Das Essen war hervorragend – frisch zubereitet, geschmacklich perfekt abgestimmt und mit viel Liebe angerichtet. Man merkt sofort, dass hier auf Qualität und authentische Küche Wert gelegt wird. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir den ausgesprochen freundlichen und herzlichen Service. Man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an willkommen und bestens umsorgt. Auch das gemütliche Ambiente lädt zum Verweilen ein und macht den Restaurantbesuch zu einem rundum gelungenen Erlebnis. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist ebenfalls top. Selten so gut chinesisch gegessen! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und können das Höfchen jedem empfehlen, der authentische chinesische Küche und einen erstklassigen Service schätzt. Eher zufällig entdeckt, der Barbarossaplatz ist sonst eher weniger meine Gegend zum Essen gehen. Sehr freundlicher Empfang, günstiger Mittagstisch inkl. Softdrink und wirklich gutes Essen. Es waren viele Asiaten dort, das spricht für Qualität! Empfehlenswert. Es gibt übrigens Deckenventilatoren. Sehr angenehm bei heißem Wetter und es bringt viel tropisches Ambiente.

Der Geschmack ist sehr authentisch.

Wirklich sehr autentische chinesische Küche in einem schön eingerichteten Lokal. Das Essen war super und der Service auch 1a. Hatte einen perfekten Mittag und kann es nur weiter empfehlen!

Ein echtes Highlight für alle, die authentische chinesische Küche lieben. Die Gerichte waren unglaublich aromatisch, frisch zubereitet und geschmacklich perfekt abgestimmt. Man merkt sofort, dass hier mit traditionellen Rezepten und hochwertigen Zutaten gearbeitet wird. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich die Vielfalt der Gewürze und die liebevolle Präsentation der Speisen. Auch der Service war freundlich, aufmerksam und sehr herzlich. Das Ambiente war angenehm und passend eingerichtet, sodass man sich direkt wohlfühlt. Wer echtes chinesisches Essen abseits von Standard-Gerichten sucht, ist hier genau richtig.

Die Online-Speisekarte ist unübersichtlich und die Beschreibungen sind unklar, oft nicht auf Englisch und Deutsch. Das Essen ist sehr mittelmäßig. Wir waren zweimal dort. Einmal 2023 mit einer Gruppe von 15 Personen. Dieses Mal im März war es noch schlimmer, sodass wir uns zu einer Bewertung veranlasst sehen. Der Service war sehr unprofessionell. Zwei chinesische Kellnerinnen sprachen automatisch Mandarin mit einer unserer asiatischen Kolleginnen und schienen verärgert, als diese nur Englisch und etwas Deutsch mit ihnen sprechen konnte. Das war unangenehm. Wir wurden praktisch aufgefordert zu gehen, als uns eine chinesische Kellnerin um 21:32 Uhr ungefragt die Rechnung überreichte. Ihre Begründung: Alle Angestellten wollten wegen Problemen mit dem Zugfahrplan nach Hause. Das geht die Gäste nichts an! Was ist dann mit uns vier Gästen, die aufgrund von Zugausfällen ebenfalls separat mit Taxi und Fahrrad angereist sind?! Die einzige nicht-chinesische Frau hinter der Bar schaltete um 21:45 Uhr buchstäblich das Hauptlicht ein und aus, um uns „rauszuschmeißen“. Das ist lächerlich. Wir werden dieses Lokal unseren Freunden und Kollegen nicht weiterempfehlen.

Das Essen war super lecker und der Kellner Honore Hat einen sehr guten Service geliefert. Er ist wirklich ein sehr netter Kellner und macht das Restaurant zu einem besseren Restaurant. Ich kann diesen Ort nur empfehlen.

Das Restaurant hat mir wirklich sehr gut gefallen. Es wirkt sehr authentisch und man fühlt sich direkt wohl, sobald man reinkommt. Das Personal war durchgehend sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen war sehr lecker, frisch zubereitet und geschmacklich richtig gut abgestimmt. Man merkt, dass viel Wert auf Qualität gelegt wird und die Gerichte traditionell zubereitet sind. Auch die Auswahl an Speisen ist groß, sodass jeder etwas Passendes findet. Insgesamt war es ein sehr schöner Besuch mit gutem Service und tollem Essen. Ich würde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und kann das Restaurant weiterempfehlen.

Hier geht man am besten mit einer Gruppe hin, sodass alle von allem probieren können, denn es schmeckt wirklich alles enorm gut. Für ein Sichuanesisches Restaurant gibt es auch eine gute Menge an vegetarischen Optionen. Die Portionsgrößen sind üppig, aber für die Preise auch angemessen. Negativpunkt war ehrlicherweise der Service. Bestellt wird über qr Code, was ich nie gut finde aber aufgrund von einfacher Bestellung bei möglicher Sprachbarriere okay finde. Aber es wird sich nicht wirklich für einen interessiert. Da die online Karte (qr Code am Tisch) teilweise nicht übersetzt ist brauchten wir noch eine physische Karte, die wir uns selber geholt haben. Auch sonst war der Service mau. Aber das Essen ist so gut dass ich keine Punkte abziehen möchte. Ambiente und Einrichtung hingegen sind sehr schön. Große gemütliche Holzstühle. Wird auf jeden Fall nochmal aufgesucht.

3x Mittagsangebot bestellt. Knusprige Ente süß sauer mit Reis. Fazit: Ente labbrig und fadig mit Nachgeschmack, unserer Meinung nach keine gute Qualität (helles, wabbeliges Fleisch), Cola nur 0,2 l im Kölschglas und als Vorspeise ein bisschen Grünzeug (4 kleine/mini Möhrenstückchen und 4 kleine/Mini Rettichstückchen) mit süß sauer Sauce statt einer Suppe. Die gesamte Vorspeise passt auf einen Esslöffel. Obwohl zu Anfang Suppenschüsseln auf dem Tisch standen. Leider für mich und einen Freund auch keine Erdnusssauce. Die Süß-Sauer Sauce ist scharf und meine Freundin mag kein scharfes Essen. Die Sauce hat zudem nicht für die Ente und den vielen Reis gereicht. Toiletten leider unsauber. Daher nicht nochmal!

Sehr leckere original chinesische Küche

Super authentische chinesische Küche. Mega geile Gerichte, die man auch nicht jeden Tag sieht. Bestellt wird übers Handy und die nette Dame bringt es Dir an den Tisch. Alle Speisen waren sehr lecker und es gibt immer genügend Reis dazu. Empfehlung!

Wir kamen genau zur Mittagszeit an und waren die einzigen Gäste, daher wurde das Essen sehr schnell serviert. Meine Freundin fand es recht gut; ich persönlich fand es nur mittelmäßig. Das gekochte Rindfleisch war stark mit Stärke angedickt, wodurch die Soße viel zu dickflüssig war. Der Kürbis mit gesalzenem Eigelb war zwar lecker, hatte aber einen leicht fischigen Nachgeschmack. Das scharfe Hähnchen wurde mit entbeinten, gewürfelten Hähnchenteilen anstatt mit Knochen zubereitet. Reis konnte man unbegrenzt nachbestellen. Der Besitzer wirkte etwas distanziert, und der Service war nicht besonders herzlich. Nachdem wir fertig gegessen hatten, wollten wir noch etwas sitzen bleiben und uns unterhalten. Doch der Besitzer begann, den Tisch abzuräumen und vermischte die Reisreste und Knochen aus unseren Schüsseln direkt auf dem Tisch, was uns sehr unangenehm war. Wir gingen schließlich, obwohl es draußen noch regnete. Ich verstehe nicht, warum Küchenabfälle direkt auf dem Tisch eines Gastes sortiert und entsorgt werden.

Unhöflich Bedienung: 17:35 Uhr grad bestellt/ Essen nicht mal angekommen. Dann sollte man Essen und gehen wegen Reservierung! Zum kotzen und werde nicht mehr hingehen

Ein echter Chinese mit klassischen Gerichten. Kein fast food. Für Asia-Fans eine echte Empfehlung.

Hier spricht zwar kaum einer deutsch oder englisch ist aber hier auch total irrelevant sehr leckeres Essen nur zu empfehlen.

Delicious, authentic food. If you're looking for Germanized Chinese food, this is the wrong place. However, if you're looking to discover something new in terms of taste or are simply missing authentic Chinese dishes, this is the place for you. The restaurant is perfect for larger groups; you order different dishes and share everything. A generous portion of rice is served with it. Ordering via the app was a bit complicated, but the friendly staff were happy to help. It was pleasantly quiet, so you could enjoy your meal and chat. Highly recommended.

As a Sichuanese who still eats Sichuan cuisine, I think this restaurant is quite delicious and has the taste of China. However, the food is too salty for my taste. I hope it can be improved.

This Szechuan restaurant in Cologne was truly delicious! The food tastes authentic and is perfectly spicy, the portions are generous, and the service staff is very friendly. There's ample parking – not directly in front of the door, but there are plenty of parking garages nearby. On weekends, it's definitely worth making a reservation. Ordering is easy using the QR code on your phone, including photos – very convenient! A solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – we'll definitely be back!

Great food! I kept thinking about this culinary delight all evening. Very authentic, the waitress barely speaks German, and some of the digital menus have to be translated by hand. However, the taste experience is worth the hurdles. Great food is offered here at a fair price. The portions are generous, and rice is served with every hot dish. Since the restaurant is very popular with Chinese groups, especially during trade fairs, I recommend making reservations 1-2 weeks in advance. I can't recommend sitting outside for two people. I am very grateful for this culinary experience. I will give it 5 stars once the menu has been fully translated.

There are few people at lunch, and it’s delicious. The taste (salt, sugar, spices) is not very heavy, so you don’t feel burdened eating it.

I really love their tofu curd beef and dry pot sausages. They are super delicious. I haven’t forgotten them since I got home. It’s the best Sichuan food I’ve ever eaten in Cologne! ! ! The only drawback is that the waitress felt confused and didn’t know what to answer when she asked questions...she said yes and no at the same time😅

I haven’t eaten here in more than a year, and I thought there would be many new dishes, but it turned out to be the same as the ones from more than a year ago. How can I put it, it felt like it lacked a bit of freshness. Then the food was served very slowly tonight. . . There were three dishes for two people. The second dish took 46 minutes and the last dish took 1 hour and 11 minutes to be served. The people next door who came later than us had several dishes. When I asked the waiter to order the food, the first feedback I got was not an apology, but "I don't dare to rush the chef, you have to wait." But what does the chef’s mood have to do with me? Why should I consider the chef’s mood when cooking? It’s not the first day the restaurant opens. Isn’t it common sense that there will be many people on Saturdays? I can understand, I can wait, and within half an hour is called waiting, but 71 minutes is really too much; not expressing apology is really too much. The last dish, which I had been waiting for for so long, was so salty that it felt like the chef was being pushed into the dish and was in a bad mood to retaliate against me. I lost my appetite at the end of the meal and just packed it away. It was not a pleasant dining experience anyway. But the taro chicken is delicious, recommended

Anyone who enters the Höfchen restaurant should be prepared for a real taste expedition - here they serve authentic Szechuan cuisine that is not for the faint-hearted. Instead of mild compromises, there are flavors that burn deep into the memory. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Cologne. Absolutely recommended!

It can be regarded as my personal favorite Sichuan food in this region. Of course, the spiciness has been reduced a bit, but the adaptability has been increased. Overall, it is still very good. I have tried almost all the dishes, and I won’t be disappointed. They are highly recommended. Foreign friends like Yibin Braised Pork with Bean sprouts and rice very much. The rich taste levels are very representative of Chinese food.

Food very good, but comparatively relatively expensive. Service and ambience was okay. Negative: it's almost a shame that you have to pay extra for rice, but what's not right is that this isn't mentioned anywhere, neither when you order nor at any other time, you only see it afterwards on the bill.

Overall not a nice experience: I found the atmosphere dingy, dirty, there was rubbish on the heater and the window panes were completely dirty. The five of us had a large table at the entrance, which was terribly drafty. Very unfriendly staff who speak virtually no German. Bowls and chopsticks were banged onto the table with a lot of noise, drinks ordered via the app didn't come or only after repeated reminders. Two main courses were placed on the table labeled "beef" - but it was chicken. The QR code concept doesn't work because many dishes are described far too imprecisely. The "Fried Chicken" had mushy potatoes as the main ingredient, the pieces of meat were tiny and cooked rather than fried. One main course was so huge that it would have been enough for 3 people. We ordered two portions of rice and were charged for 5. The food overall wasn't good: one vegetarian main course was ok, the other 4 dishes were just spicy and extremely oily. Diarrhea and nausea occurred in the evening/early morning in 3 out of 5 people! There was only an “interim invoice” as an invoice - without any tax shown?! Also nice: While we were eating, our next table was generously misted with Sagrotan. Unfortunately, I can't understand any of the good reviews and can't recommend this restaurant under any circumstances!

Parking opposite at Rewe, free for the first hour if you buy something there or free on the street on Sundays.

Big request, attention! Always give the tip to the waitresses personally and make sure that the manager of the shop does not take it away from the women immediately!!! Unfortunately, the women do not have access to the tips paid by card; the money goes directly to the boss or owner of the restaurant. The waitresses have told me several times that the boss had asked for the tip given by the customer and taken it away!!! For this reason I didn't want to come here anymore because I don't want to support unfair behavior. The food tastes fantastic here and I don't want the waitresses to be out of work either. But such bosses, or the behavior doesn't work at all!

First of all, after tasting such Chinese food abroad, I still give it a thumbs up 👍 However, from the time when I walked in and sat down to when I paid the bill and went out, the two eldest ladies did not smile the whole time, and they did not come to the table for service or inquiry. We just scanned the QR code to order by ourselves, and a used spoon was given to us on the way to the meal. The children we brought with us needed some hot water, and we were reluctantly told that we needed to order food and be charged. I just want to say that customers bring money to the door to consume, which is not bad. Talking about money is completely inconsistent with the service attitude. When everyone went to eat, the service attitude was the first. I really didn’t want to make a fuss. I only ordered two dishes and didn’t want to add any more, so I hurried away after the meal. Maybe the boss is not short of money, but he hopes you can have some sense of service, and most of them are compatriots. If the service is better, the business must be better.

Authentic delicious Chinese cuisine. Sichuan flavours are amazing and definitely worth a try. One of the best Chinese places in Köln. Definitely try the beef in chilli oil and Kun pao chicken. Portions are nice.

I don't mind the ambience (it's rather sparse at the tables, the walls and pillars are beautifully decorated) - the food is fantastic. Certainly already adapted to European palates, but closer to original Chinese cuisine than anything else I know from Cologne and the surrounding area. I didn't see any forks or knives anywhere either. Top. Really great, tasty and - be careful - spicy! We're talking about Szechuan cuisine here. And no, you can't choose what you want to eat less spicy, you have to find the right dishes (the special pork belly, for example, or the Judas ears salad (morels)) Definitely go.

Once again in Cologne, the restaurant was recommended to me as authentic Chinese cuisine. In any case, at least half of the guests were of Chinese origin - a good sign! And the food was great - with a large selection and an easy online ordering process. The staff and atmosphere are also very good - therefore a clear recommendation.

We waited 1h and 10 minutes on our food. Apparently they had no plates left that evening. Don't eat outside here, if you mind bugs . The wooden bench is full of them and just sitting a couple minutes on these will have your back be full of them. Inside looked good to eat however. The food felt quite authentic, also the style on how you eat and share food here, but what I ordered (Kung Pao Chicken) was simply not too great.

After waiting for more than 40 minutes (two kings), one hot dish and two cold dishes were served? ? ? I couldn't stand it and the longer I waited, the hungrier I got. After about an hour, I was ready to pay and leave. They said there was another dish in the pot? ? All the latecomers around us were served first and finished, and we only had one hot dish. The spicy sausage does not match the picture, it should be called spicy sausage.

We love the food here and sometimes come to Cologne from Düsseldorf specifically for it, that's saying something 😉 The menu is exceptional and has dishes that you can sometimes only get here. Recommended with extra ⭐️

The spicy chicken and the spicy fish were great but the beans were old and they woman brought us flat Coca Cola with no gas from the bottle. A little disappointing but not at least it was real Chinese food.

Authentic food, nice service. Ordering via smartphone, sometimes you would have liked a little more description of the dishes or the level of spiciness, but it still worked well. Unfortunately the translations disappear when you go to the order page, so checking again what's in the "shopping cart" becomes difficult :D. I ordered steamed pork like this [19€] and it was drizzled with red oil. I told him that it tasted terrible, so I could only say it was edible. He even said with a playful smile, "Let's beg for it!" Quite philosophical!

We were there with friends, 4 adults and 3 children. Service was cheerful and friendly and we had a lot of fun eating. Ordered 8 dishes and all were very tasty. Kung Pao chicken, pointed cabbage with glass noodles, spicy fried eggplant, Sichuan tofu, fried cauliflower, lotus root with honey, cucumber salad and a dish with noodles and beef. All highly recommended. If you are looking for an authentic (Sichuan) Chinese restaurant in Cologne, I can fully recommend Höfchen.

At first it seems quite expensive, but it is worth the price! I had the beef in chili oil and at first thought that €20 would be a lot, but this dish is easily enough for four people! Anyone who manages to eat everything alone has probably consumed over 4000 kcal. Of course it's designed for chopsticks, so there's a lot of oil left over, but that would be a shame, so I took my huge leftover with me :) It's spicy - but very pleasant in the mouth, but scratchy in the throat and throat - had to cough a bit. My more European stomach doesn't tolerate the whole thing very well. But I also certainly chose the most intolerable dish. But for me that is a feature of authenticity. It tastes very balanced, spicy, umami and well prepared. I've been looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant for a long time and finally found it. The only stupid thing is that I was alone and couldn't try everything. I'd be happy to come back with several people and catch up on that. Absolute recommendation for food lovers who want to try real Chinese cuisine.

This is one of the best Sichuan restaurants that I can find in Europe 💓 The food is so authentic and to die for. Spicy chicken and twice cooked pork are top notch! You have to try the pork hock in spicy chilly oil, it’s a cold dish and it’s my favorite. Their desserts are very nice as well, all are my favorite 🤤 Their service is pretty good as long as you don’t have high expectations. 😉 In my experience, Chinese restaurants always have similar level of service. They are not talkative or they may seem to not care much. But they are focusing on what they are doing. As long as they don’t disrespect me, I honestly think that is authentic experience if you dine in Chinese restaurant. 😆 For all of these people who complained about service. In Chinese restaurant, if the service is good, there are 2 scenarios: either the food sucks, or it’ll be very expensive. I’ve been to a very good Sichuan restaurant in Amsterdam and it’s much more expensive than here but you get 5* service 😃 And for people who complained about the amount of oil they use, please google Sichuan food and see how they actually cook their food. 🥹 I do agree that their consistency is a little off. I’ve been here around 7-8 times and sometimes the seasoning is less on point than the other. Overall, the food is still good 👍🏻 I am Vietnamese but I love Sichuan food. I’ve trying so many Sichuan restaurants in the US and Eu and we have Sichuan friends too, they often explained to me how the food should taste like so I’m pretty confident with Sichuan cuisine 😆

TL;DR Höchfen is a really nice Sichuan restaurant in the heart of Köln with efficient servers and great food. Sichuan food is a bit different from what you are used to, so be sure to prepare to be surprised and delighted by what they can cook up. I highly recommend their Bowl Tea and Sichuan Haxen, but for a beginner's main course I would actually recommend Rindfleisch in Chiliöl which is my favourite dish of all time. Hönchen was, together with Hana's on the other side, one of the two restaurants that I really wanted to visit since I moved to Köln at the start of February. It located at the Barbarossaplatz and is a bit tucked in the corner. The restaurant specializes in Sichuan food, which is a kitchen which is very near and dear to my heart, since it is something that I make for myself whenever I can. Since this was my first time at an authentic Sichuan restaurant, I was very excited to see how those dishes are supposed to taste like. I went alone on a Saturday night at around 21, the restaurant was mostly empty when I arrived. I was given a table near the front next to a lovely group of Chinese women enjoying a nice night eating outdoors. They were wrapping up and asked the waiters whether they could take their leftovers home with them, which the waiters happily obliged. The restaurant uses a QR system to order, and the food arrives whenever the kitchen is done with it. There is a large selection of different dishes, including some good specialities and dishes that are authentically Chinese. In their culture, texture plays a much more important role than in Western food, so they eat parts of animals which are common here. Some examples to look out for are Cow's stomach and Duck's Blood, which feature fascinating and unique textures. I ordered the Sichuan Pickled Vegetables as an entrée and 东坡肘子 (Dong Po Pig's Knuckle) with rice. As a drink, I ordered the Bowl tea, which I had no idea what it was. My entrée was okay and nothing to really write home about. It was nice to have some vegetables, and they had a good crunch, but pickled greens remain pickled greens. The Pig's Knuckle on the other hand was a beautiful, large piece of meat that even impressed the ladies next to me, who looked with a certain jealousy at my main course. It tasted as good as it looked with the meat almost falling off from the bone and had a really tender texture. The dish was spicy, but not overwhelmingly so, and all the flavours were balanced nicely. The sauce paired nicely with the rice, and I had to resist my urge to eat all of it with my spoon. The portion was more than generous, and I could see myself eating this easily with one extra person and still feeling full afterwards Tea is always my indication of restaurant quality, since it is something that it is really easy to cut corners to make some easy money. What I am looking for is restaurants that really try to offer the whole experience, and Höchfen delivered this to a T. I was given a China cup with a bunch of flowers in it with a small plate and a massive jug of tea. After calling a quick helpline in the form of Chinese friends, who first spent five minutes laughing at me for drinking old man tea, I figured out that you put the plate over the cup so that there is a small slit left over that the water can come out of. They were not at all skimpy with the water, so I actually had to spend ten minutes on top of my meal to actually finish all the water. In conclusion, Höchfen is a great Sichuan restaurant that offers high quality food for relatively affordable prices. Chinese food is typically to share, which is reflected in the generous portion sizes. The restaurant offers a masterclass in how you serve tea to your customers, and I was sad that I didn't have time to have their Sticky Rice with Bean Paste dessert, since that looked delicious. I cannot wait to come back to have the Chengdu Fondue and experience more of this great kitchen.

The food here is very authentic. The card can be scanned using a QR code and the Chinese name is included with the dishes. There are also dishes that you cannot find in other Chinese restaurants (they are adapted to us Europeans), such as: Pig feet (which my husband (Croatian) also likes to eat sometimes). Not as adventurous as my husband, I got the pineapple fried chicken - it was some of the best chicken I've ever eaten! The sweet and sour sauce was also very creamy and not as runny as usual - very aromatic!!! I can highly recommend the restaurant :)!

Super friendly staff. The place was recommended to me by a Chinese woman as the authentic and best Chinese restaurant in Cologne. I can't say whether that's the case, but the food is excellent. Anyway, the best Chinese food I've ever had. And the portions are huge. Definitely come back.

It's really really really really delicious It's a restaurant where you can't measure the bag strap, and the stir-fried eggplant has more tripe than vegetables. The stir-fried eggplant is just heavenly. I'm looking forward to the future and thinking about trying all the menu items here🫶
