The Wiener Schnitzel was okay, the fries a bit too hard and overcooked. The so-called "Flammkuchen DeLuxe" was an outrage; not only was it far too thick, but the dough was still raw. Not recommended!

Schlappeseppel beer is very good, but the food is unfortunately only average – sometimes good, sometimes so-so.

Grösster Biergarten in der Innenstadt von Aschaffenburg. Viele Biersorten, gute Biergartenküche und meist fixes Personal. Innen urige Gaststätte, allerdings vollbesetzt sehr laut. Eines der letzten "echten Wirthäuser" in AB und klare Alternative wenn man sich im Schlappeseppel über das Faustbier wundert.

Beautiful regional inn with a pleasant ambience, good food and large portions

I was torn between a schnitzel and a Cordon Bleu, but ended up choosing the latter. And it was absolutely delicious, a whole piece of meat. More than enough after finishing my plate. As a single person, I was allowed to sit at a communal table, which was also quite nice.

The food here used to be very delicious. I was looking forward to the fried potatoes. Unfortunately, they're now a kind of roasted boiled potatoes with little flavor. The boiled beef is just dry, and the green sauce is obviously from a supermarket. Unfortunately, the food has deteriorated considerably.

So: Grie Soß – a typical dish from Frankfurt (Oberrad) – is also available in Lower Franconia. So I ordered it and was disappointed. The fried potatoes had only briefly seen the pan, were greasy, and almost inedible. The pair of eggs were ice-cold and hard. And the Grie Soß was a disappointment. You can't taste the seven herbs and there's hardly any green in them. It's been stretched with quark, for example. Is it homemade?! It's a real shame, even though it's a great and simple dish. The staff is great, the location is fantastic...

The food was okay... The knuckle was pale, bland in flavor, the rind was soft, and the sauce was more like a convenience store. The spaetzle was also just okay, and the sauce was thick. Anyone can make that better at home. But there were some positives, too. The Augustiner on tap was good.

We visited the Hogarten and were thrilled. The food was truly outstanding, and the beer menu left nothing to be desired. The atmosphere in the beer garden is very cozy; just remember to bring something warm in case the sun is already low in the sky. A must for anyone who appreciates good food and beer in a great setting!

Today's visit was very disappointing. The food didn't taste the same as before, and there was a black plastic thread in my dish. The service was very inconsistent: The employee inside serving drinks was noticeably clumsy. One employee, however, was particularly negative, and he cheekily retorted to me: "If you can't see, you should put on your glasses."

The Hofgarten was previously known to me for its friendly and fast service – unfortunately, not this time. We were seated inside, where we initially had to wait about 10 minutes before a waiter even appeared. The greeting was uninviting: the menus were more like tossed at us than handed to us. After our drinks, another 15 minutes passed before our food order was taken – only after I actively inquired whether service was even available inside. The food arrived promptly, but the overall impression was disappointing. If the inside area isn't going to be used, it would be better to keep it closed instead of serving guests there with such a lack of attention.

I've been to the Hofgarten several times in the past and have always been quite satisfied – but what we were served today was, unfortunately, the lowest of the low. We initially ordered Tafelspitz (boiled beef) – what arrived was a strange-smelling, completely dry piece of meat that resembled neither Tafelspitz nor its texture. More like a shoe sole. We sent the dish back. As an alternative, we were served Sauerbraten (sauerbraten) – unfortunately, exactly the same: inedibly tough meat, no flavor at all, overcooked to the point of dryness. The dumplings were okay, and so was the red cabbage, but unfortunately, that didn't make up for it. I don't know who was in the kitchen today – but it was definitely not the standard you'd expect from the Hofgarten. Very disappointing. I hope that was an exception, because at this point, I unfortunately can't recommend the visit.

Never again. We were a group of 10 sitting in the back of the beer garden. When I tried to order Spätzle, the waitress said it’s only available in the front section and she couldn’t serve it. I was sent to three different staff members, all of whom refused to help unless I changed tables—which wasn’t possible since our group had already ordered. No signs or info about this strange rule. The food we got was just okay. Service was awful. There are much better beer gardens in Aschaffenburg—go to one of them instead.

Delicious German cuisine with a wide selection! I had the Schäufle last time, and I highly recommend it for anyone with a big appetite! The portions and prices are reasonably priced and make you want more! The beer garden is always very busy, but you can usually always find a spot. If necessary, you can sit with others or wait a while! Definitely recommend it!

We came here on a recommendation. Unfortunately, it's a commercial kitchen. The pork knuckle was available... The green sauce was high in sugar, probably from a packet. The carrots and carrot salad were definitely store-bought. Lots of sugar. The lentil stew was at least vegan. But the taste wasn't great either. And the service was unfriendly. It won't be our new favorite restaurant!

Unfortunately not! If you want a drink, it's more than okay, but the food is so-so!

Mass processing. We ordered schäefele (extremely dry edges and corners. The rind was inedible, also prepared ages ago and dried out) with dumplings (which were great) and Käsespetzle (which was okay). The service was nice, but they were only there for ordering and paying.

Nice location, friendly service, but the food was unfortunately awful. Just convenience food. The veal boiled beef tasted like it had been sitting around for two days, and the fried potatoes were cooked in stale (or cold-pressed) oil and tasted incredibly weird. You can't really offer that for money.

Beer wasn't poured all the way up, green sauce was a disaster... nothing to do with green sauce! Fries were still soft and soaked with grease! Unfortunately, even after complaining, we didn't get a better deal! Too bad, we remembered the Hofgarten as better!

Everything went well. In this beer garden, your order is taken by a server, and delivery is also handled. It worked excellently. The food was also really tasty. The benches and tables were certainly of high quality, but they were very close together.

Once again in the Hofgarten. Great! It couldn't have been better. Sure, it was only 6 p.m., but we immediately got a table for two. Then we were told they had Augustiner Maibock on tap...and fresh Schäufela (pork shoulder). What more could a Franconian want? The Bock (pork shoulder) was delicious, the Schäufela (pork shoulder) fresh from the oven, substantial and tender, with sauerkraut and the two dumplings: a poem. "Dumplings and sauce...nothing else," Franconians like to say, but here the Schäufela (pork shoulder) was the star 🌟

Very delicious drinks and food. The Hofgarten Wirtshaus has a wide selection, catering to every taste. The service is friendly and fast. During peak season, starting in May, reservations are no longer available: first come, first served. We return there again and again with family and friends.

We went there for dinner today. Everything was simply fantastic, from start to finish. We had the Ursau chop and Schäufele, which I highly recommend. The service was very attentive and friendly! We sat inside and felt really comfortable. It was actually quite loud in the beer garden, but I think that's normal. All I can say is, if you haven't been there yet, you're missing out. 100% recommendation.👍👍 Best, W.D.

I've really never experienced anything like that... just sucks from start to finish. You have to wait at the entrance to the beer garden to be assigned a seat, so it's ok if you then have to wait until someone comes to assign you that seat and then you're just told succinctly: sit down somewhere...well, we could have done that without an usher. After a while the card came to the table, the service left in a hurry, we couldn't order any drinks... at some point the lady came to take the order... the request to have fried potatoes instead of dumplings was met with "let's see if I can manage to tell the kitchen, if not, don't"... then you feel like leaving... beer arrived, filled well below the mark... that's how you can also make money... that Water bottle was dirty (see picture). Well, overlooked that and didn't say anything...then the knuckle came...with dumplings...said we wanted it with fried potatoes, served, the waiter turned away without a word and brought back the plate without dumplings and a bowl of fried potatoes...sauce was now cold and the grill only saw the knuckle in passing...the tartare was subterranean...totally gray inside. I complained about it and was told "it's just raw meat"...yes, but old raw meat. I then had to pay for the garbage and politely asked the lady "sorry" and really, the old woman rolled her eyes... my son and I were subtly stunned by this behavior towards guests. The only positive thing was that the tartare wasn't charged and I was spared this discussion.

If the inventor of Bavarian beer gardens, Max 1., had to eat meatballs, the daily special, he would have rolled over in his grave. I have never seen such a pale interior of a meatball. Looked like they were made from meat substitute. The whole thing was covered with a brown ready-made sauce and came to the table lukewarm. The salad plate that came with it was ok. My wife was happy with her dish, green sauce with fried eggs.

Ambiance okay and guests very nice. BUT... Service and food borderline subpar! Well, at least I was served at some point and the food didn't upset my stomach. But otherwise... Oh dear. Is there really no German pub or brewery in Aschaffenburg that can convince with price/performance? Third attempt, third disappointment. Before Biersepp and the other one there. Unfortunately, the bottom line was that they were all nothing. By the way, Biersepp has critical reviews (in my case 3 out of 5 stars) deleted on the pretext of defamation. So be careful.

It’s a good little restaurant, or rather a good little tavern, perfect for drinking a foam without pressure (or with it depending on your taste). The food will allow some to mop up, the ogres to be satisfied and the pigs to enjoy themselves. Either way, it's a real good time place (and the veranda is superb)

I ate a currywurst made from veal, which was very slightly grilled and the skin was very soft. My friend's knuckle was tasteless, ready-made sauce. I was asked if it was tasty, I said well, then he walked away without asking why. The waitress asked again and we said it wasn't good. She passes it on but was friendly.

Had the schnitzel - as you do - and it didn't disappoint. Lively atmosphere and very authentic ambience. Full of locals. This is the kind of place you come to, eat, drink and then want to sleep. Rustic restaurant with a great beer garden. Delicious food is served in a friendly manner. Afterwards you can go for a walk in the park, which is right behind.

The food was better. The portions are getting smaller and smaller. I have the impression that the quality of the food is saved (defrost, heat and put on the plate). The ambience inside and outside is great. Service: So, when I come into a restaurant, it's normal for a guest to at least receive a "Good evening," but please not a "yes, please" greeting. When I reserve a table, I should assume that it is clean and that the edges of the beer from the previous person are not still visible. There should also be enough cutlery and napkins. What do I actually reserve for???? Dear owner, I completely understand if I have to wait longer for food and drinks because the restaurant is full, but please, the quality of the food should not suffer. After all, you want us to come back and be recommended to others. Please never forget, the guest brings the money 💰.

Rustic Bavarian inn with a very good price/performance ratio. In addition to Bavarian dishes, there are also pizzas, salads and Schlappe Seppel (regional beer - also drinkable as Pils for non-Bavarians). In summer there is also a large outdoor area with a view of the park. For people with walking difficulties - parking directly in front of it is difficult, a few steps should be possible. The restaurant is very popular among locals. It's not a mistake to make a reservation, even if you try very hard to accommodate unannounced people.

I always enjoy going to the Hofgarten. The food was very good again (although the sauce could have had a little more power and taste). Augustiner on tap is of course delicious as always. It is time that spring comes, because in the beer garden it is also very nice.

The two of us had dinner in the Hofgarten. The food was good and the service was quick. However, when we paid we didn't notice that 4 export beers were overcharged (€18.00). Rating will of course be adjusted if there is an error.

I was there for my employer's end-of-year party. We were placed in the covered outdoor area with a good 40 people. There were about 6 electric heaters attached to the wall on the left side of the building that were running at the highest level. (Because the tables were positioned diagonally, one half of your body almost got sunburned, the other half was cold) Soup was well seasoned, my Schäufele was quite tasteless. The service staff tried hard I had to have my second drink 3 times Ordered until I finally got it after over 30 minutes. I will not and cannot visit this restaurant a second time Don't recommend them either.

No longer recommended. The food was better before. The sauce was watery, the cream schnitzel wasn't as tender as before and the spaetzle was sticky and slightly burnt. You can completely forget the atmosphere because it is so loud in the restaurant and outside in the winter tents that you can no longer understand the person you are talking to. In general, the feeling on site is more like that of a football stadium with hooligans. In between, drunk guests at the neighboring tables shout extremely loudly in the restaurant. The staff doesn't care. We will definitely avoid this former restaurant and eat elsewhere for these prices. The review refers to December 30, 2024 around 8 p.m.

Fast service. Rustic tavern atmosphere. I am a vegetarian and ate the lentil dish with savoy cabbage vegetables. The vegetables were a mess. The lentils were rather edible. The spaetzle lukewarm. I would describe the food as bad. But, as I said, I'm a vegetarian.

Everything runs like clockwork here. Service is great, the food is very good and a nice atmosphere.

If you like it quaint, rustic and cozy, this is the place for you. It gets a little loud when the cards fly at the next table and another round of cuts is ordered... Great feel-good factor and of course a top beer garden in summer. You can always find parking spaces in the immediate vicinity.

Unfortunately there was no more "space" as you had to reserve in advance, which I also wanted to do by phone. I was told there that you can no longer make reservations, but that places are being kept free for walk-in customers. When we arrived there were at least 3 tables available, but we were told that none were available and that you could only get a seat with a reservation. Very unfortunate :(

Very arrogant staff. Calls by telephone are consistently ignored. You should reserve online. Tarte flambée and pizza are apparently frozen goods and absolutely not recommended! The kitchen closes before 9:30 p.m. and that's why you can only offer pizza or tarte flambée.

The ambience and service are simply top. The waitresses were all very friendly and accommodating. After our son (1 year old) didn't want any of the food, they even warmed us a glass, which is certainly not something that is taken for granted everywhere. The food was delicious, we would definitely go there again, and the price was right too. It's not exceptionally good food, hence 1 star deduction. But there is nothing to complain about.

I’ve been here lots of times over many years visiting from Scotland and always had a good experience. Food is excellent - Haxn was huge! Plenty of top beers and usually some live music. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, rustic, historic restaurant with a partly covered, beautiful beer garden. Service was extremely attentive, courteous and friendly. The menu leaves nothing to be desired. From traditional German and regional dishes, various salads and a selection of different vegetarian dishes, there is definitely something for everyone. It's really worth a visit and all at reasonable prices.

Durchaus eine urige Gaststätte mit Biergartenflair.Schnörkellos und zackig bekommt man seinen Platz zugewiesen,sogar wenn man Glück hat ohne vorherige Reservierung.Es geht laut zu ,aber das ist ja gerade das besondere an so einem Wirtshaus.Das Bier ist köstlich,die Speisekarte ist umfangreich.Wir hatten alle ein Essen mit Bratkartoffeln gewählt,was wir dann auf dem Teller vorfanden waren kleine Kartoffeln mit Schale , irgendwie vorgegart ohne jegliche Röstaromen,einer Diätküche würdig. Trotzdem,alles in allem OK ,wenn man diese Art Gastronomie mag.
