Great Wall in Köln

This is one of the rare spots that serves truly authentic Asian cuisine. Their cold chicken in spicy sauce is a favorite of ours and keeps making us come back.

The food was excellent, the unusual spices were very well balanced. The staff was very quick and friendly. The ambience could still be improved.

Yesterday we were guests at "Great Wall" for the first time, but certainly not for the last time. The service was very friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. The menu is beautifully designed, including pictures of each dish, which makes choosing a little easier. We had the fried noodles, 2 Shanghai-style spring rolls and beef with chili and coriander. All dishes were large enough, very tasty and served quickly. All of this, including 2 large (0.5 L) soft drinks, was available for just under 50 euros, so you really can't complain. If you like authentic Chinese, you definitely have to go to Great Wall.

The food is great, I drive all the way from Duisburg. Service for Germans sometimes takes a bit of getting used to, the ambience right next to the main train station is not for connoisseurs. But the food is really amazing!

Ambience could be more “Chinese”, but otherwise GREAT. From a German perspective, there are really weird specialties as the main course (fried duck tongues, for example), but 17 sweet and sour ones make the others, so just try it here. Really tasty, friendly service, maybe a little more expensive, but whatever. Go there, order whatever sounds weirdest, have fun. It's all ok.

Good Chinese restaurant with an authentic selection of Chinese classics. However, I found my Chicken Kung Pao to be too sweet and sour and not spicy enough. Friendly service :)

Authentic Cantonese cuisine - duck pulls, frog legs, chicken feet etc. everything is available but there is also something for the German Asia fan. Mega tasty, clean and friendly staff. For me one of the best in the Cologne area

We stumble upon this nice place when were waiting near the Dom. We were lucky to walked in without a reservation because almost all the tables were reserved. We had the pig ear corn soup and the pork belly... It was amazing 😍 we loved every bit of it and we were so happy and filled. These and two drinks it coated us around 40+ euros.

Our favorite restaurant in Cologne! We've been eating here for years and are super satisfied. The food is really delicious and with the large selection there is something for everyone! The portions are also huge and the prices are completely okay. For 1€ you can order 1 portion of rice with each dish, or more if you want. 5 stars and an absolute recommendation.

We had four dishes today and they are ALL tasty!!!! We love this restaurant a lot and we will come back definitely! Btw it is dog-friendly and the owner is very kind to our dog 😊

We took fried rice and noodle soup with rice. The fried rice was very oily, not what I expected. The noodle soup contained bad pieces of beef, all rubbery. The noodles themselves tasted like simple aiki noodles. It said they were slightly spicy, but they weren't at all. They were very bland. Furthermore, the soup was also oily. Pay 7.50 euros for a 0.75 liter water bottle. Paid around 36 euros in total: the only good thing about it is that the portions were large. But quality-price ratio was very poor.

Last month I recommended an exhibitor to go with us. We ate nine dishes. The original price was 200 euros and the bill was 278 euros. After checking, many of the dishes were wrong. I sent it back and reprinted the bill. I was charged more than 230 euros. If you can't tell, I was tricked! Isn’t it good to do business with heart? The price itself is expensive and the quantity is small, so you won’t be full!

Often Asian restaurants have small rooms. We expected this. For each main course you can order an additional cup of rice for 1€. The food and drinks are delicious, but in my opinion the prices for the dishes are very high...

The first impression was good, the young staff were also very friendly, until the older lady served us: unfriendly, nervous. Even though I was behind the curtain, I kept seeing the lady smiling. The food was good, only the sweet sauce was actually SWEET, so I drank coke afterwards to temper the sweetness :)) but that's supposed to be a matter of taste. Ambience seems a bit neglected, hopefully the kitchen looks better. Conclusion: just because of the operation ⭐⭐⭐. I don't know Chinese like that.

The service at this restaurant is quite poor. I ordered a soup that appears with accessories in the menu photo, in reality it is just the rate. When requesting the bill, I ask to pay by card, which makes the managers angry because they have not warned me that they prefer cash payments. The food tastes good, that's also a reality.

Delicious, original food. The menu is 99% different from the usual Chinese restaurant. The atmosphere on the ground floor was rather uncomfortable, our table was in a niche. If anyone wants to plan something crooked, this place is recommended!

The food we ordered doesn't taste like it should taste. The starters had a lot of chili oil, but didn't taste spicy. Other dishes with below average quality in terms of quality and also taste. The food tastes really weird for a Chinese person who has been eating it forever. Of course, non-Chinese customers cannot easily tell whether the food is really authentic. But I advise against eating here.

Puedo decir con seguridad que esta fue la peor cocina y servicio chino que he encontrado. Mis amigos y yo acabamos de llegar a Köln y teníamos hambre y acordamos comer comida china para el almuerzo. El servicio fue rápido, quizás un poco demasiado rápido. Really good authentic Chinese cuisine with ingredients that many people don't even dare to try :) But these are exactly the dishes you just have to try! Always a pleasure. Maybe the prices could just be 1-2€ cheaper ;)

Dieses außergewöhnliche, chinesische Restaurant in der Nähe des Kölner Doms bietet wirkliche, chinesische Gerichte in originaler Machart an. Auch Innereien und eher exotische Zutaten, die man sonst nicht so oft auf der Speisekarte bei uns findet, aber eben authentisch und gut gemacht. Ich hatte eine Sauer-Scharf-Suppe und scharfe, gebratene, feine Rindfleischstreifen mit Koriander und Reis. Kann ich sehr empfehlen. Wer nicht eingedeutschtes China-Essen sucht, sondern wirklich wie in China essen will und ein wenig experimentierfreudiger ist, wird hier auch fündig. Hier gehen auch viele Chinesen hin. Reservieren ist nicht schlecht, da es voll werden kann.

A friend of mine and I visited this restaurant in 2020. The taste was rather average and unfortunately we both had diarrhea after eating it on the same day. Based on this experience, I gave a one star review.

Fortunately, there are fried and blanched vegetables here🥬, which I really want to eat in Europe. The taste is not too salty and the vegetables are light. I am very satisfied with it. There are many dishes to choose from. I hope I can wipe the table often so it won't get sticky. The service attitude is also very polite. The restaurant is small, so it is recommended to make a reservation first. Overall, not bad!

The food tasted very authentic and I would definitely want to eat it again. There wasn't a long wait for the food either. Unfortunately the staff was a little overwhelmed. At the weekend we went to Great Wall and ordered different dishes. Overall, the food was very tasty and arrived at the table fresh and hot. By the way, you can also find very unusual dishes on the menu. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The only thing we didn't like was the atmosphere and it didn't seem very clean to us either.

We (a married couple) didn't make a reservation, but half of the seats were empty. We trusted the pretty good ratings on the internet and were bitterly disappointed. AMBIENCE: you notice the proximity to the train station. Not comparable to the Chinese restaurants we had already visited. Our IMPRESSION: Snack bar around the corner and not a restaurant. The lady who welcomed and served us (presumably the owner) only reluctantly allowed us to choose a seat, even though there were still many free and not occupied at the time of our visit. Their SERVICE: still correct, but miles away from what we know from other restaurants. FOR MILES! Well - there really wasn't a need for her thumb in the rice that was delivered. You can also keep the bowl down. FOOD: Although it was advertised as spicy, in the end you could hardly taste anything other than chili. Meat: hard and “gnarly” apparently undercooked and cut too large, vegetables, of which there was very little, exactly the opposite: overcooked and mushy. A small bowl of rice (for two people) costs extra, as does the second one ordered. OVERALL IMPRESSION: Below average and absolutely not recommended.

It tasted different than what we are used to at other Chinese restaurants, which we really liked. The range of food on offer is also different than what you are used to. We'd love to come back!

太棒了！ We have an exceptional meal here. We had 口水鸡，水煮肉片 and the 干锅牛腩. It was the perfect amount of spicy and would definitely go again. The service was quick and friendly. They also had lots of takeaway box options to take leftovers home without wasting unnecessary boxes. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant!

The telephone is more important than the guest in the store. We were left standing for 5 minutes and then left.

The fish and bean soup is by far the most delicious and I highly recommend it. The spiciness of the chili peppers and Japanese pepper was enough to numb the tongue, and despite the spiciness, it was packed full of flavor. You can also adjust the spiciness. Please note that if you ask for less spiciness, the spiciness will be almost gone! The stir-fried water spinach was also very delicious. If I didn't finish eating, I asked them to wrap it up for me to take home.

Absolutely amazing food, loved every piece. Chilli beef stew, stir fried lamb with cumin and crab was really good. Food and atmosphere feels authentic.

Authentische Küche mit ordentlicher Schärfe. Alles auf hohen Niveau.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal bei Great Wall essen und fanden unsere beiden Gerichte sehr lecker. Ich für meinen Geschmack hätte es allerdings besser gefunden, wenn in den Gerichten keinen ganzen szechuan Pfeffer Körner drinnen gewesen wären, sondern gemahlener szechuan Pfeffer, da der Mund die meiste Zeit betäubt ist und ich finde das man gemahlenen Szechwan Pfeffer besser portionieren kann und sich der Geschmack etwas verteilt. Das Ambiente ist okay. Am besten reserviert man am Wochenende, da dort viel los ist. Die Preise der Gerichte sind nicht die günstigsten und teilweise für mich nicht ganz nachvollziehbar.

非常满意，来科隆三天吃了两顿了已经。推荐干锅肥肠，辣味香干钵，鱼香肉丝。茶的味道比较淡，汤可以不用，哈哈哈

Es schwankt sehr, einige Gerichte sind gut und haben einen schönen Charakter, andere sind eher flach. Die Nudeln schmecken allerdings leider genau wie die "China-Pfanne" vom Imbiss. Sehr viele Gerichte haben Koriander, oft auch nicht in der Karte ersichtlich. Gut fand ich das Pangasius Filet. Service war freundlich, evtl etwas langsam teilweise.

We waren met een groepje een dagje in Keulen. En zijn hier wezen lunchen, het eten was erg goed ! Porties zijn niet heel groot. Tijdens lunch was 1 man bediening die ook regelmatig achter verdween. Ik zou hier zeker terug komen en andere gerechten willen uitproberen. Ook genoeg keuze uit vegetarisch gerechten. Drank vind ik in vergelijking met de gerechten aan de dure kant. Al met al aan te raden!

Das Restaurant ist ehrlich authentisch - die Gerichte sind so, wie ich sie aus meiner Zeit in China kenne. Auch für deutsche Verhältnisse sehr ausgefallene Gerichte sind dabei, für denjenigen der sich traut. Insgesamt ist es recht eng bestuhlt und immer gut was los - eine Reservierung wäre also gut. Vorsicht ist bei der Schärfe geboten: wer hier sehr sensibel ist, sollte ein anderes Restaurant wählen. Denn selbst die Gerichte, die nur einen von drei Punkte an Schärfe besitzen, bringen den Otto-Normalo gut ins Schwitzen. Reis sollte hier dann besser mitbestellt werden, um das ganze abzumildern. Ich kann zwei Gerichte besonders empfehlen: den Wasserspinat und die Frittierte Aubergine. Sehr lecker! Für drei Personen braucht man je nach Hunger und Statur 3-5 Gerichte. Insgesamt also kein günstiger Spaß.

很地道的餐厅，喜欢吃微辣的菜，也喜欢喝汤，每次来都觉得好像多点几个菜然后可以打包…餐厅不是很大，但是有二楼。

The food is very nice as always. The service however was not good. The young waiter was very rude to us when we mentioned that we ordered beers a while ago and still didn’t receive anything. We waited also over an hour for our second bottle of wine to arrive at the table… The restaurant was fully booked and we could barely understand each other at our table because of the 15 people table behind us screaming, laughing, yelling. We love coming here and we can easily say it is the best Chinese of Cologne. But they should change their waiters’ attitudes… they will loose a lot of clients because of this.

Highly recommend this place, the tastiest chinese restaurant i've ever been to

Wir haben früher öfters hier gegessen. Mittlerweile ist aus unserer Sicht das Essen leider nicht mehr so gut wie früher. Es hat uns weder geschmeckt, noch war es preislich angemessen. Schade aber wir wurden leider enttäuscht.

Service > Der Kellner war unmotiviert und hatte kein Lächeln übrig, wirkte als ob er schnell wieder weg möchte. Ambiente > 0815 und die Wände waren teilweise dreckig. Für diese Preise kann man finde ich mehr erwarten. Essen > Das Essen war eine absolute Katastrophe. 10 min nach der Bestellung war bereits alles fertig und wurde angerichtet (es waren 4 Speisen). Alles triefte vor Fett und war ungenießbar. Bei einer Hähnchenspeise fehlten die Austernpilze, das Hähnchen war total überkocht, trocken/zäh und es schmeckte insgesamt alt und aufgewärmt. Der Koriander und die Peperoni waren frisch, aber alles andere war 100% (mehrmals) aufgewärmt. Der Hähnchensalat war im negativen Sinne die Krönung. Das Hähnchen war nicht frisch und schmeckte insgesamt einfach ekelhaft. Die Haut war labbrig. Die Nudeln in Tahinsoße waren einfach nur lieb- und geschmacklos, 100% aufgewärmt. Schmeckte wie ein billiges Fertiggericht. Der Pak Choi war ok, aber die Pilze zäh und die Soße dazu war auch nicht so lecker. Insgesamt haben wir ca. 50 Euro fürs Essen ausgegeben (4 Speisen). Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist überhaupt nicht gegeben. Für dieses Essen dürfte man in dieser fragwürdigen Qualität keine 10 Euro hinlegen. Wir sind sauer, genervt unzufrieden und noch hungrig rausgegangen. Kann dieses Restaurant nicht weiterempfehlen.

War nicht meins. Und ich fand es teuer.

Great experience and very delicious. Its not the cheapest option but for a great dinner is ok at around 25€/person.
