Historisches Odenwald-Gasthaus Zum Grünen Baum in Michelstadt

Sehr gutes Essen und eine tolle Lage (vor allem der Biergarten) – auch während des Weihnachtsmarktes. Ich liebe die kleinen Details auf der Speisekarte und die Kreativität, die dahinter steckt. Und das Küchenteam erfüllt stets meine Erwartungen. Ich gehe immer wieder gerne dorthin, wenn ich in der Stadt bin. Ich kann nur das Restaurant bewerten.

Wir waren gestern mit unserer neunköpfigen Familie zum Mittagessen im Grünen Baum in Michelstadt und waren rundum begeistert. Das Essen war hervorragend und hat uns allen sehr gut geschmeckt. Besonders positiv ist uns der freundliche und aufmerksame Service aufgefallen, durch den wir uns jederzeit willkommen gefühlt haben. Auch das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt hier absolut. Die Preise sind sehr fair und die Portionen ausgesprochen großzügig. Tatsächlich waren die Mengen so reichlich, dass wir einige Beilagen zurückgehen lassen mussten, weil wir sie einfach nicht mehr geschafft haben. Beim nächsten Besuch werden wir deshalb etwas weniger bestellen, um unnötige Lebensmittelverschwendung zu vermeiden. Besonders empfehlen können wir außerdem den schönen Hinterhof bzw. Biergarten, der eine gemütliche Atmosphäre schafft und zum Verweilen einlädt. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können den Grünen Baum in Michelstadt uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen!

Bedienung absolut unaufmerksam. Essen okay, für den Preis kann man aber auch besseren Service erwarten. Ich denke, dass sie komplett unterbesetzt sind.

Rundum zufrieden in historischer Atmosphäre . Wir waren hier zu Gast und sind absolut begeistert. Es hat einfach alles gestimmt. Das Restaurant befindet sich in einem wunderschönen Fachwerkhaus, was genau meinen Geschmack trifft. Die Geschichte dahinter von über 340 Jahren ist absolut der Hammer und verleiht dem Ganzen einen ganz besonderen, gemütlichen Charme. Wir wurden freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich empfangen und bedient. Man fühlt sich als Gast direkt willkommen. Geschmacklich gut und frisch zubereitet. Alle am Tisch waren mit ihren Gerichten mehr als zufrieden. Ein rundum gelungener Aufenthalt in einem faszinierenden historischen Rahmen, bei dem wirklich alles gepasst hat. Wir kommen definitiv wieder und können diese Gaststätte nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen.

Waren zum Essen hier die Wartezeit war leider sehr lang und das Essen war zwar gut aber nicht wirklich herausragende und für die Preise erwarte ich einfach ein bisschen mehr. Service war sehr nett und zuvorkommend

Waren letzten Samstag mit Freunden da. Sehr angenehmes Ambiente und trotz Corona eine kleine, aber feine Küche. Das Wildschwein-Gericht war vorzüglich und auch der Nachtisch perfekt. Sehr nette Bedienung. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

Schöner Aussenbereich, lecker deftiges Essen , für uns ein rundum gelungener Restaurant Besuch

Wir waren letzten Sonntag spontan hier und es war alles perfekt. Das Essen war unglaublich lecker und frisch. Hatte einen Tafelspitz...so zart und lecker. Auch die anderen Essen, total lecker 😋. Ein Biergarten, in dem man sich sofort wohlfühlt. Auch mein Hund wurde sofort mit Wasser versorgt. Kann das Restaurant jedem nur wärmstens empfehlen.

Das Essen, bei mir die Rehbolognese, war so gut wie gar nicht gewürzt. Der Fleisch- und Nudelanteil war in einem schlechten Verhältnis. Der Beilagensalat war in Ordnung. Zudem war die Bedienung dann erstmal verschwunden und zum Bezahlen musste ich ihr hinterher laufen und mir flapsige Antworten anhören.

Essen war hervorragend Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich Ambiente sehr schön. Wir kommen mit Sicherheit wieder wenn wir in der Nähe sind

Sehe leckeres Essen, tolle Speisekarte mit gut bürgerlicher Küche und tollen veganen und vegetarischen Gerichten. Kind hat sich Nudeln gewünscht, auch das würde umgesetzt. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Sehr schöner historischer Ort. Liebevoll gepflegt. Schöner Gastgarten mit netten Sitzecken. Das Gebäude ist in sehr gutem Zustand. Danke dass es das noch gibt. Dsss Jemand noch die Liebe da hinein steckt. Allerdings könnte das Essen besser sein. Es kommen Fertigprodukte zum Einsatz. Der Schokokaiserschmarrn z.B.ist eine braune Schaumstofffähnliche Masse. Sehr schade eigentlich in diesem Ambiente. Besser weglassen auf der Karte oder vernünftig zubereiten.

Ein großartiges Gasthaus mit beeindruckender Geschichte, toller Lage und Inhaberinnen, die sich spürbar für Ihre Arbeit begeistern. Leckere, ausgefallene und handwerklich gut gemachte Gerichte (tolle Auswahl an vegetarischen und veganen Gerichten), erstklassiger Service und eine sehr angenehme und freundliche Atmosphäre. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Wir waren heute an meinem Geburtstag mit 2 Personen und Hund dort. Wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und das Essen war hervorragend. Die Servicemitarbeiterin kümmerte sich auch sehr lieb um unseren Hund und brachte ihm gleich Wasser. Trotz Hund bekamen wir einen sehr gemütlichen Platz. Sehr zu empfehlen hier fühlt man sich willkommen :-)

Wir waren bei dem Skandinavischen Abend. Es war ein ganz tolles Ambiente mit leckerem Essen - Elchburger, Flammlachs, Dessert, … und guten warmen Getränken. Die Feuershow und die Live Musik waren auch klasse. Allerdings hätten wir uns gewünscht, dass im Preis eine Auswahl an kalten, alkoholfreien Getränken inbegriffen gewesen wäre.

Die Skandinavische Nacht war der Hammer. Elch.- Suppe.- Gulasch und Elchburger waren spitze. Flammlachs 1a und erst der Bratapfel, ein Träumchen. Tolle Feuerschau, Klasse Musik und ein 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Spitzen- Team🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🥰🤓

Preis-Leistung passt hier. Service sehr freundlich. Leider hat uns das Essen nicht überzeugt. Wir kommen daher nicht mehr.

So ein perfekter Service ist heutzutage eine Ausnahme. Dafür würde ich mehr als 5 Sterne geben. Das Ambiente und das Essen waren gut, also alles in allem eine klare Empfehlung für Michelstadt.

Waren heute in einer größeren Gruppe dort zum Essen verabredet. Die Atmosphäre sowie der Service sind wirklich klasse, allerdings müssen wir auch erwähnen das wir kaum schlechter gegessen haben wie in dieser Lokalität und das mitten im Odenwald. Das Fleisch hat total nach Schwein geschmeckt, die Soße war zu säuerlich, außerdem waren gefühlt nur fünf Pommes auf jedem Teller gelegen und das für 23,80€. Das einzige was wirklich gut geschmeckt hat war der Beilagensalat…Schade! (ANTWORT AN DIE BETREIBER): Da man keine zweite Rezessionen schreiben kann kläre ich hier kurz auf. Mir wurde bzw. uns wurde weder etwas erlassen noch wurde uns ein anderes Gericht angeboten, keine Ahnung mit wem sie sich darüber unterhalten haben aber anscheinend sind wir kein Einzelfall die ihre Lokalität besucht haben, denn auf unserem Kassenbeleg den wir immer noch vorliegen haben wurde alles abgerechnet was (leider) bestellt wurde. Was das Fleisch angeht gibt es trotzdem Unterschiede es gibt Schnitzel die wie Schnitzel schmecken und es gibt Schnitzel (keine Ahnung wie man das hinbekommt) die nach nassem Schwein schmecken, vielleicht sollten sie da wirklich mal auf Qualität statt auf Quantität achten was man auch am Tiefkühlgemüse sehen konnte und die Pommes waren für den Preis an einer Hand abzuzählen. Wie dem auch sei, das Ambiente war dennoch sehr schön und wir wünschen Ihnen ebenfalls frohe Weihnachten und auf ein besseres Gedächtnis im Jahr 2026!

Waren im Restaurant , das Ambiente ist sehr schön gehalten , die Kellner waren freundlich , das Essen war durchwachsen , der Lachs war lecker aber die Beilagen sahen nach TK aus und schmeckten auch so. Der Feldsalat mit Ziegenkäse war geschmacklich gut aber sah etwas trostlos aus und es gab nur eine kleine Baguettescheibe dazu , es war auch ein eher 0815 Baquette, hab ich zur Not auch mal beim Supermarkt gekauft. Der Beilagensalat meiner Schwester sah super aus und schmeckte auch gut.Ihr Cordon Bleau schmeckte etwas „streng“. Der Cappuccino dort ist sehr lecker und der Granatapelspritz war auch lecker , aber leider trostlos , einfach nur ein Glas mit Strohhalm. Mit ein paar Granatapfelkerne oder Eiswürfel würde dieser schon ansprechender aussehen. Preislich eher etwas höher angesiedelt .Es war viel los , vielleicht ist es ein anderes Mal perfekt.

We had a lovely time sitting there, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food was excellent. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit.

If I could, I'd give it 6 or 7 stars. We arrived on Friday and unfortunately had to leave again on Sunday. We had two wonderful days here. The welcome upon arrival was fantastic. We immediately felt comfortable and at home. The rooms are very nice and make optimal use of the available space. The food is truly excellent, and the prices are great. The service is top-notch. The waiter and the young waitress with glasses served us most of the time and kept us very well entertained. We will definitely come back. Many thanks to the entire staff for making us feel so welcome. Update 2025: Luckily, we (the group from Trier on the first weekend of Advent) were finally able to be guests here again after 3 years. It was just as wonderful as described above. The staff were so incredibly kind and dedicated, and the food and service were outstanding. We would especially like to thank the "young" waiter, the Ugandan waitress, the wonderful person at the breakfast buffet, and of course the owner for the fantastic stay. We felt incredibly comfortable. I must make one threat, though: We'll be back! Many, many thanks from Trier and the surrounding area, stay just the way you are!

We spontaneously decided to come here today with colleagues. The service, and especially our server, was fantastic; the man clearly knows his craft and is passionate about it! The food was excellent, and while the prices were a bit higher, they were absolutely justified! The atmosphere was great, and we were very satisfied!

We've been here many times. The food is delicious, always fresh, and they place great emphasis on regional products. There are always vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. The service is attentive and friendly. Children are very welcome. The ambiance in the historic half-timbered house is simply beautiful. We celebrated our wedding there, and everything was perfectly organized.

I was sitting outside the restaurant. It was probably very busy because of the local fair. The service was good, quick, and quite friendly. Unfortunately, the waiter's plan didn't work out. The soup and salad arrived together, which wasn't what we had agreed on. He then said he wouldn't bring the main course until I'd finished the salad. I was about halfway through the salad when he said he could order the next course. But it arrived 30 seconds later... Annoying when you have to wolf down your food so it doesn't get cold. The carrot and potato soup didn't appeal to me at all. It had very harsh, unpleasantly earthy notes. The salad had a pretty good dressing. The roulade was the best part; the advertised red wine sauce could have used a bit more oomph. I never usually add salt, but the soup and vegetables needed it. Overall, it was okay, but nothing special.

We booked a weekend at the Green Tree. All expectations were exceeded. From the superb accommodations to the delicious food and the professional, friendly staff. Saturday evening was very hectic, with lots of guests, but despite everything, the staff remained friendly throughout. A huge thank you for the wonderful stay. We will definitely recommend it and will certainly be back soon. ❤️

Very delicious food with game from our own hunt. We had venison schnitzel and saddle of venison. Both were very tender. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. The value for money was reasonable. The service was very friendly, and we were absolutely satisfied.

A very nice courtyard with plenty of space. You don't have to sit on top of each other. The food was not only delicious but also presented appropriately. We definitely left feeling full. Our server did a great job. One of the few (in general) who can remember who ordered which drink.

We were booked for lunch last Sunday with a group of 36 people. We received a very friendly welcome and were immediately shown to our seats in the wonderful beer garden. Despite our large group, the drinks arrived quickly, and our meals didn't take long to arrive. The food was very tasty; I've rarely eaten such good bratwurst. Overall, a very pleasant experience; we definitely recommend the restaurant!

A very attractive restaurant in the beautiful Odenwald. Michelstadt is always worth a trip. A recurring trip to that city with a visit to Ul Unikate and the Café Middenoi, as well as the green tree, always fascinates me.

A passionate business, diverse seasonal cuisine, professional organization, friendly service, well-coordinated processes, and a pragmatic approach. Real people are still at work here! We celebrated our wedding at the Gasthaus zum Grünen Baum on May 24, 2025, with a hot lunch menu and coffee & cake buffet in the hall, as well as a cold evening buffet and party in the brewery cellar. We had an unforgettable day and would choose the same option again. Our wishes were taken seriously, questions were answered respectfully, and whenever we encountered any difficulties, a quick and effective solution was always offered. Thank you for the great support during the preparations, the attentive service, and the hospitable accommodations for two nights. We will be back soon!

We visited the restaurant again. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. You can sit comfortably inside or outside. The staff was very friendly. We'll be back again. We didn't stay overnight, so here's just our review of this highly recommended restaurant.

We had made reservations for 8 people for a long time because of the Christmas market etc. and were accommodated in the back room in the basement. The ambience is probably best suited to practicality. We had different dishes (game, roulades, duck...) but they only differed in the meat. The red cabbage was boring, the brown uniform sauce wasn't very sophisticated and then there was all the light beer. The food didn't come at the same time either, two people would have to watch for quite a while. There were many different waitresses at the table, but only one could take orders and answer questions; the others always had to let them know. We had really imagined the evening to be completely different and were very disappointed.

Zu meiner Freude, denn die Tische im Eingangsbereich wirken wenig gemütlich. Die Speisekarte ist unübersichtlich gestaltet und schlecht lesbar. Die Gerichte wirkten aber vielversprechend. Getränke und Essen kamen zügig. Das Porzellan wird nicht geheizt und die Speisen werden auf kalten Tellern angerichtet. Die Suppe und die kleinen Komponenten der Hauptspeise wären beim servieren schon lauwarm. Das Fleisch war zu Beginn heiß, kühlte aber durch den kalten Teller schnell ab. Geschmacklich waren Suppe und Hauptgericht lecker und gut abgestimmt. Das Lokal eignet sich sicherlich bei einem Besuch in Michelstadt zum spontanen Einkehren. Für besondere Anlässe erschienen mir anndere Lokale in der Nähe geeigneter. Für meinen spontanen Besuch war ich aber insgesamt sehr zufrieden

We went to the Christmas market in Michelstadt with our family and then had dinner at the Grüner Baum. The rooms are very nice, well-kept and comfortable. The service was also good. Unfortunately we can't say much good about the food. The venison was so dry and the red cabbage wasn't tasty. Absolutely not recommended and the venison was carelessly slapped onto the plate. Wild goulash was no more than just OK and the ribbon noodles were flat spaghetti. It doesn't work at all. The Cordon Bleu alone was very tasty and I would recommend it. The food prices need to be of better quality. Finally, a tip... Unfortunately, when we entered there was a smell of toilet or drain, which fortunately we didn't notice where we were.

Wir haben uns auf einen Sonntagsausflug im Odenwald gefreut und haben telefonisch bereits um 12:00 im grünen Baum reserviert, wir sind 50km angereist und freuten uns auf ein leckeres Mittagessen. Wir betraten das Lokal, warteten am Eingang und hofften an unseren Tisch gebracht zu werden, da wurde uns von einem sehr unfreundlichen Kellner, durch das Lokal zugerufen, ob wir den reserviert hätten, da wurden wir in einen Bierkeller geführt und uns ein Platz zugewiesen, der uns leider, wirklich leider nicht zusagte, auf die Frage, ob nicht für 2 Personen oben noch ein Plätzchen zu finden wäre, da wurde uns mitgeteilt, wir sollten uns doch ein anderes Lokal suchen. Schade, so etwas kann man freundlicher komunizieren.

Ich bin in Michelstadt zur Schule gegangen und bin bereits damals in den 80ern wegen des tollen Tatars mit Graubrot gerne im Grünen Baum eingekehrt. Heute, 40 Jahre später, anlässlich meines Geburtstags mit den Eltern war ich endlich mal wieder dort und es war fantastisch. Die Gaststube so gemütlich wie eh und je, sehr freundlicher Empfang, tolle schnelle Bedienung mit Charme - vor allem der tolle, humorige Chef de Partie :-) Die Karte knuffig und mit allen wichtigen Speisen von gesund bis urig - wir kamen wegen des Wilds und alle Speisen toll im Geschmack. Jederzeit wieder und wunderbar, dass dieses Traditionsgasthaus scheinbar mühelos den Sprung ins 21. Jahrhundert vollzogen hat und die Fahne rustikaler und. moderner Küche entspannt hochhält.

We came here after a stay. Recommended by a nice lady from Michelsberg. We were lucky and received a friendly welcome without a reservation. And got a table. The whole house and restaurant exudes rusticity. We had a delicious meal and felt very comfortable. The staff did the rest, always with a smile. Thank you and gladly again. Highly recommended.

We eat here regularly. The food is always seasonal as well as regional. The menu varies depending on the season and theme. The food is always delicious and of high quality. The restaurant is open clock. The beer garden is simply idyllic. The employees are very friendly and accommodating as well as very attentive. Dogs are welcome here. You can also purchase home-made delicacies (home-made sausage, pasta or spirits). In addition to normal operations, special menus are also offered. In general it is always worth a visit!

Since my detailed review was not published and I am accused of lying here, you can find a screenshot with the booking confirmation here. But now I have to say, instead of “Not recommended” it would be better: “Absolutely not”!!! The price quoted is not breakfast but actually refers to dinner; breakfast was included in the accommodation bill. Since the dinners were pre-ordered as part of an offer, we also had to go out to eat.

This review applies to the restaurant only. We were with our hiking group in the Green Tree, a beautiful large beer garden right in the center in the courtyard of the Green Tree, the menu is full of many interesting dishes, we had, among other things, tarte flambée, wild boar pulled burger in focaccia, wild boar goulash, roast lamb sausages, salad, snack platter, Everything was well received, the prices remain reasonable. The service, mostly young Asian ladies, was friendly but unfortunately there were some communication problems. Overall, it's definitely worth it.

My husband and I spent the last two nights in the family room with our two young sons in the guest house attached to the inn. We had driven several hours and arrived at the inn on Friday evening. The welcome was not particularly warm. There was no inquiry as to whether we found our way there easily and how the journey was. The employee walked with us from the guesthouse to the guesthouse and at least showed my husband the room. When I followed with our youngest son, the employee was already on her way back to the main building. When we asked where we could get something to eat, we weren't offered our own restaurant but rather a tavern nearby. There is no guest folder or anything similar in the room, so after returning from the inn we had to ask what the breakfast times were. The room's furnishings are a mix of everything. Ikea and some somewhat kitschy/old-fashioned and outdated furnishings. The bathroom was large and modern. During the night we unfortunately discovered how noisy the rooms are. In some cases there are only locked room doors between the separate guest rooms. We could hear every single word our roommates said. And we could also hear every single step at night from the room above us. The breakfast was rich, the staff was nice. On Saturday we were out of our room from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. When we returned, room service wasn't there. He then came at 2 p.m. and wanted to clean the room, which wasn't possible at that time because we were getting ready with the children for an upcoming birthday party. We left the hotel room again at 3:30 p.m. and didn't return until late in the evening. The room was not cleaned. Too bad. When we left there were no questions about how our stay was and no wishes for a safe journey home. Well then... The location of the hotel is unbeatable, but there is still room for improvement in one place or another.

The historic inn is located in the middle of the old town in a traffic-calmed area. First of all, a big compliment to the kitchen for the excellent food and of course to the friendly staff. The buffet for breakfast is rich and good. There are rooms in the main house and in the guest house. We had booked a comfort room in the guest house right next to the guest house. The room was always clean and functionally furnished. It also has a terrace (double use with the neighboring room). The restaurant's parking lot becomes a large beer garden in summer, as this is also stated on the booking confirmation. Arrival and departure are no problem; you can park your car free of charge in the large parking lot in the old town. From there it's 5 minutes to the inn. As a house guest, it is advisable to make reservations for dinner, especially since the house itself and almost all other restaurants in the old town are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Unfortunately, as we have to write here, construction work was taking place on the guest house and opposite. At 6:30 a.m. the peace and quiet was over. The house itself can't do anything about it, but we're deducting a star here. Certainly calm will return at the end of the season. Otherwise it was a nice stay.

Schöner Biergarten, Tisch war vorbestellt. Der Tisch wurde uns zugewiesen. Tischdecke leicht verkleckert. Bedienung:asiatische Damen sehr freundlich. Etwas unkoordiniert. Essen: mein Mann: zarte Rehrückenmedaillons an Waldpilzragout und buntem Sommergemüse, zart???zäh schon gräulich. Beim Abräumen wies er freundlich auf die Qualität des Fleisches (Rest lag auf dem Teller) hin. Der Hinweis wurde mit einem Hm quittiert. Vor dem Restaurant wurde auf einer Tafel mit eigenem Wild geworben, da muss aber ein ordentlich zubereitetes Rehmedallion möglich sein!!! Obwohl ich Zweifel hatte, ob hier tatsächlich Rehmedaillons zubereitet waren. Unsere Freunde hatten Odenwälder Kochkäseschnitzel bestellt, anstatt Pommes wurden Nudel bestellt, dies waren dann Spaghetti? Das Essen unserer Freunde (Kochkäseschnitzel) wurde 15 Min nach unserem serviert. Mein Essen, Geschmorte Hirschbeinscheiben , war schmackhaft und zart, aber muss man alles auf einen relativ kleinen Teller packen?? sonst waren eine gedünstete Tomate und etwas grün dabei, aber wie gesagt..eine etwas andere Anrichteweise hätte dem Gericht gutgetan.Später erschien dann noch ein älterer Herr mit osteuropäischer Sprachfärbung als Servicekraft, seiner schwarzen Hose wäre eine Reinigung sehr gut bekommen. Wir warteten nun seit ca. 15 Min. auf die Rechnung und fragten bei ihm nach. Er meinte: da müsse man halt etwas sagen.....wir wiesen drauf hin, dass wir die Rechnung schon bestellt haben. Nur um ein gutes Klima zu schaffen fragte mein Mann, wer den der Eigentümer des Restaurants sei, Antwort: das ist kein Eigentümer sondern eine Eigentümerin!! da müsse man halt lesen!! Nach weiteren 10 Minuten kam dann die Rechnung. Zum Glück hatten wir nette Freunde dabei und haben uns mittlerweile über die stetige "Steigerung" amüsiert. Schade, schade schönes Ambiente aber der Schliff fehlt in einigen Bereichen.

We only ate in the restaurant here. It was okay, but nothing amazing either. In summer you can sit wonderfully on the large terrace. They did a really nice job of it.

Great restaurant in the old town, lots of steps in the restaurant. At the entrance there is only a low step which you can climb backwards with a wheelchair and enjoy the very good cuisine and great service in the adjacent room. We were treated excellently and spoiled with culinary delights 👍🏼 Service is very important here!

We saw a report about the hotel-restaurant “Zum Grünen Baum” on the television program “Wunderschön” and were thrilled. We spontaneously booked the hiking package with an overnight stay in the Bienentor Suite. The arrangement includes breakfast on all days, a hiking snack and two great dinners. When we arrived we were greeted very friendly. The rooms are a nice size, clean and functionally furnished. At breakfast there was everything your heart could desire. The Bär family and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty and extensive. The hotel's own beer garden invites you to linger when the weather is nice. Overall, we felt very comfortable here and will definitely come back.
