We had a delicious meal here in a lovely setting. The service was very friendly. Overall, we were extremely satisfied and would gladly return.

The food at the restaurant is incredibly good, and the service staff are incredibly courteous, attentive, and friendly. What I particularly liked was how child-friendly everyone was. It's not a place where children should be running around wildly, but we had our 8-month-old son with us, and they immediately offered me a high chair, an extra plate, and a small extra glass for my water after I suggested sharing it with my child. Now that's truly great service.

Centrally located hotel in Lengriess with dated but spacious rooms. Very friendly service, especially Jonny, who looks after the many e-bikes. The food is tasty, although some portions are a bit small. There's a beer garden, as well as a vending machine. There's also a sauna, but we didn't use it.

I stopped here for a bite to eat after my hike. It was good regional food. Unfortunately, I don't understand what Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) is (even if it was just a side dish). More like just adding some melted cheese on top... Otherwise, the quantity and price were OK.

We had dinner at the 'Altwirt' during our summer vacation without a reservation. Getting a seat was no problem, and the service was very friendly. The food arrived quickly and was incredibly delicious. Beautifully presented, the portions were generous, and the value for money was also good. We'd love to come back on our next vacation.

I was out cycling and ate there. The food was very good and tasty, and the staff was very friendly. The prices were reasonable.

The taste is okay and fresh, but the portions are tiny: the burger is barely bigger than a McDonald's cheeseburger, the schnitzel is very small, and the portion of fries is as small as a pack of cigarettes. None of us (7 people, including children) were satisfied – despite the high prices. While our criticisms were listened to, the hostess herself showed "no interest" in a conversation. Drinks are priced normally. Overall, unfortunately, a disappointing value for money and poor customer service.

The four of us were in the lovely, shady beer garden. The food was decent, and the price was reasonable, but the arrogant, older waiter made us feel unwelcome. We often come to the Altwirt, but we only feel comfortable when younger waitresses or the owner herself are on duty.

Great location, terrible service. We went to eat at the restaurant "Der Altwirt." Unfortunately, the service team made us feel like we weren't really welcome and that our €80 for two main courses and two children's meals plus dessert wasted. As restaurant kids, we're incredibly happy to have found one of those places where everything seems to be in order: here, the money still rolls in despite the terrible service. However, the profit margin seems to be made in the food production—as we've read in other reviews, it seems like a lot of instant coffee is used here. If we'd read this beforehand, we would have been spared such an experience.

I took the lunch in the restaurant after a bicycle trip , great food, great beer , nice people . I stayed on the terrace but I have the chance to look inside - it looks great in the Bavarian traditional style. I noticed that the dogs are also welcomed .

Thank you for three excellent meals. The dogs also felt very comfortable thanks to the other friendly guests.

I was there for dinner with my family. Both the Wiener Schnitzel and the Cordon Bleu had good quality meat and generous portions. Unfortunately, all the dishes were swimming in fat, which wasn't so pleasant. On the other hand, the drinks menu certainly makes wheat beer lovers happy. The friendly waiter saved the rating from three to four stars.

We ate there twice because we enjoyed it so much. I love cordon bleu and have to say, it was one of the best I've ever eaten. The beer-crusted roast from the daily specials was no less good; the portions were generous, and the food was fresh and very tasty. The service was fast, friendly, and very attentive. We'll be back.

We went there for dinner. It was delicious, the wait time was okay. The decor was really cozy. The burgers were a bit small, but the sauce was divine. The cheese spaetzle was incredibly delicious. Everything was top-notch.

Wir waren hier zum Essen, krustenbraten und schlemmerpfanne. Das Essen kam kurz nach den Getränken, so blitzschnell, dass es nicht frisch zubereitet sein konnte. Die Schlemmerpfanne war noch ok, der krustenbraten allerdings völlig geschmacklos und nur fett, der Kloß leider nich fluffig frisch. Sorry, aber lecker geht anders.

A very charming hotel with functional rooms and a very cozy restaurant, good food and drinks. A lovely beer garden. A rich breakfast buffet. A sauna and bike rental are available on-site.

"Altwirt" Inn in Lenggries (about a 6-minute walk from the train station): We stopped here for dinner on a day trip (due to good reviews) and were completely satisfied! "Asparagus Cordon Bleu" with potatoes and salad, followed by "Kaiserschmarrn" (smothered in pancakes) that truly deserves its name (cooked without powdered sugar upon request - about 15 minutes, so no packets or freezer mess, just fresh!). Also catfish in a mustard and cream sauce with potatoes and pan-fried vegetables. Accompanied by local wheat beer on tap. Beautiful beer garden; rustic Bavarian interior with a hotel. Very friendly service! What more could you want? Highly recommended!

I am aware that a 5-star rating can raise eyebrows, especially if the individual categories are below this superior rating. But there is a very simple reason for this: We, a married couple, felt completely comfortable and at home here on our bike tour along the Isarweg at the beginning of May 2025. And if the rooms or even the entire house are getting old, we don't care in a way. In detail. **Room** We had reserved by phone and stayed in room 25 under the attic. I don't presume to judge the calculation of the room price, but I am of the opinion that 100 EUR would have done the job (we paid 118 EUR). However, compared to the prices of other hotels listed on booking.com, it was still cheap - holiday region, you take or stay at home. The price included a manageable but completely sufficient breakfast buffet. We would have liked a little more fruit, but that affects personal preferences and it can quickly become unfair. What I, the coffee lover, didn't like at all was the coffee. The cappuccino came with far too much milk (and spilled it onto the waiter's saucer), the filter coffee was too thin, and the espresso tasted unpleasantly bitter. Was it the type? At the machine? I have no idea, but my tip: Please check whether things could be improved. So overall: breakfast ok! **Service** It was May 1st and there was a lot of activity at the Almwirt. The fast-working waitresses and employees didn't let us feel this, they remained friendly in a way that let us enjoy our stay. Our 5 stars come from somewhere... 🤩 **Food & Drink** An extensive, but by no means just any menu; every court seems to have its justification. There's classic Bavarian, pleasant vegetarian and enough for carnivores (burgers). What was put on the tables looked very inviting in every single case. We enjoyed it, although hunger doesn't have particularly demanding expectations after a long bike ride. So kitchen: very, very ok! **and otherwise...** In the past, when saying goodbye, it was said, “Honour us again soon”; At the Almwirt, the chambermaid and receptionist gave us a confident wish: “See you next time!” We liked that. The caretaker or the man who runs the rental station took care of our bikes. Like the majority of the staff, he is not a local, but in our opinion comes from one of the more eastern countries, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic. He was also very helpful, courteous and supportive. Great and big thank you! Keep it up!

What a lovely place with wonderful people! I stayed for 3 nights in one of their double rooms. It was very spacious and clean. The bed was amazing, very good mattress. The lady at breakfast was very helpful and kind, greeting everyone each morning and bringing them a hot beverage. Nice spread; I was very happy with the fresh fruit and tea choices! I got checked in and out by a wonderful man who not only manned the reception, but also served in the busy restaurant and was still friendly, patient and a joy to chat with. One of the nights I ate at the restaurant and it was delicious and looked very good. Can absolutely recommend Hotel & Restaurant Der Altwirt!

I can't comment on the room, I was only there a few times for lunch. Really nice Bavarian restaurant, nice tables outside, always fast, helpful and very nice service and, above all, really good, well-crafted and varied food at fair prices. Always worth a stop and a perfect stop for hikers, cyclists and those who want to become one.

Unfortunately it has worn off a lot. Very outdated, except for the newly built toilets on the ground floor. The rooms also smelled very musty and dusty, in keeping with the overall “rustic” feel of the hotel. We have been regular customers for more than 10 years now (we have also celebrated “festivities” there for almost all of our smaller families, such as funerals, baptisms, school enrolments, etc.) UNFORTUNATELY, one now has the feeling that arrogance is becoming more and more the order of the day there. I really “unfortunately” have to write this because we really enjoyed coming here for years and even after we moved 40km further away, we still drove here regularly. On our last visit (which will literally have been our LAST), the arrogance, cynicism and unfriendliness exceeded everything that had ever happened before, which we always tried to justify in some way, because we liked coming here... BUT, the fact that you are laughed at, spoken to stupidly, roll your eyes and shake your head, even though you originally just asked a normal question and criticized something (it was just that the friend had hardly any carbon dioxide and we pointed it out, really without any bad intentions or anything), that's the height. Apart from the fact that the waitress (who regularly, if not almost always, makes a face that could almost scare you), obviously got up on the wrong foot today. Did we choose a “competent” contact person for us (probably the head waiter), who, when we commented that we were really appalled by such behavior and would spend almost any party with them, responded with a cynical and arrogant smile, “Then you’ll just have to celebrate when she’s not there”. Yes, it sounds logical, but it is definitely anything but customer-friendly or customer-oriented. The boss was also informed by the staff about this triviality, but did not comment on it either. For coming here regularly for so long, for the children having almost grown up here (completely exaggerated of course, but they know their way around here like nowhere else) and for having left several thousand euros here. Did it really come to an absolutely horrifying end? Gastronomy in particular is suffering from the Corona pandemic, you see that despite everything you can still support your favorite restaurant and after the pandemic the “survival” will probably go to your head and you will take off. Frightening. It's a real shame, unfortunately the food was almost always very good.

To save money, they make Kaiserschmarrn with cooking oil, not butter. Mine was then drowned in fat. No butter, but expensive: price difference to my friend's roast pork as the main course was €1. This is not Bavarian cuisine and I feel exploited as a guest and am annoyed with you as a restaurant.

Had lunch. After the renovation everything is wonderfully rustic and modern. Food was great at moderate prices. So the lunch menu is very worthwhile.

Super delicious Hungarian pork goulash!

We wanted to have something small to eat there. The waiter made us feel unwanted from minute 1. He was rude, unfriendly and kept us waiting for a long time. Unfortunately, he also smelled worse than the two of us combined after a good hike. It's a shame, I actually heard a lot of good things, but the waiter really ruined it. I can't really rate the food, I had fries, you can't go wrong.

In my opinion the best economy in Lenggries. Very good Bavarian cuisine. Good portions. Sometimes there are a few Spanish things. Very nicely decorated, very attentive service. The beer garden looked good too, but it was too cold. Good opening times and card payment is also possible. I'll be back!

Wir waren an einem Dienstag dort, die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und interessiert! Die Karte ist regional und auch vielfältig. Auch für Vegetarier. Die Portionen sind absolut ausreichend und auch geschmacklich gut! Man bekommt sehr schnell das bestellte Essen serviert.

Essen ist nicht zu empfehlen. Einheimische die bei uns am Tisch weilten lobten das Lokal in den höchsten Tönen. Als Sie aber bezahlten stellte sich heraus daß Beide je einen Wurstsalat hatten. Jetzt wußten Wir was Wir von dieser Empfehlung halten mußten.

It seems to me that my wife had a bad day. We went in at 4:30 p.m. and waited 10 minutes for service even though there were only guests at one table. The waiter was friendly but told us that we should wait for the evening menu from 5 p.m. as there would be more available then. Ordered drinks again, waited 10 minutes. With the drinks came the notice that the drinks had to be paid for first and the colleagues would then take care of ordering the food. At around 5:15 p.m. still no one had taken care of us or an order... So after 45 minutes... I find that really impossible since there was still only 1 table occupied. If customers are taken care of like that, you shouldn't be surprised that the guests don't come back.... We then left........ I can't recommend it......

We ate at Altwirt twice during our vacation with our grandchildren. Can only recommend the beautifully furnished inn and beer garden. Friendly staff, large selection of food and drinks, (still) acceptable prices, good food. We'd love to come back.

Rich breakfast and delicious dinner, depending on the weather, in the beer garden or restaurant. The location is perfect as a starting point for many excursions. Price/performance ratio very good. Ich muss der vorherigen Bewertung leider zustimmen. Der Service war nett und die Gaststube ist gemütlich, das Essen jedoch eher dürftig. Unsere Bratkartoffeln waren lasch und matschig und die Katalanische Creme weit von dem entfernt, was man unter einer solchen versteht, nämlich einfach nur eine Vanillecreme mit Karamellsauce und einem Haufen Sprühsahne on top. Auch der Apfelstrudel schmeckte und sah aus wie aus der Packung geholt und in die Mikrowelle geschoben. Insgesamt war das Essen den Preis nicht wert.

We went to “Der Altwirt” for dinner several times. The quality of the food was very good. The menu is very limited, but very varied due to the daily change. The regional dishes in particular are great and, from a northern German’s perspective, highly recommended. The service staff, with the exception of a friendly "Grantler", were always friendly and accommodating. You feel valued as a customer. Thank you very much, you sweetened our vacation in Lenggries!

Great location and delicious food! We were there for lunch on a Saturday lunchtime. The price-performance is great. We had schnitzel Viennese style. These were very tasty. The two young girls (waitress) were also nice. We can't say anything about the hotel.

Good service. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty.

The food was good, but the service, oh well. The girl was great, as you would hope. However, the slightly stronger gentleman doesn't really feel like having guests. A sunny spot in the beer garden was rejected. Instead, you were abruptly placed at a table in the shade next to other guests. It doesn't work that way at all. It would have been good with kind words and a short explanation, but like that. Especially after a short time later, regular guests arrived and were warmly greeted and seated in the sun.

We ate there almost every evening for two weeks at the beginning of June. Good menu with changing dishes, there was always something. Always tasted good. The service team is very nice and accommodating. We are already looking forward to the next visit. 👍😍

Today we went to the Altwirt for dinner again after a long time. The pork crust roast was really tasty and the crust was nice and crispy too. The price/performance ratio is right. The staff courteous and friendly. We'd love to come back!

We didn't stay at the hotel but went to their restaurant for two night and the food was so so so good and the service was super friendly! The atmosphere was really cosy and traditional, everyone was smiley and we would happily go again! Recommended!

A place of comfort. The rooms are a bit older but clean and big enough. The dining rooms are rustic, the staff are friendly and the food is great. What more do you want.

So of all the restaurants visited in Lenggries in the last 14 days, it was by far the most modest. Even the dumplings didn't taste good and were cold inside. I've never experienced it before. In response to the criticism, after 15 minutes there was an equally unsightly dumpling. So: Shoemaker, stick to your lasts.

We have been to the Altwirt several times over the last 15 years. Two or four. This year we will also be there for three or four days in spring and autumn. Very pleasant house in typical Bay style. Very suitable for a few days, for example for hiking. Rooms are a bit old. But the service and food are really good. Great beer garden. Price performance ratio is good!!
