelijk is moeten met name de Amerikaanse toeristen het ontgelden. In Amerika is het gebruikelijk dat je naar een tafel wordt gebracht (being seated). Het groepje Amerikaanse toeristen verwacht dat hier ook maar in Europa is dit vaak niet het geval en ga je gewoon ergens zitten. Ze vragen tot 3 keer aan de ober of ze echt zomaar ergens kunnen zitten. Dan is hij het blijkbaar zat en zegt hij "Egal wo Scheiße!". Dat kan natuurlijk echt niet! Shame on him. Maar goed dan het gebak. De cheesecake is prima maar het ging mij om het Schwarzwalder kersengebak en die is....voldoende. Geen hoogvlieger maar goed eetbaar. Wel wat aan de droge kant. Geen topper, het kan echt beter en voor 7,20 per stuk mag het ook wel beter. Verder valt op dat de prijzen erg fors zijn. Triberg is nogal toeristisch door de plaatselijke waterval en de koekoeksklokken maar het zijn nou ook weer niet bepaald de Niagara Falls die hier liggen. Met 5,30 voor een kop thee en 4,30 voor een kop koffie doet dat anders vermoeden in ieder geval. Positief puntje de heer die binnen de bestellingen verzorgd, hij is zeer vriendelijk en dat maakt het dan nog een beetje goed. Werk aan de winkel voor deze zaak!

We went to eat at a restaurant. Service and food good. The dog is welcome and the waiter even brought water for the dog, which I greatly appreciated.

You can tell that they don't have to try because the tourists come anyway, my husband had spaetzle that was very bad, they just poured cream sauce over it. So really nothing special. The tea was quite good (there was loose tea), service was friendly

I loved the whole vibe of the stay, I travelled from India and stayed here for 2 weeks.the owner sir Oliver was just the most humble person to meet . The room service was at its best and clean. The food served is very clean, hygienic and delicious. I did share my Indian food with them and was a epic experience together. Anyone looking for a perfect stay ,this is the place in Triberg.do bring in your Indian food ,they love it lol 😂

So for the capital of the Black Forest cake, we were disappointed. We found the sponge cake dry and we missed the kirsch. Presumably adapted to the general public's taste? Very unfortunate. The view was great, there was a good place to sit on the terrace and the staff tried hard to accommodate the influx of visitors. About the prices. Yes, Triberg is a tourist attraction and you pay €23 for 2 Black Forest kirsch and 2 coffees People have to live on something.

Overall nice restaurant. The dishes are generous and well presented. 35€ per person.

We waited for 10 mins to be seated without being acknowledged. We then sat at a table covered with dirty crockery for 20 mins without being acknowledged. We moved to the next table which was clear and asked for a menu, in German. The server said yes and then walked past us another five times without bringing us a menu. After seeing her serve people who had come in long after us, we left. 10 mins waiting and 26 mins sitting and didn't even get to see a menu, even though by the time we left there were plenty of free tables. Other people around us were complaining that their orders had been forgotten and the server seemed to be making excuses to other tables. Not recommended!

I was only there to eat, which tasted very good. Service top. Finding a parking space is a problem, as is the case everywhere else
