Authentic Japanese sushi and sashimi. There are even types of fish here that are rarely offered in Germany, such as Otoro (fatty tuna), Ama-Ebi (raw shrimp) and Hotate (scallop). The tempura is also very tasty.

The food was outstanding, and every single side dish - especially the sashimi, tempura and karaage - was exceptional. This is one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants I have visited in Germany. The service was attentive and the restaurant had a cozy and authentic charm that made it feel like a small Japanese eatery in a hidden alley. However, the price was quite high, especially for lunch, as we paid €25 per person.

Food is amazing but price is a bit high, for this one it is 25 euro. I believe elsewhere I see 15 euro. The room is small and crowded. Service is good, free hot tea offered, food is quick. Lunch menu has limited options. Better take cash as they posted that they don't take credit card if below 30 euro.

Went here for the first time in 7 years and as always it tasted fantastic. Authentic Japanese cuisine and mega delicious sushi and sashimi. It definitely won't be that much time before your next visit!

I heard that Mitak doesn't take reservations on Saturdays, so I went around 11:45 before opening at 12. But everyone was already sitting down and eating… . There aren't many tables, but fortunately the turnover is quick and the food comes out quickly. It was nice that a carriage came as standard. The sushi was delicious and the tamago was especially delicious.

I was craving zarusoba so I ate it at lunchtime and it was good. There are few seats, so I recommend going right when it opens.

This place has the best sushi in Frankfurt. This is a go-to place for my wife and I when we are going through Frankfurt Airport and stay the night in Frankfurt. The teriyaki chicken is awesome and the sushi is unbeatable. Staff is friendly and quick to serve. Limited seating, so show up early or place a reservation.

We felt we were back in Japan for a moment. The food was absolutely delicious and even though the staff looked a bit overwhelmed, they were really nice. I would definitely come back!

Among the Japanese restaurants in downtown Ppu, the quality of fish is the best. Only the first photo is the lunch menu and the rest are the dinner menu. The prices are too high for dinner, so I recommend going for lunch!

I visited Japan long time ago and this place translates me in the heart of Kyoto, same spirit, same taste, same vibes! when u even have to wait a little bit for a table because u didn't book it in advance, u know u r in the correct place! ToP Japanese food!

I came with a high expectation, and it still exceeded it. I ordered their Set Menu, which came with a portion of Osashimi (3 pieces of each Tuna, Hamachi, Salmons), Nigiri Set, Tempura, Yakitori, Miso Soup, Appetizer and Dessert. All were perfect. I also ordered their Hotate Butter and was very sweet and umami. Comfortable and warm atmosphere, very friendly employees. They don't accept payment with debit card though, so make sure to bring some cash or credit card. And it could be very crowded, but i believe you could make a reservation. Overall very enjoyable, very nice food. Would definitely come back.

Neglecting customers, bad waiters👎

I imagine a typical Japanese restaurant like “Iwase”. Furnishings are functional, down-to-earth, no frills and quite cramped. Above all, the “Sushi Set” (€23) and the “Osashimi Set” (€25) were really good. The “Makunouchi Bentou” (€22) and the “Tempura Set” (€20) tasted quite good. Definitely really authentic and overall highly recommended.

Fantastic and really authentic little Japanese gem in the heart of Frankfurt. The quality of all the dishes is great and both the sushi and all other Japanese specialties are excellent. The RTestaurant also has an excellent selection of different sakes. The price is absolutely right for the quality. Advance reservations are highly recommended.

A small Japanese restaurant on the edge of the Zeil that is simply great. Warm service that is available to provide advice and support. The dishes we tried (softshell crab, oysters, sashimi, fried egg with mushrooms, etc.) were all excellent, and I was able to try natto, the fermented soybeans with the cheesy taste, for the first time. Reservations are definitely recommended or you can drop by spontaneously and ask if one of the 20 or so places is available. Absolute recommendation!

Visiting the Japanese restaurant Iwase was one of my best decisions. We love eating Japanese food often, so we wanted to look for the best restaurant in Frankfurt and finally found it. The prices are quite high here, but everything here tastes uniquely delicious! My favorite is roasted squid with aioli The employees are super nice. The atmosphere is beautiful even though the restaurant is quite small. Will definitely come back here.

Authentic Japanese food in frankfurt 😋

As already described, simple atmosphere, but attentive service. Sushi rice and fish is great! Unfortunately, Spicy Tuna was too spicy and basically killed the great tuna taste. Wine selection is okay, people here probably drink sake. Black sesame ice cream was advertised to me as something extraordinary (but I already knew it 😅). was beautifully presented with fresh fruit and was very refreshing.

Sushi plate costed 38 EUR however i know i can find better options with lower price in Frankfurt. The staff were very busy and sometimes couldn’t take care for everyone although the shop was not very big.

I visited for lunch on Saturday. I was happy that the tea came out right away. I ordered the sashimi set. It looked colorful and beautiful, and there were a lot of different kinds of fish. However, there was actually a lot of salmon, and the fish was dripping water, probably because it had been frozen. The rice was hard and the pickles had a ginger flavor. I was a little disappointed because the reviews were good and my expectations were high. It might be a good idea to go on weekdays or for lunch in Makunouchi.

It's best to reserve a day in advance as the queue is already forming at opening time! You won't get in there spontaneously unless you're very lucky. The sushi was one of the best I've ever eaten in the area. It literally melted in my mouth, it's a bit expensive and you also get a small starter beforehand which I found particularly tasty! I didn't like the atmosphere, it's very small and very cramped. The toilet is clean and I would definitely come back because I won't forget this sushi 😊👍🏼

The fish was fresh and the menu had a lot of variety. The rice wasn’t wrapped tight enough so it was hard to eat some of the rolls but the flavor, service and atmosphere surely compensated for that! Make sure to make a reservation because the place is always packed :)

Food is nicely presented. The quality and taste are more like canteens or snack bars. Price/performance is good, a set costs around 18-20 euros. The set includes a starter soup, side salad, main course and fruit slices as a dessert. The store is very small, there are few seats, so you have to wait in line outside to get in. However, in my opinion it's not worth queuing because, as mentioned above, the quality is no better than in an Asian snack bar.

Amazing authentic Japanese food, prepared the traditional way just like I used to eat at my Japanese great-grandparents' home. They don't bend the menu to satisfy the German taste, so you can find genuine food like nattō. An absolute delight.

Reservierung absolut empfohlen, sonst kann es einem leicht passieren, dass man keinen der sehr wenigen Plätze mehr bekommt. Mein Favorit mittags ist das Sashimi-Menü.

Sehr gutes japanisches Restaurant. Sehr empfehlenswert, wenn man auch mal was anderes als nur Sushi probieren möchte. So stelle ich es mir in Japan vor: Lecker, aber auch eng und etwas ungemütlich. An der Theke sitzt man so dicht neben den Nachbarn, dass man deren Gespräche unfreiwillig mithört. Unter der Woche muss man unbedingt reservieren. Wegen der hochwertigen Zutaten ist es naturgemäß nicht ganz billig.

Very small place with limited seating, but you don't come here for the atmosphere or social aspect, you come here for the food ... And the food really is top notch. I love sushi, and I've been to more sushi restaurants than I can count or recall. Predominantly what differentiates between them is the selection, but when you go to a place where something as simple as a nigiri or sashimi tastes superior, you know you've found one of the top 5% of sushi restaurants that are on par with the quality of sushi you find in Japan. Iwase is in that category.

This is a must for everyone who likes Japanese food. When you pass the restaurant watch out you don’t miss it! It’s so tiny 😉 The food is authentic and yummy. The moment you enter the room (there’s only one), you’ll notice a irresistible smell 😋 When we were here (on a Saturday around 1PM) it was crowded but we were lucky to get a table. But don’t worry. Just wait outside. It’s worth it.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in Frankfurt. Very classic Japanese menu, cozy atmosphere and an amazing consistency in fish quality and great taste.

Eine kleine Speisekarte dafür aber authentisches japanisches Essen. Frisch zu bereitet und sehr lecker. Vegetarisch ist nur die Suppe (auch diese ist mit Fischbrühe gekocht).Unbedingt vorher anrufen und reservieren . Service sehr nett absolut empfehlenswert. Wer ein schicki micki Restaurant möchte sollte woanders hingehen, wer Wert auf gute Küche legt ist hier genau richtig.

Sehr kleines Izakaya Restaurant, immer voll, unbedingt reservieren- für größere Gruppen und intime Gespräche aufgrund der Größe ungeeignet. Das Personal ist freundlich und die Karte ein Argument für sich. Es gibt auch im Winter Tenzaru Soba, eines meiner Lieblingsgerichte. Alles was ich probiert habe ist ausnahmslos lecker.
