Hitchcoq in Düsseldorf

We really enjoyed our visit to Hitchcoq! A comfortably furnished and lit, albeit very small shop - so be sure to make a reservation, especially on weekends, otherwise you have no chance of getting a seat... Hitchcoq specializes in craft beer & Nashville fried chicken. The menu is small (fried chicken in a burger or just like that, mac and cheese, fries and coleslaw) but delicious! We chose the fried chicken burger with mac & cheese. Both incredibly good, with one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever eaten. Crispy and very well seasoned, the Mac & Cheese was hearty and tasty - both dishes were exactly as they should be 👏🏼 We also really liked the exceptional craft beer, of which there is a large selection. It may not be for everyone, but you definitely have to try it, especially if you're a beer enthusiast! Overall we had a very nice evening at Hitchcoq! The team loves the concept and has brought the few dishes on the menu to perfection. The price is quite expensive even for Düsseldorf standards, but it's still worth a visit. We will definitely be back soon!

Cozy location, great service, delicious food (we had wings, filets, coleslaw, fries, and cheesecake). The house-made Altfred beer is definitely recommended. What more could you want?! We'll definitely be back.

Everything was on point !! 👌 The main dish the Nashville hot Chicken tenders were very well seasoned, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside 🔥 The fries are crispy and one of the best I had and the mac’n cheese was very tasty, cheesy and excellent. 10 out of 10 🤗

At first it's a bit counter-intuitive to go to a chicken restaurant as a veggie, but there is a really good selection! I had a tindle chicken sandwich and it tasted really good. The side dishes of mac 'n cheese and pickled vegetables were also very good. We were looked after by really nice service and the craft beer selection was outstanding. There are also vegan options. I also recommend the Hitchcoq for vegetarians and vegans.

Small shop, fast and attentive staff, and simply great chicken. The mac'n'cheese was solid, but not as good compared to the rest because it lacked the cheesiness and creaminess.

From what I've heard, it's not bad here. Unfortunately I wasn't able to test this on the 3rd attempt either. Was closed again and no information at all on the website. So, conclusion: visited 3 times - all 3 times closed due to "unforeseen circumstances".

I've been a regular customer at this restaurant for a long time, but after my last visit I definitely won't be coming back. When I politely asked if I could take something with me because I was in a hurry, I received a rude response from the waiter behind the bar: "Yes, then don't order." To be honest, this is incomprehensible to me. Either the store is now so “fed up” with money that customer service no longer plays a role, or such a tone is now standard there. Either way, such behavior is unacceptable. I always enjoyed being here, but respect for the guests should be the minimum. Really a shame!

Thank you for your efforts. The place is in very good condition, the service was on a high level, but unfortunately the taste was not surprising, dips that are ordered additionally do not have a sufficiently bright taste, and considering that we took not spicy chicken wings, which themselves do not have any bright taste for example it could be more salty for my taste. The same applies to the pickles, which were only two small pieces, but I also do not understand the policy that chicken and waffles are available only at certain times, as in my opinion this dish should always be ready to order, because it is something special. Beer selection is good.

Perfect place. Best chicken and best beer you can have in Germany. But it would be better with a candle on the table in the evening. Would be really romantic.

It does not get any better than Hitchcoq, if it comes to chicken. Combined with a large international selection of craft beers (tap and can), this is the place to be for every chicken and/or beer lover.

All in all an average restaurant and very expensive. When it came to the sandwich, the bun was ice cold and the cheese wasn't melted. The mac and cheese was a bit lumpy and unfortunately the pickled vegetables weren't that crunchy either. the wings were also a bit dry. The slice of toast underneath was completely hard even after all the wings were gone. the service was a bit rude. I asked if you could explain to me how hot very spicy is (the first level of spiciness is shown with 3 chilli peppers). the explanation was refused. I just got a hold of it. it wasn't even spicy. I would describe it as spicy at best if you eat spicy food every now and then

Absolute recommendation for really tender and deliciously seasoned chicken 😍 The Chicken & Waffles tasted wonderful. The combination of fresh waffles, tender, spicy chicken, gherkin and maple syrup was a perfect fit. I thought the mac and cheese was just ok, but I was there for the chicken and that thrilled me. 😊 I also think it's great that you can choose from 3 levels of spiciness for the chicken. But for me the sharpness was weaker than expected. “Seasoned” wasn’t spicy at all and “really hot” was only slightly spicy for me. I still have to try “Afterlife”. 🌶️ The service was friendly and the ambience was warm and cozy with a rustic charm. This is a good place to eat in small groups, but it is also very suitable for dates. A reservation is recommended. I would love to come back! ☺️

After the reopening, the best level of spiciness is unfortunately no longer available. He was the best (Hot) The Caesar salad was no longer what it used to be... hardly any sauce and, unlike before, the Parmesan was used more than sparingly. So - more tinsel first. Still tasty

Offer a small menu and make what is offered perfect! Chicken marinated and breaded and served with craft beer. Yummy! The atmosphere is very cozy and the staff is attentive and friendly! We'll be back 😊

For me there is no better place for craft beer and good food. The chicken is just amazing every time. Not only the selection of beers but also the quality is incredible. Some craft beer bars have more selection but not nearly as high a density of extremely good beers from all over the world. Yesterday we were there again for the re-opening and it was just a great evening, thank you for that and see you soon!!

Our favorite chicken restaurant, perfect with craft beer 🙂. We've been going here for years when we're craving chicken and love the fillet. Plentiful, well seasoned, super spicy if desired and delicious side dishes if required (mac'n'cheese *yum*). I never eat cake, but I could indulge in the cheesecake (especially the raspberry cheesecake). The craft beer selection is good and constantly changing, and the prices are fair. The home-brewed house beers Altfred and Alma (Alt and Lager) are very drinkable and also suitable for beginners. In addition, there are usually 2-3 different beers on tap. You can also get advice. The service is quick even on busy days. We always like to come back 🙂

Great restaurant. Southern style chicken pieces. There is a small map. Chicken pieces, burgers, wings and salad. Plus side dishes. And homemade beer. Also a huge selection of canned beer from all over the world. As well as a huge wine selection. Reservations should be made for larger groups. You can get a table pretty quickly for two people.

I don't understand all the great reviews, I ordered the chicken wings plus mac n cheese yesterday... the noodles tasted old and like they had been reheated and the wings were too over-seasoned for me... unfortunately... and today I've been sitting I just spent the night on the toilet and had stomach cramps... I hate to give bad reviews but it was a total failure. SORRY

Everything was perfect but the food was really bad.The taste is only on the surface. The chicken in it was fishy and tasteless. For this price it is better to eat at McDonald's

Today I would like to make a clear recommendation for one of my favorite restaurants in Düsseldorf. The fried chicken is simply perfect – juicy, crispy and incredibly tasty. Just try the menu, it's always delicious! In addition, there is an impressive selection of craft beers that leaves nothing to be desired. No matter whether IPA, stout or lager, every beer lover will find something to their taste here. Even those who don't like drinking beer will find what they're looking for here. The service is outstanding, courteous and spicy! You can only feel good. An absolute highlight is the homemade cheesecake for dessert - a real treat that you shouldn't miss. My insider tip here: Raffaello, Oero or raspberry with white chocolate. But convince yourself! The restaurant's beer garden is particularly worth mentioning. The ambience is simply great – cozy and inviting. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere with a few beers. Overall, always a great experience!

Super large selection of craft beer, mega juicy spicy chicken, friendly service, what more could you want?! We have to come here at least once a month. Warning: highly addictive.

Unfortunately, reservations are only possible with a minimum consumption, which is far too excessive at €30 per person and which is persistently insisted upon. A pity.

I don't even know where to start raving. We actually came here because of the excellent selection of craft beer, and most of it at fair prices. Food was actually secondary, we thought, but it was simply fantastic. So if you're into either craft beer or Nashville hot chicken, you should definitely head to Hitchcoq.

The food is really great. The sauces, the salad and especially the chicken are really good. A mega beer list, exciting things, wine in different types and also enough non-alcoholic ones. We ate with 4 people and were all very satisfied. However, it is not cheap. We paid €128.00, i.e. a good €30.00 per nose. But we'll be back!!

Juicy and moist chicken but lack of seasonings. In no way was the food bad, but since the restaurant was so hyped, I expected more from the spice. Chicken and waffle 4/5: you can't literally go wrong with this combi. Chicken was moist with thin crispy layer on the outside, but waffle was totally meh Chicken burger 3/5: everything else beside the chicken was fridge cold. And too much sauce. It tasted so heavy Mac and cheese: so average, creamy but not cheesy enough And I know the food was overall good, but I was just baffled with the service that didn't even ask us how the food was or the overall experience was.

10 out of 10 with 5 stars. The beer selection is simply amazing, top craft beer breweries at reasonable prices. And the chickens... simply amazing. Absolute recommendation.

My girlfriend and I were here on Valentine's Day and had conveniently reserved a table online on the website two days before. We shared a bucket of chicken wings and you could order three side dishes. Drinks cost extra and tend to be more expensive, so drink sparingly. The waitress asked us how hot we wanted the wings to be seasoned and after being advised that "Hot" here in German means something like "slightly spicy", we decided on "Very Hot". It was a little too spicy at first, but once you got used to it it was just right. Good price for the portion size and super tasty wings. I can really only recommend it! You can also have leftovers packed in a cardboard box and take with you!

The chicken fillet hot 🔥 was delicious, the cheesecake was very powerful and in terms of taste it didn't have as much to do with American cheesecake as expected. The Cesar salad 🥗 was also good, we liked the friendly atmosphere and service as well as the clear menu - everything was fine all 4 stars

Went to Hitchcoq for the first time today with 7 people and a dog. We weren't fully seated yet and the dog immediately got a water bowl and our food and drink was absolutely amazing, everyone was thrilled and we all absolutely agreed that we had never eaten such delicious chicken before, thumbs up, we'll be happy to come back . Great selection of beers. We limited ourselves to the freshly tapped beers that evening and each one was first class and worth the price. The five of us had the 1.5 kg bucket twice with wings, 3 side dishes and 3 dips each, which was sufficient and very tasty. The owner and his staff are very nice and offer great service. I have no idea why some of the reviews here complain about the prices. Great quality, service and location and in the end we each had 3-4 beers plus the food and each threw 50 euros in the middle, of which 25 euros was also a tip.

A very nice American-styled restaurant serving mainly chicken in various forms and spice levels. It’s a little bit on the pricy side, but the portions of food are quite large. The servers are also very kind! Downsides: • It can get quite loud when it’s full, as the physical location is quite compact.

One of the best craft beer bars with chicken in Düsseldorf

That was the best chicken of my life!!! I've been going here with my son for a year and it's the best in the world. The spiciness is great and there is a lot on the menu, my son has already tried the whole menu and he loves every single dish!

The food is delicious. The chicken is definitely worth the money as the combination of main course and sides isn't particularly cheap. But in terms of taste and quality, it was completely justified. Unfortunately I can only give 3 stars because we (table of 6 people) were "thrown out" after a good 2 hours despite placing our beer order. And 3 stars are still benevolent because it's all about trying beers in peace. You don't go there just to eat and then quickly clear the table after 2 hours. 10 minutes before the supposed new reservation we were informed that we had to leave. At this point it was very empty, but apparently it was supposed to be fully booked because we weren't offered anything other than taking €10 beers outside in the rain. The table was near the toilets, so it smelled very unpleasant at times.

Very tasty chicken which is really spicy if you order it spicy. The side dishes like mac and cheese or cole slaw are also delicious. And the selection of sauces for the meat is also very good. I can recommend the ranch sauce.

It was pretty alright we order wings mac and chees, and some extras. It was alright the food is not somting I'd go again for but it sure was nice they brew there own beers and that is realy nice. Staff is trained and speaks very well English so I'd recommend to check It out.

The hype is real. I haven't been there for two years and we spontaneously wanted to grab something to eat and drink a few beers. When we arrived we barely managed to get two seats at the bar and were able to wait for a free table with a few glasses of the fantastic home-brewed Alts. But it was more than worth it, the chicken was well seasoned and juicy, Cesar's salad and cole slaw were also very tasty. The shop is worth a visit just for the beer. Really an asset to the neighborhood.

There are two stars for the really fresh, delicious food, at 58 euros/bucket, rather at the upper end of the price scale. But I definitely won't be coming back for the service and the overall experience: I politely reported to the counter and said good evening and that I had made a reservation for 4. The only “greeting” was a grumpy “Name?!” back. Drinks (and sometimes also food) were only placed in the middle of the table, not perfect either, but it was still possible. What didn't work at all: Constant dog whining and barking from another guest throughout the evening. I find the fact that the staff/management simply doesn't do anything at all to be anything from astonishing to unprofessional. So, Mr. Hitchcoq, you make great chicken, but it's a shame you were so grumpy (that night?)!

My wife and I have lived in Düsseldorf since June 2019 and have been coming to Hitchcoq’s since. I’m not one for leaving reviews. The main reason for doing so now, is that I was shocked that they do not have 5 stars on Google. We have never had a bad meal, received poor service, or sat in a terrible atmosphere. It’s our ‘go to place’.

Vorbeigegangen, reingegangen, begeistert gewesen. Es gibt 5 Schärfegrade der wirklich saftigen, heißen und sehr leckeren frittierten Hähnchenteile ... ich nahm die 4 und es war ... HOT! Nicht zu viel versprochen. Der Coleslaw erste Sahne, die Pommes international konkurrenzfähig.

Das Essen wurde leider vom absolut unfreundlichen Personal überschattet. Mac & Cheese war leider geschmacksneutral, das Hühnchen war sehr gut, aber auf dem Brioche leider einfallslos platziert.

Hühnchen never was so sexy! Nicht nur ist das Essen in allen Schärfevarianten besser als jedes lahme Date, das Du je hattest - nein, auch die Getränke sind jede Sünde wert. Und der Service? Ach, der ist so gut, dass Du am liebsten gleich nebenan einziehen würdest. Also: Wenn Du noch nicht da warst, dann mach hin. Es lohnt sich, versprochen!

This restaurant serves chicken and chicken only, in many different ways and compositions. We tried a bucket of chicken drumsticks, the spicy chicken sandwich, and chicken tenders with fries. All tasted good. There also is a nice craft beer selection, both on tap and in cans. We would come back for the beer alone. However, the staff was cold and pretty uninterested during our visit. We heard other tables having the same reflection. The concept is nice but it requires nice staff members too.

This place was awesome. The service, the menu, the food, the beer, the atmosphere, all of it was great. I haven't seen a beer list this good in many places in Germany. They have all of your craft needs covered. The chicken was great, I split a sandwich and then we also split a bucket. The sides are good with the Mac n Cheese and pickled vegetables standing out, the coleslaw was also good. I wish I lived closer to this restaurant, because I would love to be back!

Soeben dort essen gewesen und absolut begeistert. Das Hähnchen, die Panade waren unfassbar lecker. Die Beilagen ebenfalls 1A. Das selbstgebraute Bier rundet diese Lokalität einfach ab. Ich komme gerne wieder!

Super Laden und mega chicken. Ambiente sehr gut, Personal sehr nett. Alle Gerichte geschmacklich top, Beilagen auch super. Einziger Minuspunkt: DAS Highlight, chicken & Waffel, gibt es nur 5 std die Woche und das Samstag mittags bis nachmittags. Abends ist die Bude immer voll, beste Stimmung, da bekommt man es aber leider nie. Um 17:01 ist das Waffeleisen samstags müde. Bestes Gericht im Laden, könnte es gerne öfter geben.

Super schönes Restaurant mit freundlichen Mitarbeitern und das beste ist das absolut leckere Hähnchen. Außen knusprig und innen sehr zart, fantastische Marinade und tolle Sidedishes.

leider sehr lange warte zeit um dann am ende das falsche essen zu bekommen… zusätzlich wurde uns merkwürdigerweise eine extra portion mayo in rechnung gestellt obwohl diese nicht bestellt wurde. ist mittlerweile der zweite vorfall. ziemlich schade, weil ich eigentlich nur gutes über den laden gehört hab. vor allem bei den preisen…

Wir sind Nachbarn und haben das Hitchcoq lange ignoriert (Hähnchenteile halt). Das war ein Fehler. Die marinierten Hähnchenteile sind großartig. Die Marinade kann in 5 Schärfegraden bestellt werden. Ich als Thailandurlauber schaffe die Stufe 3 gut, bei 4 wird es schwierig. Der Cesar Salad als Beilage ist für mich perfekt. Pommes wären mir too much. Coleslaw ist aber auch sehr lecker. Portionen sind ordentlich und im Hinterhof sitzt man sehr schön.

Essen war gut, aber nicht herausragend. Die Weine, Grauburgunder sowie Riesling, haben mir nicht geschmeckt.

Sehr freundlicher Service und wahnsinnig leckeres Essen. Das Chicken war der Hammer! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

I enjoyed a wide selection of beers from different countries and styles. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they gave me some recommendations based on my preferences. The atmosphere was cozy and lively, with some nice music playing in the background. They have beers from cans, bottles and draft and they also have lambic and sour beers. The bartender gave me stickers and beer bottoms of the breweries they serve when he saw I'm enthusiastic about beers. Also, there are tap takeovers once on a while, like a spanish brewery takeover that was going on when I was there. There is an option to get 150 ml instead of 300 ml beer if you ask for it, so if you want to drink a big variety of beer - ask for small glasses 🤓

Extrem leckere Hähnchengerichte in fünf verschiedenen Schärfegraden, eine sehr gute Auswahl an Craft Bier und Wein aus aller Welt hat dem kleinen Restaurant einen Eintrag im Gault&Millau Restaurantführer beschert. Und das vollkommen zurecht!

Wir waren zu dritt zum Mittagessen da und haben eine Box von Hotwings bestellt, dazu noch ein Pommes und Coleslaw. Die Chicken-Wings haben uns besonders gut geschmeckt. Sie werden ganz gut gewürzt und sind nicht salzig, draußen knusprig und drinnen saftig. Außerdem kann man noch den Schärfengraden aussuchen. Die Portion ist groß genug für drei Personen. Am Nachmittag ist der Laden normalerweise ganz voll, deshalb dauert es ein bisschen lang, bis das Essen fertig ist. Aber das Warten hat sich gelohnt. Wir waren danach ganz zufrieden und werden definitiv nochmal vorbeikommen!

Bestes Hähnchen in der Stadt. Gemeinsam mit dem teilweise selbstgebrautem oder perfekt dazu ausgesuchten Craftbeer ein echtes kleines Erlebnis. Mittlerweile gibts auch eine super Vegie Alternative. Abgerundet wird das mit einer tollen Atmosphäre (besonders draussen im Hof) und einem super Service. Wir sind richtige Fans und regelmäßig dort!

One of the best hot wings I have eaten in a very long time. The wings just fell out the bone. Sauces were good (although you have to pay extra). Good selection of beer and wine. Outdoor area is very nice and cozy. Staffs weren't that friendly, but they take care of you well.

Eine sehr gelungene Hausbrauerei mit sehr schönem Biergarten, leckerem Essen und köstlichem selbstgebrauten Bier vom Fass sowie eine starke Auswahl an Craftbieren. Jeder der Hänchen und Bier mag sollte dies im Hitchcoq mal probiert haben.

Delicious chicken wings and chicken fillets with spiciness ranging from mild to max. Here's a Pro tip: mild is not spicy at all and hot is actually mild. The place is great for a short catch up with friends. However if you want to catch up longer during dinner, one might need to bounce to another place because when it's full, they need your table for the next group.
