Hotel Restaurant Landhaus zur Issel in Isselburg

Never again! We booked a double room for two people and one dog by phone – the price ended up being significantly more expensive than agreed. There was no contact person on site, just a key on a table. There was only one blanket and one pillow in the room, even though the reservation was for two. The next day, I received an email with an additional charge for one person and the dog – even though everything was already stated. When I asked, they simply said they had "misunderstood me." The room wasn't clean, the shower stall was moldy, and the shower head was disgusting. In three nights, no cleaning, only one fresh towel, and then not even a second blanket and pillow. The door was extremely thin and rattled with every movement in the stairwell. Check-in and check-out were completely anonymous, with no staff to be seen. I paid the additional charge to have peace and quiet. I would give absolutely no stars for service. Conclusion: Overpriced, unkempt, unprofessional – a complete disappointment!

If you’ve booked CANCEL! We booked a year ago for a wedding. Arrived to a falling apart excuse of a hotel. No service. No answering calls. Dirty. No bed linen. Electrical wires hanging out of walls and doors that don’t lock.

As a mechanic for a large local company, I've been a guest here for over 13 years. The hotel is now run by a young entrepreneur and has drastically downsized. There's no longer a restaurant, no one to contact during the day or in the evening, and this morning I pointed out to the owner that there's no shower head in the shower. It happens, but this evening there was still no improvement. The room isn't even cleaned or checked during the day, and the trash can stays full all week! Unfortunately, this is the last time I'll check in here! This is unacceptable for this price!

The hotel is very cozy. The room has a large bed, a wardrobe, a smart TV, a toilet and a shower with everything you need. We checked in late, but the owner sent detailed instructions on how to get to your room. So there were no difficulties. The entrance to the hotel is very picturesque. Breakfast is available for an extra fee. It is good that there is parking for customers.

Horror hotel!!!! We planned to stay at the hotel for a weekend, but we didn't even stay one night and immediately "escaped" after checking out. Even when we booked, there was no confirmation of the requested extra bed, which even cost an additional €15 per night. We couldn't reach anyone by phone either. Upon arrival, there was no extra bed, no reception, no staff, or any other contact person. On the board in the hallway, there was an emergency number that simply read "01" (see photo). The numbers on the hotel and restaurant websites are unavailable. We found the room key on a table in the stairwell, with our name on it. Next to it was another room key for other people, which we could have taken with us. There were broken glass pieces in the hallway outside our room. The room itself was completely filthy, run-down, shabby, and very noisy. The toilet was covered in urine on the worn toilet seat, and there were traces of other waste in the toilet itself. Above it was a large stain that looked like someone had vomited on it. The door lock was broken, and the wires were exposed. The electrical outlets were also broken and partially out of the wall. The small table was dirty, dusty, and full of crumbs. The two different glasses on the table were dirty. There was a large sticky stain in the cupboard. (See pictures). It was simply awful, and we just wanted to leave! Absolutely not recommended!

The hotel is centrally located, but there is no private parking lot, but there is free parking on a gravel lot across the street. The self-service check-in was okay. Room doors with open locks, some of which were electric and had open battery compartments, were not very trustworthy. The rooms are functional, there were only a few towels per person, and the toilet paper was half empty. Breakfast was disappointing. The hotel was well staffed, but the buffet was unfortunately sparsely stocked. Basics like jam were nowhere to be found; water and juice were also empty, and there was no yogurt or milk in the cereal. Upon request, it was promised that scrambled eggs would be restocked in 10 minutes, once they were ready. One server for everything. The price-performance ratio is not justified. If the breakfast room is full on a Sunday, you should plan accordingly and not look for excuses such as that guests usually eat breakfast out. Please also offer a booking option without breakfast.

Comfortable room, friendly staff, great breakfast

We rented the apartment and were satisfied. It is simply but functionally furnished and the size is more than enough for 6 people. The hotel is located in the middle of Isselburg, but is very quiet. Excursion destinations such as the Anholter Schweiz wildlife park are in the surrounding area.

An old hotel under young management in transition. The first impression was exciting and confusing because the navigation system sent us to an entrance that was on the side of the street but was no longer active. We were immediately available by phone and received very good help, and we were able to choose from three rooms. The room we chose including the bathroom was clean and tidy. In the morning we were met by a very cheerful and very friendly hotel owner who asked us about our wishes at breakfast. The breakfast was rich and sufficient, Fresh coffee and scrambled eggs, plus warm rolls. The hotel was recently acquired and is undergoing a transformation both in terms of technology, heating and design. The trained young guest novelist has many good ideas and, when we asked, showed us how the current problems could be solved. We thought the value for money was great and we decided to visit the hotel again in a few weeks.

Booking 01/02/02/2025 Heating broken in sub-zero temperatures, correspondingly very cold room, unclear statements about repairs, refusal to cancel, no written confirmation of the defect. Then changed the hotel. The heating was also not repaired, see other review 02/02/2025. The payment was then refunded via Booking.com. (Exemplary customer service)!!!

We had the apartment for a weekend. What a wonderful space. Good facilities and slept wonderfully.

When we first inspected it (at lunchtime outside opening hours), the restaurant gave the impression of being permanently closed, as there were neither opening times nor a menu posted and the entrance was blocked by garden furniture. When we stopped by again in the evening, our impression was not confirmed. The restaurant was almost 40% full. So it was easy to get a place. The rustic atmosphere is very appealing and the staff is very friendly. We can't say anything about the hotel's operation as we were only there to eat. It is customary for us to share every dish or course. Dealing with our desire is a real challenge for some restaurants. The Hotel Landhaus zur Issel dealt with this as follows: Depending on the course, we were given an additional plate with the dish or we were given two plates and the dish was served on an extra plate. We found this to be a very good solution. We ordered as First course: Homemade dill and salmon crostini Second course: Mediterranean Greek salad (we were missing some bread here) third course: fried vegetable noodles fourth course: Dobio ice cream walnut vanilla with caramel sauce We had the impression that all dishes were freshly prepared. They were all very tasty. What we particularly liked: All dishes were prepared with little salt and fat. Adding salt is always possible, but it wasn't necessary for us because we eat very little salt. Thanks to the sparing use of fat, the dishes were very digestible. The menu posted online was not 100% identical to the one in the restaurant. The price-performance ratio was ok. We only found the wines to be too expensive (0.2l glass from €7.50 and up). So we decided on beer. At the end we got a nightcap on the house. We were certainly not here for the last time.

The hotel was no longer reachable after booking. There was no response by email regarding the restaurant reservation, nor by phone. The restaurant was closed. The first breakfast was okay, but the second was a complete rip-off. Even the very friendly service staff couldn't make up for this disappointment.

Super delicious food as always and nice service.

We had a very good meal there, and the wine was also very good. The restaurant owner was very entertaining, friendly, and attentive. The prices for the food and drinks were also reasonable. We will go there again. I can't comment on the rooms, as we were only there for dinner.

My review refers to a restaurant visit after its reopening in 2024, under the Food & Drinks section. I did so following the owner's request to contact me via email. Apparently, that was just a fake, because there was no response at all.

My girlfriend and I had dinner at this restaurant. My girlfriend ordered a fish for herself, and we can say that it was one of the best fish we had eaten. I took the steak and it was cooked perfectly and the taste did not disappoint. We will definitely go back. Thank you!

I am very surprised. The many extremely good reviews either come from people who have no expectations at all, or they are simply made up. Doesn't matter. I can't say anything about the restaurant, but the hotel operation is in no way up to date. There is no relationship between price and performance. The rooms are outdated, poorly cleaned or not cleaned at all, everything is poorly organized and if there are any problems there is no one to contact... All of the guests who arrived at the same time as us were, like us, overwhelmed. That's a real shame, because a lot could be done with this hotel with a little good taste and creativity. The noise from the street and the really loud church bells were clearly the lesser evil.

Another wonderful day spent in the country house. Very friendly lady at the reception. Rooms very modern and clean all around. The garden is so well maintained and designed with a lot of effort. Breakfast made the day healthy and fit again. Very plentiful and enough for everyone. Will definitely come back and spend several nights there. I'm excited to see what else the restaurant will bring from July 31st. 2024

I have never experienced anything like it. I had made a reservation in this hotel for one night from today, Saturday to tomorrow, Sunday, as I am in Isselburg at a congress this weekend. This morning during the lectures I get a call saying that there was smoking in my room and they couldn't give it to me, but of course there was a room in the sister hotel 10 km away. After I said that I had specifically looked for a hotel on the short way from the venue, they wanted to contact me again in half an hour. I obviously naively thought that a real solution was being sought. Fabrics can be washed/mattresses exchanged. A lot of things are possible on a Saturday morning. Or maybe looking for an alternative that isn't so far away. I then called again, they clearly weren't looking, but recommended other options (but they were fully booked, which they could have checked). I have two lovely but also tiring days here and a quiet night would have been important, unfortunately they forgot to mention that the sister hotel is in the party center in Bocholt. It's really loud here now and my room is of course facing the party. I definitely would have looked for a different solution if I had this information. I stay at least 4-5 nights in different hotels every month for work, and I have never experienced such poor service. Anything can happen, but how you deal with the situation is much better.

As always great. Unfortunately today was the last day. Maybe closed forever.

It was a very individual and particularly developed restaurant with exclusive cuisine and matching wines. We really enjoyed being there with our Dutch friends, enjoyed great service, always very friendly!!!! We regret the closure. The owner and staff created a very relaxed, distant atmosphere in which you could feel very welcomed, noticed and pampered. We really enjoyed being there.

Had some good traditional German food after a 30 km hike. They were so kind to open their bar a bit early so we could enjoy a beer while waiting for the kitchen to start serving.

A big movie theater. The cuisine is excellent. The service was courteous and attentive. Great.

Very nice restaurant with a beautiful garden. For over 20 euros you can expect a handmade schnitzel in addition to the croquettes; the pepper sauce tasted like old socks. There were four of us waiting on site and the billing was incorrect twice, so the correction was also made incorrectly. It's probably better that a new wind comes into the store....

Reply good food. The best salmon steak and steak. Wine is good selection as well. Although it’s far from big city but really quiet to stay.

Das Restaurant hat ganz besonderes Ambiente. Man sitzt in kleinen Nischen. Und es ganz liebevoll gestaltet. Nur zum empfehlen!

Obwohl das Restaurant in unserem Dorf liegt, hatten wir bisher noch keine Gelegenheit, es auszuprobieren. Aufgrund der vielen positiven Kommentare unserer Bekannten und Freunde beschlossen wir jedoch, unsere amerikanischen Freunde letzte Woche dorthin mitzunehmen. Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Abend. Unsere Kellnerin(nen) waren mehr als freundlich, hilfsbereit und konnten uns sehr gut (und ehrlich) beraten. Die Speisekarte bietet für jeden etwas, und es war für uns alle leicht, etwas Leckeres auszuwählen. Das Essen war köstlich, schön präsentiert und offensichtlich frisch zubereitet mit hochwertigen Produkten. Das Restaurant sieht von außen sehr charmant aus, und das setzt sich auch im Inneren fort. Die Einrichtung ist eine gut ausgewogene Mischung aus rustikal und modern, und das Ambiente ist gemütlich und stimmungsvoll. Bei all dem war es natürlich kein Wunder, dass sich das Restaurant immer weiter füllte, als wir dort waren. Für uns ist es sehr empfehlenswert und wir werden Landhaus zur Issel auf jeden Fall öfters besuchen. Hunde sind willkommen.

Schönes kleines Hotel, mit viel Charme in den Zimmern und auch den Gasträumen.

Super Zimmer, sehr sauber. Service ist eine Katastrophe. Wir sind nach 20 Minuten ohne jede Bedienung wieder gegangen, Personal vollkommen überfordert und das bei gerade mal 10 Gästen. Getränke vom Nachbartisch bei uns abstellen und dann einfach gehen . Nie wieder das Restaurant. Frühstück auch nur sehr lieblos und nicht von hoher Qualität. Räumlichkeiten sehr schön und sauber..

Unser Lieblingsrestaurant - so viel Auswahl an glutenfreier Speisen. Alle Soßen sind von Haus aus glutenfrei sowie z.B. die Süßkartoffelpommes, die Schnitzel und es gibt auf Nachfrage glutenfreies Brot zur Vorspeise. So kann man die tollen Dips auch mit einer Glutenunverträglichkeit genießen. Alles wird frisch zubereitet. Die Weine sind darüber hinaus phänomenal. Das Ambiente ist wunderschön und ruhig, der Service stets sehr freundlich und fröhlich. Das Essen ist frisch und lecker und saisonal angepasst.

War eine Nacht da. Es war sauber, gut ausgestattet. Personal war super gelaunt. Frühstück war super. Fand das ganze Hotel sehr gemütlich. Restaurant kann ich nicht beurteilen, da ich es nicht genutzt habe. Ich konnte mein Fahrrad in einer Garage unterstellen. Also alles super .

Wir waren im Landhaus zur Issel zum Essen und es war super lecker. Allen Anwesenden schmeckten die gerichte sehr gut. Der Service war top. Wir kommen gerne noch mal wieder

Moderne Zimmer freundliche Personal

War dort jetzt mehrfach Abends Essen. Toll um einfach im Dorf mal ausgehen zu können, und nicht jedesmal Fahren zu müssen. Das Essen hat jedes Mal gleich Gut geschmeckt , Personal jedes Mal sehr Freundlich und das Ambiente ist wahnsinnig Gemütlich!

Sehr schönes Hotel mit ausgezeichneter Küche, auch für Veggies geeignet. Schönes Restaurant mit Ziegelgewölbe mit angenehmer, gepflegter Atmosphäre. Der Sauvignon Blanc war ne Wucht. Das Zimmer war renoviert und sehr ordentlich und sauber. Nur die Bettwäsche nicht ganz. Dafür war das Bett bequem und trotz Zimmer zur Straße war es sehr ruhig. Das Bad war ebenfalls sauber und renoviert, allerdings nicht neuester Standard. Das ist jedoch Klagen auf sehr hohem Niveau. Der Ort selbst ist ganz nett, die unmittelbare Nähe zur Hüttenindustrie jedoch sorgt für starke Geruchsbelästigung während der Betriebszeiten. Der Ascheregen auf mein Auto führte auch nicht zu Heiterkeit, zumal heimische Bürger dazu geraten haben, das Zeugs umgehend abzuwaschen. Die Stadt, insbesondere der Ortsteil Anholt mit dem Wasserschloss, ist eine Wanderung wert, zumal die nahe Grenze zu den Niederlanden einen Abstecher nach Dinxperlo ermöglicht. Wer auf schöne Wald- & Wanderwege hofft, muss hier wie auch sonst im Münsterland oft die asphaltierten Wege mit den Radfahrern teilen. Das geht auf Dauer auf Füße und Gelenke. Vielleicht direkt eine Fahrradtour planen. Dafür ist das Hotel ein toller Start- und Endpunkt, denn sowohl das Frühstücksbüffet wie auch das Dinner erfreuen Körper und Seele.

Waren schon mehrfach Essen, als Paar und als Familie. Sehr freundlich und Essen war jedes Mal super. Immer wieder gerne.

Gehobene küsche sehr lecker Service Bedienung spitzenklasse

Hier passt einfach alles. Excellentes Essen, eine tolle Weinauswahl, sehr zuvorkommender Service und das zu fairen Preisen.

Günstiges Hotel nahe der holländischen Grenze. Essen im Restaurant war okay. Frühstücksbuffet für die Hotelkategorie überdurchschnittlich gut. Im Restaurant super freundliches, aufmerksames und gut gelauntes Personal. Zimmer sauber und modern ausgestattet, leider aber sehr hellhörig, Wasserdruck in der Dusche ziemlich schwach, nichts für Menschen mit langen Haaren. Insgesamt gutes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis.

Comfort Doppelzimmer. Die Zimmer sind groß, geräumig und gut eingerichtet. Betten sehr bequem. Badezimmer sauber und ausreichend groß. Täglicher Zimmerservice, der Handtücher tauscht, Betten macht und Bad putzt. Restaurant sehr gut. Reichhaltiges Frühstück inklusive.

Lekker gegeten in dit zeer gezellig ingerichte restaurant. Wel 1 ster minder omdat een restaurant die aangeeft een "Gutbürgerliche en Gehobene kuche" te hebben toch instaat zou moeten zijn de groene pepersaus iets heter te maken op verzoek, wat niet mogelijk bleek... Ook waren de 2 stukjes varkensvlees ietwat taai en karig. Toch zeker voor een bezoek aan te bevelen!

Für mich ein echter "Geheimtipp"!!! Mega Essen, tolle Gastgeber, Komme seit Jahren immer mal wieder gerne vorbei und nehme dafür auch gerne einige Kilometer in Kauf. 👍👍👍

Heel fijn gehad met goed eten en hele aardige mensen . Het is echt een aanrader de kamer was mooi en heel schoon. Het eten was van top kwaliteit
