We ate there with 16 people. Drinks and food arrived promptly. Only at the end did we have to ask for our second drink order three times. Otherwise, the service was super nice and friendly! The price/performance ratio is good. Photo: The Speckige (baked sandwich)

The herring dish gets 3.7 out of 5 stars. Very well done, but it could have been more flavorful, and the salad was dressed with raspberries; vinegar and oil would have been sufficient. The price/performance ratio was definitely good at €15.

Very good food and good service

This was our second time here, and both times it was very good. Nice place, funny, friendly waiter (an older gentleman).

We've been sitting at the table for 20 minutes. No one is taking our order. Only students or interns work here. A disaster.

It was a wonderful and very entertaining evening, thanks to Theo, the restaurant manager at the Hoflokal. He served us food and drinks with wit and humor and was always open to our requests. He even recommended a card game. A big thank you to Theo, we'll be back soon!

A beautiful and cozy courtyard restaurant. The warm drinks were delicious and the prices were reasonable. On quiet days, there's a sign at the entrance saying that guests will be shown to their seats. If the number of guests in the restaurant is less than five, this sign should be removed. Nobody wants to wait outside for staff in bad weather. The sign makes sense when the restaurant is busy, but please not when the restaurant is empty. There needs to be enough service to justify removing this sign.

A beautiful and manageable establishment. The food is also sensational. In addition to the nearly perfect aspects mentioned above, the service blew me away... The waiter, Nikita Grundentaler, served me impeccably and impressed me with his confident and charming demeanor.

Unfortunately, I can't give it a good review. The service was spotty, and glasses remained empty until the bill arrived. The food was lukewarm and tiny for the price.

We were very dissatisfied. We had to wait a very long time for our food; the burger was too salty and overcooked, the vegetables were oily, and the medallions were dry.

We have been to the farm restaurant several times over the last few years. We still really like the ambience and the brunch. You can sit very nicely both inside and outside. At brunch there is a larger selection of delicious food and drinks. However, the “regular” food and service have suffered badly over time. The rather high prices no longer really reflect the quality of the food. The service, especially when it gets a little busier, is quickly overwhelmed and sometimes simply unfriendly. It all takes a very, very long time and, depending on who is serving, you are then given a careless “breakfast”. That's a shame because the farm restaurant is otherwise a good restaurant.

We've been here for breakfast for the fourth time at Easter and this year with our 1-month-old offspring. Be sure to reserve a table in advance. The staff are all friendly and very helpful. What you don't see in the photos; There is a self-service waffle iron, plus cream and sprinkles. Great for children. The fully automatic coffee machine tastes great and has a good selection, see photo. Great parking through the zoo and enough space in the restaurant with strollers. At 27.50 per person it's a bit more expensive but we think it's okay for the ambience and what you get. You don't go there every week. Everything else can be seen in the photos.

I have to agree with the negative reviews. The burger is one of the worst things I've eaten under the name bland. Rock hard patty, limp bun, tasteless sauce and the coleslaw. Please send the cake crew to the USA for 2 weeks to train. In addition, the prices are really steep. 9.90 for a portion of fries, 20 euros for the burger. These are the prices you normally pay in good burger shops. 1.30 extra for oat milk instead of normal...

The food was excellent, the staff friendly and attentive, and the decor was very tasteful. However, the prices seemed a bit high to me. Next time I visit I will bring my own food.

Service was very friendly and quick! The turnip soup was totally over salted and tasted like ready-made broth. The fries have recently come without the delicious dip and simply don't taste as good as they used to. The quality has decreased. Prices are simply too high for that. It's a shame...Unfortunately we won't be eating there anymore

Soooo…. Cons: - Food didn't come together. We were 6 adults and 2 children and when everything comes separately it is so annoying and uncomfortable. - 3 adults had burgers and it was terrible. Very dry meat (fried to death) and dry bun for €20 per person 😭 all three burgers were returned. But during that time you watch the others eat 😩 - The operation took a lot of getting used to. I think it was all supposed to be a little sarcastic and funny, but personally I found it rude, impatient and annoyed 😒 Per: - Nice ambience - Food was exchanged straight away and it was significantly better afterwards. After that, the service was friendlier. Summary: please read reviews before visiting, it's worth it. I should have done that 😅 they don't come from anywhere.

Unfortunately only 2 stars. Ambiance is cozy. Unfortunately, the dishes were not satisfactory, despite the prices. The service is a poor combination of employees who can't even communicate properly with each other. You feel like a burden in the restaurant.

Directly at Hanover Zoo. An old stable building was converted and given new life with the restaurant. Very good quality of food and very creatively implemented.

Traditionell kehren wir nach einem tollen WinterZooTag in das Hoflokal ein. 🍽️😋☕️ Sofern vorher kein Tisch reserviert ist, wird "alles möglich gemacht", doch diesmal hatten wir zuvor problemlos online gebucht und somit einen schönen Tisch gemütlich in der Ecke. Mit 8 Erwachsenen & 5 Kindern ist Trubel vorprogrammiert, doch das macht den "sturmerprobten" Mitarbeiter*innen des Hoflokals scheinbar überhaupt nichts aus: Der Service war prima, die "große Portion Pommes" war extrafein und kaum schaffbar, die Kindermenüs kamen gut an und der Apfelstrudel war👌! Danke für den gelungenen Abschluss unseres schönen ZooTages! Dörte mit "family & friends"😉

We had a delicious meal in the courtyard restaurant today after visiting the zoo. Pumpkin soup, kale noodles and veggie burgers. All the dishes were very tasty and were already marked on the menu as vegetarian or vegan. That was great. We were assigned a quiet place where our dog could lie comfortably at the table. Super nice and friendly service, very attentive. We really liked it here, thank you.

Wir haben alle sehr leckere Gerichte gehabt und auch in einer guten Portion. Hamburger, Kalbsschnitzel, Bratwurst mit kartoffelstampf und rotkohl und ofenkartoffel mit hahnchenstreifen Alles mega 😋 Schnell zubereitet und super freundliches Personal.

Yesterday, on Christmas Day, we had dinner with four people in the courtyard restaurant and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The service was friendly and responded flexibly to special requests. The food (3x goose with red cabbage and dumplings, 1x red cabbage with dumplings and a vegan sauce) was quickly brought to the table and we all enjoyed it very much. We have rarely eaten such good red cabbage in a restaurant. All in all, we would definitely come back at any time!

The Christmas goose for outside the house was great! Everything was deliciously seasoned and neatly packaged. From ordering on the website to delivering on time - it was super organized. Gladly again!

The ambience was very nice and the staff was friendly. However, the food leaves a lot to be desired. The pumpkin cream soup was totally watery and way too salty, not tasty at all. The fries tasted very good, but they could have saved a little on the salt. Overall, I would give the farm restaurant 3 stars. I won't go there again. Tasty food is simply essential!!

Das Essen war wirklich schlecht. Grünkohl trocken und aus der Mikrowelle. Kürbissuppe ohne Geschmack. Kalbsschnitzel aus der Friteuse tot frittiert. Einzig die Burger der Kinder waren iO.

Food is way too expensive. Spending over 40 euros for a small steak with a handful of fries and salad and not even getting full. Ambiance is fine. But for the price I expect more

Not worth a star anyway. I've already eaten there three times... unintentionally due to birthdays and Christmas parties. All three times it was a horror. The food doesn't taste good at all and to top it off, on the last visit I waited over an hour for the food and had long hair in it. The waiters apologized and tried hard... but apart from exchanging the food, we were not offered any compensation.

The ambience is quite nice, but also very loud since everything is in one room. The service was good. Unfortunately I can confirm the other bad reviews. My burger meat was a hard meatball and all my colleagues who had the burger felt sick or had to throw up. This doesn't seem to be an isolated case and the health department should urgently check it out. In addition, the food and drinks are significantly too expensive for the quality. Price-performance ratio is not right here!

Reservation for company event not possible because there was no response. Anyone who expects an ice rink when curling will be disappointed.

The food wasn't good. Steak completely hard, red wine sauce inedible (ketchup or something similar in it). It's just a shame given the prices. One expects more.

The ambience is very nice, but the service sometimes seems a bit abrupt. My veal schnitzel was too thick and not sautéed. It seemed more fried than fried. It's actually not typical for such a more expensive piece of meat. There was no salt and pepper. The breading was not airy at all. This place is really just OK and nothing more

Ambience very nice, service but lackluster and rather mediocre. Food was catastrophic: noodles were totally soft and spongy (kept warm?), pumpkin soup was extremely salty, only tasted like broth (flavor enhancer?), pumpkin could only be glimpsed, overall not edible! Food for the children was ok, the usual convenience stuff, nuggets etc., prices were very high. They may be able to do other dishes better(??), but we won't risk it. Too bad. Coffee ok.

First visit to the zoo since Expo 2000 or even earlier. I often went there with my children back then, and today it is still a go-to place for those who don't just want to eat fries. The price level is naturally a little more upscale than the simpler restaurants, but not high. Extensive menu with food and drinks in all directions. The choice of seating is not free, but the restaurant makes every effort to seat guests. But you are quick and very customer-oriented. I found the staff to be very hard working and extremely attentive. Children quickly get something to paint and are automatically served faster. I was very!!! satisfied. 8 out of 5 points. Ich gebe für gutes Essen gerne mein Geld aus. Aber: Das Hoflokal im Zoo ist eine absolute Zumutung! ! Ich hatte ein steinhartes Schweine-Schnitzel, das man kaum beißen konnte.(19,40)€ Dazu die Hoflokal-Fritten. Die waren das einzige, was geschmeckt hat. Etwas mieses Ofen-Gemüse dazu ( kleinste Portion für 6,40€) und on top noch Fertigsosse mit Pilzen für 4,20€.Ich habe 30,00.für dieses katastrophale Essen bezahlt!! Alles ist komplett überteuert und das Preis/Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt überhaupt nicht. Der Service war ok. Fazit: Die reinste Abzocke! Nie wieder!! P.S. Kürzlich hab ich in der Speiserei ein köstliches Kalbsschnitzel! mit leckeren Bratkartoffeln und Gurkensalat für 24,90€ gegessen. So funktioniert ein gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis!!!

Waren heute zum Frühstücksbuffet im Hoflokal und sehr zufrieden. Toller Service Rührei auf Wunsch mit Nürnberger/Speck frisch zubereitet. Das Buffet (viele regionale Produkte) ließ bei uns kein Wunsch offen. Tolle Qualität rechtfertigt noch dazu mit sämtlichen Kaffeespezialitäten den Preis, empfehlenswert 👍👍👍

The waitress was annoying and rude when we asked her if we could sit wherever we wanted. My wife and son got the flank steak and were more than disappointed for over €26! The steak was like bubble gum and tasted like it came from a young bull! But my noodles bolo and the other son's schnitzel were great!

After a long day at the zoo, we ended the day with dinner. Food and drinks are a little more expensive, but freshly prepared and of good quality. The furnishings in the style of a country inn are thematically appropriate for the zoo and the area in which it is located. The service staff is quick, friendly and always concerned about the well-being of the guest. The restaurant can also be visited without zoo admission.

The beautiful day at the zoo yesterday had a bad aftertaste last night. We ate here during our visit to the zoo - my husband had the bratwurst snail with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut, I had the bratwurst snail hamburger, only the daughter had fish fingers with fries - she didn't vomit afterwards either. While eating, my husband and I noticed the bad taste of the sausage and the slimy nature of the sauerkraut - thank God we only ate half of the sausage - the rest ended up with our dogs. There's no question that the sausage has already celebrated its birthday and the sauerkraut has definitely had better days....Disgusting! In waiting Sinnne the night was bad. .... and we vomited too - We should have read the review before the visit - next time we'll eat out, as 65 euros is really outrageous for such quality.

lovely old building - take Jack with you. Food great quality. Price/performance ok. But someone must have made a typo when writing the menu for the drinks. A wheat for €6.90 is unacceptable. A typical case of greed inflation. These are the prices of mountain huts where the goods have to be flown in by helicopter... that's not possible!

As tourists, we wanted to take advantage of the zoo's after-work rate and since there was still some time before entry, the restaurant around the corner was recommended to us. There were probably school commencement ceremonies that day. In any case, it was well attended. We stood at the entrance for a relatively long time until a gentleman gave us a table. We told him that we just wanted something to drink and had the feeling that he would have liked to sit us outside. When no one came to take our order, my husband went to the counter and asked if we could order drinks here. The answer: "If there aren't too many, yes, what do they want?" OK! No 3 drinks After spritzer was served instead of juice, we really thought we were somehow in the wrong place. Our 3 quickly tipped behind!!!!!! Drinks. We paid almost 20 euros for it. Hmm...unfortunately not justified in our opinion and definitely unaffordable for families who might stop there briefly before or after visiting the zoo. In terms of appearance, the location otherwise made a good impression.

Es ist ja so eine Sache mit Lokalitäten innerhalb geschlossener Systeme (hier: Zoo Hannover): Die Kunden kommen allein aufgrund des Veranstaltungsortes und haben ggf. nur ein geringes oder mittleres Wiederkehrpotential. Sowohl in der Kundenorientierung, als auch in der Qualität und insbesondere auch bei den Preisen spürt man beim Hoflokal dieses Umstand (obwohl man das Hoflokal auch ausserhalb eines Zoobesuches besuchen kann, soviel ich weiss ). Das Ambiente insbesondere draussen ist sehr ansprechend und man sitzt sehr schön. Plätze werden nur durch das Personal vergeben ("Wait to be seated"), klappt einigermaßen aber Nachfragen mussten wir schon, bis endlich mal einer kam. Die Auswahl der Gerichte ist ganz ordentlich ... die Qualität bei uns allerdings sehr überschaubar. Die mit 16.90 völlig überteuerte Currywurst war irgendwie seltsam. Die Hauspommes (eher frittierte Kartoffelscheiben als Pommes) bilden da die Ausnahme. Die waren sehr ok, lecker gewürzt und schön heiss. Die Wurst hatte eine für eine CW sehr untypische Konsitenz, fast wie eine Bockwurst. Kann man mögen ... ich mochte es nicht. Das Patty beim Burger meiner Frau war viel zu mächtig und dickes Pressfleisch, steinhart und völlig durchgebraten. Den entsprechenden Hinweis von uns hat der freundliche und auch flinke Kellner professionell entgegengenommen, an die Küche weitergeleitet und uns anschl. nochmal von einem "Versehen" berichtet. Ein kleiner Espresso als Entschädigung wäre vielleicht ganz nett gewesen ... auf die Idee kamen sie aber hier nicht. Der Burger war insgesamt auch sehr lieblos zubereitet und wenig kreativ belegt. Bei 19.90 kann man einfach mehr erwarten. 6.90 für 0.5l Bier setzen die Liste der überteuerten Preise fort. Bei allen Probleme und Verständnis, die die Gastrobranche ggf. zu Zeit hat ... hier wurden meine Akzeptanz-Grenzen dann doch überschritten. Fazit: Hoflokal lieber nicht nochmal.

The waitress didn't allow us to sit in the beer garden because the restaurant was closed for lunch. When we asked if we could sit in the seats and feed our 1-year-old daughter, we were also turned away. We could sit on benches in the sun 20 meters away. There were other guests in the beer garden. When she pointed this out, she said they had been there since breakfast. It's a restaurant where you can't just sit there without ordering. But you can't order because it's lunch break. Narrow-minded insistence on unnecessary regulations, family-friendly behavior. At the zoo.

6.90 euros for half a liter of beer. Shame on you!!!

We were impressed by the farm restaurant in Hanover, near the zoo. We were there for an event and had the buffet which had a variety of fresh and delicious food. One of our own creations, a punch, was particularly delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. Overall a great experience that I can only recommend.

I ate a currywurst with farm fries there, which was really delicious. The employee who served us was very friendly and made all of our extra requests possible. I really liked it and I'll definitely come back.

We spontaneously wanted to have dinner with seven people and - after a long wait until someone came to seat us - we were asked to go in - the weather was beautiful and there were 50% free seats outside. We politely declined and then made the sales elsewhere. The waitresses preferred to chat afterwards… Incredibly bad service and 2.5 hours before the restaurant closed.

Ambience okay, but after almost 20 minutes and 6 “passes” of service, I preferred to leave after a quick drink. The wrong drink was then served and my complaint was ignored. In addition, according to the menu, an excessive price was charged.

Unfreundlichens Personal, draußen viele Plätze frei, trotzdem bot man uns (7 Pers.), nachdem man uns längere Zeit am Eingang warten ließ , obwohl 3 Bedienungen nur herumstanden, ohne nähere Erklärung nur Plätze drinnen an, bei bestem Wetter. Auf Nachfrage genervtes Schnauben und wortgleiche Wiederholung der ersten Antwort. Unhöflich, offensichtliches Desinteresse an Kunden. Wir sind gegangen.

Nice atmosphere in what I think is one of the most beautiful zoos in Germany. Great menu, imaginative dishes BUT The service was an imposition - arrogant - unfortunately. Coffee was served lukewarm. When asked why the crumble takes so long, the answer was, it takes 15 minutes. We didn't know - he said it was on the menu and whether I didn't know how long it took to bake a crumble. No, it wasn't on the sign that was outside. I'm not usually picky, but the sound makes the music and unfortunately the crumble was more like fruit with three crumbs on top. That's why only so few stars, sorry.

Reserved in advance via OpenTable. Had beef burgers with the incredibly delicious special fries. A mixture of fried potatoes and fries. Crispy on the outside, potato-like on the inside. The herb dip with it - wonderful. The burger meat is generally cooked through (because of the heat?). Medium was not possible. Burgers very tasty. Everything was plentiful and very filling. The beer punch could have used a little more fruit. Ambience is good. Sitting outside when the weather is good - wonderful! Seat cushions for the hard wooden chairs would be great! Staff is very friendly, small talk and congratulations on the special day if stated when making the reservation. The prices are quite high, yes, but (almost) everything is locally grown. The cuisine is fantastic, always something new and has already won awards. If you have parked in the zoo's parking garage, give the parking card to staff to validate. If you were a guest at the farm restaurant and parked there specifically for that reason, your ticket will be cleared for the exit.

Full marks, more than that! Super friendly staff, always concerned about the well-being of the guest! Had a burger with fries, it was very quick and tasted great! Thanks!

Hier lohnt sich eine Pause beim Zoobesuch auf jeden Fall!

Schönes Ambiente und ein sehr freundlicher und zuvorkommender Service. Das Frühstücksbüffet war vielseitig und alles war sehr lecker. Besonders mochten wir den selbstgemachten Kirsch-Eistee. Nicht zu süß und herrlich erfrischend. Der Preis mag hoch erscheinen, aber Kaffee und Eistee sind inbegriffen und alles hatte eine gute Qualität. Im Großen und Ganzen also „ preiswert“.

Lovely setting: you can dine in the garden basically set inside Hannover zoo (the restaurant is accessible without having to enter the zoo itself). Super-relaxed, family-friendly (as you would expect) with good quality food (with a focus on local produce) and even the odd organic wine on their menu.

Tolles Frühstücksbuffet, ich würde mir noch gekochte Eier oder Spiegeleier wünschen und eine bessere Beschriftung der Lebensmittel (was ist was), ansonsten viele Leckereien zum ausprobieren.

The dinner before our nighttime zoo hike was delicious.

At the end we had a drink in the courtyard restaurant. Of course I couldn't pass up the rhubarb cheesecake. The drinks were very refreshing (homemade lemonade and iced tea). The fact that the water could be refilled free of charge is also a big plus. The cheesecake in a glass with rhubarb compote was a dream. The floor isn't my thing, but that's a matter of taste.

Der Laden hat ein sehr schönes Bauerhofambiente im gehobenen Stil. Freundliches Personal und besticht durch eine Fusion aus modernem Chić und Bauernhöflicher Gemütlichkeit. Das Essen ist leider meist eher durchschnittlich. Ich hatte ein Rindersteak (200g) was qualitativ recht gut war, jedoch wurde hier nicht nach dem Garpunkt gefragt. Als beilage wurden Pommes angeboten. Als ich nach Bratkartoffeln fragte wurden die mir gegen aufpreis gewährt, jedoch wurden diese im Airfryer zubereitet wodurch sie exact wie pommes schmeckten und auch so knusprig waren. Die schmeckten zwar gut aber Bratkartoffeln kenne ich anders. Das fleisch kostete dann noch fast 30€ bei 200 gram. Das ist dann schon kein besonderes preis leistungsverhältnis. Die Nudeln waren jedoch gut. Die soße war selbst gemacht und schmeckte sehr gut.

Unfortunately I can't give more than 2 stars. 1 star for the ambience and 1 star for the homemade fries. The burgers were not tasty at all and in my opinion not made with high quality ingredients. But the prices are high... I'm happy to spend the money, but not for such a service. The veggie burger in particular was inedible. That's why we won't eat here again at the zoo!
